1. 1  
The vision of Obadiah. Thus saith the Lord GOD concerning Edom; We have heard a rumour from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent among the heathen, Arise ye, and let us rise up against her in battle.
- Prophétie d'Abdias. Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Éternel, sur Édom: -Nous avons appris une nouvelle de la part de l'Éternel, Et un messager a été envoyé parmi les nations: Levez-vous, marchons contre Édom pour lui faire la guerre! - (Ⅱ)
- ὅρασις Αβδιου τάδε λέγει κύριος ὁ θεὸς τη̨̃ Ιδουμαία̨ ἀκοὴν ἤκουσα παρὰ κυρίου καὶ περιοχὴν εἰς τὰ ἔθνη ἐξαπέστειλεν ἀνάστητε καὶ ἐξαναστω̃μεν ἐπ' αὐτὴν εἰς πόλεμον (Ⅲ)
- Visio Abdiæ. [Hæc dicit Dominus Deus ad Edom :/ Auditum audivimus a Domino,/ et legatum ad gentes misit :/ surgite, et consurgamus adversus eum in prælium./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 1  ׃1   חזון עבדיה כה אמר אדני יהוה לאדום שמועה שמענו מאת יהוה וציר בגוים שלח קומו ונקומה עליה‪[Q]‬‪[c]‬‪[n]‬ למלחמה ‬ (Ⅴ)

Behold, I have made thee small among the heathen: thou art greatly despised.
- Voici, je te rendrai petit parmi les nations, Tu seras l'objet du plus grand mépris. (Ⅱ)
- ἰδοὺ ὀλιγοστὸν δέδωκά σε ἐν τοι̃ς ἔθνεσιν ἠτιμωμένος σὺ εἰ̃ σφόδρα (Ⅲ)
- Ecce parvulum dedi te in gentibus :/ contemptibilis tu es valde./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 2  ׃1   הנה קטן נתתיך בגוים בזוי אתה מאד ‬ (Ⅴ)

The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?
- L'orgueil de ton coeur t'a égaré, Toi qui habites le creux des rochers, Qui t'assieds sur les hauteurs, Et qui dis en toi-même: Qui me précipitera jusqu'à terre? (Ⅱ)
- ὑπερηφανία τη̃ς καρδίας σου ἐπη̃ρέν σε κατασκηνου̃ντα ἐν ται̃ς ὀπαι̃ς τω̃ν πετρω̃ν ὑψω̃ν κατοικίαν αὐτου̃ λέγων ἐν καρδία̨ αὐτου̃ τίς με κατάξει ἐπὶ τὴν γη̃ν (Ⅲ)
- Superbia cordis tui extulit te,/ habitantem in scissuris petrarum,/ exaltantem solium tuum ;/ qui dicis in corde tuo :/ Quis detrahet me in terram ?/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 3  ׃1   זדון לבך השיאך שכני בחגוי סלע מרום שבתו אמר בלבו מי יורדני ארץ ‬ (Ⅴ)

Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the LORD.
- Quand tu placerais ton nid aussi haut que celui de l'aigle, Quand tu le placerais parmi les étoiles, Je t'en précipiterai, dit l'Éternel. (Ⅱ)
- ἐὰν μετεωρισθη̨̃ς ὡς ἀετὸς καὶ ἐὰν ἀνὰ μέσον τω̃ν ἄστρων θη̨̃ς νοσσιάν σου ἐκει̃θεν κατάξω σε λέγει κύριος (Ⅲ)
- Si exaltatus fueris ut aquila,/ et si inter sidera posueris nidum tuum,/ inde detraham te, dicit Dominus./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 4  ׃1   אם תגביה כנשר ואם בין כוכבים שים קנך משם אורידך נאם יהוה ‬ (Ⅴ)

If thieves came to thee, if robbers by night, (how art thou cut off!) would they not have stolen till they had enough? if the grapegatherers came to thee, would they not leave some grapes?
- Si des voleurs, des pillards, viennent de nuit chez toi, Comme te voilà dévasté! Mais enlèvent-ils plus qu'ils ne peuvent? Si des vendangeurs viennent chez toi, Ne laissent-ils rien à grappiller?... (Ⅱ)
- εἰ κλέπται εἰση̃λθον πρὸς σὲ ἢ λη̨σταὶ νυκτός που̃ ἂν ἀπερρίφης οὐκ ἂν ἔκλεψαν τὰ ἱκανὰ ἑαυτοι̃ς καὶ εἰ τρυγηταὶ εἰση̃λθον πρὸς σέ οὐκ ἂν ὑπελίποντο ἐπιφυλλίδα (Ⅲ)
- Si fures introissent ad te,/ si latrones per noctem,/ quomodo conticuisses ?/ nonne furati essent sufficientia sibi ?/ Si vindemiatores introissent ad te,/ numquid saltem racemum reliquissent tibi ?/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 5  ׃1   אם גנבים באו לך אם שודדי לילה איך נדמיתה הלוא יגנבו דים אם בצרים באו לך הלוא ישאירו עללות ‬ (Ⅴ)

How are the things of Esau searched out! how are his hidden things sought up!
- Ah! comme Ésaü est fouillé! Comme ses trésors sont découverts! (Ⅱ)
- πω̃ς ἐξηρευνήθη Ησαυ καὶ κατελήμφθη αὐτου̃ τὰ κεκρυμμένα (Ⅲ)
- Quomodo scrutati sunt Esau ;/ investigaverunt abscondita ejus ?/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 6  ׃1   איך נחפשו עשו נבעו מצפניו ‬ (Ⅴ)
1. 7  
All the men of thy confederacy have brought thee even to the border: the men that were at peace with thee have deceived thee, and prevailed against thee; that they eat thy bread have laid a wound under thee: there is none understanding in him.
- Tous tes alliés t'ont chassé jusqu'à la frontière, Tes amis t'ont joué, t'ont dominé, Ceux qui mangeaient ton pain t'ont dressé des pièges, Et tu n'as pas su t'en apercevoir! (Ⅱ)
- ἕως τω̃ν ὁρίων σου ἐξαπέστειλάν σε πάντες οἱ ἄνδρες τη̃ς διαθήκης σου ἀντέστησάν σοι ἠδυνάσθησαν πρὸς σὲ ἄνδρες εἰρηνικοί σου ἔθηκαν ἔνεδρα ὑποκάτω σου οὐκ ἔστιν σύνεσις αὐτοι̃ς (Ⅲ)
- Usque ad terminum emiserunt te :/ omnes viri fœderis tui illuserunt tibi :/ invaluerunt adversum te viri pacis tuæ,/ qui comedunt tecum, ponent insidias subter te ;/ non est prudentia in eo./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 7  ׃1   עד הגבול שלחוך כל אנשי בריתך השיאוך יכלו לך אנשי שלמך לחמך ישימו מזור תחתיך אין תבונה בו ‬ (Ⅴ)

Shall I not in that day, saith the LORD, even destroy the wise men out of Edom, and understanding out of the mount of Esau?
- N'est-ce pas en ce jour, dit l'Éternel, Que je ferai disparaître d'Édom les sages, Et de la montagne d'Ésaü l'intelligence? (Ⅱ)
- ἐν ἐκείνη̨ τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ λέγει κύριος ἀπολω̃ σοφοὺς ἐκ τη̃ς Ιδουμαίας καὶ σύνεσιν ἐξ ὄρους Ησαυ (Ⅲ)
- Numquid non in die illa, dicit Dominus,/ perdam sapientes de Idumæa,/ et prudentiam de monte Esau ?/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 8  ׃1   הלוא ביום ההוא נאם יהוה והאבדתי חכמים מאדום ותבונה מהר עשו ‬ (Ⅴ)
1. 9  
And thy mighty men, O Teman, shall be dismayed, to the end that every one of the mount of Esau may be cut off by slaughter.
- Tes guerriers, ô Théman, seront dans l'épouvante, Car tous ceux de la montagne d'Ésaü périront dans le carnage. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ πτοηθήσονται οἱ μαχηταί σου οἱ ἐκ Θαιμαν ὅπως ἐξαρθη̨̃ ἄνθρωπος ἐξ ὄρους Ησαυ (Ⅲ)
- Et timebunt fortes tui a meridie,/ ut intereat vir de monte Esau./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 9  ׃1   וחתו גבוריך תימן למען יכרת איש מהר עשו מקטל ‬ (Ⅴ)
1. 10  
For thy violence against thy brother Jacob shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever.
- A cause de ta violence contre ton frère Jacob, Tu seras couvert de honte, Et tu seras exterminé pour toujours. (Ⅱ)
- διὰ τὴν σφαγὴν καὶ τὴν ἀσέβειαν τὴν εἰς τὸν ἀδελφόν σου Ιακωβ καὶ καλύψει σε αἰσχύνη καὶ ἐξαρθήση̨ εἰς τὸν αἰω̃να (Ⅲ)
- Propter interfectionem,/ et propter iniquitatem in fratrem tuum Jacob,/ operiet te confusio, et peribis in æternum./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 10 ׃1   מחמס אחיך יעקב תכסך בושה ונכרת לעולם ‬ (Ⅴ)

In the day that thou stoodest on the other side, in the day that the strangers carried away captive his forces, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou wast as one of them.
- Le jour où tu te tenais en face de lui, Le jour où des étrangers emmenaient captive son armée, Où des étrangers entraient dans ses portes, Et jetaient le sort sur Jérusalem, Toi aussi tu étais comme l'un d'eux. (Ⅱ)
- ἀφ' ἡ̃ς ἡμέρας ἀντέστης ἐξ ἐναντίας ἐν ἡμέρα̨ αἰχμαλωτευόντων ἀλλογενω̃ν δύναμιν αὐτου̃ καὶ ἀλλότριοι εἰση̃λθον εἰς πύλας αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐπὶ Ιερουσαλημ ἔβαλον κλήρους καὶ σὺ ἠ̃ς ὡς εἱ̃ς ἐξ αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ)
- In die cum stares adversus eum,/ quando capiebant alieni exercitum ejus,/ et extranei ingrediebantur portas ejus,/ et super Jerusalem mittebant sortem,/ tu quoque eras quasi unus ex eis./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 11 ׃1   ביום עמדך מנגד ביום שבות זרים חילו ונכרים באו *שערו **שעריו ועל ירושלם ידו גורל גם אתה כאחד מהם ‬ (Ⅴ)
1. 12  
But thou shouldest not have looked on the day of thy brother in the day that he became a stranger; neither shouldest thou have rejoiced over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; neither shouldest thou have spoken proudly in the day of distress.
- Ne repais pas ta vue du jour de ton frère, du jour de son malheur, Ne te réjouis pas sur les enfants de Juda au jour de leur ruine, Et n'ouvre pas une grande bouche au jour de la détresse! (Ⅱ)
- καὶ μὴ ἐπίδη̨ς ἡμέραν ἀδελφου̃ σου ἐν ἡμέρα̨ ἀλλοτρίων καὶ μὴ ἐπιχαρη̨̃ς ἐπὶ τοὺς υἱοὺς Ιουδα ἐν ἡμέρα̨ ἀπωλείας αὐτω̃ν καὶ μὴ μεγαλορρημονήση̨ς ἐν ἡμέρα̨ θλίψεως (Ⅲ)
- Et non despicies in die fratris tui,/ in die peregrinationis ejus :/ et non lætaberis super filios Juda/ in die perditionis eorum :/ et non magnificabis os tuum/ in die angustiæ./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 12 ׃1   ואל תרא ביום אחיך ביום נכרו ואל תשמח לבני יהודה ביום אבדם ואל תגדל פיך ביום צרה ‬ (Ⅴ)
1. 13  
Thou shouldest not have entered into the gate of my people in the day of their calamity; yea, thou shouldest not have looked on their affliction in the day of their calamity, nor have laid hands on their substance in the day of their calamity;
- N'entre pas dans les portes de mon peuple au jour de sa ruine, Ne repais pas ta vue de son malheur au jour de sa ruine, Et ne porte pas la main sur ses richesses au jour de sa ruine! (Ⅱ)
- μηδὲ εἰσέλθη̨ς εἰς πύλας λαω̃ν ἐν ἡμέρα̨ πόνων αὐτω̃ν μηδὲ ἐπίδη̨ς καὶ σὺ τὴν συναγωγὴν αὐτω̃ν ἐν ἡμέρα̨ ὀλέθρου αὐτω̃ν μηδὲ συνεπιθη̨̃ ἐπὶ τὴν δύναμιν αὐτω̃ν ἐν ἡμέρα̨ ἀπωλείας αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ)
- Neque ingredieris portam populi mei/ in die ruinæ eorum ;/ neque despicies et tu in malis ejus/ in die vastitatis illius./ Et non emitteris adversus exercitum ejus/ in die vastitatis illius,/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 13 ׃1   אל תבוא בשער עמי ביום אידם אל תרא גם אתה ברעתו ביום אידו ואל תשלחנה בחילו ביום אידו ‬ (Ⅴ)

Neither shouldest thou have stood in the crossway, to cut off those of his that did escape; neither shouldest thou have delivered up those of his that did remain in the day of distress.
- Ne te tiens pas au carrefour pour exterminer ses fuyards, Et ne livre pas ses réchappés au jour de la détresse! (Ⅱ)
- μηδὲ ἐπιστη̨̃ς ἐπὶ τὰς διεκβολὰς αὐτω̃ν του̃ ἐξολεθρευ̃σαι τοὺς ἀνασω̨ζομένους αὐτω̃ν μηδὲ συγκλείση̨ς τοὺς φεύγοντας ἐξ αὐτω̃ν ἐν ἡμέρα̨ θλίψεως (Ⅲ)
- neque stabis in exitibus/ ut interficias eos qui fugerint,/ et non concludes reliquos ejus/ in die tribulationis./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 14 ׃1   ואל תעמד על הפרק להכרית את פליטיו ואל תסגר שרידיו ביום צרה ‬ (Ⅴ)
1. 15  
For the day of the LORD is near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head.
- Car le jour de l'Éternel est proche, pour toutes les nations; Il te sera fait comme tu as fait, Tes oeuvres retomberont sur ta tête. (Ⅱ)
- διότι ἐγγὺς ἡμέρα κυρίου ἐπὶ πάντα τὰ ἔθνη ὃν τρόπον ἐποίησας οὕτως ἔσται σοι τὸ ἀνταπόδομά σου ἀνταποδοθήσεται εἰς κεφαλήν σου (Ⅲ)
- Quoniam juxta est dies Domini super omnes gentes :/ sicut fecisti, fiet tibi ;/ retributionem tuam convertet in caput tuum./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 15 ׃1   כי קרוב יום יהוה על כל הגוים כאשר עשית יעשה לך גמלך ישוב בראשך ‬ (Ⅴ)
1. 16  
For as ye have drunk upon my holy mountain, so shall all the heathen drink continually, yea, they shall drink, and they shall swallow down, and they shall be as though they had not been.
- Car, comme vous avez bu sur ma montagne sainte, Ainsi toutes les nations boiront sans cesse; Elles boiront, elles avaleront, Et elles seront comme si elles n'avaient jamais été. (Ⅱ)
- διότι ὃν τρόπον ἔπιες ἐπὶ τὸ ὄρος τὸ ἅγιόν μου πίονται πάντα τὰ ἔθνη οἰ̃νον πίονται καὶ καταβήσονται καὶ ἔσονται καθὼς οὐχ ὑπάρχοντες (Ⅲ)
- Quomodo enim bibistis super montem sanctum meum,/ bibent omnes gentes jugiter :/ et bibent, et absorbebunt,/ et erunt quasi non sint.\ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 16 ׃1   כי כאשר שתיתם על הר קדשי ישתו כל הגוים תמיד ושתו ולעו והיו כלוא היו ‬ (Ⅴ)
1. 17  
But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.
- Mais le salut sera sur la montagne de Sion, elle sera sainte, Et la maison de Jacob reprendra ses possessions. (Ⅱ)
- ἐν δὲ τω̨̃ ὄρει Σιων ἔσται ἡ σωτηρία καὶ ἔσται ἅγιον καὶ κατακληρονομήσουσιν ὁ οἰ̃κος Ιακωβ τοὺς κατακληρονομήσαντας αὐτούς (Ⅲ)
- Et in monte Sion erit salvatio, et erit sanctus ;/ et possidebit domus Jacob eos qui se possederant./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 17 ׃1   ובהר ציון תהיה פליטה והיה קדש וירשו בית יעקב את מורשיהם‪[U]‬ ‬ (Ⅴ)
1. 18  
And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for the LORD hath spoken it.
- La maison de Jacob sera un feu, et la maison de Joseph une flamme; Mais la maison d'Ésaü sera du chaume, Qu'elles allumeront et consumeront; Et il ne restera rien de la maison d'Ésaü, Car l'Éternel a parlé. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἔσται ὁ οἰ̃κος Ιακωβ πυ̃ρ ὁ δὲ οἰ̃κος Ιωσηφ φλόξ ὁ δὲ οἰ̃κος Ησαυ εἰς καλάμην καὶ ἐκκαυθήσονται εἰς αὐτοὺς καὶ καταφάγονται αὐτούς καὶ οὐκ ἔσται πυροφόρος ἐν τω̨̃ οἴκω̨ Ησαυ διότι κύριος ἐλάλησεν (Ⅲ)
- Et erit domus Jacob ignis,/ et domus Joseph flamma,/ et domus Esau stipula :/ et succendentur in eis, et devorabunt eos,/ et non erunt reliquiæ domus Esau,/ quia Dominus locutus est./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 18 ׃1   והיה בית יעקב אש ובית יוסף להבה ובית עשו לקש ודלקו בהם ואכלום ולא יהיה‪[C]‬‪[c]‬ שריד לבית עשו כי יהוה דבר ‬ (Ⅴ)
1. 19  
And they of the south shall possess the mount of Esau; and they of the plain the Philistines: and they shall possess the fields of Ephraim, and the fields of Samaria: and Benjamin shall possess Gilead.
- Ceux du midi posséderont la montagne d'Ésaü, Et ceux de la plaine le pays des Philistins; Ils posséderont le territoire d'Éphraïm et celui de Samarie; Et Benjamin possédera Galaad. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ κατακληρονομήσουσιν οἱ ἐν Ναγεβ τὸ ὄρος τὸ Ησαυ καὶ οἱ ἐν τη̨̃ Σεφηλα τοὺς ἀλλοφύλους καὶ κατακληρονομήσουσιν τὸ ὄρος Εφραιμ καὶ τὸ πεδίον Σαμαρείας καὶ Βενιαμιν καὶ τὴν Γαλααδι̃τιν (Ⅲ)
- Et hæreditabunt hi, qui ad austrum sunt, montem Esau,/ et qui in campestribus, Philisthiim :/ et possidebunt regionem Ephraim et regionem Samariæ,/ et Benjamin possidebit Galaad./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 19 ׃1   וירשו הנגב את הר עשו והשפלה את פלשתים וירשו את שדה אפרים ואת שדה שמרון ובנימן את הגלעד ‬ (Ⅴ)
1. 20  
And the captivity of this host of the children of Israel shall possess that of the Canaanites, even unto Zarephath; and the captivity of Jerusalem, which is in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the south.
- Les captifs de cette armée des enfants d'Israël Posséderont le pays occupé par les Cananéens jusqu'à Sarepta, Et les captifs de Jérusalem qui sont à Sepharad Posséderont les villes du midi. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ τη̃ς μετοικεσίας ἡ ἀρχὴ αὕτη τοι̃ς υἱοι̃ς Ισραηλ γη̃ τω̃ν Χαναναίων ἕως Σαρεπτων καὶ ἡ μετοικεσία Ιερουσαλημ ἕως Εφραθα καὶ κληρονομήσουσιν τὰς πόλεις του̃ Ναγεβ (Ⅲ)
- Et transmigratio exercitus hujus filiorum Israël,/ omnia loca Chananæorum usque ad Sareptam :/ et transmigratio Jerusalem, quæ in Bosphoro est,/ possidebit civitates austri./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 20 ׃1   וגלת החל הזה לבני ישראל אשר כנענים עד צרפת וגלת ירושלם אשר בספרד ירשו את ערי הנגב ‬ (Ⅴ)
1. 21  
And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD's.
- Des libérateurs monteront sur la montagne de Sion, Pour juger la montagne d'Ésaü; Et à l'Éternel appartiendra le règne. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἀναβήσονται ἄνδρες σεσω̨σμένοι ἐξ ὄρους Σιων του̃ ἐκδικη̃σαι τὸ ὄρος Ησαυ καὶ ἔσται τω̨̃ κυρίω̨ ἡ βασιλεία (Ⅲ)
- Et ascendent salvatores in montem Sion judicare montem Esau,/ et erit Domino regnum.] (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 21 ׃1   ועלו מושעים בהר ציון לשפט את הר עשו והיתה ליהוה המלוכה ‬ (Ⅴ)
