بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
- Alhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameena (Ⅰ)
- The Beneficent, the Merciful, (Ⅱ)
- In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. (Ⅲ)
- Praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being, (Ⅳ)
- Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds; (Ⅵ)
36. 1  
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ يس
- Yaseen (Ⅰ)
- Ya Seen. (Ⅱ)
- Ya Sin. (Ⅲ)
- Ya Sin (Ⅳ)
- Ya Sin. (Ⅵ)
36. 2  
وَالْقُرْآنِ الْحَكِيمِ
- Waalqurani alhakeemi (Ⅰ)
- I swear by the Quran full of wisdom (Ⅱ)
- By the wise Qur'an, (Ⅲ)
- By the Wise Koran, (Ⅳ)
- By the Qur´an, full of Wisdom,- (Ⅵ)
36. 3  
إِنَّكَ لَمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ
- Innaka lamina almursaleena (Ⅰ)
- Most surely you are one of the Messengers (Ⅱ)
- Lo! thou art of those sent (Ⅲ)
- thou art truly among the Envoys (Ⅳ)
- Thou art indeed one of the messengers, (Ⅵ)
36. 4  
عَلَىٰ صِرَاطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ
- AAala siratin mustaqeemin (Ⅰ)
- On a Straight Way. (Ⅱ)
- On a straight path, (Ⅲ)
- on a straight path; (Ⅳ)
- On a Straight Way. (Ⅵ)
36. 5  
تَنزِيلَ الْعَزِيزِ الرَّحِيمِ
- Tanzeela alAAazeezi alrraheemi (Ⅰ)
- A revelation of the Mighty, the Merciful. (Ⅱ)
- A revelation of the Mighty, the Merciful, (Ⅲ)
- the sending down of the All-mighty, the All-wise, (Ⅳ)
- It is a Revelation sent down by (Him), the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. (Ⅵ)
36. 6  
لِتُنذِرَ قَوْمًا مَّا أُنذِرَ آبَاؤُهُمْ فَهُمْ غَافِلُونَ
- Litunthira qawman ma onthira abaohum fahum ghafiloona (Ⅰ)
- That you may warn a people whose fathers were not warned, and so they are heedless. (Ⅱ)
- That thou mayst warn a folk whose fathers were not warned, so they are heedless. (Ⅲ)
- that thou mayest warn a people whose fathers were never warned, so they are heedless. (Ⅳ)
- In order that thou mayest admonish a people, whose fathers had received no admonition, and who therefore remain heedless (of the Signs of Allah). (Ⅵ)
36. 7  
لَقَدْ حَقَّ الْقَوْلُ عَلَىٰ أَكْثَرِهِمْ فَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
- Laqad haqqa alqawlu AAala aktharihim fahum la yuminoona (Ⅰ)
- Already has the word proved true of most of them, for they do not believe. (Ⅱ)
- Already hath the judgment, (for their infidelity) proved true of most of them, for they believe not. (Ⅲ)
- The Word has been realised against most of them, yet they do not believe. (Ⅳ)
- The Word is proved true against the greater part of them: for they do not believe. (Ⅵ)
36. 8  
إِنَّا جَعَلْنَا فِي أَعْنَاقِهِمْ أَغْلَالًا فَهِيَ إِلَى الْأَذْقَانِ فَهُم مُّقْمَحُونَ
- Inna jaAAalna fee aAAnaqihim aghlalan fahiya ila alathqani fahum muqmahoona (Ⅰ)
- Surely We have placed chains on their necks, and these reach up to their chins, so they are stiff-necked. (Ⅱ)
- Lo! We have put on their necks carcans reaching unto the chins, so that they are made stiff-necked. (Ⅲ)
- Surely We have put on their necks fetters up to the chin, so their heads are raised; (Ⅳ)
- We have put yokes round their necks right up to their chins, so that their heads are forced up (and they cannot see). (Ⅵ)
36. 9  
وَجَعَلْنَا مِن بَيْنِ أَيْدِيهِمْ سَدًّا وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِمْ سَدًّا فَأَغْشَيْنَاهُمْ فَهُمْ لَا يُبْصِرُونَ
- WajaAAalna min bayni aydeehim saddan wamin khalfihim saddan faaghshaynahum fahum la yubsiroona (Ⅰ)
- And We have made before them a barrier and a barrier behind them, then We have covered them over so that they see not. (Ⅱ)
- And We have set a bar before them and a bar behind them, and (thus) have covered them so that they see not. (Ⅲ)
- and We have put before them a barrier and behind them a barrier; and We have covered them, so they do not see. (Ⅳ)
- And We have put a bar in front of them and a bar behind them, and further, We have covered them up; so that they cannot see. (Ⅵ)
36. 10  
وَسَوَاءٌ عَلَيْهِمْ أَأَنذَرْتَهُمْ أَمْ لَمْ تُنذِرْهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
- Wasawaon AAalayhim aanthartahum am lam tunthirhum la yuminoona (Ⅰ)
- And it is alike to them whether you warn them or warn them not: they believe not. (Ⅱ)
- Whether thou warn them or thou warn them not, it is alike for them, for they believe not. (Ⅲ)
- Alike it is to them whether thou hast warned them or thou hast not warned them, they do not believe. (Ⅳ)
- The same is it to them whether thou admonish them or thou do not admonish them: they will not believe. (Ⅵ)
36. 11  
إِنَّمَا تُنذِرُ مَنِ اتَّبَعَ الذِّكْرَ وَخَشِيَ الرَّحْمَٰنَ بِالْغَيْبِ ۖ فَبَشِّرْهُ بِمَغْفِرَةٍ وَأَجْرٍ كَرِيمٍ
- Innama tunthiru mani ittabaAAa alththikra wakhashiya alrrahmana bialghaybi fabashshirhu bimaghfiratin waajrin kareemin (Ⅰ)
- You can only warn him who follows the Reminder (the Quran) and fears the Beneficent Allah in secret; so announce to him forgiveness and an honourable reward. (Ⅱ)
- Thou warnest only him who followeth the Reminder and feareth the Beneficent in secret. To him bear tidings of forgiveness and a rich reward. (Ⅲ)
- Thou only warnest him who follows the Remembrance and who fears the All-merciful in the Unseen; so give him the good tidings of forgiveness and a generous wage. (Ⅳ)
- Thou canst but admonish such a one as follows the Message and fears the (Lord) Most Gracious, unseen: give such a one, therefore, good tidings, of Forgiveness and a Reward most generous. (Ⅵ)
36. 12  
إِنَّا نَحْنُ نُحْيِي الْمَوْتَىٰ وَنَكْتُبُ مَا قَدَّمُوا وَآثَارَهُمْ ۚ وَكُلَّ شَيْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَاهُ فِي إِمَامٍ مُّبِينٍ
- Inna nahnu nuhyee almawta wanaktubu ma qaddamoo waatharahum wakulla shayin ahsaynahu fee imamin mubeenin (Ⅰ)
- Surely We give life to the dead, and We write down what they have sent before and their footprints, and We have recorded everything in a Clear Record. (Ⅱ)
- Lo! We it is Who bring the dead to life. We record that which they send before (them, and their footprints. And all things We have kept in a clear Register. (Ⅲ)
- Surely it is We who bring the dead to life and write down what they have forwarded and what they have left behind; everything We have numbered in a clear register. (Ⅳ)
- Verily We shall give life to the dead, and We record that which they send before and that which they leave behind, and of all things have We taken account in a clear Book (of evidence). (Ⅵ)
36. 13  
وَاضْرِبْ لَهُم مَّثَلًا أَصْحَابَ الْقَرْيَةِ إِذْ جَاءَهَا الْمُرْسَلُونَ
- Waidrib lahum mathalan ashaba alqaryati ith jaaha almursaloona (Ⅰ)
- And set out to them a similitude: The ´Companions of the City´, when the messengers came to it. (Ⅱ)
- Coin for them a similitude: The people of the city when those sent (from Allah) came unto them; (Ⅲ)
- Strike for them a similitude -- the inhabitants of the city, when the Envoys came to it; (Ⅳ)
- Set forth to them, by way of a parable, the (story of) the Companions of the City. Behold!, there came messengers to it. (Ⅵ)
36. 14  
إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَا إِلَيْهِمُ اثْنَيْنِ فَكَذَّبُوهُمَا فَعَزَّزْنَا بِثَالِثٍ فَقَالُوا إِنَّا إِلَيْكُم مُّرْسَلُونَ
- Ith arsalna ilayhimu ithnayni fakaththaboohuma faAAazzazna bithalithin faqaloo inna ilaykum mursaloona (Ⅰ)
- When We sent to them two, they rejected both of them, then We strengthened (them) with a third, and they said, "Surely we are messengers to you." (Ⅱ)
- When We sent unto them twain, and they denied them both, so We reinforced them with a third, and they said: Lo! we have been sent unto you. (Ⅲ)
- when We sent unto them two men, but they cried them lies, so We sent a third as reinforcement. They said, ´We are assuredly Envoys unto you. (Ⅳ)
- When We (first) sent to them two messengers, they rejected them: But We strengthened them with a third: they said, "Truly, we have been sent on a mission to you." (Ⅵ)
36. 15  
قَالُوا مَا أَنتُمْ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا وَمَا أَنزَلَ الرَّحْمَٰنُ مِن شَيْءٍ إِنْ أَنتُمْ إِلَّا تَكْذِبُونَ
- Qaloo ma antum illa basharun mithluna wama anzala alrrahmanu min shayin in antum illa takthiboona (Ⅰ)
- They said, "You are naught but mortals like ourselves, nor has the Beneficent Allah revealed anything; you only lie." (Ⅱ)
- They said: Ye are but mortals like unto us. The Beneficent hath naught revealed. Ye do but lie! (Ⅲ)
- They said, ´You are naught but mortals like us; the All-merciful has not sent down anything. You are speaking only lies.´ (Ⅳ)
- The (people) said: "Ye are only men like ourselves; and (Allah) Most Gracious sends no sort of revelation: ye do nothing but lie." (Ⅵ)
36. 16  
قَالُوا رَبُّنَا يَعْلَمُ إِنَّا إِلَيْكُمْ لَمُرْسَلُونَ
- Qaloo rabbuna yaAAlamu inna ilaykum lamursaloona (Ⅰ)
- They said, "Our Lord knows that we are most surely messengers to you. (Ⅱ)
- They answered: Our Lord knoweth that we are indeed sent unto you, (Ⅲ)
- They said, ´Our Lord knows we are Envoys unto you; (Ⅳ)
- They said: "Our Lord doth know that we have been sent on a mission to you: (Ⅵ)
36. 17  
وَمَا عَلَيْنَا إِلَّا الْبَلَاغُ الْمُبِينُ
- Wama AAalayna illa albalaghu almubeenu (Ⅰ)
- "And nothing devolves on us but a clear deliverance (of the message)." (Ⅱ)
- And our duty is but plain conveyance (of the message). (Ⅲ)
- and it is only for us to deliver the Manifest Message.´ (Ⅳ)
- "And our duty is only to proclaim the clear Message." (Ⅵ)
36. 18  
قَالُوا إِنَّا تَطَيَّرْنَا بِكُمْ ۖ لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهُوا لَنَرْجُمَنَّكُمْ وَلَيَمَسَّنَّكُم مِّنَّا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
- Qaloo inna tatayyarna bikum lain lam tantahoo lanarjumannakum walayamassannakum minna AAathabun aleemun (Ⅰ)
- They said, "Surely we augur (fear) evil from you; if you do not desist, we will certainly stone you, and there shall certainly afflict you a painful chastisement from us." (Ⅱ)
- (The people of the city) said: We augur ill of you. If ye desist not, we shall surely stone you, and grievous torture will befall you at our hands. (Ⅲ)
- They said, ´We augur ill of you. If you give not over, we will stone you and there shall visit you from us a painful chastisement.´ (Ⅳ)
- The (people) said: "for us, we augur an evil omen from you: if ye desist not, we will certainly stone you. And a grievous punishment indeed will be inflicted on you by us." (Ⅵ)
36. 19  
قَالُوا طَائِرُكُم مَّعَكُمْ ۚ أَئِن ذُكِّرْتُم ۚ بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٌ مُّسْرِفُونَ
- Qaloo tairukum maAAakum ain thukkirtum bal antum qawmun musrifoona (Ⅰ)
- They said, "Your evil omen (expectation, foreboding) is with yourselves. What! Is it because you are reminded? Nay, you are a people that transgress all bounds." (Ⅱ)
- They said: Your evil augury be with you! Is it because ye are reminded (of the truth) ? Nay, but ye are froward folk! (Ⅲ)
- They said, ´Your augury is with you; if you are reminded? But you are a prodigal people.´ (Ⅳ)
- They said: "Your evil omens are with yourselves: (deem ye this an evil omen). If ye are admonished? Nay, but ye are a people transgressing all bounds!" (Ⅵ)
36. 20  
وَجَاءَ مِنْ أَقْصَى الْمَدِينَةِ رَجُلٌ يَسْعَىٰ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اتَّبِعُوا الْمُرْسَلِينَ
- Wajaa min aqsa almadeenati rajulun yasAAa qala ya qawmi ittabiAAoo almursaleena (Ⅰ)
- And from the remote part of the city there came a man running, he said, "O my people! Follow the messengers; (Ⅱ)
- And there came from the uttermost part of the city a man running. He cried: O my people! Follow those who have been sent! (Ⅲ)
- Then came a man from the furthest part of the city, running; he said, ´My people, follow the Envoys! (Ⅳ)
- Then there came running, from the farthest part of the City, a man, saying, "O my people! Obey the messengers: (Ⅵ)
36. 21  
اتَّبِعُوا مَن لَّا يَسْأَلُكُمْ أَجْرًا وَهُم مُّهْتَدُونَ
- IttabiAAoo man la yasalukum ajran wahum muhtadoona (Ⅰ)
- "Follow him who does not ask you for reward, and who are the followers of the right course; (Ⅱ)
- Follow those who ask of you no fee, and who are rightly guided. (Ⅲ)
- Follow such as ask no wage of you, that are right-guided. (Ⅳ)
- "Obey those who ask no reward of you (for themselves), and who have themselves received Guidance. (Ⅵ)
36. 22  
وَمَا لِيَ لَا أَعْبُدُ الَّذِي فَطَرَنِي وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ
- Wama liya la aAAbudu allathee fataranee wailayhi turjaAAoona (Ⅰ)
- "And what reason have I that I should not serve Him Who brought me into existence? And to Him you shall be brought back; (Ⅱ)
- For what cause should I not serve Him Who hath created me, and unto Whom ye will be brought back ? (Ⅲ)
- And why should I not serve Him who originated me, and unto whom you shall be returned? (Ⅳ)
- "It would not be reasonable in me if I did not serve Him Who created me, and to Whom ye shall (all) be brought back. (Ⅵ)
36. 23  
أَأَتَّخِذُ مِن دُونِهِ آلِهَةً إِن يُرِدْنِ الرَّحْمَٰنُ بِضُرٍّ لَّا تُغْنِ عَنِّي شَفَاعَتُهُمْ شَيْئًا وَلَا يُنقِذُونِ
- Aattakhithu min doonihi alihatan in yuridni alrrahmanu bidurrin la tughni AAannee shafaAAatuhum shayan wala yunqithooni (Ⅰ)
- "What! Shall I take besides Him gods whose intercession, if the Beneficent Allah should desire to afflict me with harm, shall not avail me aught, nor shall they be able to deliver me? (Ⅱ)
- Shall I take (other) gods in place of Him when, if the Beneficent should wish me any harm, their intercession will avail me naught, nor can they save ? (Ⅲ)
- What, shall I take, apart from Him, gods whose intercession, if the All-merciful desires affliction for me, shall not avail me anything, and who will never deliver me? (Ⅳ)
- "Shall I take (other) gods besides Him? If (Allah) Most Gracious should intend some adversity for me, of no use whatever will be their intercession for me, nor can they deliver me. (Ⅵ)
36. 24  
إِنِّي إِذًا لَّفِي ضَلَالٍ مُّبِينٍ
- Innee ithan lafee dalalin mubeenin (Ⅰ)
- "Then truly I shall manifest (clear, obvious) error: (Ⅱ)
- Then truly I should be in error manifest. (Ⅲ)
- Surely in that case I should be in manifest error. (Ⅳ)
- "I would indeed, if I were to do so, be in manifest Error. (Ⅵ)
36. 25  
إِنِّي آمَنتُ بِرَبِّكُمْ فَاسْمَعُونِ
- Innee amantu birabbikum faismaAAooni (Ⅰ)
- "Verily, I believe in your Lord, therefore hear me." (Ⅱ)
- Lo! I have believed in your Lord, so hear me! (Ⅲ)
- Behold, I believe in your Lord; therefore hear me!´ (Ⅳ)
- "For me, I have faith in the Lord of you (all): listen, then, to me!" (Ⅵ)
36. 26  
قِيلَ ادْخُلِ الْجَنَّةَ ۖ قَالَ يَا لَيْتَ قَوْمِي يَعْلَمُونَ
- Qeela odkhuli aljannata qala ya layta qawmee yaAAlamoona (Ⅰ)
- It was said (unto him), "Enter the garden." He said, "O would that my people knew (Ⅱ)
- It was said (unto him): Enter paradise. He said: Would that my people knew (Ⅲ)
- It was said, ´Enter Paradise!´ He said, ´Ah, would that my people had knowledge (Ⅳ)
- It was said: "Enter thou the Garden." He said: "Ah me! Would that my People knew (what I know)!- (Ⅵ)
36. 27  
بِمَا غَفَرَ لِي رَبِّي وَجَعَلَنِي مِنَ الْمُكْرَمِينَ
- Bima ghafara lee rabbee wajaAAalanee mina almukrameena (Ⅰ)
- "Of that on account of which my Lord has forgiven me and made me of the honoured ones!" (Ⅱ)
- With what (munificence) my Lord hath pardoned me and made me of the honoured ones! (Ⅲ)
- that my Lord has forgiven me and that He has placed me among the honoured.´ (Ⅳ)
- "For that my Lord has granted me Forgiveness and has enrolled me among those held in honour!" (Ⅵ)
36. 28  
۞ وَمَا أَنزَلْنَا عَلَىٰ قَوْمِهِ مِن بَعْدِهِ مِن جُندٍ مِّنَ السَّمَاءِ وَمَا كُنَّا مُنزِلِينَ
- Wama anzalna AAala qawmihi min baAAdihi min jundin mina alssamai wama kunna munzileena (Ⅰ)
- And We sent not down upon his people after him any hosts from heaven, nor do We need to send. (Ⅱ)
- We sent not down against his people after him a host from heaven, nor do We ever send. (Ⅲ)
- And We sent not down upon his people, after him, any host out of heaven; neither would We send any down. (Ⅳ)
- And We sent not down against his People, after him, any hosts from heaven, nor was it needful for Us so to do. (Ⅵ)
36. 29  
إِن كَانَتْ إِلَّا صَيْحَةً وَاحِدَةً فَإِذَا هُمْ خَامِدُونَ
- In kanat illa sayhatan wahidatan faitha hum khamidoona (Ⅰ)
- It was naught but a single Shout, and lo! They were still and silenced (extinct). (Ⅱ)
- It was but one Shout, and lo! they were extinct. (Ⅲ)
- It was only one Cry and lo, they were silent and still. (Ⅳ)
- It was no more than a single mighty Blast, and behold! they were (like ashes) quenched and silent. (Ⅵ)
36. 30  
يَا حَسْرَةً عَلَى الْعِبَادِ ۚ مَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ
- Ya hasratan AAala alAAibadi ma yateehim min rasoolin illa kanoo bihi yastahzioona (Ⅰ)
- Alas for the servants! There comes not to them a messenger but they mock at him. (Ⅱ)
- Ah, the anguish for the bondmen! Never came there unto them a messenger but they did mock him! (Ⅲ)
- Ah, woe for those servants! Never comes unto them a Messenger, but they mock at him. (Ⅳ)
- Ah! Alas for (My) Servants! There comes not a messenger to them but they mock him! (Ⅵ)
36. 31  
أَلَمْ يَرَوْا كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُم مِّنَ الْقُرُونِ أَنَّهُمْ إِلَيْهِمْ لَا يَرْجِعُونَ
- Alam yaraw kam ahlakna qablahum mina alqurooni annahum ilayhim la yarjiAAoona (Ⅰ)
- Do they not consider how many of the generations have We destroyed before them, because they do not turn to them (the messengers) (or which return not unto the people)? (Ⅱ)
- Have they not seen how many generations We destroyed before them, which indeed returned not unto them; (Ⅲ)
- What, have they not seen how many generations We have destroyed before them, and that it is not unto them that they return? (Ⅳ)
- See they not how many generations before them we destroyed? Not to them will they return: (Ⅵ)
36. 32  
وَإِن كُلٌّ لَّمَّا جَمِيعٌ لَّدَيْنَا مُحْضَرُونَ
- Wain kullun lamma jameeAAun ladayna muhdaroona (Ⅰ)
- And all of them shall surely be brought before Us. (Ⅱ)
- But all, without exception, will be brought before Us. (Ⅲ)
- They shall every one of them be arraigned before Us. (Ⅳ)
- But each one of them all - will be brought before Us (for judgment). (Ⅵ)
36. 33  
وَآيَةٌ لَّهُمُ الْأَرْضُ الْمَيْتَةُ أَحْيَيْنَاهَا وَأَخْرَجْنَا مِنْهَا حَبًّا فَمِنْهُ يَأْكُلُونَ
- Waayatun lahumu alardu almaytatu ahyaynaha waakhrajna minha habban faminhu yakuloona (Ⅰ)
- And a sign to them is the dead earth: We give life to it and bring forth from it grain so they eat of it. (Ⅱ)
- A token unto them is the dead earth. We revive it, and We bring forth from it grain so that they eat thereof; (Ⅲ)
- And a sign for them is the dead land, that We quickened and brought forth from it grain, whereof they eat; (Ⅳ)
- A Sign for them is the earth that is dead: We do give it life, and produce grain therefrom, of which ye do eat. (Ⅵ)
36. 34  
وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا جَنَّاتٍ مِّن نَّخِيلٍ وَأَعْنَابٍ وَفَجَّرْنَا فِيهَا مِنَ الْعُيُونِ
- WajaAAalna feeha jannatin min nakheelin waaAAnabin wafajjarna feeha mina alAAuyooni (Ⅰ)
- And We make therein orchards of palms and grapevines and We make springs to flow forth in it, (Ⅱ)
- And We have placed therein gardens of the date-palm and grapes, and We have caused springs of water to gush forth therein, (Ⅲ)
- and We made therein gardens of palms and vines, and therein We caused fountains to gush forth, (Ⅳ)
- And We produce therein orchard with date-palms and vines, and We cause springs to gush forth therein: (Ⅵ)
36. 35  
لِيَأْكُلُوا مِن ثَمَرِهِ وَمَا عَمِلَتْهُ أَيْدِيهِمْ ۖ أَفَلَا يَشْكُرُونَ
- Liyakuloo min thamarihi wama AAamilathu aydeehim afala yashkuroona (Ⅰ)
- that they may eat of the fruit thereof, and their hands did not make it; will they not then be grateful? (Ⅱ)
- That they may eat of the fruit thereof, and their hands made it not. Will they not, then, give thanks ? (Ⅲ)
- that they might eat of its fruits and their hands´ labour. What, will they not be thankful? (Ⅳ)
- That they may enjoy the fruits of this (artistry): It was not their hands that made this: will they not then give thanks? (Ⅵ)
36. 36  
سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ الْأَزْوَاجَ كُلَّهَا مِمَّا تُنبِتُ الْأَرْضُ وَمِنْ أَنفُسِهِمْ وَمِمَّا لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
- Subhana allathee khalaqa alazwaja kullaha mimma tunbitu alardu wamin anfusihim wamimma la yaAAlamoona (Ⅰ)
- Glory be to Him Who created pairs of all things, of what the earth grows, and of their kind and of what they know not. (Ⅱ)
- Glory be to Him Who created all the sexual pairs, of that which the earth groweth, and of themselves, and of that which they know not! (Ⅲ)
- Glory be to Him, who created all the pairs of what the earth produces, and of themselves, and of what they know not. (Ⅳ)
- Glory to Allah, Who created in pairs all things that the earth produces, as well as their own (human) kind and (other) things of which they have no knowledge. (Ⅵ)
36. 37  
وَآيَةٌ لَّهُمُ اللَّيْلُ نَسْلَخُ مِنْهُ النَّهَارَ فَإِذَا هُم مُّظْلِمُونَ
- Waayatun lahumu allaylu naslakhu minhu alnnahara faitha hum muthlimoona (Ⅰ)
- And a sign to them is the night: We draw forth from it the day, then lo! They are in the dark; (Ⅱ)
- A token unto them is night. We strip it of the day, and lo! they are in darkness. (Ⅲ)
- And a sign for them is the night; We strip it of the day and lo, they are in darkness. (Ⅳ)
- And a Sign for them is the Night: We withdraw therefrom the Day, and behold they are plunged in darkness; (Ⅵ)
36. 38  
وَالشَّمْسُ تَجْرِي لِمُسْتَقَرٍّ لَّهَا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ تَقْدِيرُ الْعَزِيزِ الْعَلِيمِ
- Waalshshamsu tajree limustaqarrin laha thalika taqdeeru alAAazeezi alAAaleemi (Ⅰ)
- And the sun runs on to a term appointed for it; that is the ordinance of the Mighty, the Knowing. (Ⅱ)
- And the sun runneth on unto a resting-place for him. That is the measuring of the Mighty, the Wise. (Ⅲ)
- And the sun -- it runs to a fixed resting-place; that is the ordaining of the All-mighty, the All-knowing. (Ⅳ)
- And the sun runs his course for a period determined for him: that is the decree of (Him), the Exalted in Might, the All-Knowing. (Ⅵ)
36. 39  
وَالْقَمَرَ قَدَّرْنَاهُ مَنَازِلَ حَتَّىٰ عَادَ كَالْعُرْجُونِ الْقَدِيمِ
- Waalqamara qaddarnahu manazila hatta AAada kaalAAurjooni alqadeemi (Ⅰ)
- And as for the moon, We have ordained for it stages till it becomes again as an old dry palm leaf. (Ⅱ)
- And for the moon We have appointed mansions till she return like an old shrivelled palm-leaf. (Ⅲ)
- And the moon -- We have determined it by stations, till it returns like an aged palm-bough. (Ⅳ)
- And the Moon,- We have measured for her mansions (to traverse) till she returns like the old (and withered) lower part of a date-stalk. (Ⅵ)
36. 40  
لَا الشَّمْسُ يَنبَغِي لَهَا أَن تُدْرِكَ الْقَمَرَ وَلَا اللَّيْلُ سَابِقُ النَّهَارِ ۚ وَكُلٌّ فِي فَلَكٍ يَسْبَحُونَ
- La alshshamsu yanbaghee laha an tudrika alqamara wala allaylu sabiqu alnnahari wakullun fee falakin yasbahoona (Ⅰ)
- Neither is it allowable to the sun that it should overtake the moon, nor can the night outstrip the day; and all float on in their own orbits. (Ⅱ)
- It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor doth the night outstrip the day. They float each in an orbit. (Ⅲ)
- It behoves not the sun to overtake the moon, neither does the night outstrip the day, each swimming in a sky. (Ⅳ)
- It is not permitted to the Sun to catch up the Moon, nor can the Night outstrip the Day: Each (just) swims along in (its own) orbit (according to Law). (Ⅵ)
36. 41  
وَآيَةٌ لَّهُمْ أَنَّا حَمَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ فِي الْفُلْكِ الْمَشْحُونِ
- Waayatun lahum anna hamalna thurriyyatahum fee alfulki almashhooni (Ⅰ)
- And a sign to them is that We bear their offspring in the laden vessels (or their race in an ark through the flood). (Ⅱ)
- And a token unto them is that We bear their offspring in the laden ship, (Ⅲ)
- And a sign for them is that We carried their seed in the laden ship, (Ⅳ)
- And a Sign for them is that We bore their race (through the Flood) in the loaded Ark; (Ⅵ)
36. 42  
وَخَلَقْنَا لَهُم مِّن مِّثْلِهِ مَا يَرْكَبُونَ
- Wakhalaqna lahum min mithlihi ma yarkaboona (Ⅰ)
- And We have created for them the like of it, in which they ride. (Ⅱ)
- And have created for them of the like thereof whereon they ride. (Ⅲ)
- and We have created for them the like of it whereon they ride; (Ⅳ)
- And We have created for them similar (vessels) on which they ride. (Ⅵ)
36. 43  
وَإِن نَّشَأْ نُغْرِقْهُمْ فَلَا صَرِيخَ لَهُمْ وَلَا هُمْ يُنقَذُونَ
- Wain nasha nughriqhum fala sareekha lahum wala hum yunqathoona (Ⅰ)
- And if We please, We can drown them, then there shall be no helper for them, nor shall they be rescued. (Ⅱ)
- And if We will, We drown them, and there is no help for them, neither can they be saved; (Ⅲ)
- and if We will, We drown them, then none have they to cry to, neither are they delivered, (Ⅳ)
- If it were Our Will, We could drown them: then would there be no helper (to hear their cry), nor could they be delivered, (Ⅵ)
36. 44  
إِلَّا رَحْمَةً مِّنَّا وَمَتَاعًا إِلَىٰ حِينٍ
- Illa rahmatan minna wamataAAan ila heenin (Ⅰ)
- Unless by mercy from Us and for enjoyment for a time. (Ⅱ)
- Unless by mercy from Us and as comfort for a while. (Ⅲ)
- save as a mercy from Us, and enjoyment for a while. (Ⅳ)
- Except by way of Mercy from Us, and by way of (world) convenience (to serve them) for a time. (Ⅵ)
36. 45  
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ اتَّقُوا مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَمَا خَلْفَكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ
- Waitha qeela lahumu ittaqoo ma bayna aydeekum wama khalfakum laAAallakum turhamoona (Ⅰ)
- And when it is said to them, "Guard against what is before you and what is behind you, that per chance (or possibly) you may find mercy.... (they are heedless) (Ⅱ)
- When it is said unto them: Beware of that which is before you and that which is behind you, that haply ye may find mercy (they are heedless). (Ⅲ)
- And when it is said to them, ´Fear what is before you and what is behind you; haply you will find mercy´ -- (Ⅳ)
- When they are told, "Fear ye that which is before you and that which will be after you, in order that ye may receive Mercy," (they turn back). (Ⅵ)
36. 46  
وَمَا تَأْتِيهِم مِّنْ آيَةٍ مِّنْ آيَاتِ رَبِّهِمْ إِلَّا كَانُوا عَنْهَا مُعْرِضِينَ
- Wama tateehim min ayatin min ayati rabbihim illa kanoo AAanha muAArideena (Ⅰ)
- And there comes not to them a sign from among the signs of their Lord but they turn away from it. (Ⅱ)
- Never came a token of the tokens of their Lord to them, but they did turn away from it! (Ⅲ)
- yet never any sign of the signs of their Lord comes to them, but they are turning away from it. (Ⅳ)
- Not a Sign comes to them from among the Signs of their Lord, but they turn away therefrom. (Ⅵ)
36. 47  
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ أَنفِقُوا مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ اللَّهُ قَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَنُطْعِمُ مَن لَّوْ يَشَاءُ اللَّهُ أَطْعَمَهُ إِنْ أَنتُمْ إِلَّا فِي ضَلَالٍ مُّبِينٍ
- Waitha qeela lahum anfiqoo mimma razaqakumu Allahu qala allatheena kafaroo lillatheena amanoo anutAAimu man law yashao Allahu atAAamahu in antum illa fee dalalin mubeenin (Ⅰ)
- And when it is said to them, "Spend of that which Allah has given you", those who disbelieve say to those who believe, "Shall we feed him whom, if Allah please, He could feed? You are in naught but clear error." (Ⅱ)
- And when it is said unto them: Spend of that wherewith Allah hath provided you, those who disbelieve say unto those who believe: Shall we feed those whom Allah, if He willed, would feed ? Ye are in naught else than error manifest. (Ⅲ)
- And when it is said to them, ´Expend of that God has provided you,´ the unbelievers say to the believers, ´What, shall we feed such a one whom, if God willed, He would feed? You are only in manifest error!´ (Ⅳ)
- And when they are told, "Spend ye of (the bounties) with which Allah has provided you," the Unbelievers say to those who believe: "Shall we then feed those whom, if Allah had so willed, He would have fed, (Himself)?- Ye are in nothing but manifest error." (Ⅵ)
36. 48  
وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَٰذَا الْوَعْدُ إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ
- Wayaqooloona mata hatha alwaAAdu in kuntum sadiqeena (Ⅰ)
- And they say, "When will this threat come to pass, if you are truthful?" (Ⅱ)
- And they say: When will this promise be fulfilled, if ye are truthful ? (Ⅲ)
- They also say, ´When shall this promise come to pass, if you speak truly?´ (Ⅳ)
- Further, they say, "When will this promise (come to pass), if what ye say is true?" (Ⅵ)
36. 49  
مَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا صَيْحَةً وَاحِدَةً تَأْخُذُهُمْ وَهُمْ يَخِصِّمُونَ
- Ma yanthuroona illa sayhatan wahidatan takhuthuhum wahum yakhissimoona (Ⅰ)
- They wait not for aught but a single Shout (or Blast) which will surprise them while they yet dispute with one another. (Ⅱ)
- They await but one Shout, which will surprise them while they are disputing. (Ⅲ)
- They are awaiting only for one Cry to seize them while they are yet disputing, (Ⅳ)
- They will not (have to) wait for aught but a single Blast: it will seize them while they are yet disputing among themselves! (Ⅵ)
