37. 0  
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
- Alhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameena (Ⅰ)
- The Beneficent, the Merciful, (Ⅱ)
- In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. (Ⅲ)
- Praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being, (Ⅳ)
- Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds; (Ⅵ)
37. 1  
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ وَالصَّافَّاتِ صَفًّا
- Waalssaffati saffan (Ⅰ)
- I swear by those who draw themselves out in ranks. (Ⅱ)
- By those who set the ranks in battle order (Ⅲ)
- By the rangers ranging (Ⅳ)
- By those who range themselves in ranks, (Ⅵ)
37. 2  
فَالزَّاجِرَاتِ زَجْرًا
- Faalzzajirati zajran (Ⅰ)
- Then those who drive away (evil or the wicked) with reproof (or strength), (Ⅱ)
- And those who drive away (the wicked) with reproof (Ⅲ)
- and the scarers scaring (Ⅳ)
- And so are strong in repelling (evil), (Ⅵ)
37. 3  
فَالتَّالِيَاتِ ذِكْرًا
- Faalttaliyati thikran (Ⅰ)
- Then those who recite (proclaim), with mindfulness, (Ⅱ)
- And those who read (the Word) for a reminder, (Ⅲ)
- and the reciters of a Remembrance, (Ⅳ)
- And thus proclaim the Message (of Allah)! (Ⅵ)
37. 4  
إِنَّ إِلَٰهَكُمْ لَوَاحِدٌ
- Inna ilahakum lawahidun (Ⅰ)
- "Verily, verily your God is One: (Ⅱ)
- Lo! thy Lord is surely One; (Ⅲ)
- surely your God is One, (Ⅳ)
- Verily, verily, your Allah is one!- (Ⅵ)
37. 5  
رَّبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَرَبُّ الْمَشَارِقِ
- Rabbu alssamawati waalardi wama baynahuma warabbu almashariqi (Ⅰ)
- "The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, and Lord of the Easts (i.e. all the sun´s rising point)." (Ⅱ)
- Lord of the heavens and of the earth and all that is between them, and Lord of the sun's risings. (Ⅲ)
- Lord of the heavens and the earth, and of what between them is Lord of the Easts. (Ⅳ)
- Lord of the heavens and of the earth and all between them, and Lord of every point at the rising of the sun! (Ⅵ)
37. 6  
إِنَّا زَيَّنَّا السَّمَاءَ الدُّنْيَا بِزِينَةٍ الْكَوَاكِبِ
- Inna zayyanna alssamaa alddunya bizeenatin alkawakibi (Ⅰ)
- Surely We have adorned the nearest heaven with an adornment, the stars, (Ⅱ)
- Lo! We have adorned the lowest heaven with an ornament, the planets; (Ⅲ)
- We have adorned the lower heaven with the adornment of the stars (Ⅳ)
- We have indeed decked the lower heaven with beauty (in) the stars,- (Ⅵ)
37. 7  
وَحِفْظًا مِّن كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ مَّارِدٍ
- Wahifthan min kulli shaytanin maridin (Ⅰ)
- And (there is) a safeguard against every rebellious Satan. (Ⅱ)
- With security from every froward devil. (Ⅲ)
- and to preserve against every rebel Satan; (Ⅳ)
- (For beauty) and for guard against all obstinate rebellious evil spirits, (Ⅵ)
37. 8  
لَّا يَسَّمَّعُونَ إِلَى الْمَلَإِ الْأَعْلَىٰ وَيُقْذَفُونَ مِن كُلِّ جَانِبٍ
- La yassammaAAoona ila almalai alaAAla wayuqthafoona min kulli janibin (Ⅰ)
- They cannot listen to the exalted assembly and they are thrown at from every side, (Ⅱ)
- They cannot listen to the Highest Chiefs for they are pelted from every side, (Ⅲ)
- they listen not to the High Council, for they are pelted from every side, (Ⅳ)
- (So) they should not strain their ears in the direction of the Exalted Assembly but be cast away from every side, (Ⅵ)
37. 9  
دُحُورًا ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ وَاصِبٌ
- Duhooran walahum AAathabun wasibun (Ⅰ)
- Being driven off, and for them is a perpetual chastisement, (Ⅱ)
- Outcast, and theirs is a perpetual torment; (Ⅲ)
- rejected, and theirs is an everlasting chastisement, (Ⅳ)
- Repulsed, for they are under a perpetual penalty, (Ⅵ)
37. 10  
إِلَّا مَنْ خَطِفَ الْخَطْفَةَ فَأَتْبَعَهُ شِهَابٌ ثَاقِبٌ
- Illa man khatifa alkhatfata faatbaAAahu shihabun thaqibun (Ⅰ)
- Except him who snatches a fragment by stealth, then there follows him a brightly shining flame. (Ⅱ)
- Save him who snatcheth a fragment, and there pursueth him a piercing flame. (Ⅲ)
- except such as snatches a fragment, and he is pursued by a piercing flame. (Ⅳ)
- Except such as snatch away something by stealth, and they are pursued by a flaming fire, of piercing brightness. (Ⅵ)
37. 11  
فَاسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَهُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَم مَّنْ خَلَقْنَا ۚ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَاهُم مِّن طِينٍ لَّازِبٍ
- Faistaftihim ahum ashaddu khalqan am man khalaqna inna khalaqnahum min teenin lazibin (Ⅰ)
- Then ask them whether they are stronger in creation or those (others) whom We have created. Surely We created them of plastic (malleable) clay. (Ⅱ)
- Then ask them (O Muhammad): Are they stronger as a creation, or those (others) whom we have created ? Lo! We created them of plastic clay. (Ⅲ)
- So ask them for a pronouncement -- Are they stronger in constitution, or those We created? We created them of clinging clay. (Ⅳ)
- Just ask their opinion: are they the more difficult to create, or the (other) beings We have created? Them have We created out of a sticky clay! (Ⅵ)
37. 12  
بَلْ عَجِبْتَ وَيَسْخَرُونَ
- Bal AAajibta wayaskharoona (Ⅰ)
- Nay! You wonder while they mock, (Ⅱ)
- Nay, but thou dost marvel when they mock (Ⅲ)
- Nay, thou marvellest; and they scoff (Ⅳ)
- Truly dost thou marvel, while they ridicule, (Ⅵ)
37. 13  
وَإِذَا ذُكِّرُوا لَا يَذْكُرُونَ
- Waitha thukkiroo la yathkuroona (Ⅰ)
- And when they are reminded, they mind (heed) not, (Ⅱ)
- And heed not when they are reminded, (Ⅲ)
- and, when reminded, do not remember (Ⅳ)
- And, when they are admonished, pay no heed,- (Ⅵ)
37. 14  
وَإِذَا رَأَوْا آيَةً يَسْتَسْخِرُونَ
- Waitha raaw ayatan yastaskhiroona (Ⅰ)
- And when they see a sign they incite one another to scoff, (Ⅱ)
- And seek to scoff when they behold a portent. (Ⅲ)
- and, when they see a sign, would scoff; (Ⅳ)
- And, when they see a Sign, turn it to mockery, (Ⅵ)
37. 15  
وَقَالُوا إِنْ هَٰذَا إِلَّا سِحْرٌ مُّبِينٌ
- Waqaloo in hatha illa sihrun mubeenun (Ⅰ)
- And they say, "This is nothing but clear magic. (Ⅱ)
- And they say: Lo! this is mere magic; (Ⅲ)
- and they say, ´This is nothing but manifest sorcery. (Ⅳ)
- And say, "This is nothing but evident sorcery! (Ⅵ)
37. 16  
أَإِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَامًا أَإِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ
- Aitha mitna wakunna turaban waAAithaman ainna lamabAAoothoona (Ⅰ)
- "What! When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then certainly be raised, (Ⅱ)
- When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then, forsooth, be raised (again) ? (Ⅲ)
- What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be raised up? (Ⅳ)
- "What! when we die, and become dust and bones, shall we (then) be raised up (again) (Ⅵ)
37. 17  
أَوَآبَاؤُنَا الْأَوَّلُونَ
- Awaabaona alawwaloona (Ⅰ)
- "Or our fathers of past times (ancestors)?" (Ⅱ)
- And our forefathers ? (Ⅲ)
- What, and our fathers, the ancients?´ (Ⅳ)
- "And also our fathers of old?" (Ⅵ)
37. 18  
قُلْ نَعَمْ وَأَنتُمْ دَاخِرُونَ
- Qul naAAam waantum dakhiroona (Ⅰ)
- Say, "Aye! And you shall be abject (humiliated)." (Ⅱ)
- Say (O Muhammad): Ye, in truth; and ye will be brought low. (Ⅲ)
- Say: ´Yes, and in all lowliness.´ (Ⅳ)
- Say thou: "Yea, and ye shall then be humiliated (on account of your evil)." (Ⅵ)
37. 19  
فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ زَجْرَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ فَإِذَا هُمْ يَنظُرُونَ
- Fainnama hiya zajratun wahidatun faitha hum yanthuroona (Ⅰ)
- So it shall only be a single Shout, when lo! They shall see. (Ⅱ)
- There is but one Shout, and lo! they behold, (Ⅲ)
- For it is only a single scaring, then behold, they are watching (Ⅳ)
- Then it will be a single (compelling) cry; and behold, they will begin to see! (Ⅵ)
37. 20  
وَقَالُوا يَا وَيْلَنَا هَٰذَا يَوْمُ الدِّينِ
- Waqaloo ya waylana hatha yawmu alddeeni (Ⅰ)
- And they shall say, "O woe to us! This is the Day of Judgment." (Ⅱ)
- And say: Ah, woe for us! This is the Day of Judgment. (Ⅲ)
- and they say, ´Woe, alas for us! This is the Day of Doom.´ (Ⅳ)
- They will say, "Ah! Woe to us! This is the Day of Judgment!" (Ⅵ)
37. 21  
هَٰذَا يَوْمُ الْفَصْلِ الَّذِي كُنتُم بِهِ تُكَذِّبُونَ
- Hatha yawmu alfasli allathee kuntum bihi tukaththiboona (Ⅰ)
- (A voice will say,) "This is the Day of the Judgment which you called a lie. (Ⅱ)
- This is the Day of Separation, which ye used to deny. (Ⅲ)
- ´This is the Day of Decision, even that you cried lies to. (Ⅳ)
- (A voice will say,) "This is the Day of Sorting Out, whose truth ye (once) denied!" (Ⅵ)
37. 22  
۞ احْشُرُوا الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا وَأَزْوَاجَهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا يَعْبُدُونَ
- Ohshuroo allatheena thalamoo waazwajahum wama kanoo yaAAbudoona (Ⅰ)
- "Gather together those who were unjust and their associates, and what they used to worship (Ⅱ)
- (And it is said unto the angels): Assemble those who did wrong, together with their wives and what they used to worship (Ⅲ)
- Muster those who did evil, their wives, and that they were serving, (Ⅳ)
- "Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped- (Ⅵ)
37. 23  
مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ فَاهْدُوهُمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَاطِ الْجَحِيمِ
- Min dooni Allahi faihdoohum ila sirati aljaheemi (Ⅰ)
- "Besides Allah, then lead them to the way to hell. (Ⅱ)
- Instead of Allah, and lead them to the path to hell; (Ⅲ)
- apart from God, and guide them unto the path of Hell! (Ⅳ)
- "Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the (Fierce) Fire! (Ⅵ)
37. 24  
وَقِفُوهُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُم مَّسْئُولُونَ
- Waqifoohum innahum masooloona (Ⅰ)
- "And stop them, for they must be questioned: (Ⅱ)
- And stop them, for they must be questioned. (Ⅲ)
- And halt them, to be questioned: (Ⅳ)
- "But stop them, for they must be asked: (Ⅵ)
37. 25  
مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنَاصَرُونَ
- Ma lakum la tanasaroona (Ⅰ)
- "What ails you that you do not help each other?" (Ⅱ)
- What aileth you that ye help not one another ? (Ⅲ)
- "Why help you not one another?" (Ⅳ)
- "´What is the matter with you that ye help not each other?´" (Ⅵ)
37. 26  
بَلْ هُمُ الْيَوْمَ مُسْتَسْلِمُونَ
- Bal humu alyawma mustaslimoona (Ⅰ)
- Nay! On that day they shall be submissive. (Ⅱ)
- Nay, but this day they make full submission. (Ⅲ)
- No indeed; but today they resign themselves in submission (Ⅳ)
- Nay, but that day they shall submit (to Judgment); (Ⅵ)
37. 27  
وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ
- Waaqbala baAAduhum AAala baAAdin yatasaaloona (Ⅰ)
- And some of them shall advance towards others, questioning each other. (Ⅱ)
- And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. (Ⅲ)
- and advance one upon another, asking each other questions. (Ⅳ)
- And they will turn to one another, and question one another. (Ⅵ)
37. 28  
قَالُوا إِنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ تَأْتُونَنَا عَنِ الْيَمِينِ
- Qaloo innakum kuntum tatoonana AAani alyameeni (Ⅰ)
- They shall say, "Surely you used to come to us from the right hand side." (Ⅱ)
- They say: Lo! ye used to come unto us, imposing, (swearing that ye spoke the truth). (Ⅲ)
- These say, ´Why, you of old would come to us from the right hand.´ (Ⅳ)
- They will say: "It was ye who used to come to us from the right hand (of power and authority)!" (Ⅵ)
37. 29  
قَالُوا بَل لَّمْ تَكُونُوا مُؤْمِنِينَ
- Qaloo bal lam takoonoo mumineena (Ⅰ)
- They shall say, "Nay, you (yourselves) were not believers; (Ⅱ)
- They answer: Nay, but ye (yourselves) were not believers. (Ⅲ)
- Those say, ´No; on the contrary, you were not believers; (Ⅳ)
- They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith! (Ⅵ)
37. 30  
وَمَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَيْكُم مِّن سُلْطَانٍ ۖ بَلْ كُنتُمْ قَوْمًا طَاغِينَ
- Wama kana lana AAalaykum min sultanin bal kuntum qawman tagheena (Ⅰ)
- "And we had no authority over you, but you were a wayward people; (Ⅱ)
- We had no power over you, but ye were wayward folk. (Ⅲ)
- we had no authority over you; no, you were an insolent people. (Ⅳ)
- "Nor had we any authority over you. Nay, it was ye who were a people in obstinate rebellion! (Ⅵ)
37. 31  
فَحَقَّ عَلَيْنَا قَوْلُ رَبِّنَا ۖ إِنَّا لَذَائِقُونَ
- Fahaqqa AAalayna qawlu rabbina inna lathaiqoona (Ⅰ)
- "So the sentence of our Lord has come to pass against us: we shall surely taste (punishment); (Ⅱ)
- Now the Word of our Lord hath been fulfilled concerning us. Lo! we are about to taste (the doom). (Ⅲ)
- So our Lord´s Word is realised against us; we are tasting it. (Ⅳ)
- "So now has been proved true, against us, the word of our Lord that we shall indeed (have to) taste (the punishment of our sins). (Ⅵ)
37. 32  
فَأَغْوَيْنَاكُمْ إِنَّا كُنَّا غَاوِينَ
- Faaghwaynakum inna kunna ghaweena (Ⅰ)
- "We led you astray, for we were ourselves erring." (Ⅱ)
- Thus we misled you. Lo! we were (ourselves) astray. (Ⅲ)
- Therefore we perverted you, and we ourselves were perverts.´ (Ⅳ)
- "We led you astray: for truly we were ourselves astray." (Ⅵ)
37. 33  
فَإِنَّهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ فِي الْعَذَابِ مُشْتَرِكُونَ
- Fainnahum yawmaithin fee alAAathabi mushtarikoona (Ⅰ)
- So they shall on that day be sharers in the chastisement one with another. (Ⅱ)
- Then lo! this day they (both) are sharers in the doom. (Ⅲ)
- So all of them on that day are sharers in the chastisement. (Ⅳ)
- Truly, that Day, they will (all) share in the Penalty. (Ⅵ)
37. 34  
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِالْمُجْرِمِينَ
- Inna kathalika nafAAalu bialmujrimeena (Ⅰ)
- Surely thus do We deal with the guilty. (Ⅱ)
- Lo! thus deal We with the guilty. (Ⅲ)
- Even so We do with the sinners; (Ⅳ)
- Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners. (Ⅵ)
37. 35  
إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا إِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ
- Innahum kanoo itha qeela lahum la ilaha illa Allahu yastakbiroona (Ⅰ)
- Surely they used to behave arrogantly when it was said to them, "There is no God but Allah." (Ⅱ)
- For when it was said unto them, There is no God save Allah, they were scornful (Ⅲ)
- for when it was said to them, ´There is no god but God,´ they were ever waxing proud, (Ⅳ)
- For they, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, would puff themselves up with Pride, (Ⅵ)
37. 36  
وَيَقُولُونَ أَئِنَّا لَتَارِكُو آلِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِرٍ مَّجْنُونٍ
- Wayaqooloona ainna latarikoo alihatina lishaAAirin majnoonin (Ⅰ)
- And said, "What! Shall we indeed give up our gods for the sake of a mad poet?" (Ⅱ)
- And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet ? (Ⅲ)
- saying, ´What, shall we forsake our gods for a poet possessed?´ (Ⅳ)
- And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?" (Ⅵ)
37. 37  
بَلْ جَاءَ بِالْحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ
- Bal jaa bialhaqqi wasaddaqa almursaleena (Ⅰ)
- Nay, he has come with the truth and verified the (messages of) the Messengers sent before him. (Ⅱ)
- Nay, but he brought the Truth, and he confirmed those sent (before him). (Ⅲ)
- ´No indeed; but he brought the truth, and confirmed the Envoys. (Ⅳ)
- Nay! he has come with the (very) Truth, and he confirms (the Message of) the messengers (before him). (Ⅵ)
37. 38  
إِنَّكُمْ لَذَائِقُو الْعَذَابِ الْأَلِيمِ
- Innakum lathaiqoo alAAathabi alaleemi (Ⅰ)
- Most surely you will taste the painful punishment. (Ⅱ)
- Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom - (Ⅲ)
- Now certainly you shall be tasting the painful chastisement, (Ⅳ)
- Ye shall indeed taste of the Grievous Penalty;- (Ⅵ)
37. 39  
وَمَا تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
- Wama tujzawna illa ma kuntum taAAmaloona (Ⅰ)
- And you shall not be punished except for what you did. (Ⅱ)
- Ye are requited naught save what ye did - (Ⅲ)
- and not be recompensed, except according to what you were doing.´ (Ⅳ)
- But it will be no more than the retribution of (the Evil) that ye have wrought;- (Ⅵ)
37. 40  
إِلَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ
- Illa AAibada Allahi almukhlaseena (Ⅰ)
- Save the servants of Allah, the purified ones. (Ⅱ)
- Save single-minded slaves of Allah; (Ⅲ)
- Except for God´s sincere servants; (Ⅳ)
- But the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah,- (Ⅵ)
37. 41  
أُولَٰئِكَ لَهُمْ رِزْقٌ مَّعْلُومٌ
- Olaika lahum rizqun maAAloomun (Ⅰ)
- For them is a determined sustenance, (Ⅱ)
- For them there is a known provision, (Ⅲ)
- for them awaits a known provision, (Ⅳ)
- For them is a Sustenance determined, (Ⅵ)
37. 42  
فَوَاكِهُ ۖ وَهُم مُّكْرَمُونَ
- Fawakihu wahum mukramoona (Ⅰ)
- Fruits, and they shall be highly honoured, (Ⅱ)
- Fruits. And they will be honoured (Ⅲ)
- fruits -- and they high-honoured (Ⅳ)
- Fruits (Delights); and they (shall enjoy) honour and dignity, (Ⅵ)
37. 43  
فِي جَنَّاتِ النَّعِيمِ
- Fee jannati alnnaAAeemi (Ⅰ)
- In Gardens of Felicity, (Ⅱ)
- In the Gardens of delight, (Ⅲ)
- in the Gardens of Bliss (Ⅳ)
- In Gardens of Felicity, (Ⅵ)
37. 44  
عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مُّتَقَابِلِينَ
- AAala sururin mutaqabileena (Ⅰ)
- On Thrones (of Dignity), facing each other. (Ⅱ)
- On couches facing one another; (Ⅲ)
- upon couches, set face to face, (Ⅳ)
- Facing each other on Thrones (of Dignity): (Ⅵ)
37. 45  
يُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِكَأْسٍ مِّن مَّعِينٍ
- Yutafu AAalayhim bikasin min maAAeenin (Ⅰ)
- A bowl shall be made to go round them from water running out of clear springs, (Ⅱ)
- A cup from a gushing spring is brought round for them, (Ⅲ)
- a cup from a spring being passed round to them, (Ⅳ)
- Round will be passed to them a Cup from a clear-flowing fountain, (Ⅵ)
37. 46  
بَيْضَاءَ لَذَّةٍ لِّلشَّارِبِينَ
- Baydaa laththatin lilshsharibeena (Ⅰ)
- Crystal-white, delicious to those who drink. (Ⅱ)
- White, delicious to the drinkers, (Ⅲ)
- white, a delight to the drinkers, (Ⅳ)
- Crystal-white, of a taste delicious to those who drink (thereof), (Ⅵ)
37. 47  
لَا فِيهَا غَوْلٌ وَلَا هُمْ عَنْهَا يُنزَفُونَ
- La feeha ghawlun wala hum AAanha yunzafoona (Ⅰ)
- There shall be no distress in it, nor shall they be exhausted therewith. (Ⅱ)
- Wherein there is no headache nor are they made mad thereby. (Ⅲ)
- wherein no sickness is, neither intoxication; (Ⅳ)
- Free from headiness; nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. (Ⅵ)
37. 48  
وَعِندَهُمْ قَاصِرَاتُ الطَّرْفِ عِينٌ
- WaAAindahum qasiratu alttarfi AAeenun (Ⅰ)
- And with them shall be those of modest gaze with large beautiful eyes; (Ⅱ)
- And with them are those of modest gaze, with lovely eyes, (Ⅲ)
- and with them wide-eyed maidens restraining their glances (Ⅳ)
- And besides them will be chaste women, restraining their glances, with big eyes (of wonder and beauty). (Ⅵ)
37. 49  
كَأَنَّهُنَّ بَيْضٌ مَّكْنُونٌ
- Kaannahunna baydun maknoonun (Ⅰ)
- As if they were delicate eggs carefully protected. (Ⅱ)
