79. 0  
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
- Alhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameena (Ⅰ)
- The Beneficent, the Merciful, (Ⅱ)
- In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. (Ⅲ)
- Praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being, (Ⅳ)
- Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds; (Ⅵ)
79. 1  
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ وَالنَّازِعَاتِ غَرْقًا
- WaalnnaziAAati gharqan (Ⅰ)
- I swear by (or call to witness) those who tear out to destruction, (Ⅱ)
- By those who drag forth to destruction, (Ⅲ)
- By those that pluck out vehemently (Ⅳ)
- By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; (Ⅵ)
79. 2  
وَالنَّاشِطَاتِ نَشْطًا
- Waalnnashitati nashtan (Ⅰ)
- And by those rushing. (Ⅱ)
- By the meteors rushing, (Ⅲ)
- and those that draw out violently, (Ⅳ)
- By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); (Ⅵ)
79. 3  
وَالسَّابِحَاتِ سَبْحًا
- Waalssabihati sabhan (Ⅰ)
- And by those who float, (Ⅱ)
- By the lone stars floating, (Ⅲ)
- by those that swim serenely (Ⅳ)
- And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), (Ⅵ)
79. 4  
فَالسَّابِقَاتِ سَبْقًا
- Faalssabiqati sabqan (Ⅰ)
- Then press forward as in a race, (Ⅱ)
- By the angels hastening, (Ⅲ)
- and those that outstrip suddenly (Ⅳ)
- Then press forward as in a race, (Ⅵ)
79. 5  
فَالْمُدَبِّرَاتِ أَمْرًا
- Faalmudabbirati amran (Ⅰ)
- And those who regulate affairs. (Ⅱ)
- And those who govern the event, (Ⅲ)
- by those that direct an affair! (Ⅳ)
- Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), (Ⅵ)
79. 6  
يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ الرَّاجِفَةُ
- Yawma tarjufu alrrajifatu (Ⅰ)
- The day on which the first trump resounds (or that which can quake shall quake), (Ⅱ)
- On the day when the first trump resoundeth. (Ⅲ)
- Upon the day when the first blast shivers (Ⅳ)
- One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, (Ⅵ)
79. 7  
تَتْبَعُهَا الرَّادِفَةُ
- TatbaAAuha alrradifatu (Ⅰ)
- And others follow it. (Ⅱ)
- And the second followeth it, (Ⅲ)
- and the second blast follows it, (Ⅳ)
- Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): (Ⅵ)
79. 8  
قُلُوبٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاجِفَةٌ
- Quloobun yawmaithin wajifatun (Ⅰ)
- Hearts on that day shall palpitate, (Ⅱ)
- On that day hearts beat painfully (Ⅲ)
- hearts upon that day shall be athrob (Ⅳ)
- Hearts that Day will be in agitation; (Ⅵ)
79. 9  
أَبْصَارُهَا خَاشِعَةٌ
- Absaruha khashiAAatun (Ⅰ)
- While eyes are cast down. (Ⅱ)
- While eyes are downcast (Ⅲ)
- and their eyes shall be humbled. (Ⅳ)
- Cast down will be (their owners´) eyes. (Ⅵ)
79. 10  
يَقُولُونَ أَإِنَّا لَمَرْدُودُونَ فِي الْحَافِرَةِ
- Yaqooloona ainna lamardoodoona fee alhafirati (Ⅰ)
- They say, "Shall we indeed be restored to our first state? (Ⅱ)
- (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state (Ⅲ)
- They shall say, ´What, are we being restored as we were before? (Ⅳ)
- They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state? (Ⅵ)
79. 11  
أَإِذَا كُنَّا عِظَامًا نَّخِرَةً
- Aitha kunna AAithaman nakhiratan (Ⅰ)
- "What! When we are rotten bones?" (Ⅱ)
- Even after we are crumbled bones ? (Ⅲ)
- What, when we are bones old and wasted?´ (Ⅳ)
- "What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?" (Ⅵ)
79. 12  
قَالُوا تِلْكَ إِذًا كَرَّةٌ خَاسِرَةٌ
- Qaloo tilka ithan karratun khasiratun (Ⅰ)
- They said, "That then would be a return, causing loss." (Ⅱ)
- They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. (Ⅲ)
- They shall say, ´That then were a losing return!´ (Ⅳ)
- They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" (Ⅵ)
79. 13  
فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ زَجْرَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ
- Fainnama hiya zajratun wahidatun (Ⅰ)
- But it shall be only a single cry, (Ⅱ)
- Surely it will need but one shout, (Ⅲ)
- But it shall be only a single scare, (Ⅳ)
- But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry, (Ⅵ)
79. 14  
فَإِذَا هُم بِالسَّاهِرَةِ
- Faitha hum bialssahirati (Ⅰ)
- When lo! They will be fully awake. (Ⅱ)
- And lo! they will be awakened. (Ⅲ)
- and behold, they are awakened. (Ⅳ)
- When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment). (Ⅵ)
79. 15  
هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَىٰ
- Hal ataka hadeethu moosa (Ⅰ)
- Has not there come to you the story of Moses? (Ⅱ)
- Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses ? (Ⅲ)
- Hast thou received the story of Moses? (Ⅳ)
- Has the story of Moses reached thee? (Ⅵ)
79. 16  
إِذْ نَادَاهُ رَبُّهُ بِالْوَادِ الْمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى
- Ith nadahu rabbuhu bialwadi almuqaddasi tuwan (Ⅰ)
- When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley of Tuwa, (Ⅱ)
- How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, (Ⅲ)
- When his Lord called to him in the holy valley, Towa: (Ⅳ)
- Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- (Ⅵ)
79. 17  
اذْهَبْ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُ طَغَىٰ
- Ithhab ila firAAawna innahu tagha (Ⅰ)
- (Saying,) "Go to Pharaoh, surely he has transgressed beyond bounds." (Ⅱ)
- (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - (Ⅲ)
- ´Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. (Ⅳ)
- "Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds: (Ⅵ)
79. 18  
فَقُلْ هَل لَّكَ إِلَىٰ أَن تَزَكَّىٰ
- Faqul hal laka ila an tazakka (Ⅰ)
- Then say, "Have you a desire to purify yourself? (Ⅱ)
- And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace) ? (Ⅲ)
- And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; (Ⅳ)
- "And say to him, ´Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- (Ⅵ)
79. 19  
وَأَهْدِيَكَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَتَخْشَىٰ
- Waahdiyaka ila rabbika fatakhsha (Ⅰ)
- "And I will guide you to your Lord so that you may fear." (Ⅱ)
- Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). (Ⅲ)
- and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"´ (Ⅳ)
- "´And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?´" (Ⅵ)
79. 20  
فَأَرَاهُ الْآيَةَ الْكُبْرَىٰ
- Faarahu alayata alkubra (Ⅰ)
- So he showed him the Mighty Sign. (Ⅱ)
- And he showed him the tremendous token. (Ⅲ)
- So he showed him the great sign, (Ⅳ)
- Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. (Ⅵ)
79. 21  
فَكَذَّبَ وَعَصَىٰ
- Fakaththaba waAAasa (Ⅰ)
- But he (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed. (Ⅱ)
- But he denied and disobeyed, (Ⅲ)
- but he cried lies, and rebelled, (Ⅳ)
- But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); (Ⅵ)
79. 22  
ثُمَّ أَدْبَرَ يَسْعَىٰ
- Thumma adbara yasAAa (Ⅰ)
- Then turned he away (from Allah) in haste. (Ⅱ)
- Then turned he away in haste, (Ⅲ)
- then he turned away hastily, (Ⅳ)
- Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). (Ⅵ)
79. 23  
فَحَشَرَ فَنَادَىٰ
- Fahashara fanada (Ⅰ)
- Then he gathered (men) and made a proclamation. (Ⅱ)
- Then gathered he and summoned (Ⅲ)
- then he mustered (Ⅳ)
- Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, (Ⅵ)
79. 24  
فَقَالَ أَنَا رَبُّكُمُ الْأَعْلَىٰ
- Faqala ana rabbukumu alaAAla (Ⅰ)
- Saying, "I am your Lord, the most high." (Ⅱ)
- And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." (Ⅲ)
- and proclaimed, and he said, ´I am your Lord, the Most High!´ (Ⅳ)
- Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". (Ⅵ)
79. 25  
فَأَخَذَهُ اللَّهُ نَكَالَ الْآخِرَةِ وَالْأُولَىٰ
- Faakhathahu Allahu nakala alakhirati waaloola (Ⅰ)
- So Allah seized him with the punishment of the Hereafter and the former life. (Ⅱ)
- So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. (Ⅲ)
- So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. (Ⅳ)
- But Allah did punish him, (and made an) example of him, - in the Hereafter, as in this life. (Ⅵ)
79. 26  
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَعِبْرَةً لِّمَن يَخْشَىٰ
- Inna fee thalika laAAibratan liman yakhsha (Ⅰ)
- Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. (Ⅱ)
- Lo! herein is indeed a lesson for him who feareth. (Ⅲ)
- Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! (Ⅳ)
- Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah). (Ⅵ)
79. 27  
أَأَنتُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَمِ السَّمَاءُ ۚ بَنَاهَا
- Aantum ashaddu khalqan ami alssamao banaha (Ⅰ)
- Are you the harder to create or the heaven? He created it. (Ⅱ)
- Are ye the harder to create, or is the heaven that He built ? (Ⅲ)
- What, are you stronger in constitution or the heaven He built? (Ⅳ)
- What! Are ye the more difficult to create or the heaven (above)? (Allah) hath constructed it: (Ⅵ)
79. 28  
رَفَعَ سَمْكَهَا فَسَوَّاهَا
- RafaAAa samkaha fasawwaha (Ⅰ)
- He raised high its height, and gave it order and perfection. (Ⅱ)
- He raised the height thereof and ordered it; (Ⅲ)
- He lifted up its vault, and levelled it, (Ⅳ)
- On high hath He raised its canopy, and He hath given it order and perfection. (Ⅵ)
79. 29  
وَأَغْطَشَ لَيْلَهَا وَأَخْرَجَ ضُحَاهَا
- Waaghtasha laylaha waakhraja duhaha (Ⅰ)
- And He made dark its night and its splendour does He bring out with light. (Ⅱ)
- And He made dark the night thereof, and He brought forth the morn thereof. (Ⅲ)
- and darkened its night, and brought forth its forenoon; (Ⅳ)
- Its night doth He endow with darkness, and its splendour doth He bring out (with light). (Ⅵ)
79. 30  
وَالْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَاهَا
- Waalarda baAAda thalika dahaha (Ⅰ)
- And after that He expanded (spread) the earth. (Ⅱ)
- And after that He spread the earth, (Ⅲ)
- and the earth-after that He spread it out, (Ⅳ)
- And the earth, moreover, hath He extended (to a wide expanse); (Ⅵ)
79. 31  
أَخْرَجَ مِنْهَا مَاءَهَا وَمَرْعَاهَا
- Akhraja minha maaha wamarAAaha (Ⅰ)
- He brought forth from it its water and its pasturage. (Ⅱ)
- And produced therefrom the water thereof and the pasture thereof, (Ⅲ)
- therefrom brought forth its waters and its pastures, (Ⅳ)
- He draweth out therefrom its moisture and its pasture; (Ⅵ)
79. 32  
وَالْجِبَالَ أَرْسَاهَا
- Waaljibala arsaha (Ⅰ)
- And the mountains, He made them firm, (Ⅱ)
- And He made fast the hills, (Ⅲ)
- and the mountains He set firm, (Ⅳ)
- And the mountains hath He firmly fixed;- (Ⅵ)
79. 33  
مَتَاعًا لَّكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَامِكُمْ
- MataAAan lakum walianAAamikum (Ⅰ)
- A provision for you and for your cattle. (Ⅱ)
- A provision for you and for your cattle. (Ⅲ)
- an enjoyment for you and your flocks. (Ⅳ)
- For use and convenience to you and your cattle. (Ⅵ)
79. 34  
فَإِذَا جَاءَتِ الطَّامَّةُ الْكُبْرَىٰ
- Faitha jaati alttammatu alkubra (Ⅰ)
- But when the great overwhelming calamity comes; (Ⅱ)
- But when the great disaster cometh, (Ⅲ)
- Then, when the Great Catastrophe comes (Ⅳ)
- Therefore, when there comes the great, overwhelming (Event),- (Ⅵ)
79. 35  
يَوْمَ يَتَذَكَّرُ الْإِنسَانُ مَا سَعَىٰ
- Yawma yatathakkaru alinsanu ma saAAa (Ⅰ)
- The Day on which man shall recollect all he strove after, (Ⅱ)
- The day when man will call to mind his (whole) endeavour, (Ⅲ)
- upon the day when man shall remember what he has striven, (Ⅳ)
- The Day when man shall remember (all) that he strove for, (Ⅵ)
79. 36  
وَبُرِّزَتِ الْجَحِيمُ لِمَن يَرَىٰ
- Waburrizati aljaheemu liman yara (Ⅰ)
- And Hell shall be made manifest to him who sees (Ⅱ)
- And hell will stand forth visible to him who seeth, (Ⅲ)
- and Hell is advanced for whoever sees, (Ⅳ)
- And Hell-Fire shall be placed in full view for (all) to see,- (Ⅵ)
79. 37  
فَأَمَّا مَن طَغَىٰ
- Faamma man tagha (Ⅰ)
- Then for him who has transgressed all bounds, (Ⅱ)
- Then, as for him who rebelled (Ⅲ)
- then as for him who was insolent (Ⅳ)
- Then, for such as had transgressed all bounds, (Ⅵ)
79. 38  
وَآثَرَ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا
- Waathara alhayata alddunya (Ⅰ)
- And prefers the life of this world, (Ⅱ)
- And chose the life of the world, (Ⅲ)
- and preferred the present life, (Ⅳ)
- And had preferred the life of this world, (Ⅵ)
79. 39  
فَإِنَّ الْجَحِيمَ هِيَ الْمَأْوَىٰ
- Fainna aljaheema hiya almawa (Ⅰ)
- Surely, Hell will be his abode. (Ⅱ)
- Lo! hell will be his home. (Ⅲ)
- surely Hell shall be the refuge. (Ⅳ)
- The Abode will be Hell-Fire; (Ⅵ)
79. 40  
وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِ وَنَهَى النَّفْسَ عَنِ الْهَوَىٰ
- Waama man khafa maqama rabbihi wanaha alnnafsa AAani alhawa (Ⅰ)
- And as for him who had feared standing in the presence of his Lord and restrains his soul from lust (or low desires), (Ⅱ)
- But as for him who feared to stand before his Lord and restrained his soul from lust, (Ⅲ)
- But as for him who feared the Station of his Lord and forbade the soul its caprice, (Ⅳ)
- And for such as had entertained the fear of standing before their Lord´s (tribunal) and had restrained (their) soul from lower desires, (Ⅵ)
79. 41  
فَإِنَّ الْجَنَّةَ هِيَ الْمَأْوَىٰ
- Fainna aljannata hiya almawa (Ⅰ)
- Then surely the Garden, that is his abode. (Ⅱ)
- Lo! the Garden will be his home. (Ⅲ)
- surely Paradise shall be the refuge. (Ⅳ)
- Their abode will be the Garden. (Ⅵ)
79. 42  
يَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ السَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرْسَاهَا
- Yasaloonaka AAani alssaAAati ayyana mursaha (Ⅰ)
- They ask you (Muhammad) about the Hour, when it will come. (Ⅱ)
- They ask thee of the Hour: when will it come to port ? (Ⅲ)
- They will question thee concerning the Hour, when it shall berth. (Ⅳ)
- They ask thee about the Hour,-´When will be its appointed time? (Ⅵ)
79. 43  
فِيمَ أَنتَ مِن ذِكْرَاهَا
- Feema anta min thikraha (Ⅰ)
- "What," ask they, "have you to say about it?" (Ⅱ)
- Why (ask they) ? What hast thou to tell thereof ? (Ⅲ)
- What art thou about, to mention it? (Ⅳ)
- Wherein art thou (concerned) with the declaration thereof? (Ⅵ)
79. 44  
إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ مُنتَهَاهَا
- Ila rabbika muntahaha (Ⅰ)
- To your Lord belongs the knowledge of it. (Ⅱ)
- Unto thy Lord belongeth (knowledge of) the term thereof. (Ⅲ)
- Unto thy Lord is the final end of it. (Ⅳ)
- With thy Lord in the Limit fixed therefor. (Ⅵ)
79. 45  
إِنَّمَا أَنتَ مُنذِرُ مَن يَخْشَاهَا
- Innama anta munthiru man yakhshaha (Ⅰ)
- you are only a Warner to him who would fear it. (Ⅱ)
- Thou art but a warner unto him who feareth it. (Ⅲ)
- Thou art only the warner of him who fears it. (Ⅳ)
- Thou art but a Warner for such as fear it. (Ⅵ)
79. 46  
كَأَنَّهُمْ يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَهَا لَمْ يَلْبَثُوا إِلَّا عَشِيَّةً أَوْ ضُحَاهَا
- Kaannahum yawma yarawnaha lam yalbathoo illa AAashiyyatan aw duhaha (Ⅰ)
- On the day that they behold it, it will be as though they had not tarried but an evening or the morning. (Ⅱ)
- On the day when they behold it, it will be as if they had but tarried for an evening or the morn thereof. (Ⅲ)
- It shall be as if; on the day they see it, they have but tarried for an evening, or its forenoon. (Ⅳ)
- The Day they see it, (It will be) as if they had tarried but a single evening, or (at most till) the following morn! (Ⅵ)
