31. 1

And he heard the words of Laban's sons, saying, Jacob hath taken away all that was our father's; and of that which was our father's hath he gotten all this glory.

- Jacob entendit les propos des fils de Laban, qui disaient: Jacob a pris tout ce qui était à notre père, et c'est avec le bien de notre père qu'il s'est acquis toute cette richesse. (Ⅱ)

- ἤκουσεν δὲ Ιακωβ τὰ ῥήματα τω̃ν υἱω̃ν Λαβαν λεγόντων εἴληφεν Ιακωβ πάντα τὰ του̃ πατρὸς ἡμω̃ν καὶ ἐκ τω̃ν του̃ πατρὸς ἡμω̃ν πεποίηκεν πα̃σαν τὴν δόξαν ταύτην (Ⅲ)

- Postquam autem audivit verba filiorum Laban dicentium : Tulit Jacob omnia quæ fuerunt patris nostri, et de illius facultate ditatus, factus est inclytus : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 1 ׃31 וישמע את דברי בני לבן לאמר לקח יעקב את כל אשר לאבינו ומאשר לאבינו עשה את כל הכבד הזה ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 2

And Jacob beheld the countenance of Laban, and, behold, it was not toward him as before.

- Jacob remarqua aussi le visage de Laban; et voici, il n'était plus envers lui comme auparavant. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃δεν Ιακωβ τὸ πρόσωπον του̃ Λαβαν καὶ ἰδοὺ οὐκ ἠ̃ν πρὸς αὐτὸν ὡς ἐχθὲς καὶ τρίτην ἡμέραν (Ⅲ)

- animadvertit quoque faciem Laban, quod non esset erga se sicut heri et nudiustertius, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 2 ׃31 וירא יעקב את פני לבן והנה איננו עמו כתמול שלשום ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 3

And the LORD said unto Jacob, Return unto the land of thy fathers, and to thy kindred; and I will be with thee.

- Alors l'Éternel dit à Jacob: Retourne au pays de tes pères et dans ton lieu de naissance, et je serai avec toi. (Ⅱ)

- εἰ̃πεν δὲ κύριος πρὸς Ιακωβ ἀποστρέφου εἰς τὴν γη̃ν του̃ πατρός σου καὶ εἰς τὴν γενεάν σου καὶ ἔσομαι μετὰ σου̃ (Ⅲ)

- maxime dicente sibi Domino : Revertere in terram patrum tuorum, et ad generationem tuam, eroque tecum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 3 ׃31 ויאמר יהוה אל יעקב שוב אל ארץ אבותיך ולמולדתך ואהיה עמך ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 4

And Jacob sent and called Rachel and Leah to the field unto his flock,

- Jacob fit appeler Rachel et Léa, qui étaient aux champs vers son troupeau. (Ⅱ)

- ἀποστείλας δὲ Ιακωβ ἐκάλεσεν Ραχηλ καὶ Λειαν εἰς τὸ πεδίον οὑ̃ τὰ ποίμνια (Ⅲ)

- Misit, et vocavit Rachel et Liam in agrum, ubi pascebat greges, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 4 ׃31 וישלח יעקב ויקרא לרחל וללאה השדה אל צאנו ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 5

And said unto them, I see your father's countenance, that it is not toward me as before; but the God of my father hath been with me.

- Il leur dit: Je vois, au visage de votre père, qu'il n'est plus envers moi comme auparavant; mais le Dieu de mon père a été avec moi. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν αὐται̃ς ὁρω̃ ἐγὼ τὸ πρόσωπον του̃ πατρὸς ὑμω̃ν ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν πρὸς ἐμου̃ ὡς ἐχθὲς καὶ τρίτην ἡμέραν ὁ δὲ θεὸς του̃ πατρός μου ἠ̃ν μετ' ἐμου̃ (Ⅲ)

- dixitque eis : Video faciem patris vestri quod non sit erga me sicut heri et nudiustertius : Deus autem patris mei fuit mecum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 5 ׃31 ויאמר להן ראה אנכי את פני אביכן כי איננו אלי כתמל שלשם ואלהי אבי היה עמדי ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 6

And ye know that with all my power I have served your father.

- Vous savez vous-mêmes que j'ai servi votre père de tout mon pouvoir. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ αὐταὶ δὲ οἴδατε ὅτι ἐν πάση̨ τη̨̃ ἰσχύι μου δεδούλευκα τω̨̃ πατρὶ ὑμω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Et ipsæ nostis quod totis viribus meis servierim patri vestro. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 6 ׃31 ואתנה ידעתן כי בכל כחי עבדתי את אביכן ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 7

And your father hath deceived me, and changed my wages ten times; but God suffered him not to hurt me.

- Et votre père s'est joué de moi, et a changé dix fois mon salaire; mais Dieu ne lui a pas permis de me faire du mal. (Ⅱ)

- ὁ δὲ πατὴρ ὑμω̃ν παρεκρούσατό με καὶ ἤλλαξεν τὸν μισθόν μου τω̃ν δέκα ἀμνω̃ν καὶ οὐκ ἔδωκεν αὐτω̨̃ ὁ θεὸς κακοποιη̃σαί με (Ⅲ)

- Sed et pater vester circumvenit me et mutavit mercedem meam decem vicibus : et tamen non dimisit eum Deus ut noceret mihi. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 7 ׃31 ואביכן התל בי והחלף את משכרתי עשרת מנים ולא נתנו אלהים להרע עמדי ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 8

If he said thus, The speckled shall be thy wages; then all the cattle bare speckled: and if he said thus, The ring-streaked shall be thy hire; then bare all the cattle ring-streaked.

- Quand il disait: Les tachetés seront ton salaire, toutes les brebis faisaient des petits tachetés. Et quand il disait: Les rayés seront ton salaire, toutes les brebis faisaient des petits rayés. (Ⅱ)

- ἐὰν οὕτως εἴπη̨ τὰ ποικίλα ἔσται σου μισθός καὶ τέξεται πάντα τὰ πρόβατα ποικίλα ἐὰν δὲ εἴπη̨ τὰ λευκὰ ἔσται σου μισθός καὶ τέξεται πάντα τὰ πρόβατα λευκά (Ⅲ)

- Si quando dixit : Variæ erunt mercedes tuæ : pariebant omnes oves varios fœtus ; quando vero e contrario, ait : Alba quæque accipies pro mercede : omnes greges alba pepererunt. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 8 ׃31 אם כה יאמר נקדים יהיה שכרך וילדו כל הצאן נקדים ואם כה יאמר עקדים יהיה שכרך וילדו כל הצאן עקדים ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 9

Thus God hath taken away the cattle of your father, and given them to me.

- Dieu a pris à votre père son troupeau, et me l'a donné. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀφείλατο ὁ θεὸς πάντα τὰ κτήνη του̃ πατρὸς ὑμω̃ν καὶ ἔδωκέν μοι αὐτά (Ⅲ)

- Tulitque Deus substantiam patris vestri, et dedit mihi. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 9 ׃31 ויצל אלהים את מקנה אביכם ויתן לי ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 10

And it came to pass at the time that the cattle conceived, that I lifted up mine eyes, and saw in a dream, and, behold, the rams which leaped upon the cattle were ring-streaked, speckled, and grizzled.

- Au temps où les brebis entraient en chaleur, je levai les yeux, et je vis en songe que les boucs qui couvraient les brebis étaient rayés, tachetés et marquetés. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐγένετο ἡνίκα ἐνεκίσσων τὰ πρόβατα καὶ εἰ̃δον τοι̃ς ὀφθαλμοι̃ς αὐτὰ ἐν τω̨̃ ὕπνω̨ καὶ ἰδοὺ οἱ τράγοι καὶ οἱ κριοὶ ἀναβαίνοντες ἠ̃σαν ἐπὶ τὰ πρόβατα καὶ τὰς αἰ̃γας διάλευκοι καὶ ποικίλοι καὶ σποδοειδει̃ς ῥαντοί (Ⅲ)

- Postquam enim conceptus ovium tempus advenerat, levavi oculos meos, et vidi in somnis ascendentes mares super feminas, varios et maculosos, et diversorum colorum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 10 ׃31 ויהי בעת יחם הצאן ואשא עיני וארא בחלום והנה העתדים העלים על הצאן עקדים נקדים וברדים ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 11

And the angel of God spake unto me in a dream, saying, Jacob: And I said, Here am I.

- Et l'ange de Dieu me dit en songe: Jacob! Je répondis: Me voici! (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πέν μοι ὁ ἄγγελος του̃ θεου̃ καθ' ὕπνον Ιακωβ ἐγὼ δὲ εἰ̃πα τί ἐστιν (Ⅲ)

- Dixitque angelus Dei ad me in somnis : Jacob ? Et ego respondi : Adsum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 11 ׃31 ויאמר אלי מלאך האלהים בחלום יעקב ואמר הנני ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 12

And he said, Lift up now thine eyes, and see, all the rams which leap upon the cattle are ring-streaked, speckled, and grizzled: for I have seen all that Laban doeth unto thee.

- Il dit: Lève les yeux, et regarde: tous les boucs qui couvrent les brebis sont rayés, tachetés et marquetés; car j'ai vu tout ce que te fait Laban. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἀνάβλεψον τοι̃ς ὀφθαλμοι̃ς σου καὶ ἰδὲ τοὺς τράγους καὶ τοὺς κριοὺς ἀναβαίνοντας ἐπὶ τὰ πρόβατα καὶ τὰς αἰ̃γας διαλεύκους καὶ ποικίλους καὶ σποδοειδει̃ς ῥαντούς ἑώρακα γὰρ ὅσα σοι Λαβαν ποιει̃ (Ⅲ)

- Qui ait : Leva oculos tuos, et vide universos masculos ascendentes super feminas, varios, maculosos, atque respersos. Vidi enim omnia quæ fecit tibi Laban. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 12 ׃31 ויאמר שא נא עיניך וראה כל העתדים העלים על הצאן עקדים נקדים וברדים כי ראיתי את כל אשר לבן עשה לך ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 13

I am the God of Bethel, where thou anointedst the pillar, and where thou vowedst a vow unto me: now arise, get thee out from this land, and return unto the land of thy kindred.

- Je suis le Dieu de Béthel, où tu as oint un monument, où tu m'as fait un voeu. Maintenant, lève-toi, sors de ce pays, et retourne au pays de ta naissance. (Ⅱ)

- ἐγώ εἰμι ὁ θεὸς ὁ ὀφθείς σοι ἐν τόπω̨ θεου̃ οὑ̃ ἤλειψάς μοι ἐκει̃ στήλην καὶ ηὔξω μοι ἐκει̃ εὐχήν νυ̃ν οὐ̃ν ἀνάστηθι καὶ ἔξελθε ἐκ τη̃ς γη̃ς ταύτης καὶ ἄπελθε εἰς τὴν γη̃ν τη̃ς γενέσεώς σου καὶ ἔσομαι μετὰ σου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Ego sum Deus Bethel, ubi unxisti lapidem, et votum vovisti mihi. Nunc ergo surge, et egredere de terra hac, revertens in terram nativitatis tuæ. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 13 ׃31 אנכי האל בית אל אשר משחת שם מצבה אשר נדרת לי שם נדר עתה קום צא מן הארץ הזאת ושוב אל ארץ מולדתך ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 14

And Rachel and Leah answered and said unto him, Is there yet any portion or inheritance for us in our father's house?

- Rachel et Léa répondirent, et lui dirent: Avons-nous encore une part et un héritage dans la maison de notre père? (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀποκριθει̃σα Ραχηλ καὶ Λεια εἰ̃παν αὐτω̨̃ μὴ ἔστιν ἡμι̃ν ἔτι μερὶς ἢ κληρονομία ἐν τω̨̃ οἴκω̨ του̃ πατρὸς ἡμω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Responderuntque Rachel et Lia : Numquid habemus residui quidquam in facultatibus et hæreditate domus patris nostri ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 14 ׃31 ותען רחל ולאה ותאמרנה לו העוד לנו חלק ונחלה בבית אבינו ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 15

Are we not counted of him strangers? for he hath sold us, and hath quite devoured also our money.

- Ne sommes-nous pas regardées par lui comme des étrangères, puisqu'il nous a vendues, et qu'il a mangé notre argent? (Ⅱ)

- οὐχ ὡς αἱ ἀλλότριαι λελογίσμεθα αὐτω̨̃ πέπρακεν γὰρ ἡμα̃ς καὶ κατέφαγεν καταβρώσει τὸ ἀργύριον ἡμω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- nonne quasi alienas reputavit nos, et vendidit, comeditque pretium nostrum ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 15 ׃31 הלוא נכריות נחשבנו לו כי מכרנו ויאכל גם אכול את כספנו ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 16

For all the riches which God hath taken from our father, that is ours, and our children's: now then, whatsoever God hath said unto thee, do.

- Toute la richesse que Dieu a ôtée à notre père appartient à nous et à nos enfants. Fais maintenant tout ce que Dieu t'a dit. (Ⅱ)

- πάντα τὸν πλου̃τον καὶ τὴν δόξαν ἣν ἀφείλατο ὁ θεὸς του̃ πατρὸς ἡμω̃ν ἡμι̃ν ἔσται καὶ τοι̃ς τέκνοις ἡμω̃ν νυ̃ν οὐ̃ν ὅσα εἴρηκέν σοι ὁ θεός ποίει (Ⅲ)

- Sed Deus tulit opes patris nostri, et eas tradidit nobis, ac filiis nostris : unde omnia quæ præcepit tibi Deus, fac. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 16 ׃31 כי כל העשר אשר הציל אלהים מאבינו לנו הוא ולבנינו ועתה כל אשר אמר אלהים אליך עשה ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 17

Then Jacob rose up, and set his sons and his wives upon camels;

- Jacob se leva, et il fit monter ses enfants et ses femmes sur les chameaux. (Ⅱ)

- ἀναστὰς δὲ Ιακωβ ἔλαβεν τὰς γυναι̃κας αὐτου̃ καὶ τὰ παιδία αὐτου̃ ἐπὶ τὰς καμήλους (Ⅲ)

- Surrexit itaque Jacob, et impositis liberis ac conjugibus suis super camelos, abiit. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 17 ׃31 ויקם יעקב וישא את בניו ואת נשיו על הגמלים ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 18

And he carried away all his cattle, and all his goods which he had gotten, the cattle of his getting, which he had gotten in Padanaram, for to go to Isaac his father in the land of Canaan.

- Il emmena tout son troupeau et tous les biens qu'il possédait, le troupeau qui lui appartenait, qu'il avait acquis à Paddan Aram; et il s'en alla vers Isaac, son père, au pays de Canaan. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀπήγαγεν πάντα τὰ ὑπάρχοντα αὐτου̃ καὶ πα̃σαν τὴν ἀποσκευὴν αὐτου̃ ἣν περιεποιήσατο ἐν τη̨̃ Μεσοποταμία̨ καὶ πάντα τὰ αὐτου̃ ἀπελθει̃ν πρὸς Ισαακ τὸν πατέρα αὐτου̃ εἰς γη̃ν Χανααν (Ⅲ)

- Tulitque omnem substantiam suam, et greges, et quidquid in Mesopotamia acquisierat, pergens ad Isaac patrem suum in terram Chanaan.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 18 ׃31 וינהג את כל מקנהו ואת כל רכשו אשר רכש מקנה קנינו אשר רכש בפדן ארם לבוא אל יצחק אביו ארצה כנען ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 19

And Laban went to shear his sheep: and Rachel had stolen the images that were her father's.

- Tandis que Laban était allé tondre ses brebis, Rachel déroba les théraphim de son père; (Ⅱ)

- Λαβαν δὲ ὤ̨χετο κει̃ραι τὰ πρόβατα αὐτου̃ ἔκλεψεν δὲ Ραχηλ τὰ εἴδωλα του̃ πατρὸς αὐτη̃ς (Ⅲ)

- Eo tempore ierat Laban ad tondendas oves, et Rachel furata est idola patris sui. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 19 ׃31 ולבן הלך לגזז את צאנו ותגנב רחל את התרפים אשר לאביה ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 20

And Jacob stole away unawares to Laban the Syrian, in that he told him not that he fled.

- et Jacob trompa Laban, l'Araméen, en ne l'avertissant pas de sa fuite. (Ⅱ)

- ἔκρυψεν δὲ Ιακωβ Λαβαν τὸν Σύρον του̃ μὴ ἀναγγει̃λαι αὐτω̨̃ ὅτι ἀποδιδράσκει (Ⅲ)

- Noluitque Jacob confiteri socero suo quod fugeret. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 20 ׃31 ויגנב יעקב את לב לבן הארמי על בלי הגיד לו כי ברח הוא ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 21

So he fled with all that he had; and he rose up, and passed over the river, and set his face toward the mount Gilead.

- Il s'enfuit, avec tout ce qui lui appartenait; il se leva, traversa le fleuve, et se dirigea vers la montagne de Galaad. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀπέδρα αὐτὸς καὶ πάντα τὰ αὐτου̃ καὶ διέβη τὸν ποταμὸν καὶ ὥρμησεν εἰς τὸ ὄρος Γαλααδ (Ⅲ)

- Cumque abiisset tam ipse quam omnia quæ juris sui erant, et amne transmisso pergeret contra montem Galaad, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 21 ׃31 ויברח הוא וכל אשר לו ויקם ויעבר את הנהר וישם את פניו הר הגלעד ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 22

And it was told Laban on the third day that Jacob was fled.

- Le troisième jour, on annonça à Laban que Jacob s'était enfui. (Ⅱ)

- ἀνηγγέλη δὲ Λαβαν τω̨̃ Σύρω̨ τη̨̃ τρίτη̨ ἡμέρα̨ ὅτι ἀπέδρα Ιακωβ (Ⅲ)

- nuntiatum est Laban die tertio quod fugeret Jacob. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 22 ׃31 ויגד ללבן ביום השלישי כי ברח יעקב ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 23

And he took his brethren with him, and pursued after him seven days' journey; and they overtook him in the mount Gilead.

- Il prit avec lui ses frères, le poursuivit sept journées de marche, et l'atteignit à la montagne de Galaad. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ παραλαβὼν πάντας τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτου̃ μεθ' ἑαυτου̃ ἐδίωξεν ὀπίσω αὐτου̃ ὁδὸν ἡμερω̃ν ἑπτὰ καὶ κατέλαβεν αὐτὸν ἐν τω̨̃ ὄρει τω̨̃ Γαλααδ (Ⅲ)

- Qui, assumptis fratribus suis, persecutus est eum diebus septem : et comprehendit eum in monte Galaad. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 23 ׃31 ויקח את אחיו עמו וירדף אחריו דרך שבעת ימים וידבק אתו בהר הגלעד ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 24

And God came to Laban the Syrian in a dream by night, and said unto him, Take heed that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad.

- Mais Dieu apparut la nuit en songe à Laban, l'Araméen, et lui dit: Garde-toi de parler à Jacob ni en bien ni en mal! (Ⅱ)

- ἠ̃λθεν δὲ ὁ θεὸς πρὸς Λαβαν τὸν Σύρον καθ' ὕπνον τὴν νύκτα καὶ εἰ̃πεν αὐτω̨̃ φύλαξαι σεαυτόν μήποτε λαλήση̨ς μετὰ Ιακωβ πονηρά (Ⅲ)

- Viditque in somnis dicentem sibi Deum : Cave ne quidquam aspere loquaris contra Jacob. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 24 ׃31 ויבא אלהים אל לבן הארמי בחלם הלילה ויאמר לו השמר לך פן תדבר עם יעקב מטוב עד רע ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 25

Then Laban overtook Jacob. Now Jacob had pitched his tent in the mount: and Laban with his brethren pitched in the mount of Gilead.

- Laban atteignit donc Jacob. Jacob avait dressé sa tente sur la montagne; Laban dressa aussi la sienne, avec ses frères, sur la montagne de Galaad. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ κατέλαβεν Λαβαν τὸν Ιακωβ Ιακωβ δὲ ἔπηξεν τὴν σκηνὴν αὐτου̃ ἐν τω̨̃ ὄρει Λαβαν δὲ ἔστησεν τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτου̃ ἐν τω̨̃ ὄρει Γαλααδ (Ⅲ)

- Jamque Jacob extenderat in monte tabernaculum : cumque ille consecutus fuisset eum cum fratribus suis, in eodem monte Galaad fixit tentorium. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 25 ׃31 וישג לבן את יעקב ויעקב תקע את אהלו בהר ולבן תקע את אחיו בהר הגלעד ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 26

And Laban said to Jacob, What hast thou done, that thou hast stolen away unawares to me, and carried away my daughters, as captives taken with the sword?

- Alors Laban dit à Jacob: Qu'as-tu fait? Pourquoi m'as-tu trompé, et emmènes-tu mes filles comme des captives par l'épée? (Ⅱ)

- εἰ̃πεν δὲ Λαβαν τω̨̃ Ιακωβ τί ἐποίησας ἵνα τί κρυφη̨̃ ἀπέδρας καὶ ἐκλοποφόρησάς με καὶ ἀπήγαγες τὰς θυγατέρας μου ὡς αἰχμαλώτιδας μαχαίρα̨ (Ⅲ)

- Et dixit ad Jacob : Quare ita egisti, ut clam me abigeres filias meas quasi captivas gladio ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 26 ׃31 ויאמר לבן ליעקב מה עשית ותגנב את לבבי ותנהג את בנתי כשביות חרב ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 27

Wherefore didst thou flee away secretly, and steal away from me; and didst not tell me, that I might have sent thee away with mirth, and with songs, with tabret, and with harp?

- Pourquoi as-tu pris la fuite en cachette, m'as-tu trompé, et ne m'as-tu point averti? Je t'aurais laissé partir au milieu des réjouissances et des chants, au son du tambourin et de la harpe. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ ἀνήγγειλάς μοι ἐξαπέστειλα ἄν σε μετ' εὐφροσύνης καὶ μετὰ μουσικω̃ν τυμπάνων καὶ κιθάρας (Ⅲ)

- cur ignorante me fugere voluisti, nec indicare mihi, ut prosequerer te cum gaudio, et canticis, et tympanis, et citharis ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 27 ׃31 למה נחבאת לברח ותגנב אתי ולא הגדת לי ואשלחך בשמחה ובשרים בתף ובכנור ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 28

And hast not suffered me to kiss my sons and my daughters? thou hast now done foolishly in so doing.

- Non es passus ut oscularer filios meos et filias : stulte operatus es : et nunc quidem (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 28 ׃31 ולא נטשתני לנשק לבני ולבנתי עתה הסכלת עשו ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 29

It is in the power of my hand to do you hurt: but the God of your father spake unto me yesternight, saying, Take thou heed that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad.

- Ma main est assez forte pour vous faire du mal; mais le Dieu de votre père m'a dit hier: Garde-toi de parler à Jacob ni en bien ni en mal! (Ⅱ)

- καὶ νυ̃ν ἰσχύει ἡ χείρ μου κακοποιη̃σαί σε ὁ δὲ θεὸς του̃ πατρός σου ἐχθὲς εἰ̃πεν πρός με λέγων φύλαξαι σεαυτόν μήποτε λαλήση̨ς μετὰ Ιακωβ πονηρά (Ⅲ)

- valet manus mea reddere tibi malum : sed Deus patris vestri heri dixit mihi : Cave ne loquaris contra Jacob quidquam durius. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 29 ׃31 יש לאל ידי לעשות עמכם רע ואלהי אביכם אמש אמר אלי לאמר השמר לך מדבר עם יעקב מטוב עד רע ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 30

And now, though thou wouldest needs be gone, because thou sore longedst after thy father's house, yet wherefore hast thou stolen my gods?

- Maintenant que tu es parti, parce que tu languissais après la maison de ton père, pourquoi as-tu dérobé mes dieux? (Ⅱ)

- νυ̃ν οὐ̃ν πεπόρευσαι ἐπιθυμία̨ γὰρ ἐπεθύμησας ἀπελθει̃ν εἰς τὸν οἰ̃κον του̃ πατρός σου ἵνα τί ἔκλεψας τοὺς θεούς μου (Ⅲ)

- Esto, ad tuos ire cupiebas, et desiderio erat tibi domus patris tui : cur furatus es deos meos ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 30 ׃31 ועתה הלך הלכת כי נכסף נכספתה לבית אביך למה גנבת את אלהי ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 31

And Jacob answered and said to Laban, Because I was afraid: for I said, Peradventure thou wouldest take by force thy daughters from me.

- Jacob répondit, et dit à Laban: J'avais de la crainte à la pensée que tu m'enlèverais peut-être tes filles. (Ⅱ)

- ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ Ιακωβ εἰ̃πεν τω̨̃ Λαβαν εἰ̃πα γάρ μήποτε ἀφέλη̨ς τὰς θυγατέρας σου ἀπ' ἐμου̃ καὶ πάντα τὰ ἐμά (Ⅲ)

- Respondit Jacob : Quod inscio te profectus sum, timui ne violenter auferres filias tuas. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 31 ׃31 ויען יעקב ויאמר ללבן כי יראתי כי אמרתי פן תגזל את בנותיך מעמי ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 32

With whomsoever thou findest thy gods, let him not live: before our brethren discern thou what is thine with me, and take it to thee. For Jacob knew not that Rachel had stolen them.

- Mais périsse celui auprès duquel tu trouveras tes dieux! En présence de nos frères, examine ce qui t'appartient chez moi, et prends-le. Jacob ne savait pas que Rachel les eût dérobés. (Ⅱ)

- ἐπίγνωθι τί ἐστιν τω̃ν σω̃ν παρ' ἐμοί καὶ λαβέ καὶ οὐκ ἐπέγνω παρ' αὐτω̨̃ οὐθέν καὶ εἰ̃πεν αὐτω̨̃ Ιακωβ παρ' ὡ̨̃ ἐὰν εὕρη̨ς τοὺς θεούς σου οὐ ζήσεται ἐναντίον τω̃ν ἀδελφω̃ν ἡμω̃ν οὐκ ἤ̨δει δὲ Ιακωβ ὅτι Ραχηλ ἡ γυνὴ αὐτου̃ ἔκλεψεν αὐτούς (Ⅲ)

- Quod autem furti me arguis : apud quemcumque inveneris deos tuos, necetur coram fratribus nostris : scrutare, quidquid tuorum apud me inveneris, et aufer. Hæc dicens, ignorabat quod Rachel furata esset idola. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 32 ׃31 עם אשר תמצא את אלהיך לא יחיה נגד אחינו הכר לך מה עמדי וקח לך ולא ידע יעקב כי רחל גנבתם ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 33

And Laban went into Jacob's tent, and into Leah's tent, and into the two maidservants' tents; but he found them not. Then went he out of Leah's tent, and entered into Rachel's tent.

- Laban entra dans la tente de Jacob, dans la tente de Léa, dans la tente des deux servantes, et il ne trouva rien. Il sortit de la tente de Léa, et entra dans la tente de Rachel. (Ⅱ)

- εἰσελθὼν δὲ Λαβαν ἠρεύνησεν εἰς τὸν οἰ̃κον Λειας καὶ οὐχ εὑ̃ρεν καὶ ἐξελθὼν ἐκ του̃ οἴκου Λειας ἠρεύνησεν τὸν οἰ̃κον Ιακωβ καὶ ἐν τω̨̃ οἴκω̨ τω̃ν δύο παιδισκω̃ν καὶ οὐχ εὑ̃ρεν εἰση̃λθεν δὲ καὶ εἰς τὸν οἰ̃κον Ραχηλ (Ⅲ)

- Ingressus itaque Laban tabernaculum Jacob, et Liæ, et utriusque famulæ, non invenit. Cumque intrasset tentorium Rachelis, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 33 ׃31 ויבא לבן באהל יעקב ובאהל לאה ובאהל שתי האמהת ולא מצא ויצא מאהל לאה ויבא באהל רחל ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 34

Now Rachel had taken the images, and put them in the camel's furniture, and sat upon them. And Laban searched all the tent, but found them not.

- Rachel avait pris les théraphim, les avait mis sous le bât du chameau, et s'était assise dessus. Laban fouilla toute la tente, et ne trouva rien. (Ⅱ)

- Ραχηλ δὲ ἔλαβεν τὰ εἴδωλα καὶ ἐνέβαλεν αὐτὰ εἰς τὰ σάγματα τη̃ς καμήλου καὶ ἐπεκάθισεν αὐτοι̃ς (Ⅲ)

- illa festinans abscondit idola subter stramenta cameli, et sedit desuper : scrutantique omne tentorium, et nihil invenienti, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 34 ׃31 ורחל לקחה את התרפים ותשמם בכר הגמל ותשב עליהם וימשש לבן את כל האהל ולא מצא ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 35

And she said to her father, Let it not displease my lord that I cannot rise up before thee; for the custom of women is upon me. And he searched but found not the images.

- Elle dit à son père: Que mon seigneur ne se fâche point, si je ne puis me lever devant toi, car j'ai ce qui est ordinaire aux femmes. Il chercha, et ne trouva point les théraphim. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν τω̨̃ πατρὶ αὐτη̃ς μὴ βαρέως φέρε κύριε οὐ δύναμαι ἀναστη̃ναι ἐνώπιόν σου ὅτι τὸ κατ' ἐθισμὸν τω̃ν γυναικω̃ν μοί ἐστιν ἠρεύνησεν δὲ Λαβαν ἐν ὅλω̨ τω̨̃ οἴκω̨ καὶ οὐχ εὑ̃ρεν τὰ εἴδωλα (Ⅲ)

- ait : Ne irascatur dominus meus quod coram te assurgere nequeo : quia juxta consuetudinem feminarum nunc accidit mihi : sic delusa sollicitudo quærentis est. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 35 ׃31 ותאמר אל אביה אל יחר בעיני אדני כי לוא אוכל לקום מפניך כי דרך נשים לי ויחפש ולא מצא את התרפים ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 36

And Jacob was wroth, and chode with Laban: and Jacob answered and said to Laban, What is my trespass? what is my sin, that thou hast so hotly pursued after me?

- Jacob s'irrita, et querella Laban. Il reprit la parole, et lui dit: Quel est mon crime, quel est mon péché, que tu me poursuives avec tant d'ardeur? (Ⅱ)

- ὠργίσθη δὲ Ιακωβ καὶ ἐμαχέσατο τω̨̃ Λαβαν ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ Ιακωβ εἰ̃πεν τω̨̃ Λαβαν τί τὸ ἀδίκημά μου καὶ τί τὸ ἁμάρτημά μου ὅτι κατεδίωξας ὀπίσω μου (Ⅲ)

- Tumensque Jacob, cum jurgio ait : Quam ob culpam meam, et ob quod peccatum meum sic exarsisti post me, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 36 ׃31 ויחר ליעקב וירב בלבן ויען יעקב ויאמר ללבן מה פשעי מה חטאתי כי דלקת אחרי ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 37

Whereas thou hast searched all my stuff, what hast thou found of all thy household stuff? set it here before my brethren and thy brethren, that they may judge betwixt us both.

- Quand tu as fouillé tous mes effets, qu'as-tu trouvé des effets de ta maison? Produis-le ici devant mes frères et tes frères, et qu'ils prononcent entre nous deux. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ὅτι ἠρεύνησας πάντα τὰ σκεύη μου τί εὑ̃ρες ἀπὸ πάντων τω̃ν σκευω̃ν του̃ οἴκου σου θὲς ὡ̃δε ἐναντίον τω̃ν ἀδελφω̃ν μου καὶ τω̃ν ἀδελφω̃ν σου καὶ ἐλεγξάτωσαν ἀνὰ μέσον τω̃ν δύο ἡμω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- et scrutatus es omnem supellectilem meam ? quid invenisti de cuncta substantia domus tuæ ? pone hic coram fratribus meis, et fratribus tuis, et judicent inter me et te. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 37 ׃31 כי מששת את כל כלי מה מצאת מכל כלי ביתך שים כה נגד אחי ואחיך ויוכיחו בין שנינו ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 38

This twenty years have I been with thee; thy ewes and thy she goats have not cast their young, and the rams of thy flock have I not eaten.

- Voilà vingt ans que j'ai passés chez toi; tes brebis et tes chèvres n'ont point avorté, et je n'ai point mangé les béliers de ton troupeau. (Ⅱ)

- ταυ̃τά μοι εἴκοσι ἔτη ἐγώ εἰμι μετὰ σου̃ τὰ πρόβατά σου καὶ αἱ αἰ̃γές σου οὐκ ἠτεκνώθησαν κριοὺς τω̃ν προβάτων σου οὐ κατέφαγον (Ⅲ)

- Idcirco viginti annis fui tecum ? oves tuæ et capræ steriles non fuerunt, arietes gregis tui non comedi : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 38 ׃31 זה עשרים שנה אנכי עמך רחליך ועזיך לא שכלו ואילי צאנך לא אכלתי ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 39

That which was torn of beasts I brought not unto thee; I bare the loss of it; of my hand didst thou require it, whether stolen by day, or stolen by night.

- Je ne t'ai point rapporté de bêtes déchirées, j'en ai payé le dommage; tu me redemandais ce qu'on me volait de jour et ce qu'on me volait de nuit. (Ⅱ)

- θηριάλωτον οὐκ ἀνενήνοχά σοι ἐγὼ ἀπετίννυον παρ' ἐμαυτου̃ κλέμματα ἡμέρας καὶ κλέμματα νυκτός (Ⅲ)

- nec captum a bestia ostendi tibi, ego damnum omne reddebam : quidquid furto peribat, a me exigebas : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 39 ׃31 טרפה לא הבאתי אליך אנכי אחטנה מידי תבקשנה גנבתי יום וגנבתי לילה ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 40

Thus I was; in the day the drought consumed me, and the frost by night; and my sleep departed from mine eyes.

- La chaleur me dévorait pendant le jour, et le froid pendant la nuit, et le sommeil fuyait de mes yeux. (Ⅱ)

- ἐγινόμην τη̃ς ἡμέρας συγκαιόμενος τω̨̃ καύματι καὶ παγετω̨̃ τη̃ς νυκτός καὶ ἀφίστατο ὁ ὕπνος ἀπὸ τω̃ν ὀφθαλμω̃ν μου (Ⅲ)

- die noctuque æstu urebar, et gelu, fugiebatque somnus ab oculis meis. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 40 ׃31 הייתי ביום אכלני חרב וקרח בלילה ותדד שנתי מעיני ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 41

Thus have I been twenty years in thy house; I served thee fourteen years for thy two daughters, and six years for thy cattle: and thou hast changed my wages ten times.

- Voilà vingt ans que j'ai passés dans ta maison; je t'ai servi quatorze ans pour tes deux filles, et six ans pour ton troupeau, et tu as changé dix fois mon salaire. (Ⅱ)

- ταυ̃τά μοι εἴκοσι ἔτη ἐγώ εἰμι ἐν τη̨̃ οἰκία̨ σου ἐδούλευσά σοι δέκα τέσσαρα ἔτη ἀντὶ τω̃ν δύο θυγατέρων σου καὶ ἓξ ἔτη ἐν τοι̃ς προβάτοις σου καὶ παρελογίσω τὸν μισθόν μου δέκα ἀμνάσιν (Ⅲ)

- Sicque per viginti annos in domo tua servivi tibi, quatuordecim pro filiabus, et sex pro gregibus tuis : immutasti quoque mercedem meam decem vicibus. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 41 ׃31 זה לי עשרים שנה בביתך עבדתיך ארבע עשרה שנה בשתי בנתיך ושש שנים בצאנך ותחלף את משכרתי עשרת מנים ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 42

Except the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the fear of Isaac, had been with me, surely thou hadst sent me away now empty. God hath seen mine affliction and the labor of my hands, and rebuked thee yesternight.

- Si je n'eusse pas eu pour moi le Dieu de mon père, le Dieu d'Abraham, celui que craint Isaac, tu m'aurais maintenant renvoyé à vide. Dieu a vu ma souffrance et le travail de mes mains, et hier il a prononcé son jugement. (Ⅱ)

- εἰ μὴ ὁ θεὸς του̃ πατρός μου Αβρααμ καὶ ὁ φόβος Ισαακ ἠ̃ν μοι νυ̃ν ἂν κενόν με ἐξαπέστειλας τὴν ταπείνωσίν μου καὶ τὸν κόπον τω̃ν χειρω̃ν μου εἰ̃δεν ὁ θεὸς καὶ ἤλεγξέν σε ἐχθές (Ⅲ)

- Nisi Deus patris mei Abraham, et timor Isaac affuisset mihi, forsitan modo nudum me dimisisses : afflictionem meam et laborem manuum mearum respexit Deus, et arguit te heri.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 42 ׃31 לולי אלהי אבי אלהי אברהם ופחד יצחק היה לי כי עתה ריקם שלחתני את עניי ואת יגיע‪[v]‬ כפי ראה אלהים ויוכח אמש ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 43

And Laban answered and said unto Jacob, These daughters are my daughters, and these children are my children, and these cattle are my cattle, and all that thou seest is mine: and what can I do this day unto these my daughters, or unto their children which they have born?

- Laban répondit, et dit à Jacob: Ces filles sont mes filles, ces enfants sont mes enfants, ce troupeau est mon troupeau, et tout ce que tu vois est à moi. Et que puis-je faire aujourd'hui pour mes filles, ou pour leurs enfants qu'elles ont mis au monde? (Ⅱ)

- ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ Λαβαν εἰ̃πεν τω̨̃ Ιακωβ αἱ θυγατέρες θυγατέρες μου καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ υἱοί μου καὶ τὰ κτήνη κτήνη μου καὶ πάντα ὅσα σὺ ὁρα̨̃ς ἐμά ἐστιν καὶ τω̃ν θυγατέρων μου τί ποιήσω ταύταις σήμερον ἢ τοι̃ς τέκνοις αὐτω̃ν οἱ̃ς ἔτεκον (Ⅲ)

- Respondit ei Laban : Filiæ meæ et filii, et greges tui, et omnia quæ cernis, mea sunt : quid possum facere filiis et nepotibus meis ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 43 ׃31 ויען לבן ויאמר אל יעקב הבנות בנתי והבנים בני והצאן צאני וכל אשר אתה ראה לי הוא ולבנתי מה אעשה לאלה היום או לבניהן אשר ילדו ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 44

Now therefore come thou, let us make a covenant, I and thou; and let it be for a witness between me and thee.

- Viens, faisons alliance, moi et toi, et que cela serve de témoignage entre moi et toi! (Ⅱ)

- νυ̃ν οὐ̃ν δευ̃ρο διαθώμεθα διαθήκην ἐγὼ καὶ σύ καὶ ἔσται εἰς μαρτύριον ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμου̃ καὶ σου̃ εἰ̃πεν δὲ αὐτω̨̃ ἰδοὺ οὐθεὶς μεθ' ἡμω̃ν ἐστιν ἰδὲ ὁ θεὸς μάρτυς ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμου̃ καὶ σου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Veni ergo, et ineamus fœdus, ut sit in testimonium inter me et te. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 44 ׃31 ועתה לכה נכרתה ברית אני ואתה והיה לעד ביני ובינך ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 45

And Jacob took a stone, and set it up for a pillar.

- Jacob prit une pierre, et il la dressa pour monument. (Ⅱ)

- λαβὼν δὲ Ιακωβ λίθον ἔστησεν αὐτὸν στήλην (Ⅲ)

- Tulit itaque Jacob lapidem, et erexit illum in titulum : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 45 ׃31 ויקח יעקב אבן וירימה מצבה ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 46

And Jacob said unto his brethren, Gather stones; and they took stones, and made an heap: and they did eat there upon the heap.

- Jacob dit à ses frères: Ramassez des pierres. Ils prirent des pierres, et firent un monceau; et ils mangèrent là sur le monceau. (Ⅱ)

- εἰ̃πεν δὲ Ιακωβ τοι̃ς ἀδελφοι̃ς αὐτου̃ συλλέγετε λίθους καὶ συνέλεξαν λίθους καὶ ἐποίησαν βουνόν καὶ ἔφαγον καὶ ἔπιον ἐκει̃ ἐπὶ του̃ βουνου̃ καὶ εἰ̃πεν αὐτω̨̃ Λαβαν ὁ βουνὸς οὑ̃τος μαρτυρει̃ ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμου̃ καὶ σου̃ σήμερον (Ⅲ)

- dixitque fratribus suis : Afferte lapides. Qui congregantes fecerunt tumulum, comederuntque super eum : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 46 ׃31 ויאמר יעקב לאחיו לקטו אבנים ויקחו אבנים ויעשו גל ויאכלו שם על הגל ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 47

And Laban called it Jegarsahadutha: but Jacob called it Galeed.

- Laban l'appela Jegar Sahadutha, et Jacob l'appela Galed. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐκάλεσεν αὐτὸν Λαβαν Βουνὸς τη̃ς μαρτυρίας Ιακωβ δὲ ἐκάλεσεν αὐτὸν Βουνὸς μάρτυς (Ⅲ)

- quem vocavit Laban Tumulum testis : et Jacob, Acervum testimonii, uterque juxta proprietatem linguæ suæ. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 47 ׃31 ויקרא לו לבן יגר שהדותא ויעקב קרא לו גלעד ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 48

And Laban said, This heap is a witness between me and thee this day. Therefore was the name of it called Galeed;

- Laban dit: Que ce monceau serve aujourd'hui de témoignage entre moi et toi! C'est pourquoi on lui a donné le nom de Galed. (Ⅱ)

- εἰ̃πεν δὲ Λαβαν τω̨̃ Ιακωβ ἰδοὺ ὁ βουνὸς οὑ̃τος καὶ ἡ στήλη αὕτη ἣν ἔστησα ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμου̃ καὶ σου̃ μαρτυρει̃ ὁ βουνὸς οὑ̃τος καὶ μαρτυρει̃ ἡ στήλη αὕτη διὰ του̃το ἐκλήθη τὸ ὄνομα αὐτου̃ Βουνὸς μαρτυρει̃ (Ⅲ)

- Dixitque Laban : Tumulus iste erit testis inter me et te hodie, et idcirco appellatum est nomen ejus Galaad, id est, Tumulus testis. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 48 ׃31 ויאמר לבן הגל הזה עד ביני ובינך היום על כן קרא שמו‪[c]‬ גלעד ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 49

And Mizpah; for he said, The LORD watch between me and thee, when we are absent one from another.

- On l'appelle aussi Mitspa, parce que Laban dit: Que l'Éternel veille sur toi et sur moi, quand nous nous serons l'un et l'autre perdus de vue. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἡ ὅρασις ἣν εἰ̃πεν ἐπίδοι ὁ θεὸς ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμου̃ καὶ σου̃ ὅτι ἀποστησόμεθα ἕτερος ἀπὸ του̃ ἑτέρου (Ⅲ)

- Intueatur et judicet Dominus inter nos quando recesserimus a nobis, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 49 ׃31 והמצפה אשר אמר יצף יהוה ביני ובינך כי נסתר איש מרעהו ‬ (Ⅴ)

31. 50

If thou shalt afflict my daughters, or if thou shalt take other wives beside my daughters, no man is with us; see, God is witness betwixt me and thee.

- Si tu maltraites mes filles, et si tu prends encore d'autres femmes, ce n'est pas un homme qui sera avec nous, prends-y garde, c'est Dieu qui sera témoin entre moi et toi. (Ⅱ)

- εἰ ταπεινώσεις τὰς θυγατέρας μου εἰ λήμψη̨ γυναι̃κας ἐπὶ ται̃ς θυγατράσιν μου ὅρα οὐθεὶς μεθ' ἡμω̃ν ἐστιν (Ⅲ)

- si afflixeris filias meas, et si introduxeris alias uxores super eas : nullus sermonis nostri testis est absque Deo, qui præsens respicit. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 50 ׃31 אם תענה את בנתי ואם תקח נשים על בנתי אין איש עמנו ראה אלהים עד ביני ובינך ‬ (Ⅴ)
