37. 1

And Jacob dwelt in the land wherein his father was a stranger, in the land of Canaan.

- Jacob demeura dans le pays de Canaan, où avait séjourné son père. (Ⅱ)

- κατώ̨κει δὲ Ιακωβ ἐν τη̨̃ γη̨̃ οὑ̃ παρώ̨κησεν ὁ πατὴρ αὐτου̃ ἐν γη̨̃ Χανααν (Ⅲ)

- Habitavit autem Jacob in terra Chanaan, in qua pater suus peregrinatus est. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 1 ׃37 וישב יעקב בארץ מגורי אביו בארץ כנען ‬ (Ⅴ)

37. 2

These are the generations of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brethren; and the lad was with the sons of Bilhah, and with the sons of Zilpah, his father's wives: and Joseph brought unto his father their evil report.

- Voici la postérité de Jacob. Joseph, âgé de dix-sept ans, faisait paître le troupeau avec ses frères; cet enfant était auprès des fils de Bilha et des fils de Zilpa, femmes de son père. Et Joseph rapportait à leur père leurs mauvais propos. (Ⅱ)

- αὑ̃ται δὲ αἱ γενέσεις Ιακωβ Ιωσηφ δέκα ἑπτὰ ἐτω̃ν ἠ̃ν ποιμαίνων μετὰ τω̃ν ἀδελφω̃ν αὐτου̃ τὰ πρόβατα ὢν νέος μετὰ τω̃ν υἱω̃ν Βαλλας καὶ μετὰ τω̃ν υἱω̃ν Ζελφας τω̃ν γυναικω̃ν του̃ πατρὸς αὐτου̃ κατήνεγκεν δὲ Ιωσηφ ψόγον πονηρὸν πρὸς Ισραηλ τὸν πατέρα αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Et hæ sunt generationes ejus : Joseph cum sedecim esset annorum, pascebat gregem cum fratribus suis adhuc puer : et erat cum filiis Balæ et Zelphæ uxorum patris sui : accusavitque fratres suos apud patrem crimine pessimo. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 2 ׃37 אלה תלדות יעקב יוסף בן שבע עשרה שנה היה רעה את אחיו בצאן והוא נער את בני בלהה ואת בני זלפה נשי אביו ויבא יוסף את דבתם רעה אל אביהם ‬ (Ⅴ)

37. 3

Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colors.

- Israël aimait Joseph plus que tous ses autres fils, parce qu'il l'avait eu dans sa vieillesse; et il lui fit une tunique de plusieurs couleurs. (Ⅱ)

- Ιακωβ δὲ ἠγάπα τὸν Ιωσηφ παρὰ πάντας τοὺς υἱοὺς αὐτου̃ ὅτι υἱὸς γήρους ἠ̃ν αὐτω̨̃ ἐποίησεν δὲ αὐτω̨̃ χιτω̃να ποικίλον (Ⅲ)

- Israël autem diligebat Joseph super omnes filios suos, eo quod in senectute genuisset eum : fecitque ei tunicam polymitam. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 3 ׃37 וישראל אהב את יוסף מכל בניו כי בן זקנים הוא לו ועשה לו כתנת פסים ‬ (Ⅴ)

37. 4

And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him.

- Ses frères virent que leur père l'aimait plus qu'eux tous, et ils le prirent en haine. Ils ne pouvaient lui parler avec amitié. (Ⅱ)

- ἰδόντες δὲ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτου̃ ὅτι αὐτὸν ὁ πατὴρ φιλει̃ ἐκ πάντων τω̃ν υἱω̃ν αὐτου̃ ἐμίσησαν αὐτὸν καὶ οὐκ ἐδύναντο λαλει̃ν αὐτω̨̃ οὐδὲν εἰρηνικόν (Ⅲ)

- Videntes autem fratres ejus quod a patre plus cunctis filiis amaretur, oderant eum, nec poterant ei quidquam pacifice loqui. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 4 ׃37 ויראו אחיו כי אתו אהב אביהם מכל אחיו וישנאו אתו ולא יכלו דברו לשלם ‬ (Ⅴ)

37. 5

And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more.

- Joseph eut un songe, et il le raconta à ses frères, qui le haïrent encore davantage. (Ⅱ)

- ἐνυπνιασθεὶς δὲ Ιωσηφ ἐνύπνιον ἀπήγγειλεν αὐτὸ τοι̃ς ἀδελφοι̃ς αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Accidit quoque ut visum somnium referret fratribus suis : quæ causa majoris odii seminarium fuit. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 5 ׃37 ויחלם יוסף חלום ויגד לאחיו ויוספו עוד שנא אתו ‬ (Ⅴ)

37. 6

And he said unto them, Hear, I pray you, this dream which I have dreamed:

- Il leur dit: Écoutez donc ce songe que j'ai eu! (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν αὐτοι̃ς ἀκούσατε του̃ ἐνυπνίου τούτου οὑ̃ ἐνυπνιάσθην (Ⅲ)

- Dixitque ad eos : Audite somnium meum quod vidi : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 6 ׃37 ויאמר אליהם שמעו נא החלום הזה אשר חלמתי ‬ (Ⅴ)

37. 7

For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf.

- Nous étions à lier des gerbes au milieu des champs; et voici, ma gerbe se leva et se tint debout, et vos gerbes l'entourèrent et se prosternèrent devant elle. (Ⅱ)

- ὤ̨μην ἡμα̃ς δεσμεύειν δράγματα ἐν μέσω̨ τω̨̃ πεδίω̨ καὶ ἀνέστη τὸ ἐμὸν δράγμα καὶ ὠρθώθη περιστραφέντα δὲ τὰ δράγματα ὑμω̃ν προσεκύνησαν τὸ ἐμὸν δράγμα (Ⅲ)

- putabam nos ligare manipulos in agro : et quasi consurgere manipulum meum, et stare, vestrosque manipulos circumstantes adorare manipulum meum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 7 ׃37 והנה אנחנו מאלמים אלמים בתוך השדה והנה קמה אלמתי וגם נצבה והנה תסבינה אלמתיכם ותשתחוין לאלמתי ‬ (Ⅴ)

37. 8

And his brethren said to him, Shalt thou indeed reign over us? or shalt thou indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more for his dreams, and for his words.

- Ses frères lui dirent: Est-ce que tu régneras sur nous? est-ce que tu nous gouverneras? Et ils le haïrent encore davantage, à cause de ses songes et à cause de ses paroles. (Ⅱ)

- εἰ̃παν δὲ αὐτω̨̃ οἱ ἀδελφοί μὴ βασιλεύων βασιλεύσεις ἐφ' ἡμα̃ς ἢ κυριεύων κυριεύσεις ἡμω̃ν καὶ προσέθεντο ἔτι μισει̃ν αὐτὸν ἕνεκεν τω̃ν ἐνυπνίων αὐτου̃ καὶ ἕνεκεν τω̃ν ῥημάτων αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Responderunt fratres ejus : Numquid rex noster eris ? aut subjiciemur ditioni tuæ ? Hæc ergo causa somniorum atque sermonum, invidiæ et odii fomitem ministravit. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 8 ׃37 ויאמרו לו אחיו המלך תמלך עלינו אם משול תמשל בנו ויוספו עוד שנא אתו על חלמתיו ועל דבריו ‬ (Ⅴ)

37. 9

And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me.

- Il eut encore un autre songe, et il le raconta à ses frères. Il dit: J'ai eu encore un songe! Et voici, le soleil, la lune et onze étoiles se prosternaient devant moi. (Ⅱ)

- εἰ̃δεν δὲ ἐνύπνιον ἕτερον καὶ διηγήσατο αὐτὸ τω̨̃ πατρὶ αὐτου̃ καὶ τοι̃ς ἀδελφοι̃ς αὐτου̃ καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἰδοὺ ἐνυπνιασάμην ἐνύπνιον ἕτερον ὥσπερ ὁ ἥλιος καὶ ἡ σελήνη καὶ ἕνδεκα ἀστέρες προσεκύνουν με (Ⅲ)

- Aliud quoque vidit somnium, quod narrans fratribus, ait : Vidi per somnium, quasi solem, et lunam, et stellas undecim adorare me. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 9 ׃37 ויחלם עוד חלום אחר ויספר אתו לאחיו ויאמר הנה חלמתי חלום עוד והנה השמש והירח ואחד עשר כוכבים משתחוים לי ‬ (Ⅴ)

37. 10

And he told it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth?

- Il le raconta à son père et à ses frères. Son père le réprimanda, et lui dit: Que signifie ce songe que tu as eu? Faut-il que nous venions, moi, ta mère et tes frères, nous prosterner en terre devant toi? (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐπετίμησεν αὐτω̨̃ ὁ πατὴρ αὐτου̃ καὶ εἰ̃πεν αὐτω̨̃ τί τὸ ἐνύπνιον του̃το ὃ ἐνυπνιάσθης ἀ̃ρά γε ἐλθόντες ἐλευσόμεθα ἐγώ τε καὶ ἡ μήτηρ σου καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοί σου προσκυνη̃σαί σοι ἐπὶ τὴν γη̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Quod cum patri suo, et fratribus retulisset, increpavit eum pater suus, et dixit : Quid sibi vult hoc somnium quod vidisti ? num ego et mater tua, et fratres tui adorabimus te super terram ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 10 ׃37 ויספר אל אביו ואל אחיו ויגער בו אביו ויאמר לו מה החלום הזה אשר חלמת הבוא נבוא אני ואמך ואחיך להשתחות לך ארצה ‬ (Ⅴ)

37. 11

And his brethren envied him; but his father observed the saying.

- Ses frères eurent de l'envie contre lui, mais son père garda le souvenir de ces choses. (Ⅱ)

- ἐζήλωσαν δὲ αὐτὸν οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτου̃ ὁ δὲ πατὴρ αὐτου̃ διετήρησεν τὸ ῥη̃μα (Ⅲ)

- Invidebant ei igitur fratres sui : pater vero rem tacitus considerabat.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 11 ׃37 ויקנאו בו אחיו ואביו שמר את הדבר ‬ (Ⅴ)

37. 12

And his brethren went to feed their father's flock in Shechem.

- Les frères de Joseph étant allés à Sichem, pour faire paître le troupeau de leur père, (Ⅱ)

- ἐπορεύθησαν δὲ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτου̃ βόσκειν τὰ πρόβατα του̃ πατρὸς αὐτω̃ν εἰς Συχεμ (Ⅲ)

- Cumque fratres illius in pascendis gregibus patris morarentur in Sichem, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 12 ׃37 וילכו אחיו לרעות את צאן‪[4]‬ אביהם בשכם ‬ (Ⅴ)

37. 13

And Israel said unto Joseph, Do not thy brethren feed the flock in Shechem? come, and I will send thee unto them. And he said to him, Here am I.

- Israël dit à Joseph: Tes frères ne font-ils pas paître le troupeau à Sichem? Viens, je veux t'envoyer vers eux. Et il répondit: Me voici! (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ισραηλ πρὸς Ιωσηφ οὐχ οἱ ἀδελφοί σου ποιμαίνουσιν ἐν Συχεμ δευ̃ρο ἀποστείλω σε πρὸς αὐτούς εἰ̃πεν δὲ αὐτω̨̃ ἰδοὺ ἐγώ (Ⅲ)

- dixit ad eum Israël : Fratres tui pascunt oves in Sichimis : veni, mittam te ad eos. Quo respondente, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 13 ׃37 ויאמר ישראל אל יוסף הלוא אחיך רעים בשכם לכה ואשלחך אליהם ויאמר לו הנני ‬ (Ⅴ)

37. 14

And he said to him, Go, I pray thee, see whether it be well with thy brethren, and well with the flocks; and bring me word again. So he sent him out of the vale of Hebron, and he came to Shechem.

- Israël lui dit: Va, je te prie, et vois si tes frères sont en bonne santé et si le troupeau est en bon état; et tu m'en rapporteras des nouvelles. Il l'envoya ainsi de la vallée d'Hébron; et Joseph alla à Sichem. (Ⅱ)

- εἰ̃πεν δὲ αὐτω̨̃ Ισραηλ πορευθεὶς ἰδὲ εἰ ὑγιαίνουσιν οἱ ἀδελφοί σου καὶ τὰ πρόβατα καὶ ἀνάγγειλόν μοι καὶ ἀπέστειλεν αὐτὸν ἐκ τη̃ς κοιλάδος τη̃ς Χεβρων καὶ ἠ̃λθεν εἰς Συχεμ (Ⅲ)

- Præsto sum, ait ei : Vade, et vide si cuncta prospera sint erga fratres tuos, et pecora : et renuntia mihi quid agatur. Missus de valle Hebron, venit in Sichem : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 14 ׃37 ויאמר לו לך נא ראה את שלום אחיך ואת שלום הצאן והשבני דבר וישלחהו מעמק חברון ויבא שכמה ‬ (Ⅴ)

37. 15

And a certain man found him, and, behold, he was wandering in the field: and the man asked him, saying, What seekest thou?

- Un homme le rencontra, comme il errait dans les champs. Il le questionna, en disant: Que cherches-tu? (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εὑ̃ρεν αὐτὸν ἄνθρωπος πλανώμενον ἐν τω̨̃ πεδίω̨ ἠρώτησεν δὲ αὐτὸν ὁ ἄνθρωπος λέγων τί ζητει̃ς (Ⅲ)

- invenitque eum vir errantem in agro, et interrogavit quid quæreret. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 15 ׃37 וימצאהו איש והנה תעה בשדה וישאלהו האיש לאמר מה תבקש ‬ (Ⅴ)

37. 16

And he said, I seek my brethren: tell me, I pray thee, where they feed their flocks.

- Joseph répondit: Je cherche mes frères; dis-moi, je te prie, où ils font paître leur troupeau. (Ⅱ)

- ὁ δὲ εἰ̃πεν τοὺς ἀδελφούς μου ζητω̃ ἀνάγγειλόν μοι που̃ βόσκουσιν (Ⅲ)

- At ille respondit : Fratres meos quæro : indica mihi ubi pascant greges. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 16 ׃37 ויאמר את אחי אנכי מבקש הגידה נא לי איפה הם רעים ‬ (Ⅴ)

37. 17

And the man said, They are departed hence; for I heard them say, Let us go to Dothan. And Joseph went after his brethren, and found them in Dothan.

- Et l'homme dit: Ils sont partis d'ici; car je les ai entendus dire: Allons à Dothan. Joseph alla après ses frères, et il les trouva à Dothan. (Ⅱ)

- εἰ̃πεν δὲ αὐτω̨̃ ὁ ἄνθρωπος ἀπήρκασιν ἐντευ̃θεν ἤκουσα γὰρ αὐτω̃ν λεγόντων πορευθω̃μεν εἰς Δωθαϊμ καὶ ἐπορεύθη Ιωσηφ κατόπισθεν τω̃ν ἀδελφω̃ν αὐτου̃ καὶ εὑ̃ρεν αὐτοὺς ἐν Δωθαϊμ (Ⅲ)

- Dixitque ei vir : Recesserunt de loco isto : audivi autem eos dicentes : Eamus in Dothain. Perrexit ergo Joseph post fratres suos, et invenit eos in Dothain. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 17 ׃37 ויאמר האיש נסעו מזה כי שמעתי אמרים נלכה דתינה וילך יוסף אחר אחיו וימצאם בדתן ‬ (Ⅴ)

37. 18

And when they saw him afar off, even before he came near unto them, they conspired against him to slay him.

- Ils le virent de loin; et, avant qu'il fût près d'eux, ils complotèrent de le faire mourir. (Ⅱ)

- προει̃δον δὲ αὐτὸν μακρόθεν πρὸ του̃ ἐγγίσαι αὐτὸν πρὸς αὐτοὺς καὶ ἐπονηρεύοντο του̃ ἀποκτει̃ναι αὐτόν (Ⅲ)

- Qui cum vidissent eum procul, antequam accederet ad eos, cogitaverunt illum occidere : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 18 ׃37 ויראו אתו מרחק ובטרם יקרב אליהם ויתנכלו אתו להמיתו ‬ (Ⅴ)

37. 19

And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer cometh.

- Ils se dirent l'un à l'autre: Voici le faiseur de songes qui arrive. (Ⅱ)

- εἰ̃παν δὲ ἕκαστος πρὸς τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτου̃ ἰδοὺ ὁ ἐνυπνιαστὴς ἐκει̃νος ἔρχεται (Ⅲ)

- et mutuo loquebantur : Ecce somniator venit : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 19 ׃37 ויאמרו איש אל אחיו הנה בעל החלמות הלזה בא ‬ (Ⅴ)

37. 20

Come now therefore, and let us slay him, and cast him into some pit, and we will say, Some evil beast hath devoured him: and we shall see what will become of his dreams.

- Venez maintenant, tuons-le, et jetons-le dans une des citernes; nous dirons qu'une bête féroce l'a dévoré, et nous verrons ce que deviendront ses songes. (Ⅱ)

- νυ̃ν οὐ̃ν δευ̃τε ἀποκτείνωμεν αὐτὸν καὶ ῥίψωμεν αὐτὸν εἰς ἕνα τω̃ν λάκκων καὶ ἐρου̃μεν θηρίον πονηρὸν κατέφαγεν αὐτόν καὶ ὀψόμεθα τί ἔσται τὰ ἐνύπνια αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- venite, occidamus eum, et mittamus in cisternam veterem : dicemusque : Fera pessima devoravit eum : et tunc apparebit quid illi prosint somnia sua. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 20 ׃37 ועתה לכו ונהרגהו ונשלכהו באחד הברות ואמרנו חיה רעה אכלתהו ונראה מה יהיו חלמתיו ‬ (Ⅴ)

37. 21

And Reuben heard it, and he delivered him out of their hands; and said, Let us not kill him.

- Ruben entendit cela, et il le délivra de leurs mains. Il dit: Ne lui ôtons pas la vie. (Ⅱ)

- ἀκούσας δὲ Ρουβην ἐξείλατο αὐτὸν ἐκ τω̃ν χειρω̃ν αὐτω̃ν καὶ εἰ̃πεν οὐ πατάξομεν αὐτὸν εἰς ψυχήν (Ⅲ)

- Audiens autem hoc Ruben, nitebatur liberare eum de manibus eorum, et dicebat : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 21 ׃37 וישמע ראובן ויצלהו מידם ויאמר לא נכנו נפש ‬ (Ⅴ)

37. 22

And Reuben said unto them, Shed no blood, but cast him into this pit that is in the wilderness, and lay no hand upon him; that he might rid him out of their hands, to deliver him to his father again.

- Ruben leur dit: Ne répandez point de sang; jetez-le dans cette citerne qui est au désert, et ne mettez pas la main sur lui. Il avait dessein de le délivrer de leurs mains pour le faire retourner vers son père. (Ⅱ)

- εἰ̃πεν δὲ αὐτοι̃ς Ρουβην μὴ ἐκχέητε αἱ̃μα ἐμβάλετε αὐτὸν εἰς τὸν λάκκον του̃τον τὸν ἐν τη̨̃ ἐρήμω̨ χει̃ρα δὲ μὴ ἐπενέγκητε αὐτω̨̃ ὅπως ἐξέληται αὐτὸν ἐκ τω̃ν χειρω̃ν αὐτω̃ν καὶ ἀποδω̨̃ αὐτὸν τω̨̃ πατρὶ αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Non interficiatis animam ejus, nec effundatis sanguinem : sed projicite eum in cisternam hanc, quæ est in solitudine, manusque vestras servate innoxias : hoc autem dicebat, volens eripere eum de manibus eorum, et reddere patri suo. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 22 ׃37 ויאמר אלהם ראובן אל תשפכו דם השליכו אתו אל הבור הזה אשר במדבר ויד אל תשלחו בו למען הציל אתו מידם להשיבו אל אביו ‬ (Ⅴ)

37. 23

And it came to pass, when Joseph was come unto his brethren, that they stripped Joseph out of his coat, his coat of many colors that was on him;

- Lorsque Joseph fut arrivé auprès de ses frères, ils le dépouillèrent de sa tunique, de la tunique de plusieurs couleurs, qu'il avait sur lui. (Ⅱ)

- ἐγένετο δὲ ἡνίκα ἠ̃λθεν Ιωσηφ πρὸς τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτου̃ ἐξέδυσαν τὸν Ιωσηφ τὸν χιτω̃να τὸν ποικίλον τὸν περὶ αὐτὸν (Ⅲ)

- Confestim igitur ut pervenit ad fratres suos, nudaverunt eum tunica talari et polymita : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 23 ׃37 ויהי כאשר בא יוסף אל אחיו ויפשיטו את יוסף את כתנתו את כתנת הפסים אשר עליו ‬ (Ⅴ)

37. 24

And they took him, and cast him into a pit: and the pit was empty, there was no water in it.

- Ils le prirent, et le jetèrent dans la citerne. Cette citerne était vide; il n'y avait point d'eau. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ λαβόντες αὐτὸν ἔρριψαν εἰς τὸν λάκκον ὁ δὲ λάκκος κενός ὕδωρ οὐκ εἰ̃χεν (Ⅲ)

- miseruntque eum in cisternam veterem, quæ non habebat aquam. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 24 ׃37 ויקחהו וישלכו אתו הברה והבור רק אין בו מים ‬ (Ⅴ)

37. 25

And they sat down to eat bread: and they lifted up their eyes and looked, and, behold, a company of Ishmaelites came from Gilead with their camels bearing spicery and balm and myrrh, going to carry it down to Egypt.

- Ils s'assirent ensuite pour manger. Ayant levé les yeux, ils virent une caravane d'Ismaélites venant de Galaad; leurs chameaux étaient chargés d'aromates, de baume et de myrrhe, qu'ils transportaient en Égypte. (Ⅱ)

- ἐκάθισαν δὲ φαγει̃ν ἄρτον καὶ ἀναβλέψαντες τοι̃ς ὀφθαλμοι̃ς εἰ̃δον καὶ ἰδοὺ ὁδοιπόροι Ισμαηλι̃ται ἤρχοντο ἐκ Γαλααδ καὶ αἱ κάμηλοι αὐτω̃ν ἔγεμον θυμιαμάτων καὶ ῥητίνης καὶ στακτη̃ς ἐπορεύοντο δὲ καταγαγει̃ν εἰς Αἴγυπτον (Ⅲ)

- Et sedentes ut comederent panem, viderunt Ismaëlitas viatores venire de Galaad, et camelos eorum portantes aromata, et resinam, et stacten in Ægyptum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 25 ׃37 וישבו לאכל לחם וישאו עיניהם ויראו והנה ארחת ישמעאלים באה מגלעד וגמליהם נשאים נכאת וצרי ולט הולכים להוריד מצרימה ‬ (Ⅴ)

37. 26

And Judah said unto his brethren, What profit is it if we slay our brother, and conceal his blood?

- Alors Juda dit à ses frères: Que gagnerons-nous à tuer notre frère et à cacher son sang? (Ⅱ)

- εἰ̃πεν δὲ Ιουδας πρὸς τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτου̃ τί χρήσιμον ἐὰν ἀποκτείνωμεν τὸν ἀδελφὸν ἡμω̃ν καὶ κρύψωμεν τὸ αἱ̃μα αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Dixit ergo Judas fratribus suis : Quid nobis prodest si occiderimus fratrem nostrum, et celaverimus sanguinem ipsius ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 26 ׃37 ויאמר יהודה אל אחיו מה בצע כי נהרג את אחינו וכסינו את דמו ‬ (Ⅴ)

37. 27

Come, and let us sell him to the Ishmaelites, and let not our hand be upon him; for he is our brother and our flesh. And his brethren were content.

- Venez, vendons-le aux Ismaélites, et ne mettons pas la main sur lui, car il est notre frère, notre chair. Et ses frères l'écoutèrent. (Ⅱ)

- δευ̃τε ἀποδώμεθα αὐτὸν τοι̃ς Ισμαηλίταις τούτοις αἱ δὲ χει̃ρες ἡμω̃ν μὴ ἔστωσαν ἐπ' αὐτόν ὅτι ἀδελφὸς ἡμω̃ν καὶ σὰρξ ἡμω̃ν ἐστιν ἤκουσαν δὲ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- melius est ut venundetur Ismaëlitis, et manus nostræ non polluantur : frater enim et caro nostra est. Acquieverunt fratres sermonibus illius. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 27 ׃37 לכו ונמכרנו לישמעאלים וידנו אל תהי בו כי אחינו בשרנו הוא וישמעו אחיו ‬ (Ⅴ)

37. 28

Then there passed by Midianites merchantmen; and they drew and lifted up Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ishmaelites for twenty pieces of silver: and they brought Joseph into Egypt.

- Au passage des marchands madianites, ils tirèrent et firent remonter Joseph hors de la citerne; et ils le vendirent pour vingt sicles d'argent aux Ismaélites, qui l'emmenèrent en Égypte. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ παρεπορεύοντο οἱ ἄνθρωποι οἱ Μαδιηναι̃οι οἱ ἔμποροι καὶ ἐξείλκυσαν καὶ ἀνεβίβασαν τὸν Ιωσηφ ἐκ του̃ λάκκου καὶ ἀπέδοντο τὸν Ιωσηφ τοι̃ς Ισμαηλίταις εἴκοσι χρυσω̃ν καὶ κατήγαγον τὸν Ιωσηφ εἰς Αἴγυπτον (Ⅲ)

- Et prætereuntibus Madianitis negotiatoribus, extrahentes eum de cisterna, vendiderunt eum Ismaëlitis, viginti argenteis : qui duxerunt eum in Ægyptum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 28 ׃37 ויעברו אנשים מדינים סחרים וימשכו ויעלו את יוסף מן הבור וימכרו את יוסף לישמעאלים בעשרים כסף ויביאו את יוסף מצרימה ‬ (Ⅴ)

37. 29

And Reuben returned unto the pit; and, behold, Joseph was not in the pit; and he rent his clothes.

- Ruben revint à la citerne; et voici, Joseph n'était plus dans la citerne. Il déchira ses vêtements, (Ⅱ)

- ἀνέστρεψεν δὲ Ρουβην ἐπὶ τὸν λάκκον καὶ οὐχ ὁρα̨̃ τὸν Ιωσηφ ἐν τω̨̃ λάκκω̨ καὶ διέρρηξεν τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Reversusque Ruben ad cisternam, non invenit puerum : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 29 ׃37 וישב ראובן אל הבור והנה אין יוסף בבור ויקרע את בגדיו ‬ (Ⅴ)

37. 30

And he returned unto his brethren, and said, The child is not; and I, whither shall I go?

- retourna vers ses frères, et dit: L'enfant n'y est plus! Et moi, où irai-je? (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀνέστρεψεν πρὸς τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτου̃ καὶ εἰ̃πεν τὸ παιδάριον οὐκ ἔστιν ἐγὼ δὲ που̃ πορεύομαι ἔτι (Ⅲ)

- et scissis vestibus pergens ad fratres suos, ait : Puer non comparet, et ego quo ibo ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 30 ׃37 וישב אל אחיו ויאמר הילד איננו ואני אנה אני בא ‬ (Ⅴ)

37. 31

And they took Joseph's coat, and killed a kid of the goats, and dipped the coat in the blood;

- Ils prirent alors la tunique de Joseph; et, ayant tué un bouc, ils plongèrent la tunique dans le sang. (Ⅱ)

- λαβόντες δὲ τὸν χιτω̃να του̃ Ιωσηφ ἔσφαξαν ἔριφον αἰγω̃ν καὶ ἐμόλυναν τὸν χιτω̃να τω̨̃ αἵματι (Ⅲ)

- Tulerunt autem tunicam ejus, et in sanguine hædi, quem occiderant, tinxerunt : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 31 ׃37 ויקחו את כתנת יוסף וישחטו שעיר עזים ויטבלו את הכתנת בדם ‬ (Ⅴ)

37. 32

And they sent the coat of many colors, and they brought it to their father; and said, This have we found: know now whether it be thy son's coat or no.

- Ils envoyèrent à leur père la tunique de plusieurs couleurs, en lui faisant dire: Voici ce que nous avons trouvé! reconnais si c'est la tunique de ton fils, ou non. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀπέστειλαν τὸν χιτω̃να τὸν ποικίλον καὶ εἰσήνεγκαν τω̨̃ πατρὶ αὐτω̃ν καὶ εἰ̃παν του̃τον εὕρομεν ἐπίγνωθι εἰ χιτὼν του̃ υἱου̃ σού ἐστιν ἢ οὔ (Ⅲ)

- mittentes qui ferrent ad patrem, et dicerent : Hanc invenimus : vide utrum tunica filii tui sit, an non. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 32 ׃37 וישלחו את כתנת הפסים ויביאו אל אביהם ויאמרו זאת מצאנו הכר נא הכתנת בנך הוא אם לא ‬ (Ⅴ)

37. 33

And he knew it, and said, It is my son's coat; an evil beast hath devoured him; Joseph is without doubt rent in pieces.

- Jacob la reconnut, et dit: C'est la tunique de mon fils! une bête féroce l'a dévoré! Joseph a été mis en pièces! (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐπέγνω αὐτὸν καὶ εἰ̃πεν χιτὼν του̃ υἱου̃ μού ἐστιν θηρίον πονηρὸν κατέφαγεν αὐτόν θηρίον ἥρπασεν τὸν Ιωσηφ (Ⅲ)

- Quam cum agnovisset pater, ait : Tunica filii mei est : fera pessima comedit eum, bestia devoravit Joseph. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 33 ׃37 ויכירה ויאמר כתנת בני חיה רעה אכלתהו טרף טרף יוסף ‬ (Ⅴ)

37. 34

And Jacob rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his loins, and mourned for his son many days.

- Et il déchira ses vêtements, il mit un sac sur ses reins, et il porta longtemps le deuil de son fils. (Ⅱ)

- διέρρηξεν δὲ Ιακωβ τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐπέθετο σάκκον ἐπὶ τὴν ὀσφὺν αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐπένθει τὸν υἱὸν αὐτου̃ ἡμέρας πολλάς (Ⅲ)

- Scissisque vestibus, indutus est cilicio, lugens filium suum multo tempore. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 34 ׃37 ויקרע יעקב שמלתיו וישם שק במתניו ויתאבל על בנו ימים רבים ‬ (Ⅴ)

37. 35

And all his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him; but he refused to be comforted; and he said, For I will go down into the grave unto my son mourning. Thus his father wept for him.

- Tous ses fils et toutes ses filles vinrent pour le consoler; mais il ne voulut recevoir aucune consolation. Il disait: C'est en pleurant que je descendrai vers mon fils au séjour des morts! Et il pleurait son fils. (Ⅱ)

- συνήχθησαν δὲ πάντες οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτου̃ καὶ αἱ θυγατέρες καὶ ἠ̃λθον παρακαλέσαι αὐτόν καὶ οὐκ ἤθελεν παρακαλει̃σθαι λέγων ὅτι καταβήσομαι πρὸς τὸν υἱόν μου πενθω̃ν εἰς ἅ̨δου καὶ ἔκλαυσεν αὐτὸν ὁ πατὴρ αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Congregatis autem cunctis liberis ejus ut lenirent dolorem patris, noluit consolationem accipere, sed ait : Descendam ad filium meum lugens in infernum. Et illo perseverante in fletu, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 35 ׃37 ויקמו כל בניו וכל בנתיו לנחמו וימאן להתנחם ויאמר כי ארד אל בני אבל שאלה ויבך אתו אביו ‬ (Ⅴ)

37. 36

And the Midianites sold him into Egypt unto Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh's, and captain of the guard.

- Les Madianites le vendirent en Égypte à Potiphar, officier de Pharaon, chef des gardes. (Ⅱ)

- οἱ δὲ Μαδιηναι̃οι ἀπέδοντο τὸν Ιωσηφ εἰς Αἴγυπτον τω̨̃ Πετεφρη τω̨̃ σπάδοντι Φαραω ἀρχιμαγείρω̨ (Ⅲ)

- Madianitæ vendiderunt Joseph in Ægypto Putiphari eunucho Pharaonis, magistro militum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 36 ׃37 והמדנים מכרו אתו אל מצרים לפוטיפר סריס פרעה שר הטבחים פ‬ (Ⅴ)
