43. 1  
And the famine was sore in the land.
- La famine s'appesantissait sur le pays. (Ⅱ)
- ὁ δὲ λιμὸς ἐνίσχυσεν ἐπὶ τη̃ς γη̃ς (Ⅲ)
- Interim fames omnem terram vehementer premebat. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 1  ׃43  והרעב כבד בארץ ‬ (Ⅴ)
43. 2  
And it came to pass, when they had eaten up the corn which they had brought out of Egypt, their father said unto them, Go again, buy us a little food.
- Quand ils eurent fini de manger le blé qu'ils avaient apporté d'Égypte, Jacob dit à ses fils: Retournez, achetez-nous un peu de vivres. (Ⅱ)
- ἐγένετο δὲ ἡνίκα συνετέλεσαν καταφαγει̃ν τὸν σι̃τον ὃν ἤνεγκαν ἐξ Αἰγύπτου καὶ εἰ̃πεν αὐτοι̃ς ὁ πατὴρ αὐτω̃ν πάλιν πορευθέντες πρίασθε ἡμι̃ν μικρὰ βρώματα (Ⅲ)
- Consumptisque cibis quos ex Ægypto detulerant, dixit Jacob ad filios suos : Revertimini, et emite nobis pauxillum escarum. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 2  ׃43  ויהי כאשר כלו לאכל את השבר אשר הביאו ממצרים ויאמר אליהם אביהם שבו שברו לנו מעט אכל ‬ (Ⅴ)
43. 3  
And Judah spake unto him, saying, The man did solemnly protest unto us, saying, Ye shall not see my face, except your brother be with you.
- Juda lui répondit: Cet homme nous a fait cette déclaration formelle: Vous ne verrez pas ma face, à moins que votre frère ne soit avec vous. (Ⅱ)
- εἰ̃πεν δὲ αὐτω̨̃ Ιουδας λέγων διαμαρτυρία̨ διαμεμαρτύρηται ἡμι̃ν ὁ ἄνθρωπος λέγων οὐκ ὄψεσθε τὸ πρόσωπόν μου ἐὰν μὴ ὁ ἀδελφὸς ὑμω̃ν ὁ νεώτερος μεθ' ὑμω̃ν ἠ̨̃ (Ⅲ)
- Respondit Judas : Denuntiavit nobis vir ille sub attestatione jurisjurandi, dicens : Non videbitis faciem meam, nisi fratrem vestrum minimum adduxeritis vobiscum. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 3  ׃43  ויאמר אליו יהודה לאמר העד העד בנו האיש לאמר לא תראו פני בלתי אחיכם אתכם ‬ (Ⅴ)
43. 4  
If thou wilt send our brother with us, we will go down and buy thee food:
- Si donc tu veux envoyer notre frère avec nous, nous descendrons, et nous t'achèterons des vivres. (Ⅱ)
- εἰ μὲν οὐ̃ν ἀποστέλλεις τὸν ἀδελφὸν ἡμω̃ν μεθ' ἡμω̃ν καταβησόμεθα καὶ ἀγοράσωμέν σοι βρώματα (Ⅲ)
- Si ergo vis eum mittere nobiscum, pergemus pariter, et ememus tibi necessaria : (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 4  ׃43  אם ישך משלח את אחינו אתנו נרדה ונשברה לך אכל ‬ (Ⅴ)
43. 5  
But if thou wilt not send him, we will not go down: for the man said unto us, Ye shall not see my face, except your brother be with you.
- Mais si tu ne veux pas l'envoyer, nous ne descendrons point, car cet homme nous a dit: Vous ne verrez pas ma face, à moins que votre frère ne soit avec vous. (Ⅱ)
- εἰ δὲ μὴ ἀποστέλλεις τὸν ἀδελφὸν ἡμω̃ν μεθ' ἡμω̃ν οὐ πορευσόμεθα ὁ γὰρ ἄνθρωπος εἰ̃πεν ἡμι̃ν λέγων οὐκ ὄψεσθέ μου τὸ πρόσωπον ἐὰν μὴ ὁ ἀδελφὸς ὑμω̃ν ὁ νεώτερος μεθ' ὑμω̃ν ἠ̨̃ (Ⅲ)
- sin autem non vis, non ibimus : vir enim, ut sæpe diximus, denuntiavit nobis, dicens : Non videbitis faciem meam absque fratre vestro minimo. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 5  ׃43  ואם אינך משלח לא נרד כי האיש אמר אלינו לא תראו פני בלתי אחיכם אתכם ‬ (Ⅴ)
43. 6  
And Israel said, Wherefore dealt ye so ill with me, as to tell the man whether ye had yet a brother?
- Israël dit alors: Pourquoi avez-vous mal agi à mon égard, en disant à cet homme que vous aviez encore un frère? (Ⅱ)
- εἰ̃πεν δὲ Ισραηλ τί ἐκακοποιήσατέ με ἀναγγείλαντες τω̨̃ ἀνθρώπω̨ εἰ ἔστιν ὑμι̃ν ἀδελφός (Ⅲ)
- Dixit eis Israël : In meam hoc fecistis miseriam, ut indicaretis ei et alium habere vos fratrem. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 6  ׃43  ויאמר ישראל למה הרעתם לי להגיד לאיש העוד לכם אח ‬ (Ⅴ)
43. 7  
And they said, The man asked us straitly of our state, and of our kindred, saying, Is your father yet alive? have ye another brother? and we told him according to the tenor of these words: could we certainly know that he would say, Bring your brother down?
- Ils répondirent: Cet homme nous a interrogés sur nous et sur notre famille, en disant: Votre père vit-il encore? avez-vous un frère? Et nous avons répondu à ces questions. Pouvions-nous savoir qu'il dirait: Faites descendre votre frère? (Ⅱ)
- οἱ δὲ εἰ̃παν ἐρωτω̃ν ἐπηρώτησεν ἡμα̃ς ὁ ἄνθρωπος καὶ τὴν γενεὰν ἡμω̃ν λέγων εἰ ἔτι ὁ πατὴρ ὑμω̃ν ζη̨̃ εἰ ἔστιν ὑμι̃ν ἀδελφός καὶ ἀπηγγείλαμεν αὐτω̨̃ κατὰ τὴν ἐπερώτησιν ταύτην μὴ ἤ̨δειμεν εἰ ἐρει̃ ἡμι̃ν ἀγάγετε τὸν ἀδελφὸν ὑμω̃ν (Ⅲ)
- At illi responderunt : Interrogavit nos homo per ordinem nostram progeniem : si pater viveret : si haberemus fratrem : et nos respondimus ei consequenter juxta id quod fuerat sciscitatus : numquid scire poteramus quod dicturus esset : Adducite fratrem vestrum vobiscum ? (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 7  ׃43  ויאמרו שאול שאל האיש לנו ולמולדתנו לאמר העוד אביכם חי היש לכם אח ונגד לו‪[1]‬ על פי הדברים האלה הידוע נדע כי יאמר הורידו את אחיכם ‬ (Ⅴ)
43. 8  
And Judah said unto Israel his father, Send the lad with me, and we will arise and go; that we may live, and not die, both we, and thou, and also our little ones.
- Juda dit à Israël, son père: Laisse venir l'enfant avec moi, afin que nous nous levions et que nous partions; et nous vivrons et ne mourrons pas, nous, toi, et nos enfants. (Ⅱ)
- εἰ̃πεν δὲ Ιουδας πρὸς Ισραηλ τὸν πατέρα αὐτου̃ ἀπόστειλον τὸ παιδάριον μετ' ἐμου̃ καὶ ἀναστάντες πορευσόμεθα ἵνα ζω̃μεν καὶ μὴ ἀποθάνωμεν καὶ ἡμει̃ς καὶ σὺ καὶ ἡ ἀποσκευὴ ἡμω̃ν (Ⅲ)
- Judas quoque dixit patri suo : Mitte puerum mecum, ut proficiscamur, et possimus vivere : ne moriamur nos et parvuli nostri. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 8  ׃43  ויאמר יהודה אל ישראל אביו שלחה הנער אתי ונקומה ונלכה ונחיה ולא נמות גם אנחנו גם אתה גם טפנו ‬ (Ⅴ)
43. 9  
I will be surety for him; of my hand shalt thou require him: if I bring him not unto thee, and set him before thee, then let me bear the blame for ever:
- Je réponds de lui; tu le redemanderas de ma main. Si je ne le ramène pas auprès de toi et si je ne le remets pas devant ta face, je serai pour toujours coupable envers toi. (Ⅱ)
- ἐγὼ δὲ ἐκδέχομαι αὐτόν ἐκ χειρός μου ζήτησον αὐτόν ἐὰν μὴ ἀγάγω αὐτὸν πρὸς σὲ καὶ στήσω αὐτὸν ἐναντίον σου ἡμαρτηκὼς ἔσομαι πρὸς σὲ πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας (Ⅲ)
- Ego suscipio puerum : de manu mea require illum : nisi reduxero, et reddidero eum tibi, ero peccati reus in te omni tempore. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 9  ׃43  אנכי אערבנו מידי תבקשנו אם לא הביאתיו אליך והצגתיו לפניך וחטאתי לך כל הימים ‬ (Ⅴ)
43. 10  
For except we had lingered, surely now we had returned this second time.
- Car si nous n'eussions pas tardé, nous serions maintenant deux fois de retour. (Ⅱ)
- εἰ μὴ γὰρ ἐβραδύναμεν ἤδη ἂν ὑπεστρέψαμεν δίς (Ⅲ)
- Si non intercessisset dilatio, jam vice alter venissemus. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 10 ׃43  כי לולא התמהמהנו כי עתה שבנו זה פעמים ‬ (Ⅴ)
43. 11  
And their father Israel said unto them, If it must be so now, do this; take of the best fruits in the land in your vessels, and carry down the man a present, a little balm, and a little honey, spices, and myrrh, nuts, and almonds:
- Israël, leur père, leur dit: Puisqu'il le faut, faites ceci. Prenez dans vos sacs des meilleures productions du pays, pour en porter un présent à cet homme, un peu de baume et un peu de miel, des aromates, de la myrrhe, des pistaches et des amandes. (Ⅱ)
- εἰ̃πεν δὲ αὐτοι̃ς Ισραηλ ὁ πατὴρ αὐτω̃ν εἰ οὕτως ἐστίν του̃το ποιήσατε λάβετε ἀπὸ τω̃ν καρπω̃ν τη̃ς γη̃ς ἐν τοι̃ς ἀγγείοις ὑμω̃ν καὶ καταγάγετε τω̨̃ ἀνθρώπω̨ δω̃ρα τη̃ς ῥητίνης καὶ του̃ μέλιτος θυμίαμα καὶ στακτὴν καὶ τερέμινθον καὶ κάρυα (Ⅲ)
- Igitur Israël pater eorum dixit ad eos : Si sic necesse est, facite quod vultis : sumite de optimis terræ fructibus in vasis vestris, et deferte viro munera, modicum resinæ, et mellis, et storacis, stactes, et terebinthi, et amygdalarum. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 11 ׃43  ויאמר אלהם ישראל אביהם אם כן אפוא זאת עשו קחו מזמרת הארץ בכליכם והורידו לאיש מנחה מעט צרי ומעט דבש נכאת ולט בטנים ושקדים ‬ (Ⅴ)
43. 12  
And take double money in your hand; and the money that was brought again in the mouth of your sacks, carry it again in your hand; peradventure it was an oversight:
- Prenez avec vous de l'argent au double, et remportez l'argent qu'on avait mis à l'entrée de vos sacs: peut-être était-ce une erreur. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ τὸ ἀργύριον δισσὸν λάβετε ἐν ται̃ς χερσὶν ὑμω̃ν τὸ ἀργύριον τὸ ἀποστραφὲν ἐν τοι̃ς μαρσίπποις ὑμω̃ν ἀποστρέψατε μεθ' ὑμω̃ν μήποτε ἀγνόημά ἐστιν (Ⅲ)
- Pecuniam quoque duplicem ferte vobiscum : et illam, quam invenistis in sacculis, reportate, ne forte errore factum sit : (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 12 ׃43  וכסף משנה קחו בידכם ואת הכסף המושב בפי אמתחתיכם תשיבו בידכם אולי משגה הוא ‬ (Ⅴ)
43. 13  
Take also your brother, and arise, go again unto the man:
- Prenez votre frère, et levez-vous; retournez vers cet homme. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ τὸν ἀδελφὸν ὑμω̃ν λάβετε καὶ ἀναστάντες κατάβητε πρὸς τὸν ἄνθρωπον (Ⅲ)
- sed et fratrem vestrum tollite, et ite ad virum. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 13 ׃43  ואת אחיכם קחו וקומו שובו אל האיש ‬ (Ⅴ)
43. 14  
And God Almighty give you mercy before the man, that he may send away your other brother, and Benjamin. If I be bereaved of my children, I am bereaved.
- Que le Dieu tout puissant vous fasse trouver grâce devant cet homme, et qu'il laisse revenir avec vous votre autre frère et Benjamin! Et moi, si je dois être privé de mes enfants, que j'en sois privé! (Ⅱ)
- ὁ δὲ θεός μου δώ̨η ὑμι̃ν χάριν ἐναντίον του̃ ἀνθρώπου καὶ ἀποστείλαι τὸν ἀδελφὸν ὑμω̃ν τὸν ἕνα καὶ τὸν Βενιαμιν ἐγὼ μὲν γάρ καθὰ ἠτέκνωμαι ἠτέκνωμαι (Ⅲ)
- Deus autem meus omnipotens faciat vobis eum placabilem : et remittat vobiscum fratrem vestrum quem tenet, et hunc Benjamin : ego autem quasi orbatus absque liberis ero.\ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 14 ׃43  ואל שדי יתן לכם רחמים לפני האיש ושלח לכם את אחיכם אחר ואת בנימין ואני כאשר שכלתי שכלתי ‬ (Ⅴ)
43. 15  
And the men took that present, and they took double money in their hand and Benjamin; and rose up, and went down to Egypt, and stood before Joseph.
- Ils prirent le présent; ils prirent avec eux de l'argent au double, ainsi que Benjamin; ils se levèrent, descendirent en Égypte, et se présentèrent devant Joseph. (Ⅱ)
- λαβόντες δὲ οἱ ἄνδρες τὰ δω̃ρα ταυ̃τα καὶ τὸ ἀργύριον διπλου̃ν ἔλαβον ἐν ται̃ς χερσὶν αὐτω̃ν καὶ τὸν Βενιαμιν καὶ ἀναστάντες κατέβησαν εἰς Αἴγυπτον καὶ ἔστησαν ἐναντίον Ιωσηφ (Ⅲ)
- Tulerunt ergo viri munera, et pecuniam duplicem, et Benjamin : descenderuntque in Ægyptum, et steterunt coram Joseph. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 15 ׃43  ויקחו האנשים את המנחה הזאת ומשנה כסף לקחו בידם ואת בנימן ויקמו וירדו מצרים ויעמדו לפני יוסף ‬ (Ⅴ)
43. 16  
And when Joseph saw Benjamin with them, he said to the ruler of his house, Bring these men home, and slay, and make ready; for these men shall dine with me at noon.
- Dès que Joseph vit avec eux Benjamin, il dit à son intendant: Fais entrer ces gens dans la maison, tue et apprête; car ces gens mangeront avec moi à midi. (Ⅱ)
- εἰ̃δεν δὲ Ιωσηφ αὐτοὺς καὶ τὸν Βενιαμιν τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτου̃ τὸν ὁμομήτριον καὶ εἰ̃πεν τω̨̃ ἐπὶ τη̃ς οἰκίας αὐτου̃ εἰσάγαγε τοὺς ἀνθρώπους εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν καὶ σφάξον θύματα καὶ ἑτοίμασον μετ' ἐμου̃ γὰρ φάγονται οἱ ἄνθρωποι ἄρτους τὴν μεσημβρίαν (Ⅲ)
- Quos cum ille vidisset et Benjamin simul, præcepit dispensatori domus suæ, dicens : Introduc viros domum, et occide victimas, et instrue convivium : quoniam mecum sunt comesturi meridie. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 16 ׃43  וירא יוסף אתם את בנימין ויאמר לאשר על ביתו הבא את האנשים הביתה וטבח טבח והכן כי אתי יאכלו האנשים בצהרים ‬ (Ⅴ)
43. 17  
And the man did as Joseph bade; and the man brought the men into Joseph's house.
- Cet homme fit ce que Joseph avait ordonné, et il conduisit ces gens dans la maison de Joseph. (Ⅱ)
- ἐποίησεν δὲ ὁ ἄνθρωπος καθὰ εἰ̃πεν Ιωσηφ καὶ εἰσήγαγεν τοὺς ἀνθρώπους εἰς τὸν οἰ̃κον Ιωσηφ (Ⅲ)
- Fecit ille quod sibi fuerat imperatum, et introduxit viros domum. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 17 ׃43  ויעש האיש כאשר אמר יוסף ויבא האיש את האנשים ביתה יוסף ‬ (Ⅴ)
43. 18  
And the men were afraid, because they were brought into Joseph's house; and they said, Because of the money that was returned in our sacks at the first time are we brought in; that he may seek occasion against us, and fall upon us, and take us for bondmen, and our asses.
- Ils eurent peur lorsqu'ils furent conduits à la maison de Joseph, et ils dirent: C'est à cause de l'argent remis l'autre fois dans nos sacs qu'on nous emmène; c'est pour se jeter sur nous, se précipiter sur nous; c'est pour nous prendre comme esclaves, et s'emparer de nos ânes. (Ⅱ)
- ἰδόντες δὲ οἱ ἄνθρωποι ὅτι εἰσήχθησαν εἰς τὸν οἰ̃κον Ιωσηφ εἰ̃παν διὰ τὸ ἀργύριον τὸ ἀποστραφὲν ἐν τοι̃ς μαρσίπποις ἡμω̃ν τὴν ἀρχὴν ἡμει̃ς εἰσαγόμεθα του̃ συκοφαντη̃σαι ἡμα̃ς καὶ ἐπιθέσθαι ἡμι̃ν του̃ λαβει̃ν ἡμα̃ς εἰς παι̃δας καὶ τοὺς ὄνους ἡμω̃ν (Ⅲ)
- Ibique exterriti, dixerunt mutuo : Propter pecuniam, quam retulimus prius in saccis nostris, introducti sumus : ut devolvat in nos calumniam, et violenter subjiciat servituti et nos, et asinos nostros. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 18 ׃43  וייראו האנשים כי הובאו בית יוסף ויאמרו על דבר הכסף השב באמתחתינו בתחלה אנחנו מובאים להתגלל עלינו ולהתנפל עלינו ולקחת אתנו לעבדים ואת חמרינו ‬ (Ⅴ)
43. 19  
And they came near to the steward of Joseph's house, and they communed with him at the door of the house,
- Ils s'approchèrent de l'intendant de la maison de Joseph, et lui adressèrent la parole, à l'entrée de la maison. (Ⅱ)
- προσελθόντες δὲ πρὸς τὸν ἄνθρωπον τὸν ἐπὶ του̃ οἴκου Ιωσηφ ἐλάλησαν αὐτω̨̃ ἐν τω̨̃ πυλω̃νι του̃ οἴκου (Ⅲ)
- Quam ob rem in ipsis foribus accedentes ad dispensatorem domus, (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 19 ׃43  ויגשו אל האיש אשר על בית יוסף וידברו אליו פתח הבית ‬ (Ⅴ)
43. 20  
And said, O sir, we came indeed down at the first time to buy food:
- Ils dirent: Pardon! mon seigneur, nous sommes déjà descendus une fois pour acheter des vivres. (Ⅱ)
- λέγοντες δεόμεθα κύριε κατέβημεν τὴν ἀρχὴν πρίασθαι βρώματα (Ⅲ)
- locuti sunt : Oramus, domine, ut audias nos. Jam ante descendimus ut emeremus escas : (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 20 ׃43  ויאמרו בי אדני ירד ירדנו בתחלה לשבר אכל ‬ (Ⅴ)
43. 21  
And it came to pass, when we came to the inn, that we opened our sacks, and, behold, every man's money was in the mouth of his sack, our money in full weight: and we have brought it again in our hand.
- Puis, quand nous arrivâmes, au lieu où nous devions passer la nuit, nous avons ouvert nos sacs; et voici, l'argent de chacun était à l'entrée de son sac, notre argent selon son poids: nous le rapportons avec nous. (Ⅱ)
- ἐγένετο δὲ ἡνίκα ἤλθομεν εἰς τὸ καταλυ̃σαι καὶ ἠνοίξαμεν τοὺς μαρσίππους ἡμω̃ν καὶ τόδε τὸ ἀργύριον ἑκάστου ἐν τω̨̃ μαρσίππω̨ αὐτου̃ τὸ ἀργύριον ἡμω̃ν ἐν σταθμω̨̃ ἀπεστρέψαμεν νυ̃ν ἐν ται̃ς χερσὶν ἡμω̃ν (Ⅲ)
- quibus emptis, cum venissemus ad diversorium, aperuimus saccos nostros, et invenimus pecuniam in ore saccorum : quam nunc eodem pondere reportavimus. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 21 ׃43  ויהי כי באנו אל המלון ונפתחה את אמתחתינו והנה כסף איש בפי אמתחתו כספנו במשקלו ונשב אתו בידנו ‬ (Ⅴ)
43. 22  
And other money have we brought down in our hands to buy food: we cannot tell who put our money in our sacks.
- Nous avons aussi apporté d'autre argent, pour acheter des vivres. Nous ne savons pas qui avait mis notre argent dans nos sacs. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἀργύριον ἕτερον ἠνέγκαμεν μεθ' ἑαυτω̃ν ἀγοράσαι βρώματα οὐκ οἴδαμεν τίς ἐνέβαλεν τὸ ἀργύριον εἰς τοὺς μαρσίππους ἡμω̃ν (Ⅲ)
- Sed et aliud attulimus argentum, ut emamus quæ nobis necessaria sunt : non est in nostra conscientia quis posuerit eam in marsupiis nostris. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 22 ׃43  וכסף אחר הורדנו בידנו לשבר אכל לא ידענו מי שם כספנו באמתחתינו ‬ (Ⅴ)
43. 23  
And he said, Peace be to you, fear not: your God, and the God of your father, hath given you treasure in your sacks: I had your money. And he brought Simeon out unto them.
- L'intendant répondit: Que la paix soit avec vous! Ne craignez rien. C'est votre Dieu, le Dieu de votre père, qui vous a donné un trésor dans vos sacs. Votre argent m'est parvenu. Et il leur amena Siméon. (Ⅱ)
- εἰ̃πεν δὲ αὐτοι̃ς ἵλεως ὑμι̃ν μὴ φοβει̃σθε ὁ θεὸς ὑμω̃ν καὶ ὁ θεὸς τω̃ν πατέρων ὑμω̃ν ἔδωκεν ὑμι̃ν θησαυροὺς ἐν τοι̃ς μαρσίπποις ὑμω̃ν τὸ δὲ ἀργύριον ὑμω̃ν εὐδοκιμου̃ν ἀπέχω καὶ ἐξήγαγεν πρὸς αὐτοὺς τὸν Συμεων (Ⅲ)
- At ille respondit : Pax vobiscum, nolite timere : Deus vester, et Deus patris vestri, dedit vobis thesauros in saccis vestris : nam pecuniam, quam dedistis mihi, probatam ego habeo. Eduxitque ad eos Simeon. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 23 ׃43  ויאמר שלום לכם אל תיראו אלהיכם ואלהי אביכם נתן לכם מטמון באמתחתיכם כספכם בא אלי ויוצא אלהם את שמעון ‬ (Ⅴ)
43. 24  
And the man brought the men into Joseph's house, and gave them water, and they washed their feet; and he gave their asses provender.
- Cet homme les fit entrer dans la maison de Joseph; il leur donna de l'eau et ils se lavèrent les pieds; il donna aussi du fourrage à leurs ânes. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἤνεγκεν ὕδωρ νίψαι τοὺς πόδας αὐτω̃ν καὶ ἔδωκεν χορτάσματα τοι̃ς ὄνοις αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ)
- Et introductis domum, attulit aquam, et laverunt pedes suos, deditque pabulum asinis eorum. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 24 ׃43  ויבא האיש את האנשים ביתה יוסף ויתן מים וירחצו רגליהם ויתן מספוא לחמריהם ‬ (Ⅴ)
43. 25  
And they made ready the present against Joseph came at noon: for they heard that they should eat bread there.
- Ils préparèrent leur présent, en attendant que Joseph vienne à midi; car on les avait informés qu'ils mangeraient chez lui. (Ⅱ)
- ἡτοίμασαν δὲ τὰ δω̃ρα ἕως του̃ ἐλθει̃ν Ιωσηφ μεσημβρίας ἤκουσαν γὰρ ὅτι ἐκει̃ μέλλει ἀριστα̃ν (Ⅲ)
- Illi vero parabant munera, donec ingrederetur Joseph meridie : audierant enim quod ibi comesturi essent panem. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 25 ׃43  ויכינו את המנחה עד בוא יוסף בצהרים כי שמעו כי שם יאכלו לחם ‬ (Ⅴ)
43. 26  
And when Joseph came home, they brought him the present which was in their hand into the house, and bowed themselves to him to the earth.
- Quand Joseph fut arrivé à la maison, ils lui offrirent le présent qu'ils avaient apporté, et ils se prosternèrent en terre devant lui. (Ⅱ)
- εἰση̃λθεν δὲ Ιωσηφ εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν καὶ προσήνεγκαν αὐτω̨̃ τὰ δω̃ρα ἃ εἰ̃χον ἐν ται̃ς χερσὶν αὐτω̃ν εἰς τὸν οἰ̃κον καὶ προσεκύνησαν αὐτω̨̃ ἐπὶ πρόσωπον ἐπὶ τὴν γη̃ν (Ⅲ)
- Igitur ingressus est Joseph domum suam, obtuleruntque ei munera, tenentes in manibus suis : et adoraverunt proni in terram. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 26 ׃43  ויבא יוסף הביתה ויביאו לו את המנחה אשר בידם הביתה וישתחוו לו ארצה ‬ (Ⅴ)
43. 27  
And he asked them of their welfare, and said, Is your father well, the old man of whom ye spake? Is he yet alive?
- Il leur demanda comment ils se portaient; et il dit: Votre vieux père, dont vous avez parlé, est-il en bonne santé? vit-il encore? (Ⅱ)
- ἠρώτησεν δὲ αὐτούς πω̃ς ἔχετε καὶ εἰ̃πεν αὐτοι̃ς εἰ ὑγιαίνει ὁ πατὴρ ὑμω̃ν ὁ πρεσβύτερος ὃν εἴπατε ἔτι ζη̨̃ (Ⅲ)
- At ille, clementer resalutatis eis, interrogavit eos, dicens : Salvusne est pater vester senex, de quo dixeratis mihi ? adhuc vivit ? (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 27 ׃43  וישאל להם לשלום ויאמר השלום אביכם הזקן אשר אמרתם העודנו חי ‬ (Ⅴ)
43. 28  
And they answered, Thy servant our father is in good health, he is yet alive. And they bowed down their heads, and made obeisance.
- Ils répondirent: Ton serviteur, notre père, est en bonne santé; il vit encore. Et ils s'inclinèrent et se prosternèrent. (Ⅱ)
- οἱ δὲ εἰ̃παν ὑγιαίνει ὁ παι̃ς σου ὁ πατὴρ ἡμω̃ν ἔτι ζη̨̃ καὶ εἰ̃πεν εὐλογητὸς ὁ ἄνθρωπος ἐκει̃νος τω̨̃ θεω̨̃ καὶ κύψαντες προσεκύνησαν αὐτω̨̃ (Ⅲ)
- Qui responderunt : Sospes est servus tuus pater noster, adhuc vivit. Et incurvati, adoraverunt eum. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 28 ׃43  ויאמרו שלום לעבדך לאבינו עודנו חי ויקדו *וישתחו **וישתחוו‪[1]‬ ‬ (Ⅴ)
43. 29  
And he lifted up his eyes, and saw his brother Benjamin, his mother's son, and said, Is this your younger brother, of whom ye spake unto me? And he said, God be gracious unto thee, my son.
- Joseph leva les yeux; et, jetant un regard sur Benjamin, son frère, fils de sa mère, il dit: Est-ce là votre jeune frère, dont vous m'avez parlé? Et il ajouta: Dieu te fasse miséricorde, mon fils! (Ⅱ)
- ἀναβλέψας δὲ τοι̃ς ὀφθαλμοι̃ς Ιωσηφ εἰ̃δεν Βενιαμιν τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτου̃ τὸν ὁμομήτριον καὶ εἰ̃πεν οὑ̃τος ὁ ἀδελφὸς ὑμω̃ν ὁ νεώτερος ὃν εἴπατε πρός με ἀγαγει̃ν καὶ εἰ̃πεν ὁ θεὸς ἐλεήσαι σε τέκνον (Ⅲ)
- Attollens autem Joseph oculos, vidit Benjamin fratrem suum uterinum, et ait : Iste est frater vester parvulus, de quo dixeratis mihi ? Et rursum : Deus, inquit, misereatur tui, fili mi. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 29 ׃43  וישא עיניו וירא את בנימין אחיו בן אמו ויאמר הזה אחיכם הקטן אשר אמרתם אלי ויאמר אלהים יחנך בני ‬ (Ⅴ)
43. 30  
And Joseph made haste; for his bowels did yearn upon his brother: and he sought where to weep; and he entered into his chamber, and wept there.
- Ses entrailles étaient émues pour son frère, et il avait besoin de pleurer; il entra précipitamment dans une chambre, et il y pleura. (Ⅱ)
- ἐταράχθη δὲ Ιωσηφ συνεστρέφετο γὰρ τὰ ἔντερα αὐτου̃ ἐπὶ τω̨̃ ἀδελφω̨̃ αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐζήτει κλαυ̃σαι εἰσελθὼν δὲ εἰς τὸ ταμιει̃ον ἔκλαυσεν ἐκει̃ (Ⅲ)
- Festinavitque, quia commota fuerant viscera ejus super fratre suo, et erumpebant lacrimæ : et introiens cubiculum flevit. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 30 ׃43  וימהר יוסף כי נכמרו רחמיו אל אחיו ויבקש לבכות ויבא החדרה ויבך שמה ‬ (Ⅴ)
43. 31  
And he washed his face, and went out, and refrained himself, and said, Set on bread.
- Après s'être lavé le visage, il en sortit; et, faisant des efforts pour se contenir, il dit: Servez à manger. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ νιψάμενος τὸ πρόσωπον ἐξελθὼν ἐνεκρατεύσατο καὶ εἰ̃πεν παράθετε ἄρτους (Ⅲ)
- Rursumque lota facie egressus, continuit se, et ait : Ponite panes. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 31 ׃43  וירחץ פניו ויצא ויתאפק ויאמר שימו לחם ‬ (Ⅴ)
43. 32  
And they set on for him by himself, and for them by themselves, and for the Egyptians, which did eat with him, by themselves: because the Egyptians might not eat bread with the Hebrews; for that is an abomination unto the Egyptians.
- On servit Joseph à part, et ses frères à part; les Égyptiens qui mangeaient avec lui furent aussi servis à part, car les Égyptiens ne pouvaient pas manger avec les Hébreux, parce que c'est à leurs yeux une abomination. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ παρέθηκαν αὐτω̨̃ μόνω̨ καὶ αὐτοι̃ς καθ' ἑαυτοὺς καὶ τοι̃ς Αἰγυπτίοις τοι̃ς συνδειπνου̃σιν μετ' αὐτου̃ καθ' ἑαυτούς οὐ γὰρ ἐδύναντο οἱ Αἰγύπτιοι συνεσθίειν μετὰ τω̃ν Εβραίων ἄρτους βδέλυγμα γάρ ἐστιν τοι̃ς Αἰγυπτίοις (Ⅲ)
- Quibus appositis, seorsum Joseph, et seorsum fratribus, Ægyptiis quoque qui vescebantur simul, seorsum (illicitum est enim Ægyptiis comedere cum Hebræis, et profanum putant hujuscemodi convivium) (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 32 ׃43  וישימו לו לבדו ולהם לבדם ולמצרים האכלים אתו לבדם כי לא יוכלון המצרים לאכל את העברים לחם כי תועבה הוא למצרים ‬ (Ⅴ)
43. 33  
And they sat before him, the firstborn according to his birthright, and the youngest according to his youth: and the men marveled one at another.
- Les frères de Joseph s'assirent en sa présence, le premier-né selon son droit d'aînesse, et le plus jeune selon son âge; et ils se regardaient les uns les autres avec étonnement. (Ⅱ)
- ἐκάθισαν δὲ ἐναντίον αὐτου̃ ὁ πρωτότοκος κατὰ τὰ πρεσβει̃α αὐτου̃ καὶ ὁ νεώτερος κατὰ τὴν νεότητα αὐτου̃ ἐξίσταντο δὲ οἱ ἄνθρωποι ἕκαστος πρὸς τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)
- sederunt coram eo, primogenitus juxta primogenita sua, et minimus juxta ætatem suam. Et mirabantur nimis, (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 33 ׃43  וישבו לפניו הבכר כבכרתו והצעיר כצערתו ויתמהו האנשים איש אל רעהו ‬ (Ⅴ)
43. 34  
And he took and sent messes unto them from before him: but Benjamin's mess was five times so much as any of theirs. And they drank, and were merry with him.
- Joseph leur fit porter des mets qui étaient devant lui, et Benjamin en eut cinq fois plus que les autres. Ils burent, et s'égayèrent avec lui. (Ⅱ)
- ἠ̃ραν δὲ μερίδας παρ' αὐτου̃ πρὸς αὐτούς ἐμεγαλύνθη δὲ ἡ μερὶς Βενιαμιν παρὰ τὰς μερίδας πάντων πενταπλασίως πρὸς τὰς ἐκείνων ἔπιον δὲ καὶ ἐμεθύσθησαν μετ' αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)
- sumptis partibus quas ab eo acceperant : majorque pars venit Benjamin, ita ut quinque partibus excederet. Biberuntque et inebriati sunt cum eo. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 34 ׃43  וישא משאת מאת פניו אלהם ותרב משאת בנימן ממשאת כלם חמש ידות וישתו וישכרו עמו ‬ (Ⅴ)
