48. 1

And it came to pass after these things, that one told Joseph, Behold, thy father is sick: and he took with him his two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim.

- Après ces choses, l'on vint dire à Joseph: Voici, ton père est malade. Et il prit avec lui ses deux fils, Manassé et Éphraïm. (Ⅱ)

- ἐγένετο δὲ μετὰ τὰ ῥήματα ταυ̃τα καὶ ἀπηγγέλη τω̨̃ Ιωσηφ ὅτι ὁ πατήρ σου ἐνοχλει̃ται καὶ ἀναλαβὼν τοὺς δύο υἱοὺς αὐτου̃ τὸν Μανασση καὶ τὸν Εφραιμ ἠ̃λθεν πρὸς Ιακωβ (Ⅲ)

- His ita transactis, nuntiatum est Joseph quod ægrotaret pater suus : qui, assumptis duobus filiis Manasse et Ephraim, ire perrexit. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 1 ׃48 ויהי אחרי הדברים האלה ויאמר ליוסף הנה אביך חלה ויקח את שני בניו עמו את מנשה ואת אפרים ‬ (Ⅴ)

48. 2

And one told Jacob, and said, Behold, thy son Joseph cometh unto thee: and Israel strengthened himself, and sat upon the bed.

- On avertit Jacob, et on lui dit: Voici ton fils Joseph qui vient vers toi. Et Israël rassembla ses forces, et s'assit sur son lit. (Ⅱ)

- ἀπηγγέλη δὲ τω̨̃ Ιακωβ λέγοντες ἰδοὺ ὁ υἱός σου Ιωσηφ ἔρχεται πρὸς σέ καὶ ἐνισχύσας Ισραηλ ἐκάθισεν ἐπὶ τὴν κλίνην (Ⅲ)

- Dictumque est seni : Ecce filius tuus Joseph venit ad te. Qui confortatus sedit in lectulo. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 2 ׃48 ויגד ליעקב ויאמר הנה בנך יוסף בא אליך ויתחזק ישראל וישב על המטה ‬ (Ⅴ)

48. 3

And Jacob said unto Joseph, God Almighty appeared unto me at Luz in the land of Canaan, and blessed me,

- Jacob dit à Joseph: Le Dieu tout puissant m'est apparu à Luz, dans le pays de Canaan, et il m'a béni. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ιακωβ τω̨̃ Ιωσηφ ὁ θεός μου ὤφθη μοι ἐν Λουζα ἐν γη̨̃ Χανααν καὶ εὐλόγησέν με (Ⅲ)

- Et ingresso ad se ait : Deus omnipotens apparuit mihi in Luza, quæ est in terra Chanaan : benedixitque mihi, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 3 ׃48 ויאמר יעקב אל יוסף אל שדי נראה אלי בלוז בארץ כנען ויברך אתי ‬ (Ⅴ)

48. 4

And said unto me, Behold, I will make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, and I will make of thee a multitude of people; and will give this land to thy seed after thee for an everlasting possession.

- Il m'a dit: Je te rendrai fécond, je te multiplierai, et je ferai de toi une multitude de peuples; je donnerai ce pays à ta postérité après toi, pour qu'elle le possède à toujours. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πέν μοι ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ αὐξανω̃ σε καὶ πληθυνω̃ σε καὶ ποιήσω σε εἰς συναγωγὰς ἐθνω̃ν καὶ δώσω σοι τὴν γη̃ν ταύτην καὶ τω̨̃ σπέρματί σου μετὰ σὲ εἰς κατάσχεσιν αἰώνιον (Ⅲ)

- et ait : Ego te augebo et multiplicabo, et faciam te in turbas populorum : daboque tibi terram hanc, et semini tuo post te in possessionem sempiternam. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 4 ׃48 ויאמר אלי הנני מפרך והרביתך ונתתיך לקהל עמים ונתתי את הארץ הזאת לזרעך אחריך אחזת עולם ‬ (Ⅴ)

48. 5

And now thy two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, which were born unto thee in the land of Egypt before I came unto thee into Egypt, are mine; as Reuben and Simeon, they shall be mine.

- Maintenant, les deux fils qui te sont nés au pays d'Égypte, avant mon arrivée vers toi en Égypte, seront à moi; Éphraïm et Manassé seront à moi, comme Ruben et Siméon. (Ⅱ)

- νυ̃ν οὐ̃ν οἱ δύο υἱοί σου οἱ γενόμενοί σοι ἐν Αἰγύπτω̨ πρὸ του̃ με ἐλθει̃ν πρὸς σὲ εἰς Αἴγυπτον ἐμοί εἰσιν Εφραιμ καὶ Μανασση ὡς Ρουβην καὶ Συμεων ἔσονταί μοι (Ⅲ)

- Duo ergo filii tui, qui nati sunt tibi in terra Ægypti antequam huc venirem ad te, mei erunt : Ephraim et Manasses, sicut Ruben et Simeon reputabuntur mihi. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 5 ׃48 ועתה שני בניך הנולדים לך בארץ מצרים עד באי אליך מצרימה לי הם אפרים ומנשה כראובן ושמעון יהיו לי ‬ (Ⅴ)

48. 6

And thy issue, which thou begettest after them, shall be thine, and shall be called after the name of their brethren in their inheritance.

- Mais les enfants que tu as engendrés après eux seront à toi; ils seront appelés du nom de leurs frères dans leur héritage. (Ⅱ)

- τὰ δὲ ἔκγονα ἃ ἐὰν γεννήση̨ς μετὰ ταυ̃τα σοὶ ἔσονται ἐπὶ τω̨̃ ὀνόματι τω̃ν ἀδελφω̃ν αὐτω̃ν κληθήσονται ἐν τοι̃ς ἐκείνων κλήροις (Ⅲ)

- Reliquos autem quos genueris post eos, tui erunt, et nomine fratrum suorum vocabuntur in possessionibus suis. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 6 ׃48 ומולדתך אשר הולדת אחריהם לך יהיו על שם אחיהם יקראו בנחלתם ‬ (Ⅴ)

48. 7

And as for me, when I came from Padan, Rachel died by me in the land of Canaan in the way, when yet there was but a little way to come unto Ephrath: and I buried her there in the way of Ephrath; the same is Bethlehem.

- A mon retour de Paddan, Rachel mourut en route auprès de moi, dans le pays de Canaan, à quelque distance d'Éphrata; et c'est là que je l'ai enterrée, sur le chemin d'Éphrata, qui est Bethléhem. (Ⅱ)

- ἐγὼ δὲ ἡνίκα ἠρχόμην ἐκ Μεσοποταμίας τη̃ς Συρίας ἀπέθανεν Ραχηλ ἡ μήτηρ σου ἐν γη̨̃ Χανααν ἐγγίζοντός μου κατὰ τὸν ἱππόδρομον χαβραθα τη̃ς γη̃ς του̃ ἐλθει̃ν Εφραθα καὶ κατώρυξα αὐτὴν ἐν τη̨̃ ὁδω̨̃ του̃ ἱπποδρόμου αὕτη ἐστὶν Βαιθλεεμ (Ⅲ)

- Mihi enim, quando veniebam de Mesopotamia, mortua est Rachel in terra Chanaan in ipso itinere, eratque vernum tempus : et ingrediebar Ephratam, et sepelivi eam juxta viam Ephratæ, quæ alio nomine appellatur Bethlehem. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 7 ׃48 ואני בבאי מפדן מתה עלי רחל בארץ כנען בדרך בעוד כברת ארץ לבא אפרתה ואקברה שם בדרך אפרת הוא בית לחם ‬ (Ⅴ)

48. 8

And Israel beheld Joseph's sons, and said, Who are these?

- Israël regarda les fils de Joseph, et dit: Qui sont ceux-ci? (Ⅱ)

- ἰδὼν δὲ Ισραηλ τοὺς υἱοὺς Ιωσηφ εἰ̃πεν τίνες σοι οὑ̃τοι (Ⅲ)

- Videns autem filios ejus dixit ad eum : Qui sunt isti ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 8 ׃48 וירא ישראל את בני יוסף ויאמר מי אלה ‬ (Ⅴ)

48. 9

And Joseph said unto his father, They are my sons, whom God hath given me in this place. And he said, Bring them, I pray thee, unto me, and I will bless them.

- Joseph répondit à son père: Ce sont mes fils, que Dieu m'a donnés ici. Israël dit: Fais-les, je te prie, approcher de moi, pour que je les bénisse. (Ⅱ)

- εἰ̃πεν δὲ Ιωσηφ τω̨̃ πατρὶ αὐτου̃ υἱοί μού εἰσιν οὓς ἔδωκέν μοι ὁ θεὸς ἐνταυ̃θα καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ιακωβ προσάγαγέ μοι αὐτούς ἵνα εὐλογήσω αὐτούς (Ⅲ)

- Respondit : Filii mei sunt, quos donavit mihi Deus in hoc loco. Adduc, inquit, eos ad me, ut benedicam illis. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 9 ׃48 ויאמר יוסף אל אביו בני הם אשר נתן לי אלהים בזה ויאמר קחם נא אלי ואברכם ‬ (Ⅴ)

48. 10

Now the eyes of Israel were dim for age, so that he could not see. And he brought them near unto him; and he kissed them, and embraced them.

- Les yeux d'Israël étaient appesantis par la vieillesse; il ne pouvait plus voir. Joseph les fit approcher de lui; et Israël leur donna un baiser, et les embrassa. (Ⅱ)

- οἱ δὲ ὀφθαλμοὶ Ισραηλ ἐβαρυώπησαν ἀπὸ του̃ γήρους καὶ οὐκ ἠδύνατο βλέπειν καὶ ἤγγισεν αὐτοὺς πρὸς αὐτόν καὶ ἐφίλησεν αὐτοὺς καὶ περιέλαβεν αὐτούς (Ⅲ)

- Oculi enim Israël caligabant præ nimia senectute, et clare videre non poterat. Applicitosque ad se, deosculatus et circumplexus eos, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 10 ׃48 ועיני ישראל כבדו מזקן לא יוכל לראות ויגש אתם אליו וישק להם ויחבק להם ‬ (Ⅴ)

48. 11

And Israel said unto Joseph, I had not thought to see thy face: and, lo, God hath showed me also thy seed.

- Israël dit à Joseph: Je ne pensais pas revoir ton visage, et voici que Dieu me fait voir même ta postérité. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ισραηλ πρὸς Ιωσηφ ἰδοὺ του̃ προσώπου σου οὐκ ἐστερήθην καὶ ἰδοὺ ἔδειξέν μοι ὁ θεὸς καὶ τὸ σπέρμα σου (Ⅲ)

- dixit ad filium suum : Non sum fraudatus aspectu tuo : insuper ostendit mihi Deus semen tuum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 11 ׃48 ויאמר ישראל אל יוסף ראה פניך לא פללתי והנה הראה אתי אלהים גם את זרעך ‬ (Ⅴ)

48. 12

And Joseph brought them out from between his knees, and he bowed himself with his face to the earth.

- Joseph les retira des genoux de son père, et il se prosterna en terre devant lui. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐξήγαγεν Ιωσηφ αὐτοὺς ἀπὸ τω̃ν γονάτων αὐτου̃ καὶ προσεκύνησαν αὐτω̨̃ ἐπὶ πρόσωπον ἐπὶ τη̃ς γη̃ς (Ⅲ)

- Cumque tulisset eos Joseph de gremio patris, adoravit pronus in terram. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 12 ׃48 ויוצא יוסף אתם מעם ברכיו וישתחו לאפיו ארצה ‬ (Ⅴ)

48. 13

And Joseph took them both, Ephraim in his right hand toward Israel's left hand, and Manasseh in his left hand toward Israel's right hand, and brought them near unto him.

- Puis Joseph les prit tous deux, Éphraïm de sa main droite à la gauche d'Israël, et Manassé de sa main gauche à la droite d'Israël, et il les fit approcher de lui. (Ⅱ)

- λαβὼν δὲ Ιωσηφ τοὺς δύο υἱοὺς αὐτου̃ τόν τε Εφραιμ ἐν τη̨̃ δεξια̨̃ ἐξ ἀριστερω̃ν δὲ Ισραηλ τὸν δὲ Μανασση ἐν τη̨̃ ἀριστερα̨̃ ἐκ δεξιω̃ν δὲ Ισραηλ ἤγγισεν αὐτοὺς αὐτω̨̃ (Ⅲ)

- Et posuit Ephraim ad dexteram suam, id est, ad sinistram Israël : Manassen vero in sinistra sua, ad dexteram scilicet patris, applicuitque ambos ad eum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 13 ׃48 ויקח יוסף את שניהם את אפרים בימינו משמאל ישראל ואת מנשה בשמאלו מימין ישראל ויגש אליו ‬ (Ⅴ)

48. 14

And Israel stretched out his right hand, and laid it upon Ephraim's head, who was the younger, and his left hand upon Manasseh's head, guiding his hands wittingly; for Manasseh was the firstborn.

- Israël étendit sa main droite et la posa sur la tête d'Éphraïm qui était le plus jeune, et il posa sa main gauche sur la tête de Manassé: ce fut avec intention qu'il posa ses mains ainsi, car Manassé était le premier-né. (Ⅱ)

- ἐκτείνας δὲ Ισραηλ τὴν χει̃ρα τὴν δεξιὰν ἐπέβαλεν ἐπὶ τὴν κεφαλὴν Εφραιμ οὑ̃τος δὲ ἠ̃ν ὁ νεώτερος καὶ τὴν ἀριστερὰν ἐπὶ τὴν κεφαλὴν Μανασση ἐναλλὰξ τὰς χει̃ρας (Ⅲ)

- Qui extendens manum dexteram, posuit super caput Ephraim minoris fratris : sinistram autem super caput Manasse qui major natu erat, commutans manus. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 14 ׃48 וישלח ישראל את ימינו וישת על ראש אפרים והוא הצעיר ואת שמאלו על ראש מנשה שכל את ידיו כי מנשה הבכור ‬ (Ⅴ)

48. 15

And he blessed Joseph, and said, God, before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac did walk, the God which fed me all my life long unto this day,

- Il bénit Joseph, et dit: Que le Dieu en présence duquel ont marché mes pères, Abraham et Isaac, que le Dieu qui m'a conduit depuis que j'existe jusqu'à ce jour, (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ηὐλόγησεν αὐτοὺς καὶ εἰ̃πεν ὁ θεός ὡ̨̃ εὐηρέστησαν οἱ πατέρες μου ἐναντίον αὐτου̃ Αβρααμ καὶ Ισαακ ὁ θεὸς ὁ τρέφων με ἐκ νεότητος ἕως τη̃ς ἡμέρας ταύτης (Ⅲ)

- Benedixitque Jacob filiis Joseph, et ait : Deus, in cujus conspectu ambulaverunt patres mei Abraham, et Isaac ; Deus qui pascit me ab adolescentia mea usque in præsentem diem : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 15 ׃48 ויברך את יוסף ויאמר האלהים אשר התהלכו אבתי לפניו אברהם ויצחק האלהים הרעה אתי מעודי עד היום הזה ‬ (Ⅴ)

48. 16

The Angel which redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.

- que l'ange qui m'a délivré de tout mal, bénisse ces enfants! Qu'ils soient appelés de mon nom et du nom de mes pères, Abraham et Isaac, et qu'ils multiplient en abondance au milieu du pays! (Ⅱ)

- ὁ ἄγγελος ὁ ῥυόμενός με ἐκ πάντων τω̃ν κακω̃ν εὐλογήσαι τὰ παιδία ταυ̃τα καὶ ἐπικληθήσεται ἐν αὐτοι̃ς τὸ ὄνομά μου καὶ τὸ ὄνομα τω̃ν πατέρων μου Αβρααμ καὶ Ισαακ καὶ πληθυνθείησαν εἰς πλη̃θος πολὺ ἐπὶ τη̃ς γη̃ς (Ⅲ)

- angelus, qui eruit me de cunctis malis, benedicat pueris istis : et invocetur super eos nomen meum, nomina quoque patrum meorum Abraham et Isaac, et crescant in multitudinem super terram. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 16 ׃48 המלאך הגאל אתי מכל רע יברך את הנערים ויקרא בהם שמי ושם אבתי אברהם ויצחק וידגו לרב בקרב הארץ ‬ (Ⅴ)

48. 17

And when Joseph saw that his father laid his right hand upon the head of Ephraim, it displeased him: and he held up his father's hand, to remove it from Ephraim's head unto Manasseh's head.

- Joseph vit avec déplaisir que son père posait sa main droite sur la tête d'Éphraïm; il saisit la main de son père, pour la détourner de dessus la tête d'Éphraïm, et la diriger sur celle de Manassé. (Ⅱ)

- ἰδὼν δὲ Ιωσηφ ὅτι ἐπέβαλεν ὁ πατὴρ τὴν δεξιὰν αὐτου̃ ἐπὶ τὴν κεφαλὴν Εφραιμ βαρὺ αὐτω̨̃ κατεφάνη καὶ ἀντελάβετο Ιωσηφ τη̃ς χειρὸς του̃ πατρὸς αὐτου̃ ἀφελει̃ν αὐτὴν ἀπὸ τη̃ς κεφαλη̃ς Εφραιμ ἐπὶ τὴν κεφαλὴν Μανασση (Ⅲ)

- Videns autem Joseph quod posuisset pater suus dexteram manum super caput Ephraim, graviter accepit : et apprehensam manum patris levare conatus est de capite Ephraim, et transferre super caput Manasse. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 17 ׃48 וירא יוסף כי ישית אביו יד ימינו על ראש אפרים וירע בעיניו ויתמך יד אביו להסיר אתה מעל ראש אפרים על ראש מנשה ‬ (Ⅴ)

48. 18

And Joseph said unto his father, Not so, my father: for this is the firstborn; put thy right hand upon his head.

- Et Joseph dit à son père: Pas ainsi, mon père, car celui-ci est le premier-né; pose ta main droite sur sa tête. (Ⅱ)

- εἰ̃πεν δὲ Ιωσηφ τω̨̃ πατρὶ αὐτου̃ οὐχ οὕτως πάτερ οὑ̃τος γὰρ ὁ πρωτότοκος ἐπίθες τὴν δεξιάν σου ἐπὶ τὴν κεφαλὴν αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Dixitque ad patrem : Non ita convenit, pater : quia hic est primogenitus, pone dexteram tuam super caput ejus. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 18 ׃48 ויאמר יוסף אל אביו לא כן אבי כי זה הבכר שים ימינך על ראשו ‬ (Ⅴ)

48. 19

And his father refused, and said, I know it, my son, I know it: he also shall become a people, and he also shall be great: but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a multitude of nations.

- Son père refusa, et dit: Je le sais, mon fils, je le sais; lui aussi deviendra un peuple, lui aussi sera grand; mais son frère cadet sera plus grand que lui, et sa postérité deviendra une multitude de nations. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ οὐκ ἠθέλησεν ἀλλὰ εἰ̃πεν οἰ̃δα τέκνον οἰ̃δα καὶ οὑ̃τος ἔσται εἰς λαόν καὶ οὑ̃τος ὑψωθήσεται ἀλλὰ ὁ ἀδελφὸς αὐτου̃ ὁ νεώτερος μείζων αὐτου̃ ἔσται καὶ τὸ σπέρμα αὐτου̃ ἔσται εἰς πλη̃θος ἐθνω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Qui renuens, ait : Scio, fili mi, scio : et iste quidem erit in populos, et multiplicabitur : sed frater ejus minor, major erit illo : et semen illius crescet in gentes. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 19 ׃48 וימאן אביו ויאמר ידעתי בני ידעתי גם הוא יהיה לעם וגם הוא יגדל ואולם אחיו הקטן יגדל ממנו וזרעו יהיה מלא הגוים ‬ (Ⅴ)

48. 20

And he blessed them that day, saying, In thee shall Israel bless, saying, God make thee as Ephraim and as Manasseh: and he set Ephraim before Manasseh.

- Il les bénit ce jour-là, et dit: C'est par toi qu'Israël bénira, en disant: Que Dieu te traite comme Éphraïm et comme Manassé! Et il mit Éphraïm avant Manassé. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εὐλόγησεν αὐτοὺς ἐν τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ ἐκείνη̨ λέγων ἐν ὑμι̃ν εὐλογηθήσεται Ισραηλ λέγοντες ποιήσαι σε ὁ θεὸς ὡς Εφραιμ καὶ ὡς Μανασση καὶ ἔθηκεν τὸν Εφραιμ ἔμπροσθεν του̃ Μανασση (Ⅲ)

- Benedixitque eis in tempore illo, dicens : In te benedicetur Israël, atque dicetur : Faciat tibi Deus sicut Ephraim, et sicut Manasse. Constituitque Ephraim ante Manassen. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 20 ׃48 ויברכם ביום ההוא לאמור בך יברך ישראל לאמר ישמך אלהים כאפרים וכמנשה וישם את אפרים לפני מנשה ‬ (Ⅴ)

48. 21

And Israel said unto Joseph, Behold, I die: but God shall be with you, and bring you again unto the land of your fathers.

- Israël dit à Joseph: Voici, je vais mourir! Mais Dieu sera avec vous, et il vous fera retourner dans le pays de vos pères. (Ⅱ)

- εἰ̃πεν δὲ Ισραηλ τω̨̃ Ιωσηφ ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἀποθνή̨σκω καὶ ἔσται ὁ θεὸς μεθ' ὑμω̃ν καὶ ἀποστρέψει ὑμα̃ς εἰς τὴν γη̃ν τω̃ν πατέρων ὑμω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Et ait ad Joseph filium suum : En ego morior, et erit Deus vobiscum, reducetque vos ad terram patrum vestrorum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 21 ׃48 ויאמר ישראל אל יוסף הנה אנכי מת והיה אלהים עמכם והשיב אתכם אל ארץ אבתיכם ‬ (Ⅴ)

48. 22

Moreover I have given to thee one portion above thy brethren, which I took out of the hand of the Amorite with my sword and with my bow.

- Je te donne, de plus qu'à tes frères, une part que j'ai prise de la main des Amoréens avec mon épée et avec mon arc. (Ⅱ)

- ἐγὼ δὲ δίδωμί σοι Σικιμα ἐξαίρετον ὑπὲρ τοὺς ἀδελφούς σου ἣν ἔλαβον ἐκ χειρὸς Αμορραίων ἐν μαχαίρα̨ μου καὶ τόξω̨ (Ⅲ)

- Do tibi partem unam extra fratres tuos, quam tuli de manu Amorrhæi in gladio et arcu meo. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 22 ׃48 ואני נתתי לך שכם אחד על אחיך אשר לקחתי מיד האמרי בחרבי ובקשתי פ‬ (Ⅴ)
