14. 1

Now Joab the son of Zeruiah perceived that the king's heart was toward Absalom.

- Joab, fils de Tseruja, s'aperçut que le coeur du roi était porté pour Absalom. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἔγνω Ιωαβ υἱὸς Σαρουιας ὅτι ἡ καρδία του̃ βασιλέως ἐπὶ Αβεσσαλωμ (Ⅲ)

- Intelligens autem Joab filius Sarviæ quod cor regis versum esset ad Absalom, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 1 ׃14 וידע יואב בן צריה כי לב המלך על אבשלום ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 2

And Joab sent to Tekoah, and fetched thence a wise woman, and said unto her, I pray thee, feign thyself to be a mourner, and put on now mourning apparel, and anoint not thyself with oil, but be as a woman that had a long time mourned for the dead:

- Il envoya chercher à Tekoa une femme habile, et il lui dit: Montre-toi désolée, et revêts des habits de deuil; ne t'oins pas d'huile, et sois comme une femme qui depuis longtemps pleure un mort. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀπέστειλεν Ιωαβ εἰς Θεκωε καὶ ἔλαβεν ἐκει̃θεν γυναι̃κα σοφὴν καὶ εἰ̃πεν πρὸς αὐτήν πένθησον δὴ καὶ ἔνδυσαι ἱμάτια πενθικὰ καὶ μὴ ἀλείψη̨ ἔλαιον καὶ ἔση̨ ὡς γυνὴ πενθου̃σα ἐπὶ τεθνηκότι του̃το ἡμέρας πολλὰς (Ⅲ)

- misit Thecuam, et tulit inde mulierem sapientem : dixitque ad eam : Lugere te simula, et induere veste lugubri, et ne ungaris oleo, ut sis quasi mulier jam plurimo tempore lugens mortuum : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 2 ׃14 וישלח יואב תקועה ויקח משם אשה חכמה ויאמר אליה התאבלי נא ולבשי נא בגדי אבל ואל תסוכי שמן והיית כאשה זה ימים רבים מתאבלת על מת ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 3

And come to the king, and speak on this manner unto him. So Joab put the words in her mouth.

- Tu iras ainsi vers le roi, et tu lui parleras de cette manière. Et Joab lui mit dans la bouche ce qu'elle devait dire. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐλεύση̨ πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα καὶ λαλήσεις πρὸς αὐτὸν κατὰ τὸ ῥη̃μα του̃το καὶ ἔθηκεν Ιωαβ τοὺς λόγους ἐν τω̨̃ στόματι αὐτη̃ς (Ⅲ)

- et ingredieris ad regem, et loqueris ad eum sermones hujuscemodi. Posuit autem Joab verba in ore ejus. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 3 ׃14 ובאת אל המלך ודברת אליו כדבר הזה וישם יואב את הדברים בפיה ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 4

And when the woman of Tekoah spake to the king, she fell on her face to the ground, and did obeisance, and said, Help, O king.

- La femme de Tekoa alla parler au roi. Elle tomba la face contre terre et se prosterna, et elle dit: O roi, sauve-moi! (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰση̃λθεν ἡ γυνὴ ἡ Θεκωι̃τις πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα καὶ ἔπεσεν ἐπὶ πρόσωπον αὐτη̃ς εἰς τὴν γη̃ν καὶ προσεκύνησεν αὐτω̨̃ καὶ εἰ̃πεν Σω̃σον βασιλευ̃ σω̃σον (Ⅲ)

- Itaque cum ingressa fuisset mulier Thecuitis ad regem, cecidit coram eo super terram, et adoravit, et dixit : Serva me, rex. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 4 ׃14 ותאמר האשה התקעית אל המלך ותפל על אפיה ארצה ותשתחו ותאמר הושעה המלך ס‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 5

And the king said unto her, What aileth thee? And she answered, I am indeed a widow woman, and mine husband is dead.

- Le roi lui dit: Qu'as-tu? Elle répondit: Oui, je suis veuve, mon mari est mort! (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν πρὸς αὐτὴν ὁ βασιλεύς τί ἐστίν σοι ἡ δὲ εἰ̃πεν καὶ μάλα γυνὴ χήρα ἐγώ εἰμι καὶ ἀπέθανεν ὁ ἀνήρ μου (Ⅲ)

- Et ait ad eam rex : Quid causæ habes ? Quæ respondit : Heu, mulier vidua ego sum : mortuus est enim vir meus. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 5 ׃14 ויאמר לה המלך מה לך ותאמר אבל אשה אלמנה אני וימת אישי ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 6

And thy handmaid had two sons, and they two strove together in the field, and there was none to part them, but the one smote the other, and slew him.

- Ta servante avait deux fils; il se sont tous deux querellés dans les champs, et il n'y avait personne pour les séparer; l'un a frappé l'autre, et l'a tué. (Ⅱ)

- καί γε τη̨̃ δούλη̨ σου δύο υἱοί καὶ ἐμαχέσαντο ἀμφότεροι ἐν τω̨̃ ἀγρω̨̃ καὶ οὐκ ἠ̃ν ὁ ἐξαιρούμενος ἀνὰ μέσον αὐτω̃ν καὶ ἔπαισεν ὁ εἱ̃ς τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐθανάτωσεν αὐτόν (Ⅲ)

- Et ancillæ tuæ erant duo filii : qui rixati sunt adversum se in agro, nullusque erat qui eos prohibere posset : et percussit alter alterum, et interfecit eum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 6 ׃14 ולשפחתך שני בנים וינצו שניהם בשדה ואין מציל ביניהם ויכו האחד את האחד וימת אתו ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 7

And, behold, the whole family is risen against thine handmaid, and they said, Deliver him that smote his brother, that we may kill him, for the life of his brother whom he slew; and we will destroy the heir also: and so they shall quench my coal which is left, and shall not leave to my husband neither name nor remainder upon the earth.

- Et voici, toute la famille s'est levée contre ta servante, en disant: Livre le meurtrier de son frère! Nous voulons le faire mourir, pour la vie de son frère qu'il a tué; nous voulons détruire même l'héritier! Ils éteindraient ainsi le tison qui me reste, pour ne laisser à mon mari ni nom ni survivant sur la face de la terre. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἰδοὺ ἐπανέστη ὅλη ἡ πατριὰ πρὸς τὴν δούλην σου καὶ εἰ̃παν δὸς τὸν παίσαντα τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτου̃ καὶ θανατώσομεν αὐτὸν ἀντὶ τη̃ς ψυχη̃ς του̃ ἀδελφου̃ αὐτου̃ οὑ̃ ἀπέκτεινεν καὶ ἐξαρου̃μεν καί γε τὸν κληρονόμον ὑμω̃ν καὶ σβέσουσιν τὸν ἄνθρακά μου τὸν καταλειφθέντα ὥστε μὴ θέσθαι τω̨̃ ἀνδρί μου κατάλειμμα καὶ ὄνομα ἐπὶ προσώπου τη̃ς γη̃ς (Ⅲ)

- Et ecce consurgens universa cognatio adversum ancillam tuam, dicit : Trade eum qui percussit fratrem suum, ut occidamus eum pro anima fratris sui quem interfecit, et deleamus hæredem : et quærunt extinguere scintillam meam quæ relicta est, ut non supersit viro meo nomen, et reliquiæ super terram. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 7 ׃14 והנה קמה כל המשפחה על שפחתך ויאמרו תני את מכה אחיו ונמתהו בנפש אחיו אשר הרג ונשמידה גם את היורש וכבו את גחלתי אשר נשארה לבלתי *שום **שים לאישי שם ושארית על פני האדמה פ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 8

And the king said unto the woman, Go to thine house, and I will give charge concerning thee.

- Le roi dit à la femme: Va dans ta maison. Je donnerai des ordres à ton sujet. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν ὁ βασιλεύς ὑγιαίνουσα βάδιζε εἰς τὸν οἰ̃κόν σου κἀγὼ ἐντελου̃μαι περὶ σου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Et ait rex ad mulierem : Vade in domum tuam, et ego jubebo pro te. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 8 ׃14 ויאמר המלך אל האשה לכי לביתך ואני אצוה עליך ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 9

And the woman of Tekoah said unto the king, My lord, O king, the iniquity be on me, and on my father's house: and the king and his throne be guiltless.

- La femme de Tekoa dit au roi: C'est sur moi, ô roi mon seigneur, et sur la maison de mon père, que le châtiment va tomber; le roi et son trône n'auront pas à en souffrir. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἡ γυνὴ ἡ Θεκωι̃τις πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα ἐπ' ἐμέ κύριέ μου βασιλευ̃ ἡ ἀνομία καὶ ἐπὶ τὸν οἰ̃κον του̃ πατρός μου καὶ ὁ βασιλεὺς καὶ ὁ θρόνος αὐτου̃ ἀθω̨̃ος (Ⅲ)

- Dixitque mulier Thecuitis ad regem : In me, domine mi rex, sit iniquitas, et in domum patris mei : rex autem et thronus ejus sit innocens. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 9 ׃14 ותאמר האשה התקועית אל המלך עלי אדני המלך העון ועל בית אבי והמלך וכסאו נקי ס‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 10

And the king said, Whoever saith ought unto thee, bring him to me, and he shall not touch thee any more.

- Le roi dit: Si quelqu'un parle contre toi, amène-le-moi, et il ne lui arrivera plus de te toucher. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν ὁ βασιλεύς τίς ὁ λαλω̃ν πρὸς σέ καὶ ἄξεις αὐτὸν πρὸς ἐμέ καὶ οὐ προσθήσει ἔτι ἅψασθαι αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Et ait rex : Qui contradixerit tibi, adduc eum ad me, et ultra non addet ut tangat te. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 10 ׃14 ויאמר המלך המדבר אליך והבאתו אלי ולא יסיף עוד לגעת בך ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 11

Then said she, I pray thee, let the king remember the LORD thy God, that thou wouldest not suffer the revengers of blood to destroy any more, lest they destroy my son. And he said, As the LORD liveth, there shall not one hair of thy son fall to the earth.

- Elle dit: Que le roi se souvienne de l'Éternel, ton Dieu, afin que le vengeur du sang n'augmente pas la ruine, et qu'on ne détruise pas mon fils! Et il dit: L'Éternel est vivant! il ne tombera pas à terre un cheveu de ton fils. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν μνημονευσάτω δὴ ὁ βασιλεὺς τὸν κύριον θεὸν αὐτου̃ πληθυνθη̃ναι ἀγχιστέα του̃ αἵματος του̃ διαφθει̃ραι καὶ οὐ μὴ ἐξάρωσιν τὸν υἱόν μου καὶ εἰ̃πεν ζη̨̃ κύριος εἰ πεσει̃ται ἀπὸ τη̃ς τριχὸς του̃ υἱου̃ σου ἐπὶ τὴν γη̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Quæ ait : Recordetur rex Domini Dei sui, ut non multiplicentur proximi sanguinis ad ulciscendum, et nequaquam interficiant filium meum. Qui ait : Vivit Dominus, quia non cadet de capillis filii tui super terram. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 11 ׃14 ותאמר יזכר נא המלך את יהוה אלהיך *מהרבית **מהרבת גאל הדם לשחת ולא ישמידו את בני ויאמר חי יהוה אם יפל משערת בנך ארצה ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 12

Then the woman said, Let thine handmaid, I pray thee, speak one word unto my lord the king. And he said, Say on.

- La femme dit: Permets que ta servante dise un mot à mon seigneur le roi. Et il dit: Parle! (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἡ γυνή λαλησάτω δὴ ἡ δούλη σου πρὸς τὸν κύριόν μου τὸν βασιλέα ῥη̃μα καὶ εἰ̃πεν λάλησον (Ⅲ)

- Dixit ergo mulier : Loquatur ancilla tua ad dominum meum regem verbum. Et ait : Loquere. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 12 ׃14 ותאמר האשה תדבר נא שפחתך אל אדני המלך דבר ויאמר דברי ס‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 13

And the woman said, Wherefore then hast thou thought such a thing against the people of God? for the king doth speak this thing as one which is faulty, in that the king doth not fetch home again his banished.

- La femme dit: Pourquoi penses-tu de la sorte à l'égard du peuple de Dieu, puisqu'il résulte des paroles mêmes du roi que le roi est comme coupable en ne rappelant pas celui qu'il a proscrit? (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἡ γυνή ἵνα τί ἐλογίσω τοιου̃το ἐπὶ λαὸν θεου̃ ἠ̃ ἐκ στόματος του̃ βασιλέως ὁ λόγος οὑ̃τος ὡς πλημμέλεια του̃ μὴ ἐπιστρέψαι τὸν βασιλέα τὸν ἐξωσμένον αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Dixitque mulier : Quare cogitasti hujuscemodi rem contra populum Dei, et locutus est rex verbum istud, ut peccet, et non reducat ejectum suum ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 13 ׃14 ותאמר האשה ולמה חשבתה כזאת על עם אלהים ומדבר המלך הדבר הזה כאשם לבלתי השיב המלך את נדחו ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 14

For we must needs die, and are as water spilt on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again; neither doth God respect any person: yet doth he devise means, that his banished be not expelled from him.

- Il nous faut certainement mourir, et nous serons comme des eaux répandues à terre et qui ne se rassemblent plus; Dieu n'ôte pas la vie, mais il désire que le fugitif ne reste pas banni de sa présence. (Ⅱ)

- ὅτι θανάτω̨ ἀποθανούμεθα καὶ ὥσπερ τὸ ὕδωρ τὸ καταφερόμενον ἐπὶ τη̃ς γη̃ς ὃ οὐ συναχθήσεται καὶ λήμψεται ὁ θεὸς ψυχήν καὶ λογιζόμενος του̃ ἐξω̃σαι ἀπ' αὐτου̃ ἐξωσμένον (Ⅲ)

- Omnes morimur, et quasi aquæ dilabimur in terram, quæ non revertuntur : nec vult Deus perire animam, sed retractat cogitans ne penitus pereat qui abjectus est. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 14 ׃14 כי מות נמות וכמים הנגרים ארצה אשר לא יאספו ולא ישא אלהים נפש וחשב מחשבות לבלתי ידח ממנו נדח ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 15

Now therefore that I am come to speak of this thing unto my lord the king, it is because the people have made me afraid: and thy handmaid said, I will now speak unto the king; it may be that the king will perform the request of his handmaid.

- Maintenant, si je suis venu dire ces choses au roi mon seigneur, c'est que le peuple m'a effrayée. Et ta servante a dit: Je veux parler au roi; peut-être le roi fera-t-il ce que dira sa servante. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ νυ̃ν ὃ ἠ̃λθον λαλη̃σαι πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα τὸν κύριόν μου τὸ ῥη̃μα του̃το ὅτι ὄψεταί με ὁ λαός καὶ ἐρει̃ ἡ δούλη σου λαλησάτω δὴ πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα εἴ πως ποιήσει ὁ βασιλεὺς τὸ ῥη̃μα τη̃ς δούλης αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Nunc igitur veni, ut loquar ad dominum meum regem verbum hoc, præsente populo. Et dixit ancilla tua : Loquar ad regem, si quomodo faciat rex verbum ancillæ suæ. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 15 ׃14 ועתה אשר באתי לדבר אל המלך אדני את הדבר הזה כי יראני העם ותאמר שפחתך אדברה נא אל המלך אולי יעשה המלך את דבר אמתו ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 16

For the king will hear, to deliver his handmaid out of the hand of the man that would destroy me and my son together out of the inheritance of God.

- Oui, le roi écoutera sa servante, pour la délivrer de la main de ceux qui cherchent à nous exterminer, moi et mon fils, de l'héritage de Dieu. (Ⅱ)

- ὅτι ἀκούσει ὁ βασιλεὺς ῥύσασθαι τὴν δούλην αὐτου̃ ἐκ χειρὸς του̃ ἀνδρὸς του̃ ζητου̃ντος ἐξα̃ραί με καὶ τὸν υἱόν μου ἀπὸ κληρονομίας θεου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Et audivit rex, ut liberaret ancillam suam de manu omnium qui volebant de hæreditate Dei delere me, et filium meum simul. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 16 ׃14 כי ישמע המלך להציל את אמתו מכף האיש להשמיד אתי ואת בני יחד מנחלת אלהים ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 17

Then thine handmaid said, The word of my lord the king shall now be comfortable: for as an angel of God, so is my lord the king to discern good and bad: therefore the LORD thy God will be with thee.

- Ta servante a dit: Que la parole de mon seigneur le roi me donne le repos. Car mon seigneur le roi est comme un ange de Dieu, prêt à entendre le bien et le mal. Et que l'Éternel, ton Dieu, soit avec toi! (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἡ γυνή εἴη δὴ ὁ λόγος του̃ κυρίου μου του̃ βασιλέως εἰς θυσίαν ὅτι καθὼς ἄγγελος θεου̃ οὕτως ὁ κύριός μου ὁ βασιλεὺς του̃ ἀκούειν τὸ ἀγαθὸν καὶ τὸ πονηρόν καὶ κύριος ὁ θεός σου ἔσται μετὰ σου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Dicat ergo ancilla tua, ut fiat verbum domini mei regis sicut sacrificium. Sicut enim angelus Dei, sic est dominus meus rex, ut nec benedictione, nec maledictione moveatur : unde et Dominus Deus tuus est tecum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 17 ׃14 ותאמר שפחתך יהיה נא דבר אדני המלך למנוחה כי כמלאך האלהים כן אדני המלך לשמע הטוב והרע ויהוה אלהיך יהי עמך פ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 18

Then the king answered and said unto the woman, Hide not from me, I pray thee, the thing that I shall ask thee. And the woman said, Let my lord the king now speak.

- Le roi répondit, et dit à la femme: Ne me cache pas ce que je vais te demander. Et la femme dit: Que mon seigneur le roi parle! (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀπεκρίθη ὁ βασιλεὺς καὶ εἰ̃πεν πρὸς τὴν γυναι̃κα μὴ δὴ κρύψη̨ς ἀπ' ἐμου̃ ῥη̃μα ὃ ἐγὼ ἐπερωτω̃ σε καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἡ γυνή λαλησάτω δὴ ὁ κύριός μου ὁ βασιλεύς (Ⅲ)

- Et respondens rex, dixit ad mulierem : Ne abscondas a me verbum quod te interrogo. Dixitque ei mulier : Loquere, domine mi rex. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 18 ׃14 ויען המלך ויאמר אל האשה אל נא תכחדי ממני דבר אשר אנכי שאל אתך ותאמר האשה ידבר נא אדני המלך ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 19

And the king said, Is not the hand of Joab with thee in all this? And the woman answered and said, As thy soul liveth, my lord the king, none can turn to the right hand or to the left from ought that my lord the king hath spoken: for thy servant Joab, he bade me, and he put all these words in the mouth of thine handmaid:

- Le roi dit alors: La main de Joab n'est-elle pas avec toi dans tout ceci? Et la femme répondit: Aussi vrai que ton âme est vivante, ô roi mon seigneur, il n'y a rien à droite ni à gauche de tout ce que dit mon seigneur le roi. C'est, en effet, ton serviteur Joab qui m'a donné des ordres, et qui a mis dans la bouche de ta servante toutes ces paroles. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν ὁ βασιλεύς μὴ ἡ χεὶρ Ιωαβ ἐν παντὶ τούτω̨ μετὰ σου̃ καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἡ γυνὴ τω̨̃ βασιλει̃ ζη̨̃ ἡ ψυχή σου κύριέ μου βασιλευ̃ εἰ ἔστιν εἰς τὰ δεξιὰ ἢ εἰς τὰ ἀριστερὰ ἐκ πάντων ὡ̃ν ἐλάλησεν ὁ κύριός μου ὁ βασιλεύς ὅτι ὁ δου̃λός σου Ιωαβ αὐτὸς ἐνετείλατό μοι καὶ αὐτὸς ἔθετο ἐν τω̨̃ στόματι τη̃ς δούλης σου πάντας τοὺς λόγους τούτους (Ⅲ)

- Et ait rex : Numquid manus Joab tecum est in omnibus istis ? Respondit mulier, et ait : Per salutem animæ tuæ, domine mi rex, nec ad sinistram, nec ad dexteram est ex omnibus his quæ locutus est dominus meus rex : servus enim tuus Joab, ipse præcepit mihi, et ipse posuit in os ancillæ tuæ omnia verba hæc. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 19 ׃14 ויאמר המלך היד יואב אתך בכל זאת ותען האשה ותאמר חי נפשך אדני המלך אם אש להמין ולהשמיל מכל אשר דבר אדני המלך כי עבדך יואב הוא צוני והוא שם בפי שפחתך את כל הדברים האלה ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 20

To fetch about this form of speech hath thy servant Joab done this thing: and my lord is wise, according to the wisdom of an angel of God, to know all things that are in the earth.

- C'est pour donner à la chose une autre tournure que ton serviteur Joab a fait cela. Mais mon seigneur est aussi sage qu'un ange de Dieu, pour connaître tout ce qui se passe sur la terre. (Ⅱ)

- ἕνεκεν του̃ περιελθει̃ν τὸ πρόσωπον του̃ ῥήματος τούτου ἐποίησεν ὁ δου̃λός σου Ιωαβ τὸν λόγον του̃τον καὶ ὁ κύριός μου σοφὸς καθὼς σοφία ἀγγέλου του̃ θεου̃ του̃ γνω̃ναι πάντα τὰ ἐν τη̨̃ γη̨̃ (Ⅲ)

- Ut verterem figuram sermonis hujus, servus tuus Joab præcepit istud : tu autem, domine mi rex, sapiens es, sicut habet sapientiam angelus Dei, ut intelligas omnia super terram.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 20 ׃14 לבעבור סבב את פני הדבר עשה עבדך יואב את הדבר הזה ואדני חכם כחכמת מלאך האלהים לדעת את כל אשר בארץ ס‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 21

And the king said unto Joab, Behold now, I have done this thing: go therefore, bring the young man Absalom again.

- Le roi dit à Joab: Voici, je veux bien faire cela; va donc, ramène le jeune homme Absalom. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν ὁ βασιλεὺς πρὸς Ιωαβ ἰδοὺ δὴ ἐποίησά σοι κατὰ τὸν λόγον σου του̃τον πορεύου ἐπίστρεψον τὸ παιδάριον τὸν Αβεσσαλωμ (Ⅲ)

- Et ait rex ad Joab : Ecce placatus feci verbum tuum : vade ergo, et revoca puerum Absalom. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 21 ׃14 ויאמר המלך אל יואב הנה נא עשיתי את הדבר הזה ולך השב את הנער את אבשלום ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 22

And Joab fell to the ground on his face, and bowed himself, and thanked the king: and Joab said, To day thy servant knoweth that I have found grace in thy sight, my lord, O king, in that the king hath fulfilled the request of his servant.

- Joab tomba la face contre terre et se prosterna, et il bénit le roi. Puis il dit: Ton serviteur connaît aujourd'hui que j'ai trouvé grâce à tes yeux, ô roi mon seigneur, puisque le roi agit selon la parole de son serviteur. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἔπεσεν Ιωαβ ἐπὶ πρόσωπον αὐτου̃ ἐπὶ τὴν γη̃ν καὶ προσεκύνησεν καὶ εὐλόγησεν τὸν βασιλέα καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ιωαβ σήμερον ἔγνω ὁ δου̃λός σου ὅτι εὑ̃ρον χάριν ἐν ὀφθαλμοι̃ς σου κύριέ μου βασιλευ̃ ὅτι ἐποίησεν ὁ κύριός μου ὁ βασιλεὺς τὸν λόγον του̃ δούλου αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Cadensque Joab super faciem suam in terram, adoravit, et benedixit regi : et dixit Joab : Hodie intellexit servus tuus quia inveni gratiam in oculis tuis, domine mi rex : fecisti enim sermonem servi tui. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 22 ׃14 ויפל יואב אל פניו ארצה וישתחו ויברך את המלך ויאמר יואב היום ידע עבדך כי מצאתי חן בעיניך אדני המלך אשר עשה המלך את דבר *עבדו **עבדך ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 23

So Joab arose and went to Geshur, and brought Absalom to Jerusalem.

- Et Joab se leva et partit pour Gueschur, et il ramena Absalom à Jérusalem. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀνέστη Ιωαβ καὶ ἐπορεύθη εἰς Γεδσουρ καὶ ἤγαγεν τὸν Αβεσσαλωμ εἰς Ιερουσαλημ (Ⅲ)

- Surrexit ergo Joab et abiit in Gessur, et adduxit Absalom in Jerusalem. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 23 ׃14 ויקם יואב וילך גשורה ויבא את אבשלום ירושלם פ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 24

And the king said, Let him turn to his own house, and let him not see my face. So Absalom returned to his own house, and saw not the king's face.

- Mais le roi dit: Qu'il se retire dans sa maison, et qu'il ne voie point ma face. Et Absalom se retira dans sa maison, et il ne vit point la face du roi. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν ὁ βασιλεύς ἀποστραφήτω εἰς τὸν οἰ̃κον αὐτου̃ καὶ τὸ πρόσωπόν μου μὴ βλεπέτω καὶ ἀπέστρεψεν Αβεσσαλωμ εἰς τὸν οἰ̃κον αὐτου̃ καὶ τὸ πρόσωπον του̃ βασιλέως οὐκ εἰ̃δεν (Ⅲ)

- Dixit autem rex : Revertatur in domum suam, et faciem meam non videat. Reversus est itaque Absalom in domum suam, et faciem regis non vidit. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 24 ׃14 ויאמר המלך יסב אל ביתו ופני לא יראה ויסב אבשלום אל ביתו ופני המלך לא ראה ס‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 25

But in all Israel there was none to be so much praised as Absalom for his beauty: from the sole of his foot even to the crown of his head there was no blemish in him.

- Il n'y avait pas un homme dans tout Israël aussi renommé qu'Absalom pour sa beauté; depuis la plante du pied jusqu'au sommet de la tête, il n'y avait point en lui de défaut. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ὡς Αβεσσαλωμ οὐκ ἠ̃ν ἀνὴρ ἐν παντὶ Ισραηλ αἰνετὸς σφόδρα ἀπὸ ἴχνους ποδὸς αὐτου̃ καὶ ἕως κορυφη̃ς αὐτου̃ οὐκ ἠ̃ν ἐν αὐτω̨̃ μω̃μος (Ⅲ)

- Porro sicut Absalom, vir non erat pulcher in omni Israël, et decorus nimis : a vestigio pedis usque ad verticem non erat in eo ulla macula. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 25 ׃14 וכאבשלום לא היה איש יפה בכל ישראל להלל מאד מכף רגלו ועד קדקדו לא היה בו מום ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 26

And when he polled his head, (for it was at every year's end that he polled it: because the hair was heavy on him, therefore he polled it:) he weighed the hair of his head at two hundred shekels after the king's weight.

- Lorsqu'il se rasait la tête, -c'était chaque année qu'il se la rasait, parce que sa chevelure lui pesait, -le poids des cheveux de sa tête était de deux cents sicles, poids du roi. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐν τω̨̃ κείρεσθαι αὐτὸν τὴν κεφαλὴν αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐγένετο ἀπ' ἀρχη̃ς ἡμερω̃ν εἰς ἡμέρας ὡς ἂν ἐκείρετο ὅτι κατεβαρύνετο ἐπ' αὐτόν καὶ κειρόμενος αὐτὴν ἔστησεν τὴν τρίχα τη̃ς κεφαλη̃ς αὐτου̃ διακοσίους σίκλους ἐν τω̨̃ σίκλω̨ τω̨̃ βασιλικω̨̃ (Ⅲ)

- Et quando tondebat capillum (semel autem in anno tondebatur, quia gravabat eum cæsaries), ponderabat capillos capitis sui ducentis siclis, pondere publico. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 26 ׃14 ובגלחו את ראשו והיה מקץ‪[c]‬ ימים לימים אשר יגלח כי כבד עליו וגלחו ושקל את שער ראשו מאתים שקלים באבן המלך ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 27

And unto Absalom there were born three sons, and one daughter, whose name was Tamar: she was a woman of a fair countenance.

- Il naquit à Absalom trois fils, et une fille nommée Tamar, qui était une femme belle de figure. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐτέχθησαν τω̨̃ Αβεσσαλωμ τρει̃ς υἱοὶ καὶ θυγάτηρ μία καὶ ὄνομα αὐτη̨̃ Θημαρ αὕτη ἠ̃ν γυνὴ καλὴ σφόδρα καὶ γίνεται γυνὴ τω̨̃ Ροβοαμ υἱω̨̃ Σαλωμων καὶ τίκτει αὐτω̨̃ τὸν Αβια (Ⅲ)

- Nati sunt autem Absalom filii tres, et filia una nomine Thamar, elegantis formæ.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 27 ׃14 ויולדו לאבשלום שלושה בנים ובת אחת ושמה תמר היא היתה אשה יפת מראה פ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 28

So Absalom dwelt two full years in Jerusalem, and saw not the king's face.

- Absalom demeura deux ans à Jérusalem, sans voir la face du roi. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐκάθισεν Αβεσσαλωμ ἐν Ιερουσαλημ δύο ἔτη ἡμερω̃ν καὶ τὸ πρόσωπον του̃ βασιλέως οὐκ εἰ̃δεν (Ⅲ)

- Mansitque Absalom in Jerusalem duobus annis, et faciem regis non vidit. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 28 ׃14 וישב אבשלום בירושלם שנתים ימים ופני המלך לא ראה ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 29

Therefore Absalom sent for Joab, to have sent him to the king; but he would not come to him: and when he sent again the second time, he would not come.

- Il fit demander Joab, pour l'envoyer vers le roi; mais Joab ne voulut point venir auprès de lui. Il le fit demander une seconde fois; et Joab ne voulut point venir. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀπέστειλεν Αβεσσαλωμ πρὸς Ιωαβ του̃ ἀποστει̃λαι αὐτὸν πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα καὶ οὐκ ἠθέλησεν ἐλθει̃ν πρὸς αὐτόν καὶ ἀπέστειλεν ἐκ δευτέρου πρὸς αὐτόν καὶ οὐκ ἠθέλησεν παραγενέσθαι (Ⅲ)

- Misit itaque ad Joab, ut mitteret eum ad regem : qui noluit venire ad eum. Cumque secundo misisset, et ille noluisset venire ad eum, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 29 ׃14 וישלח אבשלום אל יואב לשלח אתו אל המלך ולא אבה לבוא אליו וישלח עוד שנית ולא אבה לבוא ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 30

Therefore he said unto his servants, See, Joab's field is near mine, and he hath barley there; go and set it on fire. And Absalom's servants set the field on fire.

- Absalom dit alors à ses serviteurs: Voyez, le champ de Joab est à côté du mien; il y a de l'orge; allez et mettez-y le feu. Et les serviteurs d'Absalom mirent le feu au champ. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Αβεσσαλωμ πρὸς τοὺς παι̃δας αὐτου̃ ἴδετε ἡ μερὶς ἐν ἀγρω̨̃ του̃ Ιωαβ ἐχόμενά μου καὶ αὐτω̨̃ κριθαὶ ἐκει̃ πορεύεσθε καὶ ἐμπρήσατε αὐτὴν ἐν πυρί καὶ ἐνέπρησαν αὐτὰς οἱ παι̃δες Αβεσσαλωμ καὶ παραγίνονται οἱ δου̃λοι Ιωαβ πρὸς αὐτὸν διερρηχότες τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτω̃ν καὶ εἰ̃παν ἐνεπύρισαν οἱ δου̃λοι Αβεσσαλωμ τὴν μερίδα ἐν πυρί (Ⅲ)

- dixit servis suis : Scitis agrum Joab juxta agrum meum, habentem messem hordei : ite igitur, et succendite eum igni. Succenderunt ergo servi Absalom segetem igni. Et venientes servi Joab, scissis vestibus suis, dixerunt : Succenderunt servi Absalom partem agri igni. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 30 ׃14 ויאמר אל עבדיו ראו חלקת יואב אל ידי ולו שם שערים לכו *והוצתיה **והציתוה באש ויצתו עבדי אבשלום את החלקה באש פ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 31

Then Joab arose, and came to Absalom unto his house, and said unto him, Wherefore have thy servants set my field on fire?

- Joab se leva et se rendit auprès d'Absalom, dans sa maison. Il lui dit: Pourquoi tes serviteurs ont-ils mis le feu au champ qui m'appartient? (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀνέστη Ιωαβ καὶ ἠ̃λθεν πρὸς Αβεσσαλωμ εἰς τὸν οἰ̃κον καὶ εἰ̃πεν πρὸς αὐτόν ἵνα τί οἱ παι̃δές σου ἐνεπύρισαν τὴν μερίδα τὴν ἐμὴν ἐν πυρί (Ⅲ)

- Surrexitque Joab, et venit ad Absalom in domum ejus, et dixit : Quare succenderunt servi tui segetem meam igni ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 31 ׃14 ויקם יואב ויבא אל אבשלום הביתה ויאמר אליו למה הציתו עבדך את החלקה אשר לי באש ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 32

And Absalom answered Joab, Behold, I sent unto thee, saying, Come hither, that I may send thee to the king, to say, Wherefore am I come from Geshur? it had been good for me to have been there still: now therefore let me see the king's face; and if there be any iniquity in me, let him kill me.

- Absalom répondit à Joab: Voici, je t'ai fait dire: Viens ici, et je t'enverrai vers le roi, afin que tu lui dises: Pourquoi suis-je revenu de Gueschur? Il vaudrait mieux pour moi que j'y fusse encore. Je désire maintenant voir la face du roi; et s'il y a quelque crime en moi, qu'il me fasse mourir. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Αβεσσαλωμ πρὸς Ιωαβ ἰδοὺ ἀπέστειλα πρὸς σὲ λέγων ἡ̃κε ὡ̃δε καὶ ἀποστελω̃ σε πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα λέγων ἵνα τί ἠ̃λθον ἐκ Γεδσουρ ἀγαθόν μοι ἠ̃ν του̃ ἔτι εἰ̃ναί με ἐκει̃ καὶ νυ̃ν ἰδοὺ τὸ πρόσωπον του̃ βασιλέως οὐκ εἰ̃δον εἰ δέ ἐστιν ἐν ἐμοὶ ἀδικία καὶ θανάτωσόν με (Ⅲ)

- Et respondit Absalom ad Joab : Misi ad te obsecrans ut venires ad me, et mitterem te ad regem, et diceres ei : Quare veni de Gessur ? melius mihi erat ibi esse : obsecro ergo ut videam faciem regis : quod si memor est iniquitatis meæ, interficiat me. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 32 ׃14 ויאמר אבשלום אל יואב הנה שלחתי אליך לאמר בא הנה ואשלחה אתך‪[c]‬ אל המלך לאמר למה באתי מגשור טוב לי עד אני שם ועתה אראה פני המלך ואם יש בי עון והמתני ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 33

So Joab came to the king, and told him: and when he had called for Absalom, he came to the king, and bowed himself on his face to the ground before the king: and the king kissed Absalom.

- Joab alla vers le roi, et lui rapporta cela. Et le roi appela Absalom, qui vint auprès de lui et se prosterna la face contre terre en sa présence. Le roi baisa Absalom. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰση̃λθεν Ιωαβ πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα καὶ ἀπήγγειλεν αὐτω̨̃ καὶ ἐκάλεσεν τὸν Αβεσσαλωμ καὶ εἰση̃λθεν πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα καὶ προσεκύνησεν αὐτω̨̃ καὶ ἔπεσεν ἐπὶ πρόσωπον αὐτου̃ ἐπὶ τὴν γη̃ν κατὰ πρόσωπον του̃ βασιλέως καὶ κατεφίλησεν ὁ βασιλεὺς τὸν Αβεσσαλωμ (Ⅲ)

- Ingressus itaque Joab ad regem, nuntiavit ei omnia : vocatusque est Absalom, et intravit ad regem, et adoravit super faciem terræ coram eo : osculatusque est rex Absalom. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 33 ׃14 ויבא יואב אל המלך ויגד לו ויקרא אל אבשלום ויבא אל המלך וישתחו לו על אפיו ארצה לפני המלך וישק המלך לאבשלום פ‬ (Ⅴ)
