17. 1

Moreover Ahithophel said unto Absalom, Let me now choose out twelve thousand men, and I will arise and pursue after David this night:

- Achitophel dit à Absalom: Laisse-moi choisir douze mille hommes! Je me lèverai, et je poursuivrai David cette nuit même. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Αχιτοφελ πρὸς Αβεσσαλωμ ἐπιλέξω δὴ ἐμαυτω̨̃ δώδεκα χιλιάδας ἀνδρω̃ν καὶ ἀναστήσομαι καὶ καταδιώξω ὀπίσω Δαυιδ τὴν νύκτα (Ⅲ)

- Dixit ergo Achitophel ad Absalom : Eligam mihi duodecim millia virorum, et consurgens persequar David hac nocte. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 1 ׃17 ויאמר אחיתפל אל אבשלם אבחרה נא שנים עשר אלף איש ואקומה וארדפה אחרי דוד הלילה ‬ (Ⅴ)

17. 2

And I will come upon him while he is weary and weak handed, and will make him afraid: and all the people that are with him shall flee; and I will smite the king only:

- Je le surprendrai pendant qu'il est fatigué et que ses mains sont affaiblies, je l'épouvanterai, et tout le peuple qui est avec lui s'enfuira. Je frapperai le roi seul, (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐπελεύσομαι ἐπ' αὐτόν καὶ αὐτὸς κοπιω̃ν καὶ ἐκλελυμένος χερσίν καὶ ἐκστήσω αὐτόν καὶ φεύξεται πα̃ς ὁ λαὸς ὁ μετ' αὐτου̃ καὶ πατάξω τὸν βασιλέα μονώτατον (Ⅲ)

- Et irruens super eum (quippe qui lassus est, et solutis manibus), percutiam eum : cumque fugerit omnis populus qui cum eo est, percutiam regem desolatum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 2 ׃17 ואבוא עליו והוא יגע ורפה ידים והחרדתי אתו ונס כל העם אשר אתו והכיתי את המלך לבדו ‬ (Ⅴ)

17. 3

And I will bring back all the people unto thee: the man whom thou seekest is as if all returned: so all the people shall be in peace.

- et je ramènerai à toi tout le peuple; la mort de l'homme à qui tu en veux assurera le retour de tous, et tout le peuple sera en paix. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐπιστρέψω πάντα τὸν λαὸν πρὸς σέ ὃν τρόπον ἐπιστρέφει ἡ νύμφη πρὸς τὸν ἄνδρα αὐτη̃ς πλὴν ψυχὴν ἑνὸς ἀνδρὸς σὺ ζητει̃ς καὶ παντὶ τω̨̃ λαω̨̃ ἔσται εἰρήνη (Ⅲ)

- Et reducam universum populum, quomodo unus homo reverti solet : unum enim virum tu quæris : et omnis populus erit in pace. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 3 ׃17 ואשיבה כל העם אליך כשוב הכל האיש אשר אתה מבקש כל העם יהיה שלום ‬ (Ⅴ)

17. 4

And the saying pleased Absalom well, and all the elders of Israel.

- Cette parole plut à Absalom et à tous les anciens d'Israël. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εὐθὴς ὁ λόγος ἐν ὀφθαλμοι̃ς Αβεσσαλωμ καὶ ἐν ὀφθαλμοι̃ς πάντων τω̃ν πρεσβυτέρων Ισραηλ (Ⅲ)

- Placuitque sermo ejus Absalom, et cunctis majoribus natu Israël. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 4 ׃17 ויישר הדבר בעיני אבשלם ובעיני כל זקני ישראל ס‬ (Ⅴ)

17. 5

Then said Absalom, Call now Hushai the Archite also, and let us hear likewise what he saith.

- Cependant Absalom dit: Appelez encore Huschaï, l'Arkien, et que nous entendions aussi ce qu'il dira. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Αβεσσαλωμ καλέσατε δὴ καί γε τὸν Χουσι τὸν Αραχι καὶ ἀκούσωμεν τί ἐν τω̨̃ στόματι αὐτου̃ καί γε αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Ait autem Absalom : Vocate Chusai Arachiten, et audiamus quid etiam ipse dicat. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 5 ׃17 ויאמר אבשלום קרא נא גם לחושי הארכי ונשמעה מה בפיו גם הוא ‬ (Ⅴ)

17. 6

And when Hushai was come to Absalom, Absalom spake unto him, saying, Ahithophel hath spoken after this manner: shall we do after his saying? if not; speak thou.

- Huschaï vint auprès d'Absalom, et Absalom lui dit: Voici comment a parlé Achitophel: devons-nous faire ce qu'il a dit, ou non? Parle, toi! (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰση̃λθεν Χουσι πρὸς Αβεσσαλωμ καὶ εἰ̃πεν Αβεσσαλωμ πρὸς αὐτὸν λέγων κατὰ τὸ ῥη̃μα του̃το ἐλάλησεν Αχιτοφελ εἰ ποιήσομεν κατὰ τὸν λόγον αὐτου̃ εἰ δὲ μή σὺ λάλησον (Ⅲ)

- Cumque venisset Chusai ad Absalom, ait Absalom ad eum : Hujuscemodi sermonem locutus est Achitophel : facere debemus an non ? quod das consilium ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 6 ׃17 ויבא חושי אל אבשלום ויאמר אבשלום אליו לאמר כדבר הזה דבר אחיתפל הנעשה את דברו אם אין אתה דבר ס‬ (Ⅴ)

17. 7

And Hushai said unto Absalom, The counsel that Ahithophel hath given is not good at this time.

- Huschaï répondit à Absalom: Pour cette fois le conseil qu'a donné Achitophel n'est pas bon. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Χουσι πρὸς Αβεσσαλωμ οὐκ ἀγαθὴ αὕτη ἡ βουλή ἣν ἐβουλεύσατο Αχιτοφελ τὸ ἅπαξ του̃το (Ⅲ)

- Et dixit Chusai ad Absalom : Non est bonum consilium quod dedit Achitophel hac vice. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 7 ׃17 ויאמר חושי אל אבשלום לא טובה העצה אשר יעץ אחיתפל בפעם הזאת ‬ (Ⅴ)

17. 8

For, said Hushai, thou knowest thy father and his men, that they be mighty men, and they be chafed in their minds, as a bear robbed of her whelps in the field: and thy father is a man of war, and will not lodge with the people.

- Et Huschaï dit: Tu connais la bravoure de ton père et de ses gens, ils sont furieux comme le serait dans les champs une ourse à qui l'on aurait enlevé ses petits. Ton père est un homme de guerre, et il ne passera pas la nuit avec le peuple; (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Χουσι σὺ οἰ̃δας τὸν πατέρα σου καὶ τοὺς ἄνδρας αὐτου̃ ὅτι δυνατοί εἰσιν σφόδρα καὶ κατάπικροι τη̨̃ ψυχη̨̃ αὐτω̃ν ὡς ἄρκος ἠτεκνωμένη ἐν ἀγρω̨̃ καὶ ὡς ὑ̃ς τραχει̃α ἐν τω̨̃ πεδίω̨ καὶ ὁ πατήρ σου ἀνὴρ πολεμιστὴς καὶ οὐ μὴ καταλύση̨ τὸν λαόν (Ⅲ)

- Et rursum intulit Chusai : Tu nosti patrem tuum, et viros qui cum eo sunt, esse fortissimos et amaro animo, veluti si ursa raptis catulis in saltu sæviat : sed et pater tuus vir bellator est, nec morabitur cum populo. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 8 ׃17 ויאמר חושי אתה ידעת את אביך ואת אנשיו כי גברים המה ומרי נפש המה כדב שכול בשדה ואביך איש מלחמה ולא ילין את העם ‬ (Ⅴ)

17. 9

Behold, he is hid now in some pit, or in some other place: and it will come to pass, when some of them be overthrown at the first, that whosoever heareth it will say, There is a slaughter among the people that follow Absalom.

- voici maintenant, il est caché dans quelque fosse ou dans quelque autre lieu. Et si, dès le commencement, il en est qui tombent sous leurs coups, on ne tardera pas à l'apprendre et l'on dira: Il y a une défaite parmi le peuple qui suit Absalom! (Ⅱ)

- ἰδοὺ γὰρ αὐτὸς νυ̃ν κέκρυπται ἐν ἑνὶ τω̃ν βουνω̃ν ἢ ἐν ἑνὶ τω̃ν τόπων καὶ ἔσται ἐν τω̨̃ ἐπιπεσει̃ν αὐτοι̃ς ἐν ἀρχη̨̃ καὶ ἀκούση̨ ὁ ἀκούων καὶ εἴπη̨ ἐγενήθη θραυ̃σις ἐν τω̨̃ λαω̨̃ τω̨̃ ὀπίσω Αβεσσαλωμ (Ⅲ)

- Forsitan nunc latitat in foveis, aut in uno, quo voluerit, loco : et cum ceciderit unus quilibet in principio, audiet quicumque audierit, et dicet : Facta est plaga in populo qui sequebatur Absalom. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 9 ׃17 הנה עתה הוא נחבא באחת הפחתים או באחד המקומת והיה כנפל בהם בתחלה ושמע השמע ואמר היתה מגפה בעם אשר אחרי אבשלם ‬ (Ⅴ)

17. 10

And he also that is valiant, whose heart is as the heart of a lion, shall utterly melt: for all Israel knoweth that thy father is a mighty man, and they which be with him are valiant men.

- Alors le plus vaillant, eût-il un coeur de lion, sera saisi d'épouvante; car tout Israël sait que ton père est un héros et qu'il a des braves avec lui. (Ⅱ)

- καί γε αὐτὸς υἱὸς δυνάμεως οὑ̃ ἡ καρδία καθὼς ἡ καρδία του̃ λέοντος τηκομένη τακήσεται ὅτι οἰ̃δεν πα̃ς Ισραηλ ὅτι δυνατὸς ὁ πατήρ σου καὶ υἱοὶ δυνάμεως οἱ μετ' αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Et fortissimus quisque, cujus cor est quasi leonis, pavore solvetur : scit enim omnis populus Israël fortem esse patrem tuum, et robustos omnes qui cum eo sunt. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 10 ׃17 והוא גם בן חיל אשר לבו כלב האריה המס ימס כי ידע כל ישראל כי גבור אביך ובני חיל אשר אתו ‬ (Ⅴ)

17. 11

Therefore I counsel that all Israel be generally gathered unto thee, from Dan even to Beersheba, as the sand that is by the sea for multitude; and that thou go to battle in thine own person.

- Je conseille donc que tout Israël se rassemble auprès de toi, depuis Dan jusqu'à Beer Schéba, multitude pareille au sable qui est sur le bord de la mer. Tu marcheras en personne au combat. (Ⅱ)

- ὅτι οὕτως συμβουλεύων ἐγὼ συνεβούλευσα καὶ συναγόμενος συναχθήσεται ἐπὶ σὲ πα̃ς Ισραηλ ἀπὸ Δαν καὶ ἕως Βηρσαβεε ὡς ἡ ἄμμος ἡ ἐπὶ τη̃ς θαλάσσης εἰς πλη̃θος καὶ τὸ πρόσωπόν σου πορευόμενον ἐν μέσω̨ αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Sed hoc mihi videtur rectum esse consilium. Congregetur ad te universus Israël, a Dan usque Bersabee, quasi arena maris innumerabilis : et tu eris in medio eorum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 11 ׃17 כי יעצתי האסף יאסף עליך כל ישראל מדן ועד באר שבע כחול אשר על הים לרב ופניך הלכים בקרב ‬ (Ⅴ)

17. 12

So shall we come upon him in some place where he shall be found, and we will light upon him as the dew falleth on the ground: and of him and of all the men that are with him there shall not be left so much as one.

- Nous arriverons à lui en quelque lieu que nous le trouvions, et nous tomberons sur lui comme la rosée tombe sur le sol; et pas un n'échappera, ni lui ni aucun des hommes qui sont avec lui. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἥξομεν πρὸς αὐτὸν εἰς ἕνα τω̃ν τόπων οὑ̃ ἐὰν εὕρωμεν αὐτὸν ἐκει̃ καὶ παρεμβαλου̃μεν ἐπ' αὐτόν ὡς πίπτει ἡ δρόσος ἐπὶ τὴν γη̃ν καὶ οὐχ ὑπολειψόμεθα ἐν αὐτω̨̃ καὶ τοι̃ς ἀνδράσιν τοι̃ς μετ' αὐτου̃ καί γε ἕνα (Ⅲ)

- Et irruemus super eum in quocumque loco inventus fuerit, et operiemus eum, sicut cadere solet ros super terram : et non relinquemus de viris qui cum eo sunt, ne unum quidem. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 12 ׃17 ובאנו אליו *באחת **באחד המקומת אשר נמצא שם ונחנו עליו כאשר יפל הטל על האדמה ולא נותר בו ובכל האנשים אשר אתו גם אחד ‬ (Ⅴ)

17. 13

Moreover, if he be gotten into a city, then shall all Israel bring ropes to that city, and we will draw it into the river, until there be not one small stone found there.

- S'il se retire dans une ville, tout Israël portera des cordes vers cette ville, et nous la traînerons au torrent, jusqu'à ce qu'on n'en trouve plus une pierre. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐὰν εἰς πόλιν συναχθη̨̃ καὶ λήμψεται πα̃ς Ισραηλ πρὸς τὴν πόλιν ἐκείνην σχοινία καὶ συρου̃μεν αὐτὴν ἕως εἰς τὸν χειμάρρουν ὅπως μὴ καταλειφθη̨̃ ἐκει̃ μηδὲ λίθος (Ⅲ)

- Quod si urbem aliquam fuerit ingressus, circumdabit omnis Israël civitati illi funes, et trahemus eam in torrentem, ut non reperiatur ne calculus quidem ex ea.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 13 ׃17 ואם אל עיר יאסף והשיאו כל ישראל אל העיר ההיא חבלים וסחבנו אתו עד הנחל עד אשר לא נמצא שם גם צרור פ‬ (Ⅴ)

17. 14

And Absalom and all the men of Israel said, The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel. For the LORD had appointed to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that the LORD might bring evil upon Absalom.

- Absalom et tous les gens d'Israël dirent: Le conseil de Huschaï, l'Arkien, vaut mieux que le conseil d'Achitophel. Or l'Éternel avait résolu d'anéantir le bon conseil d'Achitophel, afin d'amener le malheur sur Absalom. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Αβεσσαλωμ καὶ πα̃ς ἀνὴρ Ισραηλ ἀγαθὴ ἡ βουλὴ Χουσι του̃ Αραχι ὑπὲρ τὴν βουλὴν Αχιτοφελ καὶ κύριος ἐνετείλατο διασκεδάσαι τὴν βουλὴν Αχιτοφελ τὴν ἀγαθήν ὅπως ἂν ἐπαγάγη̨ κύριος ἐπὶ Αβεσσαλωμ τὰ κακὰ πάντα (Ⅲ)

- Dixitque Absalom, et omnes viri Israël : Melius est consilium Chusai Arachitæ, consilio Achitophel : Domini autem nutu dissipatum est consilium Achitophel utile, ut induceret Dominus super Absalom malum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 14 ׃17 ויאמר אבשלום וכל איש ישראל טובה עצת חושי הארכי מעצת אחיתפל ויהוה צוה להפר את עצת אחיתפל הטובה לבעבור הביא יהוה אל אבשלום את הרעה ס‬ (Ⅴ)

17. 15

Then said Hushai unto Zadok and to Abiathar the priests, Thus and thus did Ahithophel counsel Absalom and the elders of Israel; and thus and thus have I counseled.

- Huschaï dit aux sacrificateurs Tsadok et Abiathar: Achitophel a donné tel et tel conseil à Absalom et aux anciens d'Israël; et moi, j'ai conseillé telle et telle chose. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Χουσι ὁ του̃ Αραχι πρὸς Σαδωκ καὶ Αβιαθαρ τοὺς ἱερει̃ς οὕτως καὶ οὕτως συνεβούλευσεν Αχιτοφελ τω̨̃ Αβεσσαλωμ καὶ τοι̃ς πρεσβυτέροις Ισραηλ καὶ οὕτως καὶ οὕτως συνεβούλευσα ἐγώ (Ⅲ)

- Et ait Chusai Sadoc et Abiathar sacerdotibus : Hoc et hoc modo consilium dedit Achitophel Absalom et senioribus Israël : et ego tale et tale dedi consilium. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 15 ׃17 ויאמר חושי אל צדוק ואל אביתר הכהנים כזאת וכזאת יעץ אחיתפל את אבשלם ואת זקני ישראל וכזאת וכזאת יעצתי אני ‬ (Ⅴ)

17. 16

Now therefore send quickly, and tell David, saying, Lodge not this night in the plains of the wilderness, but speedily pass over; lest the king be swallowed up, and all the people that are with him.

- Maintenant, envoyez tout de suite informer David et faites-lui dire: Ne passe point la nuit dans les plaines du désert, mais va plus loin, de peur que le roi et tout le peuple qui est avec lui ne soient exposés à périr. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ νυ̃ν ἀποστείλατε ταχὺ καὶ ἀναγγείλατε τω̨̃ Δαυιδ λέγοντες μὴ αὐλισθη̨̃ς τὴν νύκτα ἐν Αραβωθ τη̃ς ἐρήμου καί γε διαβαίνων σπευ̃σον μήποτε καταπίη̨ τὸν βασιλέα καὶ πάντα τὸν λαὸν τὸν μετ' αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Nunc ergo mittite cito, et nuntiate David, dicentes : Ne moreris nocte hac in campestribus deserti, sed absque dilatione transgredere : ne forte absorbeatur rex, et omnis populus qui cum eo est. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 16 ׃17 ועתה שלחו מהרה והגידו לדוד לאמר אל תלן הלילה בערבות המדבר וגם עבור תעבור פן יבלע למלך ולכל העם אשר אתו ‬ (Ⅴ)

17. 17

Now Jonathan and Ahimaaz stayed by Enrogel; for they might not be seen to come into the city: and a wench went and told them; and they went and told king David.

- Jonathan et Achimaats se tenaient à En Roguel. Une servante vint leur dire d'aller informer le roi David; car ils n'osaient pas se montrer et entrer dans la ville. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ Ιωναθαν καὶ Αχιμαας εἱστήκεισαν ἐν τη̨̃ πηγη̨̃ Ρωγηλ καὶ ἐπορεύθη ἡ παιδίσκη καὶ ἀνήγγειλεν αὐτοι̃ς καὶ αὐτοὶ πορεύονται καὶ ἀναγγέλλουσιν τω̨̃ βασιλει̃ Δαυιδ ὅτι οὐκ ἐδύναντο ὀφθη̃ναι του̃ εἰσελθει̃ν εἰς τὴν πόλιν (Ⅲ)

- Jonathas autem et Achimaas stabant juxta fontem Rogel : abiit ancilla et nuntiavit eis. Et illi profecti sunt, ut referrent ad regem David nuntium : non enim poterant videri, aut introire civitatem. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 17 ׃17 ויהונתן ואחימעץ עמדים בעין רגל והלכה השפחה והגידה להם והם ילכו והגידו למלך דוד כי לא יוכלו להראות לבוא העירה ‬ (Ⅴ)

17. 18

Nevertheless a lad saw them, and told Absalom: but they went both of them away quickly, and came to a man's house in Bahurim, which had a well in his court; whither they went down.

- Un jeune homme les aperçut, et le rapporta à Absalom. Mais ils partirent tous deux en hâte, et ils arrivèrent à Bachurim à la maison d'un homme qui avait un puits dans sa cour, et ils y descendirent. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃δεν αὐτοὺς παιδάριον καὶ ἀπήγγειλεν τω̨̃ Αβεσσαλωμ καὶ ἐπορεύθησαν οἱ δύο ταχέως καὶ εἰση̃λθαν εἰς οἰκίαν ἀνδρὸς ἐν Βαουριμ καὶ αὐτω̨̃ λάκκος ἐν τη̨̃ αὐλη̨̃ καὶ κατέβησαν ἐκει̃ (Ⅲ)

- Vidit autem eos quidam puer, et indicavit Absalom : illi vero concito gradu ingressi sunt domum cujusdam viri in Bahurim, qui habebat puteum in vestibulo suo : et descenderunt in eum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 18 ׃17 וירא אתם נער ויגד לאבשלם וילכו שניהם מהרה ויבאו אל בית איש בבחורים ולו באר בחצרו וירדו שם ‬ (Ⅴ)

17. 19

And the woman took and spread a covering over the well's mouth, and spread ground corn thereon; and the thing was not known.

- La femme prit une couverture qu'elle étendit sur l'ouverture du puits, et elle y répandit du grain pilé pour qu'on ne se doutât de rien. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἔλαβεν ἡ γυνὴ καὶ διεπέτασεν τὸ ἐπικάλυμμα ἐπὶ πρόσωπον του̃ λάκκου καὶ ἔψυξεν ἐπ' αὐτω̨̃ Αραφωθ καὶ οὐκ ἐγνώσθη ῥη̃μα (Ⅲ)

- Tulit autem mulier, et expandit velamen super os putei, quasi siccans ptisanas : et sic latuit res. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 19 ׃17 ותקח האשה ותפרש את המסך על פני הבאר ותשטח עליו הרפות ולא נודע דבר ‬ (Ⅴ)

17. 20

And when Absalom's servants came to the woman to the house, they said, Where is Ahimaaz and Jonathan? And the woman said unto them, They be gone over the brook of water. And when they had sought and could not find them, they returned to Jerusalem.

- Les serviteurs d'Absalom entrèrent dans la maison auprès de cette femme, et dirent: Où sont Achimaats et Jonathan? La femme leur répondit: Ils ont passé le ruisseau. Ils cherchèrent, et ne les trouvant pas, ils retournèrent à Jérusalem. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἠ̃λθαν οἱ παι̃δες Αβεσσαλωμ πρὸς τὴν γυναι̃κα εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν καὶ εἰ̃παν που̃ Αχιμαας καὶ Ιωναθαν καὶ εἰ̃πεν αὐτοι̃ς ἡ γυνή παρη̃λθαν μικρὸν του̃ ὕδατος καὶ ἐζήτησαν καὶ οὐχ εὑ̃ραν καὶ ἀνέστρεψαν εἰς Ιερουσαλημ (Ⅲ)

- Cumque venissent servi Absalom in domum, ad mulierem dixerunt : Ubi est Achimaas et Jonathas ? Et respondit eis mulier : Transierunt festinanter, gustata paululum aqua. At hi qui quærebant, cum non reperissent, reversi sunt in Jerusalem. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 20 ׃17 ויבאו עבדי אבשלום אל האשה הביתה ויאמרו איה אחימעץ ויהונתן ותאמר להם האשה עברו מיכל המים ויבקשו ולא מצאו וישבו ירושלם ס‬ (Ⅴ)

17. 21

And it came to pass, after they were departed, that they came up out of the well, and went and told king David, and said unto David, Arise, and pass quickly over the water: for thus hath Ahithophel counseled against you.

- Après leur départ, Achimaats et Jonathan remontèrent du puits et allèrent informer le roi David. Ils dirent à David: Levez-vous et hâtez-vous de passer l'eau, car Achitophel a conseillé contre vous telle chose. (Ⅱ)

- ἐγένετο δὲ μετὰ τὸ ἀπελθει̃ν αὐτοὺς καὶ ἀνέβησαν ἐκ του̃ λάκκου καὶ ἐπορεύθησαν καὶ ἀνήγγειλαν τω̨̃ βασιλει̃ Δαυιδ καὶ εἰ̃παν πρὸς Δαυιδ ἀνάστητε καὶ διάβητε ταχέως τὸ ὕδωρ ὅτι οὕτως ἐβουλεύσατο περὶ ὑμω̃ν Αχιτοφελ (Ⅲ)

- Cumque abiissent, ascenderunt illi de puteo, et pergentes nuntiaverunt regi David, et dixerunt : Surgite, et transite cito fluvium : quoniam hujuscemodi dedit consilium contra vos Achitophel. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 21 ׃17 ויהי אחרי לכתם ויעלו מהבאר וילכו ויגדו למלך דוד ויאמרו אל דוד קומו ועברו מהרה את המים כי ככה יעץ עליכם אחיתפל ‬ (Ⅴ)

17. 22

Then David arose, and all the people that were with him, and they passed over Jordan: by the morning light there lacked not one of them that was not gone over Jordan.

- David et tout le peuple qui était avec lui se levèrent et ils passèrent le Jourdain; à la lumière du matin, il n'y en avait pas un qui fût resté à l'écart, pas un qui n'eût passé le Jourdain. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀνέστη Δαυιδ καὶ πα̃ς ὁ λαὸς ὁ μετ' αὐτου̃ καὶ διέβησαν τὸν Ιορδάνην ἕως του̃ φωτὸς του̃ πρωί ἕως ἑνὸς οὐκ ἔλαθεν ὃς οὐ διη̃λθεν τὸν Ιορδάνην (Ⅲ)

- Surrexit ergo David, et omnis populus qui cum eo erat, et transierunt Jordanem, donec dilucesceret : et ne unus quidem residuus fuit, qui non transisset fluvium. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 22 ׃17 ויקם דוד וכל העם אשר אתו ויעברו את הירדן עד אור הבקר עד אחד לא נעדר אשר לא עבר את הירדן ‬ (Ⅴ)

17. 23

And when Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled his ass, and arose, and gat him home to his house, to his city, and put his household in order, and hanged himself, and died, and was buried in the sepulchre of his father.

- Achitophel, voyant que son conseil n'était pas suivi, sella son âne et partit pour s'en aller chez lui dans sa ville. Il donna ses ordres à sa maison, et il s'étrangla. C'est ainsi qu'il mourut, et on l'enterra dans le sépulcre de son père. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ Αχιτοφελ εἰ̃δεν ὅτι οὐκ ἐγενήθη ἡ βουλὴ αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐπέσαξεν τὴν ὄνον αὐτου̃ καὶ ἀνέστη καὶ ἀπη̃λθεν εἰς τὸν οἰ̃κον αὐτου̃ εἰς τὴν πόλιν αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐνετείλατο τω̨̃ οἴκω̨ αὐτου̃ καὶ ἀπήγξατο καὶ ἀπέθανεν καὶ ἐτάφη ἐν τω̨̃ τάφω̨ του̃ πατρὸς αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Porro Achitophel videns quod non fuisset factum consilium suum, stravit asinum suum, surrexitque, et abiit in domum suam et in civitatem suam : et disposita domo sua, suspendio interiit, et sepultus est in sepulchro patris sui.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 23 ׃17 ואחיתפל ראה כי לא נעשתה עצתו ויחבש את החמור ויקם וילך אל ביתו אל עירו ויצו אל ביתו ויחנק וימת ויקבר בקבר אביו ס‬ (Ⅴ)

17. 24

Then David came to Mahanaim. And Absalom passed over Jordan, he and all the men of Israel with him.

- David arriva à Mahanaïm. Et Absalom passa le Jourdain, lui et tous les hommes d'Israël avec lui. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ Δαυιδ διη̃λθεν εἰς Μαναϊμ καὶ Αβεσσαλωμ διέβη τὸν Ιορδάνην αὐτὸς καὶ πα̃ς ἀνὴρ Ισραηλ μετ' αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- David autem venit in castra, et Absalom transivit Jordanem, ipse et omnes viri Israël cum eo. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 24 ׃17 ודוד בא מחנימה ואבשלם עבר את הירדן הוא וכל איש ישראל עמו ‬ (Ⅴ)

17. 25

And Absalom made Amasa captain of the host instead of Joab: which Amasa was a man's son, whose name was Ithra an Israelite, that went in to Abigail the daughter of Nahash, sister to Zeruiah Joab's mother.

- Absalom mit Amasa à la tête de l'armée, en remplacement de Joab; Amasa était fils d'un homme appelé Jithra, l'Israélite, qui était allé vers Abigal, fille de Nachasch et soeur de Tseruja, mère de Joab. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ τὸν Αμεσσαϊ κατέστησεν Αβεσσαλωμ ἀντὶ Ιωαβ ἐπὶ τη̃ς δυνάμεως καὶ Αμεσσαϊ υἱὸς ἀνδρὸς καὶ ὄνομα αὐτω̨̃ Ιοθορ ὁ Ισραηλίτης οὑ̃τος εἰση̃λθεν πρὸς Αβιγαιαν θυγατέρα Ναας ἀδελφὴν Σαρουιας μητρὸς Ιωαβ (Ⅲ)

- Amasam vero constituit Absalom pro Joab super exercitum : Amasa autem erat filius viri qui vocabatur Jetra de Jezraëli, qui ingressus est ad Abigail filiam Naas, sororem Sarviæ, quæ fuit mater Joab. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 25 ׃17 ואת עמשא שם אבשלם תחת יואב על הצבא ועמשא בן איש ושמו יתרא הישראלי אשר בא אל אביגל בת נחש אחות צרויה אם יואב ‬ (Ⅴ)

17. 26

So Israel and Absalom pitched in the land of Gilead.

- Israël et Absalom campèrent dans le pays de Galaad. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ παρενέβαλεν πα̃ς Ισραηλ καὶ Αβεσσαλωμ εἰς τὴν γη̃ν Γαλααδ (Ⅲ)

- Et castrametatus est Israël cum Absalom in terra Galaad. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 26 ׃17 ויחן ישראל ואבשלם ארץ הגלעד ס‬ (Ⅴ)

17. 27

And it came to pass, when David was come to Mahanaim, that Shobi the son of Nahash of Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and Machir the son of Ammiel of Lodebar, and Barzillai the Gileadite of Rogelim,

- Lorsque David fut arrivé à Mahanaïm, Schobi, fils de Nachasch, de Rabba des fils d'Ammon, Makir, fils d'Ammiel, de Lodebar, et Barzillaï, le Galaadite, de Roguelim, (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐγένετο ἡνίκα ἠ̃λθεν Δαυιδ εἰς Μαναϊμ Ουεσβι υἱὸς Ναας ἐκ Ραββαθ υἱω̃ν Αμμων καὶ Μαχιρ υἱὸς Αμιηλ ἐκ Λωδαβαρ καὶ Βερζελλι ὁ Γαλααδίτης ἐκ Ρωγελλιμ (Ⅲ)

- Cumque venisset David in castra, Sobi filius Naas de Rabbath filiorum Ammon, et Machir filius Ammihel de Lodabar, et Berzellai Galaadites de Rogelim, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 27 ׃17 ויהי כבוא דוד מחנימה ושבי בן נחש מרבת בני עמון ומכיר בן עמיאל מלא דבר וברזלי הגלעדי מרגלים ‬ (Ⅴ)

17. 28

Brought beds, and basins, and earthen vessels, and wheat, and barley, and flour, and parched corn, and beans, and lentils, and parched pulse,

- apportèrent des lits, des bassins, des vases de terre, du froment, de l'orge, de la farine, du grain rôti, des fèves, des lentilles, des pois rôtis, (Ⅱ)

- ἤνεγκαν δέκα κοίτας καὶ ἀμφιτάπους καὶ λέβητας δέκα καὶ σκεύη κεράμου καὶ πυροὺς καὶ κριθὰς καὶ ἄλευρον καὶ ἄλφιτον καὶ κύαμον καὶ φακὸν (Ⅲ)

- obtulerunt ei stratoria, et tapetia, et vasa fictilia, frumentum, et hordeum, et farinam, et polentam, et fabam, et lentem, et frixum cicer, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 28 ׃17 משכב וספות וכלי יוצר וחטים ושערים וקמח וקלי ופול ועדשים וקלי ‬ (Ⅴ)

17. 29

And honey, and butter, and sheep, and cheese of kine, for David, and for the people that were with him, to eat: for they said, The people is hungry, and weary, and thirsty, in the wilderness.

- du miel, de la crème, des brebis, et des fromages de vache. Ils apportèrent ces choses à David et au peuple qui était avec lui, afin qu'ils mangeassent; car ils disaient: Ce peuple a dû souffrir de la faim, de la fatigue et de la soif, dans le désert. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ μέλι καὶ βούτυρον καὶ πρόβατα καὶ Σαφφωθ βοω̃ν καὶ προσήνεγκαν τω̨̃ Δαυιδ καὶ τω̨̃ λαω̨̃ τω̨̃ μετ' αὐτου̃ φαγει̃ν ὅτι εἰ̃παν ὁ λαὸς πεινω̃ν καὶ ἐκλελυμένος καὶ διψω̃ν ἐν τη̨̃ ἐρήμω̨ (Ⅲ)

- et mel, et butyrum, oves, et pingues vitulos : dederuntque David, et populo qui cum eo erat, ad vescendum : suspicati enim sunt populum fame et siti fatigari in deserto. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 29 ׃17 ודבש וחמאה וצאן ושפות בקר הגישו לדוד ולעם אשר אתו לאכול כי אמרו העם רעב ועיף וצמא במדבר ‬ (Ⅴ)
