And it came to pass after this, that David inquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up into any of the cities of Judah? And the LORD said unto him, Go up. And David said, Whither shall I go up? And he said, Unto Hebron.
- Après cela, David consulta l'Éternel, en disant: Monterai-je dans une des villes de Juda? L'Éternel lui répondit: Monte. David dit: Où monterai-je? Et l'Éternel répondit: A Hébron. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἐγένετο μετὰ ταυ̃τα καὶ ἐπηρώτησεν Δαυιδ ἐν κυρίω̨ λέγων εἰ ἀναβω̃ εἰς μίαν τω̃ν πόλεων Ιουδα καὶ εἰ̃πεν κύριος πρὸς αὐτόν ἀνάβηθι καὶ εἰ̃πεν Δαυιδ που̃ ἀναβω̃ καὶ εἰ̃πεν εἰς Χεβρων (Ⅲ)
- Igitur post hæc consuluit David Dominum, dicens : Num ascendam in unam de civitatibus Juda ? Et ait Dominus ad eum : Ascende. Dixitque David : Quo ascendam ? Et respondit ei : In Hebron. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 1  ׃2   ויהי אחרי כן וישאל דוד ביהוה לאמר האעלה באחת ערי יהודה ויאמר יהוה אליו עלה ויאמר דוד אנה אעלה ויאמר חברנה ‬ (Ⅴ)

So David went up thither, and his two wives also, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail Nabal's wife the Carmelite.
- David y monta, avec ses deux femmes, Achinoam de Jizreel, et Abigaïl de Carmel, femme de Nabal. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἀνέβη ἐκει̃ Δαυιδ εἰς Χεβρων καὶ ἀμφότεραι αἱ γυναι̃κες αὐτου̃ Αχινοομ ἡ Ιεζραηλι̃τις καὶ Αβιγαια ἡ γυνὴ Ναβαλ του̃ Καρμηλίου (Ⅲ)
- Ascendit ergo David, et duæ uxores ejus, Achinoam Jezraëlites, et Abigail uxor Nabal Carmeli : (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 2  ׃2   ויעל שם דוד וגם שתי נשיו אחינעם היזרעלית ואביגיל אשת נבל הכרמלי ‬ (Ⅴ)

And his men that were with him did David bring up, every man with his household: and they dwelt in the cities of Hebron.
- David fit aussi monter les gens qui étaient auprès de lui, chacun avec sa maison; et ils habitèrent dans les villes d'Hébron. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ οἱ ἄνδρες οἱ μετ' αὐτου̃ ἕκαστος καὶ ὁ οἰ̃κος αὐτου̃ καὶ κατώ̨κουν ἐν ται̃ς πόλεσιν Χεβρων (Ⅲ)
- sed et viros, qui erant cum eo, duxit David singulos cum domo sua : et manserunt in oppidis Hebron. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 3  ׃2   ואנשיו אשר עמו העלה דוד איש וביתו וישבו בערי חברון ‬ (Ⅴ)
2. 4  
And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying, That the men of Jabeshgilead were they that buried Saul.
- Les hommes de Juda vinrent, et là ils oignirent David pour roi sur la maison de Juda. On informa David que c'étaient les gens de Jabès en Galaad qui avaient enterré Saül. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἔρχονται ἄνδρες τη̃ς Ιουδαίας καὶ χρίουσιν τὸν Δαυιδ ἐκει̃ του̃ βασιλεύειν ἐπὶ τὸν οἰ̃κον Ιουδα καὶ ἀπήγγειλαν τω̨̃ Δαυιδ λέγοντες ὅτι οἱ ἄνδρες Ιαβις τη̃ς Γαλααδίτιδος ἔθαψαν τὸν Σαουλ (Ⅲ)
- Veneruntque viri Juda, et unxerunt ibi David ut regnaret super domum Juda. Et nuntiatum est David quod viri Jabes Galaad sepelissent Saul. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 4  ׃2   ויבאו אנשי יהודה וימשחו שם את דוד למלך על בית יהודה ויגדו לדוד לאמר אנשי יביש גלעד אשר קברו את שאול ס‬ (Ⅴ)

And David sent messengers unto the men of Jabeshgilead, and said unto them, Blessed be ye of the LORD, that ye have showed this kindness unto your lord, even unto Saul, and have buried him.
- David envoya des messagers aux gens de Jabès en Galaad, pour leur dire: Soyez bénis de l'Éternel, puisque vous avez ainsi montré de la bienveillance envers Saül, votre maître, et que vous l'avez enterré. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἀπέστειλεν Δαυιδ ἀγγέλους πρὸς τοὺς ἡγουμένους Ιαβις τη̃ς Γαλααδίτιδος καὶ εἰ̃πεν πρὸς αὐτούς εὐλογημένοι ὑμει̃ς τω̨̃ κυρίω̨ ὅτι πεποιήκατε τὸ ἔλεος του̃το ἐπὶ τὸν κύριον ὑμω̃ν ἐπὶ Σαουλ τὸν χριστὸν κυρίου καὶ ἐθάψατε αὐτὸν καὶ Ιωναθαν τὸν υἱὸν αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)
- Misit ergo David nuntios ad viros Jabes Galaad, dixitque ad eos : Benedicti vos Domino, qui fecistis misericordiam hanc cum domino vestro Saul, et sepelistis eum. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 5  ׃2   וישלח דוד מלאכים אל אנשי יביש גלעד ויאמר אליהם ברכים אתם ליהוה אשר עשיתם החסד הזה עם אדניכם עם שאול ותקברו אתו ‬ (Ⅴ)
2. 6  
And now the LORD show kindness and truth unto you: and I also will requite you this kindness, because ye have done this thing.
- Et maintenant, que l'Éternel use envers vous de bonté et de fidélité. Moi aussi je vous ferai du bien, parce que vous avez agi de la sorte. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ νυ̃ν ποιήσαι κύριος μεθ' ὑμω̃ν ἔλεος καὶ ἀλήθειαν καί γε ἐγὼ ποιήσω μεθ' ὑμω̃ν τὰ ἀγαθὰ ταυ̃τα ὅτι ἐποιήσατε τὸ ῥη̃μα του̃το (Ⅲ)
- Et nunc retribuet vobis quidem Dominus misericordiam et veritatem : sed et ego reddam gratiam, eo quod fecistis verbum istud. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 6  ׃2   ועתה יעש יהוה עמכם חסד ואמת וגם אנכי אעשה אתכם הטובה הזאת אשר עשיתם הדבר הזה ‬ (Ⅴ)
2. 7  
Therefore now let your hands be strengthened, and be ye valiant: for your master Saul is dead, and also the house of Judah have anointed me king over them.
- Que vos mains se fortifient, et soyez de vaillants hommes; car votre maître Saül est mort, et c'est moi que la maison de Juda a oint pour roi sur elle. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ νυ̃ν κραταιούσθωσαν αἱ χει̃ρες ὑμω̃ν καὶ γίνεσθε εἰς υἱοὺς δυνατούς ὅτι τέθνηκεν ὁ κύριος ὑμω̃ν Σαουλ καί γε ἐμὲ κέχρικεν ὁ οἰ̃κος Ιουδα ἐφ' ἑαυτοὺς εἰς βασιλέα (Ⅲ)
- Confortentur manus vestræ, et estote filii fortitudinis : licet enim mortuus sit dominus vester Saul, tamen me unxit domus Juda in regem sibi.\ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 7  ׃2   ועתה תחזקנה ידיכם והיו לבני חיל כי מת אדניכם שאול וגם אתי משחו בית יהודה למלך עליהם פ‬ (Ⅴ)
2. 8  
But Abner the son of Ner, captain of Saul's host, took Ishbosheth the son of Saul, and brought him over to Mahanaim;
- Cependant Abner, fils de Ner, chef de l'armée de Saül, prit Isch Boscheth, fils de Saül, et le fit passer à Mahanaïm. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ Αβεννηρ υἱὸς Νηρ ἀρχιστράτηγος του̃ Σαουλ ἔλαβεν τὸν Ιεβοσθε υἱὸν Σαουλ καὶ ἀνεβίβασεν αὐτὸν ἐκ τη̃ς παρεμβολη̃ς εἰς Μαναεμ (Ⅲ)
- Abner autem filius Ner, princeps exercitus Saul, tulit Isboseth filium Saul, et circumduxit eum per castra, (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 8  ׃2   ואבנר בן נר שר צבא אשר לשאול לקח את איש בשת בן שאול ויעברהו מחנים ‬ (Ⅴ)
2. 9  
And made him king over Gilead, and over the Ashurites, and over Jezreel, and over Ephraim, and over Benjamin, and over all Israel.
- Il l'établit roi sur Galaad, sur les Gueschuriens, sur Jizreel, sur Éphraïm, sur Benjamin, sur tout Israël. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἐβασίλευσεν αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τὴν Γαλααδι̃τιν καὶ ἐπὶ τὸν Θασιρι καὶ ἐπὶ τὸν Ιεζραελ καὶ ἐπὶ τὸν Εφραιμ καὶ ἐπὶ τὸν Βενιαμιν καὶ ἐπὶ πάντα Ισραηλ (Ⅲ)
- regemque constituit super Galaad, et super Gessuri, et super Jezraël, et super Ephraim, et super Benjamin, et super Israël universum. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 9  ׃2   וימלכהו אל הגלעד ואל האשורי ואל יזרעאל ועל אפרים ועל בנימן ועל ישראל כלה פ‬ (Ⅴ)
2. 10  
Ishbosheth Saul's son was forty years old when he began to reign over Israel, and reigned two years. But the house of Judah followed David.
- Isch Boscheth, fils de Saül, était âgé de quarante ans, lorsqu'il devint roi d'Israël, et il régna deux ans. Il n'y eut que la maison de Juda qui resta attachée à David. (Ⅱ)
- τεσσαράκοντα ἐτω̃ν Ιεβοσθε υἱὸς Σαουλ ὅτε ἐβασίλευσεν ἐπὶ τὸν Ισραηλ καὶ δύο ἔτη ἐβασίλευσεν πλὴν του̃ οἴκου Ιουδα οἳ ἠ̃σαν ὀπίσω Δαυιδ (Ⅲ)
- Quadraginta annorum erat Isboseth filius Saul cum regnare cœpisset super Israël, et duobus annis regnavit : sola autem domus Juda sequebatur David. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 10 ׃2   בן ארבעים שנה איש בשת בן שאול במלכו על ישראל ושתים שנים מלך אך בית יהודה היו אחרי דוד ‬ (Ⅴ)
2. 11  
And the time that David was king in Hebron over the house of Judah was seven years and six months.
- Le temps pendant lequel David régna à Hébron sur la maison de Juda fut de sept ans et six mois. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἐγένοντο αἱ ἡμέραι ἃς Δαυιδ ἐβασίλευσεν ἐν Χεβρων ἐπὶ τὸν οἰ̃κον Ιουδα ἑπτὰ ἔτη καὶ ἓξ μη̃νας (Ⅲ)
- Et fuit numerus dierum quos commoratus est David imperans in Hebron super domum Juda, septem annorum et sex mensium.\ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 11 ׃2   ויהי מספר הימים אשר היה דוד מלך בחברון על בית יהודה שבע שנים וששה חדשים ס‬ (Ⅴ)
2. 12  
And Abner the son of Ner, and the servants of Ishbosheth the son of Saul, went out from Mahanaim to Gibeon.
- Abner, fils de Ner, et les gens d'Isch Boscheth, fils de Saül, sortirent de Mahanaïm pour marcher sur Gabaon. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἐξη̃λθεν Αβεννηρ υἱὸς Νηρ καὶ οἱ παι̃δες Ιεβοσθε υἱου̃ Σαουλ ἐκ Μαναεμ εἰς Γαβαων (Ⅲ)
- Egressusque est Abner filius Ner, et pueri Isboseth filii Saul, de castris in Gabaon. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 12 ׃2   ויצא אבנר בן נר ועבדי איש בשת בן שאול ממחנים גבעונה ‬ (Ⅴ)

And Joab the son of Zeruiah, and the servants of David, went out, and met together by the pool of Gibeon: and they sat down, the one on the one side of the pool, and the other on the other side of the pool.
- Joab, fils de Tseruja, et les gens de David, se mirent aussi en marche. Ils se rencontrèrent près de l'étang de Gabaon, et ils s'arrêtèrent les uns en deçà de l'étang, et les autres au delà. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ Ιωαβ υἱὸς Σαρουιας καὶ οἱ παι̃δες Δαυιδ ἐξήλθοσαν ἐκ Χεβρων καὶ συναντω̃σιν αὐτοι̃ς ἐπὶ τὴν κρήνην τὴν Γαβαων ἐπὶ τὸ αὐτό καὶ ἐκάθισαν οὑ̃τοι ἐπὶ τὴν κρήνην τὴν Γαβαων ἐντευ̃θεν καὶ οὑ̃τοι ἐπὶ τὴν κρήνην ἐντευ̃θεν (Ⅲ)
- Porro Joab filius Sarviæ, et pueri David, egressi sunt, et occurrerunt eis juxta piscinam Gabaon. Et cum in unum convenissent, e regione sederunt : hi ex una parte piscinæ, et illi ex altera. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 13 ׃2   ויואב בן צרויה ועבדי דוד יצאו ויפגשום על ברכת גבעון יחדו וישבו אלה על הברכה מזה ואלה על הברכה מזה ‬ (Ⅴ)

And Abner said to Joab, Let the young men now arise, and play before us. And Joab said, Let them arise.
- Abner dit à Joab: Que ces jeunes gens se lèvent, et qu'ils se battent devant nous! Joab répondit: Qu'ils se lèvent! (Ⅱ)
- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Αβεννερ πρὸς Ιωαβ ἀναστήτωσαν δὴ τὰ παιδάρια καὶ παιξάτωσαν ἐνώπιον ἡμω̃ν καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ιωαβ ἀναστήτωσαν (Ⅲ)
- Dixitque Abner ad Joab : Surgant pueri, et ludant coram nobis. Et respondit Joab : Surgant. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 14 ׃2   ויאמר אבנר אל יואב יקומו נא הנערים וישחקו לפנינו ויאמר יואב יקמו ‬ (Ⅴ)

Then there arose and went over by number twelve of Benjamin, which pertained to Ishbosheth the son of Saul, and twelve of the servants of David.
- Ils se levèrent et s'avancèrent en nombre égal, douze pour Benjamin et pour Isch Boscheth, fils de Saül, et douze des gens de David. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἀνέστησαν καὶ παρη̃λθον ἐν ἀριθμω̨̃ τω̃ν παίδων Βενιαμιν δώδεκα τω̃ν Ιεβοσθε υἱου̃ Σαουλ καὶ δώδεκα ἐκ τω̃ν παίδων Δαυιδ (Ⅲ)
- Surrexerunt ergo, et transierunt numero duodecim de Benjamin, ex parte Isboseth filii Saul, et duodecim de pueris David. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 15 ׃2   ויקמו ויעברו במספר שנים עשר לבנימן ולאיש בשת בן שאול ושנים עשר מעבדי דוד ‬ (Ⅴ)
2. 16  
And they caught every one his fellow by the head, and thrust his sword in his fellow's side; so they fell down together: wherefore that place was called Helkathhazzurim, which is in Gibeon.
- Chacun saisissant son adversaire par la tête lui enfonça son épée dans le flanc, et ils tombèrent tous ensemble. Et l'on donna à ce lieu, qui est près de Gabaon, le nom de Helkath Hatsurim. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἐκράτησαν ἕκαστος τη̨̃ χειρὶ τὴν κεφαλὴν του̃ πλησίον αὐτου̃ καὶ μάχαιρα αὐτου̃ εἰς πλευρὰν του̃ πλησίον αὐτου̃ καὶ πίπτουσιν κατὰ τὸ αὐτό καὶ ἐκλήθη τὸ ὄνομα του̃ τόπου ἐκείνου μερὶς τω̃ν ἐπιβούλων ἥ ἐστιν ἐν Γαβαων (Ⅲ)
- Apprehensoque unusquisque capite comparis sui, defixit gladium in latus contrarii, et ceciderunt simul : vocatumque est nomen loci illius : Ager robustorum, in Gabaon. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 16 ׃2   ויחזקו איש בראש רעהו וחרבו בצד רעהו ויפלו יחדו ויקרא למקום ההוא חלקת הצרים אשר בגבעון ‬ (Ⅴ)

And there was a very sore battle that day; and Abner was beaten, and the men of Israel, before the servants of David.
- Il y eut en ce jour un combat très rude, dans lequel Abner et les hommes d'Israël furent battus par les gens de David. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἐγένετο ὁ πόλεμος σκληρὸς ὥστε λίαν ἐν τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ ἐκείνη̨ καὶ ἔπταισεν Αβεννηρ καὶ ἄνδρες Ισραηλ ἐνώπιον παίδων Δαυιδ (Ⅲ)
- Et ortum est bellum durum satis in die illa : fugatusque est Abner et viri Israël a pueris David.\ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 17 ׃2   ותהי המלחמה קשה עד מאד ביום ההוא וינגף אבנר ואנשי ישראל לפני עבדי דוד ‬ (Ⅴ)
2. 18  
And there were three sons of Zeruiah there, Joab, and Abishai, and Asahel: and Asahel was as light of foot as a wild roe.
- Là se trouvaient les trois fils de Tseruja: Joab, Abischaï et Asaël. Asaël avait les pieds légers comme une gazelle des champs: (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἐγένοντο ἐκει̃ τρει̃ς υἱοὶ Σαρουιας Ιωαβ καὶ Αβεσσα καὶ Ασαηλ καὶ Ασαηλ κου̃φος τοι̃ς ποσὶν αὐτου̃ ὡσεὶ μία δορκὰς ἐν ἀγρω̨̃ (Ⅲ)
- Erant autem ibi tres filii Sarviæ, Joab, et Abisai, et Asaël : porro Asaël cursor velocissimus fuit, quasi unus de capreis quæ morantur in silvis. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 18 ׃2   ויהיו שם שלשה בני צרויה יואב ואבישי ועשהאל ועשהאל קל ברגליו כאחד הצבים אשר בשדה ‬ (Ⅴ)
2. 19  
And Asahel pursued after Abner; and in going he turned not to the right hand nor to the left from following Abner.
- il poursuivit Abner, sans se détourner de lui pour aller à droite ou à gauche. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ κατεδίωξεν Ασαηλ ὀπίσω Αβεννηρ καὶ οὐκ ἐξέκλινεν του̃ πορεύεσθαι εἰς δεξιὰ οὐδὲ εἰς ἀριστερὰ κατόπισθεν Αβεννηρ (Ⅲ)
- Persequebatur autem Asaël Abner, et non declinavit ad dextram neque ad sinistram omittens persequi Abner. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 19 ׃2   וירדף עשהאל אחרי אבנר ולא נטה ללכת על הימין ועל השמאול מאחרי אבנר ‬ (Ⅴ)
2. 20  
Then Abner looked behind him, and said, Art thou Asahel? And he answered, I am.
- Abner regarda derrière lui, et dit: Est-ce toi, Asaël? Et il répondit: C'est moi. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἐπέβλεψεν Αβεννηρ εἰς τὰ ὀπίσω αὐτου̃ καὶ εἰ̃πεν εἰ σὺ εἰ̃ αὐτὸς Ασαηλ καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἐγώ εἰμι (Ⅲ)
- Respexit itaque Abner post tergum suum, et ait : Tune es Asaël ? Qui respondit : Ego sum. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 20 ׃2   ויפן אבנר אחריו ויאמר האתה זה עשהאל ויאמר אנכי ‬ (Ⅴ)
2. 21  
And Abner said to him, Turn thee aside to thy right hand or to thy left, and lay thee hold on one of the young men, and take thee his armor. But Asahel would not turn aside from following of him.
- Abner lui dit: Tire à droite ou à gauche; saisis-toi de l'un de ces jeunes gens, et prends sa dépouille. Mais Asaël ne voulut point se détourner de lui. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ εἰ̃πεν αὐτω̨̃ Αβεννηρ ἔκκλινον σὺ εἰς τὰ δεξιὰ ἢ εἰς τὰ ἀριστερὰ καὶ κάτασχε σαυτω̨̃ ἓν τω̃ν παιδαρίων καὶ λαβὲ σεαυτω̨̃ τὴν πανοπλίαν αὐτου̃ καὶ οὐκ ἠθέλησεν Ασαηλ ἐκκλι̃ναι ἐκ τω̃ν ὄπισθεν αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)
- Dixitque ei Abner : Vade ad dexteram, sive ad sinistram, et apprehende unum de adolescentibus, et tolle tibi spolia ejus. Noluit autem Asaël omittere quin urgeret eum. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 21 ׃2   ויאמר לו אבנר נטה לך על ימינך או על שמאלך ואחז לך אחד מהנערים וקח לך את חלצתו ולא אבה עשהאל לסור מאחריו ‬ (Ⅴ)

And Abner said again to Asahel, Turn thee aside from following me: wherefore should I smite thee to the ground? how then should I hold up my face to Joab thy brother?
- Abner dit encore à Asaël: Détourne-toi de moi; pourquoi te frapperais-je et t'abattrais-je en terre? comment ensuite lèverais-je le visage devant ton frère Joab? (Ⅱ)
- καὶ προσέθετο ἔτι Αβεννηρ λέγων τω̨̃ Ασαηλ ἀπόστηθι ἀπ' ἐμου̃ ἵνα μὴ πατάξω σε εἰς τὴν γη̃ν καὶ πω̃ς ἀρω̃ τὸ πρόσωπόν μου πρὸς Ιωαβ καὶ που̃ ἐστιν ταυ̃τα ἐπίστρεφε πρὸς Ιωαβ τὸν ἀδελφόν σου (Ⅲ)
- Rursumque locutus est Abner ad Asaël : Recede, noli me sequi, ne compellar confodere te in terram, et levare non potero faciem meam ad Joab fratrem tuum. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 22 ׃2   ויסף עוד אבנר לאמר אל עשהאל סור לך מאחרי למה אככה ארצה ואיך אשא פני אל יואב אחיך ‬ (Ⅴ)

Howbeit he refused to turn aside: wherefore Abner with the hinder end of the spear smote him under the fifth rib, that the spear came out behind him; and he fell down there, and died in the same place: and it came to pass, that as many as came to the place where Asahel fell down and died stood still.
- Et Asaël refusa de se détourner. Sur quoi Abner le frappa au ventre avec l'extrémité inférieure de sa lance, et la lance sortit par derrière. Il tomba et mourut sur place. Tous ceux qui arrivaient au lieu où Asaël était tombé mort, s'y arrêtaient. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ οὐκ ἐβούλετο του̃ ἀποστη̃ναι καὶ τύπτει αὐτὸν Αβεννηρ ἐν τω̨̃ ὀπίσω του̃ δόρατος ἐπὶ τὴν ψόαν καὶ διεξη̃λθεν τὸ δόρυ ἐκ τω̃ν ὀπίσω αὐτου̃ καὶ πίπτει ἐκει̃ καὶ ἀποθνή̨σκει ὑποκάτω αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐγένετο πα̃ς ὁ ἐρχόμενος ἕως του̃ τόπου οὑ̃ ἔπεσεν ἐκει̃ Ασαηλ καὶ ἀπέθανεν καὶ ὑφίστατο (Ⅲ)
- Qui audire contempsit, et noluit declinare : percussit ergo eum Abner aversa hasta in inguine, et transfodit, et mortuus est in eodem loco : omnesque qui transibant per locum illum, in quo ceciderat Asaël et mortuus erat, subsistebant. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 23 ׃2   וימאן לסור ויכהו אבנר באחרי החנית אל החמש ותצא החנית מאחריו ויפל שם וימת *תחתו **תחתיו ויהי כל הבא אל המקום אשר נפל שם עשהאל וימת ויעמדו ‬ (Ⅴ)

Joab also and Abishai pursued after Abner: and the sun went down when they were come to the hill of Ammah, that lieth before Giah by the way of the wilderness of Gibeon.
- Joab et Abischaï poursuivirent Abner, et le soleil se couchait quand ils arrivèrent au coteau d'Amma, qui est en face de Guiach, sur le chemin du désert de Gabaon. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ κατεδίωξεν Ιωαβ καὶ Αβεσσα ὀπίσω Αβεννηρ καὶ ὁ ἥλιος ἔδυνεν καὶ αὐτοὶ εἰση̃λθον ἕως του̃ βουνου̃ Αμμαν ὅ ἐστιν ἐπὶ προσώπου γαι ὁδὸν ἔρημον Γαβαων (Ⅲ)
- Persequentibus autem Joab et Abisai fugientem Abner, sol occubuit : et venerunt usque ad collem aquæductus, qui est ex adverso vallis itineris deserti in Gabaon. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 24 ׃2   וירדפו יואב ואבישי אחרי אבנר והשמש באה והמה באו עד גבעת אמה אשר על פני גיח דרך מדבר גבעון ‬ (Ⅴ)
2. 25  
And the children of Benjamin gathered themselves together after Abner, and became one troop, and stood on the top of an hill.
- Les fils de Benjamin se rallièrent à la suite d'Abner et formèrent un corps, et ils s'arrêtèrent au sommet d'une colline. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ συναθροίζονται υἱοὶ Βενιαμιν οἱ ὀπίσω Αβεννηρ καὶ ἐγενήθησαν εἰς συνάντησιν μίαν καὶ ἔστησαν ἐπὶ κεφαλὴν βουνου̃ ἑνός (Ⅲ)
- Congregatique sunt filii Benjamin ad Abner : et conglobati in unum cuneum, steterunt in summitate tumuli unius. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 25 ׃2   ויתקבצו בני בנימן אחרי אבנר ויהיו לאגדה אחת ויעמדו על ראש גבעה אחת ‬ (Ⅴ)
2. 26  
Then Abner called to Joab, and said, Shall the sword devour for ever? knowest thou not that it will be bitterness in the latter end? how long shall it be then, ere thou bid the people return from following their brethren?
- Abner appela Joab, et dit: L'épée dévorera-t-elle toujours? Ne sais-tu pas qu'il y aura de l'amertume à la fin? Jusques à quand tarderas-tu à dire au peuple de ne plus poursuivre ses frères? (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἐκάλεσεν Αβεννηρ Ιωαβ καὶ εἰ̃πεν μὴ εἰς νι̃κος καταφάγεται ἡ ῥομφαία ἠ̃ οὐκ οἰ̃δας ὅτι πικρὰ ἔσται εἰς τὰ ἔσχατα καὶ ἕως πότε οὐ μὴ εἴπη̨ς τω̨̃ λαω̨̃ ἀναστρέφειν ἀπὸ ὄπισθεν τω̃ν ἀδελφω̃ν ἡμω̃ν (Ⅲ)
- Et exclamavit Abner ad Joab, et ait : Num usque ad internecionem tuus mucro desæviet ? an ignoras quod periculosa sit desperatio ? usquequo non dicis populo ut omittat persequi fratres suos ? (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 26 ׃2   ויקרא אבנר אל יואב ויאמר הלנצח תאכל חרב הלוא ידעתה כי מרה תהיה באחרונה ועד מתי לא תאמר לעם לשוב מאחרי אחיהם ‬ (Ⅴ)
2. 27  
And Joab said, As God liveth, unless thou hadst spoken, surely then in the morning the people had gone up every one from following his brother.
- Joab répondit: Dieu est vivant! si tu n'eusses parlé, le peuple n'aurait pas cessé avant le matin de poursuivre ses frères. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ιωαβ ζη̨̃ κύριος ὅτι εἰ μὴ ἐλάλησας διότι τότε ἐκ πρωίθεν ἀνέβη ὁ λαὸς ἕκαστος κατόπισθεν του̃ ἀδελφου̃ αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)
- Et ait Joab : Vivit Dominus, si locutus fuisses, mane recessisset populus persequens fratrem suum. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 27 ׃2   ויאמר יואב חי האלהים כי לולא דברת כי אז מהבקר נעלה העם איש מאחרי אחיו ‬ (Ⅴ)
2. 28  
So Joab blew a trumpet, and all the people stood still, and pursued after Israel no more, neither fought they any more.
- Et Joab sonna de la trompette, et tout le peuple s'arrêta; ils ne poursuivirent plus Israël, et ils ne continuèrent pas à se battre. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἐσάλπισεν Ιωαβ τη̨̃ σάλπιγγι καὶ ἀπέστησαν πα̃ς ὁ λαὸς καὶ οὐ κατεδίωξαν ὀπίσω του̃ Ισραηλ καὶ οὐ προσέθεντο ἔτι του̃ πολεμει̃ν (Ⅲ)
- Insonuit ergo Joab buccina, et stetit omnis exercitus, nec persecuti sunt ultra Israël, neque iniere certamen. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 28 ׃2   ויתקע יואב בשופר ויעמדו כל העם ולא ירדפו עוד אחרי ישראל ולא יספו עוד להלחם ‬ (Ⅴ)
2. 29  
And Abner and his men walked all that night through the plain, and passed over Jordan, and went through all Bithron, and they came to Mahanaim.
- Abner et ses gens marchèrent toute la nuit dans la plaine; ils passèrent le Jourdain, traversèrent en entier le Bithron, et arrivèrent à Mahanaïm. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ Αβεννηρ καὶ οἱ ἄνδρες αὐτου̃ ἀπη̃λθον εἰς δυσμὰς ὅλην τὴν νύκτα ἐκείνην καὶ διέβαιναν τὸν Ιορδάνην καὶ ἐπορεύθησαν ὅλην τὴν παρατείνουσαν καὶ ἔρχονται εἰς τὴν παρεμβολήν (Ⅲ)
- Abner autem et viri ejus abierunt per campestria, tota nocte illa : et transierunt Jordanem, et lustrata omni Beth-horon, venerunt ad castra. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 29 ׃2   ואבנר ואנשיו הלכו בערבה כל הלילה ההוא ויעברו את הירדן וילכו כל הבתרון ויבאו מחנים ‬ (Ⅴ)
2. 30  
And Joab returned from following Abner: and when he had gathered all the people together, there lacked of David's servants nineteen men and Asahel.
- Joab revint de la poursuite d'Abner, et rassembla tout le peuple; il manquait dix-neuf hommes des gens de David, et Asaël. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ Ιωαβ ἀνέστρεψεν ὄπισθεν ἀπὸ του̃ Αβεννηρ καὶ συνήθροισεν πάντα τὸν λαόν καὶ ἐπεσκέπησαν τω̃ν παίδων Δαυιδ ἐννεακαίδεκα ἄνδρες καὶ Ασαηλ (Ⅲ)
- Porro Joab reversus, omisso Abner, congregavit omnem populum : et defuerunt de pueris David decem et novem viri, excepto Asaële. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 30 ׃2   ויואב שב מאחרי אבנר ויקבץ את כל העם ויפקדו מעבדי דוד תשעה עשר איש ועשה אל ‬ (Ⅴ)
2. 31  
But the servants of David had smitten of Benjamin, and of Abner's men, so that three hundred and threescore men died.
- Mais les gens de David avaient frappé à mort trois cent soixante hommes parmi ceux de Benjamin et d'Abner. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ οἱ παι̃δες Δαυιδ ἐπάταξαν τω̃ν υἱω̃ν Βενιαμιν τω̃ν ἀνδρω̃ν Αβεννηρ τριακοσίους ἑξήκοντα ἄνδρας παρ' αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)
- Servi autem David percusserunt de Benjamin, et de viris qui erant cum Abner, trecentos sexaginta, qui et mortui sunt. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 31 ׃2   ועבדי דוד הכו מבנימן ובאנשי אבנר שלש מאות וששים איש מתו ‬ (Ⅴ)

And they took up Asahel, and buried him in the sepulchre of his father, which was in Bethlehem. And Joab and his men went all night, and they came to Hebron at break of day.
- Ils emportèrent Asaël, et l'enterrèrent dans le sépulcre de son père à Bethléhem. Joab et ses gens marchèrent toute la nuit, et le jour paraissait quand ils furent à Hébron. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ αἴρουσιν τὸν Ασαηλ καὶ θάπτουσιν αὐτὸν ἐν τω̨̃ τάφω̨ του̃ πατρὸς αὐτου̃ ἐν Βαιθλεεμ καὶ ἐπορεύθη Ιωαβ καὶ οἱ ἄνδρες οἱ μετ' αὐτου̃ ὅλην τὴν νύκτα καὶ διέφαυσεν αὐτοι̃ς ἐν Χεβρων (Ⅲ)
- Tuleruntque Asaël, et sepelierunt eum in sepulchro patris sui in Bethlehem : et ambulaverunt tota nocte Joab et viri qui erant cum eo, et in ipso crepusculo pervenerunt in Hebron. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 32 ׃2   וישאו את עשהאל ויקברהו בקבר אביו אשר בית לחם וילכו כל הלילה יואב ואנשיו ויאר להם בחברון ‬ (Ⅴ)
