20. 1

And there happened to be there a man of Belial, whose name was Sheba, the son of Bichri, a Benjamite: and he blew a trumpet, and said, We have no part in David, neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: every man to his tents, O Israel.

- Il se trouvait là un méchant homme, nommé Schéba, fils de Bicri, Benjamite. Il sonna de la trompette, et dit: Point de part pour nous avec David, point d'héritage pour nous avec le fils d'Isaï! Chacun à sa tente, Israël! (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐκει̃ ἐπικαλούμενος υἱὸς παράνομος καὶ ὄνομα αὐτω̨̃ Σαβεε υἱὸς Βοχορι ἀνὴρ ὁ Ιεμενι καὶ ἐσάλπισεν ἐν τη̨̃ κερατίνη̨ καὶ εἰ̃πεν οὐκ ἔστιν ἡμι̃ν μερὶς ἐν Δαυιδ οὐδὲ κληρονομία ἡμι̃ν ἐν τω̨̃ υἱω̨̃ Ιεσσαι ἀνὴρ εἰς τὰ σκηνώματά σου Ισραηλ (Ⅲ)

- Accidit quoque ut ibi esset vir Belial, nomine Seba, filius Bochri, vir Jemineus : et cecinit buccina, et ait : Non est nobis pars in David, neque hæreditas in filio Isai : revertere in tabernacula tua, Israël. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 1 ׃20 ושם נקרא איש בליעל ושמו שבע בן בכרי איש ימיני ויתקע בשפר ויאמר אין לנו חלק בדוד ולא נחלה לנו בבן ישי איש לאהליו ישראל ‬ (Ⅴ)

20. 2

So every man of Israel went up from after David, and followed Sheba the son of Bichri: but the men of Judah clave unto their king, from Jordan even to Jerusalem.

- Et tous les hommes d'Israël s'éloignèrent de David, et suivirent Schéba, fils de Bicri. Mais les hommes de Juda restèrent fidèles à leur roi, et l'accompagnèrent depuis le Jourdain jusqu'à Jérusalem. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀνέβη πα̃ς ἀνὴρ Ισραηλ ἀπὸ ὄπισθεν Δαυιδ ὀπίσω Σαβεε υἱου̃ Βοχορι καὶ ἀνὴρ Ιουδα ἐκολλήθη τω̨̃ βασιλει̃ αὐτω̃ν ἀπὸ του̃ Ιορδάνου καὶ ἕως Ιερουσαλημ (Ⅲ)

- Et separatus est omnis Israël a David, secutusque est Seba filium Bochri : viri autem Juda adhæserunt regi suo a Jordane usque Jerusalem. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 2 ׃20 ויעל כל איש ישראל מאחרי דוד אחרי שבע בן בכרי ואיש יהודה דבקו במלכם מן הירדן ועד ירושלם ‬ (Ⅴ)

20. 3

And David came to his house at Jerusalem; and the king took the ten women his concubines, whom he had left to keep the house, and put them in ward, and fed them, but went not in unto them. So they were shut up unto the day of their death, living in widowhood.

- David rentra dans sa maison à Jérusalem. Le roi prit les dix concubines qu'il avait laissées pour garder la maison, et il les mit dans un lieu où elles étaient séquestrées; il pourvut à leur entretien, mais il n'alla point vers elles. Et elles furent enfermées jusqu'au jour de leur mort, vivant dans un état de veuvage. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰση̃λθεν Δαυιδ εἰς τὸν οἰ̃κον αὐτου̃ εἰς Ιερουσαλημ καὶ ἔλαβεν ὁ βασιλεὺς τὰς δέκα γυναι̃κας τὰς παλλακὰς αὐτου̃ ἃς ἀφη̃κεν φυλάσσειν τὸν οἰ̃κον καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτὰς ἐν οἴκω̨ φυλακη̃ς καὶ διέθρεψεν αὐτὰς καὶ πρὸς αὐτὰς οὐκ εἰση̃λθεν καὶ ἠ̃σαν συνεχόμεναι ἕως ἡμέρας θανάτου αὐτω̃ν χη̃ραι ζω̃σαι (Ⅲ)

- Cumque venisset rex in domum suam in Jerusalem, tulit decem mulieres concubinas quas dereliquerat ad custodiendam domum, et tradidit eas in custodiam, alimenta eis præbens : et non est ingressus ad eas, sed erant clausæ usque in diem mortis suæ in viduitate viventes. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 3 ׃20 ויבא דוד אל ביתו ירושלם ויקח המלך את עשר נשים פלגשים אשר הניח לשמר הבית ויתנם בית משמרת ויכלכלם ואליהם לא בא ותהיינה צררות עד יום מתן אלמנות חיות ס‬ (Ⅴ)

20. 4

Then said the king to Amasa, Assemble me the men of Judah within three days, and be thou here present.

- Le roi dit à Amasa: Convoque-moi d'ici à trois jours les hommes de Juda; et toi, sois ici présent. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν ὁ βασιλεὺς πρὸς Αμεσσαϊ βόησόν μοι τὸν ἄνδρα Ιουδα τρει̃ς ἡμέρας σὺ δὲ αὐτου̃ στη̃θι (Ⅲ)

- Dixit autem rex Amasæ : Convoca mihi omnes viros Juda in diem tertium, et tu adesto præsens. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 4 ׃20 ויאמר המלך אל עמשא הזעק לי את איש יהודה שלשת ימים ואתה פה עמד ‬ (Ⅴ)

20. 5

So Amasa went to assemble the men of Judah: but he tarried longer than the set time which he had appointed him.

- Amasa partit pour convoquer Juda; mais il tarda au delà du temps que le roi avait fixé. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐπορεύθη Αμεσσαϊ του̃ βοη̃σαι τὸν Ιουδαν καὶ ἐχρόνισεν ἀπὸ του̃ καιρου̃ οὑ̃ ἐτάξατο αὐτω̨̃ Δαυιδ (Ⅲ)

- Abiit ergo Amasa ut convocaret Judam, et moratus est extra placitum quod ei constituerat rex. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 5 ׃20 וילך עמשא להזעיק את יהודה *וייחר **ויוחר מן המועד אשר יעדו ס‬ (Ⅴ)

20. 6

And David said to Abishai, Now shall Sheba the son of Bichri do us more harm than did Absalom: take thou thy lord's servants, and pursue after him, lest he get him fenced cities, and escape us.

- David dit alors à Abischaï: Schéba, fils de Bicri, va maintenant nous faire plus de mal qu'Absalom. Prends toi-même les serviteurs de ton maître et poursuis-le, de peur qu'il ne trouve des villes fortes et ne se dérobe à nos yeux. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Δαυιδ πρὸς Αβεσσα νυ̃ν κακοποιήσει ἡμα̃ς Σαβεε υἱὸς Βοχορι ὑπὲρ Αβεσσαλωμ καὶ νυ̃ν σὺ λαβὲ μετὰ σεαυτου̃ τοὺς παι̃δας του̃ κυρίου σου καὶ καταδίωξον ὀπίσω αὐτου̃ μήποτε ἑαυτω̨̃ εὕρη̨ πόλεις ὀχυρὰς καὶ σκιάσει τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς ἡμω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Ait autem David ad Abisai : Nunc magis afflicturus est nos Seba filius Bochri quam Absalom : tolle igitur servos domini tui, et persequere eum, ne forte inveniat civitates munitas, et effugiat nos. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 6 ׃20 ויאמר דוד אל אבישי עתה ירע לנו שבע בן בכרי מן אבשלום אתה קח את עבדי אדניך ורדף אחריו פן מצא לו ערים בצרות והציל עיננו ‬ (Ⅴ)

20. 7

And there went out after him Joab's men, and the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, and all the mighty men: and they went out of Jerusalem, to pursue after Sheba the son of Bichri.

- Et Abischaï partit, suivi des gens de Joab, des Kéréthiens et des Péléthiens, et de tous les vaillants hommes; ils sortirent de Jérusalem, afin de poursuivre Schéba, fils de Bicri. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐξη̃λθον ὀπίσω αὐτου̃ οἱ ἄνδρες Ιωαβ καὶ ὁ Χερεθθι καὶ ὁ Φελεθθι καὶ πάντες οἱ δυνατοὶ καὶ ἐξη̃λθαν ἐξ Ιερουσαλημ διω̃ξαι ὀπίσω Σαβεε υἱου̃ Βοχορι (Ⅲ)

- Egressi sunt ergo cum eo viri Joab, Cerethi quoque et Phelethi : et omnes robusti exierunt de Jerusalem ad persequendum Seba filium Bochri. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 7 ׃20 ויצאו אחריו אנשי יואב והכרתי והפלתי וכל הגברים ויצאו מירושלם לרדף אחרי שבע בן בכרי ‬ (Ⅴ)

20. 8

When they were at the great stone which is in Gibeon, Amasa went before them. And Joab's garment that he had put on was girded unto him, and upon it a girdle with a sword fastened upon his loins in the sheath thereof; and as he went forth it fell out.

- Lorsqu'ils furent près de la grande pierre qui est à Gabaon, Amasa arriva devant eux. Joab était ceint d'une épée par-dessus les habits dont il était revêtu; elle était attachée à ses reins dans le fourreau, d'où elle glissa, comme Joab s'avançait. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ αὐτοὶ παρὰ τω̨̃ λίθω̨ τω̨̃ μεγάλω̨ τω̨̃ ἐν Γαβαων καὶ Αμεσσαϊ εἰση̃λθεν ἔμπροσθεν αὐτω̃ν καὶ Ιωαβ περιεζωσμένος μανδύαν τὸ ἔνδυμα αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐπ' αὐτω̨̃ περιεζωσμένος μάχαιραν ἐζευγμένην ἐπὶ τη̃ς ὀσφύος αὐτου̃ ἐν κολεω̨̃ αὐτη̃ς καὶ ἡ μάχαιρα ἐξη̃λθεν καὶ ἔπεσεν (Ⅲ)

- Cumque illi essent juxta lapidem grandem qui est in Gabaon, Amasa veniens occurrit eis. Porro Joab vestitus erat tunica stricta ad mensuram habitus sui, et desuper accinctus gladio dependente usque ad ilia, in vagina, qui fabricatus levi motu egredi poterat, et percutere. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 8 ׃20 הם עם האבן הגדולה אשר בגבעון ועמשא בא לפניהם ויואב חגור מדו לבשו *ועלו **ועליו חגור חרב מצמדת על מתניו בתערה והוא יצא ותפל ס‬ (Ⅴ)

20. 9

And Joab said to Amasa, Art thou in health, my brother? And Joab took Amasa by the beard with the right hand to kiss him.

- Joab dit à Amasa: Te portes-tu bien, mon frère? Et de la main droite il saisit la barbe d'Amasa pour le baiser. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ιωαβ τω̨̃ Αμεσσαϊ εἰ ὑγιαίνεις σύ ἀδελφέ καὶ ἐκράτησεν ἡ χεὶρ ἡ δεξιὰ Ιωαβ του̃ πώγωνος Αμεσσαϊ του̃ καταφιλη̃σαι αὐτόν (Ⅲ)

- Dixit itaque Joab ad Amasam : Salve mi frater. Et tenuit manu dextera mentum Amasæ, quasi osculans eum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 9 ׃20 ויאמר יואב לעמשא השלום אתה אחי ותחז יד ימין יואב בזקן עמשא לנשק לו ‬ (Ⅴ)

20. 10

But Amasa took no heed to the sword that was in Joab's hand: so he smote him therewith in the fifth rib, and shed out his bowels to the ground, and struck him not again; and he died. So Joab and Abishai his brother pursued after Sheba the son of Bichri.

- Amasa ne prit point garde à l'épée qui était dans la main de Joab; et Joab l'en frappa au ventre et répandit ses entrailles à terre, sans lui porter un second coup. Et Amasa mourut. Joab et son frère Abischaï marchèrent à la poursuite de Schéba, fils de Bicri. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ Αμεσσαϊ οὐκ ἐφυλάξατο τὴν μάχαιραν τὴν ἐν τη̨̃ χειρὶ Ιωαβ καὶ ἔπαισεν αὐτὸν ἐν αὐτη̨̃ Ιωαβ εἰς τὴν ψόαν καὶ ἐξεχύθη ἡ κοιλία αὐτου̃ εἰς τὴν γη̃ν καὶ οὐκ ἐδευτέρωσεν αὐτω̨̃ καὶ ἀπέθανεν καὶ Ιωαβ καὶ Αβεσσα ὁ ἀδελφὸς αὐτου̃ ἐδίωξεν ὀπίσω Σαβεε υἱου̃ Βοχορι (Ⅲ)

- Porro Amasa non observavit gladium quem habebat Joab : qui percussit eum in latere, et effudit intestina ejus in terram, nec secundum vulnus apposuit : et mortuus est. Joab autem, et Abisai frater ejus, persecuti sunt Seba filium Bochri. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 10 ׃20 ועמשא לא נשמר בחרב אשר ביד יואב ויכהו בה אל החמש וישפך מעיו ארצה ולא שנה לו וימת סויואב ואבישי אחיו רדף אחרי שבע בן בכרי ‬ (Ⅴ)

20. 11

And one of Joab's men stood by him, and said, He that favoreth Joab, and he that is for David, let him go after Joab.

- Un homme d'entre les gens de Joab resta près d'Amasa, et il disait: Qui veut de Joab et qui est pour David? Qu'il suive Joab! (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀνὴρ ἔστη ἐπ' αὐτὸν τω̃ν παιδαρίων Ιωαβ καὶ εἰ̃πεν τίς ὁ βουλόμενος Ιωαβ καὶ τίς του̃ Δαυιδ ὀπίσω Ιωαβ (Ⅲ)

- Interea quidam viri, cum stetissent juxta cadaver Amasæ, de sociis Joab, dixerunt : Ecce qui esse voluit pro Joab comes David. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 11 ׃20 ואיש עמד עליו מנערי יואב ויאמר מי אשר חפץ ביואב ומי אשר לדוד אחרי יואב ‬ (Ⅴ)

20. 12

And Amasa wallowed in blood in the midst of the highway. And when the man saw that all the people stood still, he removed Amasa out of the highway into the field, and cast a cloth upon him, when he saw that every one that came by him stood still.

- Amasa se roulait dans le sang au milieu de la route; et cet homme, ayant vu que tout le peuple s'arrêtait, poussa Amasa hors de la route dans un champ, et jeta sur lui un vêtement, lorsqu'il vit que tous ceux qui arrivaient près de lui s'arrêtaient. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ Αμεσσαϊ πεφυρμένος ἐν τω̨̃ αἵματι ἐν μέσω̨ τη̃ς τρίβου καὶ εἰ̃δεν ὁ ἀνὴρ ὅτι εἱστήκει πα̃ς ὁ λαός καὶ ἀπέστρεψεν τὸν Αμεσσαϊ ἐκ τη̃ς τρίβου εἰς ἀγρὸν καὶ ἐπέρριψεν ἐπ' αὐτὸν ἱμάτιον καθότι εἰ̃δεν πάντα τὸν ἐρχόμενον ἐπ' αὐτὸν ἑστηκότα (Ⅲ)

- Amasa autem conspersus sanguine jacebat in media via. Vidit hoc quidam vir, quod subsisteret omnis populus ad videndum eum, et amovit Amasam de via in agrum, operuitque eum vestimento, ne subsisterent transeuntes propter eum.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 12 ׃20 ועמשא מתגלל בדם בתוך המסלה‪[p]‬ וירא האיש כי עמד כל העם ויסב את עמשא מן המסלה השדה וישלך עליו בגד כאשר ראה כל הבא עליו ועמד ‬ (Ⅴ)

20. 13

When he was removed out of the highway, all the people went on after Joab, to pursue after Sheba the son of Bichri.

- Quand il fut ôté de la route, chacun suivit Joab, afin de poursuivre Schéba, fils de Bicri. (Ⅱ)

- ἡνίκα δὲ ἔφθασεν ἐκ τη̃ς τρίβου παρη̃λθεν πα̃ς ἀνὴρ Ισραηλ ὀπίσω Ιωαβ του̃ διω̃ξαι ὀπίσω Σαβεε υἱου̃ Βοχορι (Ⅲ)

- Amoto ergo illo de via, transibat omnis vir sequens Joab ad persequendum Seba filium Bochri. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 13 ׃20 כאשר הגה מן המסלה עבר כל איש אחרי יואב לרדף אחרי שבע בן בכרי ‬ (Ⅴ)

20. 14

And he went through all the tribes of Israel unto Abel, and to Bethmaachah, and all the Berites: and they were gathered together, and went also after him.

- Joab traversa toutes les tribus d'Israël dans la direction d'Abel Beth Maaca, et tous les hommes d'élite se rassemblèrent et le suivirent. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ διη̃λθεν ἐν πάσαις φυλαι̃ς Ισραηλ εἰς Αβελ καὶ εἰς Βαιθμαχα καὶ πάντες ἐν Χαρρι καὶ ἐξεκκλησιάσθησαν καὶ ἠ̃λθον κατόπισθεν αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Porro ille transierat per omnes tribus Israël in Abelam et Bethmaacha : omnesque viri electi congregati fuerant ad eum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 14 ׃20 ויעבר בכל שבטי ישראל אבלה ובית מעכה וכל הברים ס*ויקלהו **ויקהלו ויבאו אף אחריו ‬ (Ⅴ)

20. 15

And they came and besieged him in Abel of Bethmaachah, and they cast up a bank against the city, and it stood in the trench: and all the people that were with Joab battered the wall, to throw it down.

- Ils vinrent assiéger Schéba dans Abel Beth Maaca, et ils élevèrent contre la ville une terrasse qui atteignait le rempart. Tout le peuple qui était avec Joab sapait la muraille pour la faire tomber. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ παρεγενήθησαν καὶ ἐπολιόρκουν ἐπ' αὐτὸν τὴν Αβελ καὶ τὴν Βαιθμαχα καὶ ἐξέχεαν πρόσχωμα πρὸς τὴν πόλιν καὶ ἔστη ἐν τω̨̃ προτειχίσματι καὶ πα̃ς ὁ λαὸς ὁ μετὰ Ιωαβ ἐνοου̃σαν καταβαλει̃ν τὸ τει̃χος (Ⅲ)

- Venerunt itaque, et oppugnabant eum in Abela et in Bethmaacha, et circumdederunt munitionibus civitatem, et obsessa est urbs : omnis autem turba quæ erat cum Joab, moliebatur destruere muros. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 15 ׃20 ויבאו ויצרו עליו באבלה בית המעכה וישפכו סללה אל העיר ותעמד בחל וכל העם אשר את יואב משחיתם להפיל החומה ‬ (Ⅴ)

20. 16

Then cried a wise woman out of the city, Hear, hear; say, I pray you, unto Joab, Come near hither, that I may speak with thee.

- Alors une femme habile se mit à crier de la ville: Écoutez, écoutez! Dites, je vous prie, à Joab: Approche jusqu'ici, je veux te parler! (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐβόησεν γυνὴ σοφὴ ἐκ του̃ τείχους καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἀκούσατε ἀκούσατε εἴπατε δὴ πρὸς Ιωαβ ἔγγισον ἕως ὡ̃δε καὶ λαλήσω πρὸς αὐτόν (Ⅲ)

- Et exclamavit mulier sapiens de civitate : Audite, audite : dicite Joab : Appropinqua huc, et loquar tecum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 16 ׃20 ותקרא אשה חכמה מן העיר שמעו שמעו אמרו נא אל יואב קרב עד הנה ואדברה אליך ‬ (Ⅴ)

20. 17

And when he was come near unto her, the woman said, Art thou Joab? And he answered, I am he. Then she said unto him, Hear the words of thine handmaid. And he answered, I do hear.

- Il s'approcha d'elle, et la femme dit: Es-tu Joab? Il répondit: Je le suis. Et elle lui dit: Écoute les paroles de ta servante. Il répondit: J'écoute. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ προσήγγισεν πρὸς αὐτήν καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἡ γυνή εἰ σὺ εἰ̃ Ιωαβ ὁ δὲ εἰ̃πεν ἐγώ εἰ̃πεν δὲ αὐτω̨̃ ἄκουσον τοὺς λόγους τη̃ς δούλης σου καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ιωαβ ἀκούω ἐγώ εἰμι (Ⅲ)

- Qui cum accessisset ad eam, ait illi : Tu es Joab ? Et ille respondit : Ego. Ad quem sic locuta est : Audi sermones ancillæ tuæ. Qui respondit : Audio. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 17 ׃20 ויקרב אליה ותאמר האשה האתה יואב ויאמר אני ותאמר לו שמע דברי אמתך ויאמר שמע אנכי ‬ (Ⅴ)

20. 18

Then she spake, saying, They were wont to speak in old time, saying, They shall surely ask counsel at Abel: and so they ended the matter.

- Et elle dit: Autrefois on avait coutume de dire: Que l'on consulte Abel! Et tout se terminait ainsi. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν λέγουσα λόγον ἐλάλησαν ἐν πρώτοις λέγοντες ἠρωτημένος ἠρωτήθη ἐν τη̨̃ Αβελ καὶ ἐν Δαν εἰ ἐξέλιπον ἃ ἔθεντο οἱ πιστοὶ του̃ Ισραηλ ἐρωτω̃ντες ἐπερωτήσουσιν ἐν Αβελ καὶ οὕτως εἰ ἐξέλιπον (Ⅲ)

- Rursumque illa : Sermo, inquit, dicebatur in veteri proverbio : Qui interrogant, interrogent in Abela : et sic perficiebant. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 18 ׃20 ותאמר לאמר דבר ידברו בראשנה לאמר שאל ישאלו באבל וכן התמו ‬ (Ⅴ)

20. 19

I am one of them that are peaceable and faithful in Israel: thou seekest to destroy a city and a mother in Israel: why wilt thou swallow up the inheritance of the LORD?

- Je suis une des villes paisibles et fidèles en Israël; et tu cherches à faire périr une ville qui est une mère en Israël! Pourquoi détruirais-tu l'héritage de l'Éternel? (Ⅱ)

- ἐγώ εἰμι εἰρηνικὰ τω̃ν στηριγμάτων Ισραηλ σὺ δὲ ζητει̃ς θανατω̃σαι πόλιν καὶ μητρόπολιν ἐν Ισραηλ ἵνα τί καταποντίζεις κληρονομίαν κυρίου (Ⅲ)

- Nonne ego sum quæ respondeo veritatem in Israël, et tu quæris subvertere civitatem et evertere matrem in Israël ? quare præcipitas hæreditatem Domini ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 19 ׃20 אנכי שלמי אמוני ישראל אתה מבקש להמית עיר ואם בישראל למה תבלע נחלת יהוה פ‬ (Ⅴ)

20. 20

And Joab answered and said, Far be it, far be it from me, that I should swallow up or destroy.

- Joab répondit: Loin, loin de moi la pensée de détruire et de ruiner! (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀπεκρίθη Ιωαβ καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἵλεώς μοι ἵλεώς μοι εἰ καταποντιω̃ καὶ εἰ διαφθερω̃ (Ⅲ)

- Respondensque Joab, ait : Absit, absit hoc a me : non præcipito, neque demolior. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 20 ׃20 ויען יואב ויאמר חלילה חלילה לי אם אבלע ואם אשחית ‬ (Ⅴ)

20. 21

The matter is not so: but a man of mount Ephraim, Sheba the son of Bichri by name, hath lifted up his hand against the king, even against David: deliver him only, and I will depart from the city. And the woman said unto Joab, Behold, his head shall be thrown to thee over the wall.

- La chose n'est pas ainsi. Mais un homme de la montagne d'Éphraïm, nommé Schéba, fils de Bicri, a levé la main contre le roi David; livrez-le, lui seul, et je m'éloignerai de la ville. La femme dit à Joab: Voici, sa tête te sera jetée par la muraille. (Ⅱ)

- οὐχ οὑ̃τος ὁ λόγος ὅτι ἀνὴρ ἐξ ὄρους Εφραιμ Σαβεε υἱὸς Βοχορι ὄνομα αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐπη̃ρεν τὴν χει̃ρα αὐτου̃ ἐπὶ τὸν βασιλέα Δαυιδ δότε αὐτόν μοι μόνον καὶ ἀπελεύσομαι ἀπάνωθεν τη̃ς πόλεως καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἡ γυνὴ πρὸς Ιωαβ ἰδοὺ ἡ κεφαλὴ αὐτου̃ ῥιφήσεται πρὸς σὲ διὰ του̃ τείχους (Ⅲ)

- Non sic se habet res, sed homo de monte Ephraim, Seba filius Bochri cognomine, levavit manum suam contra regem David : tradite illum solum, et recedemus a civitate. Et ait mulier ad Joab : Ecce caput ejus mittetur ad te per murum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 21 ׃20 לא כן הדבר כי איש מהר אפרים שבע בן בכרי שמו נשא ידו במלך בדוד תנו אתו לבדו ואלכה מעל העיר ותאמר האשה אל יואב הנה ראשו משלך אליך בעד החומה ‬ (Ⅴ)

20. 22

Then the woman went unto all the people in her wisdom. And they cut off the head of Sheba the son of Bichri, and cast it out to Joab. And he blew a trumpet, and they retired from the city, every man to his tent. And Joab returned to Jerusalem unto the king.

- Et la femme alla vers tout le peuple avec sa sagesse; et ils coupèrent la tête à Schéba, fils de Bicri, et la jetèrent à Joab. Joab sonna de la trompette; on se dispersa loin de la ville, et chacun s'en alla dans sa tente. Et Joab retourna à Jérusalem, vers le roi. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰση̃λθεν ἡ γυνὴ πρὸς πάντα τὸν λαὸν καὶ ἐλάλησεν πρὸς πα̃σαν τὴν πόλιν ἐν τη̨̃ σοφία̨ αὐτη̃ς καὶ ἀφει̃λεν τὴν κεφαλὴν Σαβεε υἱου̃ Βοχορι καὶ ἔβαλεν πρὸς Ιωαβ καὶ ἐσάλπισεν ἐν κερατίνη̨ καὶ διεσπάρησαν ἀπὸ τη̃ς πόλεως ἀνὴρ εἰς τὰ σκηνώματα αὐτου̃ καὶ Ιωαβ ἀπέστρεψεν εἰς Ιερουσαλημ πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα (Ⅲ)

- Ingressa est ergo ad omnem populum, et locuta est eis sapienter : qui abscissum caput Seba filii Bochri projecerunt ad Joab. Et ille cecinit tuba, et recesserunt ab urbe, unusquisque in tabernacula sua : Joab autem reversus est Jerusalem ad regem. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 22 ׃20 ותבוא האשה אל כל העם בחכמתה ויכרתו את ראש שבע בן בכרי וישלכו אל יואב ויתקע בשופר ויפצו מעל העיר איש לאהליו ויואב שב ירושלם אל המלך ס‬ (Ⅴ)

20. 23

Now Joab was over all the host of Israel: and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and over the Pelethites:

- Joab commandait toute l'armée d'Israël; Benaja, fils de Jehojada, était à la tête des Kéréthiens et des Péléthiens; (Ⅱ)

- καὶ Ιωαβ πρὸς πάση̨ τη̨̃ δυνάμει Ισραηλ καὶ Βαναιας υἱὸς Ιωδαε ἐπὶ του̃ Χερεθθι καὶ ἐπὶ του̃ Φελεθθι (Ⅲ)

- Fuit ergo Joab super omnem exercitum Israël : Banaias autem filius Jojadæ super Cerethæos et Phelethæos : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 23 ׃20 ויואב אל כל הצבא ישראל ובניה בן יהוידע על *הכרי **הכרתי ועל הפלתי ‬ (Ⅴ)

20. 24

And Adoram was over the tribute: and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder:

- Adoram était préposé aux impôts; Josaphat, fils d'Achilud, était archiviste; (Ⅱ)

- καὶ Αδωνιραμ ἐπὶ του̃ φόρου καὶ Ιωσαφατ υἱὸς Αχιλουθ ἀναμιμνή̨σκων (Ⅲ)

- Aduram vero super tributa : porro Josaphat filius Ahilud, a commentariis : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 24 ׃20 ואדרם על המס ויהושפט בן אחילוד המזכיר ‬ (Ⅴ)

20. 25

And Sheva was scribe: and Zadok and Abiathar were the priests:

- Scheja était secrétaire; Tsadok et Abiathar étaient sacrificateurs; (Ⅱ)

- καὶ Σουσα γραμματεύς καὶ Σαδωκ καὶ Αβιαθαρ ἱερει̃ς (Ⅲ)

- Siva autem, scriba : Sadoc vero et Abiathar, sacerdotes. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 25 ׃20 *ושיא **ושוא ספר וצדוק ואביתר כהנים ‬ (Ⅴ)

20. 26

And Ira also the Jairite was a chief ruler about David.

- et Ira de Jaïr était ministre d'état de David. (Ⅱ)

- καί γε Ιρας ὁ Ιαριν ἠ̃ν ἱερεὺς του̃ Δαυιδ (Ⅲ)

- Ira autem Jairites erat sacerdos David. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 26 ׃20 וגם עירא היארי היה כהן לדוד ס‬ (Ⅴ)
