4. 1

And when Saul's son heard that Abner was dead in Hebron, his hands were feeble, and all the Israelites were troubled.

- Lorsque le fils de Saül apprit qu'Abner était mort à Hébron, ses mains restèrent sans force, et tout Israël fut dans l'épouvante. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἤκουσεν Μεμφιβοσθε υἱὸς Σαουλ ὅτι τέθνηκεν Αβεννηρ ἐν Χεβρων καὶ ἐξελύθησαν αἱ χει̃ρες αὐτου̃ καὶ πάντες οἱ ἄνδρες Ισραηλ παρείθησαν (Ⅲ)

- Audivit autem Isboseth filius Saul quod cecidisset Abner in Hebron : et dissolutæ sunt manus ejus, omnisque Israël perturbatus est. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 1 ׃4 וישמע בן שאול כי מת אבנר בחברון וירפו ידיו וכל ישראל נבהלו ‬ (Ⅴ)

4. 2

And Saul's son had two men that were captains of bands: the name of the one was Baanah, and the name of the other Rechab, the sons of Rimmon a Beerothite, of the children of Benjamin: (for Beeroth also was reckoned to Benjamin.

- Le fils de Saül avait deux chefs de bandes, dont l'un s'appelait Baana et l'autre Récab; ils étaient fils de Rimmon de Beéroth, d'entre les fils de Benjamin. -Car Beéroth était regardée comme faisant partie de Benjamin, (Ⅱ)

- καὶ δύο ἄνδρες ἡγούμενοι συστρεμμάτων τω̨̃ Μεμφιβοσθε υἱω̨̃ Σαουλ ὄνομα τω̨̃ ἑνὶ Βαανα καὶ ὄνομα τω̨̃ δευτέρω̨ Ρηχαβ υἱοὶ Ρεμμων του̃ Βηρωθαίου ἐκ τω̃ν υἱω̃ν Βενιαμιν ὅτι Βηρωθ ἐλογίζετο τοι̃ς υἱοι̃ς Βενιαμιν (Ⅲ)

- Duo autem viri principes latronum erant filio Saul, nomen uni Baana, et nomen alteri Rechab, filii Remmon Berothitæ de filiis Benjamin : siquidem et Beroth reputata est in Benjamin. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 2 ׃4 ושני אנשים שרי גדודים היו בן שאול שם האחד בענה ושם השני רכב בני רמון הבארתי מבני בנימן כי גם בארות תחשב על בנימן ‬ (Ⅴ)

And the Beerothites fled to Gittaim, and were sojourners there until this day.)

- et les Beérothiens s'étaient enfuis à Guitthaïm, où ils ont habité jusqu'à ce jour. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀπέδρασαν οἱ Βηρωθαι̃οι εἰς Γεθθαιμ καὶ ἠ̃σαν ἐκει̃ παροικου̃ντες ἕως τη̃ς ἡμέρας ταύτης (Ⅲ)

- Et fugerunt Berothitæ in Gethaim, fueruntque ibi advenæ usque ad tempus illud. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 3 ׃4 ויברחו הבארתים גתימה ויהיו שם גרים עד היום הזה ס‬ (Ⅴ)

4. 4

And Jonathan, Saul's son, had a son that was lame of his feet. He was five years old when the tidings came of Saul and Jonathan out of Jezreel, and his nurse took him up, and fled: and it came to pass, as she made haste to flee, that he fell, and became lame. And his name was Mephibosheth.

- Jonathan, fils de Saül, avait un fils perclus des pieds; et âgé de cinq ans lorsqu'arriva de Jizreel la nouvelle de la mort de Saül et de Jonathan; sa nourrice le prit et s'enfuit, et, comme elle précipitait sa fuite, il tomba et resta boiteux; son nom était Mephiboscheth. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ τω̨̃ Ιωναθαν υἱω̨̃ Σαουλ υἱὸς πεπληγὼς τοὺς πόδας υἱὸς ἐτω̃ν πέντε οὑ̃τος ἐν τω̨̃ ἐλθει̃ν τὴν ἀγγελίαν Σαουλ καὶ Ιωναθαν του̃ υἱου̃ αὐτου̃ ἐξ Ιεζραελ καὶ ἠ̃ρεν αὐτὸν ἡ τιθηνὸς αὐτου̃ καὶ ἔφυγεν καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τω̨̃ σπεύδειν αὐτὴν καὶ ἀναχωρει̃ν καὶ ἔπεσεν καὶ ἐχωλάνθη καὶ ὄνομα αὐτω̨̃ Μεμφιβοσθε (Ⅲ)

- Erat autem Jonathæ filio Saul filius debilis pedibus : quinquennis enim fuit, quando venit nuntius de Saul et Jonatha ex Jezrahel. Tollens itaque eum nutrix sua, fugit : cumque festinaret ut fugeret, cecidit, et claudus effectus est : habuitque vocabulum Miphiboseth. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 4 ׃4 וליהונתן בן שאול בן נכה רגלים בן חמש שנים היה בבא שמעת שאול ויהונתן מיזרעאל ותשאהו אמנתו ותנס ויהי בחפזה לנוס ויפל ויפסח ושמו מפיבשת ‬ (Ⅴ)

And the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, went, and came about the heat of the day to the house of Ishbosheth, who lay on a bed at noon.

- Or les fils de Rimmon de Beéroth, Récab et Baana, se rendirent pendant la chaleur du jour à la maison d'Isch Boscheth, qui était couché pour son repos de midi. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐπορεύθησαν υἱοὶ Ρεμμων του̃ Βηρωθαίου Ρεκχα καὶ Βαανα καὶ εἰση̃λθον ἐν τω̨̃ καύματι τη̃ς ἡμέρας εἰς οἰ̃κον Μεμφιβοσθε καὶ αὐτὸς ἐκάθευδεν ἐν τη̨̃ κοίτη̨ τη̃ς μεσημβρίας (Ⅲ)

- Venientes igitur filii Remmon Berothitæ, Rechab et Baana, ingressi sunt fervente die domum Isboseth : qui dormiebat super stratum suum meridie. Et ostiaria domus purgans triticum, obdormivit. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 5 ׃4 וילכו בני רמון הבארתי רכב ובענה ויבאו כחם היום אל בית איש בשת והוא שכב את משכב הצהרים ‬ (Ⅴ)

4. 6

And they came thither into the midst of the house, as though they would have fetched wheat; and they smote him under the fifth rib: and Rechab and Baanah his brother escaped.

- Ils pénétrèrent jusqu'au milieu de la maison, comme pour prendre du froment, et ils le frappèrent au ventre; puis Récab et Baana, son frère, se sauvèrent. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἰδοὺ ἡ θυρωρὸς του̃ οἴκου ἐκάθαιρεν πυροὺς καὶ ἐνύσταξεν καὶ ἐκάθευδεν καὶ Ρεκχα καὶ Βαανα οἱ ἀδελφοὶ διέλαθον (Ⅲ)

- Ingressi sunt autem domum latenter assumentes spicas tritici, et percusserunt eum in inguine Rechab, et Baana frater ejus, et fugerunt. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 6 ׃4 והנה באו עד תוך הבית לקחי חטים ויכהו אל החמש ורכב ובענה אחיו נמלטו ‬ (Ⅴ)

4. 7

For when they came into the house, he lay on his bed in his bedchamber, and they smote him, and slew him, and beheaded him, and took his head, and gat them away through the plain all night.

- Ils entrèrent donc dans la maison pendant qu'il reposait sur son lit dans sa chambre à coucher, ils le frappèrent et le firent mourir, et ils lui coupèrent la tête. Ils prirent sa tête, et ils marchèrent toute la nuit au travers de la plaine. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰση̃λθον εἰς τὸν οἰ̃κον καὶ Μεμφιβοσθε ἐκάθευδεν ἐπὶ τη̃ς κλίνης αὐτου̃ ἐν τω̨̃ κοιτω̃νι αὐτου̃ καὶ τύπτουσιν αὐτὸν καὶ θανατου̃σιν καὶ ἀφαιρου̃σιν τὴν κεφαλὴν αὐτου̃ καὶ ἔλαβον τὴν κεφαλὴν αὐτου̃ καὶ ἀπη̃λθον ὁδὸν τὴν κατὰ δυσμὰς ὅλην τὴν νύκτα (Ⅲ)

- Cum autem ingressi fuissent domum, ille dormiebat super lectum suum in conclavi, et percutientes interfecerunt eum : sublatoque capite ejus, abierunt per viam deserti tota nocte, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 7 ׃4 ויבאו הבית והוא שכב על מטתו בחדר משכבו ויכהו וימתהו ויסירו את ראשו ויקחו את ראשו וילכו דרך הערבה כל הלילה ‬ (Ⅴ)

4. 8

And they brought the head of Ishbosheth unto David to Hebron, and said to the king, Behold the head of Ishbosheth the son of Saul thine enemy, which sought thy life; and the LORD hath avenged my lord the king this day of Saul, and of his seed.

- Ils apportèrent la tête d'Isch Boscheth à David dans Hébron, et ils dirent au roi: Voici la tête d'Isch Boscheth, fils de Saül, ton ennemi, qui en voulait à ta vie; l'Éternel venge aujourd'hui le roi mon seigneur de Saül et de sa race. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἤνεγκαν τὴν κεφαλὴν Μεμφιβοσθε τω̨̃ Δαυιδ εἰς Χεβρων καὶ εἰ̃παν πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα ἰδοὺ ἡ κεφαλὴ Μεμφιβοσθε υἱου̃ Σαουλ του̃ ἐχθρου̃ σου ὃς ἐζήτει τὴν ψυχήν σου καὶ ἔδωκεν κύριος τω̨̃ κυρίω̨ βασιλει̃ ἐκδίκησιν τω̃ν ἐχθρω̃ν αὐτου̃ ὡς ἡ ἡμέρα αὕτη ἐκ Σαουλ του̃ ἐχθρου̃ σου καὶ ἐκ του̃ σπέρματος αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- et attulerunt caput Isboseth ad David in Hebron : dixeruntque ad regem : Ecce caput Isboseth filii Saul inimici tui, qui quærebat animam tuam : et dedit Dominus domino meo regi ultionem hodie de Saul, et de semine ejus.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 8 ׃4 ויבאו את ראש איש בשת אל דוד חברון ויאמרו אל המלך הנה ראש איש בשת בן שאול איבך אשר בקש את נפשך ויתן יהוה לאדני המלך נקמות היום הזה משאול ומזרעו ס‬ (Ⅴ)

4. 9

And David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and said unto them, As the LORD liveth, who hath redeemed my soul out of all adversity,

- David répondit à Récab et à Baana, son frère, fils de Rimmon de Beéroth: L'Éternel qui m'a délivré de tout péril est vivant! (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀπεκρίθη Δαυιδ τω̨̃ Ρεκχα καὶ τω̨̃ Βαανα ἀδελφω̨̃ αὐτου̃ υἱοι̃ς Ρεμμων του̃ Βηρωθαίου καὶ εἰ̃πεν αὐτοι̃ς ζη̨̃ κύριος ὃς ἐλυτρώσατο τὴν ψυχήν μου ἐκ πάσης θλίψεως (Ⅲ)

- Respondens autem David Rechab, et Baana fratri ejus, filiis Remmon Berothitæ, dixit ad eos : Vivit Dominus, qui eruit animam meam de omni angustia, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 9 ׃4 ויען דוד את רכב ואת בענה אחיו בני רמון הבארתי ויאמר להם חי יהוה אשר פדה את נפשי מכל צרה ‬ (Ⅴ)

4. 10

When one told me, saying, Behold, Saul is dead, thinking to have brought good tidings, I took hold of him, and slew him in Ziklag, who thought that I would have given him a reward for his tidings:

- celui qui est venu me dire: Voici, Saül est mort, et qui croyait m'annoncer une bonne nouvelle, je l'ai fait saisir et tuer à Tsiklag, pour lui donner le salaire de son message; (Ⅱ)

- ὅτι ὁ ἀπαγγείλας μοι ὅτι τέθνηκεν Σαουλ καὶ αὐτὸς ἠ̃ν ὡς εὐαγγελιζόμενος ἐνώπιόν μου καὶ κατέσχον αὐτὸν καὶ ἀπέκτεινα ἐν Σεκελακ ὡ̨̃ ἔδει με δου̃ναι εὐαγγέλια (Ⅲ)

- quoniam eum qui annuntiaverat mihi, et dixerat : Mortuus est Saul : qui putabat se prospera nuntiare, tenui, et occidi eum in Siceleg, cui oportebat mercedem dare pro nuntio. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 10 ׃4 כי המגיד לי לאמר הנה מת שאול והוא היה כמבשר בעיניו ואחזה בו ואהרגהו בצקלג אשר לתתי לו בשרה ‬ (Ⅴ)

4. 11

How much more, when wicked men have slain a righteous person in his own house upon his bed? shall I not therefore now require his blood of your hand, and take you away from the earth?

- et quand des méchants ont assassiné un homme juste dans sa maison et sur sa couche, combien plus ne redemanderai-je pas son sang de vos mains et ne vous exterminerai-je pas de la terre? (Ⅱ)

- καὶ νυ̃ν ἄνδρες πονηροὶ ἀπεκτάγκασιν ἄνδρα δίκαιον ἐν τω̨̃ οἴκω̨ αὐτου̃ ἐπὶ τη̃ς κοίτης αὐτου̃ καὶ νυ̃ν ἐκζητήσω τὸ αἱ̃μα αὐτου̃ ἐκ χειρὸς ὑμω̃ν καὶ ἐξολεθρεύσω ὑμα̃ς ἐκ τη̃ς γη̃ς (Ⅲ)

- Quanto magis nunc cum homines impii interfecerunt virum innoxium in domo sua, super lectum suum, non quæram sanguinem ejus de manu vestra, et auferam vos de terra ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 11 ׃4 אף כי אנשים רשעים הרגו את איש צדיק בביתו על משכבו ועתה הלוא אבקש את דמו מידכם ובערתי אתכם מן הארץ ‬ (Ⅴ)

4. 12

And David commanded his young men, and they slew them, and cut off their hands and their feet, and hanged them up over the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ishbosheth, and buried it in the sepulchre of Abner in Hebron.

- Et David ordonna à ses gens de les tuer; ils leur coupèrent les mains et les pieds, et les pendirent au bord de l'étang d'Hébron. Ils prirent ensuite la tête d'Isch Boscheth, et l'enterrèrent dans le sépulcre d'Abner à Hébron. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐνετείλατο Δαυιδ τοι̃ς παιδαρίοις αὐτου̃ καὶ ἀποκτέννουσιν αὐτοὺς καὶ κολοβου̃σιν τὰς χει̃ρας αὐτω̃ν καὶ τοὺς πόδας αὐτω̃ν καὶ ἐκρέμασαν αὐτοὺς ἐπὶ τη̃ς κρήνης ἐν Χεβρων καὶ τὴν κεφαλὴν Μεμφιβοσθε ἔθαψαν ἐν τω̨̃ τάφω̨ Αβεννηρ υἱου̃ Νηρ (Ⅲ)

- Præcepit itaque David pueris suis, et interfecerunt eos : præcidentesque manus et pedes eorum, suspenderunt eos super piscinam in Hebron : caput autem Isboseth tulerunt, et sepelierunt in sepulchro Abner in Hebron. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 12 ׃4 ויצו דוד את הנערים ויהרגום ויקצצו את ידיהם ואת רגליהם ויתלו על הברכה בחברון ואת ראש איש בשת לקחו ויקברו בקבר אבנר בחברון פ‬ (Ⅴ)
