And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.
- Élie, le Thischbite, l'un des habitants de Galaad, dit à Achab: L'Éternel est vivant, le Dieu d'Israël, dont je suis le serviteur! il n'y aura ces années-ci ni rosée ni pluie, sinon à ma parole. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ηλιου ὁ προφήτης ὁ Θεσβίτης ἐκ Θεσβων τη̃ς Γαλααδ πρὸς Αχααβ ζη̨̃ κύριος ὁ θεὸς τω̃ν δυνάμεων ὁ θεὸς Ισραηλ ὡ̨̃ παρέστην ἐνώπιον αὐτου̃ εἰ ἔσται τὰ ἔτη ταυ̃τα δρόσος καὶ ὑετὸς ὅτι εἰ μὴ διὰ στόματος λόγου μου (Ⅲ) - Et dixit Elias Thesbites de habitatoribus Galaad ad Achab : Vivit Dominus Deus Israël, in cujus conspectu sto, si erit annis his ros et pluvia, nisi juxta oris mei verba. And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying,
- Et la parole de l'Éternel fut adressée à Élie, en ces mots: (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐγένετο ῥη̃μα κυρίου πρὸς Ηλιου (Ⅲ) - Et factum est verbum Domini ad eum, dicens : (Ⅳ) - 2 ׃17 ויהי דבר יהוה אליו לאמר (Ⅴ)

Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.
- Pars d'ici, dirige-toi vers l'orient, et cache-toi près du torrent de Kerith, qui est en face du Jourdain. (Ⅱ) - πορεύου ἐντευ̃θεν κατὰ ἀνατολὰς καὶ κρύβηθι ἐν τω̨̃ χειμάρρω̨ Χορραθ του̃ ἐπὶ προσώπου του̃ Ιορδάνου (Ⅲ) - Recede hinc, et vade contra orientem, et abscondere in torrente Carith, qui est contra Jordanem, (Ⅳ) - 3 ׃17 לך מזה ופנית לך קדמה ונסתרת בנחל כרית אשר על פני הירדן (Ⅴ)

And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.
- Tu boiras de l'eau du torrent, et j'ai ordonné aux corbeaux de te nourrir là. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔσται ἐκ του̃ χειμάρρου πίεσαι ὕδωρ καὶ τοι̃ς κόραξιν ἐντελου̃μαι διατρέφειν σε ἐκει̃ (Ⅲ) - et ibi de torrente bibes : corvisque præcepi ut pascant te ibi. (Ⅳ) - 4 ׃17 והיה מהנחל תשתה ואת הערבים צויתי לכלכלך שם (Ⅴ)

So he went and did according unto the word of the LORD: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.
- Il partit et fit selon la parole de l'Éternel, et il alla s'établir près du torrent de Kerith, qui est en face du Jourdain. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐποίησεν Ηλιου κατὰ τὸ ῥη̃μα κυρίου καὶ ἐκάθισεν ἐν τω̨̃ χειμάρρω̨ Χορραθ ἐπὶ προσώπου του̃ Ιορδάνου (Ⅲ) - Abiit ergo, et fecit juxta verbum Domini : cumque abiisset, sedit in torrente Carith, qui est contra Jordanem. (Ⅳ) - 5 ׃17 וילך ויעש כדבר יהוה וילך וישב בנחל כרית אשר על פני הירדן (Ⅴ)

And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.
- Les corbeaux lui apportaient du pain et de la viande le matin, et du pain et de la viande le soir, et il buvait de l'eau du torrent. (Ⅱ) - καὶ οἱ κόρακες ἔφερον αὐτω̨̃ ἄρτους τὸ πρωὶ καὶ κρέα τὸ δείλης καὶ ἐκ του̃ χειμάρρου ἔπινεν ὕδωρ (Ⅲ) - Corvi quoque deferebant ei panem et carnes mane, similiter panem et carnes vesperi, et bibebat de torrente. (Ⅳ) - 6 ׃17 והערבים מביאים לו לחם ובשר בבקר ולחם ובשר בערב ומן הנחל ישתה (Ⅴ)

And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.
- Mais au bout d'un certain temps le torrent fut à sec, car il n'était point tombé de pluie dans le pays. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐγένετο μετὰ ἡμέρας καὶ ἐξηράνθη ὁ χειμάρρους ὅτι οὐκ ἐγένετο ὑετὸς ἐπὶ τη̃ς γη̃ς (Ⅲ) - Post dies autem siccatus est torrens : non enim pluerat super terram.\ (Ⅳ) - 7 ׃17 ויהי מקץ ימים וייבש הנחל כי לא היה גשם בארץ ס (Ⅴ)

And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying,
- Alors la parole de l'Éternel lui fut adressée en ces mots: (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐγένετο ῥη̃μα κυρίου πρὸς Ηλιου (Ⅲ) - Factus est ergo sermo Domini ad eum, dicens : (Ⅳ) - 8 ׃17 ויהי דבר יהוה אליו לאמר (Ⅴ)

Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.
- Lève-toi, va à Sarepta, qui appartient à Sidon, et demeure là. Voici, j'y ai ordonné à une femme veuve de te nourrir. (Ⅱ) - ἀνάστηθι καὶ πορεύου εἰς Σαρεπτα τη̃ς Σιδωνίας ἰδοὺ ἐντέταλμαι ἐκει̃ γυναικὶ χήρα̨ του̃ διατρέφειν σε (Ⅲ) - Surge, et vade in Sarephta Sidoniorum, et manebis ibi : præcepi enim ibi mulieri viduæ ut pascat te. (Ⅳ) - 9 ׃17 קום לך צרפתה אשר לצידון וישבת שם הנה צויתי שם אשה אלמנה לכלכלך (Ⅴ)

So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.
- Il se leva, et il alla à Sarepta. Comme il arrivait à l'entrée de la ville, voici, il y avait là une femme veuve qui ramassait du bois. Il l'appela, et dit: Va me chercher, je te prie, un peu d'eau dans un vase, afin que je boive. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀνέστη καὶ ἐπορεύθη εἰς Σαρεπτα εἰς τὸν πυλω̃να τη̃ς πόλεως καὶ ἰδοὺ ἐκει̃ γυνὴ χήρα συνέλεγεν ξύλα καὶ ἐβόησεν ὀπίσω αὐτη̃ς Ηλιου καὶ εἰ̃πεν αὐτη̨̃ λαβὲ δή μοι ὀλίγον ὕδωρ εἰς ἄγγος καὶ πίομαι (Ⅲ) - Surrexit, et abiit in Sarephta. Cumque venisset ad portam civitatis, apparuit ei mulier vidua colligens ligna, et vocavit eam, dixitque ei : Da mihi paululum aquæ in vase ut bibam. (Ⅳ) - 10 ׃17 ויקם וילך צרפתה ויבא אל פתח העיר והנה שם אשה אלמנה מקששת עצים ויקרא אליה ויאמר קחי נא לי מעט מים בכלי ואשתה (Ⅴ)

And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand.
- Et elle alla en chercher. Il l'appela de nouveau, et dit: Apporte-moi, je te prie, un morceau de pain dans ta main. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐπορεύθη λαβει̃ν καὶ ἐβόησεν ὀπίσω αὐτη̃ς Ηλιου καὶ εἰ̃πεν λήμψη̨ δή μοι ψωμὸν ἄρτου ἐν τη̨̃ χειρί σου (Ⅲ) - Cumque illa pergeret ut afferret, clamavit post tergum ejus, dicens : Affer mihi, obsecro, et buccellam panis in manu tua. (Ⅳ) - 11 ׃17 ותלך לקחת ויקרא אליה ויאמר לקחי נא לי פת לחם בידך (Ⅴ)

And she said, As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.
- Et elle répondit: L'Éternel, ton Dieu, est vivant! je n'ai rien de cuit, je n'ai qu'une poignée de farine dans un pot et un peu d'huile dans une cruche. Et voici, je ramasse deux morceaux de bois, puis je rentrerai et je préparerai cela pour moi et pour mon fils; nous mangerons, après quoi nous mourrons. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἡ γυνή ζη̨̃ κύριος ὁ θεός σου εἰ ἔστιν μοι ἐγκρυφίας ἀλλ' ἢ ὅσον δρὰξ ἀλεύρου ἐν τη̨̃ ὑδρία̨ καὶ ὀλίγον ἔλαιον ἐν τω̨̃ καψάκη̨ καὶ ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ συλλέγω δύο ξυλάρια καὶ εἰσελεύσομαι καὶ ποιήσω αὐτὸ ἐμαυτη̨̃ καὶ τοι̃ς τέκνοις μου καὶ φαγόμεθα καὶ ἀποθανούμεθα (Ⅲ) - Quæ respondit : Vivit Dominus Deus tuus, quia non habeo panem, nisi quantum pugillus capere potest farinæ in hydria, et paululum olei in lecytho : en colligo duo ligna ut ingrediar et faciam illum mihi et filio meo, ut comedamus, et moriamur. (Ⅳ) - 12 ׃17 ותאמר חי יהוה אלהיך אם יש לי מעוג כי אם מלא כף קמח בכד ומעט שמן בצפחת והנני מקששת שנים עצים ובאתי ועשיתיהו לי ולבני ואכלנהו ומתנו (Ⅴ)

And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.
- Élie lui dit: Ne crains point, rentre, fais comme tu as dit. Seulement, prépare-moi d'abord avec cela un petit gâteau, et tu me l'apporteras; tu en feras ensuite pour toi et pour ton fils. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν πρὸς αὐτὴν Ηλιου θάρσει εἴσελθε καὶ ποίησον κατὰ τὸ ῥη̃μά σου ἀλλὰ ποίησον ἐμοὶ ἐκει̃θεν ἐγκρυφίαν μικρὸν ἐν πρώτοις καὶ ἐξοίσεις μοι σαυτη̨̃ δὲ καὶ τοι̃ς τέκνοις σου ποιήσεις ἐπ' ἐσχάτου (Ⅲ) - Ad quam Elias ait : Noli timere, sed vade, et fac sicut dixisti : verumtamen mihi primum fac de ipsa farinula subcinericium panem parvulum, et affer ad me : tibi autem et filio tuo facies postea. (Ⅳ) - 13 ׃17 ויאמר אליה אליהו אל תיראי באי עשי כדברך אך עשי לי משם עגה קטנה בראשנה והוצאת[1] לי ולך ולבנך תעשי באחרנה ס (Ⅴ)

For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth.
- Car ainsi parle l'Éternel, le Dieu d'Israël: La farine qui est dans le pot ne manquera point et l'huile qui est dans la cruche ne diminuera point, jusqu'au jour où l'Éternel fera tomber de la pluie sur la face du sol. (Ⅱ) - ὅτι τάδε λέγει κύριος ἡ ὑδρία του̃ ἀλεύρου οὐκ ἐκλείψει καὶ ὁ καψάκης του̃ ἐλαίου οὐκ ἐλαττονήσει ἕως ἡμέρας του̃ δου̃ναι κύριον τὸν ὑετὸν ἐπὶ τη̃ς γη̃ς (Ⅲ) - Hæc autem dicit Dominus Deus Israël : Hydria farinæ non deficiet, nec lecythus olei minuetur, usque ad diem in qua Dominus daturus est pluviam super faciem terræ. (Ⅳ) - 14 ׃17 כי כה אמר יהוה אלהי ישראל כד הקמח לא תכלה וצפחת השמן לא תחסר עד יום *תתן **תת יהוה גשם על פני האדמה (Ⅴ)

And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.
- Elle alla, et elle fit selon la parole d'Élie. Et pendant longtemps elle eut de quoi manger, elle et sa famille, aussi bien qu'Élie. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐπορεύθη ἡ γυνὴ καὶ ἐποίησεν καὶ ἤσθιεν αὐτὴ καὶ αὐτὸς καὶ τὰ τέκνα αὐτη̃ς (Ⅲ) - Quæ abiit, et fecit juxta verbum Eliæ : et comedit ipse, et illa, et domus ejus : et ex illa die (Ⅳ) - 15 ׃17 ותלך ותעשה כדבר אליהו ותאכל *הוא *והיא **היא **והוא וביתה ימים (Ⅴ)

And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Elijah.
- La farine qui était dans le pot ne manqua point, et l'huile qui était dans la cruche ne diminua point, selon la parole que l'Éternel avait prononcée par Élie. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἡ ὑδρία του̃ ἀλεύρου οὐκ ἐξέλιπεν καὶ ὁ καψάκης του̃ ἐλαίου οὐκ ἐλαττονώθη κατὰ τὸ ῥη̃μα κυρίου ὃ ἐλάλησεν ἐν χειρὶ Ηλιου (Ⅲ) - hydria farinæ non defecit, et lecythus olei non est imminutus, juxta verbum Domini quod locutus fuerat in manu Eliæ. (Ⅳ) - 16 ׃17 כד הקמח לא כלתה וצפחת השמן לא חסר כדבר יהוה אשר דבר ביד אליהו פ (Ⅴ)

And it came to pass after these things, that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness was so sore, that there was no breath left in him.
- Après ces choses, le fils de la femme, maîtresse de la maison, devint malade, et sa maladie fut si violente qu'il ne resta plus en lui de respiration. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐγένετο μετὰ ταυ̃τα καὶ ἠρρώστησεν ὁ υἱὸς τη̃ς γυναικὸς τη̃ς κυρίας του̃ οἴκου καὶ ἠ̃ν ἡ ἀρρωστία αὐτου̃ κραταιὰ σφόδρα ἕως οὑ̃ οὐχ ὑπελείφθη ἐν αὐτω̨̃ πνευ̃μα (Ⅲ) - Factum est autem post hæc, ægrotavit filius mulieris matrisfamilias, et erat languor fortissimus, ita ut non remaneret in eo halitus. (Ⅳ) - 17 ׃17 ויהי אחר הדברים האלה חלה בן האשה בעלת הבית ויהי חליו חזק מאד עד אשר לא נותרה בו נשמה (Ⅴ)

And she said unto Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God? art thou come unto me to call my sin to remembrance, and to slay my son?
- Cette femme dit alors à Élie: Qu'y a-t-il entre moi et toi, homme de Dieu? Es-tu venu chez moi pour rappeler le souvenir de mon iniquité, et pour faire mourir mon fils? (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν πρὸς Ηλιου τί ἐμοὶ καὶ σοί ἄνθρωπε του̃ θεου̃ εἰση̃λθες πρός με του̃ ἀναμνη̃σαι τὰς ἀδικίας μου καὶ θανατω̃σαι τὸν υἱόν μου (Ⅲ) - Dixit ergo ad Eliam : Quid mihi et tibi, vir Dei ? ingressus es ad me, ut rememorarentur iniquitates meæ, et interficeres filium meum ? (Ⅳ) - 18 ׃17 ותאמר אל אליהו מה לי ולך איש האלהים באת אלי להזכיר את עוני ולהמית את בני (Ⅴ)

And he said unto her, Give me thy son. And he took him out of her bosom, and carried him up into a loft, where he abode, and laid him upon his own bed.
- Il lui répondit: Donne-moi ton fils. Et il le prit du sein de la femme, le monta dans la chambre haute où il demeurait, et le coucha sur son lit. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ηλιου πρὸς τὴν γυναι̃κα δός μοι τὸν υἱόν σου καὶ ἔλαβεν αὐτὸν ἐκ του̃ κόλπου αὐτη̃ς καὶ ἀνήνεγκεν αὐτὸν εἰς τὸ ὑπερω̨̃ον ἐν ὡ̨̃ αὐτὸς ἐκάθητο ἐκει̃ καὶ ἐκοίμισεν αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τη̃ς κλίνης αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - Et ait ad eam Elias : Da mihi filium tuum. Tulitque eum de sinu ejus, et portavit in cœnaculum ubi ipse manebat, et posuit super lectulum suum. (Ⅳ) - 19 ׃17 ויאמר אליה תני לי את בנך ויקחהו מחיקה ויעלהו אל העליה אשר הוא ישב שם וישכבהו על מטתו (Ⅴ)

And he cried unto the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, hast thou also brought evil upon the widow with whom I sojourn, by slaying her son?
- Puis il invoqua l'Éternel, et dit: Éternel, mon Dieu, est-ce que tu affligerais, au point de faire mourir son fils, même cette veuve chez qui j'ai été reçu comme un hôte? (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀνεβόησεν Ηλιου καὶ εἰ̃πεν οἴμμοι κύριε ὁ μάρτυς τη̃ς χήρας μεθ' ἡ̃ς ἐγὼ κατοικω̃ μετ' αὐτη̃ς σὺ κεκάκωκας του̃ θανατω̃σαι τὸν υἱὸν αὐτη̃ς (Ⅲ) - Et clamavit ad Dominum, et dixit : Domine Deus meus, etiam ne viduam apud quam ego utcumque sustentor, afflixisti ut interficeres filium ejus ? (Ⅳ) - 20 ׃17 ויקרא אל יהוה ויאמר יהוה אלהי הגם על האלמנה אשר אני מתגורר עמה הרעות להמית את בנה (Ⅴ)

And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried unto the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, I pray thee, let this child's soul come into him again.
- Et il s'étendit trois fois sur l'enfant, invoqua l'Éternel, et dit: Éternel, mon Dieu, je t'en prie, que l'âme de cet enfant revienne au dedans de lui! (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐνεφύσησεν τω̨̃ παιδαρίω̨ τρὶς καὶ ἐπεκαλέσατο τὸν κύριον καὶ εἰ̃πεν κύριε ὁ θεός μου ἐπιστραφήτω δὴ ἡ ψυχὴ του̃ παιδαρίου τούτου εἰς αὐτόν (Ⅲ) - Et expandit se, atque mensus est super puerum tribus vicibus, et clamavit ad Dominum, et ait : Domine Deus meus, revertatur, obsecro, anima pueri hujus in viscera ejus. (Ⅳ) - 21 ׃17 ויתמדד על הילד שלש פעמים ויקרא אל יהוה ויאמר יהוה אלהי תשב נא נפש הילד הזה על קרבו (Ⅴ)

And the LORD heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived.
- L'Éternel écouta la voix d'Élie, et l'âme de l'enfant revint au dedans de lui, et il fut rendu à la vie. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐγένετο οὕτως καὶ ἀνεβόησεν τὸ παιδάριον (Ⅲ) - Et exaudivit Dominus vocem Eliæ : et reversa est anima pueri intra eum, et revixit. (Ⅳ) - 22 ׃17 וישמע יהוה בקול אליהו ותשב נפש הילד על קרבו ויחי (Ⅴ)

And Elijah took the child, and brought him down out of the chamber into the house, and delivered him unto his mother: and Elijah said, See, thy son liveth.
- Élie prit l'enfant, le descendit de la chambre haute dans la maison, et le donna à sa mère. Et Élie dit: Vois, ton fils est vivant. (Ⅱ) - καὶ κατήγαγεν αὐτὸν ἀπὸ του̃ ὑπερώ̨ου εἰς τὸν οἰ̃κον καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτὸν τη̨̃ μητρὶ αὐτου̃ καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ηλιου βλέπε ζη̨̃ ὁ υἱός σου (Ⅲ) - Tulitque Elias puerum, et deposuit eum de cœnaculo in inferiorem domum, et tradidit matri suæ, et ait illi : En vivit filius tuus. (Ⅳ) - 23 ׃17 ויקח אליהו את הילד וירדהו מן העליה הביתה ויתנהו לאמו ויאמר אליהו ראי חי בנך (Ⅴ)

And the woman said to Elijah, Now by this I know that thou art a man of God, and that the word of the LORD in thy mouth is truth.
- Et la femme dit à Élie: Je reconnais maintenant que tu es un homme de Dieu, et que la parole de l'Éternel dans ta bouche est vérité. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἡ γυνὴ πρὸς Ηλιου ἰδοὺ ἔγνωκα ὅτι ἄνθρωπος θεου̃ εἰ̃ σὺ καὶ ῥη̃μα κυρίου ἐν στόματί σου ἀληθινόν (Ⅲ) - Dixitque mulier ad Eliam : Nunc in isto cognovi quoniam vir Dei es tu, et verbum Domini in ore tuo verum est. (Ⅳ) - 24 ׃17 ותאמר האשה אל אליהו עתה זה ידעתי כי איש אלהים אתה ודבר יהוה בפיך אמת פ (Ⅴ)
