19. 1  
And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and withal how he had slain all the prophets with the sword.
- Achab rapporta à Jézabel tout ce qu'avait fait Élie, et comment il avait tué par l'épée tous les prophètes. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἀνήγγειλεν Αχααβ τη̨̃ Ιεζαβελ γυναικὶ αὐτου̃ πάντα ἃ ἐποίησεν Ηλιου καὶ ὡς ἀπέκτεινεν τοὺς προφήτας ἐν ῥομφαία̨ (Ⅲ)
- Nuntiavit autem Achab Jezabel omnia quæ fecerat Elias, et quomodo occidisset universos prophetas gladio. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 1  ׃19  ויגד אחאב לאיזבל את כל אשר עשה אליהו ואת כל אשר הרג את כל הנביאים בחרב ‬ (Ⅴ)
19. 2  
Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by to morrow about this time.
- Jézabel envoya un messager à Élie, pour lui dire: Que les dieux me traitent dans toute leur rigueur, si demain, à cette heure, je ne fais de ta vie ce que tu as fait de la vie de chacun d'eux! (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἀπέστειλεν Ιεζαβελ πρὸς Ηλιου καὶ εἰ̃πεν εἰ σὺ εἰ̃ Ηλιου καὶ ἐγὼ Ιεζαβελ τάδε ποιήσαι μοι ὁ θεὸς καὶ τάδε προσθείη ὅτι ταύτην τὴν ὥραν αὔριον θήσομαι τὴν ψυχήν σου καθὼς ψυχὴν ἑνὸς ἐξ αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ)
- Misitque Jezabel nuntium ad Eliam, dicens : Hæc mihi faciant dii, et hæc addant, nisi hac hora cras posuero animam tuam sicut animam unius ex illis. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 2  ׃19  ותשלח איזבל מלאך אל אליהו לאמר כה יעשון אלהים וכה יוספון כי כעת מחר אשים את נפשך כנפש אחד מהם ‬ (Ⅴ)
19. 3  
And when he saw that, he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beersheba, which belongeth to Judah, and left his servant there.
- Élie, voyant cela, se leva et s'en alla, pour sauver sa vie. Il arriva à Beer Schéba, qui appartient à Juda, et il y laissa son serviteur. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἐφοβήθη Ηλιου καὶ ἀνέστη καὶ ἀπη̃λθεν κατὰ τὴν ψυχὴν ἑαυτου̃ καὶ ἔρχεται εἰς Βηρσαβεε τὴν Ιουδα καὶ ἀφη̃κεν τὸ παιδάριον αὐτου̃ ἐκει̃ (Ⅲ)
- Timuit ergo Elias, et surgens abiit quocumque eum ferebat voluntas : venitque in Bersabee Juda, et dimisit ibi puerum suum, (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 3  ׃19  וירא ויקם וילך אל נפשו ויבא באר שבע אשר ליהודה וינח את נערו שם ‬ (Ⅴ)
19. 4  
But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.
- Pour lui, il alla dans le désert où, après une journée de marche, il s'assit sous un genêt, et demanda la mort, en disant: C'est assez! Maintenant, Éternel, prends mon âme, car je ne suis pas meilleur que mes pères. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ αὐτὸς ἐπορεύθη ἐν τη̨̃ ἐρήμω̨ ὁδὸν ἡμέρας καὶ ἠ̃λθεν καὶ ἐκάθισεν ὑπὸ ραθμ ἓν καὶ ἠ̨τήσατο τὴν ψυχὴν αὐτου̃ ἀποθανει̃ν καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἱκανούσθω νυ̃ν λαβὲ δὴ τὴν ψυχήν μου ἀπ' ἐμου̃ κύριε ὅτι οὐ κρείσσων ἐγώ εἰμι ὑπὲρ τοὺς πατέρας μου (Ⅲ)
- et perrexit in desertum, viam unius diei. Cumque venisset, et sederet subter unam juniperum, petivit animæ suæ ut moreretur, et ait : Sufficit mihi, Domine : tolle animam meam : neque enim melior sum quam patres mei. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 4  ׃19  והוא הלך במדבר דרך יום ויבא וישב תחת רתם *אחת **אחד וישאל את נפשו למות ויאמר רב עתה יהוה קח נפשי כי לא טוב אנכי מאבתי ‬ (Ⅴ)
19. 5  
And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat.
- Il se coucha et s'endormit sous un genêt. Et voici, un ange le toucha, et lui dit: Lève-toi, mange. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἐκοιμήθη καὶ ὕπνωσεν ἐκει̃ ὑπὸ φυτόν καὶ ἰδού τις ἥψατο αὐτου̃ καὶ εἰ̃πεν αὐτω̨̃ ἀνάστηθι καὶ φάγε (Ⅲ)
- Projecitque se, et obdormivit in umbra juniperi : et ecce angelus Domini tetigit eum, et dixit illi : Surge, et comede. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 5  ׃19  וישכב ויישן תחת רתם אחד והנה זה מלאך נגע בו ויאמר לו קום אכול ‬ (Ⅴ)
19. 6  
And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again.
- Il regarda, et il y avait à son chevet un gâteau cuit sur des pierres chauffées et une cruche d'eau. Il mangea et but, puis se recoucha. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἐπέβλεψεν Ηλιου καὶ ἰδοὺ πρὸς κεφαλη̃ς αὐτου̃ ἐγκρυφίας ὀλυρίτης καὶ καψάκης ὕδατος καὶ ἀνέστη καὶ ἔφαγεν καὶ ἔπιεν καὶ ἐπιστρέψας ἐκοιμήθη (Ⅲ)
- Respexit, et ecce ad caput suum subcinericius panis, et vas aquæ : comedit ergo, et bibit, et rursum obdormivit. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 6  ׃19  ויבט והנה מראשתיו עגת רצפים וצפחת מים ויאכל וישת וישב וישכב ‬ (Ⅴ)
19. 7  
And the angel of the LORD came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee.
- L'ange de l'Éternel vint une seconde fois, le toucha, et dit: Lève-toi, mange, car le chemin est trop long pour toi. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἐπέστρεψεν ὁ ἄγγελος κυρίου ἐκ δευτέρου καὶ ἥψατο αὐτου̃ καὶ εἰ̃πεν αὐτω̨̃ ἀνάστα φάγε ὅτι πολλὴ ἀπὸ σου̃ ἡ ὁδός (Ⅲ)
- Reversusque est angelus Domini secundo, et tetigit eum, dixitque illi : Surge, comede : grandis enim tibi restat via. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 7  ׃19  וישב מלאך יהוה שנית ויגע בו ויאמר קום אכל כי רב ממך הדרך ‬ (Ⅴ)
19. 8  
And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God.
- Il se leva, mangea et but; et avec la force que lui donna cette nourriture, il marcha quarante jours et quarante nuits jusqu'à la montagne de Dieu, à Horeb. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἀνέστη καὶ ἔφαγεν καὶ ἔπιεν καὶ ἐπορεύθη ἐν τη̨̃ ἰσχύι τη̃ς βρώσεως ἐκείνης τεσσαράκοντα ἡμέρας καὶ τεσσαράκοντα νύκτας ἕως ὄρους Χωρηβ (Ⅲ)
- Qui cum surrexisset, comedit et bibit, et ambulavit in fortitudine cibi illius quadraginta diebus et quadraginta noctibus usque ad montem Dei Horeb.\ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 8  ׃19  ויקם ויאכל וישתה וילך בכח האכילה ההיא ארבעים יום וארבעים לילה עד הר האלהים חרב ‬ (Ⅴ)
19. 9  
And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and he said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah?
- Et là, il entra dans la caverne, et il y passa la nuit. Et voici, la parole de l'Éternel lui fut adressée, en ces mots: Que fais-tu ici, Élie? (Ⅱ)
- καὶ εἰση̃λθεν ἐκει̃ εἰς τὸ σπήλαιον καὶ κατέλυσεν ἐκει̃ καὶ ἰδοὺ ῥη̃μα κυρίου πρὸς αὐτὸν καὶ εἰ̃πεν τί σὺ ἐνταυ̃θα Ηλιου (Ⅲ)
- Cumque venisset illuc, mansit in spelunca : et ecce sermo Domini ad eum, dixitque illi : Quid hic agis, Elia ? (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 9  ׃19  ויבא שם אל המערה וילן שם והנה דבר יהוה אליו ויאמר לו מה לך פה אליהו ‬ (Ⅴ)
19. 10  
And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.
- Il répondit: J'ai déployé mon zèle pour l'Éternel, le Dieu des armées; car les enfants d'Israël ont abandonné ton alliance, ils ont renversé tes autels, et ils ont tué par l'épée tes prophètes; je suis resté, moi seul, et ils cherchent à m'ôter la vie. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ηλιου ζηλω̃ν ἐζήλωκα τω̨̃ κυρίω̨ παντοκράτορι ὅτι ἐγκατέλιπόν σε οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ τὰ θυσιαστήριά σου κατέσκαψαν καὶ τοὺς προφήτας σου ἀπέκτειναν ἐν ῥομφαία̨ καὶ ὑπολέλειμμαι ἐγὼ μονώτατος καὶ ζητου̃σι τὴν ψυχήν μου λαβει̃ν αὐτήν (Ⅲ)
- At ille respondit : Zelo zelatus sum pro Domino Deo exercituum, quia dereliquerunt pactum tuum filii Israël : altaria tua destruxerunt, prophetas tuos occiderunt gladio, derelictus sum ego solus, et quærunt animam meam ut auferant eam. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 10 ׃19  ויאמר קנא קנאתי ליהוה אלהי צבאות כי עזבו בריתך בני ישראל את מזבחתיך הרסו ואת נביאיך הרגו בחרב ואותר אני לבדי ויבקשו את נפשי לקחתה ‬ (Ⅴ)
19. 11  
And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake:
- L'Éternel dit: Sors, et tiens-toi dans la montagne devant l'Éternel! Et voici, l'Éternel passa. Et devant l'Éternel, il y eut un vent fort et violent qui déchirait les montagnes et brisait les rochers: l'Éternel n'était pas dans le vent. Et après le vent, ce fut un tremblement de terre: l'Éternel n'était pas dans le tremblement de terre. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἐξελεύση̨ αὔριον καὶ στήση̨ ἐνώπιον κυρίου ἐν τω̨̃ ὄρει ἰδοὺ παρελεύσεται κύριος καὶ πνευ̃μα μέγα κραταιὸν διαλυ̃ον ὄρη καὶ συντρι̃βον πέτρας ἐνώπιον κυρίου οὐκ ἐν τω̨̃ πνεύματι κύριος καὶ μετὰ τὸ πνευ̃μα συσσεισμός οὐκ ἐν τω̨̃ συσσεισμω̨̃ κύριος (Ⅲ)
- Et ait ei : Egredere, et sta in monte coram Domino : et ecce Dominus transit. Et spiritus grandis et fortis subvertens montes, et conterens petras, ante Dominum : non in spiritu Dominus. Et post spiritum commotio : non in commotione Dominus. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 11 ׃19  ויאמר צא ועמדת בהר לפני יהוה והנה יהוה עבר ורוח גדולה וחזק מפרק הרים ומשבר סלעים לפני יהוה לא ברוח יהוה ואחר הרוח‪[1]‬ רעש לא ברעש יהוה ‬ (Ⅴ)
19. 12  
And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.
- Et après le tremblement de terre, un feu: l'Éternel n'était pas dans le feu. Et après le feu, un murmure doux et léger. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ μετὰ τὸν συσσεισμὸν πυ̃ρ οὐκ ἐν τω̨̃ πυρὶ κύριος καὶ μετὰ τὸ πυ̃ρ φωνὴ αὔρας λεπτη̃ς κἀκει̃ κύριος (Ⅲ)
- Et post commotionem ignis : non in igne Dominus. Et post ignem sibilus auræ tenuis. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 12 ׃19  ואחר הרעש אש לא באש יהוה ואחר האש קול דממה דקה ‬ (Ⅴ)
19. 13  
And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?
- Quand Élie l'entendit, il s'enveloppa le visage de son manteau, il sortit et se tint à l'entrée de la caverne. Et voici, une voix lui fit entendre ces paroles: Que fais-tu ici, Élie? (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἤκουσεν Ηλιου καὶ ἐπεκάλυψεν τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτου̃ ἐν τη̨̃ μηλωτη̨̃ ἑαυτου̃ καὶ ἐξη̃λθεν καὶ ἔστη ὑπὸ τὸ σπήλαιον καὶ ἰδοὺ πρὸς αὐτὸν φωνὴ καὶ εἰ̃πεν τί σὺ ἐνταυ̃θα Ηλιου (Ⅲ)
- Quod cum audisset Elias, operuit vultum suum pallio, et egressus stetit in ostio speluncæ. Et ecce vox ad eum dicens : Quid hic agis, Elia ? Et ille respondit : (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 13 ׃19  ויהי כשמע אליהו וילט פניו באדרתו ויצא ויעמד פתח המערה והנה אליו קול ויאמר מה לך פה אליהו ‬ (Ⅴ)
19. 14

19. 15  
And the LORD said unto him, Go, return on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when thou comest, anoint Hazael to be king over Syria:
- L'Éternel lui dit: Va, reprends ton chemin par le désert jusqu'à Damas; et quand tu seras arrivé, tu oindras Hazaël pour roi de Syrie. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ εἰ̃πεν κύριος πρὸς αὐτόν πορεύου ἀνάστρεφε εἰς τὴν ὁδόν σου καὶ ἥξεις εἰς τὴν ὁδὸν ἐρήμου Δαμασκου̃ καὶ χρίσεις τὸν Αζαηλ εἰς βασιλέα τη̃ς Συρίας (Ⅲ)
- Et ait Dominus ad eum : Vade, et revertere in viam tuam per desertum in Damascum : cumque perveneris illuc, unges Hazaël regem super Syriam, (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 15 ׃19  ויאמר יהוה אליו לך שוב לדרכך מדברה דמשק‪[1]‬ ובאת ומשחת את חזאל למלך על ארם ‬ (Ⅴ)
19. 16  
And Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou anoint to be king over Israel: and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abelmeholah shalt thou anoint to be prophet in thy room.
- Tu oindras aussi Jéhu, fils de Nimschi, pour roi d'Israël; et tu oindras Élisée, fils de Schaphath, d'Abel Mehola, pour prophète à ta place. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ τὸν Ιου υἱὸν Ναμεσσι χρίσεις εἰς βασιλέα ἐπὶ Ισραηλ καὶ τὸν Ελισαιε υἱὸν Σαφατ ἀπὸ Αβελμαουλα χρίσεις εἰς προφήτην ἀντὶ σου̃ (Ⅲ)
- et Jehu filium Namsi unges regem super Israël : Eliseum autem filium Saphat, qui est de Abelmehula, unges prophetam pro te. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 16 ׃19  ואת יהוא בן נמשי תמשח למלך על ישראל ואת אלישע בן שפט מאבל מחולה תמשח לנביא תחתיך ‬ (Ⅴ)
19. 17  
And it shall come to pass, that him that escapeth the sword of Hazael shall Jehu slay: and him that escapeth from the sword of Jehu shall Elisha slay.
- Et il arrivera que celui qui échappera à l'épée de Hazaël, Jéhu le fera mourir; et celui qui échappera à l'épée de Jéhu, Élisée le fera mourir. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἔσται τὸν σω̨ζόμενον ἐκ ῥομφαίας Αζαηλ θανατώσει Ιου καὶ τὸν σω̨ζόμενον ἐκ ῥομφαίας Ιου θανατώσει Ελισαιε (Ⅲ)
- Et erit : quicumque fugerit gladium Hazaël, occidet eum Jehu : et quicumque fugerit gladium Jehu, interficiet eum Eliseus. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 17 ׃19  והיה הנמלט מחרב חזאל ימית יהוא והנמלט מחרב יהוא ימית אלישע ‬ (Ⅴ)
19. 18  
Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.
- Mais je laisserai en Israël sept mille hommes, tous ceux qui n'ont point fléchi les genoux devant Baal, et dont la bouche ne l'a point baisé. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ καταλείψεις ἐν Ισραηλ ἑπτὰ χιλιάδας ἀνδρω̃ν πάντα γόνατα ἃ οὐκ ὤκλασαν γόνυ τω̨̃ Βααλ καὶ πα̃ν στόμα ὃ οὐ προσεκύνησεν αὐτω̨̃ (Ⅲ)
- Et derelinquam mihi in Israël septem millia virorum, quorum genua non sunt incurvata ante Baal, et omne os quod non adoravit eum osculans manus.\ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 18 ׃19  והשארתי בישראל שבעת אלפים כל הברכים אשר לא כרעו לבעל וכל הפה אשר לא נשק לו ‬ (Ⅴ)
19. 19  
So he departed thence, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth: and Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him.
- Élie partit de là, et il trouva Élisée, fils de Schaphath, qui labourait. Il y avait devant lui douze paires de boeufs, et il était avec la douzième. Élie s'approcha de lui, et il jeta sur lui son manteau. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἀπη̃λθεν ἐκει̃θεν καὶ εὑρίσκει τὸν Ελισαιε υἱὸν Σαφατ καὶ αὐτὸς ἠροτρία ἐν βουσίν δώδεκα ζεύγη βοω̃ν ἐνώπιον αὐτου̃ καὶ αὐτὸς ἐν τοι̃ς δώδεκα καὶ ἐπη̃λθεν ἐπ' αὐτὸν καὶ ἐπέρριψε τὴν μηλωτὴν αὐτου̃ ἐπ' αὐτόν (Ⅲ)
- Profectus ergo inde Elias, reperit Eliseum filium Saphat, arantem in duodecim jugis boum. Et ipse in duodecim jugis boum arantibus unus erat : cumque venisset Elias ad eum, misit pallium suum super illum. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 19 ׃19  וילך משם וימצא את אלישע בן שפט והוא חרש שנים עשר צמדים לפניו והוא בשנים העשר ויעבר אליהו אליו וישלך אדרתו אליו ‬ (Ⅴ)
19. 20  
And he left the oxen, and ran after Elijah, and said, Let me, I pray thee, kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow thee. And he said unto him, Go back again: for what have I done to thee?
- Élisée, quittant ses boeufs, courut après Élie, et dit: Laisse-moi embrasser mon père et ma mère, et je te suivrai. Élie lui répondit: Va, et reviens; car pense à ce que je t'ai fait. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ κατέλιπεν Ελισαιε τὰς βόας καὶ κατέδραμεν ὀπίσω Ηλιου καὶ εἰ̃πεν καταφιλήσω τὸν πατέρα μου καὶ ἀκολουθήσω ὀπίσω σου καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ηλιου ἀνάστρεφε ὅτι πεποίηκά σοι (Ⅲ)
- Qui statim relictis bobus cucurrit post Eliam, et ait : Osculer, oro, patrem meum, et matrem meam, et sic sequar te. Dixitque ei : Vade, et revertere : quod enim meum erat, feci tibi. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 20 ׃19  ויעזב את הבקר וירץ אחרי אליהו ויאמר אשקה נא לאבי ולאמי ואלכה אחריך ויאמר לו לך שוב כי מה עשיתי לך ‬ (Ⅴ)
19. 21  
And he returned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen, and slew them, and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen, and gave unto the people, and they did eat. Then he arose, and went after Elijah, and ministered unto him.
- Après s'être éloigné d'Élie, il revint prendre une paire de boeufs, qu'il offrit en sacrifice; avec l'attelage des boeufs, il fit cuire leur chair, et la donna à manger au peuple. Puis il se leva, suivit Élie, et fut à son service. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἀνέστρεψεν ἐξόπισθεν αὐτου̃ καὶ ἔλαβεν τὰ ζεύγη τω̃ν βοω̃ν καὶ ἔθυσεν καὶ ἥψησεν αὐτὰ ἐν τοι̃ς σκεύεσι τω̃ν βοω̃ν καὶ ἔδωκεν τω̨̃ λαω̨̃ καὶ ἔφαγον καὶ ἀνέστη καὶ ἐπορεύθη ὀπίσω Ηλιου καὶ ἐλειτούργει αὐτω̨̃ (Ⅲ)
- Reversus autem ab eo, tulit par boum, et mactavit illud, et in aratro boum coxit carnes, et dedit populo, et comederunt : consurgensque abiit, et secutus est Eliam, et ministrabat ei. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 21 ׃19  וישב מאחריו ויקח את צמד הבקר ויזבחהו ובכלי הבקר בשלם הבשר ויתן לעם ויאכלו ויקם וילך אחרי אליהו וישרתהו פ‬ (Ⅴ)
