And Benhadad the king of Syria gathered all his host together: and there were thirty and two kings with him, and horses, and chariots; and he went up and besieged Samaria, and warred against it.
- Ben Hadad, roi de Syrie, rassembla toute son armée; il avait avec lui trente-deux rois, des chevaux et des chars. Il monta, mit le siège devant Samarie et l'attaqua. (Ⅱ) - καὶ συνήθροισεν υἱὸς Αδερ πα̃σαν τὴν δύναμιν αὐτου̃ καὶ ἀνέβη καὶ περιεκάθισεν ἐπὶ Σαμάρειαν καὶ τριάκοντα καὶ δύο βασιλει̃ς μετ' αὐτου̃ καὶ πα̃ς ἵππος καὶ ἅρμα καὶ ἀνέβησαν καὶ περιεκάθισαν ἐπὶ Σαμάρειαν καὶ ἐπολέμησαν ἐπ' αὐτήν (Ⅲ) - Porro Benadad rex Syriæ congregavit omnem exercitum suum, et triginta duos reges secum, et equos, et currus : et ascendens pugnabat contra Samariam, et obsidebat eam. (Ⅳ) - 1 ׃20 ובן הדד מלך ארם קבץ את כל חילו ושלשים ושנים מלך אתו וסוס ורכב ויעל ויצר על שמרון וילחם בה (Ⅴ)

And he sent messengers to Ahab king of Israel into the city, and said unto him, Thus saith Benhadad,
- Il envoya dans la ville des messagers à Achab, roi d'Israël, (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀπέστειλεν πρὸς Αχααβ βασιλέα Ισραηλ εἰς τὴν πόλιν (Ⅲ) - Mittensque nuntios ad Achab regem Israël in civitatem, (Ⅳ) - 2 ׃20 וישלח מלאכים אל אחאב מלך ישראל העירה (Ⅴ)

Thy silver and thy gold is mine; thy wives also and thy children, even the goodliest, are mine.
- et lui fit dire: Ainsi parle Ben Hadad: Ton argent et ton or sont à moi, tes femmes et tes plus beaux enfants sont à moi. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν πρὸς αὐτόν τάδε λέγει υἱὸς Αδερ τὸ ἀργύριόν σου καὶ τὸ χρυσίον σου ἐμόν ἐστιν καὶ αἱ γυναι̃κές σου καὶ τὰ τέκνα σου ἐμά ἐστιν (Ⅲ) - ait : Hæc dicit Benadad : Argentum tuum, et aurum tuum meum est : et uxores tuæ, et filii tui optimi, mei sunt. (Ⅳ) - 3 ׃20 ויאמר לו כה אמר בן הדד כספך וזהבך לי הוא ונשיך ובניך הטובים לי הם (Ⅴ)

And the king of Israel answered and said, My lord, O king, according to thy saying, I am thine, and all that I have.
- Le roi d'Israël répondit: Roi, mon seigneur, comme tu le dis, je suis à toi avec tout ce que j'ai. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀπεκρίθη ὁ βασιλεὺς Ισραηλ καὶ εἰ̃πεν καθὼς ἐλάλησας κύριε βασιλευ̃ σὸς ἐγώ εἰμι καὶ πάντα τὰ ἐμά (Ⅲ) - Responditque rex Israël : Juxta verbum tuum, domine mi rex, tuus sum ego, et omnia mea. (Ⅳ) - 4 ׃20 ויען מלך ישראל ויאמר כדברך אדני המלך לך אני וכל אשר לי (Ⅴ)

And the messengers came again, and said, Thus speaketh Benhadad, saying, Although I have sent unto thee, saying, Thou shalt deliver me thy silver, and thy gold, and thy wives, and thy children;
- Les messagers retournèrent, et dirent: Ainsi parle Ben Hadad: Je t'ai fait dire: Tu me livreras ton argent et ton or, tes femmes et tes enfants. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀνέστρεψαν οἱ ἄγγελοι καὶ εἰ̃πον τάδε λέγει υἱὸς Αδερ ἐγὼ ἀπέσταλκα πρὸς σὲ λέγων τὸ ἀργύριόν σου καὶ τὸ χρυσίον σου καὶ τὰς γυναι̃κάς σου καὶ τὰ τέκνα σου δώσεις ἐμοί (Ⅲ) - Revertentesque nuntii, dixerunt : Hæc dicit Benadad, qui misit nos ad te : Argentum tuum, et aurum tuum, et uxores tuas, et filios tuos, dabis mihi. (Ⅳ) - 5 ׃20 וישבו המלאכים ויאמרו כה אמר בן הדד לאמר כי שלחתי אליך לאמר כספך וזהבך ונשיך ובניך לי תתן (Ⅴ)

Yet I will send my servants unto thee to morrow about this time, and they shall search thine house, and the houses of thy servants; and it shall be, that whatsoever is pleasant in thine eyes, they shall put it in their hand, and take it away.
- J'enverrai donc demain, à cette heure, mes serviteurs chez toi; ils fouilleront ta maison et les maisons de tes serviteurs, ils mettront la main sur tout ce que tu as de précieux, et ils l'emporteront. (Ⅱ) - ὅτι ταύτην τὴν ὥραν αὔριον ἀποστελω̃ τοὺς παι̃δάς μου πρὸς σέ καὶ ἐρευνήσουσιν τὸν οἰ̃κόν σου καὶ τοὺς οἴκους τω̃ν παίδων σου καὶ ἔσται τὰ ἐπιθυμήματα ὀφθαλμω̃ν αὐτω̃ν ἐφ' ἃ ἂν ἐπιβάλωσι τὰς χει̃ρας αὐτω̃ν καὶ λήμψονται (Ⅲ) - Cras igitur hac eadem hora mittam servos meos ad te, et scrutabuntur domum tuam, et domum servorum tuorum : et omne quod eis placuerit, ponent in manibus suis, et auferent. (Ⅳ) - 6 ׃20 כי אם כעת מחר אשלח את עבדי אליך וחפשו את ביתך ואת בתי עבדיך והיה כל מחמד עיניך ישימו בידם ולקחו (Ⅴ)

Then the king of Israel called all the elders of the land, and said, Mark, I pray you, and see how this man seeketh mischief: for he sent unto me for my wives, and for my children, and for my silver, and for my gold; and I denied him not.
- Le roi d'Israël appela tous les anciens du pays, et il dit: Sentez bien et comprenez que cet homme nous veut du mal; car il m'a envoyé demander mes femmes et mes enfants, mon argent et mon or, et je ne lui avais pas refusé! (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐκάλεσεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Ισραηλ πάντας τοὺς πρεσβυτέρους καὶ εἰ̃πεν γνω̃τε δὴ καὶ ἴδετε ὅτι κακίαν οὑ̃τος ζητει̃ ὅτι ἀπέσταλκεν πρός με περὶ τω̃ν γυναικω̃ν μου καὶ περὶ τω̃ν υἱω̃ν μου καὶ περὶ τω̃ν θυγατέρων μου τὸ ἀργύριόν μου καὶ τὸ χρυσίον μου οὐκ ἀπεκώλυσα ἀπ' αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - Vocavit autem rex Israël omnes seniores terræ, et ait : Animadvertite, et videte quoniam insidietur nobis : misit enim ad me pro uxoribus meis, et filiis, et pro argento et auro : et non abnui. (Ⅳ) - 7 ׃20 ויקרא מלך ישראל לכל זקני הארץ ויאמר דעו נא וראו כי רעה זה מבקש כי שלח אלי לנשי ולבני ולכספי ולזהבי ולא מנעתי ממנו (Ⅴ)

And all the elders and all the people said unto him, Hearken not unto him, nor consent.
- Tous les anciens et tout le peuple dirent à Achab: Ne l'écoute pas et ne consens pas. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃παν αὐτω̨̃ οἱ πρεσβύτεροι καὶ πα̃ς ὁ λαός μὴ ἀκούση̨ς καὶ μὴ θελήση̨ς (Ⅲ) - Dixeruntque omnes majores natu, et universus populus, ad eum : Non audias, neque acquiescas illi. (Ⅳ) - 8 ׃20 ויאמרו אליו כל הזקנים וכל העם אל תשמע ולוא תאבה (Ⅴ)

Wherefore he said unto the messengers of Benhadad, Tell my lord the king, All that thou didst send for to thy servant at the first I will do: but this thing I may not do. And the messengers departed, and brought him word again.
- Et il dit aux messagers de Ben Hadad: Dites à mon seigneur le roi: Je ferai tout ce que tu as envoyé demander à ton serviteur la première fois; mais pour cette chose, je ne puis pas la faire. Les messagers s'en allèrent, et lui portèrent la réponse. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν τοι̃ς ἀγγέλοις υἱου̃ Αδερ λέγετε τω̨̃ κυρίω̨ ὑμω̃ν πάντα ὅσα ἀπέσταλκας πρὸς τὸν δου̃λόν σου ἐν πρώτοις ποιήσω τὸ δὲ ῥη̃μα του̃το οὐ δυνήσομαι ποιη̃σαι καὶ ἀπη̃ραν οἱ ἄνδρες καὶ ἐπέστρεψαν αὐτω̨̃ λόγον (Ⅲ) - Respondit itaque nuntiis Benadad : Dicite domino meo regi : Omnia propter quæ misisti ad me servum tuum in initio, faciam : hanc autem rem facere non possum. (Ⅳ) - 9 ׃20 ויאמר למלאכי בן הדד אמרו לאדני המלך כל אשר שלחת אל עבדך בראשנה אעשה והדבר הזה לא אוכל לעשות וילכו המלאכים וישבהו דבר (Ⅴ)

And Benhadad sent unto him, and said, The gods do so unto me, and more also, if the dust of Samaria shall suffice for handfuls for all the people that follow me.
- Ben Hadad envoya dire à Achab: Que les dieux me traitent dans toute leur rigueur, si la poussière de Samarie suffit pour remplir le creux de la main de tout le peuple qui me suit! (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀνταπέστειλεν πρὸς αὐτὸν υἱὸς Αδερ λέγων τάδε ποιήσαι μοι ὁ θεὸς καὶ τάδε προσθείη εἰ ἐκποιήσει ὁ χου̃ς Σαμαρείας ται̃ς ἀλώπεξιν παντὶ τω̨̃ λαω̨̃ τοι̃ς πεζοι̃ς μου (Ⅲ) - Reversique nuntii retulerunt ei. Qui remisit, et ait : Hæc faciant mihi dii, et hæc addant, si suffecerit pulvis Samariæ pugillis omnis populi qui sequitur me. (Ⅳ) - 10 ׃20 וישלח אליו בן הדד ויאמר כה יעשון לי אלהים וכה יוספו אם ישפק עפר שמרון לשעלים לכל העם אשר ברגלי (Ⅴ)

And the king of Israel answered and said, Tell him, Let not him that girdeth on his harness boast himself as he that putteth it off.
- Et le roi d'Israël répondit: Que celui qui revêt une armure ne se glorifie pas comme celui qui la dépose! (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀπεκρίθη ὁ βασιλεὺς Ισραηλ καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἱκανούσθω μὴ καυχάσθω ὁ κυρτὸς ὡς ὁ ὀρθός (Ⅲ) - Et respondens rex Israël, ait : Dicite ei : Ne glorietur, accinctus æque ut discinctus. (Ⅳ) - 11 ׃20 ויען מלך ישראל ויאמר דברו אל יתהלל חגר כמפתח (Ⅴ)

And it came to pass, when Ben-hadad heard this message, as he was drinking, he and the kings in the pavilions, that he said unto his servants, Set yourselves in array. And they set themselves in array against the city.
- Lorsque Ben Hadad reçut cette réponse, il était à boire avec les rois sous les tentes, et il dit à ses serviteurs: Faites vos préparatifs! Et ils firent leurs préparatifs contre la ville. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐγένετο ὅτε ἀπεκρίθη αὐτω̨̃ τὸν λόγον του̃τον πίνων ἠ̃ν αὐτὸς καὶ πάντες οἱ βασιλει̃ς μετ' αὐτου̃ ἐν σκηναι̃ς καὶ εἰ̃πεν τοι̃ς παισὶν αὐτου̃ οἰκοδομήσατε χάρακα καὶ ἔθεντο χάρακα ἐπὶ τὴν πόλιν (Ⅲ) - Factum est autem cum audisset Benadad verbum istud, bibebat ipse et reges in umbraculis : et ait servis suis : Circumdate civitatem. Et circumdederunt eam.\ (Ⅳ) - 12 ׃20 ויהי כשמע את הדבר הזה והוא שתה הוא והמלכים בסכות ויאמר אל עבדיו שימו וישימו על העיר (Ⅴ)

And, behold, there came a prophet unto Ahab king of Israel, saying, Thus saith the LORD, Hast thou seen all this great multitude? behold, I will deliver it into thine hand this day; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD.
- Mais voici, un prophète s'approcha d'Achab, roi d'Israël, et il dit: Ainsi parle l'Éternel: Vois-tu toute cette grande multitude? Je vais la livrer aujourd'hui entre tes mains, et tu sauras que je suis l'Éternel. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἰδοὺ προφήτης εἱ̃ς προση̃λθεν τω̨̃ βασιλει̃ Ισραηλ καὶ εἰ̃πεν τάδε λέγει κύριος εἰ ἑόρακας πάντα τὸν ὄχλον τὸν μέγαν του̃τον ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ δίδωμι αὐτὸν σήμερον εἰς χει̃ρας σάς καὶ γνώση̨ ὅτι ἐγὼ κύριος (Ⅲ) - Et ecce propheta unus accedens ad Achab regem Israël, ait ei : Hæc dicit Dominus : Certe vidisti omnem multitudinem hanc nimiam ? ecce ego tradam eam in manu tua hodie, ut scias quia ego sum Dominus. (Ⅳ) - 13 ׃20 והנה נביא אחד נגש אל אחאב מלך ישראל ויאמר כה אמר יהוה הראית את כל ההמון הגדול הזה הנני נתנו בידך היום וידעת כי אני יהוה (Ⅴ)

And Ahab said, By whom? And he said, Thus saith the LORD, Even by the young men of the princes of the provinces. Then he said, Who shall order the battle? And he answered, Thou.
- Achab dit: Par qui? Et il répondit: Ainsi parle l'Éternel: Par les serviteurs des chefs des provinces. Achab dit: Qui engagera le combat? Et il répondit: Toi. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν Αχααβ ἐν τίνι καὶ εἰ̃πεν τάδε λέγει κύριος ἐν τοι̃ς παιδαρίοις τω̃ν ἀρχόντων τω̃ν χωρω̃ν καὶ εἰ̃πεν Αχααβ τίς συνάψει τὸν πόλεμον καὶ εἰ̃πεν σύ (Ⅲ) - Et ait Achab : Per quem ? Dixitque ei : Hæc dicit Dominus : Per pedissequos principum provinciarum. Et ait : Quis incipiet præliari ? Et ille dixit : Tu. (Ⅳ) - 14 ׃20 ויאמר אחאב במי ויאמר כה אמר יהוה בנערי שרי המדינות ויאמר מי יאסר המלחמה ויאמר אתה (Ⅴ)

Then he numbered the young men of the princes of the provinces, and they were two hundred and thirty two: and after them he numbered all the people, even all the children of Israel, being seven thousand.
- Alors Achab passa en revue les serviteurs des chefs des provinces, et il s'en trouva deux cent trente-deux; et après eux, il passa en revue tout le peuple, tous les enfants d'Israël, et ils étaient sept mille. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐπεσκέψατο Αχααβ τὰ παιδάρια τω̃ν ἀρχόντων τω̃ν χωρω̃ν καὶ ἐγένοντο διακόσιοι καὶ τριάκοντα καὶ μετὰ ταυ̃τα ἐπεσκέψατο τὸν λαόν πα̃ν υἱὸν δυνάμεως ἑξήκοντα χιλιάδας (Ⅲ) - Recensuit ergo pueros principum provinciarum, et reperit numerum ducentorum triginta duorum : et recensuit post eos populum, omnes filios Israël, septem millia. (Ⅳ) - 15 ׃20 ויפקד את נערי שרי המדינות ויהיו מאתים שנים ושלשים ואחריהם פקד את כל העם כל בני ישראל שבעת אלפים (Ⅴ)

And they went out at noon. But Benhadad was drinking himself drunk in the pavilions, he and the kings, the thirty and two kings that helped him.
- Ils firent une sortie à midi. Ben Hadad buvait et s'enivrait sous les tentes avec les trente-deux rois, ses auxiliaires. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐξη̃λθεν μεσημβρίας καὶ υἱὸς Αδερ πίνων μεθύων ἐν Σοκχωθ αὐτὸς καὶ οἱ βασιλει̃ς τριάκοντα καὶ δύο βασιλει̃ς συμβοηθοὶ μετ' αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - Et egressi sunt meridie. Benadad autem bibebat temulentus in umbraculo suo, et reges triginta duo cum eo, qui ad auxilium ejus venerant. (Ⅳ) - 16 ׃20 ויצאו בצהרים ובן הדד שתה שכור בסכות הוא והמלכים שלשים ושנים מלך עזר אתו (Ⅴ)

And the young men of the princes of the provinces went out first; and Benhadad sent out, and they told him, saying, There are men come out of Samaria.
- Les serviteurs des chefs des provinces sortirent les premiers. Ben Hadad s'informa, et on lui fit ce rapport: Des hommes sont sortis de Samarie. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐξη̃λθον παιδάρια ἀρχόντων τω̃ν χωρω̃ν ἐν πρώτοις καὶ ἀποστέλλουσιν καὶ ἀπαγγέλλουσιν τω̨̃ βασιλει̃ Συρίας λέγοντες ἄνδρες ἐξεληλύθασιν ἐκ Σαμαρείας (Ⅲ) - Egressi sunt autem pueri principum provinciarum in prima fronte. Misit itaque Benadad : qui nuntiaverunt ei, dicentes : Viri egressi sunt de Samaria. (Ⅳ) - 17 ׃20 ויצאו נערי שרי המדינות בראשנה וישלח בן הדד ויגידו לו לאמר אנשים יצאו משמרון (Ⅴ)

And he said, Whether they be come out for peace, take them alive; or whether they be come out for war, take them alive.
- Il dit: S'ils sortent pour la paix, saisissez-les vivants; et s'ils sortent pour le combat, saisissez-les vivants. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν αὐτοι̃ς εἰ εἰς εἰρήνην οὑ̃τοι ἐκπορεύονται συλλάβετε αὐτοὺς ζω̃ντας καὶ εἰ εἰς πόλεμον ζω̃ντας συλλάβετε αὐτούς (Ⅲ) - Et ille ait : Sive pro pace veniunt, apprehendite eos vivos : sive ut prælientur, vivos eos capite. (Ⅳ) - 18 ׃20 ויאמר אם לשלום יצאו תפשום חיים ואם למלחמה יצאו חיים תפשום (Ⅴ)

So these young men of the princes of the provinces came out of the city, and the army which followed them.
- Lorsque les serviteurs des chefs des provinces et l'armée qui les suivait furent sortis de la ville, (Ⅱ) - καὶ μὴ ἐξελθάτωσαν ἐκ τη̃ς πόλεως τὰ παιδάρια ἀρχόντων τω̃ν χωρω̃ν καὶ ἡ δύναμις ὀπίσω αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Egressi sunt ergo pueri principum provinciarum, ac reliquus exercitus sequebatur : (Ⅳ) - 19 ׃20 ואלה יצאו מן העיר נערי שרי המדינות והחיל אשר אחריהם (Ⅴ)

And they slew every one his man: and the Syrians fled; and Israel pursued them: and Benhadad the king of Syria escaped on an horse with the horsemen.
- chacun frappa son homme, et les Syriens prirent la fuite. Israël les poursuivit. Ben Hadad, roi de Syrie, se sauva sur un cheval, avec des cavaliers. (Ⅱ) - ἐπάταξεν ἕκαστος τὸν παρ' αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐδευτέρωσεν ἕκαστος τὸν παρ' αὐτου̃ καὶ ἔφυγεν Συρία καὶ κατεδίωξεν αὐτοὺς Ισραηλ καὶ σώ̨ζεται υἱὸς Αδερ βασιλεὺς Συρίας ἐφ' ἵππου ἱππέως (Ⅲ) - et percussit unusquisque virum qui contra se veniebat : fugeruntque Syri, et persecutus est eos Israël. Fugit quoque Benadad rex Syriæ in equo cum equitibus suis. (Ⅳ) - 20 ׃20 ויכו איש אישו וינסו ארם וירדפם ישראל וימלט בן הדד מלך ארם על סוס ופרשים (Ⅴ)

And the king of Israel went out, and smote the horses and chariots, and slew the Syrians with a great slaughter.
- Le roi d'Israël sortit, frappa les chevaux et les chars, et fit éprouver aux Syriens une grande défaite. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐξη̃λθεν βασιλεὺς Ισραηλ καὶ ἔλαβεν πάντας τοὺς ἵππους καὶ τὰ ἅρματα καὶ ἐπάταξεν πληγὴν μεγάλην ἐν Συρία̨ (Ⅲ) - Necnon egressus rex Israël percussit equos et currus, et percussit Syriam plaga magna. (Ⅳ) - 21 ׃20 ויצא מלך ישראל ויך את הסוס ואת הרכב והכה בארם מכה גדולה (Ⅴ)

And the prophet came to the king of Israel, and said unto him, Go, strengthen thyself, and mark, and see what thou doest: for at the return of the year the king of Syria will come up against thee.
- Alors le prophète s'approcha du roi d'Israël, et lui dit: Va, fortifie toi, examine et vois ce que tu as à faire; car, au retour de l'année, le roi de Syrie montera contre toi. (Ⅱ) - καὶ προση̃λθεν ὁ προφήτης πρὸς βασιλέα Ισραηλ καὶ εἰ̃πεν κραταιου̃ καὶ γνω̃θι καὶ ἰδὲ τί ποιήσεις ὅτι ἐπιστρέφοντος του̃ ἐνιαυτου̃ υἱὸς Αδερ βασιλεὺς Συρίας ἀναβαίνει ἐπὶ σέ (Ⅲ) - Accedens autem propheta ad regem Israël, dixit ei : Vade, et confortare, et scito, et vide quid facias : sequenti enim anno rex Syriæ ascendet contra te.\ (Ⅳ) - 22 ׃20 ויגש הנביא אל מלך ישראל ויאמר לו לך התחזק ודע וראה את אשר תעשה כי לתשובת השנה מלך ארם עלה עליך ס (Ⅴ)

And the servants of the king of Syria said unto him, Their gods are gods of the hills; therefore they were stronger than we; but let us fight against them in the plain, and surely we shall be stronger than they.
- Les serviteurs du roi de Syrie lui dirent: Leur dieu est un dieu de montagnes; c'est pourquoi ils ont été plus forts que nous. Mais combattons-les dans la plaine, et l'on verra si nous ne serons pas plus forts qu'eux. And do this thing, Take the kings away, every man out of his place, and put captains in their rooms:

And number thee an army, like the army that thou hast lost, horse for horse, and chariot for chariot: and we will fight against them in the plain, and surely we shall be stronger than they. And he hearkened unto their voice, and did so.
- et forme-toi une armée pareille à celle que tu as perdue, avec autant de chevaux et autant de chars. Puis nous les combattrons dans la plaine, et l'on verra si nous ne serons pas plus forts qu'eux. Il les écouta, et fit ainsi. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀλλάξομέν σοι δύναμιν κατὰ τὴν δύναμιν τὴν πεσου̃σαν ἀπὸ σου̃ καὶ ἵππον κατὰ τὴν ἵππον καὶ ἅρματα κατὰ τὰ ἅρματα καὶ πολεμήσομεν πρὸς αὐτοὺς κατ' εὐθὺ καὶ κραταιώσομεν ὑπὲρ αὐτούς καὶ ἤκουσεν τη̃ς φωνη̃ς αὐτω̃ν καὶ ἐποίησεν οὕτως (Ⅲ) - et instaura numerum militum qui ceciderunt de tuis, et equos secundum equos pristinos, et currus secundum currus quos ante habuisti : et pugnabimus contra eos in campestribus, et videbis quod obtinebimus eos. Credidit consilio eorum, et fecit ita. (Ⅳ) - 25 ׃20 ואתה תמנה לך חיל כחיל הנפל מאותך וסוס כסוס ורכב כרכב ונלחמה אותם במישור אם לא נחזק מהם וישמע לקלם ויעש כן פ (Ⅴ)

And it came to pass at the return of the year, that Benhadad numbered the Syrians, and went up to Aphek, to fight against Israel.

(Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐγένετο ἐπιστρέψαντος του̃ ἐνιαυτου̃ καὶ ἐπεσκέψατο υἱὸς Αδερ τὴν Συρίαν καὶ ἀνέβη εἰς Αφεκα εἰς πόλεμον ἐπὶ Ισραηλ (Ⅲ) - Igitur postquam annus transierat, recensuit Benadad Syros, et ascendit in Aphec ut pugnaret contra Israël. (Ⅳ) - 26 ׃20 ויהי לתשובת השנה ויפקד בן הדד את ארם ויעל אפקה למלחמה עם ישראל (Ⅴ)

And the children of Israel were numbered, and were all present, and went against them: and the children of Israel pitched before them like two little flocks of kids; but the Syrians filled the country.
- Les enfants d'Israël furent aussi passés en revue; ils reçurent des vivres, et ils marchèrent à la rencontre des Syriens. Ils campèrent vis-à-vis d'eux, semblables à deux petits troupeaux de chèvres, tandis que les Syriens remplissaient le pays. (Ⅱ) - καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ ἐπεσκέπησαν καὶ παρεγένοντο εἰς ἀπαντὴν αὐτω̃ν καὶ παρενέβαλεν Ισραηλ ἐξ ἐναντίας αὐτω̃ν ὡσεὶ δύο ποίμνια αἰγω̃ν καὶ Συρία ἔπλησεν τὴν γη̃ν (Ⅲ) - Porro filii Israël recensiti sunt, et acceptis cibariis profecti ex adverso, castraque metati sunt contra eos, quasi duo parvi greges caprarum : Syri autem repleverunt terram. (Ⅳ) - 27 ׃20 ובני ישראל התפקדו וכלכלו וילכו לקראתם ויחנו בני ישראל נגדם כשני חשפי עזים וארם מלאו את הארץ (Ⅴ)

And there came a man of God, and spake unto the king of Israel, and said, Thus saith the LORD, Because the Syrians have said, The LORD is God of the hills, but he is not God of the valleys, therefore will I deliver all this great multitude into thine hand, and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
- L'homme de Dieu s'approcha, et dit au roi d'Israël: Ainsi parle l'Éternel: Parce que les Syriens ont dit: L'Éternel est un dieu des montagnes et non un dieu des vallées, je livrerai toute cette grande multitude entre tes mains, et vous saurez que je suis l'Éternel. And they pitched one over against the other seven days. And so it was, that in the seventh day the battle was joined: and the children of Israel slew of the Syrians an hundred thousand footmen in one day.
- Ils campèrent sept jours en face les uns des autres. Le septième jour, le combat s'engagea, et les enfants d'Israël tuèrent aux Syriens cent mille hommes de pied en un jour. (Ⅱ) - καὶ παρεμβάλλουσιν οὑ̃τοι ἀπέναντι τούτων ἑπτὰ ἡμέρας καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ τη̨̃ ἑβδόμη̨ καὶ προσήγαγεν ὁ πόλεμος καὶ ἐπάταξεν Ισραηλ τὴν Συρίαν ἑκατὸν χιλιάδας πεζω̃ν μια̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ (Ⅲ) - Dirigebantque septem diebus ex adverso hi atque illi acies, septima autem die commissum est bellum : percusseruntque filii Israël de Syris centum millia peditum in die una. (Ⅳ) - 29 ׃20 ויחנו אלה נכח אלה שבעת ימים ויהי ביום השביעי ותקרב המלחמה ויכו בני ישראל את ארם מאה אלף רגלי ביום אחד (Ⅴ)

But the rest fled to Aphek, into the city; and there a wall fell upon twenty and seven thousand of the men that were left. And Benhadad fled, and came into the city, into an inner chamber.
- Le reste s'enfuit à la ville d'Aphek, et la muraille tomba sur vingt-sept mille hommes qui restaient. Ben Hadad s'était réfugié dans la ville, où il allait de chambre en chambre. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔφυγον οἱ κατάλοιποι εἰς Αφεκα εἰς τὴν πόλιν καὶ ἔπεσεν τὸ τει̃χος ἐπὶ εἴκοσι καὶ ἑπτὰ χιλιάδας ἀνδρω̃ν τω̃ν καταλοίπων καὶ υἱὸς Αδερ ἔφυγεν καὶ εἰση̃λθεν εἰς τὸν οἰ̃κον του̃ κοιτω̃νος εἰς τὸ ταμίειον (Ⅲ) - Fugerunt autem qui remanserant in Aphec, in civitatem : et cecidit murus super viginti septem millia hominum qui remanserant. Porro Benadad fugiens ingressus est civitatem, in cubiculum quod erat intra cubiculum. And his servants said unto him, Behold now, we have heard that the kings of the house of Israel are merciful kings: let us, I pray thee, put sackcloth on our loins, and ropes upon our heads, and go out to the king of Israel: peradventure he will save thy life.
- Ses serviteurs lui dirent: Voici, nous avons appris que les rois de la maison d'Israël sont des rois miséricordieux; nous allons mettre des sacs sur nos reins et des cordes à nos têtes, et nous sortirons vers le roi d'Israël: peut-être qu'il te laissera la vie. So they girded sackcloth on their loins, and put ropes on their heads, and came to the king of Israel, and said, Thy servant Benhadad saith, I pray thee, let me live. And he said, Is he yet alive? he is my brother.
- Ils se mirent des sacs autour des reins et des cordes autour de la tête, et ils allèrent auprès du roi d'Israël. Ils dirent: Ton serviteur Ben Hadad dit: Laisse-moi la vie! Achab répondit: Est-il encore vivant? Il est mon frère. (Ⅱ) - καὶ περιεζώσαντο σάκκους ἐπὶ τὰς ὀσφύας αὐτω̃ν καὶ ἔθεσαν σχοινία ἐπὶ τὰς κεφαλὰς αὐτω̃ν καὶ εἰ̃πον τω̨̃ βασιλει̃ Ισραηλ δου̃λός σου υἱὸς Αδερ λέγει ζησάτω δὴ ἡ ψυχή μου καὶ εἰ̃πεν εἰ ἔτι ζη̨̃ ἀδελφός μού ἐστιν (Ⅲ) - Accinxerunt saccis lumbos suos, et posuerunt funiculos in capitibus suis, veneruntque ad regem Israël, et dixerunt ei : Servus tuus Benadad dicit : Vivat, oro te, anima mea. Et ille ait : Si adhuc vivit, frater meus est. (Ⅳ) - 32 ׃20 ויחגרו שקים במתניהם וחבלים בראשיהם ויבאו אל מלך ישראל ויאמרו עבדך בן הדד אמר תחי נא נפשי ויאמר העודנו חי אחי הוא (Ⅴ)

Now the men did diligently observe whether any thing would come from him, and did hastily catch it: and they said, Thy brother Benhadad. Then he said, Go ye, bring him. Then Benhadad came forth to him; and he caused him to come up into the chariot.
- Ces hommes tirèrent de là un bon augure, et ils se hâtèrent de le prendre au mot et de dire: Ben Hadad est ton frère! Et il dit: Allez, amenez-le. Ben Hadad vint vers lui, et Achab le fit monter sur son char. (Ⅱ) - καὶ οἱ ἄνδρες οἰωνίσαντο καὶ ἔσπευσαν καὶ ἀνέλεξαν τὸν λόγον ἐκ του̃ στόματος αὐτου̃ καὶ εἰ̃πον ἀδελφός σου υἱὸς Αδερ καὶ εἰ̃πεν εἰσέλθατε καὶ λάβετε αὐτόν καὶ ἐξη̃λθεν πρὸς αὐτὸν υἱὸς Αδερ καὶ ἀναβιβάζουσιν αὐτὸν πρὸς αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τὸ ἅρμα (Ⅲ) - Quod acceperunt viri pro omine : et festinantes rapuerunt verbum ex ore ejus, atque dixerunt : Frater tuus Benadad. Et dixit eis : Ite, et adducite eum ad me. Egressus est ergo ad eum Benadad, et levavit eum in currum suum. (Ⅳ) - 33 ׃20 והאנשים ינחשו וימהרו ויחלטו הממנו ויאמרו אחיך בן הדד ויאמר באו קחהו ויצא אליו בן הדד ויעלהו על המרכבה (Ⅴ)

And Ben-hadad said unto him, The cities, which my father took from thy father, I will restore; and thou shalt make streets for thee in Damascus, as my father made in Samaria. Then said Ahab, I will send thee away with this covenant. So he made a covenant with him, and sent him away.
- Ben Hadad lui dit: Je te rendrai les villes que mon père a prises à ton père; et tu établiras pour toi des rues à Damas, comme mon père en avait établies à Samarie. Et moi, reprit Achab, je te laisserai aller, en faisant une alliance. Il fit alliance avec lui, et le laissa aller. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν πρὸς αὐτόν τὰς πόλεις ἃς ἔλαβεν ὁ πατήρ μου παρὰ του̃ πατρός σου ἀποδώσω σοι καὶ ἐξόδους θήσεις σαυτω̨̃ ἐν Δαμασκω̨̃ καθὼς ἔθετο ὁ πατήρ μου ἐν Σαμαρεία̨ καὶ ἐγὼ ἐν διαθήκη̨ ἐξαποστελω̃ σε καὶ διέθετο αὐτω̨̃ διαθήκην καὶ ἐξαπέστειλεν αὐτόν (Ⅲ) - Qui dixit ei : Civitates quas tulit pater meus a patre tuo, reddam : et plateas fac tibi in Damasco, sicut fecit pater meus in Samaria, et ego fœderatus recedam a te. Pepigit ergo fœdus, et dimisit eum.\ (Ⅳ) - 34 ׃20 ויאמר אליו הערים אשר לקח אבי מאת אביך אשיב וחוצות תשים לך בדמשק כאשר שם אבי בשמרון ואני בברית אשלחך ויכרת לו ברית וישלחהו ס (Ⅴ)

And a certain man of the sons of the prophets said unto his neighbor in the word of the LORD, Smite me, I pray thee. And the man refused to smite him.
- L'un des fils des prophètes dit à son compagnon, d'après l'ordre de l'Éternel: Frappe-moi, je te prie! Mais cet homme refusa de le frapper. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἄνθρωπος εἱ̃ς ἐκ τω̃ν υἱω̃ν τω̃ν προφητω̃ν εἰ̃πεν πρὸς τὸν πλησίον αὐτου̃ ἐν λόγω̨ κυρίου πάταξον δή με καὶ οὐκ ἠθέλησεν ὁ ἄνθρωπος πατάξαι αὐτόν (Ⅲ) - Tunc vir quidam de filiis prophetarum dixit ad socium suum in sermone Domini : Percute me. At ille noluit percutere. (Ⅳ) - 35 ׃20 ואיש אחד מבני הנביאים אמר אל רעהו בדבר יהוה הכיני נא וימאן האיש להכתו (Ⅴ)

Then said he unto him, Because thou hast not obeyed the voice of the LORD, behold, as soon as thou art departed from me, a lion shall slay thee. And as soon as he was departed from him, a lion found him, and slew him.
- Alors il lui dit: Parce que tu n'as pas obéi à la voix de l'Éternel, voici, quand tu m'auras quitté, le lion te frappera. Et quand il l'eut quitté, le lion le rencontra et le frappa. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν πρὸς αὐτόν ἀνθ' ὡ̃ν οὐκ ἤκουσας τη̃ς φωνη̃ς κυρίου ἰδοὺ σὺ ἀποτρέχεις ἀπ' ἐμου̃ καὶ πατάξει σε λέων καὶ ἀπη̃λθεν ἀπ' αὐτου̃ καὶ εὑρίσκει αὐτὸν λέων καὶ ἐπάταξεν αὐτόν (Ⅲ) - Cui ait : Quia noluisti audire vocem Domini, ecce recedes a me, et percutiet te leo. Cumque paululum recessisset ab eo, invenit eum leo, atque percussit. (Ⅳ) - 36 ׃20 ויאמר לו יען אשר לא שמעת בקול יהוה הנך הולך מאתי והכך האריה וילך מאצלו וימצאהו האריה ויכהו (Ⅴ)

Then he found another man, and said, Smite me, I pray thee. And the man smote him, so that in smiting he wounded him.

(Ⅱ) - καὶ εὑρίσκει ἄνθρωπον ἄλλον καὶ εἰ̃πεν πάταξόν με δή καὶ ἐπάταξεν αὐτὸν ὁ ἄνθρωπος πατάξας καὶ συνέτριψεν (Ⅲ) - Sed et alterum inveniens virum, dixit ad eum : Percute me. Qui percussit eum, et vulneravit. (Ⅳ) - 37 ׃20 וימצא איש אחר ויאמר הכיני נא ויכהו האיש הכה ופצע (Ⅴ)

So the prophet departed, and waited for the king by the way, and disguised himself with ashes upon his face.

(Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐπορεύθη ὁ προφήτης καὶ ἔστη τω̨̃ βασιλει̃ Ισραηλ ἐπὶ τη̃ς ὁδου̃ καὶ κατεδήσατο τελαμω̃νι τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - Abiit ergo propheta, et occurrit regi in via, et mutavit aspersione pulveris os et oculos suos. (Ⅳ) - 38 ׃20 וילך הנביא ויעמד למלך על הדרך ויתחפש באפר על עיניו (Ⅴ)

And as the king passed by, he cried unto the king: and he said, Thy servant went out into the midst of the battle; and, behold, a man turned aside, and brought a man unto me, and said, Keep this man: if by any means he be missing, then shall thy life be for his life, or else thou shalt pay a talent of silver.
- Lorsque le roi passa, il cria vers lui, et dit: Ton serviteur était au milieu du combat; et voici, un homme s'approche et m'amène un homme, en disant: Garde cet homme; s'il vient à manquer, ta vie répondra de sa vie, ou tu paieras un talent d'argent! (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ὁ βασιλεὺς παρεπορεύετο καὶ οὑ̃τος ἐβόα πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα καὶ εἰ̃πεν ὁ δου̃λός σου ἐξη̃λθεν ἐπὶ τὴν στρατιὰν του̃ πολέμου καὶ ἰδοὺ ἀνὴρ εἰσήγαγεν πρός με ἄνδρα καὶ εἰ̃πεν πρός με φύλαξον του̃τον τὸν ἄνδρα ἐὰν δὲ ἐκπηδω̃ν ἐκπηδήση̨ καὶ ἔσται ἡ ψυχή σου ἀντὶ τη̃ς ψυχη̃ς αὐτου̃ ἢ τάλαντον ἀργυρίου στήσεις (Ⅲ) - Cumque rex transisset, clamavit ad regem, et ait : Servus tuus egressus est ad præliandum cominus : cumque fugisset vir unus, adduxit eum quidam ad me, et ait : Custodi virum istum : qui si lapsus fuerit, erit anima tua pro anima ejus, aut talentum argenti appendes. (Ⅳ) - 39 ׃20 ויהי המלך עבר והוא צעק אל המלך ויאמר עבדך יצא בקרב המלחמה והנה איש סר ויבא אלי איש ויאמר שמר את האיש הזה אם הפקד יפקד והיתה נפשך תחת נפשו או ככר כסף תשקול (Ⅴ)

And as thy servant was busy here and there, he was gone. And the king of Israel said unto him, So shall thy judgment be; thyself hast decided it.
- Et pendant que ton serviteur agissait çà et là, l'homme a disparu. Le roi d'Israël lui dit: C'est là ton jugement; tu l'as prononcé toi-même. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐγενήθη περιεβλέψατο ὁ δου̃λός σου ὡ̃δε καὶ ὡ̃δε καὶ οὑ̃τος οὐκ ἠ̃ν καὶ εἰ̃πεν πρὸς αὐτὸν ὁ βασιλεὺς Ισραηλ ἰδοὺ καὶ τὰ ἔνεδρα παρ' ἐμοὶ ἐφόνευσας (Ⅲ) - Dum autem ego turbatus huc illucque me verterem, subito non comparuit. Et ait rex Israël ad eum : Hoc est judicium tuum, quod ipse decrevisti. (Ⅳ) - 40 ׃20 ויהי עבדך עשה הנה והנה והוא איננו ויאמר אליו מלך ישראל כן משפטך אתה חרצת (Ⅴ)

And he hasted, and took the ashes away from his face; and the king of Israel discerned him that he was of the prophets.

(Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔσπευσεν καὶ ἀφει̃λεν τὸν τελαμω̃να ἀπὸ τω̃ν ὀφθαλμω̃ν αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐπέγνω αὐτὸν ὁ βασιλεὺς Ισραηλ ὅτι ἐκ τω̃ν προφητω̃ν οὑ̃τος (Ⅲ) - At ille statim abstersit pulverem de facie sua, et cognovit eum rex Israël, quod esset de prophetis. (Ⅳ) - 41 ׃20 וימהר ויסר את האפר *מעל **מעלי עיניו ויכר אתו מלך ישראל כי מהנבאים הוא (Ⅴ)

And he said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Because thou hast let go out of thy hand a man whom I appointed to utter destruction, therefore thy life shall go for his life, and thy people for his people.
- Il dit alors au roi: Ainsi parle l'Éternel: Parce que tu as laissé échapper de tes mains l'homme que j'avais dévoué par interdit, ta vie répondra de sa vie, et ton peuple de son peuple. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν πρὸς αὐτόν τάδε λέγει κύριος διότι ἐξήνεγκας σὺ ἄνδρα ὀλέθριον ἐκ χειρός σου καὶ ἔσται ἡ ψυχή σου ἀντὶ τη̃ς ψυχη̃ς αὐτου̃ καὶ ὁ λαός σου ἀντὶ του̃ λαου̃ αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - Qui ait ad eum : Hæc dicit Dominus : Quia dimisisti virum dignum morte de manu tua, erit anima tua pro anima ejus, et populus tuus pro populo ejus. (Ⅳ) - 42 ׃20 ויאמר אליו כה אמר יהוה יען שלחת את איש חרמי מיד והיתה נפשך תחת נפשו ועמך תחת עמו (Ⅴ)

And the king of Israel went to his house heavy and displeased, and came to Samaria.

(Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀπη̃λθεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Ισραηλ συγκεχυμένος καὶ ἐκλελυμένος καὶ ἔρχεται εἰς Σαμάρειαν (Ⅲ) - Reversus est igitur rex Israël in domum suam, audire contemnens, et furibundus venit in Samariam. (Ⅳ) - 43 ׃20 וילך מלך ישראל על ביתו סר וזעף ויבא שמרונה פ (Ⅴ)
