18. 1

Now it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign.

- La troisième année d'Osée, fils d'Éla, roi d'Israël, Ézéchias, fils d'Achaz, roi de Juda, régna. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν ἔτει τρίτω̨ τω̨̃ Ωσηε υἱω̨̃ Ηλα βασιλει̃ Ισραηλ ἐβασίλευσεν Εζεκιας υἱὸς Αχαζ βασιλέως Ιουδα (Ⅲ)

- Anno tertio Osee filii Ela regis Israël, regnavit Ezechias filius Achaz regis Juda. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 1 ׃18 ויהי בשנת שלש להושע בן אלה מלך ישראל מלך חזקיה בן אחז מלך יהודה ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 2

Twenty and five years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Abi, the daughter of Zachariah.

- Il avait vingt-cinq ans lorsqu'il devint roi, et il régna vingt-neuf ans à Jérusalem. Sa mère s'appelait Abi, fille de Zacharie. (Ⅱ)

- υἱὸς εἴκοσι καὶ πέντε ἐτω̃ν ἠ̃ν ἐν τω̨̃ βασιλεύειν αὐτὸν καὶ εἴκοσι καὶ ἐννέα ἔτη ἐβασίλευσεν ἐν Ιερουσαλημ καὶ ὄνομα τη̨̃ μητρὶ αὐτου̃ Αβου θυγάτηρ Ζαχαριου (Ⅲ)

- Viginti quinque annorum erat cum regnare cœpisset, et viginti novem annis regnavit in Jerusalem : nomen matris ejus Abi filia Zachariæ. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 2 ׃18 בן עשרים וחמש שנה היה במלכו ועשרים ותשע שנה מלך בירושלם ושם אמו אבי בת זכריה ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 3

And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that David his father did.

- Il fit ce qui est droit aux yeux de l'Éternel, entièrement comme avait fait David, son père. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐποίησεν τὸ εὐθὲς ἐν ὀφθαλμοι̃ς κυρίου κατὰ πάντα ὅσα ἐποίησεν Δαυιδ ὁ πατὴρ αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Fecitque quod erat bonum coram Domino, juxta omnia quæ fecerat David pater ejus. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 3 ׃18 ויעש הישר בעיני יהוה ככל אשר עשה דוד אביו ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 4

He removed the high places, and brake the images, and cut down the groves, and brake in pieces the brazen serpent that Moses had made: for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it: and he called it Nehushtan.

- Il fit disparaître les hauts lieux, brisa les statues, abattit les idoles, et mit en pièces le serpent d'airain que Moïse avait fait, car les enfants d'Israël avaient jusqu'alors brûlé des parfums devant lui: on l'appelait Nehuschtan. (Ⅱ)

- αὐτὸς ἐξη̃ρεν τὰ ὑψηλὰ καὶ συνέτριψεν πάσας τὰς στήλας καὶ ἐξωλέθρευσεν τὰ ἄλση καὶ τὸν ὄφιν τὸν χαλκου̃ν ὃν ἐποίησεν Μωυση̃ς ὅτι ἕως τω̃ν ἡμερω̃ν ἐκείνων ἠ̃σαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ θυμιω̃ντες αὐτω̨̃ καὶ ἐκάλεσεν αὐτὸν Νεεσθαν (Ⅲ)

- Ipse dissipavit excelsa, et contrivit statuas, et succidit lucos, confregitque serpentem æneum quem fecerat Moyses : siquidem usque ad illud tempus filii Israël adolebant ei incensum : vocavitque nomen ejus Nohestan. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 4 ׃18 הוא הסיר את הבמות ושבר את המצבת וכרת את האשרה וכתת נחש הנחשת אשר עשה משה כי עד הימים ההמה היו בני ישראל מקטרים לו ויקרא לו נחשתן ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 5

He trusted in the LORD God of Israel; so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor any that were before him.

- Il mit sa confiance en l'Éternel, le Dieu d'Israël; et parmi tous les rois de Juda qui vinrent après lui ou qui le précédèrent, il n'y en eut point de semblable à lui. (Ⅱ)

- ἐν κυρίω̨ θεω̨̃ Ισραηλ ἤλπισεν καὶ μετ' αὐτὸν οὐκ ἐγενήθη ὅμοιος αὐτω̨̃ ἐν βασιλευ̃σιν Ιουδα καὶ ἐν τοι̃ς γενομένοις ἔμπροσθεν αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- In Domino Deo Israël speravit : itaque post eum non fuit similis ei de cunctis regibus Juda, sed neque in his qui ante eum fuerunt : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 5 ׃18 ביהוה אלהי ישראל בטח ואחריו לא היה כמהו בכל מלכי יהודה ואשר היו לפניו ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 6

For he clave to the LORD, and departed not from following him, but kept his commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses.

- Il fut attaché à l'Éternel, il ne se détourna point de lui, et il observa les commandements que l'Éternel avait prescrits à Moïse. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐκολλήθη τω̨̃ κυρίω̨ οὐκ ἀπέστη ὄπισθεν αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐφύλαξεν τὰς ἐντολὰς αὐτου̃ ὅσας ἐνετείλατο Μωυση̨̃ (Ⅲ)

- et adhæsit Domino, et non recessit a vestigiis ejus, fecitque mandata ejus, quæ præceperat Dominus Moysi. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 6 ׃18 וידבק ביהוה לא סר מאחריו וישמר מצותיו אשר צוה יהוה את משה ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 7

And the LORD was with him; and he prospered whithersoever he went forth: and he rebelled against the king of Assyria, and served him not.

- Et l'Éternel fut avec Ézéchias, qui réussit dans toutes ses entreprises. Il se révolta contre le roi d'Assyrie, et ne lui fut plus assujetti. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἠ̃ν κύριος μετ' αὐτου̃ ἐν πα̃σιν οἱ̃ς ἐποίει συνη̃κεν καὶ ἠθέτησεν ἐν τω̨̃ βασιλει̃ 'Ασσυρίων καὶ οὐκ ἐδούλευσεν αὐτω̨̃ (Ⅲ)

- Unde et erat Dominus cum eo, et in cunctis ad quæ procedebat, sapienter se agebat. Rebellavit quoque contra regem Assyriorum, et non servivit ei. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 7 ׃18 והיה יהוה עמו בכל אשר יצא ישכיל וימרד במלך אשור ולא עבדו ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 8

He smote the Philistines, even unto Gaza, and the borders thereof, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.

- Il battit les Philistins jusqu'à Gaza, et ravagea leur territoire depuis les tours des gardes jusqu'aux villes fortes. (Ⅱ)

- αὐτὸς ἐπάταξεν τοὺς ἀλλοφύλους ἕως Γάζης καὶ ἕως ὁρίου αὐτη̃ς ἀπὸ πύργου φυλασσόντων καὶ ἕως πόλεως ὀχυρα̃ς (Ⅲ)

- Ipse percussit Philisthæos usque ad Gazam, et omnes terminos eorum, a turre custodum usque ad civitatem munitam. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 8 ׃18 הוא הכה את פלשתים עד עזה ואת גבוליה ממגדל נוצרים עד עיר מבצר פ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 9

And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Hezekiah, which was the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria, and besieged it.

- La quatrième année du roi Ézéchias, qui était la septième année d'Osée, fils d'Éla, roi d'Israël, Salmanasar, roi d'Assyrie, monta contre Samarie et l'assiégea. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τω̨̃ ἔτει τω̨̃ τετάρτω̨ βασιλει̃ Εζεκια αὐτὸς ἐνιαυτὸς ὁ ἕβδομος τω̨̃ Ωσηε υἱω̨̃ Ηλα βασιλει̃ Ισραηλ ἀνέβη Σαλαμανασσαρ βασιλεὺς 'Ασσυρίων ἐπὶ Σαμάρειαν καὶ ἐπολιόρκει ἐπ' αὐτήν (Ⅲ)

- Anno quarto regis Ezechiæ, qui erat annus septimus Osee filii Ela regis Israël, ascendit Salmanasar rex Assyriorum in Samariam, et oppugnavit eam, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 9 ׃18 ויהי בשנה הרביעית למלך חזקיהו היא השנה השביעית להושע בן אלה מלך ישראל עלה שלמנאסר מלך אשור על שמרון ויצר עליה ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 10

And at the end of three years they took it: even in the sixth year of Hezekiah, that is in the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, Samaria was taken.

- Il la prit au bout de trois ans, la sixième année d'Ézéchias, qui était la neuvième année d'Osée, roi d'Israël: alors Samarie fut prise. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ κατελάβετο αὐτὴν ἀπὸ τέλους τριω̃ν ἐτω̃ν ἐν ἔτει ἕκτω̨ τω̨̃ Εζεκια αὐτὸς ἐνιαυτὸς ἔνατος τω̨̃ Ωσηε βασιλει̃ Ισραηλ καὶ συνελήμφθη Σαμάρεια (Ⅲ)

- et cepit. Nam post annos tres, anno sexto Ezechiæ, id est nono anno Osee regis Israël, capta est Samaria : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 10 ׃18 וילכדה מקצה שלש שנים בשנת שש לחזקיה היא שנת תשע להושע מלך ישראל נלכדה שמרון ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 11

And the king of Assyria did carry away Israel unto Assyria, and put them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes:

- Le roi d'Assyrie emmena Israël captif en Assyrie, et il les établit à Chalach, et sur le Chabor, fleuve de Gozan, et dans les villes des Mèdes, (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀπώ̨κισεν βασιλεὺς 'Ασσυρίων τὴν Σαμάρειαν εἰς 'Ασσυρίους καὶ ἔθηκεν αὐτοὺς ἐν Αλαε καὶ ἐν Αβωρ ποταμω̨̃ Γωζαν καὶ Ορη Μήδων (Ⅲ)

- et transtulit rex Assyriorum Israël in Assyrios, collocavitque eos in Hala et in Habor fluviis Gozan in civitatibus Medorum : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 11 ׃18 ויגל מלך אשור את ישראל אשורה וינחם בחלח ובחבור נהר גוזן וערי מדי ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 12

Because they obeyed not the voice of the LORD their God, but transgressed his covenant, and all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded, and would not hear them, nor do them.

- parce qu'ils n'avaient point écouté la voix de l'Éternel, leur Dieu, et qu'ils avaient transgressé son alliance, parce qu'ils n'avaient ni écouté ni mis en pratique tout ce qu'avait ordonné Moïse, serviteur de l'Éternel. (Ⅱ)

- ἀνθ' ὡ̃ν ὅτι οὐκ ἤκουσαν τη̃ς φωνη̃ς κυρίου θεου̃ αὐτω̃ν καὶ παρέβησαν τὴν διαθήκην αὐτου̃ πάντα ὅσα ἐνετείλατο Μωυση̃ς ὁ δου̃λος κυρίου καὶ οὐκ ἤκουσαν καὶ οὐκ ἐποίησαν (Ⅲ)

- quia non audierunt vocem Domini Dei sui, sed prætergressi sunt pactum ejus : omnia quæ præceperat Moyses servus Domini non audierunt, neque fecerunt.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 12 ׃18 על אשר לא שמעו בקול יהוה אלהיהם ויעברו את בריתו את כל אשר צוה משה עבד יהוה ולא שמעו ולא עשו פ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 13

Now in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah did Sennacherib king of Assyria come up against all the fenced cities of Judah, and took them.

- La quatorzième année du roi Ézéchias, Sanchérib, roi d'Assyrie, monta contre toutes les villes fortes de Juda, et s'en empara. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ τω̨̃ τεσσαρεσκαιδεκάτω̨ ἔτει βασιλει̃ Εζεκιου ἀνέβη Σενναχηριμ βασιλεὺς 'Ασσυρίων ἐπὶ τὰς πόλεις Ιουδα τὰς ὀχυρὰς καὶ συνέλαβεν αὐτάς (Ⅲ)

- Anno quartodecimo regis Ezechiæ, ascendit Sennacherib rex Assyriorum ad universas civitates Juda munitas, et cepit eas. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 13 ׃18 ובארבע עשרה שנה למלך חזקיה עלה סנחריב מלך אשור על כל ערי יהודה הבצרות ויתפשם ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 14

And Hezekiah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria to Lachish, saying, I have offended; return from me: that which thou puttest on me will I bear. And the king of Assyria appointed unto Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold.

- Ézéchias, roi de Juda, envoya dire au roi d'Assyrie à Lakis: J'ai commis une faute! Éloigne-toi de moi. Ce que tu m'imposeras, je le supporterai. Et le roi d'Assyrie imposa à Ézéchias, roi de Juda, trois cents talents d'argent et trente talents d'or. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀπέστειλεν Εζεκιας βασιλεὺς Ιουδα ἀγγέλους πρὸς βασιλέα 'Ασσυρίων εἰς Λαχις λέγων ἡμάρτηκα ἀποστράφητι ἀπ' ἐμου̃ ὃ ἐὰν ἐπιθη̨̃ς ἐπ' ἐμέ βαστάσω καὶ ἐπέθηκεν ὁ βασιλεὺς 'Ασσυρίων ἐπὶ Εζεκιαν βασιλέα Ιουδα τριακόσια τάλαντα ἀργυρίου καὶ τριάκοντα τάλαντα χρυσίου (Ⅲ)

- Tunc misit Ezechias rex Juda nuntios ad regem Assyriorum in Lachis, dicens : Peccavi : recede a me, et omne quod imposueris mihi, feram. Indixit itaque rex Assyriorum Ezechiæ regi Judæ trecenta talenta argenti, et triginta talenta auri. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 14 ׃18 וישלח חזקיה מלך יהודה אל מלך אשור לכישה לאמר חטאתי שוב מעלי את אשר תתן עלי אשא וישם מלך אשור על חזקיה מלך יהודה שלש מאות ככר כסף ושלשים ככר זהב ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 15

And Hezekiah gave him all the silver that was found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king's house.

- Ézéchias donna tout l'argent qui se trouvait dans la maison de l'Éternel et dans les trésors de la maison du roi. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἔδωκεν Εζεκιας πα̃ν τὸ ἀργύριον τὸ εὑρεθὲν ἐν οἴκω̨ κυρίου καὶ ἐν θησαυροι̃ς οἴκου του̃ βασιλέως (Ⅲ)

- Deditque Ezechias omne argentum quod repertum fuerat in domo Domini et in thesauris regis. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 15 ׃18 ויתן חזקיה את כל הכסף הנמצא בית יהוה ובאצרות בית המלך ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 16

At that time did Hezekiah cut off the gold from the doors of the temple of the LORD, and from the pillars which Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid, and gave it to the king of Assyria.

- Ce fut alors qu'Ézéchias, roi de Juda, enleva, pour les livrer au roi d'Assyrie, les lames d'or dont il avait couvert les portes et les linteaux du temple de l'Éternel. (Ⅱ)

- ἐν τω̨̃ καιρω̨̃ ἐκείνω̨ συνέκοψεν Εζεκιας τὰς θύρας ναου̃ κυρίου καὶ τὰ ἐστηριγμένα ἃ ἐχρύσωσεν Εζεκιας βασιλεὺς Ιουδα καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτὰ βασιλει̃ 'Ασσυρίων (Ⅲ)

- In tempore illo confregit Ezechias valvas templi Domini, et laminas auri quas ipse affixerat, et dedit eas regi Assyriorum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 16 ׃18 בעת ההיא קצץ חזקיה את דלתות היכל יהוה ואת האמנות אשר צפה חזקיה מלך יהודה ויתנם למלך אשור פ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 17

And the king of Assyria sent Tartan and Rabsaris and Rabshakeh from Lachish to king Hezekiah with a great host against Jerusalem. And they went up and came to Jerusalem. And when they were come up, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is in the highway of the fuller's field.

- Le roi d'Assyrie envoya de Lakis à Jérusalem, vers le roi Ézéchias, Tharthan, Rab Saris et Rabschaké avec une puissante armée. Ils montèrent, et ils arrivèrent à Jérusalem. Lorsqu'ils furent montés et arrivés, ils s'arrêtèrent à l'aqueduc de l'étang supérieur, sur le chemin du champ du foulon. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀπέστειλεν βασιλεὺς 'Ασσυρίων τὸν Θαρθαν καὶ τὸν Ραφις καὶ τὸν Ραψακην ἐκ Λαχις πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα Εζεκιαν ἐν δυνάμει βαρεία̨ ἐπὶ Ιερουσαλημ καὶ ἀνέβησαν καὶ ἠ̃λθον εἰς Ιερουσαλημ καὶ ἔστησαν ἐν τω̨̃ ὑδραγωγω̨̃ τη̃ς κολυμβήθρας τη̃ς ἄνω ἥ ἐστιν ἐν τη̨̃ ὁδω̨̃ του̃ ἀγρου̃ του̃ γναφέως (Ⅲ)

- Misit autem rex Assyriorum Tharthan, et Rabsaris, et Rabsacen de Lachis ad regem Ezechiam cum manu valida Jerusalem : qui cum ascendissent, venerunt Jerusalem, et steterunt juxta aquæductum piscinæ superioris, quæ est in via Agrifullonis. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 17 ׃18 וישלח מלך אשור את תרתן ואת רב סריס ואת רב שקה מן לכיש אל המלך חזקיהו בחיל כבד ירושלם ויעלו ויבאו ירושלם ויעלו ויבאו ויעמדו בתעלת הברכה העליונה אשר במסלת שדה כובס ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 18

And when they had called to the king, there came out to them Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder.

- Ils appelèrent le roi; et Éliakim, fils de Hilkija, chef de la maison du roi, se rendit auprès d'eux, avec Schebna, le secrétaire, et Joach, fils d'Asaph, l'archiviste. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐβόησαν πρὸς Εζεκιαν καὶ ἐξη̃λθον πρὸς αὐτὸν Ελιακιμ υἱὸς Χελκιου ὁ οἰκονόμος καὶ Σομνας ὁ γραμματεὺς καὶ Ιωας υἱὸς Ασαφ ὁ ἀναμιμνή̨σκων (Ⅲ)

- Vocaveruntque regem : egressus est autem ad eos Eliacim filius Helciæ præpositus domus, et Sobna scriba, et Joahe filius Asaph a commentariis. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 18 ׃18 ויקראו אל המלך ויצא אלהם אליקים בן חלקיהו אשר על הבית ושבנה הספר ויואח בן אסף המזכיר ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 19

And Rabshakeh said unto them, Speak ye now to Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this wherein thou trustest?

- Rabschaké leur dit: Dites à Ézéchias: Ainsi parle le grand roi, le roi d'Assyrie: Quelle est cette confiance, sur laquelle tu t'appuies? (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν πρὸς αὐτοὺς Ραψακης εἴπατε δὴ πρὸς Εζεκιαν τάδε λέγει ὁ βασιλεὺς ὁ μέγας βασιλεὺς 'Ασσυρίων τίς ἡ πεποίθησις αὕτη ἣν πέποιθας (Ⅲ)

- Dixitque ad eos Rabsaces : Loquimini Ezechiæ : Hæc dicit rex magnus, rex Assyriorum : Quæ est ista fiducia, qua niteris ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 19 ׃18 ויאמר אלהם רב שקה אמרו נא אל חזקיהו כה אמר המלך הגדול מלך אשור מה הבטחון הזה אשר בטחת ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 20

Thou sayest, (but they are but vain words,) I have counsel and strength for the war. Now on whom dost thou trust, that thou rebellest against me?

- Tu as dit: Il faut pour la guerre de la prudence et de la force. Mais ce ne sont que des paroles en l'air. En qui donc as-tu placé ta confiance, pour t'être révolté contre moi? (Ⅱ)

- εἰ̃πας πλὴν λόγοι χειλέων βουλὴ καὶ δύναμις εἰς πόλεμον νυ̃ν οὐ̃ν τίνι πεποιθὼς ἠθέτησας ἐν ἐμοί (Ⅲ)

- forsitan inisti consilium, ut præpares te ad prælium. In quo confidis, ut audeas rebellare ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 20 ׃18 אמרת אך דבר שפתים עצה וגבורה למלחמה עתה על מי בטחת כי מרדת בי ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 21

Now, behold, thou trustest upon the staff of this bruised reed, even upon Egypt, on which if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt unto all that trust on him.

- Voici, tu l'as placée dans l'Égypte, tu as pris pour soutien ce roseau cassé, qui pénètre et perce la main de quiconque s'appuie dessus: tel est Pharaon, roi d'Égypte, pour tous ceux qui se confient en lui. (Ⅱ)

- νυ̃ν ἰδοὺ πέποιθας σαυτω̨̃ ἐπὶ τὴν ῥάβδον τὴν καλαμίνην τὴν τεθλασμένην ταύτην ἐπ' Αἴγυπτον ὃς ἂν στηριχθη̨̃ ἀνὴρ ἐπ' αὐτήν καὶ εἰσελεύσεται εἰς τὴν χει̃ρα αὐτου̃ καὶ τρήσει αὐτήν οὕτως Φαραω βασιλεὺς Αἰγύπτου πα̃σιν τοι̃ς πεποιθόσιν ἐπ' αὐτόν (Ⅲ)

- an speras in baculo arundineo atque confracto Ægypto, super quem, si incubuerit homo, comminutus ingredietur manum ejus, et perforabit eam ? sic est Pharao rex Ægypti omnibus qui confidunt in se. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 21 ׃18 עתה הנה בטחת לך על משענת הקנה הרצוץ הזה על מצרים אשר יסמך איש עליו ובא בכפו ונקבה כן פרעה מלך מצרים לכל הבטחים עליו ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 22

But if ye say unto me, We trust in the LORD our God: is not that he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and hath said to Judah and Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem?

- Peut-être me direz-vous: C'est en l'Éternel, notre Dieu, que nous nous confions. Mais n'est-ce pas lui dont Ézéchias a fait disparaître les hauts lieux et les autels, en disant à Juda et à Jérusalem: Vous vous prosternerez devant cet autel à Jérusalem? (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ὅτι εἰ̃πας πρός με ἐπὶ κύριον θεὸν πεποίθαμεν οὐχὶ αὐτὸς οὑ̃τος οὑ̃ ἀπέστησεν Εζεκιας τὰ ὑψηλὰ αὐτου̃ καὶ τὰ θυσιαστήρια αὐτου̃ καὶ εἰ̃πεν τω̨̃ Ιουδα καὶ τη̨̃ Ιερουσαλημ ἐνώπιον του̃ θυσιαστηρίου τούτου προσκυνήσετε ἐν Ιερουσαλημ (Ⅲ)

- Quod si dixeritis mihi : In Domino Deo nostro habemus fiduciam : nonne iste est, cujus abstulit Ezechias excelsa et altaria, et præcepit Judæ et Jerusalem : Ante altare hoc adorabitis in Jerusalem ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 22 ׃18 וכי תאמרון אלי אל יהוה אלהינו בטחנו הלוא הוא אשר הסיר חזקיהו את במתיו ואת מזבחתיו ויאמר ליהודה ולירושלם לפני המזבח הזה תשתחוו בירושלם ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 23

Now therefore, I pray thee, give pledges to my lord the king of Assyria, and I will deliver thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders upon them.

- Maintenant, fais une convention avec mon maître, le roi d'Assyrie, et je te donnerai deux mille chevaux, si tu peux fournir des cavaliers pour les monter. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ νυ̃ν μίχθητε δὴ τω̨̃ κυρίω̨ μου βασιλει̃ 'Ασσυρίων καὶ δώσω σοι δισχιλίους ἵππους εἰ δυνήση̨ δου̃ναι σεαυτω̨̃ ἐπιβάτας ἐπ' αὐτούς (Ⅲ)

- Nunc igitur transite ad dominum meum regem Assyriorum, et dabo vobis duo millia equorum, et videte an habere valeatis ascensores eorum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 23 ׃18 ועתה התערב נא את אדני את מלך אשור ואתנה לך אלפים סוסים אם תוכל לתת לך רכבים עליהם ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 24

How then wilt thou turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master's servants, and put thy trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?

- Comment repousserais-tu un seul chef d'entre les moindres serviteurs de mon maître? Tu mets ta confiance dans l'Égypte pour les chars et pour les cavaliers. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ πω̃ς ἀποστρέψεις τὸ πρόσωπον τοπάρχου ἑνὸς τω̃ν δούλων του̃ κυρίου μου τω̃ν ἐλαχίστων καὶ ἤλπισας σαυτω̨̃ ἐπ' Αἴγυπτον εἰς ἅρματα καὶ ἱππει̃ς (Ⅲ)

- Et quomodo potestis resistere ante unum satrapam de servis domini mei minimis ? an fiduciam habes in Ægypto propter currus et equites ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 24 ׃18 ואיך תשיב את פני פחת אחד עבדי אדני הקטנים ותבטח לך על מצרים לרכב ולפרשים ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 25

Am I now come up without the LORD against this place to destroy it? The LORD said to me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.

- D'ailleurs, est-ce sans la volonté de l'Éternel que je suis monté contre ce lieu, pour le détruire? L'Éternel m'a dit: Monte contre ce pays, et détruis-le. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ νυ̃ν μὴ ἄνευ κυρίου ἀνέβημεν ἐπὶ τὸν τόπον του̃τον του̃ διαφθει̃ραι αὐτόν κύριος εἰ̃πεν πρός με ἀνάβηθι ἐπὶ τὴν γη̃ν ταύτην καὶ διάφθειρον αὐτήν (Ⅲ)

- Numquid sine Domini voluntate ascendi ad locum istum, ut demolirer eum ? Dominus dixit mihi : Ascende ad terram hanc, et demolire eam. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 25 ׃18 עתה המבלעדי יהוה עליתי על המקום הזה להשחתו יהוה אמר אלי עלה על הארץ הזאת והשחיתה ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 26

Then said Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, and Shebna, and Joah, unto Rabshakeh, Speak, I pray thee, to thy servants in the Syrian language; for we understand it: and talk not with us in the Jews' language in the ears of the people that are on the wall.

- Éliakim, fils de Hilkija, Schebna et Joach, dirent à Rabschaké: Parle à tes serviteurs en araméen, car nous le comprenons; et ne nous parle pas en langue judaïque, aux oreilles du peuple qui est sur la muraille. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ελιακιμ υἱὸς Χελκιου καὶ Σομνας καὶ Ιωας πρὸς Ραψακην λάλησον δὴ πρὸς τοὺς παι̃δάς σου Συριστί ὅτι ἀκούομεν ἡμει̃ς καὶ οὐ λαλήσεις μεθ' ἡμω̃ν Ιουδαϊστί καὶ ἵνα τί λαλει̃ς ἐν τοι̃ς ὠσὶν του̃ λαου̃ του̃ ἐπὶ του̃ τείχους (Ⅲ)

- Dixerunt autem Eliacim filius Helciæ, et Sobna, et Joahe Rabsaci : Precamur ut loquaris nobis servis tuis syriace : siquidem intelligimus hanc linguam : et non loquaris nobis judaice, audiente populo qui est super murum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 26 ׃18 ויאמר אליקים בן חלקיהו ושבנה ויואח אל רב שקה דבר נא אל עבדיך ארמית כי שמעים אנחנו ואל תדבר עמנו יהודית באזני העם אשר על החמה ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 27

But Rabshakeh said unto them, Hath my master sent me to thy master, and to thee, to speak these words? hath he not sent me to the men which sit on the wall, that they may eat their own dung, and drink their own piss with you?

- Rabschaké leur répondit: Est-ce à ton maître et à toi que mon maître m'a envoyé dire ces paroles? N'est-ce pas à ces hommes assis sur la muraille pour manger leurs excréments et pour boire leur urine avec vous? (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν πρὸς αὐτοὺς Ραψακης μὴ ἐπὶ τὸν κύριόν σου καὶ πρὸς σὲ ἀπέστειλέν με ὁ κύριός μου λαλη̃σαι τοὺς λόγους τούτους οὐχὶ ἐπὶ τοὺς ἄνδρας τοὺς καθημένους ἐπὶ του̃ τείχους του̃ φαγει̃ν τὴν κόπρον αὐτω̃ν καὶ πιει̃ν τὸ οὐ̃ρον αὐτω̃ν μεθ' ὑμω̃ν ἅμα (Ⅲ)

- Responditque eis Rabsaces, dicens : Numquid ad dominum tuum, et ad te misit me dominus meus, ut loquerer sermones hos, et non potius ad viros qui sedent super murum, ut comedant stercora sua, et bibant urinam suam vobiscum ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 27 ׃18 ויאמר אליהם רב שקה העל אדניך ואליך שלחני אדני לדבר את הדברים האלה הלא על האנשים הישבים על החמה לאכל את‪[1]‬ *חריהם **צואתם ולשתות את *שיניהם **מימי‪[c]‬‪[n]‬‪[v]‬ **רגליהם עמכם ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 28

Then Rabshakeh stood and cried with a loud voice in the Jews' language, and spake, saying, Hear the word of the great king, the king of Assyria:

- Alors Rabschaké, s'étant avancé, cria à haute voix en langue judaïque, et dit: Écoutez la parole du grand roi, du roi d'Assyrie! (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἔστη Ραψακης καὶ ἐβόησεν φωνη̨̃ μεγάλη̨ Ιουδαϊστὶ καὶ ἐλάλησεν καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἀκούσατε τοὺς λόγους του̃ μεγάλου βασιλέως 'Ασσυρίων (Ⅲ)

- Stetit itaque Rabsaces, et exclamavit voce magna judaice, et ait : Audite verba regis magni, regis Assyriorum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 28 ׃18 ויעמד רב שקה ויקרא בקול גדול יהודית וידבר ויאמר שמעו דבר המלך הגדול מלך אשור ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 29

Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you: for he shall not be able to deliver you out of his hand:

- Ainsi parle le roi: Qu'Ézéchias ne vous abuse point, car il ne pourra vous délivrer de ma main. (Ⅱ)

- τάδε λέγει ὁ βασιλεύς μὴ ἐπαιρέτω ὑμα̃ς Εζεκιας λόγοις ὅτι οὐ μὴ δύνηται ὑμα̃ς ἐξελέσθαι ἐκ χειρός μου (Ⅲ)

- Hæc dicit rex : Non vos seducat Ezechias : non enim poterit eruere vos de manu mea : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 29 ׃18 כה אמר המלך אל ישיא לכם חזקיהו כי לא יוכל להציל אתכם מידו ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 30

Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, The LORD will surely deliver us, and this city shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.

- Qu'Ézéchias ne vous amène point à vous confier en l'Éternel, en disant: L'Éternel nous délivrera, et cette ville ne sera pas livrée entre les mains du roi d'Assyrie. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ μὴ ἐπελπιζέτω ὑμα̃ς Εζεκιας πρὸς κύριον λέγων ἐξαιρούμενος ἐξελει̃ται ἡμα̃ς κύριος οὐ μὴ παραδοθη̨̃ ἡ πόλις αὕτη ἐν χειρὶ βασιλέως 'Ασσυρίων (Ⅲ)

- neque fiduciam vobis tribuat super Dominum, dicens : Eruens liberabit nos Dominus, et non tradetur civitas hæc in manu regis Assyriorum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 30 ׃18 ואל יבטח אתכם חזקיהו אל יהוה לאמר הצל יצילנו יהוה ולא תנתן את העיר הזאת ביד מלך אשור ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 31

Hearken not to Hezekiah: for thus saith the king of Assyria, Make an agreement with me by a present, and come out to me, and then eat ye every man of his own vine, and every one of his fig tree, and drink ye every one the waters of his cistern:

- N'écoutez point Ézéchias; car ainsi parle le roi d'Assyrie: Faites la paix avec moi, rendez-vous à moi, et chacun de vous mangera de sa vigne et de son figuier, et chacun boira de l'eau de sa citerne, (Ⅱ)

- μὴ ἀκούετε Εζεκιου ὅτι τάδε λέγει ὁ βασιλεὺς 'Ασσυρίων ποιήσατε μετ' ἐμου̃ εὐλογίαν καὶ ἐξέλθατε πρός με καὶ πίεται ἀνὴρ τὴν ἄμπελον αὐτου̃ καὶ ἀνὴρ τὴν συκη̃ν αὐτου̃ φάγεται καὶ πίεται ὕδωρ του̃ λάκκου αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Nolite audire Ezechiam. Hæc enim dicit rex Assyriorum : Facite mecum quod vobis est utile, et egredimini ad me : et comedet unusquisque de vinea sua, et de ficu sua : et bibetis aquas de cisternis vestris, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 31 ׃18 אל תשמעו אל חזקיהו כי כה אמר מלך אשור עשו אתי ברכה וצאו אלי ואכלו איש גפנו ואיש תאנתו ושתו איש מי בורו ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 32

Until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of corn and wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of oil olive and of honey, that ye may live, and not die: and hearken not unto Hezekiah, when he persuadeth you, saying, The LORD will deliver us.

- jusqu'à ce que je vienne, et que je vous emmène dans un pays comme le vôtre, dans un pays de blé et de vin, un pays de pain et de vignes, un pays d'oliviers à huile et de miel, et vous vivrez et vous ne mourrez point. N'écoutez donc point Ézéchias; car il pourrait vous séduire en disant: L'Éternel nous délivrera. (Ⅱ)

- ἕως ἔλθω καὶ λάβω ὑμα̃ς εἰς γη̃ν ὡς γη̃ ὑμω̃ν γη̃ σίτου καὶ οἴνου καὶ ἄρτου καὶ ἀμπελώνων γη̃ ἐλαίας ἐλαίου καὶ μέλιτος καὶ ζήσετε καὶ οὐ μὴ ἀποθάνητε καὶ μὴ ἀκούετε Εζεκιου ὅτι ἀπατα̨̃ ὑμα̃ς λέγων κύριος ῥύσεται ἡμα̃ς (Ⅲ)

- donec veniam, et transferam vos in terram quæ similis est terræ vestræ, in terram fructiferam, et fertilem vini, terram panis et vinearum, terram olivarum et olei ac mellis : et vivetis, et non moriemini. Nolite audire Ezechiam, qui vos decipit, dicens : Dominus liberabit nos. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 32 ׃18 עד באי ולקחתי אתכם אל ארץ כארצכם ארץ דגן ותירוש ארץ לחם וכרמים ארץ זית יצהר ודבש וחיו ולא תמתו ואל תשמעו אל חזקיהו כי יסית אתכם לאמר יהוה יצילנו ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 33

Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered at all his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?

- Les dieux des nations ont-ils délivré chacun son pays de la main du roi d'Assyrie? (Ⅱ)

- μὴ ῥυόμενοι ἐρρύσαντο οἱ θεοὶ τω̃ν ἐθνω̃ν ἕκαστος τὴν ἑαυτου̃ χώραν ἐκ χειρὸς βασιλέως 'Ασσυρίων (Ⅲ)

- Numquid liberaverunt dii gentium terram suam de manu regis Assyriorum ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 33 ׃18 ההצל הצילו אלהי הגוים איש את ארצו מיד מלך אשור ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 34

Where are the gods of Hamath, and of Arpad? where are the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivah? have they delivered Samaria out of mine hand?

- Où sont les dieux de Hamath et d'Arpad? Où sont les dieux de Sepharvaïm, d'Héna et d'Ivva? Ont-ils délivré Samarie de ma main? (Ⅱ)

- που̃ ἐστιν ὁ θεὸς Αιμαθ καὶ Αρφαδ που̃ ἐστιν ὁ θεὸς Σεπφαρουαιν καὶ ὅτι ἐξείλαντο Σαμάρειαν ἐκ χειρός μου (Ⅲ)

- ubi est deus Emath, et Arphad ? ubi est deus Sepharvaim, Ana, et Ava ? numquid liberaverunt Samariam de manu mea ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 34 ׃18 איה אלהי חמת וארפד איה אלהי ספרוים הנע ועוה כי הצילו את שמרון מידי ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 35

Who are they among all the gods of the countries, that have delivered their country out of mine hand, that the LORD should deliver Jerusalem out of mine hand?

- Parmi tous les dieux de ces pays, quels sont ceux qui ont délivré leur pays de ma main, pour que l'Éternel délivre Jérusalem de ma main? (Ⅱ)

- τίς ἐν πα̃σιν τοι̃ς θεοι̃ς τω̃ν γαιω̃ν οἳ ἐξείλαντο τὰς γα̃ς αὐτω̃ν ἐκ χειρός μου ὅτι ἐξελει̃ται κύριος τὴν Ιερουσαλημ ἐκ χειρός μου (Ⅲ)

- Quinam illi sunt in universis diis terrarum, qui eruerunt regionem suam de manu mea, ut possit eruere Dominus Jerusalem de manu mea ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 35 ׃18 מי בכל אלהי הארצות אשר הצילו את ארצם מידי כי יציל יהוה את ירושלם מידי ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 36

But the people held their peace, and answered him not a word: for the king's commandment was, saying, Answer him not.

- Le peuple se tut, et ne lui répondit pas un mot; car le roi avait donné cet ordre: Vous ne lui répondrez pas. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐκώφευσαν καὶ οὐκ ἀπεκρίθησαν αὐτω̨̃ λόγον ὅτι ἐντολὴ του̃ βασιλέως λέγων οὐκ ἀποκριθήσεσθε αὐτω̨̃ (Ⅲ)

- Tacuit itaque populus, et non respondit ei quidquam : siquidem præceptum regis acceperant ut non responderent ei. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 36 ׃18 והחרישו העם ולא ענו אתו דבר כי מצות המלך היא לאמר לא תענהו ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 37

Then came Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder, to Hezekiah with their clothes rent, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.

- Et Éliakim, fils de Hilkija, chef de la maison du roi, Schebna, le secrétaire, et Joach, fils d'Asaph, l'archiviste, vinrent auprès d'Ézéchias, les vêtements déchirés, et lui rapportèrent les paroles de Rabschaké. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰση̃λθεν Ελιακιμ υἱὸς Χελκιου ὁ οἰκονόμος καὶ Σομνας ὁ γραμματεὺς καὶ Ιωας υἱὸς Ασαφ ὁ ἀναμιμνή̨σκων πρὸς Εζεκιαν διερρηχότες τὰ ἱμάτια καὶ ἀνήγγειλαν αὐτω̨̃ τοὺς λόγους Ραψακου (Ⅲ)

- Venitque Eliacim filius Helciæ, præpositus domus, et Sobna scriba, et Joahe filius Asaph a commentariis ad Ezechiam scissis vestibus, et nuntiaverunt ei verba Rabsacis. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 37 ׃18 ויבא אליקים בן חלקיה אשר על הבית ושבנא הספר ויואח בן אסף המזכיר אל חזקיהו קרועי בגדים ויגדו לו דברי רב שקה ‬ (Ⅴ)
