21. 1

And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel.

- Satan se leva contre Israël, et il excita David à faire le dénombrement d'Israël. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἔστη διάβολος ἐν τω̨̃ Ισραηλ καὶ ἐπέσεισεν τὸν Δαυιδ του̃ ἀριθμη̃σαι τὸν Ισραηλ (Ⅲ)

- Consurrexit autem Satan contra Israël, et concitavit David ut numeraret Israël. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 1 ׃21 ויעמד שטן על ישראל ויסת את דויד למנות את ישראל ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 2

And David said to Joab and to the rulers of the people, Go, number Israel from Beersheba even to Dan; and bring the number of them to me, that I may know it.

- Et David dit à Joab et aux chefs du peuple: Allez, faites le dénombrement d'Israël, depuis Beer Schéba jusqu'à Dan, et rapportez-le-moi, afin que je sache à combien il s'élève. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Δαυιδ πρὸς Ιωαβ καὶ πρὸς τοὺς ἄρχοντας τη̃ς δυνάμεως πορεύθητε ἀριθμήσατε τὸν Ισραηλ ἀπὸ Βηρσαβεε καὶ ἕως Δαν καὶ ἐνέγκατε πρός με καὶ γνώσομαι τὸν ἀριθμὸν αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Dixitque David ad Joab et ad principes populi : Ite, et numerate Israël a Bersabee usque Dan : et afferte mihi numerum ut sciam. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 2 ׃21 ויאמר דויד אל יואב ואל שרי העם לכו ספרו את ישראל מבאר שבע ועד דן והביאו אלי ואדעה את מספרם ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 3

And Joab answered, The LORD make his people an hundred times so many more as they be: but, my lord the king, are they not all my lord's servants? why then doth my lord require this thing? why will he be a cause of trespass to Israel?

- Joab répondit: Que l'Éternel rende son peuple cent fois plus nombreux! O roi mon seigneur, ne sont-ils pas tous serviteurs de mon seigneur? Mais pourquoi mon seigneur demande-t-il cela? Pourquoi faire ainsi pécher Israël? (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ιωαβ προσθείη κύριος ἐπὶ τὸν λαὸν αὐτου̃ ὡς αὐτοὶ ἑκατονταπλασίως καὶ οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ κυρίου μου του̃ βασιλέως βλέποντες πάντες τω̨̃ κυρίω̨ μου παι̃δες ἵνα τί ζητει̃ ὁ κύριός μου του̃το ἵνα μὴ γένηται εἰς ἁμαρτίαν τω̨̃ Ισραηλ (Ⅲ)

- Responditque Joab : Augeat Dominus populum suum centuplum quam sunt : nonne, domine mi rex, omnes servi tui sunt ? quare hoc quærit dominus meus, quod in peccatum reputetur Israëli ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 3 ׃21 ויאמר יואב יוסף יהוה על עמו כהם מאה פעמים הלא אדני המלך כלם לאדני לעבדים למה יבקש זאת אדני למה יהיה לאשמה לישראל ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 4

Nevertheless the king's word prevailed against Joab. Wherefore Joab departed, and went throughout all Israel, and came to Jerusalem.

- Le roi persista dans l'ordre qu'il donnait à Joab. Et Joab partit, et parcourut tout Israël; puis il revint à Jérusalem. (Ⅱ)

- τὸ δὲ ῥη̃μα του̃ βασιλέως ἐκραταιώθη ἐπὶ τω̨̃ Ιωαβ καὶ ἐξη̃λθεν Ιωαβ καὶ διη̃λθεν ἐν παντὶ ὁρίω̨ Ισραηλ καὶ ἠ̃λθεν εἰς Ιερουσαλημ (Ⅲ)

- Sed sermo regis magis prævaluit : egressusque est Joab, et circuivit universum Israël : et reversus est Jerusalem, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 4 ׃21 ודבר המלך חזק על יואב ויצא יואב ויתהלך בכל ישראל ויבא ירושלם ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 5

And Joab gave the sum of the number of the people unto David. And all they of Israel were a thousand thousand and an hundred thousand men that drew sword: and Judah was four hundred threescore and ten thousand men that drew sword.

- Joab remit à David le rôle du dénombrement du peuple: il y avait dans tout Israël onze cent mille hommes tirant l'épée, et en Juda quatre cent soixante-dix mille hommes tirant l'épée. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἔδωκεν Ιωαβ τὸν ἀριθμὸν τη̃ς ἐπισκέψεως του̃ λαου̃ τω̨̃ Δαυιδ καὶ ἠ̃ν πα̃ς Ισραηλ χίλιαι χιλιάδες καὶ ἑκατὸν χιλιάδες ἀνδρω̃ν ἐσπασμένων μάχαιραν καὶ Ιουδας τετρακόσιαι καὶ ὀγδοήκοντα χιλιάδες ἀνδρω̃ν ἐσπασμένων μάχαιραν (Ⅲ)

- deditque David numerum eorum quos circuierat : et inventus est omnis numerus Israël, mille millia et centum millia virorum educentium gladium : de Juda autem quadringenta septuaginta millia bellatorum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 5 ׃21 ויתן יואב את מספר מפקד העם אל דויד ויהי כל ישראל אלף אלפים ומאה אלף איש שלף חרב ויהודה ארבע מאות ושבעים אלף איש שלף חרב ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 6

But Levi and Benjamin counted he not among them: for the king's word was abominable to Joab.

- Il ne fit point parmi eux le dénombrement de Lévi et de Benjamin, car l'ordre du roi lui paraissait une abomination. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ τὸν Λευι καὶ τὸν Βενιαμιν οὐκ ἠρίθμησεν ἐν μέσω̨ αὐτω̃ν ὅτι κατίσχυσεν λόγος του̃ βασιλέως τὸν Ιωαβ (Ⅲ)

- Nam Levi et Benjamin non numeravit : eo quod Joab invitus exsequeretur regis imperium. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 6 ׃21 ולוי ובנימן לא פקד בתוכם כי נתעב דבר המלך את יואב ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 7

And God was displeased with this thing; therefore he smote Israel.

- Cet ordre déplut à Dieu, qui frappa Israël. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ πονηρὸν ἐφάνη ἐναντίον του̃ θεου̃ περὶ του̃ πράγματος τούτου καὶ ἐπάταξεν τὸν Ισραηλ (Ⅲ)

- Displicuit autem Deo quod jussum erat : et percussit Israël. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 7 ׃21 וירע בעיני האלהים על הדבר הזה ויך את ישראל פ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 8

And David said unto God, I have sinned greatly, because I have done this thing: but now, I beseech thee, do away the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.

- Et David dit à Dieu: J'ai commis un grand péché en faisant cela! Maintenant, daigne pardonner l'iniquité de ton serviteur, car j'ai complètement agi en insensé! (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Δαυιδ πρὸς τὸν θεόν ἡμάρτηκα σφόδρα ὅτι ἐποίησα τὸ πρα̃γμα του̃το καὶ νυ̃ν περίελε δὴ τὴν κακίαν παιδός σου ὅτι ἐματαιώθην σφόδρα (Ⅲ)

- Dixitque David ad Deum : Peccavi nimis ut hoc facerem : obsecro, aufer iniquitatem servi tui, quia insipienter egi. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 8 ׃21 ויאמר דויד אל האלהים חטאתי מאד אשר עשיתי את הדבר הזה ועתה העבר נא את עוון עבדך כי נסכלתי מאד פ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 9

And the LORD spake unto Gad, David's seer, saying,

- L'Éternel adressa ainsi la parole à Gad, le voyant de David: (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐλάλησεν κύριος πρὸς Γαδ ὁρω̃ντα Δαυιδ λέγων (Ⅲ)

- Et locutus est Dominus ad Gad videntem Davidis, dicens : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 9 ׃21 וידבר יהוה אל גד חזה דויד לאמר ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 10

Go and tell David, saying, Thus saith the LORD, I offer thee three things: choose thee one of them, that I may do it unto thee.

- Va dire à David: Ainsi parle l'Éternel: Je te propose trois fléaux; choisis-en un, et je t'en frapperai. (Ⅱ)

- πορεύου καὶ λάλησον πρὸς Δαυιδ λέγων οὕτως λέγει κύριος τρία αἴρω ἐγὼ ἐπὶ σέ ἔκλεξαι σεαυτω̨̃ ἓν ἐξ αὐτω̃ν καὶ ποιήσω σοι (Ⅲ)

- Vade, et loquere ad David, et dic ei : Hæc dicit Dominus : Trium tibi optionem do : unum, quod volueris, elige, et faciam tibi. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 10 ׃21 לך ודברת אל דויד לאמר כה אמר יהוה שלוש אני נטה עליך בחר לך אחת מהנה ואעשה לך ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 11

So Gad came to David, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Choose thee

- Gad alla vers David, et lui dit: Ainsi parle l'Éternel: (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἠ̃λθεν Γαδ πρὸς Δαυιδ καὶ εἰ̃πεν αὐτω̨̃ οὕτως λέγει κύριος ἔκλεξαι σεαυτω̨̃ (Ⅲ)

- Cumque venisset Gad ad David, dixit ei : Hæc dicit Dominus : Elige, quod volueris : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 11 ׃21 ויבא גד אל דויד ויאמר לו כה אמר יהוה קבל לך ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 12

Either three years' famine; or three months to be destroyed before thy foes, while that the sword of thine enemies overtaketh thee; or else three days the sword of the LORD, even the pestilence, in the land, and the angel of the LORD destroying throughout all the coasts of Israel. Now therefore advise thyself what word I shall bring again to him that sent me.

- Accepte, ou trois années de famine, ou trois mois pendant lesquels tu seras détruit par tes adversaires et atteint par l'épée de tes ennemis, ou trois jours pendant lesquels l'épée de l'Éternel et la peste seront dans le pays et l'ange de l'Éternel portera la destruction dans tout le territoire d'Israël. Vois maintenant ce que je dois répondre à celui qui m'envoie. (Ⅱ)

- ἢ τρία ἔτη λιμου̃ ἢ τρει̃ς μη̃νας φεύγειν σε ἐκ προσώπου ἐχθρω̃ν σου καὶ μάχαιραν ἐχθρω̃ν σου του̃ ἐξολεθρευ̃σαι ἢ τρει̃ς ἡμέρας ῥομφαίαν κυρίου καὶ θάνατον ἐν τη̨̃ γη̨̃ καὶ ἄγγελος κυρίου ἐξολεθρεύων ἐν πάση̨ κληρονομία̨ Ισραηλ καὶ νυ̃ν ἰδὲ τί ἀποκριθω̃ τω̨̃ ἀποστείλαντί με λόγον (Ⅲ)

- aut tribus annis famem ; aut tribus mensibus te fugere hostes tuos, et gladium eorum non posse evadere ; aut tribus diebus gladium Domini, et pestilentiam versari in terra, et angelum Domini interficere in universis finibus Israël : nunc igitur vide quid respondeam ei qui misit me. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 12 ׃21 אם שלוש שנים רעב ואם שלשה חדשים נספה מפני צריך וחרב אויבך למשגת ואם שלשת ימים חרב יהוה ודבר בארץ ומלאך יהוה משחית בכל גבול ישראל ועתה ראה מה אשיב את שלחי דבר פ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 13

And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let me fall now into the hand of the LORD; for very great are his mercies: but let me not fall into the hand of man.

- David répondit à Gad: Je suis dans une grande angoisse! Oh! que je tombe entre les mains de l'Éternel, car ses compassions sont immenses; mais que je ne tombe pas entre les mains des hommes! (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Δαυιδ πρὸς Γαδ στενά μοι καὶ τὰ τρία σφόδρα ἐμπεσου̃μαι δὴ εἰς χει̃ρας κυρίου ὅτι πολλοὶ οἱ οἰκτιρμοὶ αὐτου̃ σφόδρα καὶ εἰς χει̃ρας ἀνθρώπων οὐ μὴ ἐμπέσω (Ⅲ)

- Et dixit David ad Gad : Ex omni parte me angustiæ premunt : sed melius mihi est ut incidam in manus Domini, quia multæ sunt miserationes ejus, quam in manus hominum.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 13 ׃21 ויאמר דויד אל גד צר לי מאד אפלה נא ביד יהוה כי רבים רחמיו מאד וביד אדם אל אפל ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 14

So the LORD sent pestilence upon Israel: and there fell of Israel seventy thousand men.

- L'Éternel envoya la peste en Israël, et il tomba soixante-dix mille hommes d'Israël. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἔδωκεν κύριος θάνατον ἐν Ισραηλ καὶ ἔπεσον ἐξ Ισραηλ ἑβδομήκοντα χιλιάδες ἀνδρω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Misit ergo Dominus pestilentiam in Israël : et ceciderunt de Israël septuaginta millia virorum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 14 ׃21 ויתן יהוה דבר בישראל ויפל מישראל שבעים אלף איש ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 15

And God sent an angel unto Jerusalem to destroy it: and as he was destroying, the LORD beheld, and he repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed, It is enough, stay now thine hand. And the angel of the LORD stood by the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.

- Dieu envoya un ange à Jérusalem pour la détruire; et comme il la détruisait, l'Éternel regarda et se repentit de ce mal, et il dit à l'ange qui détruisait: Assez! Retire maintenant ta main. L'ange de l'Éternel se tenait près de l'aire d'Ornan, le Jébusien. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀπέστειλεν ὁ θεὸς ἄγγελον εἰς Ιερουσαλημ του̃ ἐξολεθρευ̃σαι αὐτήν καὶ ὡς ἐξωλέθρευσεν εἰ̃δεν κύριος καὶ μετεμελήθη ἐπὶ τη̨̃ κακία̨ καὶ εἰ̃πεν τω̨̃ ἀγγέλω̨ τω̨̃ ἐξολεθρεύοντι ἱκανούσθω σοι ἄνες τὴν χει̃ρά σου καὶ ὁ ἄγγελος κυρίου ἑστὼς ἐν τω̨̃ ἅλω̨ Ορνα του̃ Ιεβουσαίου (Ⅲ)

- Misit quoque angelum in Jerusalem ut percuteret eam : cumque percuteretur, vidit Dominus, et misertus est super magnitudine mali : et imperavit angelo qui percutiebat : Sufficit, jam cesset manus tua. Porro angelus Domini stabat juxta aream Ornan Jebusæi. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 15 ׃21 וישלח האלהים מלאך לירושלם להשחיתה וכהשחית ראה יהוה וינחם על הרעה ויאמר למלאך המשחית רב עתה הרף ידך ומלאך יהוה עמד עם גרן ארנן היבוסי ס‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 16

And David lifted up his eyes, and saw the angel of the LORD stand between the earth and the heaven, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders of Israel, who were clothed in sackcloth, fell upon their faces.

- David leva les yeux, et vit l'ange de l'Éternel se tenant entre la terre et le ciel et ayant à la main son épée nue tournée contre Jérusalem. Alors David et les anciens, couverts de sacs, tombèrent sur leur visage. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐπη̃ρεν Δαυιδ τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτου̃ καὶ εἰ̃δεν τὸν ἄγγελον κυρίου ἑστω̃τα ἀνὰ μέσον τη̃ς γη̃ς καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον του̃ οὐρανου̃ καὶ ἡ ῥομφαία αὐτου̃ ἐσπασμένη ἐν τη̨̃ χειρὶ αὐτου̃ ἐκτεταμένη ἐπὶ Ιερουσαλημ καὶ ἔπεσεν Δαυιδ καὶ οἱ πρεσβύτεροι περιβεβλημένοι ἐν σάκκοις ἐπὶ πρόσωπον αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Levansque David oculos suos, vidit angelum Domini stantem inter cælum et terram, et evaginatum gladium in manu ejus, et versum contra Jerusalem : et ceciderunt tam ipse quam majores natu, vestiti ciliciis, proni in terram. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 16 ׃21 וישא דויד את עיניו וירא את מלאך יהוה עמד בין הארץ ובין השמים וחרבו שלופה בידו נטויה על ירושלם ויפל דויד והזקנים מכסים בשקים על פניהם ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 17

And David said unto God, Is it not I that commanded the people to be numbered? even I it is that have sinned and done evil indeed; but as for these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, O LORD my God, be on me, and on my father's house; but not on thy people, that they should be plagued.

- Et David dit à Dieu: N'est-ce pas moi qui ai ordonné le dénombrement du peuple? C'est moi qui ai péché et qui ai fait le mal; mais ces brebis, qu'ont-elles fait? Éternel, mon Dieu, que ta main soit donc sur moi et sur la maison de mon père, et qu'elle ne fasse point une plaie parmi ton peuple! (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Δαυιδ πρὸς τὸν θεόν οὐκ ἐγὼ εἰ̃πα του̃ ἀριθμη̃σαι ἐν τω̨̃ λαω̨̃ καὶ ἐγώ εἰμι ὁ ἁμαρτών κακοποιω̃ν ἐκακοποίησα καὶ ταυ̃τα τὰ πρόβατα τί ἐποίησαν κύριε ὁ θεός γενηθήτω ἡ χείρ σου ἐν ἐμοὶ καὶ ἐν τω̨̃ οἴκω̨ του̃ πατρός μου καὶ μὴ ἐν τω̨̃ λαω̨̃ σου εἰς ἀπώλειαν κύριε (Ⅲ)

- Dixitque David ad Deum : Nonne ego sum, qui jussi ut numeraretur populus ? ego, qui peccavi ? ego, qui malum feci ? iste grex, quid commeruit ? Domine Deus meus, vertatur, obsecro, manus tua in me, et in domum patris mei : populus autem tuus non percutiatur. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 17 ׃21 ויאמר דויד אל האלהים הלא אני אמרתי למנות בעם ואני הוא אשר חטאתי והרע הרעותי ואלה הצאן מה עשו יהוה אלהי תהי נא ידך בי ובבית אבי ובעמך לא למגפה ס‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 18

Then the angel of the LORD commanded Gad to say to David, that David should go up, and set up an altar unto the LORD in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.

- L'ange de l'Éternel dit à Gad de parler à David, afin qu'il montât pour élever un autel à l'Éternel dans l'aire d'Ornan, le Jébusien. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἄγγελος κυρίου εἰ̃πεν τω̨̃ Γαδ του̃ εἰπει̃ν πρὸς Δαυιδ ἵνα ἀναβη̨̃ του̃ στη̃σαι θυσιαστήριον τω̨̃ κυρίω̨ ἐν ἅλω̨ Ορνα του̃ Ιεβουσαίου (Ⅲ)

- Angelus autem Domini præcepit Gad ut diceret Davidi ut ascenderet, exstrueretque altare Domino Deo in area Ornan Jebusæi. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 18 ׃21 ומלאך יהוה אמר אל גד לאמר לדויד כי יעלה דויד להקים מזבח ליהוה בגרן ארנן היבסי ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 19

And David went up at the saying of Gad, which he spake in the name of the LORD.

- David monta, selon la parole que Gad avait prononcée au nom de l'Éternel. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀνέβη Δαυιδ κατὰ τὸν λόγον Γαδ ὃν ἐλάλησεν ἐν ὀνόματι κυρίου (Ⅲ)

- Ascendit ergo David juxta sermonem Gad, quem locutus ei fuerat ex nomine Domini. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 19 ׃21 ויעל דויד בדבר גד אשר דבר בשם יהוה ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 20

And Ornan turned back, and saw the angel; and his four sons with him hid themselves. Now Ornan was threshing wheat.

- Ornan se retourna et vit l'ange, et ses quatre fils se cachèrent avec lui: il foulait alors du froment. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐπέστρεψεν Ορνα καὶ εἰ̃δεν τὸν βασιλέα καὶ τέσσαρες υἱοὶ αὐτου̃ μετ' αὐτου̃ μεθαχαβιν καὶ Ορνα ἠ̃ν ἀλοω̃ν πυρούς (Ⅲ)

- Porro Ornan cum suspexisset et vidisset angelum, quatuorque filii ejus cum eo, absconderunt se : nam eo tempore terebat in area triticum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 20 ׃21 וישב ארנן וירא את המלאך וארבעת בניו עמו מתחבאים וארנן דש חטים ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 21

And as David came to Ornan, Ornan looked and saw David, and went out of the threshingfloor, and bowed himself to David with his face to the ground.

- Lorsque David arriva auprès d'Ornan, Ornan regarda, et il aperçut David; puis il sortit de l'aire, et se prosterna devant David, le visage contre terre. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἠ̃λθεν Δαυιδ πρὸς Ορναν καὶ Ορνα ἐξη̃λθεν ἐκ τη̃ς ἅλω καὶ προσεκύνησεν τω̨̃ Δαυιδ τω̨̃ προσώπω̨ ἐπὶ τὴν γη̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Igitur cum veniret David ad Ornan, conspexit eum Ornan, et processit ei obviam de area, et adoravit eum pronus in terram. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 21 ׃21 ויבא דויד עד ארנן ויבט ארנן וירא את דויד ויצא מן הגרן וישתחו לדויד אפים ארצה ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 22

Then David said to Ornan, Grant me the place of this threshingfloor, that I may build an altar therein unto the LORD: thou shalt grant it me for the full price: that the plague may be stayed from the people.

- David dit à Ornan: Cède-moi l'emplacement de l'aire pour que j'y bâtisse un autel à l'Éternel; cède-le-moi contre sa valeur en argent, afin que la plaie se retire de dessus le peuple. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Δαυιδ πρὸς Ορνα δός μοι τὸν τόπον σου τη̃ς ἅλω καὶ οἰκοδομήσω ἐπ' αὐτω̨̃ θυσιαστήριον τω̨̃ κυρίω̨ ἐν ἀργυρίω̨ ἀξίω̨ δός μοι αὐτόν καὶ παύσεται ἡ πληγὴ ἐκ του̃ λαου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Dixitque ei David : Da mihi locum areæ tuæ, ut ædificem in ea altare Domino : ita ut quantum valet argenti accipias, et cesset plaga a populo. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 22 ׃21 ויאמר דויד אל ארנן תנה לי מקום הגרן ואבנה בו מזבח ליהוה בכסף מלא תנהו לי ותעצר המגפה מעל העם ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 23

And Ornan said unto David, Take it to thee, and let my lord the king do that which is good in his eyes: lo, I give thee the oxen also for burnt offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meat offering; I give it all.

- Ornan répondit à David: Prends-le, et que mon seigneur le roi fasse ce qui lui semblera bon; vois, je donne les boeufs pour l'holocauste, les chars pour le bois, et le froment pour l'offrande, je donne tout cela. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ορνα πρὸς Δαυιδ λαβὲ σεαυτω̨̃ καὶ ποιησάτω ὁ κύριός μου ὁ βασιλεὺς τὸ ἀγαθὸν ἐναντίον αὐτου̃ ἰδὲ δέδωκα τοὺς μόσχους εἰς ὁλοκαύτωσιν καὶ τὸ ἄροτρον καὶ τὰς ἁμάξας εἰς ξύλα καὶ τὸν σι̃τον εἰς θυσίαν τὰ πάντα δέδωκα (Ⅲ)

- Dixit autem Ornan ad David : Tolle, et faciat dominus meus rex quodcumque ei placet : sed et boves do in holocaustum, et tribulas in ligna, et triticum in sacrificium : omnia libens præbebo. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 23 ׃21 ויאמר ארנן אל דויד קח לך ויעש אדני המלך הטוב בעיניו ראה נתתי הבקר לעלות והמורגים לעצים והחטים למנחה הכל נתתי ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 24

And king David said to Ornan, Nay; but I will verily buy it for the full price: for I will not take that which is thine for the LORD, nor offer burnt offerings without cost.

- Mais le roi David dit à Ornan: Non! je veux l'acheter contre sa valeur en argent, car je ne présenterai point à l'Éternel ce qui est à toi, et je n'offrirai point un holocauste qui ne me coûte rien. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Δαυιδ τω̨̃ Ορνα οὐχί ὅτι ἀγοράζων ἀγοράζω ἐν ἀργυρίω̨ ἀξίω̨ ὅτι οὐ μὴ λάβω ἅ ἐστίν σοι κυρίω̨ του̃ ἀνενέγκαι ὁλοκαύτωσιν δωρεὰν κυρίω̨ (Ⅲ)

- Dixitque ei rex David : Nequaquam ita fiet, sed argentum dabo quantum valet : neque enim tibi auferre debeo, et sic offerre Domino holocausta gratuita. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 24 ׃21 ויאמר המלך דויד לארנן לא כי קנה אקנה בכסף מלא כי לא אשא אשר לך ליהוה והעלות עולה חנם ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 25

So David gave to Ornan for the place six hundred shekels of gold by weight.

- Et David donna à Ornan six cents sicles d'or pour l'emplacement. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἔδωκεν Δαυιδ τω̨̃ Ορνα ἐν τω̨̃ τόπω̨ αὐτου̃ σίκλους χρυσίου ὁλκη̃ς ἑξακοσίους (Ⅲ)

- Dedit ergo David Ornan pro loco siclos auri justissimi ponderis sexcentos. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 25 ׃21 ויתן דויד לארנן במקום שקלי זהב משקל שש מאות ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 26

And David built there an altar unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called upon the LORD; and he answered him from heaven by fire upon the altar of burnt offering.

- David bâtit là un autel à l'Éternel, et il offrit des holocaustes et des sacrifices d'actions de grâces. Il invoqua l'Éternel, et l'Éternel lui répondit par le feu, qui descendit du ciel sur l'autel de l'holocauste. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ὠ̨κοδόμησεν Δαυιδ ἐκει̃ θυσιαστήριον κυρίω̨ καὶ ἀνήνεγκεν ὁλοκαυτώματα καὶ σωτηρίου καὶ ἐβόησεν πρὸς κύριον καὶ ἐπήκουσεν αὐτω̨̃ ἐν πυρὶ ἐκ του̃ οὐρανου̃ ἐπὶ τὸ θυσιαστήριον τη̃ς ὁλοκαυτώσεως καὶ κατανάλωσεν τὴν ὁλοκαύτωσιν (Ⅲ)

- Et ædificavit ibi altare Domino, obtulitque holocausta et pacifica, et invocavit Dominum ; et exaudivit eum in igne de cælo super altare holocausti. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 26 ׃21 ויבן שם דויד מזבח ליהוה ויעל עלות ושלמים ויקרא אל יהוה ויענהו באש מן השמים על מזבח העלה פ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 27

And the LORD commanded the angel; and he put up his sword again into the sheath thereof.

- Alors l'Éternel parla à l'ange, qui remit son épée dans le fourreau. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν κύριος πρὸς τὸν ἄγγελον καὶ κατέθηκεν τὴν ῥομφαίαν εἰς τὸν κολεόν (Ⅲ)

- Præcepitque Dominus angelo, et convertit gladium suum in vaginam. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 27 ׃21 ויאמר יהוה למלאך וישב חרבו אל נדנה ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 28

At that time when David saw that the LORD had answered him in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite, then he sacrificed there.

- A cette époque-là, David, voyant que l'Éternel l'avait exaucé dans l'aire d'Ornan, le Jébusien, y offrait des sacrifices. (Ⅱ)

- ἐν τω̨̃ καιρω̨̃ ἐκείνω̨ ἐν τω̨̃ ἰδει̃ν τὸν Δαυιδ ὅτι ἐπήκουσεν αὐτω̨̃ κύριος ἐν τω̨̃ ἅλω̨ Ορνα του̃ Ιεβουσαίου καὶ ἐθυσίασεν ἐκει̃ (Ⅲ)

- Protinus ergo David, videns quod exaudisset eum Dominus in area Ornan Jebusæi, immolavit ibi victimas. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 28 ׃21 בעת ההיא בראות דויד כי ענהו יהוה בגרן ארנן היבוסי ויזבח שם ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 29

For the tabernacle of the LORD, which Moses made in the wilderness, and the altar of the burnt offering, were at that season in the high place at Gibeon.

- Mais le tabernacle de l'Éternel, construit par Moïse au désert, et l'autel des holocaustes, étaient alors sur le haut lieu de Gabaon. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ σκηνὴ κυρίου ἣν ἐποίησεν Μωυση̃ς ἐν τη̨̃ ἐρήμω̨ καὶ θυσιαστήριον τω̃ν ὁλοκαυτωμάτων ἐν τω̨̃ καιρω̨̃ ἐκείνω̨ ἐν Βαμα ἐν Γαβαων (Ⅲ)

- Tabernaculum autem Domini, quod fecerat Moyses in deserto, et altare holocaustorum, ea tempestate erat in excelso Gabaon. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 29 ׃21 ומשכן יהוה אשר עשה משה במדבר ומזבח העולה בעת ההיא בבמה בגבעון ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 30

But David could not go before it to enquire of God: for he was afraid because of the sword of the angel of the LORD.

- David ne pouvait pas aller devant cet autel pour chercher Dieu, parce que l'épée de l'ange de l'Éternel lui avait causé de l'épouvante. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ οὐκ ἠδύνατο Δαυιδ του̃ πορευθη̃ναι ἔμπροσθεν αὐτου̃ του̃ ζητη̃σαι τὸν θεόν ὅτι κατέσπευσεν ἀπὸ προσώπου τη̃ς ῥομφαίας ἀγγέλου κυρίου (Ⅲ)

- Et non prævaluit David ire ad altare ut ibi obsecraret Deum : nimio enim fuerat in timore perterritus, videns gladium angeli Domini. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 30 ׃21 ולא יכל דויד ללכת לפניו לדרש אלהים כי נבעת מפני חרב מלאך יהוה ס‬ (Ⅴ)
