And Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead, and strengthened himself against Israel.
- Josaphat, son fils, régna à sa place. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐβασίλευσεν Ιωσαφατ υἱὸς αὐτου̃ ἀντ' αὐτου̃ καὶ κατίσχυσεν Ιωσαφατ ἐπὶ τὸν Ισραηλ (Ⅲ) - Regnavit autem Josaphat filius ejus pro eo, et invaluit contra Israël. (Ⅳ) - 1 ׃17 וימלך יהושפט בנו תחתיו ויתחזק על ישראל (Ⅴ)

And he placed forces in all the fenced cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken.
- Il se fortifia contre Israël: il mit des troupes dans toutes les villes fortes de Juda, et des garnisons dans le pays de Juda et dans les villes d'Éphraïm dont Asa, son père, s'était emparé. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔδωκεν δύναμιν ἐν πάσαις ται̃ς πόλεσιν Ιουδα ται̃ς ὀχυραι̃ς καὶ κατέστησεν ἡγουμένους ἐν πάσαις ται̃ς πόλεσιν Ιουδα καὶ ἐν πόλεσιν Εφραιμ ἃς προκατελάβετο Ασα ὁ πατὴρ αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - Constituitque militum numeros in cunctis urbibus Juda quæ erant vallatæ muris. Præsidiaque disposuit in terra Juda, et in civitatibus Ephraim quas ceperat Asa pater ejus. (Ⅳ) - 2 ׃17 ויתן חיל בכל ערי יהודה הבצרות ויתן נציבים בארץ יהודה ובערי אפרים אשר לכד אסא אביו (Ⅴ)

And the LORD was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto Baalim;
- L'Éternel fut avec Josaphat, parce qu'il marcha dans les premières voies de David, son père, et qu'il ne rechercha point les Baals; (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐγένετο κύριος μετὰ Ιωσαφατ ὅτι ἐπορεύθη ἐν ὁδοι̃ς του̃ πατρὸς αὐτου̃ ται̃ς πρώταις καὶ οὐκ ἐξεζήτησεν τὰ εἴδωλα (Ⅲ) - Et fuit Dominus cum Josaphat, quia ambulavit in viis David patris sui primis : et non speravit in Baalim, (Ⅳ) - 3 ׃17 ויהי יהוה עם יהושפט כי הלך בדרכי דויד אביו הראשנים ולא דרש לבעלים (Ⅴ)

But sought to the Lord God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.
- car il eut recours au Dieu de son père, et il suivit ses commandements, sans imiter ce que faisait Israël. (Ⅱ) - ἀλλὰ κύριον τὸν θεὸν του̃ πατρὸς αὐτου̃ ἐξεζήτησεν καὶ ἐν ται̃ς ἐντολαι̃ς του̃ πατρὸς αὐτου̃ ἐπορεύθη καὶ οὐχ ὡς του̃ Ισραηλ τὰ ἔργα (Ⅲ) - sed in Deo patris sui : et perrexit in præceptis illius, et non juxta peccata Israël. (Ⅳ) - 4 ׃17 כי לאלהי אביו דרש ובמצותיו הלך ולא כמעשה ישראל (Ⅴ)

Therefore the LORD stablished the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah brought to Jehoshaphat presents; and he had riches and honor in abundance.
- L'Éternel affermit la royauté entre les mains de Josaphat, à qui tout Juda apportait des présents, et qui eut en abondance des richesses et de la gloire. (Ⅱ) - καὶ κατηύθυνεν κύριος τὴν βασιλείαν ἐν χειρὶ αὐτου̃ καὶ ἔδωκεν πα̃ς Ιουδα δω̃ρα τω̨̃ Ιωσαφατ καὶ ἐγένετο αὐτω̨̃ πλου̃τος καὶ δόξα πολλή (Ⅲ) - Confirmavitque Dominus regnum in manu ejus, et dedit omnis Juda munera Josaphat : factæque sunt ei infinitæ divitiæ, et multa gloria. (Ⅳ) - 5 ׃17 ויכן יהוה את הממלכה בידו ויתנו כל יהודה מנחה ליהושפט ויהי לו עשר וכבוד לרב (Ⅴ)

And his heart was lifted up in the ways of the LORD: moreover he took away the high places and groves out of Judah.
- Son coeur grandit dans les voies de l'Éternel, et il fit encore disparaître de Juda les hauts lieux et les idoles. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ὑψώθη καρδία αὐτου̃ ἐν ὁδω̨̃ κυρίου καὶ ἔτι ἐξη̃ρεν τὰ ὑψηλὰ καὶ τὰ ἄλση ἀπὸ τη̃ς γη̃ς Ιουδα (Ⅲ) - Cumque sumpsisset cor ejus audaciam propter vias Domini, etiam excelsa et lucos de Juda abstulit. (Ⅳ) - 6 ׃17 ויגבה לבו בדרכי יהוה ועוד הסיר את הבמות ואת האשרים מיהודה פ (Ⅴ)

Also in the third year of his reign he sent to his princes, even to Benhail, and to Obadiah, and to Zechariah, and to Nethaneel, and to Michaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah.
- La troisième année de son règne, il chargea ses chefs Ben Haïl, Abdias, Zacharie, Nethaneel et Michée, d'aller enseigner dans les villes de Juda. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐν τω̨̃ τρίτω̨ ἔτει τη̃ς βασιλείας αὐτου̃ ἀπέστειλεν τοὺς ἡγουμένους αὐτου̃ καὶ τοὺς υἱοὺς τω̃ν δυνατω̃ν τὸν Αβδιαν καὶ Ζαχαριαν καὶ Ναθαναηλ καὶ Μιχαιαν διδάσκειν ἐν πόλεσιν Ιουδα (Ⅲ) - Tertio autem anno regni sui misit de principibus suis Benhail, et Obdiam, et Zachariam, et Nathanaël, et Michæam, ut docerent in civitatibus Juda : (Ⅳ) - 7 ׃17 ובשנת שלוש למלכו שלח לשריו לבן חיל ולעבדיה ולזכריה ולנתנאל ולמיכיהו ללמד בערי יהודה (Ⅴ)

And with them he sent Levites, even Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijah, and Tobadonijah, Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, priests.
- Il envoya avec eux les Lévites Schemaeja, Nethania, Zebadia, Asaël, Schemiramoth, Jonathan, Adonija, Tobija et Tob Adonija, Lévites, et les sacrificateurs Élischama et Joram. (Ⅱ) - καὶ μετ' αὐτω̃ν οἱ Λευι̃ται Σαμουιας καὶ Ναθανιας καὶ Ζαβδιας καὶ Ασιηλ καὶ Σεμιραμωθ καὶ Ιωναθαν καὶ Αδωνιας καὶ Τωβιας οἱ Λευι̃ται καὶ μετ' αὐτω̃ν Ελισαμα καὶ Ιωραμ οἱ ἱερει̃ς (Ⅲ) - et cum eis Levitas Semeiam, et Nathaniam, et Zabadiam, Asaël quoque, et Semiramoth, et Jonathan, Adoniamque et Thobiam, et Thobadoniam Levitas, et cum eis Elisama, et Joran sacerdotes : (Ⅳ) - 8 ׃17 ועמהם הלוים שמעיהו ונתניהו וזבדיהו ועשהאל *ושמרימות **ושמירמות ויהונתן ואדניהו וטוביהו וטוב אדוניה הלוים ועמהם אלישמע ויהורם הכהנים (Ⅴ)

And they taught in Judah, and had the book of the law of the LORD with them, and went about throughout all the cities of Judah, and taught the people.
- Ils enseignèrent dans Juda, ayant avec eux le livre de la loi de l'Éternel. Ils parcoururent toutes les villes de Juda, et ils enseignèrent parmi le peuple. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐδίδασκον ἐν Ιουδα καὶ μετ' αὐτω̃ν βύβλος νόμου κυρίου καὶ διη̃λθον ἐν ται̃ς πόλεσιν Ιουδα καὶ ἐδίδασκον τὸν λαόν (Ⅲ) - docebantque populum in Juda, habentes librum legis Domini, et circuibant cunctas urbes Juda, atque erudiebant populum. (Ⅳ) - 9 ׃17 וילמדו ביהודה ועמהם ספר תורת יהוה ויסבו בכל ערי יהודה וילמדו בעם (Ⅴ)

And the fear of the LORD fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were round about Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.
- La terreur de l'Éternel s'empara de tous les royaumes des pays qui environnaient Juda, et ils ne firent point la guerre à Josaphat. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐγένετο ἔκστασις κυρίου ἐπὶ πάσαις ται̃ς βασιλείαις τη̃ς γη̃ς ται̃ς κύκλω̨ Ιουδα καὶ οὐκ ἐπολέμουν πρὸς Ιωσαφατ (Ⅲ) - Itaque factus est pavor Domini super omnia regna terrarum quæ erant per gyrum Juda, nec audebant bellare contra Josaphat. (Ⅳ) - 10 ׃17 ויהי פחד יהוה על כל ממלכות הארצות אשר סביבות יהודה ולא נלחמו עם יהושפט (Ⅴ)

Also some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents, and tribute silver; and the Arabians brought him flocks, seven thousand and seven hundred rams, and seven thousand and seven hundred he goats.
- Des Philistins apportèrent à Josaphat des présents et un tribut en argent; et les Arabes lui amenèrent aussi du bétail, sept mille sept cents béliers et sept mille sept cents boucs. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀπὸ τω̃ν ἀλλοφύλων ἔφερον τω̨̃ Ιωσαφατ δω̃ρα καὶ ἀργύριον καὶ δόματα καὶ οἱ 'Άραβες ἔφερον αὐτω̨̃ κριοὺς προβάτων ἑπτακισχιλίους ἑπτακοσίους (Ⅲ) - Sed et Philisthæi Josaphat munera deferebant, et vectigal argenti : Arabes quoque adducebant pecora, arietum septem millia septingenta, et hircorum totidem. (Ⅳ) - 11 ׃17 ומן פלשתים מביאים ליהושפט מנחה וכסף משא גם הערביאים מביאים לו צאן אילים שבעת אלפים ושבע מאות ותישים שבעת אלפים ושבע מאות פ (Ⅴ)

And Jehoshaphat waxed great exceedingly; and he built in Judah castles, and cities of store.
- Josaphat s'élevait au plus haut degré de grandeur. Il bâtit en Juda des châteaux et des villes pour servir de magasins. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἠ̃ν Ιωσαφατ πορευόμενος μείζων ἕως εἰς ὕψος καὶ ὠ̨κοδόμησεν οἰκήσεις ἐν τη̨̃ Ιουδαία̨ καὶ πόλεις ὀχυράς (Ⅲ) - Crevit ergo Josaphat, et magnificatus est usque in sublime : atque ædificavit in Juda domos ad instar turrium, urbesque muratas. (Ⅳ) - 12 ׃17 ויהי יהושפט הלך וגדל עד למעלה ויבן ביהודה בירניות וערי מסכנות (Ⅴ)

And he had much business in the cities of Judah: and the men of war, mighty men of valor, were in Jerusalem.
- Il fit exécuter beaucoup de travaux dans les villes de Juda, et il avait à Jérusalem de vaillants hommes pour soldats. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔργα πολλὰ ἐγένετο αὐτω̨̃ ἐν τη̨̃ Ιουδαία̨ καὶ ἄνδρες πολεμισταὶ δυνατοὶ ἰσχύοντες ἐν Ιερουσαλημ (Ⅲ) - Et multa opera paravit in urbibus Juda : viri quoque bellatores et robusti erant in Jerusalem, (Ⅳ) - 13 ׃17 ומלאכה רבה היה לו בערי יהודה ואנשי מלחמה גבורי חיל בירושלם (Ⅴ)

And these are the numbers of them according to the house of their fathers: Of Judah, the captains of thousands; Adnah the chief, and with him mighty men of valor three hundred thousand.
- Voici leur dénombrement, selon les maisons de leurs pères. De Juda, chefs de milliers: Adna, le chef, avec trois cent mille vaillants hommes; (Ⅱ) - καὶ οὑ̃τος ἀριθμὸς αὐτω̃ν κατ' οἴκους πατριω̃ν αὐτω̃ν τω̨̃ Ιουδα χιλίαρχοι Εδνας ὁ ἄρχων καὶ μετ' αὐτου̃ υἱοὶ δυνατοὶ δυνάμεως τριακόσιαι χιλιάδες (Ⅲ) - quorum iste numerus per domos atque familias singulorum : in Juda principes exercitus, Ednas dux, et cum eo robustissimi viri trecenta millia. (Ⅳ) - 14 ׃17 ואלה פקדתם לבית אבותיהם ליהודה שרי אלפים עדנה השר ועמו גבורי חיל שלש מאות אלף ס (Ⅴ)

And next to him was Jehohanan the captain, and with him two hundred and fourscore thousand.
- et à ses côtés, Jochanan, le chef, avec deux cent quatre-vingt mille hommes; (Ⅱ) - καὶ μετ' αὐτὸν Ιωαναν ὁ ἡγούμενος καὶ μετ' αὐτου̃ διακόσιαι ὀγδοήκοντα χιλιάδες (Ⅲ) - Post hunc Johanan princeps, et cum eo ducenta octoginta millia. (Ⅳ) - 15 ׃17 ועל ידו יהוחנן השר ועמו מאתים ושמונים אלף ס (Ⅴ)

And next him was Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself unto the LORD; and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valor.
- et à ses côtés, Amasia, fils de Zicri, qui s'était volontairement consacré à l'Éternel, avec deux cent mille vaillants hommes. (Ⅱ) - καὶ μετ' αὐτὸν Αμασιας ὁ του̃ Ζαχρι ὁ προθυμούμενος τω̨̃ κυρίω̨ καὶ μετ' αὐτου̃ διακόσιαι χιλιάδες δυνατοὶ δυνάμεως (Ⅲ) - Post istum quoque Amasias filius Zechri, consecratus Domino, et cum eo ducenta millia virorum fortium. (Ⅳ) - 16 ׃17 ועל ידו עמסיה בן זכרי המתנדב ליהוה ועמו מאתים אלף גבור חיל ס (Ⅴ)

And of Benjamin; Eliada a mighty man of valor, and with him armed men with bow and shield two hundred thousand.
- De Benjamin: Éliada, vaillant homme, avec deux cent mille hommes armés de l'arc et du bouclier, (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐκ του̃ Βενιαμιν δυνατὸς δυνάμεως Ελιαδα καὶ μετ' αὐτου̃ τοξόται καὶ πελτασταὶ διακόσιαι χιλιάδες (Ⅲ) - Hunc sequebatur robustus ad prælia Eliada, et cum eo tenentium arcum et clypeum ducenta millia. (Ⅳ) - 17 ׃17 ומן בנימן גבור חיל אלידע ועמו נשקי קשת ומגן מאתים אלף ס (Ⅴ)

And next him was Jehozabad, and with him an hundred and fourscore thousand ready prepared for the war.
- et à ses côtés, Zozabad, avec cent quatre-vingt mille hommes armés pour la guerre. (Ⅱ) - καὶ μετ' αὐτὸν Ιωζαβαδ καὶ μετ' αὐτου̃ ἑκατὸν ὀγδοήκοντα χιλιάδες δυνατοὶ πολέμου (Ⅲ) - Post istum etiam Jozabad, et cum eo centum octoginta millia expeditorum militum. (Ⅳ) - 18 ׃17 ועל ידו יהוזבד ועמו מאה ושמונים אלף חלוצי צבא ס (Ⅴ)

These waited on the king, beside those whom the king put in the fenced cities throughout all Judah.
- Tels sont ceux qui étaient au service du roi, outre ceux que le roi avait placés dans toutes les villes fortes de Juda. (Ⅱ) - οὑ̃τοι οἱ λειτουργου̃ντες τω̨̃ βασιλει̃ ἐκτὸς ὡ̃ν ἔδωκεν ὁ βασιλεὺς ἐν ται̃ς πόλεσιν ται̃ς ὀχυραι̃ς ἐν πάση̨ τη̨̃ Ιουδαία̨ (Ⅲ) - Hi omnes erant ad manum regis, exceptis aliis quos posuerat in urbibus muratis in universo Juda. (Ⅳ) - 19 ׃17 אלה המשרתים את המלך מלבד אשר נתן המלך בערי המבצר בכל יהודה פ (Ⅴ)
