21. 1

Now Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And Jehoram his son reigned in his stead.

- Josaphat se coucha avec ses pères, et il fut enterré avec ses pères dans la ville de David. Et Joram, son fils, régna à sa place. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐκοιμήθη Ιωσαφατ μετὰ τω̃ν πατέρων αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐτάφη παρὰ τοι̃ς πατράσιν αὐτου̃ ἐν πόλει Δαυιδ καὶ ἐβασίλευσεν Ιωραμ υἱὸς αὐτου̃ ἀντ' αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Dormivit autem Josaphat cum patribus suis, et sepultus est cum eis in civitate David : regnavitque Joram filius ejus pro eo. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 1 ׃21 וישכב יהושפט עם אבתיו ויקבר עם אבתיו בעיר דויד וימלך יהורם בנו תחתיו ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 2

And he had brethren the sons of Jehoshaphat, Azariah, and Jehiel, and Zechariah, and Azariah, and Michael, and Shephatiah: all these were the sons of Jehoshaphat king of Israel.

- Joram avait des frères, fils de Josaphat: Azaria, Jehiel, Zacharie, Azaria, Micaël et Schephathia, tous fils de Josaphat, roi d'Israël. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ αὐτω̨̃ ἀδελφοὶ υἱοὶ Ιωσαφατ ἕξ Αζαριας καὶ Ιιηλ καὶ Ζαχαριας καὶ Αζαριας καὶ Μιχαηλ καὶ Σαφατιας πάντες οὑ̃τοι υἱοὶ Ιωσαφατ βασιλέως Ιουδα (Ⅲ)

- Qui habuit fratres filios Josaphat, Azariam, et Jahiel, et Zachariam, et Azariam, et Michaël, et Saphatiam : omnes hi filii Josaphat regis Juda. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 2 ׃21 ולו אחים בני יהושפט עזריה ויחיאל וזכריהו ועזריהו ומיכאל ושפטיהו כל אלה בני יהושפט מלך ישראל ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 3

And their father gave them great gifts of silver, and of gold, and of precious things, with fenced cities in Judah: but the kingdom gave he to Jehoram; because he was the firstborn.

- Leur père leur avait donné des présents considérables en argent, en or, et en objets précieux, avec des villes fortes en Juda; mais il laissa le royaume à Joram, parce qu'il était le premier-né. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτοι̃ς ὁ πατὴρ αὐτω̃ν δόματα πολλά ἀργύριον καὶ χρυσίον καὶ ὅπλα μετὰ πόλεων τετειχισμένων ἐν Ιουδα καὶ τὴν βασιλείαν ἔδωκεν τω̨̃ Ιωραμ ὅτι οὑ̃τος ὁ πρωτότοκος (Ⅲ)

- Deditque eis pater suus multa munera argenti et auri, et pensitationes, cum civitatibus munitissimis in Juda : regnum autem tradidit Joram, eo quod esset primogenitus. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 3 ׃21 ויתן להם אביהם מתנות רבות לכסף ולזהב ולמגדנות עם ערי מצרות ביהודה ואת הממלכה נתן ליהורם כי הוא הבכור פ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 4

Now when Jehoram was risen up to the kingdom of his father, he strengthened himself, and slew all his brethren with the sword, and divers also of the princes of Israel.

- Lorsque Joram eut pris possession du royaume de son père et qu'il se fut fortifié, il fit mourir par l'épée tous ses frères et quelques-uns aussi des chefs d'Israël. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀνέστη Ιωραμ ἐπὶ τὴν βασιλείαν αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐκραταιώθη καὶ ἀπέκτεινεν πάντας τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτου̃ ἐν ῥομφαία̨ καὶ ἀπὸ τω̃ν ἀρχόντων Ισραηλ (Ⅲ)

- Surrexit ergo Joram super regnum patris sui : cumque se confirmasset, occidit omnes fratres suos gladio, et quosdam de principibus Israël. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 4 ׃21 ויקם יהורם על ממלכת אביו ויתחזק ויהרג את כל אחיו בחרב וגם משרי ישראל ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 5

Jehoram was thirty and two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.

- Joram avait trente-deux ans lorsqu'il devint roi, et il régna huit ans à Jérusalem. (Ⅱ)

- ὄντος αὐτου̃ τριάκοντα καὶ δύο ἐτω̃ν κατέστη Ιωραμ ἐπὶ τὴν βασιλείαν αὐτου̃ καὶ ὀκτὼ ἔτη ἐβασίλευσεν ἐν Ιερουσαλημ (Ⅲ)

- Triginta duorum annorum erat Joram cum regnare cœpisset, et octo annis regnavit in Jerusalem. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 5 ׃21 בן שלשים ושתים שנה יהורם במלכו ושמונה שנים מלך בירושלם ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 6

And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, like as did the house of Ahab: for he had the daughter of Ahab to wife: and he wrought that which was evil in the eyes of the LORD.

- Il marcha dans la voie des rois d'Israël, comme avait fait la maison d'Achab, car il avait pour femme une fille d'Achab, et il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Éternel. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐπορεύθη ἐν ὁδω̨̃ βασιλέων Ισραηλ ὡς ἐποίησεν οἰ̃κος Αχααβ ὅτι θυγάτηρ Αχααβ ἠ̃ν αὐτου̃ γυνή καὶ ἐποίησεν τὸ πονηρὸν ἐναντίον κυρίου (Ⅲ)

- Ambulavitque in viis regum Israël, sicut egerat domus Achab : filia quippe Achab erat uxor ejus : et fecit malum in conspectu Domini. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 6 ׃21 וילך בדרך מלכי ישראל כאשר עשו בית אחאב כי בת אחאב היתה לו אשה ויעש הרע בעיני יהוה ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 7

Howbeit the LORD would not destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and as he promised to give a light to him and to his sons for ever.

- Mais l'Éternel ne voulut point détruire la maison de David, à cause de l'alliance qu'il avait traitée avec David et de la promesse qu'il avait faite de lui donner toujours une lampe, à lui et à ses fils. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ οὐκ ἐβούλετο κύριος ἐξολεθρευ̃σαι τὸν οἰ̃κον Δαυιδ διὰ τὴν διαθήκην ἣν διέθετο τω̨̃ Δαυιδ καὶ ὡς εἰ̃πεν αὐτω̨̃ δου̃ναι αὐτω̨̃ λύχνον καὶ τοι̃ς υἱοι̃ς αὐτου̃ πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας (Ⅲ)

- Noluit autem Dominus disperdere domum David propter pactum quod inierat cum eo : et quia promiserat ut daret ei lucernam, et filiis ejus omni tempore. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 7 ׃21 ולא אבה יהוה להשחית את בית דויד למען הברית אשר כרת לדויד וכאשר אמר לתת לו ניר ולבניו כל הימים ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 8

In his days the Edomites revolted from under the dominion of Judah, and made themselves a king.

- De son temps, Édom se révolta contre l'autorité de Juda, et se donna un roi. (Ⅱ)

- ἐν ται̃ς ἡμέραις ἐκείναις ἀπέστη Εδωμ ἀπὸ του̃ Ιουδα καὶ ἐβασίλευσαν ἐφ' ἑαυτοὺς βασιλέα (Ⅲ)

- In diebus illis rebellavit Edom, ne esset subditus Judæ, et constituit sibi regem. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 8 ׃21 בימיו פשע אדום מתחת יד יהודה וימליכו עליהם מלך ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 9

Then Jehoram went forth with his princes, and all his chariots with him: and he rose up by night, and smote the Edomites which compassed him in, and the captains of the chariots.

- Joram partit avec ses chefs et tous ses chars; s'étant levé de nuit, il battit les Édomites qui l'entouraient et les chefs des chars. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ὤ̨χετο Ιωραμ μετὰ τω̃ν ἀρχόντων καὶ πα̃σα ἡ ἵππος μετ' αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐγένετο καὶ ἠγέρθη νυκτὸς καὶ ἐπάταξεν Εδωμ τὸν κυκλου̃ντα αὐτὸν καὶ τοὺς ἄρχοντας τω̃ν ἁρμάτων καὶ ἔφυγεν ὁ λαὸς εἰς τὰ σκηνώματα αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Cumque transisset Joram cum principibus suis, et cuncto equitatu qui erat secum, surrexit nocte, et percussit Edom, qui se circumdederat, et omnes duces equitatus ejus. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 9 ׃21 ויעבר יהורם עם שריו וכל הרכב עמו ויהי קם לילה ויך את אדום הסובב אליו ואת שרי הרכב ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 10

So the Edomites revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day. The same time also did Libnah revolt from under his hand; because he had forsaken the LORD God of his fathers.

- La rébellion d'Édom contre l'autorité de Juda a duré jusqu'à ce jour. Libna se révolta dans le même temps contre son autorité, parce qu'il avait abandonné l'Éternel, le Dieu de ses pères. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀπέστη ἀπὸ Ιουδα Εδωμ ἕως τη̃ς ἡμέρας ταύτης τότε ἀπέστη Λομνα ἐν τω̨̃ καιρω̨̃ ἐκείνω̨ ἀπὸ χειρὸς αὐτου̃ ὅτι ἐγκατέλιπεν κύριον θεὸν τω̃ν πατέρων αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Attamen rebellavit Edom, ne esset sub ditione Juda usque ad hanc diem : eo tempore et Lobna recessit ne esset sub manu illius. Dereliquerat enim Dominum Deum patrum suorum : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 10 ׃21 ויפשע אדום מתחת יד יהודה עד היום הזה אז תפשע לבנה בעת ההיא מתחת ידו כי עזב את יהוה אלהי אבתיו ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 11

Moreover he made high places in the mountains of Judah and caused the inhabitants of Jerusalem to commit fornication, and compelled Judah thereto.

- Joram fit même des hauts lieux dans les montagnes de Juda; il poussa les habitants de Jérusalem à la prostitution, et il séduisit Juda. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ γὰρ αὐτὸς ἐποίησεν ὑψηλὰ ἐν πόλεσιν Ιουδα καὶ ἐξεπόρνευσεν τοὺς κατοικου̃ντας ἐν Ιερουσαλημ καὶ ἀπεπλάνησεν τὸν Ιουδαν (Ⅲ)

- insuper et excelsa fabricatus est in urbibus Juda, et fornicari fecit habitatores Jerusalem, et prævaricari Judam.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 11 ׃21 גם הוא עשה במות בהרי יהודה ויזן את ישבי ירושלם וידח את יהודה פ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 12

And there came a writing to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, Thus saith the LORD God of David thy father, Because thou hast not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat thy father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah,

- Il lui vint un écrit du prophète Élie, disant: Ainsi parle l'Éternel, le Dieu de David, ton père: Parce que tu n'as pas marché dans les voies de Josaphat, ton père, et dans les voies d'Asa, roi de Juda, (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἠ̃λθεν αὐτω̨̃ ἐγγραφὴ παρὰ Ηλιου του̃ προφήτου λέγων τάδε λέγει κύριος ὁ θεὸς Δαυιδ του̃ πατρός σου ἀνθ' ὡ̃ν οὐκ ἐπορεύθης ἐν ὁδω̨̃ Ιωσαφατ του̃ πατρός σου καὶ ἐν ὁδοι̃ς Ασα βασιλέως Ιουδα (Ⅲ)

- Allatæ sunt autem ei litteræ ab Elia propheta, in quibus scriptum erat : Hæc dicit Dominus Deus David patris tui : Quoniam non ambulasti in viis Josaphat patris tui, et in viis Asa regis Juda, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 12 ׃21 ויבא אליו מכתב מאליהו הנביא לאמר כה אמר יהוה אלהי דויד אביך תחת אשר לא הלכת בדרכי יהושפט אביך ובדרכי אסא מלך יהודה ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 13

But hast walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and hast made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to go a whoring, like to the whoredoms of the house of Ahab, and also hast slain thy brethren of thy father's house, which were better than thyself:

- mais que tu as marché dans la voie des rois d'Israël; parce que tu as entraîné à la prostitution Juda et les habitants de Jérusalem, comme l'a fait la maison d'Achab à l'égard d'Israël; et parce que tu as fait mourir tes frères, meilleurs que toi, la maison même de ton père; - (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐπορεύθης ἐν ὁδοι̃ς βασιλέων Ισραηλ καὶ ἐξεπόρνευσας τὸν Ιουδαν καὶ τοὺς κατοικου̃ντας ἐν Ιερουσαλημ ὡς ἐξεπόρνευσεν οἰ̃κος Αχααβ καὶ τοὺς ἀδελφούς σου υἱοὺς του̃ πατρός σου τοὺς ἀγαθοὺς ὑπὲρ σὲ ἀπέκτεινας (Ⅲ)

- sed incessisti per iter regum Israël, et fornicari fecisti Judam et habitatores Jerusalem, imitatus fornicationem domus Achab, insuper et fratres tuos, domum patris tui, meliores te, occidisti : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 13 ׃21 ותלך בדרך מלכי ישראל ותזנה את יהודה ואת ישבי ירושלם כהזנות בית אחאב וגם את אחיך בית אביך הטובים ממך הרגת ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 14

Behold, with a great plague will the LORD smite thy people, and thy children, and thy wives, and all thy goods:

- voici, l'Éternel frappera ton peuple d'une grande plaie, tes fils, tes femmes, et tout ce qui t'appartient; (Ⅱ)

- ἰδοὺ κύριος πατάξει σε πληγὴν μεγάλην ἐν τω̨̃ λαω̨̃ σου καὶ ἐν τοι̃ς υἱοι̃ς σου καὶ ἐν γυναιξίν σου καὶ ἐν πάση̨ τη̨̃ ἀποσκευη̨̃ σου (Ⅲ)

- ecce Dominus percutiet te plaga magna cum populo tuo, et filiis, et uxoribus tuis, universaque substantia tua. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 14 ׃21 הנה יהוה נגף מגפה גדולה בעמך ובבניך ובנשיך ובכל רכושך ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 15

And thou shalt have great sickness by disease of thy bowels, until thy bowels fall out by reason of the sickness day by day.

- et toi, il te frappera d'une maladie violente, d'une maladie d'entrailles, qui augmentera de jour en jour jusqu'à ce que tes entrailles sortent par la force du mal. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ σὺ ἐν μαλακία̨ πονηρα̨̃ ἐν νόσω̨ κοιλίας ἕως οὑ̃ ἐξέλθη̨ ἡ κοιλία σου μετὰ τη̃ς μαλακίας ἐξ ἡμερω̃ν εἰς ἡμέρας (Ⅲ)

- Tu autem ægrotabis pessimo languore uteri tui, donec egrediantur vitalia tua paulatim per singulos dies. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 15 ׃21 ואתה בחליים רבים במחלה מעיך עד יצאו מעיך מן החלי ימים על ימים ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 16

Moreover the LORD stirred up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines, and of the Arabians, that were near the Ethiopians:

- Et l'Éternel excita contre Joram l'esprit des Philistins et des Arabes qui sont dans le voisinage des Éthiopiens. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐπήγειρεν κύριος ἐπὶ Ιωραμ τοὺς ἀλλοφύλους καὶ τοὺς 'Άραβας καὶ τοὺς ὁμόρους τω̃ν Αἰθιόπων (Ⅲ)

- Suscitavit ergo Dominus contra Joram spiritum Philisthinorum, et Arabum qui confines sunt Æthiopibus : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 16 ׃21 ויער יהוה על יהורם את רוח הפלשתים והערבים אשר על יד כושים ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 17

And they came up into Judah, and brake into it, and carried away all the substance that was found in the king's house, and his sons also, and his wives; so that there was never a son left him, save Jehoahaz, the youngest of his sons.

- Ils montèrent contre Juda, y firent une invasion, pillèrent toutes les richesses qui se trouvaient dans la maison du roi, et emmenèrent ses fils et ses femmes, de sorte qu'il ne lui resta d'autre fils que Joachaz, le plus jeune de ses fils. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀνέβησαν ἐπὶ Ιουδαν καὶ κατεδυνάστευον καὶ ἀπέστρεψαν πα̃σαν τὴν ἀποσκευήν ἣν εὑ̃ρον ἐν οἴκω̨ του̃ βασιλέως καὶ τοὺς υἱοὺς αὐτου̃ καὶ τὰς θυγατέρας αὐτου̃ καὶ οὐ κατελείφθη αὐτω̨̃ υἱὸς ἀλλ' ἢ Οχοζιας ὁ μικρότατος τω̃ν υἱω̃ν αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- et ascenderunt in terram Juda, et vastaverunt eam, diripueruntque cunctam substantiam quæ inventa est in domo regis, insuper et filios ejus, et uxores : nec remansit ei filius, nisi Joachaz, qui minimus natu erat. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 17 ׃21 ויעלו ביהודה ויבקעוה וישבו את כל הרכוש הנמצא לבית המלך וגם בניו ונשיו ולא נשאר לו בן כי אם יהואחז קטן בניו ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 18

And after all this the LORD smote him in his bowels with an incurable disease.

- Après tout cela, l'Éternel le frappa d'une maladie d'entrailles qui était sans remède; (Ⅱ)

- καὶ μετὰ ταυ̃τα πάντα ἐπάταξεν αὐτὸν κύριος εἰς τὴν κοιλίαν μαλακία̨ ἐν ἡ̨̃ οὐκ ἔστιν ἰατρεία (Ⅲ)

- Et super hæc omnia percussit eum Dominus alvi languore insanabili. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 18 ׃21 ואחרי כל זאת נגפו יהוה במעיו לחלי לאין מרפא ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 19

And it came to pass, that in process of time, after the end of two years, his bowels fell out by reason of his sickness: so he died of sore diseases. And his people made no burning for him, like the burning of his fathers.

- elle augmenta de jour en jour, et sur la fin de la seconde année les entrailles de Joram sortirent par la force de son mal. Il mourut dans de violentes souffrances; et son peuple ne brûla point de parfums en son honneur, comme il l'avait fait pour ses pères. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐγένετο ἐξ ἡμερω̃ν εἰς ἡμέρας καὶ ὡς ἠ̃λθεν καιρὸς τω̃ν ἡμερω̃ν ἡμέρας δύο ἐξη̃λθεν ἡ κοιλία αὐτου̃ μετὰ τη̃ς νόσου καὶ ἀπέθανεν ἐν μαλακία̨ πονηρα̨̃ καὶ οὐκ ἐποίησεν ὁ λαὸς αὐτου̃ ἐκφορὰν καθὼς ἐκφορὰν πατέρων αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Cumque diei succederet dies, et temporum spatia volverentur, duorum annorum expletus est circulus : et sic longa consumptus tabe, ita ut egereret etiam viscera sua, languore pariter, et vita caruit. Mortuusque est in infirmitate pessima, et non fecit ei populus secundum morem combustionis exequias, sicut fecerat majoribus ejus. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 19 ׃21 ויהי לימים מימים וכעת צאת הקץ לימים שנים יצאו מעיו עם חליו וימת בתחלאים רעים ולא עשו לו עמו שרפה כשרפת אבתיו ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 20

Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years, and departed without being desired. Howbeit they buried him in the city of David, but not in the sepulchres of the kings.

- Il avait trente-deux ans lorsqu'il devint roi, et il régna huit ans à Jérusalem. Il s'en alla sans être regretté, et on l'enterra dans la ville de David, mais non dans les sépulcres des rois. (Ⅱ)

- ἠ̃ν τριάκοντα καὶ δύο ἐτω̃ν ὅτε ἐβασίλευσεν καὶ ὀκτὼ ἔτη ἐβασίλευσεν ἐν Ιερουσαλημ καὶ ἐπορεύθη ἐν οὐκ ἐπαίνω̨ καὶ ἐτάφη ἐν πόλει Δαυιδ καὶ οὐκ ἐν τάφοις τω̃ν βασιλέων (Ⅲ)

- Triginta duorum annorum fuit cum regnare cœpisset, et octo annis regnavit in Jerusalem. Ambulavitque non recte, et sepelierunt eum in civitate David, verumtamen non in sepulchro regum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 20 ׃21 בן שלשים ושתים היה במלכו ושמונה שנים מלך בירושלם וילך בלא חמדה ויקברהו בעיר דויד ולא בקברות המלכים ‬ (Ⅴ)
