32. 1

After these things, and the establishment thereof, Sennacherib king of Assyria came, and entered into Judah, and encamped against the fenced cities, and thought to win them for himself.

- Après ces choses et ces actes de fidélité, parut Sanchérib, roi d'Assyrie, qui pénétra en Juda, et assiégea les villes fortes, dans l'intention de s'en emparer. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ μετὰ τοὺς λόγους τούτους καὶ τὴν ἀλήθειαν ταύτην ἠ̃λθεν Σενναχηριμ βασιλεὺς 'Ασσυρίων καὶ ἠ̃λθεν ἐπὶ Ιουδαν καὶ παρενέβαλεν ἐπὶ τὰς πόλεις τὰς τειχήρεις καὶ εἰ̃πεν προκαταλαβέσθαι αὐτάς (Ⅲ)

- Post quæ et hujuscemodi veritatem, venit Sennacherib rex Assyriorum, et ingressus Judam, obsedit civitates munitas, volens eas capere. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 1 ׃32 אחרי הדברים והאמת האלה בא סנחריב מלך אשור ויבא ביהודה ויחן על הערים הבצרות ויאמר לבקעם אליו ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 2

And when Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib was come, and that he was purposed to fight against Jerusalem,

- Ézéchias, voyant que Sanchérib était venu et qu'il se proposait d'attaquer Jérusalem, (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃δεν Εζεκιας ὅτι ἥκει Σενναχηριμ καὶ τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτου̃ του̃ πολεμη̃σαι ἐπὶ Ιερουσαλημ (Ⅲ)

- Quod cum vidisset Ezechias, venisse scilicet Sennacherib, et totum belli impetum verti contra Jerusalem, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 2 ׃32 וירא יחזקיהו כי בא סנחריב ופניו למלחמה על ירושלם ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 3

He took counsel with his princes and his mighty men to stop the waters of the fountains which were without the city: and they did help him.

- tint conseil avec ses chefs et ses hommes vaillants, afin de boucher les sources d'eau qui étaient hors de la ville; et ils furent de son avis. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐβουλεύσατο μετὰ τω̃ν πρεσβυτέρων αὐτου̃ καὶ τω̃ν δυνατω̃ν ἐμφράξαι τὰ ὕδατα τω̃ν πηγω̃ν ἃ ἠ̃ν ἔξω τη̃ς πόλεως καὶ συνεπίσχυσαν αὐτω̨̃ (Ⅲ)

- inito cum principibus consilio, virisque fortissimis, ut obturarent capita fontium qui erant extra urbem : et hoc omnium decernente sententia, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 3 ׃32 ויועץ עם שריו וגבריו לסתום את מימי העינות אשר מחוץ לעיר ויעזרוהו ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 4

So there was gathered much people together, who stopped all the fountains, and the brook that ran through the midst of the land, saying, Why should the kings of Assyria come, and find much water?

- Une foule de gens se rassemblèrent, et ils bouchèrent toutes les sources et le ruisseau qui coule au milieu de la contrée. Pourquoi, disaient-ils, les rois d'Assyrie trouveraient-ils à leur arrivée des eaux en abondance? (Ⅱ)

- καὶ συνήγαγεν λαὸν πολὺν καὶ ἐνέφραξεν τὰ ὕδατα τω̃ν πηγω̃ν καὶ τὸν ποταμὸν τὸν διορίζοντα διὰ τη̃ς πόλεως λέγων μὴ ἔλθη̨ βασιλεὺς Ασσουρ καὶ εὕρη̨ ὕδωρ πολὺ καὶ κατισχύση̨ (Ⅲ)

- congregavit plurimam multitudinem, et obturaverunt cunctos fontes, et rivum qui fluebat in medio terræ, dicentes : Ne veniant reges Assyriorum, et inveniant aquarum abundantiam. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 4 ׃32 ויקבצו עם רב ויסתמו את כל המעינות ואת הנחל השוטף בתוך הארץ לאמר למה יבואו מלכי אשור ומצאו מים רבים ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 5

Also he strengthened himself, and built up all the wall that was broken, and raised it up to the towers, and another wall without, and repaired Millo in the city of David, and made darts and shields in abundance.

- Ézéchias prit courage; il reconstruisit la muraille qui était en ruine et l'éleva jusqu'aux tours, bâtit un autre mur en dehors, fortifia Millo dans la cité de David, et prépara une quantité d'armes et de boucliers. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ κατίσχυσεν Εζεκιας καὶ ὠ̨κοδόμησεν πα̃ν τὸ τει̃χος τὸ κατεσκαμμένον καὶ πύργους καὶ ἔξω προτείχισμα ἄλλο καὶ κατίσχυσεν τὸ ἀνάλημμα πόλεως Δαυιδ καὶ κατεσκεύασεν ὅπλα πολλά (Ⅲ)

- Ædificavit quoque, agens industrie, omnem murum qui fuerat dissipatus, et exstruxit turres desuper, et forinsecus alterum murum : instauravitque Mello in civitate David, et fecit universi generis armaturam et clypeos : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 5 ׃32 ויתחזק ויבן את כל החומה הפרוצה ויעל על המגדלות ולחוצה החומה אחרת ויחזק את המלוא עיר דויד ויעש שלח לרב ומגנים ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 6

And he set captains of war over the people, and gathered them together to him in the street of the gate of the city, and spake comfortably to them, saying,

- Il donna des chefs militaires au peuple, et les réunit auprès de lui sur la place de la porte de la ville. S'adressant à leur coeur, il dit: (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἔθετο ἄρχοντας του̃ πολέμου ἐπὶ τὸν λαόν καὶ συνήχθησαν πρὸς αὐτὸν εἰς τὴν πλατει̃αν τη̃ς πύλης τη̃ς φάραγγος καὶ ἐλάλησεν ἐπὶ καρδίαν αὐτω̃ν λέγων (Ⅲ)

- constituitque principes bellatorum in exercitu, et convocavit universos in platea portæ civitatis, ac locutus est ad cor eorum, dicens : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 6 ׃32 ויתן שרי מלחמות על העם ויקבצם אליו אל רחוב שער העיר וידבר על לבבם לאמר ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 7

Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that is with him: for there be more with us than with him:

- Fortifiez-vous et ayez du courage! Ne craignez point et ne soyez point effrayés devant le roi d'Assyrie et devant toute la multitude qui est avec lui; car avec nous il y a plus qu'avec lui. (Ⅱ)

- ἰσχύσατε καὶ ἀνδρίζεσθε μὴ πτοηθη̃τε ἀπὸ προσώπου βασιλέως Ασσουρ καὶ ἀπὸ προσώπου παντὸς του̃ ἔθνους του̃ μετ' αὐτου̃ ὅτι μεθ' ἡμω̃ν πλείονες ἢ μετ' αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Viriliter agite, et confortamini : nolite timere, nec paveatis regem Assyriorum, et universam multitudinem quæ est cum eo : multo enim plures nobiscum sunt, quam cum illo. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 7 ׃32 חזקו ואמצו אל תיראו ואל תחתו מפני מלך אשור ומלפני כל ההמון אשר עמו כי עמנו רב מעמו ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 8

With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the LORD our God to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.

- Avec lui est un bras de chair, et avec nous l'Éternel, notre Dieu, qui nous aidera et qui combattra pour nous. Le peuple eut confiance dans les paroles d'Ézéchias, roi de Juda. (Ⅱ)

- μετ' αὐτου̃ βραχίονες σάρκινοι μεθ' ἡμω̃ν δὲ κύριος ὁ θεὸς ἡμω̃ν του̃ σώ̨ζειν καὶ του̃ πολεμει̃ν τὸν πόλεμον ἡμω̃ν καὶ κατεθάρσησεν ὁ λαὸς ἐπὶ τοι̃ς λόγοις Εζεκιου βασιλέως Ιουδα (Ⅲ)

- Cum illo enim est brachium carneum : nobiscum Dominus Deus noster, qui auxiliator est noster, pugnatque pro nobis. Confortatusque est populus hujuscemodi verbis Ezechiæ regis Juda.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 8 ׃32 עמו זרוע בשר ועמנו יהוה אלהינו לעזרנו ולהלחם מלחמתנו ויסמכו העם על דברי יחזקיהו מלך יהודה פ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 9

After this did Sennacherib king of Assyria send his servants to Jerusalem, (but he himself laid siege against Lachish, and all his power with him,) unto Hezekiah king of Judah, and unto all Judah that were at Jerusalem, saying,

- Après cela, Sanchérib, roi d'Assyrie, envoya ses serviteurs à Jérusalem, pendant qu'il était devant Lakis avec toutes ses forces; il les envoya vers Ézéchias, roi de Juda, et vers tous ceux de Juda qui étaient à Jérusalem, pour leur dire: (Ⅱ)

- καὶ μετὰ ταυ̃τα ἀπέστειλεν Σενναχηριμ βασιλεὺς 'Ασσυρίων τοὺς παι̃δας αὐτου̃ ἐπὶ Ιερουσαλημ καὶ αὐτὸς ἐπὶ Λαχις καὶ πα̃σα ἡ στρατιὰ μετ' αὐτου̃ καὶ ἀπέστειλεν πρὸς Εζεκιαν βασιλέα Ιουδα καὶ πρὸς πάντα Ιουδαν τὸν ἐν Ιερουσαλημ λέγων (Ⅲ)

- Quæ postquam gesta sunt, misit Sennacherib rex Assyriorum servos suos in Jerusalem (ipse enim cum universo exercitu obsidebat Lachis) ad Ezechiam regem Juda, et ad omnem populum qui erat in urbe, dicens : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 9 ׃32 אחר זה שלח סנחריב מלך אשור עבדיו ירושלימה והוא על לכיש וכל ממשלתו עמו על יחזקיהו מלך יהודה ועל כל יהודה אשר בירושלם לאמר ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 10

Thus saith Sennacherib king of Assyria, Whereon do ye trust, that ye abide in the siege in Jerusalem?

- Ainsi parle Sanchérib, roi d'Assyrie: Sur quoi repose votre confiance, pour que vous restiez à Jérusalem dans la détresse? (Ⅱ)

- οὕτως λέγει Σενναχηριμ ὁ βασιλεὺς 'Ασσυρίων ἐπὶ τίνι ὑμει̃ς πεποίθατε καὶ κάθησθε ἐν τη̨̃ περιοχη̨̃ ἐν Ιερουσαλημ (Ⅲ)

- Hæc dicit Sennacherib rex Assyriorum : In quo habentes fiduciam sedetis obsessi in Jerusalem ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 10 ׃32 כה אמר סנחריב מלך אשור על מה אתם בטחים וישבים במצור בירושלם ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 11

Doth not Hezekiah persuade you to give over yourselves to die by famine and by thirst, saying, The LORD our God shall deliver us out of the hand of the king of Assyria?

- Ézéchias ne vous abuse-t-il pas pour vous livrer à la mort par la famine et par la soif, quand il dit: L'Éternel, notre Dieu, nous sauvera de la main du roi d'Assyrie? (Ⅱ)

- οὐχὶ Εζεκιας ἀπατα̨̃ ὑμα̃ς του̃ παραδου̃ναι ὑμα̃ς εἰς θάνατον καὶ εἰς λιμὸν καὶ εἰς δίψαν λέγων κύριος ὁ θεὸς ἡμω̃ν σώσει ἡμα̃ς ἐκ χειρὸς βασιλέως Ασσουρ (Ⅲ)

- num Ezechias decipit vos, ut tradat morti in fame et siti, affirmans quod Dominus Deus vester liberet vos de manu regis Assyriorum ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 11 ׃32 הלא יחזקיהו מסית אתכם לתת אתכם למות ברעב ובצמא לאמר יהוה אלהינו יצילנו מכף מלך אשור ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 12

Hath not the same Hezekiah taken away his high places and his altars, and commanded Judah and Jerusalem, saying, Ye shall worship before one altar, and burn incense upon it?

- N'est-ce pas lui, Ézéchias, qui a fait disparaître les hauts lieux et les autels de l'Éternel, et qui a donné cet ordre à Juda et à Jérusalem: Vous vous prosternerez devant un seul autel, et vous y offrirez les parfums? (Ⅱ)

- οὐχ οὑ̃τός ἐστιν Εζεκιας ὃς περιει̃λεν τὰ θυσιαστήρια αὐτου̃ καὶ τὰ ὑψηλὰ αὐτου̃ καὶ εἰ̃πεν τω̨̃ Ιουδα καὶ τοι̃ς κατοικου̃σιν Ιερουσαλημ λέγων κατέναντι του̃ θυσιαστηρίου τούτου προσκυνήσετε καὶ ἐπ' αὐτω̨̃ θυμιάσετε (Ⅲ)

- Numquid non iste est Ezechias, qui destruxit excelsa illius, et altaria, et præcepit Juda et Jerusalem, dicens : Coram altari uno adorabitis, et in ipso comburetis incensum ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 12 ׃32 הלא הוא יחזקיהו הסיר את במתיו ואת מזבחתיו ויאמר ליהודה ולירושלם לאמר לפני מזבח אחד תשתחוו ועליו תקטירו ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 13

Know ye not what I and my fathers have done unto all the people of other lands? were the gods of the nations of those lands any ways able to deliver their lands out of mine hand?

- Ne savez-vous pas ce que nous avons fait, moi et mes pères, à tous les peuples des autres pays? Les dieux des nations de ces pays ont-ils pu délivrer leurs pays de ma main? (Ⅱ)

- οὐ γνώσεσθε ὅ τι ἐποίησα ἐγὼ καὶ οἱ πατέρες μου πα̃σι τοι̃ς λαοι̃ς τω̃ν χωρω̃ν μὴ δυνάμενοι ἠδύναντο θεοὶ τω̃ν ἐθνω̃ν πάσης τη̃ς γη̃ς σω̃σαι τὸν λαὸν αὐτω̃ν ἐκ χειρός μου (Ⅲ)

- an ignoratis quæ ego fecerim, et patres mei, cunctis terrarum populis ? numquid prævaluerunt dii gentium, omniumque terrarum, liberare regionem suam de manu mea ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 13 ׃32 הלא תדעו מה עשיתי אני ואבותי לכל עמי הארצות היכול יכלו אלהי גוי הארצות להציל את ארצם מידי ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 14

Who was there among all the gods of those nations that my fathers utterly destroyed, that could deliver his people out of mine hand, that your God should be able to deliver you out of mine hand?

- Parmi tous les dieux de ces nations que mes pères ont exterminées, quel est celui qui a pu délivrer son peuple de ma main, pour que votre Dieu puisse vous délivrer de ma main? (Ⅱ)

- τίς ἐν πα̃σι τοι̃ς θεοι̃ς τω̃ν ἐθνω̃ν τούτων οὓς ἐξωλέθρευσαν οἱ πατέρες μου μὴ ἠδύναντο σω̃σαι τὸν λαὸν αὐτω̃ν ἐκ χειρός μου ὅτι δυνήσεται ὁ θεὸς ὑμω̃ν σω̃σαι ὑμα̃ς ἐκ χειρός μου (Ⅲ)

- Quis est de universis diis gentium, quas vastaverunt patres mei, qui potuerit eruere populum suum de manu mea, ut possit etiam Deus vester eruere vos de hac manu ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 14 ׃32 מי בכל אלהי הגוים האלה אשר החרימו אבותי אשר יכול להציל את עמו מידי כי יוכל אלהיכם להציל אתכם מידי ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 15

Now therefore let not Hezekiah deceive you, nor persuade you on this manner, neither yet believe him: for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people out of mine hand, and out of the hand of my fathers: how much less shall your God deliver you out of mine hand?

- Qu'Ézéchias ne vous séduise donc point et qu'il ne vous abuse point ainsi; ne vous fiez pas à lui! Car aucun dieu d'aucune nation ni d'aucun royaume n'a pu délivrer son peuple de ma main et de la main de mes pères: combien moins votre Dieu vous délivrera-t-il de ma main? (Ⅱ)

- νυ̃ν μὴ ἀπατάτω ὑμα̃ς Εζεκιας καὶ μὴ πεποιθέναι ὑμα̃ς ποιείτω κατὰ ταυ̃τα καὶ μὴ πιστεύετε αὐτω̨̃ ὅτι οὐ μὴ δύνηται ὁ θεὸς παντὸς ἔθνους καὶ βασιλείας του̃ σω̃σαι τὸν λαὸν αὐτου̃ ἐκ χειρός μου καὶ ἐκ χειρὸς πατέρων μου ὅτι ὁ θεὸς ὑμω̃ν οὐ μὴ σώσει ὑμα̃ς ἐκ χειρός μου (Ⅲ)

- non vos ergo decipiat Ezechias, nec vana persuasione deludat, neque credatis ei. Si enim nullus potuit deus cunctarum gentium atque regnorum liberare populum suum de manu mea, et de manu patrum meorum, consequenter nec Deus vester poterit eruere vos de manu mea. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 15 ׃32 ועתה אל ישיא אתכם חזקיהו ואל יסית אתכם כזאת ואל תאמינו לו כי לא יוכל כל אלוה כל גוי וממלכה להציל עמו מידי ומיד אבותי אף כי אלהיכם לא יצילו אתכם מידי ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 16

And his servants spake yet more against the LORD God, and against his servant Hezekiah.

- Les serviteurs de Sanchérib parlèrent encore contre l'Éternel Dieu, et contre Ézéchias, son serviteur. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἔτι ἐλάλησαν οἱ παι̃δες αὐτου̃ ἐπὶ κύριον θεὸν καὶ ἐπὶ Εζεκιαν παι̃δα αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Sed et alia multa locuti sunt servi ejus contra Dominum Deum, et contra Ezechiam servum ejus. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 16 ׃32 ועוד דברו עבדיו על יהוה האלהים ועל יחזקיהו עבדו ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 17

He wrote also letters to rail on the LORD God of Israel, and to speak against him, saying, As the gods of the nations of other lands have not delivered their people out of mine hand, so shall not the God of Hezekiah deliver his people out of mine hand.

- Et il envoya une lettre insultante pour l'Éternel, le Dieu d'Israël, en s'exprimant ainsi contre lui: De même que les dieux des nations des autres pays n'ont pu délivrer leur peuple de ma main, de même le Dieu d'Ézéchias ne délivrera pas son peuple de ma main. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ βιβλίον ἔγραψεν ὀνειδίζειν τὸν κύριον θεὸν Ισραηλ καὶ εἰ̃πεν περὶ αὐτου̃ λέγων ὡς θεοὶ τω̃ν ἐθνω̃ν τη̃ς γη̃ς οὐκ ἐξείλαντο τοὺς λαοὺς αὐτω̃ν ἐκ χειρός μου οὕτως οὐ μὴ ἐξέληται ὁ θεὸς Εζεκιου λαὸν αὐτου̃ ἐκ χειρός μου (Ⅲ)

- Epistolas quoque scripsit plenas blasphemiæ in Dominum Deum Israël, et locutus est adversus eum : Sicut dii gentium ceterarum non potuerunt liberare populum suum de manu mea, sic et Deus Ezechiæ eruere non poterit populum suum de manu ista. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 17 ׃32 וספרים כתב לחרף ליהוה אלהי ישראל ולאמר עליו לאמר כאלהי גוי הארצות אשר לא הצילו עמם מידי כן לא יציל אלהי יחזקיהו עמו מידי ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 18

Then they cried with a loud voice in the Jews' speech unto the people of Jerusalem that were on the wall, to affright them, and to trouble them; that they might take the city.

- Les serviteurs de Sanchérib crièrent à haute voix en langue judaïque, afin de jeter l'effroi et l'épouvante parmi le peuple de Jérusalem qui était sur la muraille, et de pouvoir ainsi s'emparer de la ville. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐβόησεν φωνη̨̃ μεγάλη̨ Ιουδαϊστὶ ἐπὶ λαὸν Ιερουσαλημ τὸν ἐπὶ του̃ τείχους του̃ φοβη̃σαι αὐτοὺς καὶ κατασπάσαι ὅπως προκαταλάβωνται τὴν πόλιν (Ⅲ)

- Insuper et clamore magno, lingua judaica, contra populum qui sedebat in muris Jerusalem, personabat, ut terreret eos, et caperet civitatem. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 18 ׃32 ויקראו בקול גדול יהודית על עם ירושלם אשר על החומה ליראם ולבהלם למען ילכדו את העיר ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 19

And they spake against the God of Jerusalem, as against the gods of the people of the earth, which were the work of the hands of man.

- Ils parlèrent du Dieu de Jérusalem comme des dieux des peuples de la terre, ouvrages de mains d'homme. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐλάλησεν ἐπὶ θεὸν Ιερουσαλημ ὡς καὶ ἐπὶ θεοὺς λαω̃ν τη̃ς γη̃ς ἔργα χειρω̃ν ἀνθρώπων (Ⅲ)

- Locutusque est contra Deum Jerusalem, sicut adversum deos populorum terræ, opera manuum hominum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 19 ׃32 וידברו אל אלהי ירושלם כעל אלהי עמי הארץ מעשה ידי האדם ס‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 20

And for this cause Hezekiah the king, and the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz, prayed and cried to heaven.

- Le roi Ézéchias et le prophète Ésaïe, fils d'Amots, se mirent à prier à ce sujet, et ils crièrent au ciel. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ προσηύξατο Εζεκιας ὁ βασιλεὺς καὶ Ησαιας υἱὸς Αμως ὁ προφήτης περὶ τούτων καὶ ἐβόησαν εἰς τὸν οὐρανόν (Ⅲ)

- Oraverunt igitur Ezechias rex, et Isaias filius Amos prophetes, adversum hanc blasphemiam, ac vociferati sunt usque in cælum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 20 ׃32 ויתפלל יחזקיהו המלך וישעיהו בן אמוץ הנביא על זאת ויזעקו השמים פ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 21

And the LORD sent an angel, which cut off all the mighty men of valor, and the leaders and captains in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. And when he was come into the house of his god, they that came forth of his own bowels slew him there with the sword.

- Alors l'Éternel envoya un ange, qui extermina dans le camp du roi d'Assyrie tous les vaillants hommes, les princes et les chefs. Et le roi confus retourna dans son pays. Il entra dans la maison de son dieu, et là ceux qui étaient sortis de ses entrailles le firent tomber par l'épée. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀπέστειλεν κύριος ἄγγελον καὶ ἐξέτριψεν πα̃ν δυνατὸν πολεμιστὴν καὶ ἄρχοντα καὶ στρατηγὸν ἐν τη̨̃ παρεμβολη̨̃ βασιλέως Ασσουρ καὶ ἀπέστρεψεν μετὰ αἰσχύνης προσώπου εἰς τὴν γη̃ν αὐτου̃ καὶ ἠ̃λθεν εἰς οἰ̃κον του̃ θεου̃ αὐτου̃ καὶ τω̃ν ἐξελθόντων ἐκ κοιλίας αὐτου̃ κατέβαλον αὐτὸν ἐν ῥομφαία̨ (Ⅲ)

- Et misit Dominus angelum, qui percussit omnem virum robustum, et bellatorem, et principem exercitus regis Assyriorum : reversusque est cum ignominia in terram suam. Cumque ingressus esset domum dei sui, filii qui egressi fuerant de utero ejus interfecerunt eum gladio. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 21 ׃32 וישלח יהוה מלאך ויכחד כל גבור חיל ונגיד ושר במחנה מלך אשור וישב בבשת פנים לארצו ויבא בית אלהיו *ומיציאו **ומיציאי מעיו שם הפילהו בחרב ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 22

Thus the LORD saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria, and from the hand of all other, and guided them on every side.

- Ainsi l'Éternel sauva Ézéchias et les habitants de Jérusalem de la main de Sanchérib, roi d'Assyrie, et de la main de tous, et il les protégea contre ceux qui les entouraient. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἔσωσεν κύριος Εζεκιαν καὶ τοὺς κατοικου̃ντας ἐν Ιερουσαλημ ἐκ χειρὸς Σενναχηριμ βασιλέως Ασσουρ καὶ ἐκ χειρὸς πάντων καὶ κατέπαυσεν αὐτοὺς κυκλόθεν (Ⅲ)

- Salvavitque Dominus Ezechiam et habitatores Jerusalem de manu Sennacherib regis Assyriorum, et de manu omnium, et præstitit eis quietem per circuitum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 22 ׃32 ויושע יהוה את יחזקיהו ואת ישבי ירושלם מיד סנחריב מלך אשור ומיד כל וינהלם מסביב ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 23

And many brought gifts unto the LORD to Jerusalem, and presents to Hezekiah king of Judah: so that he was magnified in the sight of all nations from thenceforth.

- Beaucoup de gens apportèrent dans Jérusalem des offrandes à l'Éternel, et de riches présents à Ézéchias, roi de Juda, qui depuis lors fut élevé aux yeux de toutes les nations. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ πολλοὶ ἔφερον δω̃ρα τω̨̃ κυρίω̨ εἰς Ιερουσαλημ καὶ δόματα τω̨̃ Εζεκια βασιλει̃ Ιουδα καὶ ὑπερήρθη κατ' ὀφθαλμοὺς πάντων τω̃ν ἐθνω̃ν μετὰ ταυ̃τα (Ⅲ)

- Multi etiam deferebant hostias et sacrificia Domino in Jerusalem, et munera Ezechiæ regi Juda : qui exaltatus est post hæc coram cunctis gentibus.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 23 ׃32 ורבים מביאים מנחה ליהוה לירושלם ומגדנות ליחזקיהו מלך יהודה וינשא לעיני כל הגוים מאחרי כן ס‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 24

In those days Hezekiah was sick to the death, and prayed unto the LORD: and he spake unto him, and he gave him a sign.

- En ce temps-là, Ézéchias fut malade à la mort. Il fit une prière à l'Éternel; et l'Éternel lui adressa la parole, et lui accorda un prodige. (Ⅱ)

- ἐν ται̃ς ἡμέραις ἐκείναις ἠρρώστησεν Εζεκιας ἕως θανάτου καὶ προσηύξατο πρὸς κύριον καὶ ἐπήκουσεν αὐτου̃ καὶ σημει̃ον ἔδωκεν αὐτω̨̃ (Ⅲ)

- In diebus illis ægrotavit Ezechias usque ad mortem, et oravit Dominum : exaudivitque eum, et dedit ei signum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 24 ׃32 בימים ההם חלה יחזקיהו עד למות ויתפלל אל יהוה ויאמר לו ומופת נתן לו ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 25

But Hezekiah rendered not again according to the benefit done unto him; for his heart was lifted up: therefore there was wrath upon him, and upon Judah and Jerusalem.

- Mais Ézéchias ne répondit point au bienfait qu'il avait reçu, car son coeur s'éleva; et la colère de l'Éternel fut sur lui, sur Juda et sur Jérusalem. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ οὐ κατὰ τὸ ἀνταπόδομα ὃ ἔδωκεν αὐτω̨̃ ἀνταπέδωκεν Εζεκιας ἀλλὰ ὑψώθη ἡ καρδία αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐγένετο ἐπ' αὐτὸν ὀργὴ καὶ ἐπὶ Ιουδαν καὶ Ιερουσαλημ (Ⅲ)

- Sed non juxta beneficia quæ acceperat, retribuit, quia elevatum est cor ejus : et facta est contra eum ira, et contra Judam et Jerusalem. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 25 ׃32 ולא כגמל עליו השיב יחזקיהו כי גבה לבו ויהי עליו קצף ועל יהודה וירושלם ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 26

Notwithstanding Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of the LORD came not upon them in the days of Hezekiah.

- Alors Ézéchias, du sein de son orgueil, s'humilia avec les habitants de Jérusalem, et la colère de l'Éternel ne vint pas sur eux pendant la vie d'Ézéchias. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐταπεινώθη Εζεκιας ἀπὸ του̃ ὕψους τη̃ς καρδίας αὐτου̃ καὶ οἱ κατοικου̃ντες Ιερουσαλημ καὶ οὐκ ἐπη̃λθεν ἐπ' αὐτοὺς ὀργὴ κυρίου ἐν ται̃ς ἡμέραις Εζεκιου (Ⅲ)

- Humiliatusque est postea, eo quod exaltatum fuisset cor ejus, tam ipse quam habitatores Jerusalem : et idcirco non venit super eos ira Domini in diebus Ezechiæ. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 26 ׃32 ויכנע יחזקיהו בגבה לבו הוא וישבי ירושלם ולא בא עליהם קצף יהוה בימי יחזקיהו ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 27

And Hezekiah had exceeding much riches and honor: and he made himself treasuries for silver, and for gold, and for precious stones, and for spices, and for shields, and for all manner of pleasant jewels;

- Ézéchias eut beaucoup de richesses et de gloire. Il se fit des trésors d'argent, d'or, de pierres précieuses, d'aromates, de boucliers et de tous les objets qu'on peut désirer; (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐγένετο τω̨̃ Εζεκια πλου̃τος καὶ δόξα πολλὴ σφόδρα καὶ θησαυροὺς ἐποίησεν ἑαυτω̨̃ ἀργυρίου καὶ χρυσίου καὶ του̃ λίθου του̃ τιμίου καὶ εἰς τὰ ἀρώματα καὶ ὁπλοθήκας καὶ εἰς σκεύη ἐπιθυμητὰ (Ⅲ)

- Fuit autem Ezechias dives, et inclytus valde, et thesauros sibi plurimos congregavit argenti, et auri, et lapidis pretiosi, aromatum, et armorum universi generis, et vasorum magni pretii. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 27 ׃32 ויהי ליחזקיהו עשר וכבוד הרבה מאד ואצרות עשה לו לכסף ולזהב ולאבן יקרה ולבשמים ולמגנים ולכל כלי חמדה ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 28

Storehouses also for the increase of corn, and wine, and oil; and stalls for all manner of beasts, and cotes for flocks.

- des magasins pour les produits en blé, en moût et en huile, des crèches pour toute espèce de bétail, et des étables pour les troupeaux. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ πόλεις εἰς τὰ γενήματα σίτου καὶ ἐλαίου καὶ οἴνου καὶ φάτνας παντὸς κτήνους καὶ μάνδρας εἰς τὰ ποίμνια (Ⅲ)

- Apothecas quoque frumenti, vini, et olei, et præsepia omnium jumentorum, caulasque pecorum, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 28 ׃32 ומסכנות לתבואת דגן ותירוש ויצהר וארות לכל בהמה ובהמה ועדרים לאורות ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 29

Moreover he provided him cities, and possessions of flocks and herds in abundance: for God had given him substance very much.

- Il se bâtit des villes, et il eut en abondance des troupeaux de menu et de gros bétail; car Dieu lui avait donné des biens considérables. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ πόλεις ἃς ὠ̨κοδόμησεν αὑτω̨̃ καὶ ἀποσκευὴν προβάτων καὶ βοω̃ν εἰς πλη̃θος ὅτι ἔδωκεν αὐτω̨̃ κύριος ἀποσκευὴν πολλὴν σφόδρα (Ⅲ)

- et urbes ædificavit sibi : habebat quippe greges ovium et armentorum innumerabiles, eo quod dedisset ei Dominus substantiam multam nimis. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 29 ׃32 וערים עשה לו ומקנה צאן ובקר לרב כי נתן לו אלהים רכוש רב מאד ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 30

This same Hezekiah also stopped the upper watercourse of Gihon, and brought it straight down to the west side of the city of David. And Hezekiah prospered in all his works.

- Ce fut aussi lui, Ézéchias, qui boucha l'issue supérieure des eaux de Guihon, et les conduisit en bas vers l'occident de la cité de David. Ézéchias réussit dans toutes ses entreprises. (Ⅱ)

- αὐτὸς Εζεκιας ἐνέφραξεν τὴν ἔξοδον του̃ ὕδατος Γιων τὸ ἄνω καὶ κατηύθυνεν αὐτὰ κάτω πρὸς λίβα τη̃ς πόλεως Δαυιδ καὶ εὐοδώθη Εζεκιας ἐν πα̃σι τοι̃ς ἔργοις αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Ipse est Ezechias, qui obturavit superiorem fontem aquarum Gihon, et avertit eas subter ad occidentem urbis David : in omnibus operibus suis fecit prospere quæ voluit. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 30 ׃32 והוא יחזקיהו סתם את מוצא מימי גיחון העליון ויישרם למטה מערבה לעיר דויד ויצלח יחזקיהו בכל מעשהו ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 31

Howbeit in the business of the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, who sent unto him to enquire of the wonder that was done in the land, God left him, to try him, that he might know all that was in his heart.

- Cependant, lorsque les chefs de Babylone envoyèrent des messagers auprès de lui pour s'informer du prodige qui avait eu lieu dans le pays, Dieu l'abandonna pour l'éprouver, afin de connaître tout ce qui était dans son coeur. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ οὕτως τοι̃ς πρεσβευται̃ς τω̃ν ἀρχόντων ἀπὸ Βαβυλω̃νος τοι̃ς ἀποσταλει̃σιν πρὸς αὐτὸν πυθέσθαι παρ' αὐτου̃ τὸ τέρας ὃ ἐγένετο ἐπὶ τη̃ς γη̃ς καὶ ἐγκατέλιπεν αὐτὸν κύριος του̃ πειράσαι αὐτὸν εἰδέναι τὰ ἐν τη̨̃ καρδία̨ αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Attamen in legatione principum Babylonis, qui missi fuerant ad eum ut interrogarent de portento quod acciderat super terram, dereliquit eum Deus ut tentaretur, et nota fierent omnia quæ erant in corde ejus. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 31 ׃32 וכן במליצי שרי בבל המשלחים עליו לדרש המופת אשר היה בארץ עזבו האלהים לנסותו לדעת כל בלבבו ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 32

Now the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and his goodness, behold, they are written in the vision of Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, and in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

- Le reste des actions d'Ézéchias, et ses oeuvres de piété, cela est écrit dans la vision du prophète Ésaïe, fils d'Amots, dans le livre des rois de Juda et d'Israël. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ τὰ κατάλοιπα τω̃ν λόγων Εζεκιου καὶ τὸ ἔλεος αὐτου̃ ἰδοὺ γέγραπται ἐν τη̨̃ προφητεία̨ Ησαιου υἱου̃ Αμως του̃ προφήτου καὶ ἐπὶ βιβλίου βασιλέων Ιουδα καὶ Ισραηλ (Ⅲ)

- Reliqua autem sermonum Ezechiæ, et misericordiarum ejus, scripta sunt in visione Isaiæ filii Amos prophetæ, et in libro regum Juda et Israël. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 32 ׃32 ויתר דברי יחזקיהו וחסדיו הנם כתובים בחזון ישעיהו בן אמוץ הנביא על ספר מלכי יהודה וישראל ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 33

And Hezekiah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the chiefest of the sepulchres of the sons of David: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem did him honor at his death. And Manasseh his son reigned in his stead.

- Ézéchias se coucha avec ses pères, et on l'enterra dans le lieu le plus élevé des sépulcres des fils de David; tout Juda et les habitants de Jérusalem lui rendirent honneur à sa mort. Et Manassé, son fils, régna à sa place. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐκοιμήθη Εζεκιας μετὰ τω̃ν πατέρων αὐτου̃ καὶ ἔθαψαν αὐτὸν ἐν ἀναβάσει τάφων υἱω̃ν Δαυιδ καὶ δόξαν καὶ τιμὴν ἔδωκαν αὐτω̨̃ ἐν τω̨̃ θανάτω̨ αὐτου̃ πα̃ς Ιουδα καὶ οἱ κατοικου̃ντες ἐν Ιερουσαλημ καὶ ἐβασίλευσεν Μανασσης υἱὸς αὐτου̃ ἀντ' αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Dormivitque Ezechias cum patribus suis, et sepelierunt eum super sepulchra filiorum David : et celebravit ejus exequias universus Juda, et omnes habitatores Jerusalem : regnavitque Manasses filius ejus pro eo. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 33 ׃32 וישכב יחזקיהו עם אבתיו ויקברהו במעלה קברי בני דויד וכבוד עשו לו במותו כל יהודה וישבי ירושלם וימלך מנשה בנו תחתיו פ‬ (Ⅴ)
