3. 1  
After these things did king Ahasuerus promote Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him, and set his seat above all the princes that were with him.
- Après ces choses, le roi Assuérus fit monter au pouvoir Haman, fils d'Hammedatha, l'Agaguite; il l'éleva en dignité et plaça son siège au-dessus de ceux de tous les chefs qui étaient auprès de lui. (Ⅱ)
- Post hæc rex Assuerus exaltavit Aman filium Amadathi, qui erat de stirpe Agag : et posuit solium ejus super omnes principes quos habebat. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 1  ׃3   אחר הדברים האלה גדל המלך אחשורוש את המן בן המדתא האגגי וינשאהו וישם את כסאו מעל כל השרים אשר אתו ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 2  
And all the king's servants, that were in the king's gate, bowed, and reverenced Haman: for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence.
- Tous les serviteurs du roi, qui se tenaient à la porte du roi, fléchissaient le genou et se prosternaient devant Haman, car tel était l'ordre du roi à son égard. Mais Mardochée ne fléchissait point le genou et ne se prosternait point. (Ⅱ)
- Cunctique servi regis, qui in foribus palatii versabantur, flectebant genua, et adorabant Aman : sic enim præceperat eis imperator : solus Mardochæus non flectebat genu, neque adorabat eum. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 2  ׃3   וכל עבדי המלך אשר בשער המלך כרעים ומשתחוים להמן כי כן צוה לו המלך ומרדכי לא יכרע ולא ישתחוה ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 3  
Then the king's servants, which were in the king's gate, said unto Mordecai, Why transgressest thou the king's commandment?
- Et les serviteurs du roi, qui se tenaient à la porte du roi, dirent à Mardochée: Pourquoi transgresses-tu l'ordre du roi? (Ⅱ)
- Cui dixerunt pueri regis, qui ad fores palatii præsidebant : Cur præter ceteros non observas mandatum regis ? (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 3  ׃3   ויאמרו עבדי המלך אשר בשער המלך למרדכי מדוע אתה עובר את מצות המלך ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 4  
Now it came to pass, when they spake daily unto him, and he hearkened not unto them, that they told Haman, to see whether Mordecai's matters would stand: for he had told them that he was a Jew.
- Comme ils le lui répétaient chaque jour et qu'il ne les écoutait pas, ils en firent rapport à Haman, pour voir si Mardochée persisterait dans sa résolution; car il leur avait dit qu'il était Juif. (Ⅱ)
- Cumque hoc crebrius dicerent, et ille nollet audire, nuntiaverunt Aman, scire cupientes utrum perseveraret in sententia : dixerat enim eis se esse Judæum. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 4  ׃3   ויהי *באמרם **כאמרם אליו יום ויום ולא שמע אליהם ויגידו להמן לראות היעמדו דברי מרדכי כי הגיד להם אשר הוא יהודי ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 5  
And when Haman saw that Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence, then was Haman full of wrath.
- Et Haman vit que Mardochée ne fléchissait point le genou et ne se prosternait point devant lui. Il fut rempli de fureur; (Ⅱ)
- Quod cum audisset Aman, et experimento probasset quod Mardochæus non flecteret sibi genu, nec se adoraret, iratus est valde, (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 5  ׃3   וירא המן כי אין מרדכי כרע ומשתחוה לו וימלא המן חמה ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 6  
And he thought scorn to lay hands on Mordecai alone; for they had shewed him the people of Mordecai: wherefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews that were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even the people of Mordecai.
- mais il dédaigna de porter la main sur Mardochée seul, car on lui avait dit de quel peuple était Mardochée, et il voulut détruire le peuple de Mardochée, tous les Juifs qui se trouvaient dans tout le royaume d'Assuérus. (Ⅱ)
- et pro nihilo duxit in unum Mardochæum mittere manus suas : audierat enim quod esset gentis Judææ ; magisque voluit omnem Judæorum, qui erant in regno Assueri, perdere nationem.\ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 6  ׃3   ויבז בעיניו לשלח‪[U]‬ יד במרדכי לבדו כי הגידו לו את עם מרדכי ויבקש המן להשמיד את כל היהודים אשר בכל מלכות אחשורוש עם מרדכי ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 7  
In the first month, that is, the month Nisan, in the twelfth year of king Ahasuerus, they cast Pur, that is, the lot, before Haman from day to day, and from month to month, to the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar.
- Au premier mois, qui est le mois de Nisan, la douzième année du roi Assuérus, on jeta le pur, c'est-à-dire le sort, devant Haman, pour chaque jour et pour chaque mois, jusqu'au douzième mois, qui est le mois d'Adar. (Ⅱ)
- Mense primo (cujus vocabulum est Nisan), anno duodecimo regni Assueri, missa est sors in urnam, quæ hebraice dicitur phur, coram Aman, quo die et quo mense gens Judæorum deberet interfici : et exivit mensis duodecimus, qui vocatur Adar. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 7  ׃3   בחדש הראשון הוא חדש ניסן בשנת שתים עשרה למלך אחשורוש הפיל פור הוא הגורל לפני המן מיום ליום ומחדש לחדש שנים עשר הוא חדש אדר ס‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 8  
And Haman said unto king Ahasuerus, There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of thy kingdom; and their laws are diverse from all people; neither keep they the king's laws: therefore it is not for the king's profit to suffer them.
- Alors Haman dit au roi Assuérus: Il y a dans toutes les provinces de ton royaume un peuple dispersé et à part parmi les peuples, ayant des lois différentes de celles de tous les peuples et n'observant point les lois du roi. Il n'est pas dans l'intérêt du roi de le laisser en repos. (Ⅱ)
- Dixitque Aman regi Assuero : Est populus per omnes provincias regni tui dispersus, et a se mutuo separatus, novis utens legibus et cæremoniis, insuper et regis scita contemnens : et optime nosti quod non expediat regno tuo ut insolescat per licentiam. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 8  ׃3   ויאמר המן למלך אחשורוש ישנו עם אחד מפזר ומפרד בין העמים בכל מדינות מלכותך ודתיהם שנות מכל עם ואת דתי המלך אינם עשים ולמלך אין שוה להניחם ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 9  
If it please the king, let it be written that they may be destroyed: and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver to the hands of those that have the charge of the business, to bring it into the king's treasuries.
- Si le roi le trouve bon, qu'on écrive l'ordre de les faire périr; et je pèserai dix mille talents d'argent entre les mains des fonctionnaires, pour qu'on les porte dans le trésor du roi. (Ⅱ)
- Si tibi placet, decerne, ut pereat, et decem millia talentorum appendam arcariis gazæ tuæ. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 9  ׃3   אם על המלך טוב יכתב לאבדם ועשרת אלפים ככר כסף אשקול על ידי עשי המלאכה להביא אל גנזי המלך ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 10  
And the king took his ring from his hand, and gave it unto Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the Jews' enemy.
- Le roi ôta son anneau de la main, et le remit à Haman, fils d'Hammedatha, l'Agaguite, ennemi des Juifs. (Ⅱ)
- Tulit ergo rex annulum, quo utebatur, de manu sua, et dedit eum Aman filio Amadathi de progenie Agag, hosti Judæorum, (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 10 ׃3   ויסר המלך את טבעתו מעל ידו ויתנה להמן בן המדתא האגגי צרר היהודים ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 11  
And the king said unto Haman, The silver is given to thee, the people also, to do with them as it seemeth good to thee.
- Et le roi dit à Haman: L'argent t'est donné, et ce peuple aussi; fais-en ce que tu voudras. (Ⅱ)
- dixitque ad eum : Argentum, quod tu polliceris, tuum sit ; de populo age quod tibi placet. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 11 ׃3   ויאמר המלך להמן הכסף נתון לך והעם לעשות בו כטוב בעיניך ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 12  
Then were the king's scribes called on the thirteenth day of the first month, and there was written according to all that Haman had commanded unto the king's lieutenants, and to the governors that were over every province, and to the rulers of every people of every province according to the writing thereof, and to every people after their language; in the name of king Ahasuerus was it written, and sealed with the king's ring.
- Les secrétaires du roi furent appelés le treizième jour du premier mois, et l'on écrivit, suivant tout ce qui fut ordonné par Haman, aux satrapes du roi, aux gouverneurs de chaque province et aux chefs de chaque peuple, à chaque province selon son écriture et à chaque peuple selon sa langue. Ce fut au nom du roi Assuérus que l'on écrivit, et on scella avec l'anneau du roi. (Ⅱ)
- Vocatique sunt scribæ regis mense primo Nisan, tertiadecima die ejusdem mensis : et scriptum est, ut jusserat Aman, ad omnes satrapas regis, et judices provinciarum, diversarumque gentium, ut quæque gens legere poterat et audire pro varietate linguarum ex nomine regis Assueri : et litteræ signatæ ipsius annulo (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 12 ׃3   ויקראו ספרי המלך בחדש הראשון בשלושה עשר יום בו ויכתב ככל אשר צוה המן אל אחשדרפני המלך ואל הפחות אשר על מדינה ומדינה ואל שרי עם ועם מדינה ומדינה ככתבה ועם ועם כלשונו בשם המלך אחשורש נכתב ונחתם בטבעת המלך ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 13  
And the letters were sent by posts into all the king's provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to cause to perish, all Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day, even upon the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, and to take the spoil of them for a prey.
- Les lettres furent envoyées par les courriers dans toutes les provinces du roi, pour qu'on détruisît, qu'on tuât et qu'on fît périr tous les Juifs, jeunes et vieux, petits enfants et femmes, en un seul jour, le treizième du douzième mois, qui est le mois d'Adar, et pour que leurs biens fussent livrés au pillage. (Ⅱ)
- missæ sunt per cursores regis ad universas provincias, ut occiderent atque delerent omnes Judæos, a puero usque ad senem, parvulos et mulieres, uno die, hoc est tertiodecimo mensis duodecimi, qui vocatur Adar ; et bona eorum diriperent. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 13 ׃3   ונשלוח ספרים ביד הרצים אל כל מדינות המלך להשמיד להרג ולאבד את כל היהודים מנער ועד זקן טף ונשים ביום אחד בשלושה עשר לחדש שנים עשר הוא חדש אדר ושללם לבוז ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 14  
The copy of the writing for a commandment to be given in every province was published unto all people, that they should be ready against that day.
- Ces lettres renfermaient une copie de l'édit qui devait être publié dans chaque province, et invitaient tous les peuples à se tenir prêts pour ce jour-là. (Ⅱ)
- Summa autem epistolarum hæc fuit, ut omnes provinciæ scirent, et pararent se ad prædictam diem. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 14 ׃3   פתשגן הכתב להנתן דת בכל מדינה ומדינה גלוי לכל העמים להיות עתדים ליום הזה ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 15  
The posts went out, being hastened by the king's commandment, and the decree was given in Shushan the palace. And the king and Haman sat down to drink; but the city Shushan was perplexed.
- Les courriers partirent en toute hâte, d'après l'ordre du roi. L'édit fut aussi publié dans Suse, la capitale; et tandis que le roi et Haman étaient à boire, la ville de Suse était dans la consternation. (Ⅱ)
- Festinabant cursores, qui missi erant, regis imperium explere. Statimque in Susan pependit edictum, rege et Aman celebrante convivium, et cunctis Judæis, qui in urbe erant, flentibus. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 15 ׃3   הרצים יצאו דחופים בדבר המלך והדת נתנה בשושן הבירה והמלך והמן ישבו לשתות והעיר שושן נבוכה פ‬ (Ⅴ)
