- C'était du temps d'Assuérus, de cet Assuérus qui régnait depuis l'Inde jusqu'en Éthiopie sur cent vingt-sept provinces; (Ⅱ)
- Now it came to pass in the days of Ahasuerus, (this is Ahasuerus which reigned, from India even unto Ethiopia, over an hundred and seven and twenty provinces:) (Ⅲ)
- In diebus Assueri, qui regnavit ab India usque Æthiopiam super centum viginti septem provincias, (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 1  ׃1   ויהי בימי אחשורוש הוא אחשורוש המלך מהדו ועד כוש שבע ועשרים ומאה מדינה ‬ (Ⅴ)

- et le roi Assuérus était alors assis sur son trône royal à Suse, dans la capitale. (Ⅱ)
- That in those days, when the king Ahasuerus sat on the throne of his kingdom, which was in Shushan the palace, (Ⅲ)
- quando sedit in solio regni sui, Susan civitas regni ejus exordium fuit. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 2  ׃1   בימים ההם כשבת המלך אחשורוש על כסא מלכותו אשר בשושן הבירה ‬ (Ⅴ)

- La troisième année de son règne, il fit un festin à tous ses princes et à ses serviteurs; les commandants de l'armée des Perses et des Mèdes, les grands et les chefs des provinces furent réunis en sa présence. (Ⅱ)
- In the third year of his reign, he made a feast unto all his princes and his servants; the power of Persia and Media, the nobles and princes of the provinces, being before him: (Ⅲ)
- Tertio igitur anno imperii sui fecit grande convivium cunctis principibus et pueris suis, fortissimis Persarum, et Medorum inclytis, et præfectis provinciarum coram se, (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 3  ׃1   בשנת שלוש למלכו עשה משתה לכל שריו ועבדיו חיל פרס ומדי הפרתמים ושרי המדינות לפניו ‬ (Ⅴ)

- Il montra la splendide richesse de son royaume et l'éclatante magnificence de sa grandeur pendant nombre de jours, pendant cent quatre-vingts jours. (Ⅱ)
- When he shewed the riches of his glorious kingdom and the honour of his excellent majesty many days, even an hundred and fourscore days. (Ⅲ)
- ut ostenderet divitias gloriæ regni sui, ac magnitudinem atque jactantiam potentiæ suæ, multo tempore, centum videlicet et octoginta diebus. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 4  ׃1   בהראתו את עשר כבוד מלכותו ואת יקר תפארת גדולתו ימים רבים שמונים ומאת יום ‬ (Ⅴ)

- Lorsque ces jours furent écoulés, le roi fit pour tout le peuple qui se trouvait à Suse, la capitale, depuis le plus grand jusqu'au plus petit, un festin qui dura sept jours, dans la cour du jardin de la maison royale. (Ⅱ)
- And when these days were expired, the king made a feast unto all the people that were present in Shushan the palace, both unto great and small, seven days, in the court of the garden of the king's palace; (Ⅲ)
- Cumque implerentur dies convivii, invitavit omnem populum, qui inventus est in Susan, a maximo usque ad minimum : et jussit septem diebus convivium præparari in vestibulo horti, et nemoris quod regio cultu et manu consitum erat. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 5  ׃1   ובמלואת הימים האלה עשה המלך לכל העם הנמצאים בשושן הבירה למגדול ועד קטן משתה שבעת ימים בחצר גנת ביתן המלך ‬ (Ⅴ)

- Des tentures blanches, vertes et bleues, étaient attachées par des cordons de byssus et de pourpre à des anneaux d'argent et à des colonnes de marbre. Des lits d'or et d'argent reposaient sur un pavé de porphyre, de marbre, de nacre et de pierres noires. (Ⅱ)
- Where were white, green, and blue, hangings, fastened with cords of fine linen and purple to silver rings and pillars of marble: the beds were of gold and silver, upon a pavement of red, and blue, and white, and black, marble. (Ⅲ)
- Et pendebant ex omni parte tentoria ærii coloris et carbasini ac hyacinthini, sustentata funibus byssinis atque purpureis, qui eburneis circulis inserti erant, et columnis marmoreis fulciebantur. Lectuli quoque aurei et argentei, super pavimentum smaragdino et pario stratum lapide, dispositi erant : quod mira varietate pictura decorabat. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 6  ׃1   חור כרפס ותכלת אחוז בחבלי בוץ וארגמן על גלילי כסף ועמודי שש מטות זהב וכסף על רצפת בהט ושש ודר וסחרת ‬ (Ⅴ)

- On servait à boire dans des vases d'or, de différentes espèces, et il y avait abondance de vin royal, grâce à la libéralité du roi. (Ⅱ)
- And they gave them drink in vessels of gold, (the vessels being diverse one from another,) and royal wine in abundance, according to the state of the king. (Ⅲ)
- Bibebant autem qui invitati erant aureis poculis, et aliis atque aliis vasis cibi inferebantur. Vinum quoque, ut magnificentia regia dignum erat, abundans, et præcipuum ponebatur. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 7  ׃1   והשקות בכלי זהב וכלים מכלים שונים ויין מלכות רב כיד המלך ‬ (Ⅴ)

- Mais on ne forçait personne à boire, car le roi avait ordonné à tous les gens de sa maison de se conformer à la volonté de chacun. (Ⅱ)
- And the drinking was according to the law; none did compel: for so the king had appointed to all the officers of his house, that they should do according to every man's pleasure. (Ⅲ)
- Nec erat qui nolentes cogeret ad bibendum, sed sicut rex statuerat, præponens mensis singulos de principibus suis ut sumeret unusquisque quod vellet. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 8  ׃1   והשתיה כדת אין אנס כי כן יסד המלך על כל רב ביתו לעשות כרצון איש ואיש ‬ (Ⅴ)

- La reine Vasthi fit aussi un festin pour les femmes dans la maison royale du roi Assuérus. (Ⅱ)
- Also Vashti the queen made a feast for the women in the royal house which belonged to king Ahasuerus. (Ⅲ)
- Vasthi quoque regina fecit convivium feminarum in palatio, ubi rex Assuerus manere consueverat.\ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 9  ׃1   גם ושתי המלכה עשתה משתה נשים בית המלכות אשר למלך אחשורוש ס‬ (Ⅴ)

- Le septième jour, comme le coeur du roi était réjoui par le vin, il ordonna à Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, Abagtha, Zéthar et Carcas, les sept eunuques qui servaient devant le roi Assuérus, (Ⅱ)
- On the seventh day, when the heart of the king was merry with wine, he commanded Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, and Abagtha, Zethar, and Carcas, the seven chamberlains that served in the presence of Ahasuerus the king, (Ⅲ)
- Itaque die septimo, cum rex esset hilarior, et post nimiam potationem incaluisset mero, præcepit Maumam, et Bazatha, et Harbona, et Bagatha, et Abgatha, et Zethar, et Charchas, septem eunuchis qui in conspectu ejus ministrabant, (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 10 ׃1   ביום השביעי כטוב לב המלך ביין אמר למהומן בזתא חרבונא בגתא ואבגתא זתר וכרכס שבעת הסריסים המשרתים את פני המלך אחשורוש ‬ (Ⅴ)

- d'amener en sa présence la reine Vasthi, avec la couronne royale, pour montrer sa beauté aux peuples et aux grands, car elle était belle de figure. (Ⅱ)
- To bring Vashti the queen before the king with the crown royal, to shew the people and the princes her beauty: for she was fair to look on. (Ⅲ)
- ut introducerent reginam Vasthi coram rege, posito super caput ejus diademate, ut ostenderet cunctis populis et principibus pulchritudinem illius : erat enim pulchra valde. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 11 ׃1   להביא את ושתי המלכה לפני המלך בכתר מלכות להראות העמים והשרים את יפיה כי טובת מראה היא ‬ (Ⅴ)

- Mais la reine Vasthi refusa de venir, quand elle reçut par les eunuques l'ordre du roi. Et le roi fut très irrité, il fut enflammé de colère. (Ⅱ)
- But the queen Vashti refused to come at the king's commandment by his chamberlains: therefore was the king very wroth, and his anger burned in him. (Ⅲ)
- Quæ renuit, et ad regis imperium quod per eunuchos mandaverat, venire contempsit. Unde iratus rex, et nimio furore succensus, (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 12 ׃1   ותמאן המלכה ושתי לבוא בדבר המלך אשר ביד הסריסים ויקצף המלך מאד וחמתו בערה בו ‬ (Ⅴ)

- Alors le roi s'adressa aux sages qui avaient la connaissance des temps. Car ainsi se traitaient les affaires du roi, devant tous ceux qui connaissaient les lois et le droit. (Ⅱ)
- Then the king said to the wise men, which knew the times, (for so was the king's manner toward all that knew law and judgment: (Ⅲ)
- interrogavit sapientes, qui ex more regio semper ei aderant, et illorum faciebat cuncta consilio, scientium leges, ac jura majorum (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 13 ׃1   ויאמר המלך לחכמים ידעי העתים כי כן דבר המלך לפני כל ידעי דת ודין ‬ (Ⅴ)

- Il avait auprès de lui Carschena, Schéthar, Admatha, Tarsis, Mérès, Marsena, Memucan, sept princes de Perse et de Médie, qui voyaient la face du roi et qui occupaient le premier rang dans le royaume. (Ⅱ)
- And the next unto him was Carshena, Shethar, Admatha, Tarshish, Meres, Marsena, and Memucan, the seven princes of Persia and Media, which saw the king's face, and which sat the first in the kingdom;) (Ⅲ)
- (erant autem primi et proximi, Charsena, et Sethar, et Admatha, et Tharsis, et Mares, et Marsana, et Mamuchan, septem duces Persarum, atque Medorum, qui videbant faciem regis, et primi post eum residere soliti erant) : (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 14 ׃1   והקרב אליו‪[V]‬ כרשנא שתר אדמתא תרשיש מרס מרסנא ממוכן שבעת שרי פרס ומדי ראי פני המלך הישבים ראשנה במלכות ‬ (Ⅴ)

- Quelle loi, dit-il, faut-il appliquer à la reine Vasthi, pour n'avoir point exécuté ce que le roi Assuérus lui a ordonné par les eunuques? (Ⅱ)
- What shall we do unto the queen Vashti according to law, because she hath not performed the commandment of the king Ahasuerus by the chamberlains? (Ⅲ)
- cui sententiæ Vasthi regina subjaceret, quæ Assueri regis imperium, quod per eunuchos mandaverat, facere noluisset. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 15 ׃1   כדת מה לעשות במלכה ושתי על אשר לא עשתה את מאמר המלך אחשורוש ביד הסריסים ס‬ (Ⅴ)

- Memucan répondit devant le roi et les princes: Ce n'est pas seulement à l'égard du roi que la reine Vasthi a mal agi; c'est aussi envers tous les princes et tous les peuples qui sont dans toutes les provinces du roi Assuérus. (Ⅱ)
- And Memucan answered before the king and the princes, Vashti the queen hath not done wrong to the king only, but also to all the princes, and to all the people that are in all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus. (Ⅲ)
- Responditque Mamuchan, audiente rege atque principibus : Non solum regem læsit regina Vasthi, sed et omnes populos et principes qui sunt in cunctis provinciis regis Assueri. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 16 ׃1   ויאמר *מומכן **ממוכן לפני המלך והשרים לא על המלך לבדו עותה ושתי המלכה כי על כל השרים ועל כל העמים אשר בכל מדינות המלך אחשורוש ‬ (Ⅴ)

- Car l'action de la reine parviendra à la connaissance de toutes les femmes, et les portera à mépriser leurs maris; elles diront: Le roi Assuérus avait ordonné qu'on amenât en sa présence la reine Vasthi, et elle n'y est pas allée. (Ⅱ)
- For this deed of the queen shall come abroad unto all women, so that they shall despise their husbands in their eyes, when it shall be reported, The king Ahasuerus commanded Vashti the queen to be brought in before him, but she came not. (Ⅲ)
- Egredietur enim sermo reginæ ad omnes mulieres, ut contemnant viros suos, et dicant : Rex Assuerus jussit ut regina Vasthi intraret ad eum, et illa noluit. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 17 ׃1   כי יצא דבר המלכה על כל הנשים להבזות בעליהן בעיניהן באמרם המלך אחשורוש אמר להביא את ושתי המלכה לפניו ולא באה ‬ (Ⅴ)

- Et dès ce jour les princesses de Perse et de Médie qui auront appris l'action de la reine la rapporteront à tous les chefs du roi; de là beaucoup de mépris et de colère. (Ⅱ)
- Likewise shall the ladies of Persia and Media say this day unto all the king's princes, which have heard of the deed of the queen. Thus shall there arise too much contempt and wrath. (Ⅲ)
- Atque hoc exemplo omnes principum conjuges Persarum atque Medorum parvipendent imperia maritorum : unde regis justa est indignatio. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 18 ׃1   והיום הזה תאמרנה שרות פרס ומדי אשר שמעו את דבר המלכה לכל שרי המלך וכדי בזיון וקצף ‬ (Ⅴ)

- Si le roi le trouve bon, qu'on publie de sa part et qu'on inscrive parmi les lois des Perses et des Mèdes, avec défense de la transgresser, une ordonnance royale d'après laquelle Vasthi ne paraîtra plus devant le roi Assuérus et le roi donnera la dignité de reine à une autre qui soit meilleure qu'elle. (Ⅱ)
- If it please the king, let there go a royal commandment from him, and let it be written among the laws of the Persians and the Medes, that it be not altered, That Vashti come no more before king Ahasuerus; and let the king give her royal estate unto another that is better than she. (Ⅲ)
- Si tibi placet, egrediatur edictum a facie tua, et scribatur juxta legem Persarum atque Medorum, quam præteriri illicitum est, ut nequaquam ultra Vasthi ingrediatur ad regem, sed regnum illius altera, quæ melior est illa, accipiat. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 19 ׃1   אם על המלך טוב יצא דבר מלכות מלפניו ויכתב בדתי פרס ומדי ולא יעבור אשר לא תבוא ושתי לפני המלך אחשורוש ומלכותה יתן המלך לרעותה הטובה ממנה ‬ (Ⅴ)

- L'édit du roi sera connu dans tout son royaume, quelque grand qu'il soit, et toutes les femmes rendront honneur à leurs maris, depuis le plus grand jusqu'au plus petit. (Ⅱ)
- And when the king's decree which he shall make shall be published throughout all his empire, (for it is great,) all the wives shall give to their husbands honour, both to great and small. (Ⅲ)
- Et hoc in omne (quod latissimum est) provinciarum tuarum divulgetur imperium, et cunctæ uxores, tam majorum quam minorum, deferant maritis suis honorem. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 20 ׃1   ונשמע פתגם המלך אשר יעשה בכל מלכותו כי רבה היא וכל הנשים יתנו יקר לבעליהן למגדול ועד קטן ‬ (Ⅴ)

- Cet avis fut approuvé du roi et des princes, et le roi agit d'après la parole de Memucan. (Ⅱ)
- And the saying pleased the king and the princes; and the king did according to the word of Memucan: (Ⅲ)
- Placuit consilium ejus regi et principibus : fecitque rex juxta consilium Mamuchan, (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 21 ׃1   וייטב הדבר בעיני המלך והשרים ויעש המלך כדבר ממוכן ‬ (Ⅴ)

- Il envoya des lettres à toutes les provinces du royaume, à chaque province selon son écriture et à chaque peuple selon sa langue; elles portaient que tout homme devait être le maître dans sa maison, et qu'il parlerait la langue de son peuple. (Ⅱ)
- For he sent letters into all the king's provinces, into every province according to the writing thereof, and to every people after their language, that every man should bear rule in his own house, and that it should be published according to the language of every people. (Ⅲ)
- et misit epistolas ad universas provincias regni sui, ut quæque gens audire et legere poterat, diversis linguis et litteris, esse viros principes ac majores in domibus suis : et hoc per cunctos populos divulgari. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 22 ׃1   וישלח ספרים אל כל מדינות המלך אל מדינה ומדינה ככתבה ואל עם ועם כלשונו להיות כל איש שרר בביתו ומדבר כלשון עמו פ‬ (Ⅴ)
