11. 1  
Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said,
- Tsophar de Naama prit la parole et dit: (Ⅱ)
- ὑπολαβὼν δὲ Σωφαρ ὁ Μιναι̃ος λέγει (Ⅲ)
- Respondens autem Sophar Naamathites, dixit : (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 1  ׃11  ויען צפר הנעמתי ויאמר ‬ (Ⅴ)
11. 2  
Should not the multitude of words be answered? and should a man full of talk be justified?
- Cette multitude de paroles ne trouvera-t-elle point de réponse, Et suffira-t-il d'être un discoureur pour avoir raison? (Ⅱ)
- ὁ τὰ πολλὰ λέγων καὶ ἀντακούσεται ἢ καὶ ὁ εὔλαλος οἴεται εἰ̃ναι δίκαιος εὐλογημένος γεννητὸς γυναικὸς ὀλιγόβιος (Ⅲ)
- Numquid qui multa loquitur, non et audiet ?/ aut vir verbosus justificabitur ?/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 2  ׃11  הרב דברים לא יענה ואם איש שפתים יצדק ‬ (Ⅴ)
11. 3  
Should thy lies make men hold their peace? and when thou mockest, shall no man make thee ashamed?
- Tes vains propos feront-ils taire les gens? Te moqueras-tu, sans que personne te confonde? (Ⅱ)
- μὴ πολὺς ἐν ῥήμασιν γίνου οὐ γάρ ἐστιν ὁ ἀντικρινόμενός σοι (Ⅲ)
- Tibi soli tacebunt homines ?/ et cum ceteros irriseris, a nullo confutaberis ?/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 3  ׃11  בדיך מתים יחרישו ותלעג ואין מכלם ‬ (Ⅴ)
11. 4  
For thou hast said, My doctrine is pure, and I am clean in thine eyes.
- Tu dis: Ma manière de voir est juste, Et je suis pur à tes yeux. (Ⅱ)
- μὴ γὰρ λέγε ὅτι καθαρός εἰμι τοι̃ς ἔργοις καὶ ἄμεμπτος ἐναντίον αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)
- Dixisti enim : Purus est sermo meus,/ et mundus sum in conspectu tuo./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 4  ׃11  ותאמר זך לקחי ובר הייתי בעיניך ‬ (Ⅴ)
11. 5  
But oh that God would speak, and open his lips against thee;
- Oh! si Dieu voulait parler, S'il ouvrait les lèvres pour te répondre, (Ⅱ)
- ἀλλὰ πω̃ς ἂν ὁ κύριος λαλήσαι πρὸς σέ καὶ ἀνοίξει χείλη αὐτου̃ μετὰ σου̃ (Ⅲ)
- Atque utinam Deus loqueretur tecum,/ et aperiret labia sua tibi,/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 5  ׃11  ואולם מי יתן אלוה דבר ויפתח שפתיו עמך ‬ (Ⅴ)
11. 6  
And that he would shew thee the secrets of wisdom, that they are double to that which is! Know therefore that God exacteth of thee less than thine iniquity deserveth.
- Et s'il te révélait les secrets de sa sagesse, De son immense sagesse, Tu verrais alors qu'il ne te traite pas selon ton iniquité. (Ⅱ)
- εἰ̃τα ἀναγγελει̃ σοι δύναμιν σοφίας ὅτι διπλου̃ς ἔσται τω̃ν κατὰ σέ καὶ τότε γνώση̨ ὅτι ἄξιά σοι ἀπέβη ἀπὸ κυρίου ὡ̃ν ἡμάρτηκας (Ⅲ)
- ut ostenderet tibi secreta sapientiæ,/ et quod multiplex esset lex ejus :/ et intelligeres quod multo minora exigaris ab eo/ quam meretur iniquitas tua !/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 6  ׃11  ויגד לך תעלמות חכמה כי כפלים לתושיה ודע כי ישה לך אלוה מעונך ‬ (Ⅴ)
11. 7  
Canst thou by searching find out God? canst thou find out the Almighty unto perfection?
- Prétends-tu sonder les pensées de Dieu, Parvenir à la connaissance parfaite du Tout Puissant? (Ⅱ)
- ἠ̃ ἴχνος κυρίου εὑρήσεις ἢ εἰς τὰ ἔσχατα ἀφίκου ἃ ἐποίησεν ὁ παντοκράτωρ (Ⅲ)
- Forsitan vestigia Dei comprehendes,/ et usque ad perfectum Omnipotentem reperies ?/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 7  ׃11  החקר אלוה תמצא אם עד תכלית שדי תמצא ‬ (Ⅴ)
11. 8  
It is as high as heaven; what canst thou do? deeper than hell; what canst thou know?
- Elle est aussi haute que les cieux: que feras-tu? Plus profonde que le séjour des morts: que sauras-tu? (Ⅱ)
- ὑψηλὸς ὁ οὐρανός καὶ τί ποιήσεις βαθύτερα δὲ τω̃ν ἐν ἅ̨δου τί οἰ̃δας (Ⅲ)
- Excelsior cælo est, et quid facies ?/ profundior inferno, et unde cognosces ?/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 8  ׃11  גבהי שמים מה תפעל עמקה משאול מה תדע ‬ (Ⅴ)
11. 9  
The measure thereof is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea.
- La mesure en est plus longue que la terre, Elle est plus large que la mer. (Ⅱ)
- ἢ μακρότερα μέτρου γη̃ς ἢ εὔρους θαλάσσης (Ⅲ)
- Longior terra mensura ejus,/ et latior mari./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 9  ׃11  ארכה מארץ מדה ורחבה מני ים ‬ (Ⅴ)
11. 10  
If he cut off, and shut up, or gather together, then who can hinder him?
- S'il passe, s'il saisit, S'il traîne à son tribunal, qui s'y opposera? (Ⅱ)
- ἐὰν δὲ καταστρέψη̨ τὰ πάντα τίς ἐρει̃ αὐτω̨̃ τί ἐποίησας (Ⅲ)
- Si subverterit omnia, vel in unum coarctaverit,/ quis contradicet ei ?/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 10 ׃11  אם יחלף ויסגיר ויקהיל ומי ישיבנו ‬ (Ⅴ)
11. 11  
For he knoweth vain men: he seeth wickedness also; will he not then consider it?
- Car il connaît les vicieux, Il voit facilement les coupables. (Ⅱ)
- αὐτὸς γὰρ οἰ̃δεν ἔργα ἀνόμων ἰδὼν δὲ ἄτοπα οὐ παρόψεται (Ⅲ)
- Ipse enim novit hominum vanitatem ;/ et videns iniquitatem, nonne considerat ?/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 11 ׃11  כי הוא ידע מתי שוא וירא און ולא יתבונן ‬ (Ⅴ)
11. 12  
For vain men would be wise, though man be born like a wild ass's colt.
- L'homme, au contraire, a l'intelligence d'un fou, Il est né comme le petit d'un âne sauvage. (Ⅱ)
- ἄνθρωπος δὲ ἄλλως νήχεται λόγοις βροτὸς δὲ γεννητὸς γυναικὸς ἴσα ὄνω̨ ἐρημίτη̨ (Ⅲ)
- Vir vanus in superbiam erigitur,/ et tamquam pullum onagri se liberum natum putat./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 12 ׃11  ואיש נבוב ילבב ועיר פרא אדם יולד ‬ (Ⅴ)
11. 13  
If thou prepare thine heart, and stretch out thine hands toward him;
- Pour toi, dirige ton coeur vers Dieu, Étends vers lui tes mains, (Ⅱ)
- εἰ γὰρ σὺ καθαρὰν ἔθου τὴν καρδίαν σου ὑπτιάζεις δὲ χει̃ρας πρὸς αὐτόν (Ⅲ)
- Tu autem firmasti cor tuum,/ et expandisti ad eum manus tuas./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 13 ׃11  אם אתה‪[1]‬ הכינות לבך ופרשת אליו כפך ‬ (Ⅴ)
11. 14  
If iniquity be in thine hand, put it far away, and let not wickedness dwell in thy tabernacles.
- Éloigne-toi de l'iniquité, Et ne laisse pas habiter l'injustice sous ta tente. (Ⅱ)
- εἰ ἄνομόν τί ἐστιν ἐν χερσίν σου πόρρω ποίησον αὐτὸ ἀπὸ σου̃ ἀδικία δὲ ἐν διαίτη̨ σου μὴ αὐλισθήτω (Ⅲ)
- Si iniquitatem quæ est in manu tua abstuleris a te,/ et non manserit in tabernaculo tuo injustitia,/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 14 ׃11  אם און בידך הרחיקהו ואל תשכן באהליך עולה ‬ (Ⅴ)
11. 15  
For then shalt thou lift up thy face without spot; yea, thou shalt be stedfast, and shalt not fear:
- Alors tu lèveras ton front sans tache, Tu seras ferme et sans crainte; (Ⅱ)
- οὕτως γὰρ ἀναλάμψει σου τὸ πρόσωπον ὥσπερ ὕδωρ καθαρόν ἐκδύση̨ δὲ ῥύπον καὶ οὐ μὴ φοβηθη̨̃ς (Ⅲ)
- tunc levare poteris faciem tuam absque macula ;/ et eris stabilis, et non timebis./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 15 ׃11  כי אז תשא פניך ממום והיית מצק ולא תירא ‬ (Ⅴ)
11. 16  
Because thou shalt forget thy misery, and remember it as waters that pass away:
- Tu oublieras tes souffrances, Tu t'en souviendras comme des eaux écoulées. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ τὸν κόπον ἐπιλήση̨ ὥσπερ κυ̃μα παρελθὸν καὶ οὐ πτοηθήση̨ (Ⅲ)
- Miseriæ quoque oblivisceris,/ et quasi aquarum quæ præterierunt recordaberis./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 16 ׃11  כי אתה עמל תשכח כמים עברו תזכר ‬ (Ⅴ)
11. 17  
And thine age shall be clearer than the noonday: thou shalt shine forth, thou shalt be as the morning.
- Tes jours auront plus d'éclat que le soleil à son midi, Tes ténèbres seront comme la lumière du matin, (Ⅱ)
- ἡ δὲ εὐχή σου ὥσπερ ἑωσφόρος ἐκ δὲ μεσημβρίας ἀνατελει̃ σοι ζωή (Ⅲ)
- Et quasi meridianus fulgor consurget tibi ad vesperam ;/ et cum te consumptum putaveris, orieris ut lucifer./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 17 ׃11  ומצהרים יקום חלד תעפה כבקר תהיה ‬ (Ⅴ)
11. 18  
And thou shalt be secure, because there is hope; yea, thou shalt dig about thee, and thou shalt take thy rest in safety.
- Tu seras plein de confiance, et ton attente ne sera plus vaine; Tu regarderas autour de toi, et tu reposeras en sûreté. (Ⅱ)
- πεποιθώς τε ἔση̨ ὅτι ἔστιν σοι ἐλπίς ἐκ δὲ μερίμνης καὶ φροντίδος ἀναφανει̃ταί σοι εἰρήνη (Ⅲ)
- Et habebis fiduciam, proposita tibi spe :/ et defossus securus dormies./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 18 ׃11  ובטחת כי יש תקוה וחפרת לבטח תשכב ‬ (Ⅴ)
11. 19  
Also thou shalt lie down, and none shall make thee afraid; yea, many shall make suit unto thee.
- Tu te coucheras sans que personne ne trouble, Et plusieurs caresseront ton visage. (Ⅱ)
- ἡσυχάσεις γάρ καὶ οὐκ ἔσται ὁ πολεμω̃ν σε μεταβαλόμενοι δὲ πολλοί σου δεηθήσονται (Ⅲ)
- Requiesces, et non erit qui te exterreat ;/ et deprecabuntur faciem tuam plurimi./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 19 ׃11  ורבצת ואין מחריד וחלו פניך רבים ‬ (Ⅴ)
11. 20  
But the eyes of the wicked shall fail, and they shall not escape, and their hope shall be as the giving up of the ghost.
- Mais les yeux des méchants seront consumés; Pour eux point de refuge; La mort, voilà leur espérance! (Ⅱ)
- σωτηρία δὲ αὐτοὺς ἀπολείψει ἡ γὰρ ἐλπὶς αὐτω̃ν ἀπώλεια ὀφθαλμοὶ δὲ ἀσεβω̃ν τακήσονται (Ⅲ)
- Oculi autem impiorum deficient,/ et effugium peribit ab eis :/ et spes illorum abominatio animæ.] (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 20 ׃11  ועיני רשעים תכלינה ומנוס אבד מנהם ותקותם מפח נפש פ‬ (Ⅴ)
