Addens quoque Eliu, hæc locutus est :
- Élihu continua et dit: (Ⅱ)
- Elihu also proceeded, and said, (Ⅲ)
- προσθεὶς δὲ Ελιους ἔτι λέγει (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 1  ׃36  ויסף אליהוא ויאמר ‬ (Ⅴ)
36. 2  
Sustine me paululum, et indicabo tibi :/ adhuc enim habeo quod pro Deo loquar./
- Attends un peu, et je vais poursuivre, Car j'ai des paroles encore pour la cause de Dieu. (Ⅱ)
- Suffer me a little, and I will shew thee that I have yet to speak on God's behalf. (Ⅲ)
- μει̃νόν με μικρὸν ἔτι ἵνα διδάξω σε ἔτι γὰρ ἐν ἐμοί ἐστιν λέξις (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 2  ׃36  כתר לי זעיר ואחוך כי עוד לאלוה מלים ‬ (Ⅴ)
36. 3  
Repetam scientiam meam a principio,/ et operatorem meum probabo justum./
- Je prendrai mes raisons de haut, Et je prouverai la justice de mon créateur. (Ⅱ)
- I will fetch my knowledge from afar, and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker. (Ⅲ)
- ἀναλαβὼν τὴν ἐπιστήμην μου μακρὰν ἔργοις δέ μου δίκαια ἐρω̃ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 3  ׃36  אשא דעי למרחוק ולפעלי אתן צדק ‬ (Ⅴ)
36. 4  
Vere enim absque mendacio sermones mei,/ et perfecta scientia probabitur tibi./
- Sois-en sûr, mes discours ne sont pas des mensonges, Mes sentiments devant toi sont sincères. (Ⅱ)
- For truly my words shall not be false: he that is perfect in knowledge is with thee. (Ⅲ)
- ἐπ' ἀληθείας καὶ οὐκ ἄδικα ῥήματα ἀδίκως συνίεις (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 4  ׃36  כי אמנם לא שקר מלי תמים דעות עמך ‬ (Ⅴ)
36. 5  
Deus potentes non abjicit,/ cum et ipse sit potens :/
- Dieu est puissant, mais il ne rejette personne; Il est puissant par la force de son intelligence. (Ⅱ)
- Behold, God is mighty, and despiseth not any: he is mighty in strength and wisdom. (Ⅲ)
- γίγνωσκε δὲ ὅτι ὁ κύριος οὐ μὴ ἀποποιήσηται τὸν ἄκακον δυνατὸς ἰσχύι καρδίας (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 5  ׃36  הן אל כביר ולא ימאס כביר כח לב ‬ (Ⅴ)
36. 6  
sed non salvat impios,/ et judicium pauperibus tribuit./
- Il ne laisse pas vivre le méchant, Et il fait droit aux malheureux. (Ⅱ)
- He preserveth not the life of the wicked: but giveth right to the poor. (Ⅲ)
- ἀσεβη̃ οὐ μὴ ζωοποιήσει καὶ κρίμα πτωχω̃ν δώσει (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 6  ׃36  לא יחיה רשע ומשפט עניים יתן ‬ (Ⅴ)
36. 7  
Non auferet a justo oculos suos :/ et reges in solio collocat in perpetuum,/ et illi eriguntur./
- Il ne détourne pas les yeux de dessus les justes, Il les place sur le trône avec les rois, Il les y fait asseoir pour toujours, afin qu'ils soient élevés. (Ⅱ)
- He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous: but with kings are they on the throne; yea, he doth establish them for ever, and they are exalted. (Ⅲ)
- οὐκ ἀφελει̃ ἀπὸ δικαίου ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτου̃ καὶ μετὰ βασιλέων εἰς θρόνον καὶ καθιει̃ αὐτοὺς εἰς νει̃κος καὶ ὑψωθήσονται (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 7  ׃36  לא יגרע מצדיק עיניו ואת מלכים לכסא וישיבם לנצח ויגבהו ‬ (Ⅴ)
36. 8  
Et si fuerint in catenis,/ et vinciantur funibus paupertatis,/
- Viennent-ils à tomber dans les chaînes, Sont-ils pris dans les liens de l'adversité, (Ⅱ)
- And if they be bound in fetters, and be holden in cords of affliction; (Ⅲ)
- καὶ εἰ πεπεδημένοι ἐν χειροπέδαις συσχεθήσονται ἐν σχοινίοις πενίας (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 8  ׃36  ואם אסורים בזקים ילכדון בחבלי עני ‬ (Ⅴ)
36. 9  
indicabit eis opera eorum,/ et scelera eorum, quia violenti fuerunt./
- Il leur dénonce leurs oeuvres, Leurs transgressions, leur orgueil; (Ⅱ)
- Then he sheweth them their work, and their transgressions that they have exceeded. (Ⅲ)
- καὶ ἀναγγελει̃ αὐτοι̃ς τὰ ἔργα αὐτω̃ν καὶ τὰ παραπτώματα αὐτω̃ν ὅτι ἰσχύσουσιν (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 9  ׃36  ויגד להם פעלם ופשעיהם כי יתגברו ‬ (Ⅴ)
36. 10  
Revelabit quoque aurem eorum, ut corripiat :/ et loquetur, ut revertantur ab iniquitate./
- Il les avertit pour leur instruction, Il les exhorte à se détourner de l'iniquité. (Ⅱ)
- He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity. (Ⅲ)
- ἀλλὰ του̃ δικαίου εἰσακούσεται καὶ εἰ̃πεν ὅτι ἐπιστραφήσονται ἐξ ἀδικίας (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 10 ׃36  ויגל אזנם למוסר ויאמר כי ישבון מאון ‬ (Ⅴ)
36. 11  
Si audierint et observaverint, complebunt dies suos in bono,/ et annos suos in gloria :/
- S'ils écoutent et se soumettent, Ils achèvent leurs jours dans le bonheur, Leurs années dans la joie. (Ⅱ)
- If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures. (Ⅲ)
- ἐὰν ἀκούσωσιν καὶ δουλεύσωσιν συντελέσουσιν τὰς ἡμέρας αὐτω̃ν ἐν ἀγαθοι̃ς καὶ τὰ ἔτη αὐτω̃ν ἐν εὐπρεπείαις (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 11 ׃36  אם ישמעו ויעבדו יכלו ימיהם בטוב ושניהם בנעימים ‬ (Ⅴ)
36. 12  
si autem non audierint,/ transibunt per gladium,/ et consumentur in stultitia./
- S'ils n'écoutent pas, ils périssent par le glaive, Ils expirent dans leur aveuglement. (Ⅱ)
- But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge. (Ⅲ)
- ἀσεβει̃ς δὲ οὐ διασώ̨ζει παρὰ τὸ μὴ βούλεσθαι εἰδέναι αὐτοὺς τὸν κύριον καὶ διότι νουθετούμενοι ἀνήκοοι ἠ̃σαν (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 12 ׃36  ואם לא ישמעו בשלח יעברו ויגועו כבלי דעת‪[1]‬ ‬ (Ⅴ)
36. 13  
Simulatores et callidi provocant iram Dei,/ neque clamabunt cum vincti fuerint./
- Les impies se livrent à la colère, Ils ne crient pas à Dieu quand il les enchaîne; (Ⅱ)
- But the hypocrites in heart heap up wrath: they cry not when he bindeth them. (Ⅲ)
- καὶ ὑποκριταὶ καρδία̨ τάξουσιν θυμόν οὐ βοήσονται ὅτι ἔδησεν αὐτούς (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 13 ׃36  וחנפי לב ישימו אף לא ישועו כי אסרם ‬ (Ⅴ)
36. 14  
Morietur in tempestate anima eorum,/ et vita eorum inter effeminatos./
- Ils perdent la vie dans leur jeunesse, Ils meurent comme les débauchés. (Ⅱ)
- They die in youth, and their life is among the unclean. (Ⅲ)
- ἀποθάνοι τοίνυν ἐν νεότητι ἡ ψυχὴ αὐτω̃ν ἡ δὲ ζωὴ αὐτω̃ν τιτρωσκομένη ὑπὸ ἀγγέλων (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 14 ׃36  תמת בנער נפשם וחיתם בקדשים ‬ (Ⅴ)
36. 15  
Eripiet de angustia sua pauperem,/ et revelabit in tribulatione aurem ejus./
- Mais Dieu sauve le malheureux dans sa misère, Et c'est par la souffrance qu'il l'avertit. (Ⅱ)
- He delivereth the poor in his affliction, and openeth their ears in oppression. (Ⅲ)
- ἀνθ' ὡ̃ν ἔθλιψαν ἀσθενη̃ καὶ ἀδύνατον κρίμα δὲ πραέων ἐκθήσει (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 15 ׃36  יחלץ עני בעניו ויגל בלחץ אזנם ‬ (Ⅴ)
36. 16  
Igitur salvabit te de ore angusto latissime,/ et non habente fundamentum subter se :/ requies autem mensæ tuæ erit plena pinguedine./
- Il te retirera aussi de la détresse, Pour te mettre au large, en pleine liberté, Et ta table sera chargée de mets succulents. (Ⅱ)
- Even so would he have removed thee out of the strait into a broad place, where there is no straitness; and that which should be set on thy table should be full of fatness. (Ⅲ)
- καὶ προσέτι ἠπάτησέν σε ἐκ στόματος ἐχθρου̃ ἄβυσσος κατάχυσις ὑποκάτω αὐτη̃ς καὶ κατέβη τράπεζά σου πλήρης πιότητος (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 16 ׃36  ואף הסיתך מפי צר רחב לא מוצק תחתיה ונחת שלחנך מלא דשן ‬ (Ⅴ)
36. 17  
Causa tua quasi impii judicata est :/ causam judiciumque recipies./
- Mais si tu défends ta cause comme un impie, Le châtiment est inséparable de ta cause. (Ⅱ)
- But thou hast fulfilled the judgment of the wicked: judgment and justice take hold on thee. (Ⅲ)
- οὐχ ὑστερήσει δὲ ἀπὸ δικαίων κρίμα (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 17 ׃36  ודין רשע מלאת דין ומשפט יתמכו ‬ (Ⅴ)
36. 18  
Non te ergo superet ira ut aliquem opprimas :/ nec multitudo donorum inclinet te./
- Que l'irritation ne t'entraîne pas à la moquerie, Et que la grandeur de la rançon ne te fasse pas dévier! (Ⅱ)
- Because there is wrath, beware lest he take thee away with his stroke: then a great ransom cannot deliver thee. (Ⅲ)
- θυμὸς δὲ ἐπ' ἀσεβει̃ς ἔσται δι' ἀσέβειαν δώρων ὡ̃ν ἐδέχοντο ἐπ' ἀδικίαις (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 18 ׃36  כי חמה פן יסיתך בספק ורב כפר אל יטך ‬ (Ⅴ)
36. 19  
Depone magnitudinem tuam absque tribulatione,/ et omnes robustos fortitudine./
- Tes cris suffiraient-ils pour te sortir d'angoisse, Et même toutes les forces que tu pourrais déployer? (Ⅱ)
- Will he esteem thy riches? no, not gold, nor all the forces of strength. (Ⅲ)
- μή σε ἐκκλινάτω ἑκὼν ὁ νου̃ς δεήσεως ἐν ἀνάγκη̨ ὄντων ἀδυνάτων καὶ πάντας τοὺς κραταιου̃ντας ἰσχύν (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 19 ׃36  היערך שועך‪[c]‬ לא בצר וכל מאמצי כח ‬ (Ⅴ)
36. 20  
Ne protrahas noctem,/ ut ascendant populi pro eis./
- Ne soupire pas après la nuit, Qui enlève les peuples de leur place. (Ⅱ)
- Desire not the night, when people are cut off in their place. (Ⅲ)
- μὴ ἐξελκύση̨ς τὴν νύκτα του̃ ἀναβη̃ναι λαοὺς ἀντ' αὐτω̃ν (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 20 ׃36  אל תשאף הלילה לעלות עמים תחתם ‬ (Ⅴ)
36. 21  
Cave ne declines ad iniquitatem :/ hanc enim cœpisti sequi post miseriam./
- Garde-toi de te livrer au mal, Car la souffrance t'y dispose. (Ⅱ)
- Take heed, regard not iniquity: for this hast thou chosen rather than affliction. (Ⅲ)
- ἀλλὰ φύλαξαι μὴ πράξη̨ς ἄτοπα ἐπὶ του̃τον γὰρ ἐξείλω ἀπὸ πτωχείας (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 21 ׃36  השמר אל תפן אל און כי על זה בחרת מעני ‬ (Ⅴ)
36. 22  
Ecce Deus excelsus in fortitudine sua,/ et nullus ei similis in legislatoribus./
- Dieu est grand par sa puissance; Qui saurait enseigner comme lui? (Ⅱ)
- Behold, God exalteth by his power: who teacheth like him? (Ⅲ)
- ἰδοὺ ὁ ἰσχυρὸς κραταιώσει ἐν ἰσχύι αὐτου̃ τίς γάρ ἐστιν κατ' αὐτὸν δυνάστης (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 22 ׃36  הן אל ישגיב בכחו מי כמהו מורה ‬ (Ⅴ)
36. 23  
Quis poterit scrutari vias ejus ?/ aut quis potest ei dicere : Operatus es iniquitatem ?/
- Qui lui prescrit ses voies? Qui ose dire: Tu fais mal? (Ⅱ)
- Who hath enjoined him his way? or who can say, Thou hast wrought iniquity? (Ⅲ)
- τίς δέ ἐστιν ὁ ἐτάζων αὐτου̃ τὰ ἔργα ἢ τίς ὁ εἴπας ἔπραξεν ἄδικα (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 23 ׃36  מי פקד עליו דרכו ומי אמר פעלת עולה ‬ (Ⅴ)
36. 24  
Memento quod ignores opus ejus,/ de quo cecinerunt viri./
- Souviens-toi d'exalter ses oeuvres, Que célèbrent tous les hommes. (Ⅱ)
- Remember that thou magnify his work, which men behold. (Ⅲ)
- μνήσθητι ὅτι μεγάλα ἐστὶν αὐτου̃ τὰ ἔργα ὡ̃ν ἠ̃ρξαν ἄνδρες (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 24 ׃36  זכר כי תשגיא פעלו אשר שררו אנשים ‬ (Ⅴ)
36. 25  
Omnes homines vident eum :/ unusquisque intuetur procul./
- Tout homme les contemple, Chacun les voit de loin. (Ⅱ)
- Every man may see it; man may behold it afar off. (Ⅲ)
- πα̃ς ἄνθρωπος εἰ̃δεν ἐν ἑαυτω̨̃ ὅσοι τιτρωσκόμενοί εἰσιν βροτοί (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 25 ׃36  כל אדם חזו בו אנוש יביט מרחוק ‬ (Ⅴ)
36. 26  
Ecce Deus magnus vincens scientiam nostram :/ numerus annorum ejus inæstimabilis./
- Dieu est grand, mais sa grandeur nous échappe, Le nombre de ses années est impénétrable. (Ⅱ)
- Behold, God is great, and we know him not, neither can the number of his years be searched out. (Ⅲ)
- ἰδοὺ ὁ ἰσχυρὸς πολύς καὶ οὐ γνωσόμεθα ἀριθμὸς ἐτω̃ν αὐτου̃ καὶ ἀπέραντος (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 26 ׃36  הן אל שגיא ולא נדע מספר שניו ולא חקר ‬ (Ⅴ)
36. 27  
Qui aufert stillas pluviæ,/ et effundit imbres ad instar gurgitum,/
- Il attire à lui les gouttes d'eau, Il les réduit en vapeur et forme la pluie; (Ⅱ)
- For he maketh small the drops of water: they pour down rain according to the vapour thereof: (Ⅲ)
- ἀριθμηταὶ δὲ αὐτω̨̃ σταγόνες ὑετου̃ καὶ ἐπιχυθήσονται ὑετω̨̃ εἰς νεφέλην (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 27 ׃36  כי יגרע נטפי מים יזקו מטר לאדו ‬ (Ⅴ)
36. 28  
qui de nubibus fluunt/ quæ prætexunt cuncta desuper./
- Les nuages la laissent couler, Ils la répandent sur la foule des hommes. (Ⅱ)
- Which the clouds do drop and distil upon man abundantly. (Ⅲ)
- ῥυήσονται παλαιώματα ἐσκίασεν δὲ νέφη ἐπὶ ἀμυθήτων βροτω̃ν (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 28 ׃36  אשר יזלו שחקים ירעפו עלי אדם רב ‬ (Ⅴ)
36. 29  
Si voluerit extendere nubes quasi tentorium suum,/
- Et qui comprendra le déchirement de la nuée, Le fracas de sa tente? (Ⅱ)
- Also can any understand the spreadings of the clouds, or the noise of his tabernacle? (Ⅲ)
- καὶ ἐὰν συνη̨̃ ἀπεκτάσεις νεφέλης ἰσότητα σκηνη̃ς αὐτου̃ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 29 ׃36  אף אם יבין מפרשי עב תשאות סכתו ‬ (Ⅴ)
36. 30  
et fulgurare lumine suo desuper,/ cardines quoque maris operiet./
- Voici, il étend autour de lui sa lumière, Et il se cache jusque dans les profondeurs de la mer. (Ⅱ)
- Behold, he spreadeth his light upon it, and covereth the bottom of the sea. (Ⅲ)
- ἰδοὺ ἐκτείνει ἐπ' αὐτὸν ηδω καὶ ῥιζώματα τη̃ς θαλάσσης ἐκάλυψεν (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 30 ׃36  הן פרש עליו אורו ושרשי הים כסה ‬ (Ⅴ)
36. 31  
Per hæc enim judicat populos,/ et dat escas multis mortalibus./
- Par ces moyens il juge les peuples, Et il donne la nourriture avec abondance. (Ⅱ)
- For by them judgeth he the people; he giveth meat in abundance. (Ⅲ)
- ἐν γὰρ αὐτοι̃ς κρινει̃ λαούς δώσει τροφὴν τω̨̃ ἰσχύοντι (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 31 ׃36  כי בם ידין עמים יתן אכל למכביר ‬ (Ⅴ)
36. 32  
In manibus abscondit lucem,/ et præcepit ei ut rursus adveniat./
- Il prend la lumière dans sa main, Il la dirige sur ses adversaires. (Ⅱ)
- With clouds he covereth the light; and commandeth it not to shine by the cloud that cometh betwixt. (Ⅲ)
- ἐπὶ χειρω̃ν ἐκάλυψεν φω̃ς καὶ ἐνετείλατο περὶ αὐτη̃ς ἐν ἀπαντω̃ντι (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 32 ׃36  על כפים כסה אור ויצו עליה במפגיע ‬ (Ⅴ)
36. 33  
Annuntiat de ea amico suo, quod possessio ejus sit,/ et ad eam possit ascendere.]
- Il s'annonce par un grondement; Les troupeaux pressentent son approche. (Ⅱ)
- The noise thereof sheweth concerning it, the cattle also concerning the vapour. (Ⅲ)
- ἀναγγελει̃ περὶ αὐτου̃ φίλον αὐτου̃ κτη̃σις καὶ περὶ ἀδικίας (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 33 ׃36  יגיד עליו רעו מקנה אף על עולה ‬ (Ⅴ)
