1 ׃5 קרא נא היש עונך ואל מי מקדשים תפנה
- Crie maintenant! Qui te répondra? Auquel des saints t'adresseras-tu? (Ⅱ) - Call now, if there be any that will answer thee; and to which of the saints wilt thou turn? (Ⅲ) - ἐπικάλεσαι δέ εἴ τίς σοι ὑπακούσεται ἢ εἴ τινα ἀγγέλων ἁγίων ὄψη̨ (Ⅳ) - Voca ergo, si est qui tibi respondeat,/ et ad aliquem sanctorum convertere./ (Ⅴ)

2 ׃5 כי לאויל יהרג כעש ופתה תמית קנאה
- L'insensé périt dans sa colère, Le fou meurt dans ses emportements. (Ⅱ) - For wrath killeth the foolish man, and envy slayeth the silly one. (Ⅲ) - καὶ γὰρ ἄφρονα ἀναιρει̃ ὀργή πεπλανημένον δὲ θανατοι̃ ζη̃λος (Ⅳ) - Vere stultum interficit iracundia,/ et parvulum occidit invidia./ (Ⅴ)

3 ׃5 אני ראיתי אויל משריש ואקוב נוהו פתאם
- J'ai vu l'insensé prendre racine; Puis soudain j'ai maudit sa demeure. (Ⅱ) - I have seen the foolish taking root: but suddenly I cursed his habitation. (Ⅲ) - ἐγὼ δὲ ἑώρακα ἄφρονας ῥίζαν βάλλοντας ἀλλ' εὐθέως ἐβρώθη αὐτω̃ν ἡ δίαιτα (Ⅳ) - Ego vidi stultum firma radice,/ et maledixi pulchritudini ejus statim./ (Ⅴ)

4 ׃5 ירחקו בניו מישע וידכאו בשער ואין מציל
- Plus de prospérité pour ses fils; Ils sont foulés à la porte, et personne qui les délivre! (Ⅱ) - His children are far from safety, and they are crushed in the gate, neither is there any to deliver them. (Ⅲ) - πόρρω γένοιντο οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτω̃ν ἀπὸ σωτηρίας κολαβρισθείησαν δὲ ἐπὶ θύραις ἡσσόνων καὶ οὐκ ἔσται ὁ ἐξαιρούμενος (Ⅳ) - Longe fient filii ejus a salute,/ et conterentur in porta,/ et non erit qui eruat./ (Ⅴ)

5 ׃5 אשר קצירו רעב יאכל ואל מצנים יקחהו ושאף צמים חילם
- Sa moisson est dévorée par des affamés, Qui viennent l'enlever jusque dans les épines, Et ses biens sont engloutis par des hommes altérés. (Ⅱ) - Whose harvest the hungry eateth up, and taketh it even out of the thorns, and the robber swalloweth up their substance. (Ⅲ) - ἃ γὰρ ἐκει̃νοι συνήγαγον δίκαιοι ἔδονται αὐτοὶ δὲ ἐκ κακω̃ν οὐκ ἐξαίρετοι ἔσονται ἐκσιφωνισθείη αὐτω̃ν ἡ ἰσχύς (Ⅳ) - Cujus messem famelicus comedet,/ et ipsum rapiet armatus,/ et bibent sitientes divitias ejus./ (Ⅴ)

6 ׃5 כי לא יצא מעפר און ומאדמה לא יצמח עמל
- Le malheur ne sort pas de la poussière, Et la souffrance ne germe pas du sol; (Ⅱ) - Although affliction cometh not forth of the dust, neither doth trouble spring out of the ground; (Ⅲ) - οὐ γὰρ μὴ ἐξέλθη̨ ἐκ τη̃ς γη̃ς κόπος οὐδὲ ἐξ ὀρέων ἀναβλαστήσει πόνος (Ⅳ) - Nihil in terra sine causa fit,/ et de humo non oritur dolor./ (Ⅴ)

7 ׃5 כי אדם לעמל יולד ובני רשף יגביהו עוף
- L'homme naît pour souffrir, Comme l'étincelle pour voler. (Ⅱ) - Yet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward. (Ⅲ) - ἀλλὰ ἄνθρωπος γεννα̃ται κόπω̨ νεοσσοὶ δὲ γυπὸς τὰ ὑψηλὰ πέτονται (Ⅳ) - Homo nascitur ad laborem,/ et avis ad volatum./ (Ⅴ)

8 ׃5 אולם אני אדרש אל אל ואל אלהים אשים דברתי
- Pour moi, j'aurais recours à Dieu, Et c'est à Dieu que j'exposerais ma cause. (Ⅱ) - I would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause: (Ⅲ) - οὐ μὴν δὲ ἀλλὰ ἐγὼ δεηθήσομαι κυρίου κύριον δὲ τὸν πάντων δεσπότην ἐπικαλέσομαι (Ⅳ) - Quam ob rem ego deprecabor Dominum,/ et ad Deum ponam eloquium meum :/ (Ⅴ)

9 ׃5 עשה גדלות ואין חקר נפלאות עד אין מספר
- Il fait des choses grandes et insondables, Des merveilles sans nombre; (Ⅱ) - Which doeth great things and unsearchable; marvellous things without number: (Ⅲ) - τὸν ποιου̃ντα μεγάλα καὶ ἀνεξιχνίαστα ἔνδοξά τε καὶ ἐξαίσια ὡ̃ν οὐκ ἔστιν ἀριθμός (Ⅳ) - qui facit magna et inscrutabilia,/ et mirabilia absque numero ;/ (Ⅴ)

10 ׃5 הנתן מטר על פני ארץ ושלח מים על פני חוצות
- Il répand la pluie sur la terre, Et envoie l'eau sur les campagnes; (Ⅱ) - Who giveth rain upon the earth, and sendeth waters upon the fields: (Ⅲ) - τὸν διδόντα ὑετὸν ἐπὶ τὴν γη̃ν ἀποστέλλοντα ὕδωρ ἐπὶ τὴν ὑπ' οὐρανόν (Ⅳ) - qui dat pluviam super faciem terræ,/ et irrigat aquis universa ;/ (Ⅴ)

11 ׃5 לשום שפלים למרום וקדרים שגבו ישע
- Il relève les humbles, Et délivre les affligés; (Ⅱ) - To set up on high those that be low; that those which mourn may be exalted to safety. (Ⅲ) - τὸν ποιου̃ντα ταπεινοὺς εἰς ὕψος καὶ ἀπολωλότας ἐξεγείροντα (Ⅳ) - qui ponit humiles in sublime,/ et mœrentes erigit sospitate ;/ (Ⅴ)

12 ׃5 מפר מחשבות ערומים ולא תעשינה ידיהם תושיה
- Il anéantit les projets des hommes rusés, Et leurs mains ne peuvent les accomplir; (Ⅱ) - He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise. (Ⅲ) - διαλλάσσοντα βουλὰς πανούργων καὶ οὐ μὴ ποιήσουσιν αἱ χει̃ρες αὐτω̃ν ἀληθές (Ⅳ) - qui dissipat cogitationes malignorum,/ ne possint implere manus eorum quod cœperant ;/ (Ⅴ)

13 ׃5 לכד חכמים בערמם ועצת נפתלים נמהרה
- Il prend les sages dans leur propre ruse, Et les desseins des hommes artificieux sont renversés: (Ⅱ) - He taketh the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the froward is carried headlong. (Ⅲ) - ὁ καταλαμβάνων σοφοὺς ἐν τη̨̃ φρονήσει βουλὴν δὲ πολυπλόκων ἐξέστησεν (Ⅳ) - qui apprehendit sapientes in astutia eorum,/ et consilium pravorum dissipat./ (Ⅴ)

14 ׃5 יומם יפגשו חשך וכלילה ימששו בצהרים
- Ils rencontrent les ténèbres au milieu du jour, Ils tâtonnent en plein midi comme dans la nuit. (Ⅱ) - They meet with darkness in the day time, and grope in the noonday as in the night. (Ⅲ) - ἡμέρας συναντήσεται αὐτοι̃ς σκότος τὸ δὲ μεσημβρινὸν ψηλαφήσαισαν ἴσα νυκτί (Ⅳ) - Per diem incurrent tenebras,/ et quasi in nocte, sic palpabunt in meridie./ (Ⅴ)

15 ׃5 וישע מחרב מפיהם ומיד חזק אביון
- Ainsi Dieu protège le faible contre leurs menaces, Et le sauve de la main des puissants; (Ⅱ) - But he saveth the poor from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hand of the mighty. (Ⅲ) - ἀπόλοιντο δὲ ἐν πολέμω̨ ἀδύνατος δὲ ἐξέλθοι ἐκ χειρὸς δυνάστου (Ⅳ) - Porro salvum faciet egenum a gladio oris eorum,/ et de manu violenti pauperem./ (Ⅴ)

16 ׃5 ותהי לדל תקוה ועלתה קפצה פיה
- Et l'espérance soutient le malheureux, Mais l'iniquité ferme la bouche. (Ⅱ) - So the poor hath hope, and iniquity stoppeth her mouth. (Ⅲ) - εἴη δὲ ἀδυνάτω̨ ἐλπίς ἀδίκου δὲ στόμα ἐμφραχθείη (Ⅳ) - Et erit egeno spes ;/ iniquitas autem contrahet os suum./ (Ⅴ)

17 ׃5 הנה אשרי אנוש יוכחנו אלוה ומוסר שדי אל תמאס
- Heureux l'homme que Dieu châtie! Ne méprise pas la correction du Tout Puissant. (Ⅱ) - Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty: (Ⅲ) - μακάριος δὲ ἄνθρωπος ὃν ἤλεγξεν ὁ κύριος νουθέτημα δὲ παντοκράτορος μὴ ἀπαναίνου (Ⅳ) - Beatus homo qui corripitur a Deo :/ increpationem ergo Domini ne reprobes :/ (Ⅴ)

18 ׃5 כי הוא יכאיב ויחבש ימחץ *וידו **וידיו תרפינה
- Il fait la plaie, et il la bande; Il blesse, et sa main guérit. (Ⅱ) - For he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole. (Ⅲ) - αὐτὸς γὰρ ἀλγει̃ν ποιει̃ καὶ πάλιν ἀποκαθίστησιν ἔπαισεν καὶ αἱ χει̃ρες αὐτου̃ ἰάσαντο (Ⅳ) - quia ipse vulnerat, et medetur ;/ percutit, et manus ejus sanabunt./ (Ⅴ)

19 ׃5 בשש צרות יצילך ובשבע לא יגע בך רע
- Six fois il te délivrera de l'angoisse, Et sept fois le mal ne t'atteindra pas. (Ⅱ) - He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee. (Ⅲ) - ἑξάκις ἐξ ἀναγκω̃ν σε ἐξελει̃ται ἐν δὲ τω̨̃ ἑβδόμω̨ οὐ μὴ ἅψηταί σου κακόν (Ⅳ) - In sex tribulationibus liberabit te,/ et in septima non tanget te malum./ (Ⅴ)

20 ׃5 ברעב פדך ממות ובמלחמה מידי חרב
- Il te sauvera de la mort pendant la famine, Et des coups du glaive pendant la guerre. (Ⅱ) - In famine he shall redeem thee from death: and in war from the power of the sword. (Ⅲ) - ἐν λιμω̨̃ ῥύσεταί σε ἐκ θανάτου ἐν πολέμω̨ δὲ ἐκ χειρὸς σιδήρου λύσει σε (Ⅳ) - In fame eruet te de morte,/ et in bello de manu gladii./ (Ⅴ)

21 ׃5 בשוט לשון תחבא ולא תירא משד כי יבוא
- Tu seras à l'abri du fléau de la langue, Tu seras sans crainte quand viendra la dévastation. (Ⅱ) - Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue: neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh. (Ⅲ) - ἀπὸ μάστιγος γλώσσης σε κρύψει καὶ οὐ μὴ φοβηθη̨̃ς ἀπὸ κακω̃ν ἐρχομένων (Ⅳ) - A flagello linguæ absconderis,/ et non timebis calamitatem cum venerit./ (Ⅴ)

22 ׃5 לשד ולכפן תשחק ומחית הארץ אל תירא
- Tu te riras de la dévastation comme de la famine, Et tu n'auras pas à redouter les bêtes de la terre; (Ⅱ) - At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh: neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth. (Ⅲ) - ἀδίκων καὶ ἀνόμων καταγελάση̨ ἀπὸ δὲ θηρίων ἀγρίων οὐ μὴ φοβηθη̨̃ς (Ⅳ) - In vastitate et fame ridebis,/ et bestias terræ non formidabis./ (Ⅴ)

23 ׃5 כי עם אבני השדה בריתך וחית השדה השלמה לך
- Car tu feras alliance avec les pierres des champs, Et les bêtes de la terre seront en paix avec toi. (Ⅱ) - For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field: and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee. (Ⅲ) - θη̃ρες γὰρ ἄγριοι εἰρηνεύσουσίν σοι (Ⅳ) - Sed cum lapidibus regionum pactum tuum,/ et bestiæ terræ pacificæ erunt tibi./ (Ⅴ)

24 ׃5 וידעת כי שלום אהלך ופקדת נוך ולא תחטא
- Tu jouiras du bonheur sous ta tente, Tu retrouveras tes troupeaux au complet, (Ⅱ) - And thou shalt know that thy tabernacle shall be in peace; and thou shalt visit thy habitation, and shalt not sin. (Ⅲ) - εἰ̃τα γνώση̨ ὅτι εἰρηνεύσει σου ὁ οἰ̃κος ἡ δὲ δίαιτα τη̃ς σκηνη̃ς σου οὐ μὴ ἁμάρτη̨ (Ⅳ) - Et scies quod pacem habeat tabernaculum tuum ;/ et visitans speciem tuam, non peccabis./ (Ⅴ)

25 ׃5 וידעת כי רב זרעך וצאצאיך כעשב הארץ
- Tu verras ta postérité s'accroître, Et tes rejetons se multiplier comme l'herbe des champs. (Ⅱ) - Thou shalt know also that thy seed shall be great, and thine offspring as the grass of the earth. (Ⅲ) - γνώση̨ δὲ ὅτι πολὺ τὸ σπέρμα σου τὰ δὲ τέκνα σου ἔσται ὥσπερ τὸ παμβότανον του̃ ἀγρου̃ (Ⅳ) - Scies quoque quoniam multiplex erit semen tuum,/ et progenies tua quasi herba terræ./ (Ⅴ)

26 ׃5 תבוא בכלח אלי קבר כעלות גדיש בעתו
- Tu entreras au sépulcre dans la vieillesse, Comme on emporte une gerbe en son temps. (Ⅱ) - Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age, like as a shock of corn cometh in in his season. (Ⅲ) - ἐλεύση̨ δὲ ἐν τάφω̨ ὥσπερ σι̃τος ὥριμος κατὰ καιρὸν θεριζόμενος ἢ ὥσπερ θιμωνιὰ ἅλωνος καθ' ὥραν συγκομισθει̃σα (Ⅳ) - Ingredieris in abundantia sepulchrum,/ sicut infertur acervus tritici in tempore suo./ (Ⅴ)

27 ׃5 הנה זאת חקרנוה כן היא שמענה ואתה דע לך פ
- Voilà ce que nous avons reconnu, voilà ce qui est; A toi d'entendre et de mettre à profit. (Ⅱ) - Lo this, we have searched it, so it is; hear it, and know thou it for thy good. (Ⅲ) - ἰδοὺ ταυ̃τα οὕτως ἐξιχνιάσαμεν ταυ̃τά ἐστιν ἃ ἀκηκόαμεν σὺ δὲ γνω̃θι σεαυτω̨̃ εἴ τι ἔπραξας (Ⅳ) - Ecce hoc, ut investigavimus, ita est :/ quod auditum, mente pertracta.] (Ⅴ)
