2 ׃6 לו שקול ישקל כעשי *והיתי **והותי במאזנים ישאו יחד
- Oh! s'il était possible de peser ma douleur, Et si toutes mes calamités étaient sur la balance, (Ⅱ) - Oh that my grief were throughly weighed, and my calamity laid in the balances together! (Ⅲ) - εἰ γάρ τις ἱστω̃ν στήσαι μου τὴν ὀργήν τὰς δὲ ὀδύνας μου ἄραι ἐν ζυγω̨̃ ὁμοθυμαδόν (Ⅳ) - Utinam appenderentur peccata mea quibus iram merui,/ et calamitas quam patior, in statera !/ (Ⅴ)

3 ׃6 כי עתה מחול ימים יכבד על כן דברי לעו
- Elles seraient plus pesantes que le sable de la mer; Voilà pourquoi mes paroles vont jusqu'à la folie! (Ⅱ) - For now it would be heavier than the sand of the sea: therefore my words are swallowed up. (Ⅲ) - καὶ δὴ ἄμμου παραλίας βαρυτέρα ἔσται ἀλλ' ὡς ἔοικεν τὰ ῥήματά μού ἐστιν φαυ̃λα (Ⅳ) - Quasi arena maris hæc gravior appareret ;/ unde et verba mea dolore sunt plena :/ (Ⅴ)

4 ׃6 כי חצי שדי עמדי אשר חמתם שתה רוחי בעותי אלוה יערכוני
- Car les flèches du Tout Puissant m'ont percé, Et mon âme en suce le venin; Les terreurs de Dieu se rangent en bataille contre moi. (Ⅱ) - For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, the poison whereof drinketh up my spirit: the terrors of God do set themselves in array against me. (Ⅲ) - βέλη γὰρ κυρίου ἐν τω̨̃ σώματί μού ἐστιν ὡ̃ν ὁ θυμὸς αὐτω̃ν ἐκπίνει μου τὸ αἱ̃μα ὅταν ἄρξωμαι λαλει̃ν κεντου̃σί με (Ⅳ) - quia sagittæ Domini in me sunt,/ quarum indignatio ebibit spiritum meum ;/ et terrores Domini militant contra me./ (Ⅴ)

5 ׃6 הינהק פרא עלי דשא אם יגעה שור על בלילו
- L'âne sauvage crie-t-il auprès de l'herbe tendre? Le boeuf mugit-il auprès de son fourrage? (Ⅱ) - Doth the wild ass bray when he hath grass? or loweth the ox over his fodder? (Ⅲ) - τί γάρ μὴ διὰ κενη̃ς κεκράξεται ὄνος ἄγριος ἀλλ' ἢ τὰ σι̃τα ζητω̃ν εἰ δὲ καὶ ῥήξει φωνὴν βου̃ς ἐπὶ φάτνης ἔχων τὰ βρώματα (Ⅳ) - Numquid rugiet onager cum habuerit herbam ?/ aut mugiet bos cum ante præsepe plenum steterit ?/ (Ⅴ)

6 ׃6 היאכל תפל מבלי מלח אם יש טעם בריר חלמות
- Peut-on manger ce qui est fade et sans sel? Y a-t-il de la saveur dans le blanc d'un oeuf? (Ⅱ) - Can that which is unsavoury be eaten without salt? or is there any taste in the white of an egg? (Ⅲ) - εἰ βρωθήσεται ἄρτος ἄνευ ἁλός εἰ δὲ καὶ ἔστιν γευ̃μα ἐν ῥήμασιν κενοι̃ς (Ⅳ) - aut poterit comedi insulsum, quod non est sale conditum ?/ aut potest aliquis gustare quod gustatum affert mortem ?/ (Ⅴ)

7 ׃6 מאנה לנגוע נפשי המה כדוי לחמי
- Ce que je voudrais ne pas toucher, C'est là ma nourriture, si dégoûtante soit-elle! (Ⅱ) - The things that my soul refused to touch are as my sorrowful meat. (Ⅲ) - οὐ δύναται γὰρ παύσασθαί μου ἡ ψυχή βρόμον γὰρ ὁρω̃ τὰ σι̃τά μου ὥσπερ ὀσμὴν λέοντος (Ⅳ) - Quæ prius nolebat tangere anima mea,/ nunc, præ angustia, cibi mei sunt./ (Ⅴ)

8 ׃6 מי יתן תבוא שאלתי ותקותי יתן אלוה
- Puisse mon voeu s'accomplir, Et Dieu veuille réaliser mon espérance! (Ⅱ) - Oh that I might have my request; and that God would grant me the thing that I long for! (Ⅲ) - εἰ γὰρ δώ̨η καὶ ἔλθοι μου ἡ αἴτησις καὶ τὴν ἐλπίδα μου δώ̨η ὁ κύριος (Ⅳ) - Quis det ut veniat petitio mea,/ et quod expecto tribuat mihi Deus ?/ (Ⅴ)

9 ׃6 ויאל אלוה וידכאני יתר ידו ויבצעני
- Qu'il plaise à Dieu de m'écraser, Qu'il étende sa main et qu'il m'achève! (Ⅱ) - Even that it would please God to destroy me; that he would let loose his hand, and cut me off! (Ⅲ) - ἀρξάμενος ὁ κύριος τρωσάτω με εἰς τέλος δὲ μή με ἀνελέτω (Ⅳ) - et qui cœpit, ipse me conterat ;/ solvat manum suam, et succidat me ?/ (Ⅴ)

10 ׃6 ותהי עוד נחמתי ואסלדה בחילה לא יחמול כי לא כחדתי אמרי קדוש
- Il me restera du moins une consolation, Une joie dans les maux dont il m'accable: Jamais je n'ai transgressé les ordres du Saint. (Ⅱ) - Then should I yet have comfort; yea, I would harden myself in sorrow: let him not spare; for I have not concealed the words of the Holy One. (Ⅲ) - εἴη δέ μου πόλις τάφος ἐφ' ἡ̃ς ἐπὶ τειχέων ἡλλόμην ἐπ' αὐτη̃ς οὐ μὴ φείσωμαι οὐ γὰρ ἐψευσάμην ῥήματα ἅγια θεου̃ μου (Ⅳ) - Et hæc mihi sit consolatio, ut affligens me dolore, non parcat,/ nec contradicam sermonibus Sancti./ (Ⅴ)

11 ׃6 מה כחי כי איחל ומה קצי כי אאריך נפשי
- Pourquoi espérer quand je n'ai plus de force? Pourquoi attendre quand ma fin est certaine? (Ⅱ) - What is my strength, that I should hope? and what is mine end, that I should prolong my life? (Ⅲ) - τίς γάρ μου ἡ ἰσχύς ὅτι ὑπομένω ἢ τίς μου ὁ χρόνος ὅτι ἀνέχεταί μου ἡ ψυχή (Ⅳ) - Quæ est enim fortitudo mea, ut sustineam ?/ aut quis finis meus, ut patienter agam ?/ (Ⅴ)

12 ׃6 אם כח אבנים כחי אם בשרי נחוש
- Ma force est-elle une force de pierre? Mon corps est-il d'airain? (Ⅱ) - Is my strength the strength of stones? or is my flesh of brass? (Ⅲ) - μὴ ἰσχὺς λίθων ἡ ἰσχύς μου ἢ αἱ σάρκες μού εἰσιν χάλκειαι (Ⅳ) - Nec fortitudo lapidum fortitudo mea,/ nec caro mea ænea est./ (Ⅴ)

13 ׃6 האם אין עזרתי בי ותשיה נדחה ממני
- Ne suis-je pas sans ressource, Et le salut n'est-il pas loin de moi? (Ⅱ) - Is not my help in me? and is wisdom driven quite from me? (Ⅲ) - ἠ̃ οὐκ ἐπ' αὐτω̨̃ ἐπεποίθειν βοήθεια δὲ ἀπ' ἐμου̃ ἄπεστιν (Ⅳ) - Ecce non est auxilium mihi in me,/ et necessarii quoque mei recesserunt a me./ (Ⅴ)

14 ׃6 למס מרעהו חסד ויראת שדי יעזוב
- Celui qui souffre a droit à la compassion de son ami, Même quand il abandonnerait la crainte du Tout Puissant. (Ⅱ) - To him that is afflicted pity should be shewed from his friend; but he forsaketh the fear of the Almighty. (Ⅲ) - ἀπείπατό με ἔλεος ἐπισκοπὴ δὲ κυρίου ὑπερει̃δέν με (Ⅳ) - Qui tollit ab amico suo misericordiam,/ timorem Domini derelinquit./ (Ⅴ)

15 ׃6 אחי בגדו כמו נחל כאפיק נחלים יעברו
- Mes frères sont perfides comme un torrent, Comme le lit des torrents qui disparaissent. (Ⅱ) - My brethren have dealt deceitfully as a brook, and as the stream of brooks they pass away; (Ⅲ) - οὐ προσει̃δόν με οἱ ἐγγύτατοί μου ὥσπερ χειμάρρους ἐκλείπων ἢ ὥσπερ κυ̃μα παρη̃λθόν με (Ⅳ) - Fratres mei præterierunt me,/ sicut torrens qui raptim transit in convallibus./ (Ⅴ)

16 ׃6 הקדרים מני קרח עלימו יתעלם שלג
- Les glaçons en troublent le cours, La neige s'y précipite; (Ⅱ) - Which are blackish by reason of the ice, and wherein the snow is hid: (Ⅲ) - οἵτινές με διευλαβου̃ντο νυ̃ν ἐπιπεπτώκασίν μοι ὥσπερ χιὼν ἢ κρύσταλλος πεπηγώς (Ⅳ) - Qui timent pruinam,/ irruet super eos nix./ (Ⅴ)

17 ׃6 בעת יזרבו נצמתו בחמו נדעכו ממקומם
- Viennent les chaleurs, et ils tarissent, Les feux du soleil, et leur lit demeure à sec. (Ⅱ) - What time they wax warm, they vanish: when it is hot, they are consumed out of their place. (Ⅲ) - καθὼς τακει̃σα θέρμης γενομένης οὐκ ἐπεγνώσθη ὅπερ ἠ̃ν (Ⅳ) - Tempore quo fuerint dissipati, peribunt ;/ et ut incaluerit, solventur de loco suo./ (Ⅴ)

18 ׃6 ילפתו ארחות דרכם יעלו בתהו ויאבדו
- Les caravanes se détournent de leur chemin, S'enfoncent dans le désert, et périssent. (Ⅱ) - The paths of their way are turned aside; they go to nothing, and perish. (Ⅲ) - οὕτως κἀγὼ κατελείφθην ὑπὸ πάντων ἀπωλόμην δὲ καὶ ἔξοικος ἐγενόμην (Ⅳ) - Involutæ sunt semitæ gressuum eorum ;/ ambulabunt in vacuum, et peribunt./ (Ⅴ)

19 ׃6 הביטו ארחות תמא הליכת שבא קוו למו
- Les caravanes de Théma fixent le regard, Les voyageurs de Séba sont pleins d'espoir; (Ⅱ) - The troops of Tema looked, the companies of Sheba waited for them. (Ⅲ) - ἴδετε ὁδοὺς Θαιμανων ἀτραποὺς Σαβων οἱ διορω̃ντες (Ⅳ) - Considerate semitas Thema, itinera Saba,/ et expectate paulisper./ (Ⅴ)

20 ׃6 בשו כי בטח באו[1] עדיה ויחפרו
- Ils sont honteux d'avoir eu confiance, Ils restent confondus quand ils arrivent. (Ⅱ) - They were confounded because they had hoped; they came thither, and were ashamed. (Ⅲ) - καὶ αἰσχύνην ὀφειλήσουσιν οἱ ἐπὶ πόλεσιν καὶ χρήμασιν πεποιθότες (Ⅳ) - Confusi sunt, quia speravi :/ venerunt quoque usque ad me, et pudore cooperti sunt./ (Ⅴ)

21 ׃6 כי עתה הייתם *לא **לו תראו חתת ותיראו
- Ainsi, vous êtes comme si vous n'existiez pas; Vous voyez mon angoisse, et vous en avez horreur! (Ⅱ) - For now ye are nothing; ye see my casting down, and are afraid. (Ⅲ) - ἀτὰρ δὲ καὶ ὑμει̃ς ἐπέβητέ μοι ἀνελεημόνως ὥστε ἰδόντες τὸ ἐμὸν τραυ̃μα φοβήθητε (Ⅳ) - Nunc venistis ;/ et modo videntes plagam meam, timetis./ (Ⅴ)

22 ׃6 הכי אמרתי הבו לי ומכחכם שחדו בעדי
- Vous ai-je dit: Donnez-moi quelque chose, Faites en ma faveur des présents avec vos biens, (Ⅱ) - Did I say, Bring unto me? or, Give a reward for me of your substance? (Ⅲ) - τί γάρ μή τι ὑμα̃ς ἤ̨τησα ἢ τη̃ς παρ' ὑμω̃ν ἰσχύος ἐπιδέομαι (Ⅳ) - Numquid dixi : Afferte mihi,/ et de substantia vestra donate mihi ?/ (Ⅴ)

23 ׃6 ומלטוני מיד צר ומיד עריצים תפדוני
- Délivrez-moi de la main de l'ennemi, Rachetez-moi de la main des méchants? (Ⅱ) - Or, Deliver me from the enemy's hand? or, Redeem me from the hand of the mighty? (Ⅲ) - ὥστε σω̃σαί με ἐξ ἐχθρω̃ν ἢ ἐκ χειρὸς δυναστω̃ν ῥύσασθαί με (Ⅳ) - vel : Liberate me de manu hostis,/ et de manu robustorum eruite me ?/ (Ⅴ)

24 ׃6 הורוני ואני אחריש ומה שגיתי הבינו לי
- Instruisez-moi, et je me tairai; Faites-moi comprendre en quoi j'ai péché. (Ⅱ) - Teach me, and I will hold my tongue: and cause me to understand wherein I have erred. (Ⅲ) - διδάξατέ με ἐγὼ δὲ κωφεύσω εἴ τι πεπλάνημαι φράσατέ μοι (Ⅳ) - Docete me, et ego tacebo :/ et si quid forte ignoravi, instruite me./ (Ⅴ)

25 ׃6 מה נמרצו אמרי ישר ומה יוכיח הוכח מכם
- Que les paroles vraies sont persuasives! Mais que prouvent vos remontrances? (Ⅱ) - How forcible are right words! but what doth your arguing reprove? (Ⅲ) - ἀλλ' ὡς ἔοικεν φαυ̃λα ἀληθινου̃ ῥήματα οὐ γὰρ παρ' ὑμω̃ν ἰσχὺν αἰτου̃μαι (Ⅳ) - Quare detraxistis sermonibus veritatis,/ cum e vobis nullus sit qui possit arguere me ?/ (Ⅴ)

26 ׃6 הלהוכח מלים תחשבו ולרוח אמרי נאש
- Voulez-vous donc blâmer ce que j'ai dit, Et ne voir que du vent dans les discours d'un désespéré? (Ⅱ) - Do ye imagine to reprove words, and the speeches of one that is desperate, which are as wind? (Ⅲ) - οὐδὲ ὁ ἔλεγχος ὑμω̃ν ῥήμασίν με παύσει οὐδὲ γὰρ ὑμω̃ν φθέγμα ῥήματος ἀνέξομαι (Ⅳ) - Ad increpandum tantum eloquia concinnatis,/ et in ventum verba profertis./ (Ⅴ)

27 ׃6 אף על יתום תפילו ותכרו על ריעכם
- Vous accablez un orphelin, Vous persécutez votre ami. (Ⅱ) - Yea, ye overwhelm the fatherless, and ye dig a pit for your friend. (Ⅲ) - πλὴν ὅτι ἐπ' ὀρφανω̨̃ ἐπιπίπτετε ἐνάλλεσθε δὲ ἐπὶ φίλω̨ ὑμω̃ν (Ⅳ) - Super pupillum irruitis,/ et subvertere nitimini amicum vestrum./ (Ⅴ)

28 ׃6 ועתה הואילו פנו בי ועל פניכם אם אכזב
- Regardez-moi, je vous prie! Vous mentirais-je en face? (Ⅱ) - Now therefore be content, look upon me; for it is evident unto you if I lie. (Ⅲ) - νυνὶ δὲ εἰσβλέψας εἰς πρόσωπα ὑμω̃ν οὐ ψεύσομαι (Ⅳ) - Verumtamen quod cœpistis explete :/ præbete aurem, et videte an mentiar./ (Ⅴ)

29 ׃6 שבו נא אל תהי עולה *ושבי **ושובו[c][k] עוד צדקי בה
- Revenez, ne soyez pas injustes; Revenez, et reconnaissez mon innocence. (Ⅱ) - Return, I pray you, let it not be iniquity; yea, return again, my righteousness is in it. (Ⅲ) - καθίσατε δὴ καὶ μὴ εἴη ἄδικον καὶ πάλιν τω̨̃ δικαίω̨ συνέρχεσθε (Ⅳ) - Respondete, obsecro, absque contentione ;/ et loquentes id quod justum est, judicate./ (Ⅴ)

30 ׃6 היש בלשוני עולה אם חכי לא יבין הוות
- Y a-t-il de l'iniquité sur ma langue, Et ma bouche ne discerne-t-elle pas le mal? (Ⅱ) - Is there iniquity in my tongue? cannot my taste discern perverse things? (Ⅲ) - οὐ γάρ ἐστιν ἐν γλώσση̨ μου ἄδικον ἢ ὁ λάρυγξ μου οὐχὶ σύνεσιν μελετα̨̃ (Ⅳ) - Et non invenietis in lingua mea iniquitatem,/ nec in faucibus meis stultitia personabit.] (Ⅴ)
