ἐπ' ἀληθείας οἰ̃δα ὅτι οὕτως ἐστίν πω̃ς γὰρ ἔσται δίκαιος βροτὸς παρὰ κυρίω̨
- Je sais bien qu'il en est ainsi; Comment l'homme serait-il juste devant Dieu? (Ⅱ) - I know it is so of a truth: but how should man be just with God? (Ⅲ) - Vere scio quod ita sit,/ et quod non justificetur homo compositus Deo./ (Ⅳ) - 2 ׃9 אמנם ידעתי כי כן ומה יצדק אנוש עם אל (Ⅴ)

ἐὰν γὰρ βούληται κριθη̃ναι αὐτω̨̃ οὐ μὴ ὑπακούση̨ αὐτω̨̃ ἵνα μὴ ἀντείπη̨ πρὸς ἕνα λόγον αὐτου̃ ἐκ χιλίων
- S'il voulait contester avec lui, Sur mille choses il ne pourrait répondre à une seule. (Ⅱ) - If he will contend with him, he cannot answer him one of a thousand. (Ⅲ) - Si voluerit contendere cum eo,/ non poterit ei respondere unum pro mille./ (Ⅳ) - 3 ׃9 אם יחפץ לריב עמו לא יעננו אחת מני אלף (Ⅴ)

σοφὸς γάρ ἐστιν διανοία̨ κραταιός τε καὶ μέγας τίς σκληρὸς γενόμενος ἐναντίον αὐτου̃ ὑπέμεινεν
- A lui la sagesse et la toute-puissance: Qui lui résisterait impunément? (Ⅱ) - He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who hath hardened himself against him, and hath prospered? (Ⅲ) - Sapiens corde est, et fortis robore :/ quis restitit ei, et pacem habuit ?/ (Ⅳ) - 4 ׃9 חכם לבב ואמיץ כח מי הקשה אליו וישלם (Ⅴ)

ὁ παλαιω̃ν ὄρη καὶ οὐκ οἴδασιν ὁ καταστρέφων αὐτὰ ὀργη̨̃
- Il transporte soudain les montagnes, Il les renverse dans sa colère. (Ⅱ) - Which removeth the mountains, and they know not: which overturneth them in his anger. (Ⅲ) - Qui transtulit montes, et nescierunt/ hi quos subvertit in furore suo./ (Ⅳ) - 5 ׃9 המעתיק הרים ולא ידעו אשר הפכם באפו (Ⅴ)

ὁ σείων τὴν ὑπ' οὐρανὸν ἐκ θεμελίων οἱ δὲ στυ̃λοι αὐτη̃ς σαλεύονται
- Il secoue la terre sur sa base, Et ses colonnes sont ébranlées. (Ⅱ) - Which shaketh the earth out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble. (Ⅲ) - Qui commovet terram de loco suo,/ et columnæ ejus concutiuntur./ (Ⅳ) - 6 ׃9 המרגיז ארץ ממקומה ועמודיה יתפלצון[1] (Ⅴ)

ὁ λέγων τω̨̃ ἡλίω̨ καὶ οὐκ ἀνατέλλει κατὰ δὲ ἄστρων κατασφραγίζει
- Il commande au soleil, et le soleil ne paraît pas; Il met un sceau sur les étoiles. (Ⅱ) - Which commandeth the sun, and it riseth not; and sealeth up the stars. (Ⅲ) - Qui præcipit soli, et non oritur,/ et stellas claudit quasi sub signaculo./ (Ⅳ) - 7 ׃9 האמר לחרס ולא יזרח ובעד כוכבים יחתם (Ⅴ)

ὁ τανύσας τὸν οὐρανὸν μόνος καὶ περιπατω̃ν ὡς ἐπ' ἐδάφους ἐπὶ θαλάσσης
- Seul, il étend les cieux, Il marche sur les hauteurs de la mer. (Ⅱ) - Which alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea. (Ⅲ) - Qui extendit cælos solus,/ et graditur super fluctus maris./ (Ⅳ) - 8 ׃9 נטה שמים לבדו ודורך על במתי ים (Ⅴ)

ὁ ποιω̃ν Πλειάδα καὶ ἕσπερον καὶ ἀρκτου̃ρον καὶ ταμίεια νότου
- Il a créé la Grande Ourse, l'Orion et les Pléiades, Et les étoiles des régions australes. (Ⅱ) - Which maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south. (Ⅲ) - Qui facit Arcturum et Oriona,/ et Hyadas et interiora austri./ (Ⅳ) - 9 ׃9 עשה עש כסיל וכימה וחדרי תמן (Ⅴ)

ὁ ποιω̃ν μεγάλα καὶ ἀνεξιχνίαστα ἔνδοξά τε καὶ ἐξαίσια ὡ̃ν οὐκ ἔστιν ἀριθμός
- Il fait des choses grandes et insondables, Des merveilles sans nombre. (Ⅱ) - Which doeth great things past finding out; yea, and wonders without number. (Ⅲ) - Qui facit magna, et incomprehensibilia,/ et mirabilia, quorum non est numerus./ (Ⅳ) - 10 ׃9 עשה גדלות עד אין חקר ונפלאות עד אין מספר (Ⅴ)

ἐὰν ὑπερβη̨̃ με οὐ μὴ ἴδω καὶ ἐὰν παρέλθη̨ με οὐδ' ὡ̃ς ἔγνων
- Voici, il passe près de moi, et je ne le vois pas, Il s'en va, et je ne l'aperçois pas. (Ⅱ) - Lo, he goeth by me, and I see him not: he passeth on also, but I perceive him not. (Ⅲ) - Si venerit ad me, non videbo eum ;/ si abierit, non intelligam./ (Ⅳ) - 11 ׃9 הן יעבר עלי ולא אראה ויחלף ולא אבין לו (Ⅴ)

ἐὰν ἀπαλλάξη̨ τίς ἀποστρέψει ἢ τίς ἐρει̃ αὐτω̨̃ τί ἐποίησας
- S'il enlève, qui s'y opposera? Qui lui dira: Que fais-tu? (Ⅱ) - Behold, he taketh away, who can hinder him? who will say unto him, What doest thou? (Ⅲ) - Si repente interroget, quis respondebit ei ?/ vel quis dicere potest : Cur ita facis ?/ (Ⅳ) - 12 ׃9 הן יחתף מי ישיבנו מי יאמר אליו מה תעשה (Ⅴ)

αὐτὸς γὰρ ἀπέστραπται ὀργήν ὑπ' αὐτου̃ ἐκάμφθησαν κήτη τὰ ὑπ' οὐρανόν
- Dieu ne retire point sa colère; Sous lui s'inclinent les appuis de l'orgueil. (Ⅱ) - If God will not withdraw his anger, the proud helpers do stoop under him. (Ⅲ) - Deus, cujus iræ nemo resistere potest,/ et sub quo curvantur qui portant orbem./ (Ⅳ) - 13 ׃9 אלוה לא ישיב אפו *תחתו **תחתיו שחחו עזרי רהב (Ⅴ)

ἐὰν δέ μου ὑπακούσηται ἠ̃ διακρινει̃ τὰ ῥήματά μου
- Et moi, comment lui répondre? Quelles paroles choisir? (Ⅱ) - How much less shall I answer him, and choose out my words to reason with him? (Ⅲ) - Quantus ergo sum ego, ut respondeam ei,/ et loquar verbis meis cum eo ?/ (Ⅳ) - 14 ׃9 אף כי אנכי אעננו אבחרה דברי עמו (Ⅴ)

ἐάν τε γὰρ ὠ̃ δίκαιος οὐκ εἰσακούσεταί μου του̃ κρίματος αὐτου̃ δεηθήσομαι
- Quand je serais juste, je ne répondrais pas; Je ne puis qu'implorer mon juge. (Ⅱ) - Whom, though I were righteous, yet would I not answer, but I would make supplication to my judge. (Ⅲ) - qui etiam si habuero quippiam justum, non respondebo :/ sed meum judicem deprecabor./ (Ⅳ) - 15 ׃9 אשר אם צדקתי לא אענה למשפטי אתחנן (Ⅴ)

ἐάν τε καλέσω καὶ ὑπακούση̨ οὐ πιστεύω ὅτι εἰσακήκοέν μου
- Et quand il m'exaucerait, si je l'invoque, Je ne croirais pas qu'il eût écouté ma voix, (Ⅱ) - If I had called, and he had answered me; yet would I not believe that he had hearkened unto my voice. (Ⅲ) - Et cum invocantem exaudierit me,/ non credo quod audierit vocem meam./ (Ⅳ) - 16 ׃9 אם קראתי ויענני לא אאמין כי יאזין קולי (Ⅴ)

μὴ γνόφω̨ με ἐκτρίψη̨ πολλὰ δέ μου τὰ συντρίμματα πεποίηκεν διὰ κενη̃ς
- Lui qui m'assaille comme par une tempête, Qui multiplie sans raison mes blessures, (Ⅱ) - For he breaketh me with a tempest, and multiplieth my wounds without cause. (Ⅲ) - In turbine enim conteret me,/ et multiplicabit vulnera mea, etiam sine causa./ (Ⅳ) - 17 ׃9 אשר בשערה ישופני והרבה פצעי חנם (Ⅴ)

οὐκ ἐα̨̃ γάρ με ἀναπνευ̃σαι ἐνέπλησεν δέ με πικρίας
- Qui ne me laisse pas respirer, Qui me rassasie d'amertume. (Ⅱ) - He will not suffer me to take my breath, but filleth me with bitterness. (Ⅲ) - Non concedit requiescere spiritum meum,/ et implet me amaritudinibus./ (Ⅳ) - 18 ׃9 לא יתנני השב רוחי כי ישבעני ממררים (Ⅴ)

ὅτι μὲν γὰρ ἰσχύι κρατει̃ τίς οὐ̃ν κρίματι αὐτου̃ ἀντιστήσεται
- Recourir à la force? Il est Tout Puissant. A la justice? Qui me fera comparaître? (Ⅱ) - If I speak of strength, lo, he is strong: and if of judgment, who shall set me a time to plead? (Ⅲ) - Si fortitudo quæritur, robustissimus est ;/ si æquitas judicii, nemo audet pro me testimonium dicere./ (Ⅳ) - 19 ׃9 אם לכח אמיץ הנה ואם למשפט מי יועידני (Ⅴ)

ἐὰν γὰρ ὠ̃ δίκαιος τὸ στόμα μου ἀσεβήσει ἐάν τε ὠ̃ ἄμεμπτος σκολιὸς ἀποβήσομαι
- Suis-je juste, ma bouche me condamnera; Suis-je innocent, il me déclarera coupable. (Ⅱ) - If I justify myself, mine own mouth shall condemn me: if I say, I am perfect, it shall also prove me perverse. (Ⅲ) - Si justificare me voluero, os meum condemnabit me ;/ si innocentem ostendero, pravum me comprobabit./ (Ⅳ) - 20 ׃9 אם אצדק פי ירשיעני תם אני ויעקשני (Ⅴ)

εἴτε γὰρ ἠσέβησα οὐκ οἰ̃δα τη̨̃ ψυχη̨̃ πλὴν ὅτι ἀφαιρει̃ταί μου ἡ ζωή
- Innocent! Je le suis; mais je ne tiens pas à la vie, Je méprise mon existence. (Ⅱ) - Though I were perfect, yet would I not know my soul: I would despise my life. (Ⅲ) - Etiam si simplex fuero, hoc ipsum ignorabit anima mea,/ et tædebit me vitæ meæ./ (Ⅳ) - 21 ׃9 תם אני לא אדע נפשי אמאס חיי (Ⅴ)

διὸ εἰ̃πον μέγαν καὶ δυνάστην ἀπολλύει ὀργή
- Qu'importe après tout? Car, j'ose le dire, Il détruit l'innocent comme le coupable. (Ⅱ) - This is one thing, therefore I said it, He destroyeth the perfect and the wicked. (Ⅲ) - Unum est quod locutus sum :/ et innocentem et impium ipse consumit./ (Ⅳ) - 22 ׃9 אחת היא על כן אמרתי תם ורשע הוא מכלה (Ⅴ)

ὅτι φαυ̃λοι ἐν θανάτω̨ ἐξαισίω̨ ἀλλὰ δίκαιοι καταγελω̃νται
- Si du moins le fléau donnait soudain la mort!... Mais il se rit des épreuves de l'innocent. (Ⅱ) - If the scourge slay suddenly, he will laugh at the trial of the innocent. (Ⅲ) - Si flagellat, occidat semel,/ et non de pœnis innocentum rideat./ (Ⅳ) - 23 ׃9 אם שוט ימית פתאם למסת נקים ילעג (Ⅴ)

παραδέδονται γὰρ εἰς χει̃ρας ἀσεβου̃ς πρόσωπα κριτω̃ν αὐτη̃ς συγκαλύπτει εἰ δὲ μὴ αὐτός τίς ἐστιν
- La terre est livrée aux mains de l'impie; Il voile la face des juges. Si ce n'est pas lui, qui est-ce donc? (Ⅱ) - The earth is given into the hand of the wicked: he covereth the faces of the judges thereof; if not, where, and who is he? (Ⅲ) - Terra data est in manus impii ;/ vultum judicum ejus operit./ Quod si non ille est, quis ergo est ?/ (Ⅳ) - 24 ׃9 ארץ נתנה ביד רשע פני שפטיה יכסה אם לא אפוא מי הוא (Ⅴ)

ὁ δὲ βίος μού ἐστιν ἐλαφρότερος δρομέως ἀπέδρασαν καὶ οὐκ εἴδοσαν
- Mes jours sont plus rapides qu'un courrier; Ils fuient sans avoir vu le bonheur; (Ⅱ) - Now my days are swifter than a post: they flee away, they see no good. (Ⅲ) - Dies mei velociores fuerunt cursore ;/ fugerunt, et non viderunt bonum./ (Ⅳ) - 25 ׃9 וימי קלו מני רץ ברחו לא ראו טובה (Ⅴ)

ἠ̃ καὶ ἔστιν ναυσὶν ἴχνος ὁδου̃ ἢ ἀετου̃ πετομένου ζητου̃ντος βοράν
- Ils passent comme les navires de jonc, Comme l'aigle qui fond sur sa proie. (Ⅱ) - They are passed away as the swift ships: as the eagle that hasteth to the prey. (Ⅲ) - Pertransierunt quasi naves poma portantes ;/ sicut aquila volans ad escam./ (Ⅳ) - 26 ׃9 חלפו עם אניות אבה כנשר יטוש עלי אכל (Ⅴ)

ἐάν τε γὰρ εἴπω ἐπιλήσομαι λαλω̃ν συγκύψας τω̨̃ προσώπω̨ στενάξω
- Si je dis: Je veux oublier mes souffrances, Laisser ma tristesse, reprendre courage, (Ⅱ) - If I say, I will forget my complaint, I will leave off my heaviness, and comfort myself: (Ⅲ) - Cum dixero : Nequaquam ita loquar :/ commuto faciem meam, et dolore torqueor./ (Ⅳ) - 27 ׃9 אם אמרי אשכחה שיחי אעזבה פני ואבליגה (Ⅴ)

σείομαι πα̃σιν τοι̃ς μέλεσιν οἰ̃δα γὰρ ὅτι οὐκ ἀθω̨̃όν με ἐάσεις
- Je suis effrayé de toutes mes douleurs. Je sais que tu ne me tiendras pas pour innocent. (Ⅱ) - I am afraid of all my sorrows, I know that thou wilt not hold me innocent. (Ⅲ) - Verebar omnia opera mea,/ sciens quod non parceres delinquenti./ (Ⅳ) - 28 ׃9 יגרתי כל עצבתי ידעתי כי לא תנקני (Ⅴ)

ἐπειδὴ δέ εἰμι ἀσεβής διὰ τί οὐκ ἀπέθανον
- Je serai jugé coupable; Pourquoi me fatiguer en vain? (Ⅱ) - If I be wicked, why then labour I in vain? (Ⅲ) - Si autem et sic impius sum,/ quare frustra laboravi ?/ (Ⅳ) - 29 ׃9 אנכי ארשע למה זה הבל איגע (Ⅴ)

ἐὰν γὰρ ἀπολούσωμαι χιόνι καὶ ἀποκαθάρωμαι χερσὶν καθαραι̃ς
- Quand je me laverais dans la neige, Quand je purifierais mes mains avec du savon, (Ⅱ) - If I wash myself with snow water, and make my hands never so clean; (Ⅲ) - Si lotus fuero quasi aquis nivis,/ et fulserint velut mundissimæ manus meæ,/ (Ⅳ) - 30 ׃9 אם התרחצתי *במו **במי שלג והזכותי בבר כפי (Ⅴ)

ἱκανω̃ς ἐν ῥύπω̨ με ἔβαψας ἐβδελύξατο δέ με ἡ στολή
- Tu me plongerais dans la fange, Et mes vêtements m'auraient en horreur. (Ⅱ) - Yet shalt thou plunge me in the ditch, and mine own clothes shall abhor me. (Ⅲ) - tamen sordibus intinges me,/ et abominabuntur me vestimenta mea./ (Ⅳ) - 31 ׃9 אז בשחת תטבלני ותעבוני שלמותי (Ⅴ)

οὐ γὰρ εἰ̃ ἄνθρωπος κατ' ἐμέ ὡ̨̃ ἀντικρινου̃μαι ἵνα ἔλθωμεν ὁμοθυμαδὸν εἰς κρίσιν
- Il n'est pas un homme comme moi, pour que je lui réponde, Pour que nous allions ensemble en justice. (Ⅱ) - For he is not a man, as I am, that I should answer him, and we should come together in judgment. (Ⅲ) - Neque enim viro qui similis mei est, respondebo ;/ nec qui mecum in judicio ex æquo possit audiri./ (Ⅳ) - 32 ׃9 כי לא איש כמני אעננו נבוא יחדו במשפט (Ⅴ)

εἴθε ἠ̃ν ὁ μεσίτης ἡμω̃ν καὶ ἐλέγχων καὶ διακούων ἀνὰ μέσον ἀμφοτέρων
- Il n'y a pas entre nous d'arbitre, Qui pose sa main sur nous deux. (Ⅱ) - Neither is there any daysman betwixt us, that might lay his hand upon us both. (Ⅲ) - Non est qui utrumque valeat arguere,/ et ponere manum suam in ambobus./ (Ⅳ) - 33 ׃9 לא יש בינינו מוכיח ישת ידו על שנינו (Ⅴ)

ἀπαλλαξάτω ἀπ' ἐμου̃ τὴν ῥάβδον ὁ δὲ φόβος αὐτου̃ μή με στροβείτω
- Qu'il retire sa verge de dessus moi, Que ses terreurs ne me troublent plus; (Ⅱ) - Let him take his rod away from me, and let not his fear terrify me: (Ⅲ) - Auferat a me virgam suam,/ et pavor ejus non me terreat./ (Ⅳ) - 34 ׃9 יסר מעלי שבטו ואמתו אל תבעתני (Ⅴ)

καὶ οὐ μὴ φοβηθω̃ ἀλλὰ λαλήσω οὐ γὰρ οὕτω συνεπίσταμαι
- Alors je parlerai et je ne le craindrai pas. Autrement, je ne suis point à moi-même. (Ⅱ) - Then would I speak, and not fear him; but it is not so with me. (Ⅲ) - Loquar, et non timebo eum ;/ neque enim possum metuens respondere.] (Ⅳ) - 35 ׃9 אדברה ולא איראנו כי לא כן אנכי עמדי (Ⅴ)
