Nos pères en Égypte ne furent pas attentifs à tes miracles, Ils ne se rappelèrent pas la multitude de tes grâces, Ils furent rebelles près de la mer, près de la mer Rouge.
- Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt; they remembered not the multitude of thy mercies; but provoked him at the sea, even at the Red sea. (Ⅱ) - οἱ πατέρες ἡμω̃ν ἐν Αἰγύπτω̨ οὐ συνη̃καν τὰ θαυμάσιά σου οὐκ ἐμνήσθησαν του̃ πλήθους του̃ ἐλέους σου καὶ παρεπίκραναν ἀναβαίνοντες ἐν τη̨̃ ἐρυθρα̨̃ θαλάσση̨ (Ⅲ) - Patres nostri in Ægypto non intellexerunt mirabilia tua ;/ non fuerunt memores multitudinis misericordiæ tuæ./ Et irritaverunt ascendentes in mare, mare Rubrum ;/ (Ⅳ) - 7 ׃106 אבותינו במצרים לא השכילו נפלאותיך לא זכרו את רב חסדיך וימרו על ים בים סוף (Ⅴ)

- Nevertheless he saved them for his name's sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known. Il menaça la mer Rouge, et elle se dessécha; Et il les fit marcher à travers les abîmes comme dans un désert.
- He rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up: so he led them through the depths, as through the wilderness. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐπετίμησεν τη̨̃ ἐρυθρα̨̃ θαλάσση̨ καὶ ἐξηράνθη καὶ ὡδήγησεν αὐτοὺς ἐν ἀβύσσω̨ ὡς ἐν ἐρήμω̨ (Ⅲ) - Et increpuit mare Rubrum et exsiccatum est,/ et deduxit eos in abyssis sicut in deserto./ (Ⅳ) - 9 ׃106 ויגער בים סוף ויחרב ויוליכם בתהמות כמדבר (Ⅴ)

Il les sauva de la main de celui qui les haïssait, Il les délivra de la main de l'ennemi.
- And he saved them from the hand of him that hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔσωσεν αὐτοὺς ἐκ χειρὸς μισούντων καὶ ἐλυτρώσατο αὐτοὺς ἐκ χειρὸς ἐχθρου̃ (Ⅲ) - Et salvavit eos de manu odientium,/ et redemit eos de manu inimici./ (Ⅳ) - 10 ׃106 ויושיעם מיד שונא ויגאלם מיד אויב (Ⅴ)

Les eaux couvrirent leurs adversaires: Il n'en resta pas un seul.

Et ils crurent à ses paroles, Ils chantèrent ses louanges.

Mais ils oublièrent bientôt ses oeuvres, Ils n'attendirent pas l'exécution de ses desseins.
- They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel: (Ⅱ) - ἐτάχυναν ἐπελάθοντο τω̃ν ἔργων αὐτου̃ οὐχ ὑπέμειναν τὴν βουλὴν αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - Cito fecerunt ; obliti sunt operum ejus :/ et non sustinuerunt consilium ejus./ (Ⅳ) - 13 ׃106 מהרו שכחו מעשיו לא חכו לעצתו (Ⅴ)

Ils furent saisis de convoitise dans le désert, Et ils tentèrent Dieu dans la solitude.
- But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐπεθύμησαν ἐπιθυμίαν ἐν τη̨̃ ἐρήμω̨ καὶ ἐπείρασαν τὸν θεὸν ἐν ἀνύδρω̨ (Ⅲ) - Et concupierunt concupiscentiam in deserto,/ et tentaverunt Deum in inaquoso./ (Ⅳ) - 14 ׃106 ויתאוו תאוה במדבר וינסו אל בישימון (Ⅴ)

Il leur accorda ce qu'ils demandaient; Puis il envoya le dépérissement dans leur corps.
- And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτοι̃ς τὸ αἴτημα αὐτω̃ν καὶ ἐξαπέστειλεν πλησμονὴν εἰς τὰς ψυχὰς αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Et dedit eis petitionem ipsorum,/ et misit saturitatem in animas eorum./ (Ⅳ) - 15 ׃106 ויתן להם שאלתם וישלח רזון בנפשם (Ⅴ)

Ils se montrèrent, dans le camp, jaloux contre Moïse, Contre Aaron, le saint de l'Éternel.
- They envied Moses also in the camp, and Aaron the saint of the LORD. (Ⅱ) - καὶ παρώργισαν Μωυση̃ν ἐν τη̨̃ παρεμβολη̨̃ καὶ Ααρων τὸν ἅγιον κυρίου (Ⅲ) - Et irritaverunt Moysen in castris ;/ Aaron, sanctum Domini./ (Ⅳ) - 16 ׃106 ויקנאו למשה במחנה לאהרן קדוש יהוה (Ⅴ)

La terre s'ouvrit et engloutit Dathan, Et elle se referma sur la troupe d'Abiram;
- The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan and covered the company of Abiram. (Ⅱ) - ἠνοίχθη ἡ γη̃ καὶ κατέπιεν Δαθαν καὶ ἐκάλυψεν ἐπὶ τὴν συναγωγὴν Αβιρων (Ⅲ) - Aperta est terra, et deglutivit Dathan,/ et operuit super congregationem Abiron./ (Ⅳ) - 17 ׃106 תפתח ארץ ותבלע דתן ותכס על עדת אבירם (Ⅴ)

Le feu embrasa leur troupe, La flamme consuma les méchants.
- And a fire was kindled in their company; the flame burned up the wicked. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐξεκαύθη πυ̃ρ ἐν τη̨̃ συναγωγη̨̃ αὐτω̃ν φλὸξ κατέφλεξεν ἁμαρτωλούς (Ⅲ) - Et exarsit ignis in synagoga eorum :/ flamma combussit peccatores./ (Ⅳ) - 18 ׃106 ותבער אש בעדתם להבה תלהט רשעים (Ⅴ)

- They made a calf in Horeb, and worshipped the molten image. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐποίησαν μόσχον ἐν Χωρηβ καὶ προσεκύνησαν τω̨̃ γλυπτω̨̃ (Ⅲ) - Et fecerunt vitulum in Horeb,/ et adoraverunt sculptile./ (Ⅳ) - 19 ׃106 יעשו עגל בחרב וישתחוו למסכה (Ⅴ)

Ils échangèrent leur gloire Contre la figure d'un boeuf qui mange l'herbe.
- Thus they changed their glory into the similitude of an ox that eateth grass. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἠλλάξαντο τὴν δόξαν αὐτω̃ν ἐν ὁμοιώματι μόσχου ἔσθοντος χόρτον (Ⅲ) - Et mutaverunt gloriam suam/ in similitudinem vituli comedentis fœnum./ (Ⅳ) - 20 ׃106 וימירו את כבודם בתבנית שור אכל עשב (Ⅴ)

Ils oublièrent Dieu, leur sauveur, Qui avait fait de grandes choses en Égypte,
- They forgat God their saviour, which had done great things in Egypt; (Ⅱ) - ἐπελάθοντο του̃ θεου̃ του̃ σώ̨ζοντος αὐτούς του̃ ποιήσαντος μεγάλα ἐν Αἰγύπτω̨ (Ⅲ) - Obliti sunt Deum qui salvavit eos ;/ qui fecit magnalia in Ægypto,/ (Ⅳ) - 21 ׃106 שכחו אל מושיעם עשה גדלות במצרים (Ⅴ)

Et il parla de les exterminer; Mais Moïse, son élu, se tint à la brèche devant lui, Pour détourner sa fureur et l'empêcher de les détruire.
- Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them. Ils méprisèrent le pays des délices; Ils ne crurent pas à la parole de l'Éternel,
- Yea, they despised the pleasant land, they believed not his word: (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐξουδένωσαν γη̃ν ἐπιθυμητήν οὐκ ἐπίστευσαν τω̨̃ λόγω̨ αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - Et pro nihilo habuerunt terram desiderabilem ;/ non crediderunt verbo ejus./ (Ⅳ) - 24 ׃106 וימאסו בארץ חמדה לא האמינו לדברו (Ⅴ)

Ils murmurèrent dans leurs tentes, Ils n'obéirent point à sa voix.
- But murmured in their tents, and hearkened not unto the voice of the LORD. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐγόγγυσαν ἐν τοι̃ς σκηνώμασιν αὐτω̃ν οὐκ εἰσήκουσαν τη̃ς φωνη̃ς κυρίου (Ⅲ) - Et murmuraverunt in tabernaculis suis ;/ non exaudierunt vocem Domini./ (Ⅳ) - 25 ׃106 וירגנו באהליהם לא שמעו בקול יהוה (Ⅴ)

Et il leva la main pour jurer De les faire tomber dans le désert,
- Therefore he lifted up his hand against them, to overthrow them in the wilderness: (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐπη̃ρεν τὴν χει̃ρα αὐτου̃ αὐτοι̃ς του̃ καταβαλει̃ν αὐτοὺς ἐν τη̨̃ ἐρήμω̨ (Ⅲ) - Et elevavit manum suam super eos/ ut prosterneret eos in deserto :/ (Ⅳ) - 26 ׃106 וישא ידו להם להפיל אותם במדבר (Ⅴ)

De faire tomber leur postérité parmi les nations, Et de les disperser au milieu des pays.
- To overthrow their seed also among the nations, and to scatter them in the lands. (Ⅱ) - καὶ του̃ καταβαλει̃ν τὸ σπέρμα αὐτω̃ν ἐν τοι̃ς ἔθνεσιν καὶ διασκορπίσαι αὐτοὺς ἐν ται̃ς χώραις (Ⅲ) - et ut dejiceret semen eorum in nationibus,/ et dispergeret eos in regionibus./ (Ⅳ) - 27 ׃106 ולהפיל זרעם בגוים ולזרותם בארצות (Ⅴ)

Ils s'attachèrent à Baal Peor, Et mangèrent des victimes sacrifiées aux morts.
- They joined themselves also unto Baalpeor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐτελέσθησαν τω̨̃ Βεελφεγωρ καὶ ἔφαγον θυσίας νεκρω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Et initiati sunt Beelphegor,/ et comederunt sacrificia mortuorum./ (Ⅳ) - 28 ׃106 ויצמדו לבעל פעור ויאכלו זבחי מתים (Ⅴ)

Ils irritèrent l'Éternel par leurs actions, Et une plaie fit irruption parmi eux.
- Thus they provoked him to anger with their inventions: and the plague brake in upon them. (Ⅱ) - καὶ παρώξυναν αὐτὸν ἐν τοι̃ς ἐπιτηδεύμασιν αὐτω̃ν καὶ ἐπληθύνθη ἐν αὐτοι̃ς ἡ πτω̃σις (Ⅲ) - Et irritaverunt eum in adinventionibus suis,/ et multiplicata est in eis ruina./ (Ⅳ) - 29 ׃106 ויכעיסו במעלליהם ותפרץ בם מגפה (Ⅴ)

- Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: and so the plague was stayed. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔστη Φινεες καὶ ἐξιλάσατο καὶ ἐκόπασεν ἡ θραυ̃σις (Ⅲ) - Et stetit Phinees, et placavit,/ et cessavit quassatio./ (Ⅳ) - 30 ׃106 ויעמד פינחס ויפלל ותעצר המגפה (Ⅴ)

Cela lui fut imputé à justice, De génération en génération pour toujours.
- And that was counted unto him for righteousness unto all generations for evermore. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐλογίσθη αὐτω̨̃ εἰς δικαιοσύνην εἰς γενεὰν καὶ γενεὰν ἕως του̃ αἰω̃νος (Ⅲ) - Et reputatum est ei in justitiam,/ in generationem et generationem usque in sempiternum./ (Ⅳ) - 31 ׃106 ותחשב לו לצדקה לדר ודר עד עולם (Ⅴ)

Ils irritèrent l'Éternel près des eaux de Meriba; Et Moïse fut puni à cause d'eux,
- They angered him also at the waters of strife, so that it went ill with Moses for their sakes: (Ⅱ) - καὶ παρώργισαν αὐτὸν ἐφ' ὕδατος ἀντιλογίας καὶ ἐκακώθη Μωυση̃ς δι' αὐτούς (Ⅲ) - Et irritaverunt eum ad aquas contradictionis,/ et vexatus est Moyses propter eos :/ (Ⅳ) - 32 ׃106 ויקציפו על מי מריבה וירע למשה בעבורם (Ⅴ)

Car ils aigrirent son esprit, Et il s'exprima légèrement des lèvres.
- Because they provoked his spirit, so that he spake unadvisedly with his lips. (Ⅱ) - ὅτι παρεπίκραναν τὸ πνευ̃μα αὐτου̃ καὶ διέστειλεν ἐν τοι̃ς χείλεσιν αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - quia exacerbaverunt spiritum ejus,/ et distinxit in labiis suis./ (Ⅳ) - 33 ׃106 כי המרו את רוחו ויבטא בשפתיו (Ⅴ)

Ils ne détruisirent point les peuples Que l'Éternel leur avait ordonné de détruire.
- They did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the LORD commanded them: (Ⅱ) - οὐκ ἐξωλέθρευσαν τὰ ἔθνη ἃ εἰ̃πεν κύριος αὐτοι̃ς (Ⅲ) - Non disperdiderunt gentes/ quas dixit Dominus illis :/ (Ⅳ) - 34 ׃106 לא השמידו את העמים אשר אמר יהוה להם (Ⅴ)

Ils se mêlèrent avec les nations, Et ils apprirent leurs oeuvres.
- But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐμίγησαν ἐν τοι̃ς ἔθνεσιν καὶ ἔμαθον τὰ ἔργα αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ) - et commisti sunt inter gentes,/ et didicerunt opera eorum ;/ (Ⅳ) - 35 ׃106 ויתערבו בגוים וילמדו מעשיהם (Ⅴ)

Ils servirent leurs idoles, Qui furent pour eux un piège;
- And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐδούλευσαν τοι̃ς γλυπτοι̃ς αὐτω̃ν καὶ ἐγενήθη αὐτοι̃ς εἰς σκάνδαλον (Ⅲ) - et servierunt sculptilibus eorum,/ et factum est illis in scandalum./ (Ⅳ) - 36 ׃106 ויעבדו את עצביהם ויהיו להם למוקש (Ⅴ)

Ils sacrifièrent leurs fils Et leurs filles aux idoles,
- Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils, (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔθυσαν τοὺς υἱοὺς αὐτω̃ν καὶ τὰς θυγατέρας αὐτω̃ν τοι̃ς δαιμονίοις (Ⅲ) - Et immolaverunt filios suos et filias suas dæmoniis./ (Ⅳ) - 37 ׃106 ויזבחו את בניהם ואת בנותיהם לשדים (Ⅴ)

Ils répandirent le sang innocent, Le sang de leurs fils et de leurs filles, Qu'ils sacrifièrent aux idoles de Canaan, Et le pays fut profané par des meurtres.
- And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood. Ils se souillèrent par leurs oeuvres, Ils se prostituèrent par leurs actions.
- Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐμιάνθη ἐν τοι̃ς ἔργοις αὐτω̃ν καὶ ἐπόρνευσαν ἐν τοι̃ς ἐπιτηδεύμασιν αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ) - et contaminata est in operibus eorum :/ et fornicati sunt in adinventionibus suis./ (Ⅳ) - 39 ׃106 ויטמאו במעשיהם ויזנו[c] במעלליהם (Ⅴ)

La colère de l'Éternel s'enflamma contre son peuple, Et il prit en horreur son héritage.
- Therefore was the wrath of the LORD kindled against his people, insomuch that he abhorred his own inheritance. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ὠργίσθη θυμω̨̃ κύριος ἐπὶ τὸν λαὸν αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐβδελύξατο τὴν κληρονομίαν αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - Et iratus est furore Dominus in populum suum,/ et abominatus est hæreditatem suam./ (Ⅳ) - 40 ׃106 ויחר אף יהוה בעמו ויתעב את נחלתו (Ⅴ)

Il les livra entre les mains des nations; Ceux qui les haïssaient dominèrent sur eux;
- And he gave them into the hand of the heathen; and they that hated them ruled over them. (Ⅱ) - καὶ παρέδωκεν αὐτοὺς εἰς χει̃ρας ἐθνω̃ν καὶ ἐκυρίευσαν αὐτω̃ν οἱ μισου̃ντες αὐτούς (Ⅲ) - Et tradidit eos in manus gentium ;/ et dominati sunt eorum qui oderunt eos./ (Ⅳ) - 41 ׃106 ויתנם ביד גוים וימשלו בהם שנאיהם (Ⅴ)

Leurs ennemis les opprimèrent, Et ils furent humiliés sous leur puissance.
- Their enemies also oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their hand. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔθλιψαν αὐτοὺς οἱ ἐχθροὶ αὐτω̃ν καὶ ἐταπεινώθησαν ὑπὸ τὰς χει̃ρας αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Et tribulaverunt eos inimici eorum,/ et humiliati sunt sub manibus eorum ;/ (Ⅳ) - 42 ׃106 וילחצום אויביהם ויכנעו תחת ידם (Ⅴ)

Plusieurs fois il les délivra; Mais ils se montrèrent rebelles dans leurs desseins, Et ils devinrent malheureux par leur iniquité.
- Many times did he deliver them; but they provoked him with their counsel, and were brought low for their iniquity. (Ⅱ) - πλεονάκις ἐρρύσατο αὐτούς αὐτοὶ δὲ παρεπίκραναν αὐτὸν ἐν τη̨̃ βουλη̨̃ αὐτω̃ν καὶ ἐταπεινώθησαν ἐν ται̃ς ἀνομίαις αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ) - sæpe liberavit eos./ Ipsi autem exacerbaverunt eum in consilio suo,/ et humiliati sunt in iniquitatibus suis./ (Ⅳ) - 43 ׃106 פעמים רבות יצילם והמה ימרו בעצתם וימכו בעונם (Ⅴ)

Il vit leur détresse, Lorsqu'il entendit leurs supplications.
- Nevertheless he regarded their affliction, when he heard their cry: (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃δεν ἐν τω̨̃ θλίβεσθαι αὐτοὺς ἐν τω̨̃ αὐτὸν εἰσακου̃σαι τη̃ς δεήσεως αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Et vidit cum tribularentur,/ et audivit orationem eorum./ (Ⅳ) - 44 ׃106 וירא בצר להם בשמעו את רנתם (Ⅴ)

Il se souvint en leur faveur de son alliance;
- And he remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his mercies. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐμνήσθη τη̃ς διαθήκης αὐτου̃ καὶ μετεμελήθη κατὰ τὸ πλη̃θος του̃ ἐλέους αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - Et memor fuit testamenti sui,/ et pœnituit eum secundum multitudinem misericordiæ suæ :/ (Ⅳ) - 45 ׃106 ויזכר להם בריתו וינחם כרב *חסדו **חסדיו (Ⅴ)

Il eut pitié selon sa grande bonté, Et il excita pour eux la compassion De tous ceux qui les retenaient captifs.
- He made them also to be pitied of all those that carried them captives. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτοὺς εἰς οἰκτιρμοὺς ἐναντίον πάντων τω̃ν αἰχμαλωτισάντων αὐτούς (Ⅲ) - et dedit eos in misericordias,/ in conspectu omnium qui ceperant eos./ (Ⅳ) - 46 ׃106 ויתן אותם לרחמים לפני כל שוביהם (Ⅴ)

Sauve-nous, Éternel, notre Dieu! Et rassemble-nous du milieu des nations, Afin que nous célébrions ton saint nom, Et que nous mettions notre gloire à te louer!
- Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from among the heathen, to give thanks unto thy holy name, and to triumph in thy praise. (Ⅱ) - σω̃σον ἡμα̃ς κύριε ὁ θεὸς ἡμω̃ν καὶ ἐπισυνάγαγε ἡμα̃ς ἐκ τω̃ν ἐθνω̃ν του̃ ἐξομολογήσασθαι τω̨̃ ὀνόματι τω̨̃ ἁγίω̨ σου του̃ ἐγκαυχα̃σθαι ἐν τη̨̃ αἰνέσει σου (Ⅲ) - Salvos nos fac, Domine Deus noster,/ et congrega nos de nationibus :/ ut confiteamur nomini sancto tuo,/ et gloriemur in laude tua./ (Ⅳ) - 47 ׃106 הושיענו יהוה אלהינו וקבצנו מן הגוים להדות לשם קדשך להשתבח בתהלתך (Ⅴ)

Béni soit l'Éternel, le Dieu d'Israël, d'éternité en éternité! Et que tout le peuple dise: Amen! Louez l'Éternel!
- Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting: and let all the people say, Amen. Praise ye the LORD. (Ⅱ) - εὐλογητὸς κύριος ὁ θεὸς Ισραηλ ἀπὸ του̃ αἰω̃νος καὶ ἕως του̃ αἰω̃νος καὶ ἐρει̃ πα̃ς ὁ λαός γένοιτο γένοιτο (Ⅲ) - Benedictus Dominus Deus Israël, a sæculo et usque in sæculum ;/ et dicet omnis populus : Fiat, fiat.] (Ⅳ) - 48 ׃106 ברוך יהוה אלהי ישראל מן העולם ועד העולם ואמר כל העם אמן הללו יה (Ⅴ)
