Au chef des chantres. Du serviteur de l'Éternel, de David, qui adressa à l'Éternel les paroles de ce cantique, lorsque l'Éternel l'eut délivré de la main de tous ses ennemis et de la main de Saül. Il dit:
- εἰς τὸ τέλος τω̨̃ παιδὶ κυρίου τω̨̃ Δαυιδ ἃ ἐλάλησεν τω̨̃ κυρίω̨ τοὺς λόγους τη̃ς ὠ̨δη̃ς ταύτης ἐν ἡμέρα̨ ἡ̨̃ ἐρρύσατο αὐτὸν κύριος ἐκ χειρὸς πάντων τω̃ν ἐχθρω̃ν αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐκ χειρὸς Σαουλ (Ⅲ) - In finem. Je t'aime, ô Éternel, ma force!

Éternel, mon rocher, ma forteresse, mon libérateur! Mon Dieu, mon rocher, où je trouve un abri! Mon bouclier, la force qui me sauve, ma haute retraite!
- The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. (Ⅱ) - κύριος στερέωμά μου καὶ καταφυγή μου καὶ ῥύστης μου ὁ θεός μου βοηθός μου καὶ ἐλπιω̃ ἐπ' αὐτόν ὑπερασπιστής μου καὶ κέρας σωτηρίας μου ἀντιλήμπτωρ μου (Ⅲ) - Dominus firmamentum meum, et refugium meum, et liberator meus./ Deus meus adjutor meus, et sperabo in eum ;/ protector meus, et cornu salutis meæ, et susceptor meus./ (Ⅳ) - 3 ׃18 יהוה סלעי ומצודתי ומפלטי אלי צורי אחסה בו מגני וקרן ישעי משגבי (Ⅴ)

Je m'écrie: Loué soit l'Éternel! Et je suis délivré de mes ennemis.

Dans ma détresse, j'ai invoqué l'Éternel, J'ai crié à mon Dieu; De son palais, il a entendu ma voix, Et mon cri est parvenu devant lui à ses oreilles.
- In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears. La terre fut ébranlée et trembla, Les fondements des montagnes frémirent, Et ils furent ébranlés, parce qu'il était irrité.
- Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐσαλεύθη καὶ ἔντρομος ἐγενήθη ἡ γη̃ καὶ τὰ θεμέλια τω̃ν ὀρέων ἐταράχθησαν καὶ ἐσαλεύθησαν ὅτι ὠργίσθη αὐτοι̃ς ὁ θεός (Ⅲ) - Commota est, et contremuit terra ;/ fundamenta montium conturbata sunt, et commota sunt :/ quoniam iratus est eis./ (Ⅳ) - 8 ׃18 ותגעש ותרעש הארץ ומוסדי הרים ירגזו ויתגעשו כי חרה לו (Ⅴ)

Il s'élevait de la fumée dans ses narines, Et un feu dévorant sortait de sa bouche: Il en jaillissait des charbons embrasés.
- There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it. (Ⅱ) - ἀνέβη καπνὸς ἐν ὀργη̨̃ αὐτου̃ καὶ πυ̃ρ ἀπὸ προσώπου αὐτου̃ κατεφλόγισεν ἄνθρακες ἀνήφθησαν ἀπ' αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - Ascendit fumus in ira ejus,/ et ignis a facie ejus exarsit ;/ carbones succensi sunt ab eo./ (Ⅳ) - 9 ׃18 עלה עשן באפו ואש מפיו תאכל גחלים בערו ממנו (Ⅴ)

Il abaissa les cieux, et il descendit: Il y avait une épaisse nuée sous ses pieds.

Il faisait des ténèbres sa retraite, sa tente autour de lui, Il était enveloppé des eaux obscures et de sombres nuages.
- He made darkness his secret place; his pavilion round about him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔθετο σκότος ἀποκρυφὴν αὐτου̃ κύκλω̨ αὐτου̃ ἡ σκηνὴ αὐτου̃ σκοτεινὸν ὕδωρ ἐν νεφέλαις ἀέρων (Ⅲ) - Et posuit tenebras latibulum suum ;/ in circuitu ejus tabernaculum ejus,/ tenebrosa aqua in nubibus aëris./ (Ⅳ) - 12 ׃18 ישת חשך סתרו סביבותיו סכתו חשכת מים עבי שחקים (Ⅴ)

De la splendeur qui le précédait s'échappaient les nuées, Lançant de la grêle et des charbons de feu.
- At the brightness that was before him his thick clouds passed, hail stones and coals of fire. (Ⅱ) - ἀπὸ τη̃ς τηλαυγήσεως ἐνώπιον αὐτου̃ αἱ νεφέλαι διη̃λθον χάλαζα καὶ ἄνθρακες πυρός (Ⅲ) - Præ fulgore in conspectu ejus nubes transierunt ;/ grando et carbones ignis./ (Ⅳ) - 13 ׃18 מנגה נגדו עביו עברו ברד וגחלי אש (Ⅴ)

L'Éternel tonna dans les cieux, Le Très Haut fit retentir sa voix, Avec la grêle et les charbons de feu.
- The LORD also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; hail stones and coals of fire. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐβρόντησεν ἐξ οὐρανου̃ κύριος καὶ ὁ ὕψιστος ἔδωκεν φωνὴν αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - Et intonuit de cælo Dominus,/ et Altissimus dedit vocem suam :/ grando et carbones ignis./ (Ⅳ) - 14 ׃18 וירעם בשמים יהוה ועליון יתן קלו ברד וגחלי אש (Ⅴ)

Il lança ses flèches et dispersa mes ennemis, Il multiplia les coups de la foudre et les mit en déroute.
- Yea, he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he shot out lightnings, and discomfited them. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐξαπέστειλεν βέλη καὶ ἐσκόρπισεν αὐτοὺς καὶ ἀστραπὰς ἐπλήθυνεν καὶ συνετάραξεν αὐτούς (Ⅲ) - Et misit sagittas suas, et dissipavit eos ;/ fulgura multiplicavit, et conturbavit eos./ (Ⅳ) - 15 ׃18 וישלח חציו ויפיצם וברקים רב ויהמם (Ⅴ)

Le lit des eaux apparut, Les fondements du monde furent découverts, Par ta menace, ô Éternel! Par le bruit du souffle de tes narines.
- Then the channels of waters were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered at thy rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ὤφθησαν αἱ πηγαὶ τω̃ν ὑδάτων καὶ ἀνεκαλύφθη τὰ θεμέλια τη̃ς οἰκουμένης ἀπὸ ἐπιτιμήσεώς σου κύριε ἀπὸ ἐμπνεύσεως πνεύματος ὀργη̃ς σου (Ⅲ) - Et apparuerunt fontes aquarum,/ et revelata sunt fundamenta orbis terrarum,/ ab increpatione tua, Domine,/ ab inspiratione spiritus iræ tuæ./ (Ⅳ) - 16 ׃18 ויראו אפיקי מים ויגלו מוסדות תבל מגערתך יהוה מנשמת רוח אפך (Ⅴ)

Il me délivra de mon adversaire puissant, De mes ennemis qui étaient plus forts que moi.
- He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me. Ils m'avaient surpris au jour de ma détresse; Mais l'Éternel fut mon appui.

- He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐξήγαγέν με εἰς πλατυσμόν ῥύσεταί με ὅτι ἠθέλησέν με ῥύσεταί με ἐξ ἐχθρω̃ν μου δυνατω̃ν καὶ ἐκ τω̃ν μισούντων με (Ⅲ) - Et eduxit me in latitudinem ;/ salvum me fecit, quoniam voluit me,/ (Ⅳ) - 20 ׃18 ויוציאני למרחב יחלצני כי חפץ בי (Ⅴ)

L'Éternel m'a traité selon ma droiture, Il m'a rendu selon la pureté de mes mains;
- The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀνταποδώσει μοι κύριος κατὰ τὴν δικαιοσύνην μου καὶ κατὰ τὴν καθαριότητα τω̃ν χειρω̃ν μου ἀνταποδώσει μοι (Ⅲ) - et retribuet mihi Dominus secundum justitiam meam,/ et secundum puritatem manuum mearum retribuet mihi :/ (Ⅳ) - 21 ׃18 יגמלני יהוה כצדקי כבר ידי ישיב לי (Ⅴ)

Car j'ai observé les voies de l'Éternel, Et je n'ai point été coupable envers mon Dieu.
- For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God. (Ⅱ) - ὅτι ἐφύλαξα τὰς ὁδοὺς κυρίου καὶ οὐκ ἠσέβησα ἀπὸ του̃ θεου̃ μου (Ⅲ) - quia custodivi vias Domini,/ nec impie gessi a Deo meo ;/ (Ⅳ) - 22 ׃18 כי שמרתי דרכי יהוה ולא רשעתי מאלהי (Ⅴ)

Toutes ses ordonnances ont été devant moi, Et je ne me suis point écarté de ses lois.
- For all his judgments were before me, and I did not put away his statutes from me. (Ⅱ) - ὅτι πάντα τὰ κρίματα αὐτου̃ ἐνώπιόν μου καὶ τὰ δικαιώματα αὐτου̃ οὐκ ἀπέστησα ἀπ' ἐμου̃ (Ⅲ) - quoniam omnia judicia ejus in conspectu meo,/ et justitias ejus non repuli a me./ (Ⅳ) - 23 ׃18 כי כל משפטיו לנגדי וחקתיו לא אסיר מני (Ⅴ)

J'ai été sans reproche envers lui, Et je me suis tenu en garde contre mon iniquité.
- I was also upright before him, and I kept myself from mine iniquity. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔσομαι ἄμωμος μετ' αὐτου̃ καὶ φυλάξομαι ἀπὸ τη̃ς ἀνομίας μου (Ⅲ) - Et ero immaculatus cum eo ;/ et observabo me ab iniquitate mea./ (Ⅳ) - 24 ׃18 ואהי תמים עמו ואשתמר מעוני (Ⅴ)

Aussi l'Éternel m'a rendu selon ma droiture, Selon la pureté de mes mains devant ses yeux.
- Therefore hath the LORD recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀνταποδώσει μοι κύριος κατὰ τὴν δικαιοσύνην μου καὶ κατὰ τὴν καθαριότητα τω̃ν χειρω̃ν μου ἐνώπιον τω̃ν ὀφθαλμω̃ν αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - Et retribuet mihi Dominus secundum justitiam meam,/ et secundum puritatem manuum mearum in conspectu oculorum ejus./ (Ⅳ) - 25 ׃18 וישב יהוה לי כצדקי כבר ידי לנגד עיניו (Ⅴ)

Avec celui qui est bon tu te montres bon, Avec l'homme droit tu agis selon la droiture,
- With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright; (Ⅱ) - μετὰ ὁσίου ὁσιωθήση̨ καὶ μετὰ ἀνδρὸς ἀθώ̨ου ἀθω̨̃ος ἔση̨ (Ⅲ) - Cum sancto sanctus eris,/ et cum viro innocente innocens eris,/ (Ⅳ) - 26 ׃18 עם חסיד תתחסד עם גבר תמים תתמם (Ⅴ)

Avec celui qui est pur tu te montres pur, Et avec le pervers tu agis selon sa perversité.
- With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself froward. (Ⅱ) - καὶ μετὰ ἐκλεκτου̃ ἐκλεκτὸς ἔση̨ καὶ μετὰ στρεβλου̃ διαστρέψεις (Ⅲ) - et cum electo electus eris,/ et cum perverso perverteris./ (Ⅳ) - 27 ׃18 עם נבר תתברר ועם עקש תתפתל (Ⅴ)

Tu sauves le peuple qui s'humilie, Et tu abaisses les regards hautains.
- For thou wilt save the afflicted people; but wilt bring down high looks. (Ⅱ) - ὅτι σὺ λαὸν ταπεινὸν σώσεις καὶ ὀφθαλμοὺς ὑπερηφάνων ταπεινώσεις (Ⅲ) - Quoniam tu populum humilem salvum facies,/ et oculos superborum humiliabis./ (Ⅳ) - 28 ׃18 כי אתה עם עני תושיע ועינים רמות תשפיל (Ⅴ)

Oui, tu fais briller ma lumière; L'Éternel, mon Dieu, éclaire mes ténèbres.
- For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness. (Ⅱ) - ὅτι σὺ φωτιει̃ς λύχνον μου κύριε ὁ θεός μου φωτιει̃ς τὸ σκότος μου (Ⅲ) - Quoniam tu illuminas lucernam meam, Domine ;/ Deus meus, illumina tenebras meas./ (Ⅳ) - 29 ׃18 כי אתה תאיר נרי יהוה אלהי יגיה חשכי (Ⅴ)

Avec toi je me précipite sur une troupe en armes, Avec mon Dieu je franchis une muraille.
- For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall. (Ⅱ) - ὅτι ἐν σοὶ ῥυσθήσομαι ἀπὸ πειρατηρίου καὶ ἐν τω̨̃ θεω̨̃ μου ὑπερβήσομαι τει̃χος (Ⅲ) - Quoniam in te eripiar a tentatione ;/ et in Deo meo transgrediar murum./ (Ⅳ) - 30 ׃18 כי בך ארץ גדוד ובאלהי אדלג שור (Ⅴ)

Les voies de Dieu sont parfaites, La parole de l'Éternel est éprouvée; Il est un bouclier pour tous ceux qui se confient en lui.
- As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him. (Ⅱ) - ὁ θεός μου ἄμωμος ἡ ὁδὸς αὐτου̃ τὰ λόγια κυρίου πεπυρωμένα ὑπερασπιστής ἐστιν πάντων τω̃ν ἐλπιζόντων ἐπ' αὐτόν (Ⅲ) - Deus meus, impolluta via ejus ;/ eloquia Domini igne examinata :/ protector est omnium sperantium in se./ (Ⅳ) - 31 ׃18 האל תמים דרכו אמרת יהוה צרופה מגן הוא לכל החסים בו (Ⅴ)

Car qui est Dieu, si ce n'est l'Éternel; Et qui est un rocher, si ce n'est notre Dieu?
- For who is God save the LORD? or who is a rock save our God? (Ⅱ) - ὅτι τίς θεὸς πλὴν του̃ κυρίου καὶ τίς θεὸς πλὴν του̃ θεου̃ ἡμω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Quoniam quis deus præter Dominum ?/ aut quis deus præter Deum nostrum ?/ (Ⅳ) - 32 ׃18 כי מי אלוה מבלעדי יהוה ומי צור זולתי אלהינו (Ⅴ)

C'est Dieu qui me ceint de force, Et qui me conduit dans la voie droite.
- It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect. (Ⅱ) - ὁ θεὸς ὁ περιζωννύων με δύναμιν καὶ ἔθετο ἄμωμον τὴν ὁδόν μου (Ⅲ) - Deus qui præcinxit me virtute,/ et posuit immaculatam viam meam ;/ (Ⅳ) - 33 ׃18 האל המאזרני חיל ויתן תמים דרכי (Ⅴ)

Il rend mes pieds semblables à ceux des biches, Et il me place sur mes lieux élevés.
- He maketh my feet like hinds' feet, and setteth me upon my high places. (Ⅱ) - ὁ καταρτιζόμενος τοὺς πόδας μου ὡς ἐλάφου καὶ ἐπὶ τὰ ὑψηλὰ ἱστω̃ν με (Ⅲ) - qui perfecit pedes meos tamquam cervorum,/ et super excelsa statuens me ;/ (Ⅳ) - 34 ׃18 משוה רגלי כאילות ועל במתי יעמידני (Ⅴ)

Il exerce mes mains au combat, Et mes bras tendent l'arc d'airain.
- He teacheth my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms. (Ⅱ) - διδάσκων χει̃ράς μου εἰς πόλεμον καὶ ἔθου τόξον χαλκου̃ν τοὺς βραχίονάς μου (Ⅲ) - qui docet manus meas ad prælium./ Et posuisti, ut arcum æreum, brachia mea,/ (Ⅳ) - 35 ׃18 מלמד ידי למלחמה ונחתה קשת נחושה זרועתי (Ⅴ)

Tu me donnes le bouclier de ton salut, Ta droite me soutient, Et je deviens grand par ta bonté.

- Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not slip. (Ⅱ) - ἐπλάτυνας τὰ διαβήματά μου ὑποκάτω μου καὶ οὐκ ἠσθένησαν τὰ ἴχνη μου (Ⅲ) - Dilatasti gressus meos subtus me,/ et non sunt infirmata vestigia mea./ (Ⅳ) - 37 ׃18 תרחיב צעדי תחתי ולא מעדו קרסלי (Ⅴ)

Je poursuis mes ennemis, je les atteins, Et je ne reviens pas avant de les avoir anéantis.
- I have pursued mine enemies, and overtaken them: neither did I turn again till they were consumed. (Ⅱ) - καταδιώξω τοὺς ἐχθρούς μου καὶ καταλήμψομαι αὐτοὺς καὶ οὐκ ἀποστραφήσομαι ἕως ἂν ἐκλίπωσιν (Ⅲ) - Persequar inimicos meos, et comprehendam illos ;/ et non convertar donec deficiant./ (Ⅳ) - 38 ׃18 ארדוף אויבי ואשיגם ולא אשוב[1] עד כלותם (Ⅴ)

Tu me ceins de force pour le combat, Tu fais plier sous moi mes adversaires.
- For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me. (Ⅱ) - καὶ περιέζωσάς με δύναμιν εἰς πόλεμον συνεπόδισας πάντας τοὺς ἐπανιστανομένους ἐπ' ἐμὲ ὑποκάτω μου (Ⅲ) - Et præcinxisti me virtute ad bellum,/ et supplantasti insurgentes in me subtus me./ (Ⅳ) - 40 ׃18 ותאזרני חיל למלחמה תכריע קמי תחתי (Ⅴ)

Ils crient, et personne pour les sauver! Ils crient à l'Éternel, et il ne leur répond pas!

Tu me délivres des dissensions du peuple; Tu me mets à la tête des nations; Un peuple que je ne connaissais pas m'est asservi.
- Thou hast delivered me from the strivings of the people; and thou hast made me the head of the heathen: a people whom I have not known shall serve me. (Ⅱ) - ῥύση̨ με ἐξ ἀντιλογιω̃ν λαου̃ καταστήσεις με εἰς κεφαλὴν ἐθνω̃ν λαός ὃν οὐκ ἔγνων ἐδούλευσέν μοι (Ⅲ) - Eripies me de contradictionibus populi ;/ constitues me in caput gentium./ (Ⅳ) - 44 ׃18 תפלטני מריבי עם תשימני לראש גוים עם לא ידעתי יעבדוני (Ⅴ)

- As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me. (Ⅱ) - εἰς ἀκοὴν ὠτίου ὑπήκουσέν μοι υἱοὶ ἀλλότριοι ἐψεύσαντό μοι (Ⅲ) - Populus quem non cognovi servivit mihi ;/ in auditu auris obedivit mihi./ (Ⅳ) - 45 ׃18 לשמע אזן ישמעו לי בני נכר יכחשו לי (Ⅴ)

Les fils de l'étranger sont en défaillance, Ils tremblent hors de leurs forteresses.

- He delivereth me from mine enemies: yea, thou liftest me up above those that rise up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man. C'est pourquoi je te louerai parmi les nations, ô Éternel! Et je chanterai à la gloire de ton nom.
- Therefore will I give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and sing praises unto thy name. (Ⅱ) - διὰ του̃το ἐξομολογήσομαί σοι ἐν ἔθνεσιν κύριε καὶ τω̨̃ ὀνόματί σου ψαλω̃ (Ⅲ) - Propterea confitebor tibi in nationibus, Domine,/ et nomini tuo psalmum dicam ;/ (Ⅳ) - 50 ׃18 על כן אודך בגוים יהוה ולשמך אזמרה (Ⅴ)
