78. 1

Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth.

- Cantique d'Asaph. Mon peuple, écoute mes instructions! Prêtez l'oreille aux paroles de ma bouche! (Ⅱ)

- συνέσεως τω̨̃ Ασαφ προσέχετε λαός μου τὸν νόμον μου κλίνατε τὸ οὐ̃ς ὑμω̃ν εἰς τὰ ῥήματα του̃ στόματός μου (Ⅲ)

- Intellectus Asaph. [Attendite, popule meus, legem meam ;/ inclinate aurem vestram in verba oris mei./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 1 ׃78 משכיל לאסף האזינה עמי תורתי הטו אזנכם לאמרי פי ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 2

I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:

- J'ouvre la bouche par des sentences, Je publie la sagesse des temps anciens. (Ⅱ)

- ἀνοίξω ἐν παραβολαι̃ς τὸ στόμα μου φθέγξομαι προβλήματα ἀπ' ἀρχη̃ς (Ⅲ)

- Aperiam in parabolis os meum ;/ loquar propositiones ab initio./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 2 ׃78 אפתחה במשל פי אביעה חידות מני קדם ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 3

Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.

- Ce que nous avons entendu, ce que nous savons, Ce que nos pères nous ont raconté, (Ⅱ)

- ὅσα ἠκούσαμεν καὶ ἔγνωμεν αὐτὰ καὶ οἱ πατέρες ἡμω̃ν διηγήσαντο ἡμι̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Quanta audivimus, et cognovimus ea,/ et patres nostri narraverunt nobis./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 3 ׃78 אשר שמענו ונדעם ואבותינו ספרו לנו ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 4

We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.

- Nous ne le cacherons point à leurs enfants; Nous dirons à la génération future les louanges de l'Éternel, Et sa puissance, et les prodiges qu'il a opérés. (Ⅱ)

- οὐκ ἐκρύβη ἀπὸ τω̃ν τέκνων αὐτω̃ν εἰς γενεὰν ἑτέραν ἀπαγγέλλοντες τὰς αἰνέσεις του̃ κυρίου καὶ τὰς δυναστείας αὐτου̃ καὶ τὰ θαυμάσια αὐτου̃ ἃ ἐποίησεν (Ⅲ)

- Non sunt occultata a filiis eorum in generatione altera,/ narrantes laudes Domini et virtutes ejus,/ et mirabilia ejus quæ fecit./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 4 ׃78 לא נכחד מבניהם לדור אחרון מספרים תהלות יהוה ועזוזו ונפלאותיו אשר עשה ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 5

For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children:

- Il a établi un témoignage en Jacob, Il a mis une loi en Israël, Et il a ordonné à nos pères de l'enseigner à leurs enfants, (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀνέστησεν μαρτύριον ἐν Ιακωβ καὶ νόμον ἔθετο ἐν Ισραηλ ὅσα ἐνετείλατο τοι̃ς πατράσιν ἡμω̃ν του̃ γνωρίσαι αὐτὰ τοι̃ς υἱοι̃ς αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Et suscitavit testimonium in Jacob,/ et legem posuit in Israël,/ quanta mandavit patribus nostris/ nota facere ea filiis suis :/ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 5 ׃78 ויקם עדות ביעקב ותורה שם בישראל אשר צוה את אבותינו להודיעם לבניהם ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 6

That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:

- Pour qu'elle fût connue de la génération future, Des enfants qui naîtraient, Et que, devenus grands, ils en parlassent à leurs enfants, (Ⅱ)

- ὅπως ἂν γνω̨̃ γενεὰ ἑτέρα υἱοὶ οἱ τεχθησόμενοι καὶ ἀναστήσονται καὶ ἀπαγγελου̃σιν αὐτὰ τοι̃ς υἱοι̃ς αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- ut cognoscat generatio altera :/ filii qui nascentur et exsurgent,/ et narrabunt filiis suis,/ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 6 ׃78 למען ידעו דור אחרון בנים יולדו יקמו ויספרו לבניהם ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 7

That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments:

- Afin qu'ils missent en Dieu leur confiance, Qu'ils n'oubliassent pas les oeuvres de Dieu, Et qu'ils observassent ses commandements, (Ⅱ)

- ἵνα θω̃νται ἐπὶ τὸν θεὸν τὴν ἐλπίδα αὐτω̃ν καὶ μὴ ἐπιλάθωνται τω̃ν ἔργων του̃ θεου̃ καὶ τὰς ἐντολὰς αὐτου̃ ἐκζητήσουσιν (Ⅲ)

- ut ponant in Deo spem suam,/ et non obliviscantur operum Dei,/ et mandata ejus exquirant :/ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 7 ׃78 וישימו באלהים כסלם ולא ישכחו מעללי אל ומצותיו ינצרו ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 8

And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God.

- Afin qu'ils ne fussent pas, comme leurs pères, Une race indocile et rebelle, Une race dont le coeur n'était pas ferme, Et dont l'esprit n'était pas fidèle à Dieu. (Ⅱ)

- ἵνα μὴ γένωνται ὡς οἱ πατέρες αὐτω̃ν γενεὰ σκολιὰ καὶ παραπικραίνουσα γενεά ἥτις οὐ κατηύθυνεν τὴν καρδίαν αὐτη̃ς καὶ οὐκ ἐπιστώθη μετὰ του̃ θεου̃ τὸ πνευ̃μα αὐτη̃ς (Ⅲ)

- ne fiant, sicut patres eorum,/ generatio prava et exasperans ;/ generatio quæ non direxit cor suum,/ et non est creditus cum Deo spiritus ejus./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 8 ׃78 ולא יהיו כאבותם דור סורר ומרה דור לא הכין לבו ולא נאמנה את אל רוחו ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 9

The children of Ephraim, being armed, and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle.

- Les fils d'Éphraïm, armés et tirant de l'arc, Tournèrent le dos le jour du combat. (Ⅱ)

- υἱοὶ Εφραιμ ἐντείνοντες καὶ βάλλοντες τόξοις ἐστράφησαν ἐν ἡμέρα̨ πολέμου (Ⅲ)

- Filii Ephrem, intendentes et mittentes arcum,/ conversi sunt in die belli./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 9 ׃78 בני אפרים נושקי רומי קשת הפכו ביום קרב ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 10

They kept not the covenant of God, and refused to walk in his law;

- Ils ne gardèrent point l'alliance de Dieu, Et ils refusèrent de marcher selon sa loi. (Ⅱ)

- οὐκ ἐφύλαξαν τὴν διαθήκην του̃ θεου̃ καὶ ἐν τω̨̃ νόμω̨ αὐτου̃ οὐκ ἤθελον πορεύεσθαι (Ⅲ)

- Non custodierunt testamentum Dei,/ et in lege ejus noluerunt ambulare./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 10 ׃78 לא שמרו ברית אלהים ובתורתו מאנו ללכת ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 11

And forgat his works, and his wonders that he had shewed them.

- Ils mirent en oubli ses oeuvres, Ses merveilles qu'il leur avait fait voir. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐπελάθοντο τω̃ν εὐεργεσιω̃ν αὐτου̃ καὶ τω̃ν θαυμασίων αὐτου̃ ὡ̃ν ἔδειξεν αὐτοι̃ς (Ⅲ)

- Et obliti sunt benefactorum ejus,/ et mirabilium ejus quæ ostendit eis./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 11 ׃78 וישכחו עלילותיו ונפלאותיו אשר הראם ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 12

Marvellous things did he in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.

- Devant leurs pères il avait fait des prodiges, Au pays d'Égypte, dans les campagnes de Tsoan. (Ⅱ)

- ἐναντίον τω̃ν πατέρων αὐτω̃ν ἃ ἐποίησεν θαυμάσια ἐν γη̨̃ Αἰγύπτω̨ ἐν πεδίω̨ Τάνεως (Ⅲ)

- Coram patribus eorum fecit mirabilia/ in terra Ægypti, in campo Taneos./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 12 ׃78 נגד אבותם עשה פלא בארץ מצרים שדה צען ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 13

He divided the sea, and caused them to pass through; and he made the waters to stand as an heap.

- Il fendit la mer et leur ouvrit un passage, Il fit dresser les eaux comme une muraille. (Ⅱ)

- διέρρηξεν θάλασσαν καὶ διήγαγεν αὐτούς ἔστησεν ὕδατα ὡσεὶ ἀσκὸν (Ⅲ)

- Interrupit mare, et perduxit eos,/ et statuit aquas quasi in utre :/ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 13 ׃78 בקע ים ויעבירם ויצב מים כמו נד ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 14

In the daytime also he led them with a cloud, and all the night with a light of fire.

- Il les conduisit le jour par la nuée, Et toute la nuit par un feu éclatant. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ὡδήγησεν αὐτοὺς ἐν νεφέλη̨ ἡμέρας καὶ ὅλην τὴν νύκτα ἐν φωτισμω̨̃ πυρός (Ⅲ)

- et deduxit eos in nube diei,/ et tota nocte in illuminatione ignis./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 14 ׃78 וינחם בענן יומם וכל הלילה באור אש ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 15

He clave the rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink as out of the great depths.

- Il fendit des rochers dans le désert, Et il donna à boire comme des flots abondants; (Ⅱ)

- διέρρηξεν πέτραν ἐν ἐρήμω̨ καὶ ἐπότισεν αὐτοὺς ὡς ἐν ἀβύσσω̨ πολλη̨̃ (Ⅲ)

- Interrupit petram in eremo,/ et adaquavit eos velut in abysso multa./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 15 ׃78 יבקע צרים במדבר וישק כתהמות רבה ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 16

He brought streams also out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers.

- Du rocher il fit jaillir des sources, Et couler des eaux comme des fleuves. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐξήγαγεν ὕδωρ ἐκ πέτρας καὶ κατήγαγεν ὡς ποταμοὺς ὕδατα (Ⅲ)

- Et eduxit aquam de petra,/ et deduxit tamquam flumina aquas./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 16 ׃78 ויוצא נוזלים מסלע ויורד כנהרות מים ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 17

And they sinned yet more against him by provoking the most High in the wilderness.

- Mais ils continuèrent à pécher contre lui, A se révolter contre le Très Haut dans le désert. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ προσέθεντο ἔτι του̃ ἁμαρτάνειν αὐτω̨̃ παρεπίκραναν τὸν ὕψιστον ἐν ἀνύδρω̨ (Ⅲ)

- Et apposuerunt adhuc peccare ei ;/ in iram excitaverunt Excelsum in inaquoso./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 17 ׃78 ויוסיפו עוד‪[c]‬ לחטא לו למרות עליון בציה ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 18

And they tempted God in their heart by asking meat for their lust.

- Ils tentèrent Dieu dans leur coeur, En demandant de la nourriture selon leur désir. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐξεπείρασαν τὸν θεὸν ἐν ται̃ς καρδίαις αὐτω̃ν του̃ αἰτη̃σαι βρώματα ται̃ς ψυχαι̃ς αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Et tentaverunt Deum in cordibus suis,/ ut peterent escas animabus suis./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 18 ׃78 וינסו אל בלבבם לשאל אכל לנפשם ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 19

Yea, they spake against God; they said, Can God furnish a table in the wilderness?

- Ils parlèrent contre Dieu, Ils dirent: Dieu pourrait-il Dresser une table dans le désert? (Ⅱ)

- καὶ κατελάλησαν του̃ θεου̃ καὶ εἰ̃παν μὴ δυνήσεται ὁ θεὸς ἑτοιμάσαι τράπεζαν ἐν ἐρήμω̨ (Ⅲ)

- Et male locuti sunt de Deo ;/ dixerunt : Numquid poterit Deus parare mensam in deserto ?/ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 19 ׃78 וידברו באלהים אמרו היוכל אל לערך שלחן במדבר ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 20

Behold, he smote the rock, that the waters gushed out, and the streams overflowed; can he give bread also? can he provide flesh for his people?

- Voici, il a frappé le rocher, et des eaux ont coulé, Et des torrents se sont répandus; Pourra-t-il aussi donner du pain, Ou fournir de la viande à son peuple? (Ⅱ)

- ἐπεὶ ἐπάταξεν πέτραν καὶ ἐρρύησαν ὕδατα καὶ χείμαρροι κατεκλύσθησαν μὴ καὶ ἄρτον δύναται δου̃ναι ἢ ἑτοιμάσαι τράπεζαν τω̨̃ λαω̨̃ αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- quoniam percussit petram, et fluxerunt aquæ,/ et torrentes inundaverunt./ Numquid et panem poterit dare,/ aut parare mensam populo suo ?/ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 20 ׃78 הן הכה צור ויזובו מים ונחלים ישטפו הגם לחם יוכל תת אם יכין שאר לעמו ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 21

Therefore the LORD heard this, and was wroth: so a fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also came up against Israel;

- L'Éternel entendit, et il fut irrité; Un feu s'alluma contre Jacob, Et la colère s'éleva contre Israël, (Ⅱ)

- διὰ του̃το ἤκουσεν κύριος καὶ ἀνεβάλετο καὶ πυ̃ρ ἀνήφθη ἐν Ιακωβ καὶ ὀργὴ ἀνέβη ἐπὶ τὸν Ισραηλ (Ⅲ)

- Ideo audivit Dominus et distulit ;/ et ignis accensus est in Jacob,/ et ira ascendit in Israël :/ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 21 ׃78 לכן שמע יהוה ויתעבר ואש נשקה ביעקב וגם אף עלה בישראל ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 22

Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in his salvation:

- Parce qu'ils ne crurent pas en Dieu, Parce qu'ils n'eurent pas confiance dans son secours. (Ⅱ)

- ὅτι οὐκ ἐπίστευσαν ἐν τω̨̃ θεω̨̃ οὐδὲ ἤλπισαν ἐπὶ τὸ σωτήριον αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- quia non crediderunt in Deo,/ nec speraverunt in salutari ejus./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 22 ׃78 כי לא האמינו באלהים ולא בטחו בישועתו ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 23

Though he had commanded the clouds from above, and opened the doors of heaven,

- Il commanda aux nuages d'en haut, Et il ouvrit les portes des cieux; (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐνετείλατο νεφέλαις ὑπεράνωθεν καὶ θύρας οὐρανου̃ ἀνέω̨ξεν (Ⅲ)

- Et mandavit nubibus desuper,/ et januas cæli aperuit./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 23 ׃78 ויצו שחקים ממעל ודלתי שמים פתח ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 24

And had rained down manna upon them to eat, and had given them of the corn of heaven.

- Il fit pleuvoir sur eux la manne pour nourriture, Il leur donna le blé du ciel. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἔβρεξεν αὐτοι̃ς μαννα φαγει̃ν καὶ ἄρτον οὐρανου̃ ἔδωκεν αὐτοι̃ς (Ⅲ)

- Et pluit illis manna ad manducandum,/ et panem cæli dedit eis./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 24 ׃78 וימטר עליהם מן לאכל ודגן שמים נתן למו ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 25

Man did eat angels' food: he sent them meat to the full.

- Ils mangèrent tous le pain des grands, Il leur envoya de la nourriture à satiété. (Ⅱ)

- ἄρτον ἀγγέλων ἔφαγεν ἄνθρωπος ἐπισιτισμὸν ἀπέστειλεν αὐτοι̃ς εἰς πλησμονήν (Ⅲ)

- Panem angelorum manducavit homo ;/ cibaria misit eis in abundantia./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 25 ׃78 לחם אבירים אכל איש צידה שלח להם לשבע ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 26

He caused an east wind to blow in the heaven: and by his power he brought in the south wind.

- Il fit souffler dans les cieux le vent d'orient, Et il amena par sa puissance le vent du midi; (Ⅱ)

- ἀπη̃ρεν νότον ἐξ οὐρανου̃ καὶ ἐπήγαγεν ἐν τη̨̃ δυναστεία̨ αὐτου̃ λίβα (Ⅲ)

- Transtulit austrum de cælo,/ et induxit in virtute sua africum./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 26 ׃78 יסע קדים בשמים וינהג בעזו תימן ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 27

He rained flesh also upon them as dust, and feathered fowls like as the sand of the sea:

- Il fit pleuvoir sur eux la viande comme de la poussière, Et comme le sable des mers les oiseaux ailés; (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἔβρεξεν ἐπ' αὐτοὺς ὡσεὶ χου̃ν σάρκας καὶ ὡσεὶ ἄμμον θαλασσω̃ν πετεινὰ πτερωτά (Ⅲ)

- Et pluit super eos sicut pulverem carnes,/ et sicut arenam maris volatilia pennata./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 27 ׃78 וימטר עליהם כעפר שאר וכחול ימים עוף כנף ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 28

And he let it fall in the midst of their camp, round about their habitations.

- Il les fit tomber au milieu de leur camp, Tout autour de leurs demeures. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐπέπεσον εἰς μέσον τη̃ς παρεμβολη̃ς αὐτω̃ν κύκλω̨ τω̃ν σκηνωμάτων αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Et ceciderunt in medio castrorum eorum,/ circa tabernacula eorum./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 28 ׃78 ויפל בקרב מחנהו סביב למשכנתיו ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 29

So they did eat, and were well filled: for he gave them their own desire;

- Ils mangèrent et se rassasièrent abondamment: Dieu leur donna ce qu'ils avaient désiré. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐφάγοσαν καὶ ἐνεπλήσθησαν σφόδρα καὶ τὴν ἐπιθυμίαν αὐτω̃ν ἤνεγκεν αὐτοι̃ς (Ⅲ)

- Et manducaverunt, et saturati sunt nimis,/ et desiderium eorum attulit eis :/ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 29 ׃78 ויאכלו וישבעו מאד ותאותם יבא להם ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 30

They were not estranged from their lust. But while their meat was yet in their mouths,

- Ils n'avaient pas satisfait leur désir, Ils avaient encore leur nourriture dans la bouche, (Ⅱ)

- οὐκ ἐστερήθησαν ἀπὸ τη̃ς ἐπιθυμίας αὐτω̃ν ἔτι τη̃ς βρώσεως αὐτω̃ν οὔσης ἐν τω̨̃ στόματι αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- non sunt fraudati a desiderio suo./ Adhuc escæ eorum erant in ore ipsorum,/ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 30 ׃78 לא זרו מתאותם עוד אכלם בפיהם ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 31

The wrath of God came upon them, and slew the fattest of them, and smote down the chosen men of Israel.

- Lorsque la colère de Dieu s'éleva contre eux; Il frappa de mort les plus vigoureux, Il abattit les jeunes hommes d'Israël. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ὀργὴ του̃ θεου̃ ἀνέβη ἐπ' αὐτοὺς καὶ ἀπέκτεινεν ἐν τοι̃ς πίοσιν αὐτω̃ν καὶ τοὺς ἐκλεκτοὺς του̃ Ισραηλ συνεπόδισεν (Ⅲ)

- et ira Dei ascendit super eos :/ et occidit pingues eorum,/ et electos Israël impedivit./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 31 ׃78 ואף אלהים עלה בהם ויהרג במשמניהם ובחורי ישראל הכריע ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 32

For all this they sinned still, and believed not for his wondrous works.

- Malgré tout cela, ils continuèrent à pécher, Et ne crurent point à ses prodiges. (Ⅱ)

- ἐν πα̃σιν τούτοις ἥμαρτον ἔτι καὶ οὐκ ἐπίστευσαν ἐν τοι̃ς θαυμασίοις αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- In omnibus his peccaverunt adhuc,/ et non crediderunt in mirabilibus ejus./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 32 ׃78 בכל זאת חטאו עוד ולא האמינו בנפלאותיו ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 33

Therefore their days did he consume in vanity, and their years in trouble.

- Il consuma leurs jours par la vanité, Et leurs années par une fin soudaine. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐξέλιπον ἐν ματαιότητι αἱ ἡμέραι αὐτω̃ν καὶ τὰ ἔτη αὐτω̃ν μετὰ σπουδη̃ς (Ⅲ)

- Et defecerunt in vanitate dies eorum,/ et anni eorum cum festinatione./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 33 ׃78 ויכל בהבל ימיהם ושנותם בבהלה ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 34

When he slew them, then they sought him: and they returned and enquired early after God.

- Quand il les frappait de mort, ils le cherchaient, Ils revenaient et se tournaient vers Dieu; (Ⅱ)

- ὅταν ἀπέκτεννεν αὐτούς ἐξεζήτουν αὐτὸν καὶ ἐπέστρεφον καὶ ὤρθριζον πρὸς τὸν θεὸν (Ⅲ)

- Cum occideret eos, quærebant eum et revertebantur,/ et diluculo veniebant ad eum./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 34 ׃78 אם הרגם ודרשוהו ושבו ושחרו אל ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 35

And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God their redeemer.

- Ils se souvenaient que Dieu était leur rocher, Que le Dieu Très Haut était leur libérateur. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐμνήσθησαν ὅτι ὁ θεὸς βοηθὸς αὐτω̃ν ἐστιν καὶ ὁ θεὸς ὁ ὕψιστος λυτρωτὴς αὐτω̃ν ἐστιν (Ⅲ)

- Et rememorati sunt quia Deus adjutor est eorum,/ et Deus excelsus redemptor eorum est./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 35 ׃78 ויזכרו כי אלהים צורם ואל עליון גאלם ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 36

Nevertheless they did flatter him with their mouth, and they lied unto him with their tongues.

- Mais ils le trompaient de la bouche, Et ils lui mentaient de la langue; (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἠπάτησαν αὐτὸν ἐν τω̨̃ στόματι αὐτω̃ν καὶ τη̨̃ γλώσση̨ αὐτω̃ν ἐψεύσαντο αὐτω̨̃ (Ⅲ)

- Et dilexerunt eum in ore suo,/ et lingua sua mentiti sunt ei ;/ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 36 ׃78 ויפתוהו בפיהם ובלשונם יכזבו לו ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 37

For their heart was not right with him, neither were they stedfast in his covenant.

- Leur coeur n'était pas ferme envers lui, Et ils n'étaient pas fidèles à son alliance. (Ⅱ)

- ἡ δὲ καρδία αὐτω̃ν οὐκ εὐθει̃α μετ' αὐτου̃ οὐδὲ ἐπιστώθησαν ἐν τη̨̃ διαθήκη̨ αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- cor autem eorum non erat rectum cum eo,/ nec fideles habiti sunt in testamento ejus./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 37 ׃78 ולבם לא נכון עמו ולא נאמנו בבריתו ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 38

But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath.

- Toutefois, dans sa miséricorde, il pardonne l'iniquité et ne détruit pas; Il retient souvent sa colère et ne se livre pas à toute sa fureur. (Ⅱ)

- αὐτὸς δέ ἐστιν οἰκτίρμων καὶ ἱλάσεται ται̃ς ἁμαρτίαις αὐτω̃ν καὶ οὐ διαφθερει̃ καὶ πληθυνει̃ του̃ ἀποστρέψαι τὸν θυμὸν αὐτου̃ καὶ οὐχὶ ἐκκαύσει πα̃σαν τὴν ὀργὴν αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Ipse autem est misericors,/ et propitius fiet peccatis eorum,/ et non disperdet eos./ Et abundavit ut averteret iram suam,/ et non accendit omnem iram suam./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 38 ׃78 והוא רחום יכפר עון ולא ישחית והרבה להשיב אפו ולא יעיר כל חמתו ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 39

For he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that passeth away, and cometh not again.

- Il se souvint qu'ils n'étaient que chair, Un souffle qui s'en va et ne revient pas. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐμνήσθη ὅτι σάρξ εἰσιν πνευ̃μα πορευόμενον καὶ οὐκ ἐπιστρέφον (Ⅲ)

- Et recordatus est quia caro sunt,/ spiritus vadens et non rediens./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 39 ׃78 ויזכר כי בשר המה רוח הולך ולא ישוב ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 40

How oft did they provoke him in the wilderness, and grieve him in the desert!

- Que de fois ils se révoltèrent contre lui dans le désert! Que de fois ils l'irritèrent dans la solitude! (Ⅱ)

- ποσάκις παρεπίκραναν αὐτὸν ἐν τη̨̃ ἐρήμω̨ παρώργισαν αὐτὸν ἐν γη̨̃ ἀνύδρω̨ (Ⅲ)

- Quoties exacerbaverunt eum in deserto ;/ in iram concitaverunt eum in inaquoso ?/ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 40 ׃78 כמה ימרוהו במדבר יעציבוהו בישימון ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 41

Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.

- Ils ne cessèrent de tenter Dieu, Et de provoquer le Saint d'Israël. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐπέστρεψαν καὶ ἐπείρασαν τὸν θεὸν καὶ τὸν ἅγιον του̃ Ισραηλ παρώξυναν (Ⅲ)

- Et conversi sunt, et tentaverunt Deum,/ et sanctum Israël exacerbaverunt./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 41 ׃78 וישובו וינסו אל וקדוש ישראל התוו‪[1]‬ ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 42

They remembered not his hand, nor the day when he delivered them from the enemy.

- Ils ne se souvinrent pas de sa puissance, Du jour où il les délivra de l'ennemi, (Ⅱ)

- οὐκ ἐμνήσθησαν τη̃ς χειρὸς αὐτου̃ ἡμέρας ἡ̃ς ἐλυτρώσατο αὐτοὺς ἐκ χειρὸς θλίβοντος (Ⅲ)

- Non sunt recordati manus ejus,/ die qua redemit eos de manu tribulantis :/ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 42 ׃78 לא זכרו את ידו יום אשר פדם מני צר ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 43

How he had wrought his signs in Egypt, and his wonders in the field of Zoan.

- Des miracles qu'il accomplit en Égypte, Et de ses prodiges dans les campagnes de Tsoan. (Ⅱ)

- ὡς ἔθετο ἐν Αἰγύπτω̨ τὰ σημει̃α αὐτου̃ καὶ τὰ τέρατα αὐτου̃ ἐν πεδίω̨ Τάνεως (Ⅲ)

- sicut posuit in Ægypto signa sua,/ et prodigia sua in campo Taneos ;/ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 43 ׃78 אשר שם במצרים אתותיו ומופתיו בשדה צען ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 44

And had turned their rivers into blood; and their floods, that they could not drink.

- Il changea leurs fleuves en sang, Et ils ne purent en boire les eaux. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ μετέστρεψεν εἰς αἱ̃μα τοὺς ποταμοὺς αὐτω̃ν καὶ τὰ ὀμβρήματα αὐτω̃ν ὅπως μὴ πίωσιν (Ⅲ)

- et convertit in sanguinem flumina eorum,/ et imbres eorum, ne biberent./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 44 ׃78 ויהפך לדם יאריהם ונזליהם בל ישתיון ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 45

He sent divers sorts of flies among them, which devoured them; and frogs, which destroyed them.

- Il envoya contre eux des mouches venimeuses qui les dévorèrent, Et des grenouilles qui les détruisirent. (Ⅱ)

- ἐξαπέστειλεν εἰς αὐτοὺς κυνόμυιαν καὶ κατέφαγεν αὐτούς καὶ βάτραχον καὶ διέφθειρεν αὐτούς (Ⅲ)

- Misit in eos cœnomyiam, et comedit eos,/ et ranam, et disperdidit eos ;/ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 45 ׃78 ישלח בהם ערב ויאכלם וצפרדע ותשחיתם ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 46

He gave also their increase unto the caterpiller, and their labour unto the locust.

- Il livra leurs récoltes aux sauterelles, Le produit de leur travail aux sauterelles. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἔδωκεν τη̨̃ ἐρυσίβη̨ τὸν καρπὸν αὐτω̃ν καὶ τοὺς πόνους αὐτω̃ν τη̨̃ ἀκρίδι (Ⅲ)

- et dedit ærugini fructus eorum,/ et labores eorum locustæ ;/ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 46 ׃78 ויתן לחסיל יבולם ויגיעם לארבה ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 47

He destroyed their vines with hail, and their sycomore trees with frost.

- Il fit périr leurs vignes par la grêle, Et leurs sycomores par la gelée. (Ⅱ)

- ἀπέκτεινεν ἐν χαλάζη̨ τὴν ἄμπελον αὐτω̃ν καὶ τὰς συκαμίνους αὐτω̃ν ἐν τη̨̃ πάχνη̨ (Ⅲ)

- et occidit in grandine vineas eorum,/ et moros eorum in pruina ;/ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 47 ׃78 יהרג בברד גפנם ושקמותם בחנמל ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 48

He gave up their cattle also to the hail, and their flocks to hot thunderbolts.

- Il abandonna leur bétail à la grêle, Et leurs troupeaux au feu du ciel. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ παρέδωκεν εἰς χάλαζαν τὰ κτήνη αὐτω̃ν καὶ τὴν ὕπαρξιν αὐτω̃ν τω̨̃ πυρί (Ⅲ)

- et tradidit grandini jumenta eorum,/ et possessionem eorum igni ;/ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 48 ׃78 ויסגר לברד בעירם ומקניהם לרשפים ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 49

He cast upon them the fierceness of his anger, wrath, and indignation, and trouble, by sending evil angels among them.

- Il lança contre eux son ardente colère, La fureur, la rage et la détresse, Une troupe de messagers de malheur. (Ⅱ)

- ἐξαπέστειλεν εἰς αὐτοὺς ὀργὴν θυμου̃ αὐτου̃ θυμὸν καὶ ὀργὴν καὶ θλι̃ψιν ἀποστολὴν δι' ἀγγέλων πονηρω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- misit in eos iram indignationis suæ,/ indignationem, et iram, et tribulationem,/ immissiones per angelos malos./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 49 ׃78 ישלח בם חרון אפו עברה וזעם וצרה משלחת מלאכי רעים ‬ (Ⅴ)

78. 50

He made a way to his anger; he spared not their soul from death, but gave their life over to the pestilence;

- Il donna libre cours à sa colère, Il ne sauva pas leur âme de la mort, Il livra leur vie à la mortalité; (Ⅱ)

- ὡδοποίησεν τρίβον τη̨̃ ὀργη̨̃ αὐτου̃ οὐκ ἐφείσατο ἀπὸ θανάτου τω̃ν ψυχω̃ν αὐτω̃ν καὶ τὰ κτήνη αὐτω̃ν εἰς θάνατον συνέκλεισεν (Ⅲ)

- Viam fecit semitæ iræ suæ :/ non pepercit a morte animabus eorum,/ et jumenta eorum in morte conclusit :/ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 50 ׃78 יפלס נתיב לאפו לא חשך ממות נפשם וחיתם לדבר הסגיר ‬ (Ⅴ)
