- Cantique d'Asaph. Mon peuple, écoute mes instructions! Prêtez l'oreille aux paroles de ma bouche! (Ⅱ) - Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth. Aperiam in parabolis os meum ;/ loquar propositiones ab initio./
- J'ouvre la bouche par des sentences, Je publie la sagesse des temps anciens. (Ⅱ) - I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old: (Ⅲ) - ἀνοίξω ἐν παραβολαι̃ς τὸ στόμα μου φθέγξομαι προβλήματα ἀπ' ἀρχη̃ς (Ⅳ) - 2 ׃78 אפתחה במשל פי אביעה חידות מני קדם (Ⅴ)

Quanta audivimus, et cognovimus ea,/ et patres nostri narraverunt nobis./
- Ce que nous avons entendu, ce que nous savons, Ce que nos pères nous ont raconté, (Ⅱ) - Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us. (Ⅲ) - ὅσα ἠκούσαμεν καὶ ἔγνωμεν αὐτὰ καὶ οἱ πατέρες ἡμω̃ν διηγήσαντο ἡμι̃ν (Ⅳ) - 3 ׃78 אשר שמענו ונדעם ואבותינו ספרו לנו (Ⅴ)

Non sunt occultata a filiis eorum in generatione altera,/ narrantes laudes Domini et virtutes ejus,/ et mirabilia ejus quæ fecit./
- Nous ne le cacherons point à leurs enfants; Nous dirons à la génération future les louanges de l'Éternel, Et sa puissance, et les prodiges qu'il a opérés. (Ⅱ) - We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done. (Ⅲ) - οὐκ ἐκρύβη ἀπὸ τω̃ν τέκνων αὐτω̃ν εἰς γενεὰν ἑτέραν ἀπαγγέλλοντες τὰς αἰνέσεις του̃ κυρίου καὶ τὰς δυναστείας αὐτου̃ καὶ τὰ θαυμάσια αὐτου̃ ἃ ἐποίησεν (Ⅳ) - 4 ׃78 לא נכחד מבניהם לדור אחרון מספרים תהלות יהוה ועזוזו ונפלאותיו אשר עשה (Ⅴ)

Et suscitavit testimonium in Jacob,/ et legem posuit in Israël,/ quanta mandavit patribus nostris/ nota facere ea filiis suis :/
- Il a établi un témoignage en Jacob, Il a mis une loi en Israël, Et il a ordonné à nos pères de l'enseigner à leurs enfants, (Ⅱ) - For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children: (Ⅲ) - καὶ ἀνέστησεν μαρτύριον ἐν Ιακωβ καὶ νόμον ἔθετο ἐν Ισραηλ ὅσα ἐνετείλατο τοι̃ς πατράσιν ἡμω̃ν του̃ γνωρίσαι αὐτὰ τοι̃ς υἱοι̃ς αὐτω̃ν (Ⅳ) - 5 ׃78 ויקם עדות ביעקב ותורה שם בישראל אשר צוה את אבותינו להודיעם לבניהם (Ⅴ)

ut cognoscat generatio altera :/ filii qui nascentur et exsurgent,/ et narrabunt filiis suis,/
- Pour qu'elle fût connue de la génération future, Des enfants qui naîtraient, Et que, devenus grands, ils en parlassent à leurs enfants, (Ⅱ) - That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children: (Ⅲ) - ὅπως ἂν γνω̨̃ γενεὰ ἑτέρα υἱοὶ οἱ τεχθησόμενοι καὶ ἀναστήσονται καὶ ἀπαγγελου̃σιν αὐτὰ τοι̃ς υἱοι̃ς αὐτω̃ν (Ⅳ) - 6 ׃78 למען ידעו דור אחרון בנים יולדו יקמו ויספרו לבניהם (Ⅴ)

ut ponant in Deo spem suam,/ et non obliviscantur operum Dei,/ et mandata ejus exquirant :/
- Afin qu'ils missent en Dieu leur confiance, Qu'ils n'oubliassent pas les oeuvres de Dieu, Et qu'ils observassent ses commandements, (Ⅱ) - That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments: (Ⅲ) - ἵνα θω̃νται ἐπὶ τὸν θεὸν τὴν ἐλπίδα αὐτω̃ν καὶ μὴ ἐπιλάθωνται τω̃ν ἔργων του̃ θεου̃ καὶ τὰς ἐντολὰς αὐτου̃ ἐκζητήσουσιν (Ⅳ) - 7 ׃78 וישימו באלהים כסלם ולא ישכחו מעללי אל ומצותיו ינצרו (Ⅴ)

ne fiant, sicut patres eorum,/ generatio prava et exasperans ;/ generatio quæ non direxit cor suum,/ et non est creditus cum Deo spiritus ejus./
- Afin qu'ils ne fussent pas, comme leurs pères, Une race indocile et rebelle, Une race dont le coeur n'était pas ferme, Et dont l'esprit n'était pas fidèle à Dieu. (Ⅱ) - And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God. (Ⅲ) - ἵνα μὴ γένωνται ὡς οἱ πατέρες αὐτω̃ν γενεὰ σκολιὰ καὶ παραπικραίνουσα γενεά ἥτις οὐ κατηύθυνεν τὴν καρδίαν αὐτη̃ς καὶ οὐκ ἐπιστώθη μετὰ του̃ θεου̃ τὸ πνευ̃μα αὐτη̃ς (Ⅳ) - 8 ׃78 ולא יהיו כאבותם דור סורר ומרה דור לא הכין לבו ולא נאמנה את אל רוחו (Ⅴ)

Filii Ephrem, intendentes et mittentes arcum,/ conversi sunt in die belli./
- Les fils d'Éphraïm, armés et tirant de l'arc, Tournèrent le dos le jour du combat. (Ⅱ) - The children of Ephraim, being armed, and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle. (Ⅲ) - υἱοὶ Εφραιμ ἐντείνοντες καὶ βάλλοντες τόξοις ἐστράφησαν ἐν ἡμέρα̨ πολέμου (Ⅳ) - 9 ׃78 בני אפרים נושקי רומי קשת הפכו ביום קרב (Ⅴ)

Non custodierunt testamentum Dei,/ et in lege ejus noluerunt ambulare./
- Ils ne gardèrent point l'alliance de Dieu, Et ils refusèrent de marcher selon sa loi. (Ⅱ) - They kept not the covenant of God, and refused to walk in his law; (Ⅲ) - οὐκ ἐφύλαξαν τὴν διαθήκην του̃ θεου̃ καὶ ἐν τω̨̃ νόμω̨ αὐτου̃ οὐκ ἤθελον πορεύεσθαι (Ⅳ) - 10 ׃78 לא שמרו ברית אלהים ובתורתו מאנו ללכת (Ⅴ)

Et obliti sunt benefactorum ejus,/ et mirabilium ejus quæ ostendit eis./
- Ils mirent en oubli ses oeuvres, Ses merveilles qu'il leur avait fait voir. (Ⅱ) - And forgat his works, and his wonders that he had shewed them. (Ⅲ) - καὶ ἐπελάθοντο τω̃ν εὐεργεσιω̃ν αὐτου̃ καὶ τω̃ν θαυμασίων αὐτου̃ ὡ̃ν ἔδειξεν αὐτοι̃ς (Ⅳ) - 11 ׃78 וישכחו עלילותיו ונפלאותיו אשר הראם (Ⅴ)

Coram patribus eorum fecit mirabilia/ in terra Ægypti, in campo Taneos./
- Devant leurs pères il avait fait des prodiges, Au pays d'Égypte, dans les campagnes de Tsoan. (Ⅱ) - Marvellous things did he in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan. (Ⅲ) - ἐναντίον τω̃ν πατέρων αὐτω̃ν ἃ ἐποίησεν θαυμάσια ἐν γη̨̃ Αἰγύπτω̨ ἐν πεδίω̨ Τάνεως (Ⅳ) - 12 ׃78 נגד אבותם עשה פלא בארץ מצרים שדה צען (Ⅴ)

Interrupit mare, et perduxit eos,/ et statuit aquas quasi in utre :/
- Il fendit la mer et leur ouvrit un passage, Il fit dresser les eaux comme une muraille. (Ⅱ) - He divided the sea, and caused them to pass through; and he made the waters to stand as an heap. (Ⅲ) - διέρρηξεν θάλασσαν καὶ διήγαγεν αὐτούς ἔστησεν ὕδατα ὡσεὶ ἀσκὸν (Ⅳ) - 13 ׃78 בקע ים ויעבירם ויצב מים כמו נד (Ⅴ)

et deduxit eos in nube diei,/ et tota nocte in illuminatione ignis./
- Il les conduisit le jour par la nuée, Et toute la nuit par un feu éclatant. (Ⅱ) - In the daytime also he led them with a cloud, and all the night with a light of fire. (Ⅲ) - καὶ ὡδήγησεν αὐτοὺς ἐν νεφέλη̨ ἡμέρας καὶ ὅλην τὴν νύκτα ἐν φωτισμω̨̃ πυρός (Ⅳ) - 14 ׃78 וינחם בענן יומם וכל הלילה באור אש (Ⅴ)

Interrupit petram in eremo,/ et adaquavit eos velut in abysso multa./
- Il fendit des rochers dans le désert, Et il donna à boire comme des flots abondants; (Ⅱ) - He clave the rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink as out of the great depths. (Ⅲ) - διέρρηξεν πέτραν ἐν ἐρήμω̨ καὶ ἐπότισεν αὐτοὺς ὡς ἐν ἀβύσσω̨ πολλη̨̃ (Ⅳ) - 15 ׃78 יבקע צרים במדבר וישק כתהמות רבה (Ⅴ)

Et eduxit aquam de petra,/ et deduxit tamquam flumina aquas./
- Du rocher il fit jaillir des sources, Et couler des eaux comme des fleuves. (Ⅱ) - He brought streams also out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers. (Ⅲ) - καὶ ἐξήγαγεν ὕδωρ ἐκ πέτρας καὶ κατήγαγεν ὡς ποταμοὺς ὕδατα (Ⅳ) - 16 ׃78 ויוצא נוזלים מסלע ויורד כנהרות מים (Ⅴ)

Et apposuerunt adhuc peccare ei ;/ in iram excitaverunt Excelsum in inaquoso./
- Mais ils continuèrent à pécher contre lui, A se révolter contre le Très Haut dans le désert. (Ⅱ) - And they sinned yet more against him by provoking the most High in the wilderness. (Ⅲ) - καὶ προσέθεντο ἔτι του̃ ἁμαρτάνειν αὐτω̨̃ παρεπίκραναν τὸν ὕψιστον ἐν ἀνύδρω̨ (Ⅳ) - 17 ׃78 ויוסיפו עוד[c] לחטא לו למרות עליון בציה (Ⅴ)

Et tentaverunt Deum in cordibus suis,/ ut peterent escas animabus suis./
- Ils tentèrent Dieu dans leur coeur, En demandant de la nourriture selon leur désir. (Ⅱ) - And they tempted God in their heart by asking meat for their lust. (Ⅲ) - καὶ ἐξεπείρασαν τὸν θεὸν ἐν ται̃ς καρδίαις αὐτω̃ν του̃ αἰτη̃σαι βρώματα ται̃ς ψυχαι̃ς αὐτω̃ν (Ⅳ) - 18 ׃78 וינסו אל בלבבם לשאל אכל לנפשם (Ⅴ)

Et male locuti sunt de Deo ;/ dixerunt : Numquid poterit Deus parare mensam in deserto ?/
- Ils parlèrent contre Dieu, Ils dirent: Dieu pourrait-il Dresser une table dans le désert? (Ⅱ) - Yea, they spake against God; they said, Can God furnish a table in the wilderness? (Ⅲ) - καὶ κατελάλησαν του̃ θεου̃ καὶ εἰ̃παν μὴ δυνήσεται ὁ θεὸς ἑτοιμάσαι τράπεζαν ἐν ἐρήμω̨ (Ⅳ) - 19 ׃78 וידברו באלהים אמרו היוכל אל לערך שלחן במדבר (Ⅴ)

quoniam percussit petram, et fluxerunt aquæ,/ et torrentes inundaverunt./ Numquid et panem poterit dare,/ aut parare mensam populo suo ?/
- Voici, il a frappé le rocher, et des eaux ont coulé, Et des torrents se sont répandus; Pourra-t-il aussi donner du pain, Ou fournir de la viande à son peuple? (Ⅱ) - Behold, he smote the rock, that the waters gushed out, and the streams overflowed; can he give bread also? can he provide flesh for his people? (Ⅲ) - ἐπεὶ ἐπάταξεν πέτραν καὶ ἐρρύησαν ὕδατα καὶ χείμαρροι κατεκλύσθησαν μὴ καὶ ἄρτον δύναται δου̃ναι ἢ ἑτοιμάσαι τράπεζαν τω̨̃ λαω̨̃ αὐτου̃ (Ⅳ) - 20 ׃78 הן הכה צור ויזובו מים ונחלים ישטפו הגם לחם יוכל תת אם יכין שאר לעמו (Ⅴ)

Ideo audivit Dominus et distulit ;/ et ignis accensus est in Jacob,/ et ira ascendit in Israël :/
- L'Éternel entendit, et il fut irrité; Un feu s'alluma contre Jacob, Et la colère s'éleva contre Israël, (Ⅱ) - Therefore the LORD heard this, and was wroth: so a fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also came up against Israel; (Ⅲ) - διὰ του̃το ἤκουσεν κύριος καὶ ἀνεβάλετο καὶ πυ̃ρ ἀνήφθη ἐν Ιακωβ καὶ ὀργὴ ἀνέβη ἐπὶ τὸν Ισραηλ (Ⅳ) - 21 ׃78 לכן שמע יהוה ויתעבר ואש נשקה ביעקב וגם אף עלה בישראל (Ⅴ)

quia non crediderunt in Deo,/ nec speraverunt in salutari ejus./
- Parce qu'ils ne crurent pas en Dieu, Parce qu'ils n'eurent pas confiance dans son secours. (Ⅱ) - Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in his salvation: (Ⅲ) - ὅτι οὐκ ἐπίστευσαν ἐν τω̨̃ θεω̨̃ οὐδὲ ἤλπισαν ἐπὶ τὸ σωτήριον αὐτου̃ (Ⅳ) - 22 ׃78 כי לא האמינו באלהים ולא בטחו בישועתו (Ⅴ)

Et mandavit nubibus desuper,/ et januas cæli aperuit./
- Il commanda aux nuages d'en haut, Et il ouvrit les portes des cieux; (Ⅱ) - Though he had commanded the clouds from above, and opened the doors of heaven, (Ⅲ) - καὶ ἐνετείλατο νεφέλαις ὑπεράνωθεν καὶ θύρας οὐρανου̃ ἀνέω̨ξεν (Ⅳ) - 23 ׃78 ויצו שחקים ממעל ודלתי שמים פתח (Ⅴ)

Et pluit illis manna ad manducandum,/ et panem cæli dedit eis./
- Il fit pleuvoir sur eux la manne pour nourriture, Il leur donna le blé du ciel. (Ⅱ) - And had rained down manna upon them to eat, and had given them of the corn of heaven. (Ⅲ) - καὶ ἔβρεξεν αὐτοι̃ς μαννα φαγει̃ν καὶ ἄρτον οὐρανου̃ ἔδωκεν αὐτοι̃ς (Ⅳ) - 24 ׃78 וימטר עליהם מן לאכל ודגן שמים נתן למו (Ⅴ)

Panem angelorum manducavit homo ;/ cibaria misit eis in abundantia./
- Ils mangèrent tous le pain des grands, Il leur envoya de la nourriture à satiété. (Ⅱ) - Man did eat angels' food: he sent them meat to the full. (Ⅲ) - ἄρτον ἀγγέλων ἔφαγεν ἄνθρωπος ἐπισιτισμὸν ἀπέστειλεν αὐτοι̃ς εἰς πλησμονήν (Ⅳ) - 25 ׃78 לחם אבירים אכל איש צידה שלח להם לשבע (Ⅴ)

Transtulit austrum de cælo,/ et induxit in virtute sua africum./
- Il fit souffler dans les cieux le vent d'orient, Et il amena par sa puissance le vent du midi; (Ⅱ) - He caused an east wind to blow in the heaven: and by his power he brought in the south wind. (Ⅲ) - ἀπη̃ρεν νότον ἐξ οὐρανου̃ καὶ ἐπήγαγεν ἐν τη̨̃ δυναστεία̨ αὐτου̃ λίβα (Ⅳ) - 26 ׃78 יסע קדים בשמים וינהג בעזו תימן (Ⅴ)

Et pluit super eos sicut pulverem carnes,/ et sicut arenam maris volatilia pennata./
- Il fit pleuvoir sur eux la viande comme de la poussière, Et comme le sable des mers les oiseaux ailés; (Ⅱ) - He rained flesh also upon them as dust, and feathered fowls like as the sand of the sea: (Ⅲ) - καὶ ἔβρεξεν ἐπ' αὐτοὺς ὡσεὶ χου̃ν σάρκας καὶ ὡσεὶ ἄμμον θαλασσω̃ν πετεινὰ πτερωτά (Ⅳ) - 27 ׃78 וימטר עליהם כעפר שאר וכחול ימים עוף כנף (Ⅴ)

Et ceciderunt in medio castrorum eorum,/ circa tabernacula eorum./
- Il les fit tomber au milieu de leur camp, Tout autour de leurs demeures. (Ⅱ) - And he let it fall in the midst of their camp, round about their habitations. (Ⅲ) - καὶ ἐπέπεσον εἰς μέσον τη̃ς παρεμβολη̃ς αὐτω̃ν κύκλω̨ τω̃ν σκηνωμάτων αὐτω̃ν (Ⅳ) - 28 ׃78 ויפל בקרב מחנהו סביב למשכנתיו (Ⅴ)

Et manducaverunt, et saturati sunt nimis,/ et desiderium eorum attulit eis :/
- Ils mangèrent et se rassasièrent abondamment: Dieu leur donna ce qu'ils avaient désiré. (Ⅱ) - So they did eat, and were well filled: for he gave them their own desire; (Ⅲ) - καὶ ἐφάγοσαν καὶ ἐνεπλήσθησαν σφόδρα καὶ τὴν ἐπιθυμίαν αὐτω̃ν ἤνεγκεν αὐτοι̃ς (Ⅳ) - 29 ׃78 ויאכלו וישבעו מאד ותאותם יבא להם (Ⅴ)

non sunt fraudati a desiderio suo./ Adhuc escæ eorum erant in ore ipsorum,/
- Ils n'avaient pas satisfait leur désir, Ils avaient encore leur nourriture dans la bouche, (Ⅱ) - They were not estranged from their lust. But while their meat was yet in their mouths, (Ⅲ) - οὐκ ἐστερήθησαν ἀπὸ τη̃ς ἐπιθυμίας αὐτω̃ν ἔτι τη̃ς βρώσεως αὐτω̃ν οὔσης ἐν τω̨̃ στόματι αὐτω̃ν (Ⅳ) - 30 ׃78 לא זרו מתאותם עוד אכלם בפיהם (Ⅴ)

et ira Dei ascendit super eos :/ et occidit pingues eorum,/ et electos Israël impedivit./
- Lorsque la colère de Dieu s'éleva contre eux; Il frappa de mort les plus vigoureux, Il abattit les jeunes hommes d'Israël. (Ⅱ) - The wrath of God came upon them, and slew the fattest of them, and smote down the chosen men of Israel. (Ⅲ) - καὶ ὀργὴ του̃ θεου̃ ἀνέβη ἐπ' αὐτοὺς καὶ ἀπέκτεινεν ἐν τοι̃ς πίοσιν αὐτω̃ν καὶ τοὺς ἐκλεκτοὺς του̃ Ισραηλ συνεπόδισεν (Ⅳ) - 31 ׃78 ואף אלהים עלה בהם ויהרג במשמניהם ובחורי ישראל הכריע (Ⅴ)

In omnibus his peccaverunt adhuc,/ et non crediderunt in mirabilibus ejus./
- Malgré tout cela, ils continuèrent à pécher, Et ne crurent point à ses prodiges. (Ⅱ) - For all this they sinned still, and believed not for his wondrous works. (Ⅲ) - ἐν πα̃σιν τούτοις ἥμαρτον ἔτι καὶ οὐκ ἐπίστευσαν ἐν τοι̃ς θαυμασίοις αὐτου̃ (Ⅳ) - 32 ׃78 בכל זאת חטאו עוד ולא האמינו בנפלאותיו (Ⅴ)

Et defecerunt in vanitate dies eorum,/ et anni eorum cum festinatione./
- Il consuma leurs jours par la vanité, Et leurs années par une fin soudaine. (Ⅱ) - Therefore their days did he consume in vanity, and their years in trouble. (Ⅲ) - καὶ ἐξέλιπον ἐν ματαιότητι αἱ ἡμέραι αὐτω̃ν καὶ τὰ ἔτη αὐτω̃ν μετὰ σπουδη̃ς (Ⅳ) - 33 ׃78 ויכל בהבל ימיהם ושנותם בבהלה (Ⅴ)

Cum occideret eos, quærebant eum et revertebantur,/ et diluculo veniebant ad eum./
- Quand il les frappait de mort, ils le cherchaient, Ils revenaient et se tournaient vers Dieu; (Ⅱ) - When he slew them, then they sought him: and they returned and enquired early after God. (Ⅲ) - ὅταν ἀπέκτεννεν αὐτούς ἐξεζήτουν αὐτὸν καὶ ἐπέστρεφον καὶ ὤρθριζον πρὸς τὸν θεὸν (Ⅳ) - 34 ׃78 אם הרגם ודרשוהו ושבו ושחרו אל (Ⅴ)

Et rememorati sunt quia Deus adjutor est eorum,/ et Deus excelsus redemptor eorum est./
- Ils se souvenaient que Dieu était leur rocher, Que le Dieu Très Haut était leur libérateur. (Ⅱ) - And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God their redeemer. (Ⅲ) - καὶ ἐμνήσθησαν ὅτι ὁ θεὸς βοηθὸς αὐτω̃ν ἐστιν καὶ ὁ θεὸς ὁ ὕψιστος λυτρωτὴς αὐτω̃ν ἐστιν (Ⅳ) - 35 ׃78 ויזכרו כי אלהים צורם ואל עליון גאלם (Ⅴ)

- Leur coeur n'était pas ferme envers lui, Et ils n'étaient pas fidèles à son alliance. (Ⅱ) - For their heart was not right with him, neither were they stedfast in his covenant. (Ⅲ) - ἡ δὲ καρδία αὐτω̃ν οὐκ εὐθει̃α μετ' αὐτου̃ οὐδὲ ἐπιστώθησαν ἐν τη̨̃ διαθήκη̨ αὐτου̃ (Ⅳ) - 37 ׃78 ולבם לא נכון עמו ולא נאמנו בבריתו (Ⅴ)

Ipse autem est misericors,/ et propitius fiet peccatis eorum,/ et non disperdet eos./ Et abundavit ut averteret iram suam,/ et non accendit omnem iram suam./
- Toutefois, dans sa miséricorde, il pardonne l'iniquité et ne détruit pas; Il retient souvent sa colère et ne se livre pas à toute sa fureur. (Ⅱ) - But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath. (Ⅲ) - αὐτὸς δέ ἐστιν οἰκτίρμων καὶ ἱλάσεται ται̃ς ἁμαρτίαις αὐτω̃ν καὶ οὐ διαφθερει̃ καὶ πληθυνει̃ του̃ ἀποστρέψαι τὸν θυμὸν αὐτου̃ καὶ οὐχὶ ἐκκαύσει πα̃σαν τὴν ὀργὴν αὐτου̃ (Ⅳ) - 38 ׃78 והוא רחום יכפר עון ולא ישחית והרבה להשיב אפו ולא יעיר כל חמתו (Ⅴ)

Et recordatus est quia caro sunt,/ spiritus vadens et non rediens./
- Il se souvint qu'ils n'étaient que chair, Un souffle qui s'en va et ne revient pas. (Ⅱ) - For he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that passeth away, and cometh not again. (Ⅲ) - καὶ ἐμνήσθη ὅτι σάρξ εἰσιν πνευ̃μα πορευόμενον καὶ οὐκ ἐπιστρέφον (Ⅳ) - 39 ׃78 ויזכר כי בשר המה רוח הולך ולא ישוב (Ⅴ)

Quoties exacerbaverunt eum in deserto ;/ in iram concitaverunt eum in inaquoso ?/
- Que de fois ils se révoltèrent contre lui dans le désert! Que de fois ils l'irritèrent dans la solitude! (Ⅱ) - How oft did they provoke him in the wilderness, and grieve him in the desert! (Ⅱ) - He sent divers sorts of flies among them, which devoured them; and frogs, which destroyed them. - Il lança contre eux son ardente colère, La fureur, la rage et la détresse, Une troupe de messagers de malheur. (Ⅱ) - He cast upon them the fierceness of his anger, wrath, and indignation, and trouble, by sending evil angels among them. (Ⅲ) - ἐξαπέστειλεν εἰς αὐτοὺς ὀργὴν θυμου̃ αὐτου̃ θυμὸν καὶ ὀργὴν καὶ θλι̃ψιν ἀποστολὴν δι' ἀγγέλων πονηρω̃ν (Ⅳ) - 49 ׃78 ישלח בם חרון אפו עברה וזעם וצרה משלחת מלאכי רעים (Ⅴ)

Viam fecit semitæ iræ suæ :/ non pepercit a morte animabus eorum,/ et jumenta eorum in morte conclusit :/
- Il donna libre cours à sa colère, Il ne sauva pas leur âme de la mort, Il livra leur vie à la mortalité; (Ⅱ) - He made a way to his anger; he spared not their soul from death, but gave their life over to the pestilence; (Ⅲ) - ὡδοποίησεν τρίβον τη̨̃ ὀργη̨̃ αὐτου̃ οὐκ ἐφείσατο ἀπὸ θανάτου τω̃ν ψυχω̃ν αὐτω̃ν καὶ τὰ κτήνη αὐτω̃ν εἰς θάνατον συνέκλεισεν (Ⅳ) - 50 ׃78 יפלס נתיב לאפו לא חשך ממות נפשם וחיתם לדבר הסגיר (Ⅴ)
