32. 1

And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

- Le peuple, voyant que Moïse tardait à descendre de la montagne, s'assembla autour d'Aaron, et lui dit: Allons! fais-nous un dieu qui marche devant nous, car ce Moïse, cet homme qui nous a fait sortir du pays d'Égypte, nous ne savons ce qu'il est devenu. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἰδὼν ὁ λαὸς ὅτι κεχρόνικεν Μωυση̃ς καταβη̃ναι ἐκ του̃ ὄρους συνέστη ὁ λαὸς ἐπὶ Ααρων καὶ λέγουσιν αὐτω̨̃ ἀνάστηθι καὶ ποίησον ἡμι̃ν θεούς οἳ προπορεύσονται ἡμω̃ν ὁ γὰρ Μωυση̃ς οὑ̃τος ὁ ἄνθρωπος ὃς ἐξήγαγεν ἡμα̃ς ἐξ Αἰγύπτου οὐκ οἴδαμεν τί γέγονεν αὐτω̨̃ (Ⅲ)

- Videns autem populus quod moram faceret descendendi de monte Moyses, congregatus adversus Aaron, dixit : Surge, fac nobis deos, qui nos præcedant : Moysi enim huic viro, qui nos eduxit de terra Ægypti, ignoramus quid acciderit. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 1 ׃32 וירא העם כי בשש משה לרדת מן ההר ויקהל העם על אהרן ויאמרו אליו קום עשה לנו אלהים אשר ילכו לפנינו כי זה משה האיש אשר העלנו מארץ מצרים לא ידענו מה היה לו ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 2

And Aaron said unto them, Break off the golden earrings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them unto me.

- Aaron leur dit: Otez les anneaux d'or qui sont aux oreilles de vos femmes, de vos fils et de vos filles, et apportez-les-moi. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ λέγει αὐτοι̃ς Ααρων περιέλεσθε τὰ ἐνώτια τὰ χρυσα̃ τὰ ἐν τοι̃ς ὠσὶν τω̃ν γυναικω̃ν ὑμω̃ν καὶ θυγατέρων καὶ ἐνέγκατε πρός με (Ⅲ)

- Dixitque ad eos Aaron : Tollite inaures aureas de uxorum, filiorumque et filiarum vestrarum auribus, et afferte ad me. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 2 ׃32 ויאמר אלהם אהרן פרקו נזמי הזהב אשר באזני נשיכם בניכם ובנתיכם והביאו אלי ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 3

And all the people brake off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron.

- Et tous ôtèrent les anneaux d'or qui étaient à leurs oreilles, et ils les apportèrent à Aaron. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ περιείλαντο πα̃ς ὁ λαὸς τὰ ἐνώτια τὰ χρυσα̃ τὰ ἐν τοι̃ς ὠσὶν αὐτω̃ν καὶ ἤνεγκαν πρὸς Ααρων (Ⅲ)

- Fecitque populus quæ jusserat, deferens inaures ad Aaron. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 3 ׃32 ויתפרקו כל העם את נזמי הזהב אשר באזניהם ויביאו אל אהרן ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 4

And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

- Il les reçut de leurs mains, jeta l'or dans un moule, et fit un veau en fonte. Et ils dirent: Israël! voici ton dieu, qui t'a fait sortir du pays d'Égypte. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐδέξατο ἐκ τω̃ν χειρω̃ν αὐτω̃ν καὶ ἔπλασεν αὐτὰ ἐν τη̨̃ γραφίδι καὶ ἐποίησεν αὐτὰ μόσχον χωνευτὸν καὶ εἰ̃πεν οὑ̃τοι οἱ θεοί σου Ισραηλ οἵτινες ἀνεβίβασάν σε ἐκ γη̃ς Αἰγύπτου (Ⅲ)

- Quas cum ille accepisset, formavit opere fusorio, et fecit ex eis vitulum conflatilem : dixeruntque : Hi sunt dii tui Israël, qui te eduxerunt de terra Ægypti. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 4 ׃32 ויקח מידם ויצר אתו בחרט ויעשהו עגל מסכה ויאמרו אלה אלהיך ישראל אשר העלוך מארץ מצרים ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 5

And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, To morrow is a feast to the LORD.

- Lorsqu'Aaron vit cela, il bâtit un autel devant lui, et il s'écria: Demain, il y aura fête en l'honneur de l'Éternel! (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἰδὼν Ααρων ὠ̨κοδόμησεν θυσιαστήριον κατέναντι αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐκήρυξεν Ααρων λέγων ἑορτὴ του̃ κυρίου αὔριον (Ⅲ)

- Quod cum vidisset Aaron, ædificavit altare coram eo, et præconis voce clamavit dicens : Cras solemnitas Domini est. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 5 ׃32 וירא אהרן ויבן מזבח לפניו ויקרא אהרן ויאמר חג ליהוה מחר ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 6

And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.

- Le lendemain, ils se levèrent de bon matin, et ils offrirent des holocaustes et des sacrifices d'actions de grâces. Le peuple s'assit pour manger et pour boire; puis ils se levèrent pour se divertir. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ὀρθρίσας τη̨̃ ἐπαύριον ἀνεβίβασεν ὁλοκαυτώματα καὶ προσήνεγκεν θυσίαν σωτηρίου καὶ ἐκάθισεν ὁ λαὸς φαγει̃ν καὶ πιει̃ν καὶ ἀνέστησαν παίζειν (Ⅲ)

- Surgentesque mane, obtulerunt holocausta, et hostias pacificas, et sedit populus manducare, et bibere, et surrexerunt ludere.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 6 ׃32 וישכימו ממחרת ויעלו עלת ויגשו שלמים וישב העם לאכל ושתו ויקמו לצחק פ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 7

And the LORD said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves:

- L'Éternel dit à Moïse: Va, descends; car ton peuple, que tu as fait sortir du pays d'Égypte, s'est corrompu. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐλάλησεν κύριος πρὸς Μωυση̃ν λέγων βάδιζε τὸ τάχος ἐντευ̃θεν κατάβηθι ἠνόμησεν γὰρ ὁ λαός σου οὓς ἐξήγαγες ἐκ γη̃ς Αἰγύπτου (Ⅲ)

- Locutus est autem Dominus ad Moysen, dicens : Vade, descende : peccavit populus tuus, quem eduxisti de terra Ægypti. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 7 ׃32 וידבר יהוה אל משה לך רד כי שחת עמך אשר העלית מארץ מצרים ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 8

They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

- Ils se sont promptement écartés de la voie que je leur avais prescrite; ils se sont fait un veau en fonte, ils se sont prosternés devant lui, ils lui ont offert des sacrifices, et ils ont dit: Israël! voici ton dieu, qui t'a fait sortir du pays d'Égypte. (Ⅱ)

- παρέβησαν ταχὺ ἐκ τη̃ς ὁδου̃ ἡ̃ς ἐνετείλω αὐτοι̃ς ἐποίησαν ἑαυτοι̃ς μόσχον καὶ προσκεκυνήκασιν αὐτω̨̃ καὶ τεθύκασιν αὐτω̨̃ καὶ εἰ̃παν οὑ̃τοι οἱ θεοί σου Ισραηλ οἵτινες ἀνεβίβασάν σε ἐκ γη̃ς Αἰγύπτου (Ⅲ)

- Recesserunt cito de via, quam ostendisti eis : feceruntque sibi vitulum conflatilem, et adoraverunt, atque immolantes ei hostias, dixerunt : Isti sunt dii tui Israël, qui te eduxerunt de terra Ægypti. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 8 ׃32 סרו מהר מן הדרך אשר צויתם עשו להם עגל מסכה וישתחוו לו ויזבחו לו ויאמרו אלה אלהיך ישראל אשר העלוך מארץ מצרים ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 9

And the LORD said unto Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people:

- L'Éternel dit à Moïse: Je vois que ce peuple est un peuple au cou roide. (Ⅱ)

- Rursumque ait Dominus ad Moysen : Cerno quod populus iste duræ cervicis sit : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 9 ׃32 ויאמר יהוה אל משה ראיתי את העם הזה והנה עם קשה ערף הוא ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 10

Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation.

- Maintenant laisse-moi; ma colère va s'enflammer contre eux, et je les consumerai; mais je ferai de toi une grande nation. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ νυ̃ν ἔασόν με καὶ θυμωθεὶς ὀργη̨̃ εἰς αὐτοὺς ἐκτρίψω αὐτοὺς καὶ ποιήσω σὲ εἰς ἔθνος μέγα (Ⅲ)

- dimitte me, ut irascatur furor meus contra eos, et deleam eos, faciamque te in gentem magnam. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 10 ׃32 ועתה הניחה לי ויחר אפי בהם ואכלם ואעשה אותך לגוי גדול ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 11

And Moses besought the LORD his God, and said, LORD, why doth thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand?

- Moïse implora l'Éternel, son Dieu, et dit: Pourquoi, ô Éternel! ta colère s'enflammerait-elle contre ton peuple, que tu as fait sortir du pays d'Égypte par une grande puissance et par une main forte? (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐδεήθη Μωυση̃ς ἔναντι κυρίου του̃ θεου̃ καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἵνα τί κύριε θυμοι̃ ὀργη̨̃ εἰς τὸν λαόν σου οὓς ἐξήγαγες ἐκ γη̃ς Αἰγύπτου ἐν ἰσχύι μεγάλη̨ καὶ ἐν τω̨̃ βραχίονί σου τω̨̃ ὑψηλω̨̃ (Ⅲ)

- Moyses autem orabat Dominum Deum suum, dicens : Cur, Domine, irascitur furor tuus contra populum tuum, quem eduxisti de terra Ægypti, in fortitudine magna, et in manu robusta ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 11 ׃32 ויחל משה את פני יהוה אלהיו ויאמר למה יהוה יחרה אפך בעמך אשר הוצאת מארץ מצרים בכח גדול וביד חזקה ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 12

Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against thy people.

- Pourquoi les Égyptiens diraient-ils: C'est pour leur malheur qu'il les a fait sortir, c'est pour les tuer dans les montagnes, et pour les exterminer de dessus la terre? Reviens de l'ardeur de ta colère, et repens-toi du mal que tu veux faire à ton peuple. (Ⅱ)

- μήποτε εἴπωσιν οἱ Αἰγύπτιοι λέγοντες μετὰ πονηρίας ἐξήγαγεν αὐτοὺς ἀποκτει̃ναι ἐν τοι̃ς ὄρεσιν καὶ ἐξαναλω̃σαι αὐτοὺς ἀπὸ τη̃ς γη̃ς παυ̃σαι τη̃ς ὀργη̃ς του̃ θυμου̃ σου καὶ ἵλεως γενου̃ ἐπὶ τη̨̃ κακία̨ του̃ λαου̃ σου (Ⅲ)

- Ne quæso dicant Ægyptii : Callide eduxit eos, ut interficeret in montibus, et deleret e terra : quiescat ira tua, et esto placabilis super nequitia populi tui. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 12 ׃32 למה יאמרו מצרים לאמר ברעה הוציאם להרג אתם בהרים ולכלתם מעל פני האדמה שוב מחרון אפך והנחם על הרעה לעמך ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 13

Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy servants, to whom thou swarest by thine own self, and saidst unto them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your seed, and they shall inherit it for ever.

- Souviens-toi d'Abraham, d'Isaac et d'Israël, tes serviteurs, auxquels tu as dit, en jurant par toi-même: Je multiplierai votre postérité comme les étoiles du ciel, je donnerai à vos descendants tout ce pays dont j'ai parlé, et ils le posséderont à jamais. (Ⅱ)

- μνησθεὶς Αβρααμ καὶ Ισαακ καὶ Ιακωβ τω̃ν σω̃ν οἰκετω̃ν οἱ̃ς ὤμοσας κατὰ σεαυτου̃ καὶ ἐλάλησας πρὸς αὐτοὺς λέγων πολυπληθυνω̃ τὸ σπέρμα ὑμω̃ν ὡσεὶ τὰ ἄστρα του̃ οὐρανου̃ τω̨̃ πλήθει καὶ πα̃σαν τὴν γη̃ν ταύτην ἣν εἰ̃πας δου̃ναι τω̨̃ σπέρματι αὐτω̃ν καὶ καθέξουσιν αὐτὴν εἰς τὸν αἰω̃να (Ⅲ)

- Recordare Abraham, Isaac, et Israël servorum tuorum, quibus jurasti per temetipsum, dicens : Multiplicabo semen vestrum sicut stellas cæli ; et universam terram hanc, de qua locutus sum, dabo semini vestro, et possidebitis eam semper. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 13 ׃32 זכר לאברהם ליצחק ולישראל עבדיך אשר נשבעת להם בך ותדבר אלהם ארבה את זרעכם ככוכבי השמים וכל הארץ הזאת אשר אמרתי אתן לזרעכם ונחלו לעלם ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 14

And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people.

- Et l'Éternel se repentit du mal qu'il avait déclaré vouloir faire à son peuple. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἱλάσθη κύριος περὶ τη̃ς κακίας ἡ̃ς εἰ̃πεν ποιη̃σαι τὸν λαὸν αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Placatusque est Dominus ne faceret malum quod locutus fuerat adversus populum suum.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 14 ׃32 וינחם יהוה על הרעה אשר דבר לעשות לעמו פ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 15

And Moses turned, and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony were in his hand: the tables were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other were they written.

- Moïse retourna et descendit de la montagne, les deux tables du témoignage dans sa main; les tables étaient écrites des deux côtés, elles étaient écrites de l'un et de l'autre côté. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀποστρέψας Μωυση̃ς κατέβη ἀπὸ του̃ ὄρους καὶ αἱ δύο πλάκες του̃ μαρτυρίου ἐν ται̃ς χερσὶν αὐτου̃ πλάκες λίθιναι καταγεγραμμέναι ἐξ ἀμφοτέρων τω̃ν μερω̃ν αὐτω̃ν ἔνθεν καὶ ἔνθεν ἠ̃σαν γεγραμμέναι (Ⅲ)

- Et reversus est Moyses de monte, portans duas tabulas testimonii in manu sua, scriptas ex utraque parte, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 15 ׃32 ויפן וירד משה מן ההר ושני לחת העדת בידו לחת כתבים משני עבריהם מזה ומזה הם כתבים ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 16

And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables.

- Les tables étaient l'ouvrage de Dieu, et l'écriture était l'écriture de Dieu, gravée sur les tables. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ αἱ πλάκες ἔργον θεου̃ ἠ̃σαν καὶ ἡ γραφὴ γραφὴ θεου̃ ἐστιν κεκολαμμένη ἐν ται̃ς πλαξίν (Ⅲ)

- et factas opere Dei : scriptura quoque Dei erat sculpta in tabulis. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 16 ׃32 והלחת מעשה אלהים המה והמכתב מכתב אלהים הוא חרות על הלחת ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 17

And when Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said unto Moses, There is a noise of war in the camp.

- Josué entendit la voix du peuple, qui poussait des cris, et il dit à Moïse: Il y a un cri de guerre dans le camp. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀκούσας 'Ιησου̃ς τὴν φωνὴν του̃ λαου̃ κραζόντων λέγει πρὸς Μωυση̃ν φωνὴ πολέμου ἐν τη̨̃ παρεμβολη̨̃ (Ⅲ)

- Audiens autem Josue tumultum populi vociferantis, dixit ad Moysen : Ululatus pugnæ auditur in castris. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 17 ׃32 וישמע יהושע את קול העם ברעה‪[q]‬ ויאמר אל משה קול מלחמה במחנה‪[1]‬ ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 18

And he said, It is not the voice of them that shout for mastery, neither is it the voice of them that cry for being overcome: but the noise of them that sing do I hear.

- Moïse répondit: Ce n'est ni un cri de vainqueurs, ni un cri de vaincus; ce que j'entends, c'est la voix de gens qui chantent. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ λέγει οὐκ ἔστιν φωνὴ ἐξαρχόντων κατ' ἰσχὺν οὐδὲ φωνὴ ἐξαρχόντων τροπη̃ς ἀλλὰ φωνὴν ἐξαρχόντων οἴνου ἐγὼ ἀκούω (Ⅲ)

- Qui respondit : Non est clamor adhortantium ad pugnam, neque vociferatio compellentium ad fugam : sed vocem cantantium ego audio. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 18 ׃32 ויאמר אין קול ענות גבורה ואין קול ענות חלושה קול ענות אנכי שמע ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 19

And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses' anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount.

- Et, comme il approchait du camp, il vit le veau et les danses. La colère de Moïse s'enflamma; il jeta de ses mains les tables, et les brisa au pied de la montagne. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἡνίκα ἤγγιζεν τη̨̃ παρεμβολη̨̃ ὁρα̨̃ τὸν μόσχον καὶ τοὺς χορούς καὶ ὀργισθεὶς θυμω̨̃ Μωυση̃ς ἔρριψεν ἀπὸ τω̃ν χειρω̃ν αὐτου̃ τὰς δύο πλάκας καὶ συνέτριψεν αὐτὰς ὑπὸ τὸ ὄρος (Ⅲ)

- Cumque appropinquasset ad castra, vidit vitulum, et choros : iratusque valde, projecit de manu tabulas, et confregit eas ad radicem montis : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 19 ׃32 ויהי כאשר קרב אל המחנה וירא את העגל ומחלת ויחר אף משה וישלך *מידו **מידיו את הלחת וישבר אתם תחת ההר ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 20

And he took the calf which they had made, and burnt it in the fire, and ground it to powder, and strewed it upon the water, and made the children of Israel drink of it.

- Il prit le veau qu'ils avaient fait, et le brûla au feu; il le réduisit en poudre, répandit cette poudre à la surface de l'eau, et fit boire les enfants d'Israël. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ λαβὼν τὸν μόσχον ὃν ἐποίησαν κατέκαυσεν αὐτὸν ἐν πυρὶ καὶ κατήλεσεν αὐτὸν λεπτὸν καὶ ἔσπειρεν αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τὸ ὕδωρ καὶ ἐπότισεν αὐτὸ τοὺς υἱοὺς Ισραηλ (Ⅲ)

- arripiensque vitulum quem fecerant, combussit, et contrivit usque ad pulverem, quem sparsit in aquam, et dedit ex eo potum filiis Israël. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 20 ׃32 ויקח את העגל אשר עשו וישרף באש ויטחן עד אשר דק ויזר על פני המים וישק את בני ישראל ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 21

And Moses said unto Aaron, What did this people unto thee, that thou hast brought so great a sin upon them?

- Moïse dit à Aaron: Que t'a fait ce peuple, pour que tu l'aies laissé commettre un si grand péché? (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Μωυση̃ς τω̨̃ Ααρων τί ἐποίησέν σοι ὁ λαὸς οὑ̃τος ὅτι ἐπήγαγες ἐπ' αὐτοὺς ἁμαρτίαν μεγάλην (Ⅲ)

- Dixitque ad Aaron : Quid tibi fecit hic populus, ut induceres super eum peccatum maximum ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 21 ׃32 ויאמר משה אל אהרן מה עשה לך העם הזה כי הבאת עליו חטאה גדלה ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 22

And Aaron said, Let not the anger of my lord wax hot: thou knowest the people, that they are set on mischief.

- Aaron répondit: Que la colère de mon seigneur ne s'enflamme point! Tu sais toi-même que ce peuple est porté au mal. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ααρων πρὸς Μωυση̃ν μὴ ὀργίζου κύριε σὺ γὰρ οἰ̃δας τὸ ὅρμημα του̃ λαου̃ τούτου (Ⅲ)

- Cui ille respondit : Ne indignetur dominus meus : tu enim nosti populum istum, quod pronus sit ad malum : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 22 ׃32 ויאמר אהרן אל יחר אף אדני אתה ידעת את העם כי ברע הוא ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 23

For they said unto me, Make us gods, which shall go before us: for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

- Ils m'ont dit: Fais-nous un dieu qui marche devant nous; car ce Moïse, cet homme qui nous a fait sortir du pays d'Égypte, nous ne savons ce qu'il est devenu. (Ⅱ)

- λέγουσιν γάρ μοι ποίησον ἡμι̃ν θεούς οἳ προπορεύσονται ἡμω̃ν ὁ γὰρ Μωυση̃ς οὑ̃τος ὁ ἄνθρωπος ὃς ἐξήγαγεν ἡμα̃ς ἐξ Αἰγύπτου οὐκ οἴδαμεν τί γέγονεν αὐτω̨̃ (Ⅲ)

- dixerunt mihi : Fac nobis deos, qui nos præcedant : huic enim Moysi, qui nos eduxit de terra Ægypti, nescimus quid acciderit. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 23 ׃32 ויאמרו לי עשה לנו אלהים אשר ילכו לפנינו כי זה משה האיש אשר העלנו מארץ מצרים לא ידענו מה היה לו ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 24

And I said unto them, Whosoever hath any gold, let them break it off. So they gave it me: then I cast it into the fire, and there came out this calf.

- Je leur ai dit: Que ceux qui ont de l'or, s'en dépouillent! Et ils me l'ont donné; je l'ai jeté au feu, et il en est sorti ce veau. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πα αὐτοι̃ς εἴ τινι ὑπάρχει χρυσία περιέλεσθε καὶ ἔδωκάν μοι καὶ ἔρριψα εἰς τὸ πυ̃ρ καὶ ἐξη̃λθεν ὁ μόσχος οὑ̃τος (Ⅲ)

- Quibus ego dixi : Quis vestrum habet aurum ? Tulerunt, et dederunt mihi : et projeci illud in ignem, egressusque est hic vitulus.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 24 ׃32 ואמר להם למי זהב התפרקו ויתנו לי ואשלכהו באש ויצא העגל הזה ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 25

And when Moses saw that the people were naked; (for Aaron had made them naked unto their shame among their enemies:)

- Moïse vit que le peuple était livré au désordre, et qu'Aaron l'avait laissé dans ce désordre, exposé à l'opprobre parmi ses ennemis. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἰδὼν Μωυση̃ς τὸν λαὸν ὅτι διεσκέδασται διεσκέδασεν γὰρ αὐτοὺς Ααρων ἐπίχαρμα τοι̃ς ὑπεναντίοις αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Videns ergo Moyses populum quod esset nudatus (spoliaverat enim eum Aaron propter ignominiam sordis, et inter hostes nudum constituerat), (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 25 ׃32 וירא משה את העם כי פרע הוא כי פרעה אהרן לשמצה בקמיהם ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 26

Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD's side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.

- Moïse se plaça à la porte du camp, et dit: A moi ceux qui sont pour l'Éternel! Et tous les enfants de Lévi s'assemblèrent auprès de lui. (Ⅱ)

- ἔστη δὲ Μωυση̃ς ἐπὶ τη̃ς πύλης τη̃ς παρεμβολη̃ς καὶ εἰ̃πεν τίς πρὸς κύριον ἴτω πρός με συνη̃λθον οὐ̃ν πρὸς αὐτὸν πάντες οἱ υἱοὶ Λευι (Ⅲ)

- et stans in porta castrorum, ait : Si quis est Domini, jungatur mihi. Congregatique sunt ad eum omnes filii Levi : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 26 ׃32 ויעמד משה בשער המחנה ויאמר מי ליהוה אלי ויאספו אליו כל בני לוי ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 27

And he said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Put every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbor.

- Il leur dit: Ainsi parle l'Éternel, le Dieu d'Israël: Que chacun de vous mette son épée au côté; traversez et parcourez le camp d'une porte à l'autre, et que chacun tue son frère, son parent. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ λέγει αὐτοι̃ς τάδε λέγει κύριος ὁ θεὸς Ισραηλ θέσθε ἕκαστος τὴν ἑαυτου̃ ῥομφαίαν ἐπὶ τὸν μηρὸν καὶ διέλθατε καὶ ἀνακάμψατε ἀπὸ πύλης ἐπὶ πύλην διὰ τη̃ς παρεμβολη̃ς καὶ ἀποκτείνατε ἕκαστος τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτου̃ καὶ ἕκαστος τὸν πλησίον αὐτου̃ καὶ ἕκαστος τὸν ἔγγιστα αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- quibus ait : Hæc dicit Dominus Deus Israël : Ponat vir gladium super femur suum : ite, et redite de porta usque ad portam per medium castrorum, et occidat unusquisque fratrem, et amicum, et proximum suum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 27 ׃32 ויאמר להם כה אמר יהוה אלהי ישראל שימו איש חרבו על ירכו עברו ושובו משער לשער במחנה והרגו איש את אחיו ואיש את רעהו ואיש את קרבו ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 28

And the children of Levi did according to the word of Moses: and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men.

- Les enfants de Lévi firent ce qu'ordonnait Moïse; et environ trois mille hommes parmi le peuple périrent en cette journée. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐποίησαν οἱ υἱοὶ Λευι καθὰ ἐλάλησεν αὐτοι̃ς Μωυση̃ς καὶ ἔπεσαν ἐκ του̃ λαου̃ ἐν ἐκείνη̨ τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ εἰς τρισχιλίους ἄνδρας (Ⅲ)

- Feceruntque filii Levi juxta sermonem Moysi, cecideruntque in die illa quasi viginti tria millia hominum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 28 ׃32 ויעשו בני לוי כדבר משה ויפל מן העם ביום ההוא כשלשת אלפי איש ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 29

For Moses had said, Consecrate yourselves today to the LORD, even every man upon his son, and upon his brother; that he may bestow upon you a blessing this day.

- Moïse dit: Consacrez-vous aujourd'hui à l'Éternel, même en sacrifiant votre fils et votre frère, afin qu'il vous accorde aujourd'hui une bénédiction. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν αὐτοι̃ς Μωυση̃ς ἐπληρώσατε τὰς χει̃ρας ὑμω̃ν σήμερον κυρίω̨ ἕκαστος ἐν τω̨̃ υἱω̨̃ ἢ τω̨̃ ἀδελφω̨̃ δοθη̃ναι ἐφ' ὑμα̃ς εὐλογίαν (Ⅲ)

- Et ait Moyses : Consecrastis manus vestras hodie Domino, unusquisque in filio, et in fratre suo, ut detur vobis benedictio. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 29 ׃32 ויאמר משה מלאו ידכם היום ליהוה כי איש בבנו ובאחיו ולתת עליכם היום ברכה ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 30

And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses said unto the people, Ye have sinned a great sin: and now I will go up unto the LORD; peradventure I shall make an atonement for your sin.

- Le lendemain, Moïse dit au peuple: Vous avez commis un grand péché. Je vais maintenant monter vers l'Éternel: j'obtiendrai peut-être le pardon de votre péché. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐγένετο μετὰ τὴν αὔριον εἰ̃πεν Μωυση̃ς πρὸς τὸν λαόν ὑμει̃ς ἡμαρτήκατε ἁμαρτίαν μεγάλην καὶ νυ̃ν ἀναβήσομαι πρὸς τὸν θεόν ἵνα ἐξιλάσωμαι περὶ τη̃ς ἁμαρτίας ὑμω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Facto autem altero die, locutus est Moyses ad populum : Peccastis peccatum maximum : ascendam ad Dominum, si quomodo quivero eum deprecari pro scelere vestro. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 30 ׃32 ויהי ממחרת ויאמר משה אל העם אתם חטאתם חטאה גדלה ועתה אעלה אל יהוה אולי אכפרה בעד חטאתכם ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 31

And Moses returned unto the LORD, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them gods of gold.

- Moïse retourna vers l'Éternel et dit: Ah! ce peuple a commis un grand péché. Ils se sont fait un dieu d'or. (Ⅱ)

- ὑπέστρεψεν δὲ Μωυση̃ς πρὸς κύριον καὶ εἰ̃πεν δέομαι κύριε ἡμάρτηκεν ὁ λαὸς οὑ̃τος ἁμαρτίαν μεγάλην καὶ ἐποίησαν ἑαυτοι̃ς θεοὺς χρυσου̃ς (Ⅲ)

- Reversusque ad Dominum, ait : Obsecro, peccavit populus iste peccatum maximum, feceruntque sibi deos aureos : aut dimitte eis hanc noxam, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 31 ׃32 וישב משה אל יהוה ויאמר אנא חטא העם הזה חטאה גדלה ויעשו להם אלהי זהב ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 32

Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin--; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written.

- Pardonne maintenant leur péché! Sinon, efface-moi de ton livre que tu as écrit. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ νυ̃ν εἰ μὲν ἀφει̃ς αὐτοι̃ς τὴν ἁμαρτίαν ἄφες εἰ δὲ μή ἐξάλειψόν με ἐκ τη̃ς βίβλου σου ἡ̃ς ἔγραψας (Ⅲ)

- aut si non facis, dele me de libro tuo quem scripsisti. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 32 ׃32 ועתה אם תשא חטאתם ואם אין מחני נא מספרך אשר כתבת ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 33

And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.

- L'Éternel dit à Moïse: C'est celui qui a péché contre moi que j'effacerai de mon livre. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν κύριος πρὸς Μωυση̃ν εἴ τις ἡμάρτηκεν ἐνώπιόν μου ἐξαλείψω αὐτὸν ἐκ τη̃ς βίβλου μου (Ⅲ)

- Cui respondit Dominus : Qui peccaverit mihi, delebo eum de libro meo : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 33 ׃32 ויאמר יהוה אל משה מי אשר חטא לי אמחנו מספרי ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 34

Therefore now go, lead the people unto the place of which I have spoken unto thee: behold, mine Angel shall go before thee: nevertheless in the day when I visit I will visit their sin upon them.

- Va donc, conduis le peuple où je t'ai dit. Voici, mon ange marchera devant toi, mais au jour de ma vengeance, je les punirai de leur péché. (Ⅱ)

- νυνὶ δὲ βάδιζε κατάβηθι καὶ ὁδήγησον τὸν λαὸν του̃τον εἰς τὸν τόπον ὃν εἰ̃πά σοι ἰδοὺ ὁ ἄγγελός μου προπορεύεται πρὸ προσώπου σου ἡ̨̃ δ' ἂν ἡμέρα̨ ἐπισκέπτωμαι ἐπάξω ἐπ' αὐτοὺς τὴν ἁμαρτίαν αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- tu autem vade, et duc populum istum quo locutus sum tibi : angelus meus præcedet te. Ego autem in die ultionis visitabo et hoc peccatum eorum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 34 ׃32 ועתה לך נחה את העם אל אשר דברתי לך הנה מלאכי ילך לפניך וביום פקדי ופקדתי עליהם חטאתם ‬ (Ⅴ)

32. 35

And the LORD plagued the people, because they made the calf, which Aaron made.

- L'Éternel frappa le peuple, parce qu'il avait fait le veau, fabriqué par Aaron. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐπάταξεν κύριος τὸν λαὸν περὶ τη̃ς ποιήσεως του̃ μόσχου οὑ̃ ἐποίησεν Ααρων (Ⅲ)

- Percussit ergo Dominus populum pro reatu vituli, quem fecerat Aaron. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 35 ׃32 ויגף יהוה את העם על אשר עשו את העגל אשר עשה אהרן ס‬ (Ⅴ)
