3. 1  
My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:
- Mon fils, n'oublie pas mes enseignements, Et que ton coeur garde mes préceptes; (Ⅱ)
- υἱέ ἐμω̃ν νομίμων μὴ ἐπιλανθάνου τὰ δὲ ῥήματά μου τηρείτω σὴ καρδία (Ⅲ)
- Fili mi, ne obliviscaris legis meæ,/ et præcepta mea cor tuum custodiat :/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 1  ׃3   בני תורתי אל תשכח ומצותי יצר לבך ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 2  
For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.
- Car ils prolongeront les jours et les années de ta vie, Et ils augmenteront ta paix. (Ⅱ)
- μη̃κος γὰρ βίου καὶ ἔτη ζωη̃ς καὶ εἰρήνην προσθήσουσίν σοι (Ⅲ)
- longitudinem enim dierum, et annos vitæ, et pacem,/ apponent tibi./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 2  ׃3   כי ארך ימים ושנות חיים ושלום יוסיפו לך ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 3  
Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:
- Que la bonté et la fidélité ne t'abandonnent pas; Lie-les à ton cou, écris-les sur la table de ton coeur. (Ⅱ)
- ἐλεημοσύναι καὶ πίστεις μὴ ἐκλιπέτωσάν σε ἄφαψαι δὲ αὐτὰς ἐπὶ σω̨̃ τραχήλω̨ καὶ εὑρήσεις χάριν (Ⅲ)
- Misericordia et veritas te non deserant ;/ circumda eas gutturi tuo,/ et describe in tabulis cordis tui :/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 3  ׃3   חסד ואמת אל יעזבך קשרם על גרגרותיך כתבם על לוח לבך ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 4  
So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.
- Tu acquerras ainsi de la grâce et une raison saine, Aux yeux de Dieu et des hommes. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ προνοου̃ καλὰ ἐνώπιον κυρίου καὶ ἀνθρώπων (Ⅲ)
- et invenies gratiam, et disciplinam bonam,/ coram Deo et hominibus./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 4  ׃3   ומצא חן ושכל טוב בעיני אלהים ואדם פ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 5  
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
- Confie-toi en l'Éternel de tout ton coeur, Et ne t'appuie pas sur ta sagesse; (Ⅱ)
- ἴσθι πεποιθὼς ἐν ὅλη̨ καρδία̨ ἐπὶ θεω̨̃ ἐπὶ δὲ ση̨̃ σοφία̨ μὴ ἐπαίρου (Ⅲ)
- Habe fiduciam in Domino ex toto corde tuo,/ et ne innitaris prudentiæ tuæ./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 5  ׃3   בטח אל יהוה בכל לבך ואל בינתך אל תשען ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 6  
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
- Reconnais-le dans toutes tes voies, Et il aplanira tes sentiers. (Ⅱ)
- ἐν πάσαις ὁδοι̃ς σου γνώριζε αὐτήν ἵνα ὀρθοτομη̨̃ τὰς ὁδούς σου ὁ δὲ πούς σου οὐ μὴ προσκόπτη̨ (Ⅲ)
- In omnibus viis tuis cogita illum,/ et ipse diriget gressus tuos./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 6  ׃3   בכל דרכיך דעהו והוא יישר ארחתיך ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 7  
Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
- Ne sois point sage à tes propres yeux, Crains l'Éternel, et détourne-toi du mal: (Ⅱ)
- μὴ ἴσθι φρόνιμος παρὰ σεαυτω̨̃ φοβου̃ δὲ τὸν θεὸν καὶ ἔκκλινε ἀπὸ παντὸς κακου̃ (Ⅲ)
- Ne sis sapiens apud temetipsum ;/ time Deum, et recede a malo :/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 7  ׃3   אל תהי חכם בעיניך ירא את יהוה וסור מרע ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 8  
It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.
- Ce sera la santé pour tes muscles, Et un rafraîchissement pour tes os. (Ⅱ)
- τότε ἴασις ἔσται τω̨̃ σώματί σου καὶ ἐπιμέλεια τοι̃ς ὀστέοις σου (Ⅲ)
- sanitas quippe erit umbilico tuo,/ et irrigatio ossium tuorum./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 8  ׃3   רפאות תהי לשרך ושקוי לעצמותיך ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 9  
Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:
- Honore l'Éternel avec tes biens, Et avec les prémices de tout ton revenu: (Ⅱ)
- τίμα τὸν κύριον ἀπὸ σω̃ν δικαίων πόνων καὶ ἀπάρχου αὐτω̨̃ ἀπὸ σω̃ν καρπω̃ν δικαιοσύνης (Ⅲ)
- Honora Dominum de tua substantia,/ et de primitiis omnium frugum tuarum da ei :/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 9  ׃3   כבד את יהוה מהונך ומראשית כל תבואתך ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 10  
So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.
- Alors tes greniers seront remplis d'abondance, Et tes cuves regorgeront de moût. (Ⅱ)
- ἵνα πίμπληται τὰ ταμίειά σου πλησμονη̃ς σίτου οἴνω̨ δὲ αἱ ληνοί σου ἐκβλύζωσιν (Ⅲ)
- et implebuntur horrea tua saturitate,/ et vino torcularia tua redundabunt.]\ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 10 ׃3   וימלאו אסמיך שבע ותירוש יקביך יפרצו פ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 11  
My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:
- Mon fils, ne méprise pas la correction de l'Éternel, Et ne t'effraie point de ses châtiments; (Ⅱ)
- υἱέ μὴ ὀλιγώρει παιδείας κυρίου μηδὲ ἐκλύου ὑπ' αὐτου̃ ἐλεγχόμενος (Ⅲ)
- Disciplinam Domini, fili mi, ne abjicias,/ nec deficias cum ab eo corriperis :/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 11 ׃3   מוסר יהוה בני אל תמאס ואל תקץ בתוכחתו ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 12  
For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.
- Car l'Éternel châtie celui qu'il aime, Comme un père l'enfant qu'il chérit. (Ⅱ)
- ὃν γὰρ ἀγαπα̨̃ κύριος παιδεύει μαστιγοι̃ δὲ πάντα υἱὸν ὃν παραδέχεται (Ⅲ)
- quem enim diligit Dominus, corripit,/ et quasi pater in filio complacet sibi./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 12 ׃3   כי את אשר יאהב יהוה יוכיח וכאב את בן ירצה ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 13  
Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.
- Heureux l'homme qui a trouvé la sagesse, Et l'homme qui possède l'intelligence! (Ⅱ)
- μακάριος ἄνθρωπος ὃς εὑ̃ρεν σοφίαν καὶ θνητὸς ὃς εἰ̃δεν φρόνησιν (Ⅲ)
- Beatus homo qui invenit sapientiam,/ et qui affluit prudentia./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 13 ׃3   אשרי אדם מצא חכמה ואדם יפיק תבונה ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 14  
For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.
- Car le gain qu'elle procure est préférable à celui de l'argent, Et le profit qu'on en tire vaut mieux que l'or; (Ⅱ)
- κρει̃ττον γὰρ αὐτὴν ἐμπορεύεσθαι ἢ χρυσίου καὶ ἀργυρίου θησαυρούς (Ⅲ)
- Melior est acquisitio ejus negotiatione argenti,/ et auri primi et purissimi fructus ejus./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 14 ׃3   כי טוב סחרה מסחר כסף ומחרוץ תבואתה ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 15  
She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.
- Elle est plus précieuse que les perles, Elle a plus de valeur que tous les objets de prix. (Ⅱ)
- τιμιωτέρα δέ ἐστιν λίθων πολυτελω̃ν οὐκ ἀντιτάξεται αὐτη̨̃ οὐδὲν πονηρόν εὔγνωστός ἐστιν πα̃σιν τοι̃ς ἐγγίζουσιν αὐτη̨̃ πα̃ν δὲ τίμιον οὐκ ἄξιον αὐτη̃ς ἐστιν (Ⅲ)
- Pretiosior est cunctis opibus,/ et omnia quæ desiderantur huic non valent comparari./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 15 ׃3   יקרה היא *מפניים **מפנינים וכל חפציך לא ישוו בה ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 16  
Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour.
- Dans sa droite est une longue vie; Dans sa gauche, la richesse et la gloire. (Ⅱ)
- μη̃κος γὰρ βίου καὶ ἔτη ζωη̃ς ἐν τη̨̃ δεξια̨̃ αὐτη̃ς ἐν δὲ τη̨̃ ἀριστερα̨̃ αὐτη̃ς πλου̃τος καὶ δόξα (Ⅲ)
- Longitudo dierum in dextera ejus,/ et in sinistra illius divitiæ et gloria./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 16 ׃3   ארך ימים בימינה בשמאולה עשר וכבוד ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 17  
Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.
- Ses voies sont des voies agréables, Et tous ses sentiers sont paisibles. (Ⅱ)
- αἱ ὁδοὶ αὐτη̃ς ὁδοὶ καλαί καὶ πάντες οἱ τρίβοι αὐτη̃ς ἐν εἰρήνη̨ (Ⅲ)
- Viæ ejus viæ pulchræ,/ et omnes semitæ illius pacificæ./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 17 ׃3   דרכיה דרכי נעם וכל נתיבותיה שלום ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 18  
She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.
- Elle est un arbre de vie pour ceux qui la saisissent, Et ceux qui la possèdent sont heureux. (Ⅱ)
- ξύλον ζωη̃ς ἐστι πα̃σι τοι̃ς ἀντεχομένοις αὐτη̃ς καὶ τοι̃ς ἐπερειδομένοις ἐπ' αὐτὴν ὡς ἐπὶ κύριον ἀσφαλής (Ⅲ)
- Lignum vitæ est his qui apprehenderint eam,/ et qui tenuerit eam beatus./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 18 ׃3   עץ חיים היא למחזיקים בה ותמכיה מאשר פ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 19  
The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.
- C'est par la sagesse que l'Éternel a fondé la terre, C'est par l'intelligence qu'il a affermi les cieux; (Ⅱ)
- ὁ θεὸς τη̨̃ σοφία̨ ἐθεμελίωσεν τὴν γη̃ν ἡτοίμασεν δὲ οὐρανοὺς ἐν φρονήσει (Ⅲ)
- Dominus sapientia fundavit terram ;/ stabilivit cælos prudentia./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 19 ׃3   יהוה בחכמה יסד ארץ כונן שמים בתבונה ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 20  
By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.
- C'est par sa science que les abîmes se sont ouverts, Et que les nuages distillent la rosée. (Ⅱ)
- ἐν αἰσθήσει ἄβυσσοι ἐρράγησαν νέφη δὲ ἐρρύησαν δρόσους (Ⅲ)
- Sapientia illius eruperunt abyssi,/ et nubes rore concrescunt.]\ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 20 ׃3   בדעתו תהומות נבקעו ושחקים ירעפו טל ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 21  
My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:
- Mon fils, que ces enseignements ne s'éloignent pas de tes yeux, Garde la sagesse et la réflexion: (Ⅱ)
- υἱέ μὴ παραρρυη̨̃ς τήρησον δὲ ἐμὴν βουλὴν καὶ ἔννοιαν (Ⅲ)
- Fili mi, ne effluant hæc ab oculis tuis./ Custodi legem atque consilium,/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 21 ׃3   בני אל ילזו מעיניך נצר תשיה ומזמה ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 22  
So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck.
- Elles seront la vie de ton âme, Et l'ornement de ton cou. (Ⅱ)
- ἵνα ζήση̨ ἡ ψυχή σου καὶ χάρις ἠ̨̃ περὶ σω̨̃ τραχήλω̨ (Ⅲ)
- et erit vita animæ tuæ,/ et gratia faucibus tuis./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 22 ׃3   ויהיו חיים לנפשך וחן לגרגרתיך ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 23  
Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.
- Alors tu marcheras avec assurance dans ton chemin, Et ton pied ne heurtera pas. (Ⅱ)
- ἵνα πορεύη̨ πεποιθὼς ἐν εἰρήνη̨ πάσας τὰς ὁδούς σου ὁ δὲ πούς σου οὐ μὴ προσκόψη̨ (Ⅲ)
- Tunc ambulabis fiducialiter in via tua,/ et pes tuus non impinget./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 23 ׃3   אז תלך לבטח דרכך ורגלך לא תגוף ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 24  
When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.
- Si tu te couches, tu seras sans crainte; Et quand tu seras couché, ton sommeil sera doux. (Ⅱ)
- ἐὰν γὰρ κάθη̨ ἄφοβος ἔση̨ ἐὰν δὲ καθεύδη̨ς ἡδέως ὑπνώσεις (Ⅲ)
- Si dormieris, non timebis ;/ quiesces, et suavis erit somnus tuus./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 24 ׃3   אם תשכב לא תפחד ושכבת וערבה שנתך ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 25  
Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.
- Ne redoute ni une terreur soudaine, Ni une attaque de la part des méchants; (Ⅱ)
- καὶ οὐ φοβηθήση̨ πτόησιν ἐπελθου̃σαν οὐδὲ ὁρμὰς ἀσεβω̃ν ἐπερχομένας (Ⅲ)
- Ne paveas repentino terrore,/ et irruentes tibi potentias impiorum./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 25 ׃3   אל תירא מפחד פתאם ומשאת רשעים כי תבא ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 26  
For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.
- Car l'Éternel sera ton assurance, Et il préservera ton pied de toute embûche. (Ⅱ)
- ὁ γὰρ κύριος ἔσται ἐπὶ πασω̃ν ὁδω̃ν σου καὶ ἐρείσει σὸν πόδα ἵνα μὴ σαλευθη̨̃ς (Ⅲ)
- Dominus enim erit in latere tuo,/ et custodiet pedem tuum, ne capiaris.]\ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 26 ׃3   כי יהוה יהיה בכסלך ושמר רגלך מלכד ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 27  
Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.
- Ne refuse pas un bienfait à celui qui y a droit, Quand tu as le pouvoir de l'accorder. (Ⅱ)
- μὴ ἀπόσχη̨ εὐ̃ ποιει̃ν ἐνδεη̃ ἡνίκα ἂν ἔχη̨ ἡ χείρ σου βοηθει̃ν (Ⅲ)
- Noli prohibere benefacere eum qui potest :/ si vales, et ipse benefac./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 27 ׃3   אל תמנע טוב מבעליו בהיות לאל *ידיך **ידך לעשות ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 28  
Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee.
- Ne dis pas à ton prochain: Va et reviens, Demain je donnerai! quand tu as de quoi donner. (Ⅱ)
- μὴ εἴπης ἐπανελθὼν ἐπάνηκε καὶ αὔριον δώσω δυνατου̃ σου ὄντος εὐ̃ ποιει̃ν οὐ γὰρ οἰ̃δας τί τέξεται ἡ ἐπιου̃σα (Ⅲ)
- Ne dicas amico tuo : Vade, et revertere : cras dabo tibi :/ cum statim possis dare./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 28 ׃3   אל תאמר *לרעיך **לרעך לך ושוב ומחר אתן ויש אתך ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 29  
Devise not evil against thy neighbour, seeing he dwelleth securely by thee.
- Ne médite pas le mal contre ton prochain, Lorsqu'il demeure tranquillement près de toi. (Ⅱ)
- μὴ τεκτήνη̨ ἐπὶ σὸν φίλον κακὰ παροικου̃ντα καὶ πεποιθότα ἐπὶ σοί (Ⅲ)
- Ne moliaris amico tuo malum,/ cum ille in te habeat fiduciam./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 29 ׃3   אל תחרש על רעך רעה והוא יושב לבטח אתך ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 30  
Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm.
- Ne conteste pas sans motif avec quelqu'un, Lorsqu'il ne t'a point fait de mal. (Ⅱ)
- μὴ φιλεχθρήση̨ς πρὸς ἄνθρωπον μάτην μή τι εἰς σὲ ἐργάσηται κακόν (Ⅲ)
- Ne contendas adversus hominem frustra,/ cum ipse tibi nihil mali fecerit./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 30 ׃3   אל *תרוב **תריב עם אדם חנם אם לא גמלך רעה ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 31  
Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways.|
- Ne porte pas envie à l'homme violent, Et ne choisis aucune de ses voies. (Ⅱ)
- μὴ κτήση̨ κακω̃ν ἀνδρω̃ν ὀνείδη μηδὲ ζηλώση̨ς τὰς ὁδοὺς αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ)
- Ne æmuleris hominem injustum,/ nec imiteris vias ejus :/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 31 ׃3   אל תקנא באיש חמס ואל תבחר בכל דרכיו ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 32  
For the froward is abomination to the LORD: but his secret is with the righteous.
- Car l'Éternel a en horreur les hommes pervers, Mais il est un ami pour les hommes droits; (Ⅱ)
- ἀκάθαρτος γὰρ ἔναντι κυρίου πα̃ς παράνομος ἐν δὲ δικαίοις οὐ συνεδριάζει (Ⅲ)
- quia abominatio Domini est omnis illusor,/ et cum simplicibus sermocinatio ejus./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 32 ׃3   כי תועבת יהוה נלוז ואת ישרים סודו ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 33  
The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just.
- La malédiction de l'Éternel est dans la maison du méchant, Mais il bénit la demeure des justes; (Ⅱ)
- κατάρα θεου̃ ἐν οἴκοις ἀσεβω̃ν ἐπαύλεις δὲ δικαίων εὐλογου̃νται (Ⅲ)
- Egestas a Domino in domo impii ;/ habitacula autem justorum benedicentur./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 33 ׃3   מארת יהוה בבית רשע ונוה צדיקים יברך ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 34  
Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly.
- Il se moque des moqueurs, Mais il fait grâce aux humbles; (Ⅱ)
- κύριος ὑπερηφάνοις ἀντιτάσσεται ταπεινοι̃ς δὲ δίδωσιν χάριν (Ⅲ)
- Ipse deludet illusores,/ et mansuetis dabit gratiam./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 34 ׃3   אם ללצים הוא יליץ *ולעניים **ולענוים יתן חן ‬ (Ⅴ)
3. 35  
The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.
- Les sages hériteront la gloire, Mais les insensés ont la honte en partage. (Ⅱ)
- δόξαν σοφοὶ κληρονομήσουσιν οἱ δὲ ἀσεβει̃ς ὕψωσαν ἀτιμίαν (Ⅲ)
- Gloriam sapientes possidebunt ;/ stultorum exaltatio ignominia.]\ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 35 ׃3   כבוד חכמים ינחלו וכסילים מרים קלון פ‬ (Ⅴ)
