What, my son? and what, the son of my womb? and what, the son of my vows?

Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.

It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink:
- Ce n'est point aux rois, Lemuel, Ce n'est point aux rois de boire du vin, Ni aux princes de rechercher des liqueurs fortes, (Ⅱ) - Noli regibus, o Lamuel, noli regibus dare vinum,/ quia nullum secretum est ubi regnat ebrietas ;/ (Ⅳ) - 4 ׃31 אל למלכים למואל אל למלכים שתו יין ולרוזנים *או **אי שכר (Ⅴ)

Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.
- De peur qu'en buvant ils n'oublient la loi, Et ne méconnaissent les droits de tous les malheureux. (Ⅱ) - et ne forte bibant, et obliviscantur judiciorum,/ et mutent causam filiorum pauperis./ (Ⅳ) - 5 ׃31 פן ישתה וישכח מחקק וישנה דין כל בני עני (Ⅴ)

Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.
- Donnez des liqueurs fortes à celui qui périt, Et du vin à celui qui a l'amertume dans l'âme; (Ⅱ) - Date siceram mœrentibus,/ et vinum his qui amaro sunt animo./ (Ⅳ) - 6 ׃31 תנו שכר לאובד ויין למרי נפש (Ⅴ)

Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.
- Qu'il boive et oublie sa pauvreté, Et qu'il ne se souvienne plus de ses peines. (Ⅱ) - Bibant, et obliviscantur egestatis suæ,/ et doloris sui non recordentur amplius./ (Ⅳ) - 7 ׃31 ישתה וישכח רישו ועמלו לא יזכר עוד (Ⅴ)

Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.

Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.

Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.

The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.

She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.

She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
- Elle se lève lorsqu'il est encore nuit, Et elle donne la nourriture à sa maison Et la tâche à ses servantes. (Ⅱ) - Et de nocte surrexit,/ deditque prædam domesticis suis,/ et cibaria ancillis suis./ (Ⅳ) - 15 ׃31 ותקם בעוד לילה ותתן טרף לביתה וחק לנערתיה (Ⅴ)

She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
- Elle pense à un champ, et elle l'acquiert; Du fruit de son travail elle plante une vigne. (Ⅱ) - Consideravit agrum, et emit eum ;/ de fructu manuum suarum plantavit vineam./ (Ⅳ) - 16 ׃31 זממה שדה ותקחהו מפרי כפיה *נטע **נטעה כרם (Ⅴ)

She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.

She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.

She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.

She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.

She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.

She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
- Elle se fait des couvertures, Elle a des vêtements de fin lin et de pourpre. (Ⅱ) - Stragulatam vestem fecit sibi ;/ byssus et purpura indumentum ejus./ (Ⅳ) - 22 ׃31 מרבדים עשתה לה שש וארגמן לבושה (Ⅴ)

Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
- Son mari est considéré aux portes, Lorsqu'il siège avec les anciens du pays. (Ⅱ) - Nobilis in portis vir ejus,/ quando sederit cum senatoribus terræ./ (Ⅳ) - 23 ׃31 נודע בשערים בעלה בשבתו עם זקני ארץ (Ⅴ)

She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.

Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.

She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
- Elle ouvre la bouche avec sagesse, Et des instructions aimables sont sur sa langue. (Ⅱ) - Os suum aperuit sapientiæ,/ et lex clementiæ in lingua ejus./ (Ⅳ) - 26 ׃31 פיה פתחה בחכמה ותורת חסד על לשונה (Ⅴ)

She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
- Elle veille sur ce qui se passe dans sa maison, Et elle ne mange pas le pain de paresse. (Ⅱ) - Consideravit semitas domus suæ,/ et panem otiosa non comedit./ (Ⅳ) - 27 ׃31 צופיה הליכות ביתה ולחם עצלות לא תאכל (Ⅴ)

Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.

Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.

Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
- La grâce est trompeuse, et la beauté est vaine; La femme qui craint l'Éternel est celle qui sera louée. (Ⅱ) - Fallax gratia, et vana est pulchritudo :/ mulier timens Dominum, ipsa laudabitur./ (Ⅳ) - 30 ׃31 שקר החן והבל היפי אשה יראת יהוה היא תתהלל (Ⅴ)

Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
