3 ׃1 לקחת מוסר השכל צדק ומשפט ומישרים
- Pour recevoir des leçons de bon sens, De justice, d'équité et de droiture; (Ⅱ) - To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity; (Ⅲ) - δέξασθαί τε στροφὰς λόγων νοη̃σαί τε δικαιοσύνην ἀληθη̃ καὶ κρίμα κατευθύνειν (Ⅳ) - ad intelligenda verba prudentiæ,/ et suscipiendam eruditionem doctrinæ,/ justitiam, et judicium, et æquitatem :/ (Ⅴ)

4 ׃1 לתת לפתאים ערמה לנער דעת ומזמה
- Pour donner aux simples du discernement, Au jeune homme de la connaissance et de la réflexion. (Ⅱ) - To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion. (Ⅲ) - ἵνα δω̨̃ ἀκάκοις πανουργίαν παιδὶ δὲ νέω̨ αἴσθησίν τε καὶ ἔννοιαν (Ⅳ) - ut detur parvulis astutia,/ adolescenti scientia et intellectus./ (Ⅴ)

5 ׃1 ישמע חכם ויוסף לקח ונבון תחבלות יקנה
- Que le sage écoute, et il augmentera son savoir, Et celui qui est intelligent acquerra de l'habileté, (Ⅱ) - A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels: (Ⅲ) - τω̃νδε γὰρ ἀκούσας σοφὸς σοφώτερος ἔσται ὁ δὲ νοήμων κυβέρνησιν κτήσεται (Ⅳ) - Audiens sapiens, sapientior erit,/ et intelligens gubernacula possidebit./ (Ⅴ)

6 ׃1 להבין משל ומליצה דברי חכמים וחידתם
- Pour saisir le sens d'un proverbe ou d'une énigme, Des paroles des sages et de leurs sentences. (Ⅱ) - To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings. (Ⅲ) - νοήσει τε παραβολὴν καὶ σκοτεινὸν λόγον ῥήσεις τε σοφω̃ν καὶ αἰνίγματα (Ⅳ) - Animadvertet parabolam et interpretationem,/ verba sapientum et ænigmata eorum./ (Ⅴ)

7 ׃1 יראת יהוה ראשית דעת חכמה ומוסר אוילים בזו פ
- La crainte de l'Éternel est le commencement de la science; Les insensés méprisent la sagesse et l'instruction. (Ⅱ) - The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. (Ⅲ) - ἀρχὴ σοφίας φόβος θεου̃ σύνεσις δὲ ἀγαθὴ πα̃σι τοι̃ς ποιου̃σιν αὐτήν εὐσέβεια δὲ εἰς θεὸν ἀρχὴ αἰσθήσεως σοφίαν δὲ καὶ παιδείαν ἀσεβει̃ς ἐξουθενήσουσιν (Ⅳ) - Timor Domini principium sapientiæ ;/ sapientiam atque doctrinam stulti despiciunt.]\ (Ⅴ)

8 ׃1 שמע בני מוסר אביך ואל תטש תורת אמך
- Écoute, mon fils, l'instruction de ton père, Et ne rejette pas l'enseignement de ta mère; (Ⅱ) - My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother: (Ⅲ) - ἄκουε υἱέ παιδείαν πατρός σου καὶ μὴ ἀπώση̨ θεσμοὺς μητρός σου (Ⅳ) - Audi, fili mi, disciplinam patris tui,/ et ne dimittas legem matris tuæ :/ (Ⅴ)

9 ׃1 כי לוית חן הם לראשך וענקים לגרגרתיך
- Car c'est une couronne de grâce pour ta tête, Et une parure pour ton cou. (Ⅱ) - For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck. (Ⅲ) - στέφανον γὰρ χαρίτων δέξη̨ ση̨̃ κορυφη̨̃ καὶ κλοιὸν χρύσεον περὶ σω̨̃ τραχήλω̨ (Ⅳ) - ut addatur gratia capiti tuo,/ et torques collo tuo./ (Ⅴ)

10 ׃1 בני אם יפתוך חטאים אל תבא
- Mon fils, si des pécheurs veulent te séduire, Ne te laisse pas gagner. (Ⅱ) - My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not. (Ⅲ) - υἱέ μή σε πλανήσωσιν ἄνδρες ἀσεβει̃ς μηδὲ βουληθη̨̃ς ἐὰν παρακαλέσωσί σε λέγοντες (Ⅳ) - Fili mi, si te lactaverint peccatores,/ ne acquiescas eis./ (Ⅴ)

11 ׃1 אם יאמרו לכה אתנו נארבה לדם נצפנה לנקי חנם
- S'ils disent: Viens avec nous! dressons des embûches, versons du sang, Tendons des pièges à celui qui se repose en vain sur son innocence, (Ⅱ) - If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause: (Ⅲ) - ἐλθὲ μεθ' ἡμω̃ν κοινώνησον αἵματος κρύψωμεν δὲ εἰς γη̃ν ἄνδρα δίκαιον ἀδίκως (Ⅳ) - Si dixerint : Veni nobiscum, insidiemur sanguini ;/ abscondamus tendiculas contra insontem frustra ;/ (Ⅴ)

12 ׃1 נבלעם כשאול חיים ותמימים כיורדי בור
- Engloutissons-les tout vifs, comme le séjour des morts, Et tout entiers, comme ceux qui descendent dans la fosse; (Ⅱ) - Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit: (Ⅲ) - καταπίωμεν δὲ αὐτὸν ὥσπερ ἅ̨δης ζω̃ντα καὶ ἄρωμεν αὐτου̃ τὴν μνήμην ἐκ γη̃ς (Ⅳ) - deglutiamus eum sicut infernus viventem,/ et integrum quasi descendentem in lacum ;/ (Ⅴ)

13 ׃1 כל הון יקר נמצא נמלא בתינו שלל
- Nous trouverons toute sorte de biens précieux, Nous remplirons de butin nos maisons; (Ⅱ) - We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil: (Ⅲ) - τὴν κτη̃σιν αὐτου̃ τὴν πολυτελη̃ καταλαβώμεθα πλήσωμεν δὲ οἴκους ἡμετέρους σκύλων (Ⅳ) - omnem pretiosam substantiam reperiemus ;/ implebimus domos nostras spoliis :/ (Ⅴ)

14 ׃1 גורלך תפיל בתוכנו כיס אחד יהיה לכלנו
- Tu auras ta part avec nous, Il n'y aura qu'une bourse pour nous tous! (Ⅱ) - Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse: (Ⅲ) - τὸν δὲ σὸν κλη̃ρον βάλε ἐν ἡμι̃ν κοινὸν δὲ βαλλάντιον κτησώμεθα πάντες καὶ μαρσίππιον ἓν γενηθήτω ἡμι̃ν (Ⅳ) - sortem mitte nobiscum,/ marsupium unum sit omnium nostrum :/ (Ⅴ)

15 ׃1 בני אל תלך בדרך אתם מנע רגלך מנתיבתם
- Mon fils, ne te mets pas en chemin avec eux, Détourne ton pied de leur sentier; (Ⅱ) - My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path: (Ⅲ) - μὴ πορευθη̨̃ς ἐν ὁδω̨̃ μετ' αὐτω̃ν ἔκκλινον δὲ τὸν πόδα σου ἐκ τω̃ν τρίβων αὐτω̃ν (Ⅳ) - fili mi, ne ambules cum eis ;/ prohibe pedem tuum a semitis eorum :/ (Ⅴ)

16 ׃1 כי רגליהם לרע ירוצו וימהרו לשפך דם
- Car leurs pieds courent au mal, Et ils ont hâte de répandre le sang. (Ⅱ) - For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood. (Ⅲ) - οἱ γὰρ πόδες αὐτω̃ν εἰς κακίαν τρέχουσιν καὶ ταχινοὶ του̃ ἐκχέαι αἱ̃μα (Ⅳ) - pedes enim illorum ad malum currunt,/ et festinant ut effundant sanguinem./ (Ⅴ)

17 ׃1 כי חנם מזרה הרשת בעיני כל בעל[U] כנף
- Mais en vain jette-t-on le filet Devant les yeux de tout ce qui a des ailes; (Ⅱ) - Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird. (Ⅲ) - οὐ γὰρ ἀδίκως ἐκτείνεται δίκτυα πτερωτοι̃ς (Ⅳ) - Frustra autem jacitur rete/ ante oculos pennatorum./ (Ⅴ)

18 ׃1 והם לדמם יארבו יצפנו לנפשתם
- Et eux, c'est contre leur propre sang qu'ils dressent des embûches, C'est à leur âme qu'ils tendent des pièges. (Ⅱ) - And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privily for their own lives. (Ⅲ) - αὐτοὶ γὰρ οἱ φόνου μετέχοντες θησαυρίζουσιν ἑαυτοι̃ς κακά ἡ δὲ καταστροφὴ ἀνδρω̃ν παρανόμων κακή (Ⅳ) - Ipsi quoque contra sanguinem suum insidiantur,/ et moliuntur fraudes contra animas suas./ (Ⅴ)

19 ׃1 כן ארחות כל בצע בצע את נפש בעליו יקח פ
- Ainsi arrive-t-il à tout homme avide de gain; La cupidité cause la perte de ceux qui s'y livrent. (Ⅱ) - So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof. (Ⅲ) - αὑ̃ται αἱ ὁδοί εἰσιν πάντων τω̃ν συντελούντων τὰ ἄνομα τη̨̃ γὰρ ἀσεβεία̨ τὴν ἑαυτω̃ν ψυχὴν ἀφαιρου̃νται (Ⅳ) - Sic semitæ omnis avari :/ animas possidentium rapiunt.]\ (Ⅴ)

20 ׃1 חכמות בחוץ תרנה ברחבות תתן קולה
- La sagesse crie dans les rues, Elle élève sa voix dans les places: (Ⅱ) - Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets: (Ⅲ) - σοφία ἐν ἐξόδοις ὑμνει̃ται ἐν δὲ πλατείαις παρρησίαν ἄγει (Ⅳ) - Sapientia foris prædicat ;/ in plateis dat vocem suam :/ (Ⅴ)

21 ׃1 בראש המיות תקרא בפתחי שערים בעיר אמריה תאמר
- Elle crie à l'entrée des lieux bruyants; Aux portes, dans la ville, elle fait entendre ses paroles: (Ⅱ) - She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying, (Ⅲ) - ἐπ' ἄκρων δὲ τειχέων κηρύσσεται ἐπὶ δὲ πύλαις δυναστω̃ν παρεδρεύει ἐπὶ δὲ πύλαις πόλεως θαρρου̃σα λέγει (Ⅳ) - in capite turbarum clamitat ;/ in foribus portarum urbis profert verba sua, dicens :/ (Ⅴ)

22 ׃1 עד מתי פתים תאהבו פתי ולצים לצון חמדו להם וכסילים ישנאו דעת
- Jusqu'à quand, stupides, aimerez-vous la stupidité? Jusqu'à quand les moqueurs se plairont-ils à la moquerie, Et les insensés haïront-ils la science? (Ⅱ) - How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge? (Ⅲ) - ὅσον ἂν χρόνον ἄκακοι ἔχωνται τη̃ς δικαιοσύνης οὐκ αἰσχυνθήσονται οἱ δὲ ἄφρονες τη̃ς ὕβρεως ὄντες ἐπιθυμηταί ἀσεβει̃ς γενόμενοι ἐμίσησαν αἴσθησιν (Ⅳ) - Usquequo, parvuli, diligitis infantiam,/ et stulti ea quæ sibi sunt noxia cupient,/ et imprudentes odibunt scientiam ?/ (Ⅴ)

23 ׃1 תשובו לתוכחתי הנה אביעה לכם רוחי אודיעה דברי אתכם
- Tournez-vous pour écouter mes réprimandes! Voici, je répandrai sur vous mon esprit, Je vous ferez connaître mes paroles... (Ⅱ) - Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you. (Ⅲ) - καὶ ὑπεύθυνοι ἐγένοντο ἐλέγχοις ἰδοὺ προήσομαι ὑμι̃ν ἐμη̃ς πνοη̃ς ῥη̃σιν διδάξω δὲ ὑμα̃ς τὸν ἐμὸν λόγον (Ⅳ) - convertimini ad correptionem meam./ En proferam vobis spiritum meum,/ et ostendam vobis verba mea./ (Ⅴ)

24 ׃1 יען קראתי ותמאנו נטיתי ידי ואין מקשיב
- Puisque j'appelle et que vous résistez, Puisque j'étends ma main et que personne n'y prend garde, (Ⅱ) - Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; (Ⅲ) - ἐπειδὴ ἐκάλουν καὶ οὐχ ὑπηκούσατε καὶ ἐξέτεινον λόγους καὶ οὐ προσείχετε (Ⅳ) - Quia vocavi, et renuistis ;/ extendi manum meam, et non fuit qui aspiceret :/ (Ⅴ)

25 ׃1 ותפרעו כל עצתי ותוכחתי לא אביתם
- Puisque vous rejetez tous mes conseils, Et que vous n'aimez pas mes réprimandes, (Ⅱ) - But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: (Ⅲ) - ἀλλὰ ἀκύρους ἐποιει̃τε ἐμὰς βουλάς τοι̃ς δὲ ἐμοι̃ς ἐλέγχοις ἠπειθήσατε (Ⅳ) - despexistis omne consilium meum,/ et increpationes meas neglexistis./ (Ⅴ)

26 ׃1 גם אני באידכם אשחק אלעג בבא פחדכם
- Moi aussi, je rirai quand vous serez dans le malheur, Je me moquerai quand la terreur vous saisira, (Ⅱ) - I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh; (Ⅲ) - τοιγαρου̃ν κἀγὼ τη̨̃ ὑμετέρα̨ ἀπωλεία̨ ἐπιγελάσομαι καταχαρου̃μαι δέ ἡνίκα ἂν ἔρχηται ὑμι̃ν ὄλεθρος (Ⅳ) - Ego quoque in interitu vestro ridebo,/ et subsannabo cum vobis id quod timebatis advenerit./ (Ⅴ)

27 ׃1 בבא *כשאוה **כשואה פחדכם ואידכם כסופה יאתה בבא עליכם צרה וצוקה
- Quand la terreur vous saisira comme une tempête, Et que le malheur vous enveloppera comme un tourbillon, Quand la détresse et l'angoisse fondront sur vous. (Ⅱ) - When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you. (Ⅲ) - καὶ ὡς ἂν ἀφίκηται ὑμι̃ν ἄφνω θόρυβος ἡ δὲ καταστροφὴ ὁμοίως καταιγίδι παρη̨̃ καὶ ὅταν ἔρχηται ὑμι̃ν θλι̃ψις καὶ πολιορκία ἢ ὅταν ἔρχηται ὑμι̃ν ὄλεθρος (Ⅳ) - Cum irruerit repentina calamitas,/ et interitus quasi tempestas ingruerit ;/ quando venerit super vos tribulatio et angustia :/ (Ⅴ)

28 ׃1 אז יקראנני ולא אענה ישחרנני ולא ימצאנני
- Alors ils m'appelleront, et je ne répondrai pas; Ils me chercheront, et ils ne me trouveront pas. (Ⅱ) - Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: (Ⅲ) - ἔσται γὰρ ὅταν ἐπικαλέσησθέ με ἐγὼ δὲ οὐκ εἰσακούσομαι ὑμω̃ν ζητήσουσίν με κακοὶ καὶ οὐχ εὑρήσουσιν (Ⅳ) - tunc invocabunt me, et non exaudiam ;/ mane consurgent, et non invenient me :/ (Ⅴ)

29 ׃1 תחת כי שנאו דעת ויראת יהוה לא בחרו
- Parce qu'ils ont haï la science, Et qu'ils n'ont pas choisi la crainte de l'Éternel, (Ⅱ) - For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD: (Ⅲ) - ἐμίσησαν γὰρ σοφίαν τὸν δὲ φόβον του̃ κυρίου οὐ προείλαντο (Ⅳ) - eo quod exosam habuerint disciplinam,/ et timorem Domini non susceperint,/ (Ⅴ)

30 ׃1 לא אבו לעצתי נאצו כל תוכחתי
- Parce qu'ils n'ont point aimé mes conseils, Et qu'ils ont dédaigné toutes mes réprimandes, (Ⅱ) - They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof. (Ⅲ) - οὐδὲ ἤθελον ἐμαι̃ς προσέχειν βουλαι̃ς ἐμυκτήριζον δὲ ἐμοὺς ἐλέγχους (Ⅳ) - nec acquieverint consilio meo,/ et detraxerint universæ correptioni meæ./ (Ⅴ)

31 ׃1 ויאכלו מפרי דרכם וממעצתיהם ישבעו
- Ils se nourriront du fruit de leur voie, Et ils se rassasieront de leurs propres conseils, (Ⅱ) - Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices. (Ⅲ) - τοιγαρου̃ν ἔδονται τη̃ς ἑαυτω̃ν ὁδου̃ τοὺς καρποὺς καὶ τη̃ς ἑαυτω̃ν ἀσεβείας πλησθήσονται (Ⅳ) - Comedent igitur fructus viæ suæ,/ suisque consiliis saturabuntur./ (Ⅴ)

32 ׃1 כי משובת פתים תהרגם ושלות כסילים תאבדם
- Car la résistance des stupides les tue, Et la sécurité des insensés les perd; (Ⅱ) - For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them. (Ⅲ) - ἀνθ' ὡ̃ν γὰρ ἠδίκουν νηπίους φονευθήσονται καὶ ἐξετασμὸς ἀσεβει̃ς ὀλει̃ (Ⅳ) - Aversio parvulorum interficiet eos,/ et prosperitas stultorum perdet illos./ (Ⅴ)

33 ׃1 ושמע לי ישכן בטח ושאנן מפחד רעה פ
- Mais celui qui m'écoute reposera avec assurance, Il vivra tranquille et sans craindre aucun mal. (Ⅱ) - But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil. (Ⅲ) - ὁ δὲ ἐμου̃ ἀκούων κατασκηνώσει ἐπ' ἐλπίδι καὶ ἡσυχάσει ἀφόβως ἀπὸ παντὸς κακου̃ (Ⅳ) - Qui autem me audierit, absque terrore requiescet,/ et abundantia perfruetur, timore malorum sublato.] (Ⅴ)
