Lift ye up a banner upon the high mountain, exalt the voice unto them, shake the hand, that they may go into the gates of the nobles.
- Sur une montagne nue dressez une bannière, Élevez la voix vers eux, Faites des signes avec la main, Et qu'ils franchissent les portes des tyrans! I have commanded my sanctified ones, I have also called my mighty ones for mine anger, even them that rejoice in my highness.
- J'ai donné des ordres à ma sainte milice, J'ai appelé les héros de ma colère, Ceux qui se réjouissent de ma grandeur. (Ⅱ) - ἐγὼ συντάσσω καὶ ἐγὼ ἄγω αὐτούς ἡγιασμένοι εἰσίν καὶ ἐγὼ ἄγω αὐτούς γίγαντες ἔρχονται πληρω̃σαι τὸν θυμόν μου χαίροντες ἅμα καὶ ὑβρίζοντες (Ⅲ) - Ego mandavi sanctificatis meis,/ et vocavi fortes meos in ira mea,/ exsultantes in gloria mea./ (Ⅳ) - 3 ׃13 אני צויתי למקדשי גם קראתי גבורי לאפי עליזי גאותי (Ⅴ)

The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: the LORD of hosts mustereth the host of the battle.
- On entend une rumeur sur les montagnes, Comme celle d'un peuple nombreux; On entend un tumulte de royaumes, de nations rassemblées: L'Éternel des armées passe en revue l'armée qui va combattre. (Ⅱ) - φωνὴ ἐθνω̃ν πολλω̃ν ἐπὶ τω̃ν ὀρέων ὁμοία ἐθνω̃ν πολλω̃ν φωνὴ βασιλέων καὶ ἐθνω̃ν συνηγμένων κύριος σαβαωθ ἐντέταλται ἔθνει ὁπλομάχω̨ (Ⅲ) - Vox multitudinis in montibus,/ quasi populorum frequentium ;/ vox sonitus regum,/ gentium congregatarum./ Dominus exercituum præcepit/ militiæ belli,/ (Ⅳ) - 4 ׃13 קול המון בהרים דמות עם רב קול שאון ממלכות גוים נאספים יהוה צבאות מפקד צבא מלחמה (Ⅴ)

They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, even the LORD, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.
- Ils viennent d'un pays lointain, De l'extrémité des cieux: L'Éternel et les instruments de sa colère Vont détruire toute la contrée. (Ⅱ) - ἔρχεσθαι ἐκ γη̃ς πόρρωθεν ἀπ' ἄκρου θεμελίου του̃ οὐρανου̃ κύριος καὶ οἱ ὁπλομάχοι αὐτου̃ του̃ καταφθει̃ραι τὴν οἰκουμένην ὅλην (Ⅲ) - venientibus de terra procul,/ a summitate cæli ;/ Dominus, et vasa furoris ejus,/ ut disperdat omnem terram./ (Ⅳ) - 5 ׃13 באים מארץ מרחק מקצה השמים יהוה וכלי זעמו לחבל כל הארץ (Ⅴ)

Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty.
- Gémissez, car le jour de l'Éternel est proche: Il vient comme un ravage du Tout Puissant. (Ⅱ) - ὀλολύζετε ἐγγὺς γὰρ ἡ ἡμέρα κυρίου καὶ συντριβὴ παρὰ του̃ θεου̃ ἥξει (Ⅲ) - Ululate, quia prope est dies Domini ;/ quasi vastitas a Domino veniet./ (Ⅳ) - 6 ׃13 הילילו כי קרוב יום יהוה כשד משדי יבוא (Ⅴ)

Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man's heart shall melt:
- C'est pourquoi toutes les mains s'affaiblissent, Et tout coeur d'homme est abattu. (Ⅱ) - διὰ του̃το πα̃σα χεὶρ ἐκλυθήσεται καὶ πα̃σα ψυχὴ ἀνθρώπου δειλιάσει (Ⅲ) - Propter hoc omnes manus dissolventur,/ et omne cor hominis contabescet,/ (Ⅳ) - 7 ׃13 על כן כל ידים תרפינה וכל לבב אנוש ימס[1] (Ⅴ)

And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames.
- Ils sont frappés d'épouvante; Les spasmes et les douleurs les saisissent; Ils se tordent comme une femme en travail; Ils se regardent les uns les autres avec stupeur; Leurs visages sont enflammés. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ταραχθήσονται οἱ πρέσβεις καὶ ὠδι̃νες αὐτοὺς ἕξουσιν ὡς γυναικὸς τικτούσης καὶ συμφοράσουσιν ἕτερος πρὸς τὸν ἕτερον καὶ ἐκστήσονται καὶ τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτω̃ν ὡς φλὸξ μεταβαλου̃σιν (Ⅲ) - et conteretur./ Torsiones et dolores tenebunt ;/ quasi parturiens dolebunt :/ unusquisque ad proximum suum stupebit,/ facies combustæ vultus eorum./ (Ⅳ) - 8 ׃13 ונבהלו צירים וחבלים יאחזון כיולדה יחילון איש אל רעהו יתמהו פני להבים פניהם (Ⅴ)

Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.
- Voici, le jour de l'Éternel arrive, Jour cruel, jour de colère et d'ardente fureur, Qui réduira la terre en solitude, Et en exterminera les pécheurs. (Ⅱ) - ἰδοὺ γὰρ ἡμέρα κυρίου ἀνίατος ἔρχεται θυμου̃ καὶ ὀργη̃ς θει̃ναι τὴν οἰκουμένην ὅλην ἔρημον καὶ τοὺς ἁμαρτωλοὺς ἀπολέσαι ἐξ αὐτη̃ς (Ⅲ) - Ecce dies Domini veniet,/ crudelis, et indignationis plenus, et iræ, furorisque,/ ad ponendam terram in solitudinem,/ et peccatores ejus conterendos de ea./ (Ⅳ) - 9 ׃13 הנה יום יהוה בא אכזרי ועברה וחרון אף לשום הארץ לשמה וחטאיה ישמיד ממנה (Ⅴ)

For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.
- Car les étoiles des cieux et leurs astres Ne feront plus briller leur lumière, Le soleil s'obscurcira dès son lever, Et la lune ne fera plus luire sa clarté. (Ⅱ) - οἱ γὰρ ἀστέρες του̃ οὐρανου̃ καὶ ὁ 'Ωρίων καὶ πα̃ς ὁ κόσμος του̃ οὐρανου̃ τὸ φω̃ς οὐ δώσουσιν καὶ σκοτισθήσεται του̃ ἡλίου ἀνατέλλοντος καὶ ἡ σελήνη οὐ δώσει τὸ φω̃ς αὐτη̃ς (Ⅲ) - Quoniam stellæ cæli, et splendor earum,/ non expandent lumen suum ;/ obtenebratus est sol in ortu suo,/ et luna non splendebit in lumine suo./ (Ⅳ) - 10 ׃13 כי כוכבי השמים וכסיליהם לא יהלו אורם חשך השמש בצאתו וירח לא יגיה אורו[c] (Ⅴ)

And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.
- Je punirai le monde pour sa malice, Et les méchants pour leurs iniquités; Je ferai cesser l'orgueil des hautains, Et j'abattrai l'arrogance des tyrans. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐντελου̃μαι τη̨̃ οἰκουμένη̨ ὅλη̨ κακὰ καὶ τοι̃ς ἀσεβέσιν τὰς ἁμαρτίας αὐτω̃ν καὶ ἀπολω̃ ὕβριν ἀνόμων καὶ ὕβριν ὑπερηφάνων ταπεινώσω (Ⅲ) - Et visitabo super orbis mala,/ et contra impios iniquitatem eorum ;/ et quiescere faciam superbiam infidelium,/ et arrogantiam fortium humiliabo./ (Ⅳ) - 11 ׃13 ופקדתי על תבל רעה ועל רשעים עונם והשבתי גאון זדים וגאות עריצים אשפיל (Ⅴ)

I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir.
- Je rendrai les hommes plus rares que l'or fin, Je les rendrai plus rares que l'or d'Ophir. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔσονται οἱ καταλελειμμένοι ἔντιμοι μα̃λλον ἢ τὸ χρυσίον τὸ ἄπυρον καὶ ὁ ἄνθρωπος μα̃λλον ἔντιμος ἔσται ἢ ὁ λίθος ὁ ἐκ Σουφιρ (Ⅲ) - Pretiosior erit vir auro,/ et homo mundo obrizo./ (Ⅳ) - 12 ׃13 אוקיר אנוש מפז ואדם מכתם אופיר (Ⅴ)

Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.
- C'est pourquoi j'ébranlerai les cieux, Et la terre sera secouée sur sa base, Par la colère de l'Éternel des armées, Au jour de son ardente fureur. (Ⅱ) - ὁ γὰρ οὐρανὸς θυμωθήσεται καὶ ἡ γη̃ σεισθήσεται ἐκ τω̃ν θεμελίων αὐτη̃ς διὰ θυμὸν ὀργη̃ς κυρίου σαβαωθ τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ ἡ̨̃ ἂν ἐπέλθη̨ ὁ θυμὸς αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - Super hoc cælum turbabo ;/ et movebitur terra de loco suo,/ propter indignationem Domini exercituum,/ et propter diem iræ furoris ejus./ (Ⅳ) - 13 ׃13 על כן שמים ארגיז ותרעש הארץ ממקומה בעברת יהוה צבאות וביום חרון אפו (Ⅴ)

And it shall be as the chased roe, and as a sheep that no man taketh up: they shall every man turn to his own people, and flee every one into his own land.
- Alors, comme une gazelle effarouchée, Comme un troupeau sans berger, Chacun se tournera vers son peuple, Chacun fuira vers son pays; (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔσονται οἱ καταλελειμμένοι ὡς δορκάδιον φευ̃γον καὶ ὡς πρόβατον πλανώμενον καὶ οὐκ ἔσται ὁ συνάγων ὥστε ἄνθρωπον εἰς τὸν λαὸν αὐτου̃ ἀποστραφη̃ναι καὶ ἄνθρωπον εἰς τὴν χώραν αὐτου̃ διω̃ξαι (Ⅲ) - Et erit quasi damula fugiens,/ et quasi ovis, et non erit qui congreget./ Unusquisque ad populum suum convertetur,/ et singuli ad terram suam fugient./ (Ⅳ) - 14 ׃13 והיה כצבי מדח וכצאן ואין מקבץ איש אל עמו יפנו ואיש אל ארצו ינוסו (Ⅴ)

Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is joined unto them shall fall by the sword.
- Tous ceux qu'on trouvera seront percés, Et tous ceux qu'on saisira tomberont par l'épée. (Ⅱ) - ὃς γὰρ ἂν ἁλω̨̃ ἡττηθήσεται καὶ οἵτινες συνηγμένοι εἰσίν μαχαίρα̨ πεσου̃νται (Ⅲ) - Omnis qui inventus fuerit occidetur,/ et omnis qui supervenerit cadet in gladio ;/ (Ⅳ) - 15 ׃13 כל הנמצא ידקר וכל הנספה יפול בחרב (Ⅴ)

Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished.
- Leurs enfants seront écrasés sous leurs yeux, Leurs maisons seront pillées, et leurs femmes violées. (Ⅱ) - καὶ τὰ τέκνα αὐτω̃ν ἐνώπιον αὐτω̃ν ῥάξουσιν καὶ τὰς οἰκίας αὐτω̃ν προνομεύσουσιν καὶ τὰς γυναι̃κας αὐτω̃ν ἕξουσιν (Ⅲ) - infantes eorum allidentur in oculis eorum,/ diripientur domus eorum, et uxores eorum violabuntur./ (Ⅳ) - 16 ׃13 ועלליהם ירטשו לעיניהם ישסו בתיהם ונשיהם *תשגלנה **תשכבנה (Ⅴ)

Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, which shall not regard silver; and as for gold, they shall not delight in it.
- Voici, j'excite contre eux les Mèdes, Qui ne font point cas de l'argent, Et qui ne convoitent point l'or. (Ⅱ) - ἰδοὺ ἐπεγείρω ὑμι̃ν τοὺς Μήδους οἳ οὐ λογίζονται ἀργύριον οὐδὲ χρυσίου χρείαν ἔχουσιν (Ⅲ) - Ecce ego suscitabo super eos Medos,/ qui argentum non quærant,/ nec aurum velint ;/ (Ⅳ) - 17 ׃13 הנני מעיר עליהם את מדי אשר כסף לא יחשבו וזהב לא יחפצו בו (Ⅴ)

Their bows also shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eyes shall not spare children.
- De leurs arcs ils abattront les jeunes gens, Et ils seront sans pitié pour le fruit des entrailles: Leur oeil n'épargnera point les enfants. (Ⅱ) - τοξεύματα νεανίσκων συντρίψουσιν καὶ τὰ τέκνα ὑμω̃ν οὐ μὴ ἐλεήσωσιν οὐδὲ ἐπὶ τοι̃ς τέκνοις οὐ φείσονται οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ) - sed sagittis parvulos interficient,/ et lactantibus uteris non miserebuntur,/ et super filios non parcet oculus eorum./ (Ⅳ) - 18 ׃13 וקשתות נערים תרטשנה ופרי בטן לא ירחמו על בנים לא תחוס עינם (Ⅴ)

And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees' excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.
- Et Babylone, l'ornement des royaumes, La fière parure des Chaldéens, Sera comme Sodome et Gomorrhe, que Dieu détruisit. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔσται Βαβυλών ἣ καλει̃ται ἔνδοξος ὑπὸ βασιλέως Χαλδαίων ὃν τρόπον κατέστρεψεν ὁ θεὸς Σοδομα καὶ Γομορρα (Ⅲ) - Et erit Babylon illa gloriosa in regnis,/ inclyta superbia Chaldæorum,/ sicut subvertit Dominus Sodomam et Gomorrham./ (Ⅳ) - 19 ׃13 והיתה בבל צבי ממלכות תפארת גאון כשדים כמהפכת אלהים את סדם ואת עמרה (Ⅴ)

It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall the shepherds make their fold there.
- Elle ne sera plus jamais habitée, Elle ne sera plus jamais peuplée; L'Arabe n'y dressera point sa tente, Et les bergers n'y parqueront point leurs troupeaux. (Ⅱ) - οὐ κατοικηθήσεται εἰς τὸν αἰω̃να χρόνον οὐδὲ μὴ εἰσέλθωσιν εἰς αὐτὴν διὰ πολλω̃ν γενεω̃ν οὐδὲ μὴ διέλθωσιν αὐτὴν 'Άραβες οὐδὲ ποιμένες οὐ μὴ ἀναπαύσωνται ἐν αὐτη̨̃ (Ⅲ) - Non habitabitur usque in finem,/ et non fundabitur usque ad generationem et generationem ;/ nec ponet ibi tentoria Arabs,/ nec pastores requiescent ibi./ (Ⅳ) - 20 ׃13 לא תשב לנצח ולא תשכן עד דור ודור ולא יהל שם ערבי ורעים לא ירבצו שם (Ⅴ)

But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and owls shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there.
- Les animaux du désert y prendront leur gîte, Les hiboux rempliront ses maisons, Les autruches en feront leur demeure Et les boucs y sauteront. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀναπαύσονται ἐκει̃ θηρία καὶ ἐμπλησθήσονται αἱ οἰκίαι ἤχου καὶ ἀναπαύσονται ἐκει̃ σειρη̃νες καὶ δαιμόνια ἐκει̃ ὀρχήσονται (Ⅲ) - Sed requiescent ibi bestiæ,/ et replebuntur domus eorum draconibus,/ et habitabunt ibi struthiones,/ et pilosi saltabunt ibi ;/ (Ⅳ) - 21 ׃13 ורבצו שם ציים ומלאו בתיהם אחים ושכנו שם בנות יענה ושעירים ירקדו שם (Ⅴ)

And the wild beasts of the islands shall cry in their desolate houses, and dragons in their pleasant palaces: and her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged.
- Les chacals hurleront dans ses palais, Et les chiens sauvages dans ses maisons de plaisance. Son temps est près d'arriver, Et ses jours ne se prolongeront pas. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ὀνοκένταυροι ἐκει̃ κατοικήσουσιν καὶ νοσσοποιήσουσιν ἐχι̃νοι ἐν τοι̃ς οἴκοις αὐτω̃ν ταχὺ ἔρχεται καὶ οὐ χρονιει̃ (Ⅲ) - et respondebunt ibi ululæ in ædibus ejus,/ et sirenes in delubris voluptatis.] (Ⅳ) - 22 ׃13 וענה איים באלמנותיו[1] ותנים בהיכלי ענג וקרוב לבוא עתה וימיה לא ימשכו (Ⅴ)
