Woe to Ariel, to Ariel, the city where David dwelt! add ye year to year; let them kill sacrifices.
- Malheur à Ariel, à Ariel, Cité dont David fit sa demeure! Ajoutez année à année, Laissez les fêtes accomplir leur cycle. (Ⅱ) - οὐαὶ πόλις Αριηλ ἣν Δαυιδ ἐπολέμησεν συναγάγετε γενήματα ἐνιαυτὸν ἐπ' ἐνιαυτόν φάγεσθε γὰρ σὺν Μωαβ (Ⅲ) - Væ Ariel, Ariel/ civitas, quam expugnavit David !/ additus est annus ad annum :/ solemnitates evolutæ sunt./ (Ⅳ) - 1 ׃29 הוי אריאל אריאל קרית חנה דוד ספו שנה על שנה חגים ינקפו (Ⅴ)

Yet I will distress Ariel, and there shall be heaviness and sorrow: and it shall be unto me as Ariel.
- Puis j'assiégerai Ariel; Il y aura des plaintes et des gémissements; Et la ville sera pour moi comme un Ariel. (Ⅱ) - ἐκθλίψω γὰρ Αριηλ καὶ ἔσται αὐτη̃ς ἡ ἰσχὺς καὶ τὸ πλου̃τος ἐμοί (Ⅲ) - Et circumvallabo Ariel,/ et erit tristis et mœrens,/ et erit mihi quasi Ariel./ (Ⅳ) - 2 ׃29 והציקותי לאריאל והיתה תאניה ואניה והיתה לי כאריאל (Ⅴ)

And I will camp against thee round about, and will lay siege against thee with a mount, and I will raise forts against thee.
- Je t'investirai de toutes parts, Je te cernerai par des postes armés, J'élèverai contre toi des retranchements. (Ⅱ) - καὶ κυκλώσω ὡς Δαυιδ ἐπὶ σὲ καὶ βαλω̃ περὶ σὲ χάρακα καὶ θήσω περὶ σὲ πύργους (Ⅲ) - Et circumdabo quasi sphæram in circuitu tuo,/ et jaciam contra te aggerem,/ et munimenta ponam in obsidionem tuam./ (Ⅳ) - 3 ׃29 וחניתי כדור עליך וצרתי עליך מצב והקימתי עליך מצרת (Ⅴ)

And thou shalt be brought down, and shalt speak out of the ground, and thy speech shall be low out of the dust, and thy voice shall be, as of one that hath a familiar spirit, out of the ground, and thy speech shall whisper out of the dust.
- Tu seras abaissée, ta parole viendra de terre, Et les sons en seront étouffés par la poussière; Ta voix sortira de terre comme celle d'un spectre, Et c'est de la poussière que tu murmureras tes discours. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ταπεινωθήσονται οἱ λόγοι σου εἰς τὴν γη̃ν καὶ εἰς τὴν γη̃ν οἱ λόγοι σου δύσονται καὶ ἔσται ὡς οἱ φωνου̃ντες ἐκ τη̃ς γη̃ς ἡ φωνή σου καὶ πρὸς τὸ ἔδαφος ἡ φωνή σου ἀσθενήσει (Ⅲ) - Humiliaberis, de terra loqueris,/ et de humo audietur eloquium tuum ;/ et erit quasi pythonis de terra vox tua,/ et de humo eloquium tuum mussitabit./ (Ⅳ) - 4 ׃29 ושפלת מארץ תדברי ומעפר תשח אמרתך והיה כאוב מארץ קולך ומעפר אמרתך תצפצף (Ⅴ)

Moreover the multitude of thy strangers shall be like small dust, and the multitude of the terrible ones shall be as chaff that passeth away: yea, it shall be at an instant suddenly.
- La multitude de tes ennemis sera comme une fine poussière, Cette multitude de guerriers sera comme la balle qui vole, Et cela tout à coup, en un instant. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔσται ὡς κονιορτὸς ἀπὸ τροχου̃ ὁ πλου̃τος τω̃ν ἀσεβω̃ν καὶ ὡς χνου̃ς φερόμενος καὶ ἔσται ὡς στιγμὴ παραχρη̃μα (Ⅲ) - Et erit sicut pulvis tenuis multitudo ventilantium te,/ et sicut favilla pertransiens multitudo eorum qui contra te prævaluerunt ;/ (Ⅳ) - 5 ׃29 והיה כאבק דק המון זריך וכמץ עבר המון עריצים והיה לפתע פתאם (Ⅴ)

Thou shalt be visited of the LORD of hosts with thunder, and with earthquake, and great noise, with storm and tempest, and the flame of devouring fire.
- C'est de l'Éternel des armées que viendra le châtiment, Avec des tonnerres, des tremblements de terre et un bruit formidable, Avec l'ouragan et la tempête, Et avec la flamme d'un feu dévorant. (Ⅱ) - παρὰ κυρίου σαβαωθ ἐπισκοπὴ γὰρ ἔσται μετὰ βροντη̃ς καὶ σεισμου̃ καὶ φωνη̃ς μεγάλης καταιγὶς φερομένη καὶ φλὸξ πυρὸς κατεσθίουσα (Ⅲ) - eritque repente confestim./ A Domino exercituum visitabitur/ in tonitruo, et commotione terræ, et voce magna/ turbinis et tempestatis, et flammæ ignis devorantis./ (Ⅳ) - 6 ׃29 מעם יהוה צבאות תפקד ברעם וברעש וקול גדול סופה וסערה ולהב אש אוכלה (Ⅴ)

And the multitude of all the nations that fight against Ariel, even all that fight against her and her munition, and that distress her, shall be as a dream of a night vision.
- Et, comme il en est d'un songe, d'une vision nocturne, Ainsi en sera-t-il de la multitude des nations qui combattront Ariel, De tous ceux qui l'attaqueront, elle et sa forteresse, Et qui la serreront de près. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔσται ὡς ὁ ἐνυπνιαζόμενος ἐν ὕπνω̨ ὁ πλου̃τος τω̃ν ἐθνω̃ν πάντων ὅσοι ἐπεστράτευσαν ἐπὶ Αριηλ καὶ πάντες οἱ στρατευσάμενοι ἐπὶ Ιερουσαλημ καὶ πάντες οἱ συνηγμένοι ἐπ' αὐτὴν καὶ θλίβοντες αὐτήν (Ⅲ) - Et erit sicut somnium visionis nocturnæ/ multitudo omnium gentium quæ dimicaverunt contra Ariel,/ et omnes qui militaverunt, et obsederunt,/ et prævaluerunt adversus eam./ (Ⅳ) - 7 ׃29 והיה כחלום חזון לילה המון כל הגוים הצבאים על אריאל וכל צביה ומצדתה והמציקים לה (Ⅴ)

It shall even be as when an hungry man dreameth, and, behold, he eateth; but he awaketh, and his soul is empty: or as when a thirsty man dreameth, and, behold, he drinketh; but he awaketh, and, behold, he is faint, and his soul hath appetite: so shall the multitude of all the nations be, that fight against mount Zion.
- Comme celui qui a faim rêve qu'il mange, Puis s'éveille, l'estomac vide, Et comme celui qui a soif rêve qu'il boit, Puis s'éveille, épuisé et languissant; Ainsi en sera-t-il de la multitude des nations Qui viendront attaquer la montagne de Sion. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔσονται ὡς οἱ ἐν ὕπνω̨ πίνοντες καὶ ἔσθοντες καὶ ἐξαναστάντων μάταιον αὐτω̃ν τὸ ἐνύπνιον καὶ ὃν τρόπον ἐνυπνιάζεται ὁ διψω̃ν ὡς πίνων καὶ ἐξαναστὰς ἔτι διψα̨̃ ἡ δὲ ψυχὴ αὐτου̃ εἰς κενὸν ἤλπισεν οὕτως ἔσται ὁ πλου̃τος πάντων τω̃ν ἐθνω̃ν ὅσοι ἐπεστράτευσαν ἐπὶ τὸ ὄρος Σιων (Ⅲ) - Et sicut somniat esuriens, et comedit,/ cum autem fuerit expergefactus, vacua est anima ejus ;/ et sicut somniat sitiens et bibit,/ et postquam fuerit expergefactus, lassus adhuc sitit,/ et anima ejus vacua est :/ sic erit multitudo omnium gentium/ quæ dimicaverunt contra montem Sion./ (Ⅳ) - 8 ׃29 והיה כאשר יחלם הרעב והנה אוכל והקיץ וריקה נפשו וכאשר יחלם הצמא והנה שתה והקיץ והנה עיף ונפשו שוקקה כן יהיה המון כל הגוים הצבאים על הר ציון ס (Ⅴ)

Stay yourselves, and wonder; cry ye out, and cry: they are drunken, but not with wine; they stagger, but not with strong drink.
- Soyez stupéfaits et étonnés! Fermez les yeux et devenez aveugles! Ils sont ivres, mais ce n'est pas de vin; Ils chancellent, mais ce n'est pas l'effet des liqueurs fortes. (Ⅱ) - ἐκλύθητε καὶ ἔκστητε καὶ κραιπαλήσατε οὐκ ἀπὸ σικερα οὐδὲ ἀπὸ οἴνου (Ⅲ) - Obstupescite et admiramini ;/ fluctuate et vacillate ;/ inebriamini, et non a vino ;/ movemini, et non ab ebrietate./ (Ⅳ) - 9 ׃29 התמהמהו ותמהו השתעשעו ושעו שכרו ולא יין נעו ולא שכר (Ⅴ)

For the LORD hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered.
- Car l'Éternel a répandu sur vous un esprit d'assoupissement; Il a fermé vos yeux (les prophètes), Il a voilé vos têtes (les voyants). (Ⅱ) - ὅτι πεπότικεν ὑμα̃ς κύριος πνεύματι κατανύξεως καὶ καμμύσει τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτω̃ν καὶ τω̃ν προφητω̃ν αὐτω̃ν καὶ τω̃ν ἀρχόντων αὐτω̃ν οἱ ὁρω̃ντες τὰ κρυπτά (Ⅲ) - Quoniam miscuit vobis Dominus/ spiritum soporis ; claudet oculos vestros :/ prophetas et principes vestros, qui vident visiones, operiet./ (Ⅳ) - 10 ׃29 כי נסך עליכם יהוה רוח תרדמה ויעצם את עיניכם את הנביאים ואת ראשיכם החזים כסה (Ⅴ)

And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed:
- Toute la révélation est pour vous comme les mots d'un livre cacheté Que l'on donne à un homme qui sait lire, en disant: Lis donc cela! Et qui répond: Je ne le puis, Car il est cacheté; (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔσονται ὑμι̃ν πάντα τὰ ῥήματα ταυ̃τα ὡς οἱ λόγοι του̃ βιβλίου του̃ ἐσφραγισμένου τούτου ὃ ἐὰν δω̃σιν αὐτὸ ἀνθρώπω̨ ἐπισταμένω̨ γράμματα λέγοντες ἀνάγνωθι ταυ̃τα καὶ ἐρει̃ οὐ δύναμαι ἀναγνω̃ναι ἐσφράγισται γάρ (Ⅲ) - Et erit vobis visio omnium/ sicut verba libri signati,/ quem cum dederint scienti litteras,/ dicent : Lege istum :/ et respondebit : Non possum, signatus est enim./ (Ⅳ) - 11 ׃29 ותהי לכם חזות הכל כדברי הספר החתום אשר יתנו אתו אל יודע *הספר **ספר לאמר קרא נא זה ואמר לא אוכל כי חתום הוא (Ⅴ)

And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned.
- Ou comme un livre que l'on donne A un homme qui ne sait pas lire, en disant: Lis donc cela! Et qui répond: Je ne sais pas lire. (Ⅱ) - καὶ δοθήσεται τὸ βιβλίον του̃το εἰς χει̃ρας ἀνθρώπου μὴ ἐπισταμένου γράμματα καὶ ἐρει̃ αὐτω̨̃ ἀνάγνωθι του̃το καὶ ἐρει̃ οὐκ ἐπίσταμαι γράμματα (Ⅲ) - Et dabitur liber nescienti litteras,/ diceturque ei : Lege ;/ et respondebit : Nescio litteras./ (Ⅳ) - 12 ׃29 ונתן הספר על אשר לא ידע ספר לאמר קרא נא זה ואמר לא ידעתי ספר ס (Ⅴ)

Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:
- Le Seigneur dit: Quand ce peuple s'approche de moi, Il m'honore de la bouche et des lèvres; Mais son coeur est éloigné de moi, Et la crainte qu'il a de moi N'est qu'un précepte de tradition humaine. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν κύριος ἐγγίζει μοι ὁ λαὸς οὑ̃τος τοι̃ς χείλεσιν αὐτω̃ν τιμω̃σίν με ἡ δὲ καρδία αὐτω̃ν πόρρω ἀπέχει ἀπ' ἐμου̃ μάτην δὲ σέβονταί με διδάσκοντες ἐντάλματα ἀνθρώπων καὶ διδασκαλίας (Ⅲ) - Et dixit Dominus : Eo quod appropinquat populus iste ore suo,/ et labiis suis glorificat me,/ cor autem ejus longe est a me,/ et timuerunt me mandato hominum et doctrinis,/ (Ⅳ) - 13 ׃29 ויאמר אדני יען כי נגש העם הזה בפיו ובשפתיו כבדוני ולבו רחק ממני ותהי יראתם אתי מצות אנשים מלמדה (Ⅴ)

Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.
- C'est pourquoi je frapperai encore ce peuple Par des prodiges et des miracles; Et la sagesse de ses sages périra, Et l'intelligence de ses hommes intelligents disparaîtra. (Ⅱ) - διὰ του̃το ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ προσθήσω του̃ μεταθει̃ναι τὸν λαὸν του̃τον καὶ μεταθήσω αὐτοὺς καὶ ἀπολω̃ τὴν σοφίαν τω̃ν σοφω̃ν καὶ τὴν σύνεσιν τω̃ν συνετω̃ν κρύψω (Ⅲ) - ideo ecce ego addam ut admirationem faciam/ populo huic miraculo grandi et stupendo ;/ peribit enim sapientia a sapientibus ejus,/ et intellectus prudentium ejus abscondetur./ (Ⅳ) - 14 ׃29 לכן הנני יוסף להפליא את העם הזה הפלא ופלא ואבדה חכמת חכמיו ובינת נבניו תסתתר ס (Ⅴ)

Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the LORD, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us?
- Malheur à ceux qui cachent leurs desseins Pour les dérober à l'Éternel, Qui font leurs oeuvres dans les ténèbres, Et qui disent: Qui nous voit et qui nous connaît? (Ⅱ) - οὐαὶ οἱ βαθέως βουλὴν ποιου̃ντες καὶ οὐ διὰ κυρίου οὐαὶ οἱ ἐν κρυφη̨̃ βουλὴν ποιου̃ντες καὶ ἔσται ἐν σκότει τὰ ἔργα αὐτω̃ν καὶ ἐρου̃σιν τίς ἡμα̃ς ἑώρακεν καὶ τίς ἡμα̃ς γνώσεται ἢ ἃ ἡμει̃ς ποιου̃μεν (Ⅲ) - Væ qui profundi estis corde,/ ut a Domino abscondatis consilium ;/ quorum sunt in tenebris opera,/ et dicunt : Quis videt nos ?/ et quis novit nos ?/ (Ⅳ) - 15 ׃29 הוי המעמיקים מיהוה לסתר עצה והיה במחשך מעשיהם ויאמרו מי ראנו ומי יודענו (Ⅴ)

Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter's clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?
- Quelle perversité est la vôtre! Le potier doit-il être considéré comme de l'argile, Pour que l'ouvrage dise de l'ouvrier: Il ne m'a point fait? Pour que le vase dise du potier: Il n'a point d'intelligence? (Ⅱ) - οὐχ ὡς ὁ πηλὸς του̃ κεραμέως λογισθήσεσθε μὴ ἐρει̃ τὸ πλάσμα τω̨̃ πλάσαντι οὐ σύ με ἔπλασας ἢ τὸ ποίημα τω̨̃ ποιήσαντι οὐ συνετω̃ς με ἐποίησας (Ⅲ) - Perversa est hæc vestra cogitatio ;/ quasi si lutum contra figulum cogitet,/ et dicat opus factori suo : Non fecisti me ;/ et figmentum dicat fictori suo : Non intelligis./ (Ⅳ) - 16 ׃29 הפככם אם כחמר היצר יחשב כי יאמר מעשה לעשהו לא עשני ויצר אמר ליוצרו לא הבין (Ⅴ)

Is it not yet a very little while, and Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field, and the fruitful field shall be esteemed as a forest?
- Encore un peu de temps, Et le Liban se changera en verger, Et le verger sera considéré comme une forêt. (Ⅱ) - οὐκέτι μικρὸν καὶ μετατεθήσεται ὁ Λίβανος ὡς τὸ ὄρος τὸ Χερμελ καὶ τὸ ὄρος τὸ Χερμελ εἰς δρυμὸν λογισθήσεται (Ⅲ) - Nonne adhuc in modico et in brevi/ convertetur Libanus in carmel,/ et carmel in saltum reputabitur ?/ (Ⅳ) - 17 ׃29 הלוא עוד מעט מזער ושב לבנון לכרמל והכרמל ליער יחשב (Ⅴ)

And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity, and out of darkness.
- En ce jour-là, les sourds entendront les paroles du livre; Et, délivrés de l'obscurité et des ténèbres, Les yeux des aveugles verront. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀκούσονται ἐν τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ ἐκείνη̨ κωφοὶ λόγους βιβλίου καὶ οἱ ἐν τω̨̃ σκότει καὶ οἱ ἐν τη̨̃ ὁμίχλη̨ ὀφθαλμοὶ τυφλω̃ν βλέψονται (Ⅲ) - Et audient in die illa surdi verba libri,/ et de tenebris et caligine oculi cæcorum videbunt./ (Ⅳ) - 18 ׃29 ושמעו ביום ההוא החרשים דברי ספר ומאפל ומחשך עיני עורים תראינה (Ⅴ)

The meek also shall increase their joy in the LORD, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.
- Les malheureux se réjouiront de plus en plus en l'Éternel, Et les pauvres feront du Saint d'Israël le sujet de leur allégresse. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀγαλλιάσονται πτωχοὶ διὰ κύριον ἐν εὐφροσύνη̨ καὶ οἱ ἀπηλπισμένοι τω̃ν ἀνθρώπων ἐμπλησθήσονται εὐφροσύνης (Ⅲ) - Et addent mites in Domino lætitiam,/ et pauperes homines in Sancto Israël exsultabunt ;/ (Ⅳ) - 19 ׃29 ויספו ענוים ביהוה שמחה ואביוני אדם בקדוש ישראל יגילו (Ⅴ)

For the terrible one is brought to nought, and the scorner is consumed, and all that watch for iniquity are cut off:
- Car le violent ne sera plus, le moqueur aura fini, Et tous ceux qui veillaient pour l'iniquité seront exterminés, (Ⅱ) - ἐξέλιπεν ἄνομος καὶ ἀπώλετο ὑπερήφανος καὶ ἐξωλεθρεύθησαν οἱ ἀνομου̃ντες ἐπὶ κακία̨ (Ⅲ) - quoniam defecit qui prævalebat, consummatus est illusor,/ et succisi sunt omnes qui vigilabant super iniquitatem,/ (Ⅳ) - 20 ׃29 כי אפס עריץ וכלה לץ ונכרתו כל שקדי און (Ⅴ)

That make a man an offender for a word, and lay a snare for him that reproveth in the gate, and turn aside the just for a thing of nought.
- Ceux qui condamnaient les autres en justice, Tendaient des pièges à qui défendait sa cause à la porte, Et violaient par la fraude les droits de l'innocent. (Ⅱ) - καὶ οἱ ποιου̃ντες ἁμαρτει̃ν ἀνθρώπους ἐν λόγω̨ πάντας δὲ τοὺς ἐλέγχοντας ἐν πύλαις πρόσκομμα θήσουσιν καὶ ἐπλαγίασαν ἐν ἀδίκοις δίκαιον (Ⅲ) - qui peccare faciebant homines in verbo,/ et arguentem in porta supplantabant,/ et declinaverunt frustra a justo./ (Ⅳ) - 21 ׃29 מחטיאי אדם בדבר ולמוכיח בשער יקשון ויטו בתהו צדיק ס (Ⅴ)

Therefore thus saith the LORD, who redeemed Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob, Jacob shall not now be ashamed, neither shall his face now wax pale.
- C'est pourquoi ainsi parle l'Éternel à la maison de Jacob, Lui qui a racheté Abraham: Maintenant Jacob ne rougira plus, Maintenant son visage ne pâlira plus. (Ⅱ) - διὰ του̃το τάδε λέγει κύριος ἐπὶ τὸν οἰ̃κον Ιακωβ ὃν ἀφώρισεν ἐξ Αβρααμ οὐ νυ̃ν αἰσχυνθήσεται Ιακωβ οὐδὲ νυ̃ν τὸ πρόσωπον μεταβαλει̃ Ισραηλ (Ⅲ) - Propter hoc, hæc dicit Dominus ad domum Jacob,/ qui redemit Abraham :/ Non modo confundetur Jacob,/ nec modo vultus ejus erubescet ;/ (Ⅳ) - 22 ׃29 לכן כה אמר יהוה אל בית יעקב אשר פדה את אברהם לא עתה יבוש יעקב ולא עתה פניו יחורו (Ⅴ)

But when he seeth his children, the work of mine hands, in the midst of him, they shall sanctify my name, and sanctify the Holy One of Jacob, and shall fear the God of Israel.
- Car, lorsque ses enfants verront au milieu d'eux l'oeuvre de mes mains, Ils sanctifieront mon nom; Ils sanctifieront le Saint de Jacob, Et ils craindront le Dieu d'Israël; (Ⅱ) - ἀλλ' ὅταν ἴδωσιν τὰ τέκνα αὐτω̃ν τὰ ἔργα μου δι' ἐμὲ ἁγιάσουσιν τὸ ὄνομά μου καὶ ἁγιάσουσιν τὸν ἅγιον Ιακωβ καὶ τὸν θεὸν του̃ Ισραηλ φοβηθήσονται (Ⅲ) - sed cum viderit filios suos,/ opera manuum mearum in medio sui/ sanctificantes nomen meum,/ et sanctificabunt Sanctum Jacob,/ et Deum Israël prædicabunt ;/ (Ⅳ) - 23 ׃29 כי בראתו ילדיו מעשה ידי בקרבו יקדישו שמי והקדישו את קדוש יעקב ואת אלהי ישראל יעריצו (Ⅴ)
