For, behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, doth take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water.

The captain of fifty, and the honourable man, and the counsellor, and the cunning artificer, and the eloquent orator.

And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them.

And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbour: the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honourable.
- Il y aura réciprocité d'oppression parmi le peuple; L'un opprimera l'autre, chacun son prochain; Le jeune homme attaquera le vieillard, Et l'homme de rien celui qui est honoré. (Ⅱ) - καὶ συμπεσει̃ται ὁ λαός ἄνθρωπος πρὸς ἄνθρωπον καὶ ἄνθρωπος πρὸς τὸν πλησίον αὐτου̃ προσκόψει τὸ παιδίον πρὸς τὸν πρεσβύτην ὁ ἄτιμος πρὸς τὸν ἔντιμον (Ⅲ) - et irruet populus, vir ad virum,/ et unusquisque ad proximum suum ;/ tumultuabitur puer contra senem,/ et ignobilis contra nobilem./ (Ⅳ) - 5 ׃3 ונגש העם איש באיש ואיש ברעהו ירהבו הנער בזקן והנקלה בנכבד (Ⅴ)

When a man shall take hold of his brother of the house of his father, saying, Thou hast clothing, be thou our ruler, and let this ruin be under thy hand:
- On ira jusqu'à saisir son frère dans la maison paternelle: Tu as un habit, sois notre chef! Prends ces ruines sous ta main! - (Ⅱ) - ὅτι ἐπιλήμψεται ἄνθρωπος του̃ ἀδελφου̃ αὐτου̃ ἢ του̃ οἰκείου του̃ πατρὸς αὐτου̃ λέγων ἱμάτιον ἔχεις ἀρχηγὸς ἡμω̃ν γενου̃ καὶ τὸ βρω̃μα τὸ ἐμὸν ὑπὸ σὲ ἔστω (Ⅲ) - Apprehendet enim vir fratrem suum,/ domesticum patris sui :/ Vestimentum tibi est, princeps esto noster,/ ruina autem hæc sub manu tua./ (Ⅳ) - 6 ׃3 כי יתפש איש באחיו בית אביו שמלה לכה קצין תהיה לנו והמכשלה הזאת תחת ידך (Ⅴ)

In that day shall he swear, saying, I will not be an healer; for in my house is neither bread nor clothing: make me not a ruler of the people.
- Ce jour-là même il répondra: Je ne saurais être un médecin, Et dans ma maison il n'y a ni pain ni vêtement; Ne m'établissez pas chef du peuple! (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ἐρει̃ ἐν τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ ἐκείνη̨ οὐκ ἔσομαί σου ἀρχηγός οὐ γὰρ ἔστιν ἐν τω̨̃ οἴκω̨ μου ἄρτος οὐδὲ ἱμάτιον οὐκ ἔσομαι ἀρχηγὸς του̃ λαου̃ τούτου (Ⅲ) - Respondebit in die illa, dicens :/ Non sum medicus,/ et in domo mea non est panis neque vestimentum :/ nolite constituere me principem populi./ (Ⅳ) - 7 ׃3 ישא ביום ההוא לאמר לא אהיה חבש ובביתי אין לחם ואין שמלה לא תשימני קצין עם (Ⅴ)

For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue and their doings are against the LORD, to provoke the eyes of his glory.
- Jérusalem chancelle, Et Juda s'écroule, Parce que leurs paroles et leurs oeuvres sont contre l'Éternel, Bravant les regards de sa majesté. (Ⅱ) - ὅτι ἀνει̃ται Ιερουσαλημ καὶ ἡ Ιουδαία συμπέπτωκεν καὶ αἱ γλω̃σσαι αὐτω̃ν μετὰ ἀνομίας τὰ πρὸς κύριον ἀπειθου̃ντες διότι νυ̃ν ἐταπεινώθη ἡ δόξα αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Ruit enim Jerusalem, et Judas concidit,/ quia lingua eorum et adinventiones eorum contra Dominum,/ ut provocarent oculos majestatis ejus./ (Ⅳ) - 8 ׃3 כי כשלה ירושלם ויהודה נפל כי לשונם ומעלליהם אל יהוה למרות עני כבודו (Ⅴ)

The shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves.
- L'aspect de leur visage témoigne contre eux, Et, comme Sodome, ils publient leur crime, sans dissimuler. Malheur à leur âme! Car ils se préparent des maux. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἡ αἰσχύνη του̃ προσώπου αὐτω̃ν ἀντέστη αὐτοι̃ς τὴν δὲ ἁμαρτίαν αὐτω̃ν ὡς Σοδομων ἀνήγγειλαν καὶ ἐνεφάνισαν οὐαὶ τη̨̃ ψυχη̨̃ αὐτω̃ν διότι βεβούλευνται βουλὴν πονηρὰν καθ' ἑαυτω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Agnitio vultus eorum respondit eis ;/ et peccatum suum quasi Sodoma prædicaverunt, nec absconderunt./ Væ animæ eorum, quoniam reddita sunt eis mala !/ (Ⅳ) - 9 ׃3 הכרת פניהם ענתה בם וחטאתם כסדם הגידו לא כחדו אוי לנפשם כי גמלו להם רעה (Ⅴ)

Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.
- Dites que le juste prospérera, Car il jouira du fruit de ses oeuvres. (Ⅱ) - εἰπόντες δήσωμεν τὸν δίκαιον ὅτι δύσχρηστος ἡμι̃ν ἐστιν τοίνυν τὰ γενήματα τω̃ν ἔργων αὐτω̃ν φάγονται (Ⅲ) - Dicite justo quoniam bene,/ quoniam fructum adinventionum suarum comedet./ (Ⅳ) - 10 ׃3 אמרו צדיק כי טוב כי פרי מעלליהם יאכלו (Ⅴ)

Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.
- Malheur au méchant! il sera dans l'infortune, Car il recueillera le produit de ses mains. (Ⅱ) - οὐαὶ τω̨̃ ἀνόμω̨ πονηρὰ κατὰ τὰ ἔργα τω̃ν χειρω̃ν αὐτου̃ συμβήσεται αὐτω̨̃ (Ⅲ) - Væ impio in malum !/ retributio enim manuum ejus fiet ei./ (Ⅳ) - 11 ׃3 אוי לרשע רע כי גמול ידיו יעשה לו (Ⅴ)

As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.
- Mon peuple a pour oppresseurs des enfants, Et des femmes dominent sur lui; Mon peuple, ceux qui te conduisent t'égarent, Et ils corrompent la voie dans laquelle tu marches. (Ⅱ) - λαός μου οἱ πράκτορες ὑμω̃ν καλαμω̃νται ὑμα̃ς καὶ οἱ ἀπαιτου̃ντες κυριεύουσιν ὑμω̃ν λαός μου οἱ μακαρίζοντες ὑμα̃ς πλανω̃σιν ὑμα̃ς καὶ τὸν τρίβον τω̃ν ποδω̃ν ὑμω̃ν ταράσσουσιν (Ⅲ) - Populum meum exactores sui spoliaverunt,/ et mulieres dominatæ sunt eis./ Popule meus, qui te beatum dicunt, ipsi te decipiunt,/ et viam gressuum tuorum dissipant./ (Ⅳ) - 12 ׃3 עמי נגשיו מעולל ונשים משלו בו עמי מאשריך מתעים ודרך ארחתיך בלעו ס (Ⅴ)

The LORD standeth up to plead, and standeth to judge the people.
- L'Éternel se présente pour plaider, Il est debout pour juger les peuples. (Ⅱ) - ἀλλὰ νυ̃ν καταστήσεται εἰς κρίσιν κύριος καὶ στήσει εἰς κρίσιν τὸν λαὸν αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - Stat ad judicandum Dominus,/ et stat ad judicandos populos./ (Ⅳ) - 13 ׃3 נצב לריב יהוה ועמד לדין עמים (Ⅴ)

The LORD will enter into judgment with the ancients of his people, and the princes thereof: for ye have eaten up the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses.
- L'Éternel entre en jugement Avec les anciens de son peuple et avec ses chefs: Vous avez brouté la vigne! La dépouille du pauvre est dans vos maisons! (Ⅱ) - αὐτὸς κύριος εἰς κρίσιν ἥξει μετὰ τω̃ν πρεσβυτέρων του̃ λαου̃ καὶ μετὰ τω̃ν ἀρχόντων αὐτου̃ ὑμει̃ς δὲ τί ἐνεπυρίσατε τὸν ἀμπελω̃νά μου καὶ ἡ ἁρπαγὴ του̃ πτωχου̃ ἐν τοι̃ς οἴκοις ὑμω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Dominus ad judicium veniet/ cum senibus populi sui, et principibus ejus ;/ vos enim depasti estis vineam,/ et rapina pauperis in domo vestra./ (Ⅳ) - 14 ׃3 יהוה במשפט יבוא עם זקני עמו ושריו ואתם בערתם הכרם גזלת העני בבתיכם (Ⅴ)

What mean ye that ye beat my people to pieces, and grind the faces of the poor? saith the Lord GOD of hosts.
- De quel droit foulez-vous mon peuple, Et écrasez-vous la face des pauvres? Dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel des armées. (Ⅱ) - τί ὑμει̃ς ἀδικει̃τε τὸν λαόν μου καὶ τὸ πρόσωπον τω̃ν πτωχω̃ν καταισχύνετε (Ⅲ) - Quare atteritis populum meum,/ et facies pauperum commolitis ?/ dicit Dominus Deus exercituum.]\ (Ⅳ) - 15 ׃3 *מלכם **מה **לכם[a] תדכאו עמי ופני עניים תטחנו נאם אדני יהוה צבאות ס (Ⅴ)

Moreover the LORD saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet:
- L'Éternel dit: Parce que les filles de Sion sont orgueilleuses, Et qu'elles marchent le cou tendu Et les regards effrontés, Parce qu'elles vont à petits pas, Et qu'elles font résonner les boucles de leurs pieds, (Ⅱ) - τάδε λέγει κύριος ἀνθ' ὡ̃ν ὑψώθησαν αἱ θυγατέρες Σιων καὶ ἐπορεύθησαν ὑψηλω̨̃ τραχήλω̨ καὶ ἐν νεύμασιν ὀφθαλμω̃ν καὶ τη̨̃ πορεία̨ τω̃ν ποδω̃ν ἅμα σύρουσαι τοὺς χιτω̃νας καὶ τοι̃ς ποσὶν ἅμα παίζουσαι (Ⅲ) - Et dixit Dominus :/ Pro eo quod elevatæ sunt filiæ Sion,/ et ambulaverunt extento collo,/ et nutibus oculorum ibant,/ et plaudebant, ambulabant pedibus suis,/ et composito gradu incedebant ;/ (Ⅳ) - 16 ׃3 ויאמר יהוה יען כי גבהו בנות ציון ותלכנה *נטוות **נטויות גרון ומשקרות עינים הלוך וטפף תלכנה וברגליהם תעכסנה (Ⅴ)

Therefore the LORD will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will discover their secret parts.
- Le Seigneur rendra chauve le sommet de la tête des filles de Sion, L'Éternel découvrira leur nudité. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ταπεινώσει ὁ θεὸς ἀρχούσας θυγατέρας Σιων καὶ κύριος ἀποκαλύψει τὸ σχη̃μα αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ) - decalvabit Dominus verticem filiarum Sion,/ et Dominus crinem earum nudabit./ (Ⅳ) - 17 ׃3 ושפח אדני קדקד בנות ציון ויהוה פתהן יערה ס (Ⅴ)

In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their cauls, and their round tires like the moon,
- En ce jour, le Seigneur ôtera les boucles qui servent d'ornement à leurs pieds, Et les filets et les croissants; (Ⅱ) - ἐν τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ ἐκείνη̨ καὶ ἀφελει̃ κύριος τὴν δόξαν του̃ ἱματισμου̃ αὐτω̃ν καὶ τοὺς κόσμους αὐτω̃ν καὶ τὰ ἐμπλόκια καὶ τοὺς κοσύμβους καὶ τοὺς μηνίσκους (Ⅲ) - In die illa auferet Dominus ornamentum calceamentum,/ (Ⅳ) - 18 ׃3 ביום ההוא יסיר אדני את תפארת העכסים והשביסים והשהרנים (Ⅴ)

The chains, and the bracelets, and the mufflers,
- Les pendants d'oreilles, les bracelets et les voiles; (Ⅱ) - καὶ τὸ κάθεμα καὶ τὸν κόσμον του̃ προσώπου αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ) - et lunulas, et torques,/ et monilia, et armillas, et mitras,/ (Ⅳ) - 19 ׃3 הנטיפות והשירות והרעלות (Ⅴ)

The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earrings,
- Les diadèmes, les chaînettes des pieds et les ceintures, Les boîtes de senteur et les amulettes; (Ⅱ) - καὶ τὴν σύνθεσιν του̃ κόσμου τη̃ς δόξης καὶ τοὺς χλιδω̃νας καὶ τὰ ψέλια καὶ τὸ ἐμπλόκιον καὶ τὰ περιδέξια καὶ τοὺς δακτυλίους καὶ τὰ ἐνώτια (Ⅲ) - et discriminalia, et periscelidas, et murenulas,/ et olfactoriola, et inaures,/ (Ⅳ) - 20 ׃3 הפארים והצעדות והקשרים ובתי הנפש והלחשים (Ⅴ)

The rings, and nose jewels,
- Les bagues et les anneaux du nez; (Ⅱ) - καὶ τὰ περιπόρφυρα καὶ τὰ μεσοπόρφυρα (Ⅲ) - et annulos, et gemmas in fronte pendentes,/ (Ⅳ) - 21 ׃3 הטבעות ונזמי האף (Ⅴ)

The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping pins,
- Les vêtements précieux et les larges tuniques, Les manteaux et les gibecières; (Ⅱ) - καὶ τὰ ἐπιβλήματα τὰ κατὰ τὴν οἰκίαν καὶ τὰ διαφανη̃ λακωνικὰ (Ⅲ) - et mutatoria, et palliola,/ et linteamina, et acus,/ (Ⅳ) - 22 ׃3 המחלצות והמעטפות והמטפחות והחריטים (Ⅴ)

The glasses, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the vails.
- Les miroirs et les chemises fines, Les turbans et les surtouts légers. (Ⅱ) - καὶ τὰ βύσσινα καὶ τὰ ὑακίνθινα καὶ τὰ κόκκινα καὶ τὴν βύσσον σὺν χρυσίω̨ καὶ ὑακίνθω̨ συγκαθυφασμένα καὶ θέριστρα κατάκλιτα (Ⅲ) - et specula, et sindones,/ et vittas, et theristra./ (Ⅳ) - 23 ׃3 והגלינים והסדינים והצניפות והרדידים (Ⅴ)

And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty.
- Au lieu de parfum, il y aura de l'infection; Au lieu de ceinture, une corde; Au lieu de cheveux bouclés, une tête chauve; Au lieu d'un large manteau, un sac étroit; Une marque flétrissante, au lieu de beauté. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔσται ἀντὶ ὀσμη̃ς ἡδείας κονιορτός καὶ ἀντὶ ζώνης σχοινίω̨ ζώση̨ καὶ ἀντὶ του̃ κόσμου τη̃ς κεφαλη̃ς του̃ χρυσίου φαλάκρωμα ἕξεις διὰ τὰ ἔργα σου καὶ ἀντὶ του̃ χιτω̃νος του̃ μεσοπορφύρου περιζώση̨ σάκκον (Ⅲ) - Et erit pro suavi odore fœtor,/ et pro zona funiculus,/ et pro crispanti crine calvitium,/ et pro fascia pectorali cilicium./ (Ⅳ) - 24 ׃3 והיה תחת בשם מק יהיה ותחת חגורה נקפה ותחת מעשה מקשה קרחה ותחת פתיגיל מחגרת שק כי תחת יפי (Ⅴ)

Thy men shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty in the war.
- Tes hommes tomberont sous le glaive, Et tes héros dans le combat. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ὁ υἱός σου ὁ κάλλιστος ὃν ἀγαπα̨̃ς μαχαίρα̨ πεσει̃ται καὶ οἱ ἰσχύοντες ὑμω̃ν μαχαίρα̨ πεσου̃νται (Ⅲ) - Pulcherrimi quoque viri tui gladio cadent,/ et fortes tui in prælio./ (Ⅳ) - 25 ׃3 מתיך בחרב יפלו וגבורתך במלחמה (Ⅴ)

And her gates shall lament and mourn; and she being desolate shall sit upon the ground.
- Les portes de Sion gémiront et seront dans le deuil; Dépouillée, elle s'assiéra par terre. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ταπεινωθήσονται καὶ πενθήσουσιν αἱ θη̃και του̃ κόσμου ὑμω̃ν καὶ καταλειφθήση̨ μόνη καὶ εἰς τὴν γη̃ν ἐδαφισθήση̨ (Ⅲ) - Et mœrebunt atque lugebunt portæ ejus,/ et desolata in terra sedebit.] (Ⅳ) - 26 ׃3 ואנו ואבלו פתחיה ונקתה לארץ תשב (Ⅴ)
