57. 1  
The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come.
- Le juste périt, et nul n'y prend garde; Les gens de bien sont enlevés, et nul ne fait attention Que c'est par suite de la malice que le juste est enlevé. (Ⅱ)
- ἴδετε ὡς ὁ δίκαιος ἀπώλετο καὶ οὐδεὶς ἐκδέχεται τη̨̃ καρδία̨ καὶ ἄνδρες δίκαιοι αἴρονται καὶ οὐδεὶς κατανοει̃ ἀπὸ γὰρ προσώπου ἀδικίας ἠ̃ρται ὁ δίκαιος (Ⅲ)
- Justus perit,/ et non est qui recogitet in corde suo ;/ et viri misericordiæ colliguntur,/ quia non est qui intelligat :/ a facie enim malitiæ collectus est justus./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 1  ׃57  הצדיק אבד ואין איש שם על לב ואנשי חסד נאספים באין מבין כי מפני הרעה נאסף הצדיק ‬ (Ⅴ)
57. 2  
He shall enter into peace: they shall rest in their beds, each one walking in his uprightness.
- Il entrera dans la paix, Il reposera sur sa couche, Celui qui aura suivi le droit chemin. (Ⅱ)
- ἔσται ἐν εἰρήνη̨ ἡ ταφὴ αὐτου̃ ἠ̃ρται ἐκ του̃ μέσου (Ⅲ)
- Veniat pax ;/ requiescat in cubili suo/ qui ambulavit in directione sua./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 2  ׃57  יבוא שלום ינוחו על משכבותם הלך נכחו ‬ (Ⅴ)
57. 3  
But draw near hither, ye sons of the sorceress, the seed of the adulterer and the whore.
- Mais vous, approchez ici, fils de l'enchanteresse, Race de l'adultère et de la prostituée! (Ⅱ)
- ὑμει̃ς δὲ προσαγάγετε ὡ̃δε υἱοὶ ἄνομοι σπέρμα μοιχω̃ν καὶ πόρνης (Ⅲ)
- Vos autem accedite huc,/ filii auguratricis,/ semen adulteri et fornicariæ./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 3  ׃57  ואתם קרבו הנה בני עננה זרע מנאף ותזנה ‬ (Ⅴ)
57. 4  
Against whom do ye sport yourselves? against whom make ye a wide mouth, and draw out the tongue? are ye not children of transgression, a seed of falsehood.
- De qui vous moquez-vous? Contre qui ouvrez-vous une large bouche Et tirez-vous la langue? N'êtes-vous pas des enfants de péché, Une race de mensonge, (Ⅱ)
- ἐν τίνι ἐνετρυφήσατε καὶ ἐπὶ τίνα ἠνοίξατε τὸ στόμα ὑμω̃ν καὶ ἐπὶ τίνα ἐχαλάσατε τὴν γλω̃σσαν ὑμω̃ν οὐχ ὑμει̃ς ἐστε τέκνα ἀπωλείας σπέρμα ἄνομον (Ⅲ)
- Super quem lusistis ?/ super quem dilatastis os,/ et ejecistis linguam ?/ Numquid non vos filii scelesti,/ semen mendax,/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 4  ׃57  על מי תתענגו על מי תרחיבו פה תאריכו לשון הלוא אתם ילדי פשע זרע שקר ‬ (Ⅴ)
57. 5  
Enflaming yourselves with idols under every green tree, slaying the children in the valleys under the clifts of the rocks?
- S'échauffant près des térébinthes, sous tout arbre vert, Égorgeant les enfants dans les vallées, Sous des fentes de rochers? (Ⅱ)
- οἱ παρακαλου̃ντες ἐπὶ τὰ εἴδωλα ὑπὸ δένδρα δασέα σφάζοντες τὰ τέκνα αὐτω̃ν ἐν ται̃ς φάραγξιν ἀνὰ μέσον τω̃ν πετρω̃ν (Ⅲ)
- qui consolamini in diis/ subter omne lignum frondosum,/ immolantes parvulos in torrentibus,/ subter eminentes petras ?/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 5  ׃57  הנחמים באלים תחת כל עץ רענן שחטי הילדים בנחלים תחת סעפי הסלעים ‬ (Ⅴ)
57. 6  
Among the smooth stones of the stream is thy portion; they, they are thy lot: even to them hast thou poured a drink offering, thou hast offered a meat offering. Should I receive comfort in these?
- C'est dans les pierres polies des torrents qu'est ton partage, Voilà, voilà ton lot; C'est à elles que tu verses des libations, Que tu fais des offrandes: Puis-je être insensible à cela? (Ⅱ)
- ἐκείνη σου ἡ μερίς οὑ̃τός σου ὁ κλη̃ρος κἀκείνοις ἐξέχεας σπονδὰς κἀκείνοις ἀνήνεγκας θυσίας ἐπὶ τούτοις οὐ̃ν οὐκ ὀργισθήσομαι (Ⅲ)
- In partibus torrentis pars tua ;/ hæc est sors tua :/ et ipsis effudisti libamen,/ obtulisti sacrificium./ Numquid super his non indignabor ?/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 6  ׃57  בחלקי נחל חלקך הם הם גורלך גם להם שפכת נסך העלית מנחה העל אלה אנחם ‬ (Ⅴ)
57. 7  
Upon a lofty and high mountain hast thou set thy bed: even thither wentest thou up to offer sacrifice.
- C'est sur une montagne haute et élevée que tu dresses ta couche; C'est aussi là que tu montes pour offrir des sacrifices. (Ⅱ)
- ἐπ' ὄρος ὑψηλὸν καὶ μετέωρον ἐκει̃ σου ἡ κοίτη κἀκει̃ ἀνεβίβασας θυσίας (Ⅲ)
- Super montem excelsum et sublimem/ posuisti cubile tuum,/ et illuc ascendisti/ ut immolares hostias./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 7  ׃57  על הר גבה ונשא שמת משכבך גם שם עלית לזבח זבח ‬ (Ⅴ)
57. 8  
Behind the doors also and the posts hast thou set up thy remembrance: for thou hast discovered thyself to another than me, and art gone up; thou hast enlarged thy bed, and made thee a covenant with them; thou lovedst their bed where thou sawest it.
- Tu mets ton souvenir derrière la porte et les poteaux; Car, loin de moi, tu lèves la couverture et tu montes, Tu élargis ta couche, et tu traites alliance avec eux, Tu aimes leur commerce, tu choisis une place. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ὀπίσω τω̃ν σταθμω̃ν τη̃ς θύρας σου ἔθηκας μνημόσυνά σου ὤ̨ου ὅτι ἐὰν ἀπ' ἐμου̃ ἀποστη̨̃ς πλει̃όν τι ἕξεις ἠγάπησας τοὺς κοιμωμένους μετὰ σου̃ (Ⅲ)
- Et post ostium, et retro postem,/ posuisti memoriale tuum./ Quia juxta me discooperuisti,/ et suscepisti adulterum, dilatasti cubile tuum,/ et pepigisti cum eis fœdus ;/ dilexisti stratum eorum/ manu aperta./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 8  ׃57  ואחר הדלת והמזוזה שמת זכרונך כי מאתי גלית ותעלי הרחבת משכבך ותכרת לך מהם אהבת משכבם יד חזית ‬ (Ⅴ)
57. 9  
And thou wentest to the king with ointment, and didst increase thy perfumes, and didst send thy messengers far off, and didst debase thyself even unto hell.
- Tu vas auprès du roi avec de l'huile, Tu multiplies tes aromates, Tu envoies au loin tes messagers, Tu t'abaisses jusqu'au séjour des morts. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἐπλήθυνας τὴν πορνείαν σου μετ' αὐτω̃ν καὶ πολλοὺς ἐποίησας τοὺς μακρὰν ἀπὸ σου̃ καὶ ἀπέστειλας πρέσβεις ὑπὲρ τὰ ὅριά σου καὶ ἀπέστρεψας καὶ ἐταπεινώθης ἕως ἅ̨δου (Ⅲ)
- Et ornasti te regi unguento,/ et multiplicasti pigmenta tua./ Misisti legatos tuos procul,/ et humiliata es usque ad inferos./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 9  ׃57  ותשרי למלך בשמן ותרבי רקחיך ותשלחי צריך עד מרחק ותשפילי עד שאול ‬ (Ⅴ)
57. 10  
Thou art wearied in the greatness of thy way; yet saidst thou not, There is no hope: thou hast found the life of thine hand; therefore thou wast not grieved.
- A force de marcher tu te fatigues, Et tu ne dis pas: J'y renonce! Tu trouves encore de la vigueur dans ta main: Aussi n'es-tu pas dans l'abattement. (Ⅱ)
- ται̃ς πολυοδίαις σου ἐκοπίασας καὶ οὐκ εἰ̃πας παύσομαι ἐνισχύουσα ὅτι ἔπραξας ταυ̃τα διὰ του̃το οὐ κατεδεήθης μου (Ⅲ)
- In multitudine viæ tuæ laborasti ;/ non dixisti : Quiescam./ Vitam manus tuæ invenisti ;/ propterea non rogasti./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 10 ׃57  ברב דרכך יגעת לא אמרת נואש חית ידך מצאת על כן לא חלית ‬ (Ⅴ)
57. 11  
And of whom hast thou been afraid or feared, that thou hast lied, and hast not remembered me, nor laid it to thy heart? have not I held my peace even of old, and thou fearest me not?
- Et qui redoutais-tu, qui craignais-tu, pour être infidèle, Pour ne pas te souvenir, te soucier de moi? Est-ce que je ne garde pas le silence, et depuis longtemps? C'est pourquoi tu ne me crains pas. (Ⅱ)
- σύ τίνα εὐλαβηθει̃σα ἐφοβήθης καὶ ἐψεύσω με καὶ οὐκ ἐμνήσθης μου οὐδὲ ἔλαβές με εἰς τὴν διάνοιαν οὐδὲ εἰς τὴν καρδίαν σου κἀγώ σε ἰδὼν παρορω̃ καὶ ἐμὲ οὐκ ἐφοβήθης (Ⅲ)
- Pro quo sollicita timuisti,/ quia mentita es,/ et mei non es recordata,/ neque cogitasti in corde tuo ?/ Quia ego tacens et quasi non videns,/ et mei oblita es./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 11 ׃57  ואת מי דאגת ותיראי כי תכזבי ואותי לא זכרת לא שמת על לבך הלא אני מחשה ומעלם ואותי לא תיראי ‬ (Ⅴ)
57. 12  
I will declare thy righteousness, and thy works; for they shall not profit thee.
- Je vais publier ta droiture, Et tes oeuvres ne te profiteront pas. (Ⅱ)
- κἀγὼ ἀπαγγελω̃ τὴν δικαιοσύνην μου καὶ τὰ κακά σου ἃ οὐκ ὠφελήσουσίν σε (Ⅲ)
- Ego annuntiabo justitiam tuam,/ et opera tua non proderunt tibi./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 12 ׃57  אני אגיד צדקתך ואת מעשיך ולא יועילוך ‬ (Ⅴ)
57. 13  
When thou criest, let thy companies deliver thee; but the wind shall carry them all away; vanity shall take them: but he that putteth his trust in me shall possess the land, and shall inherit my holy mountain;
- Quand tu crieras, la foule de tes idoles te délivrera-t-elle? Le vent les emportera toutes, un souffle les enlèvera. Mais celui qui se confie en moi héritera le pays, Et possédera ma montagne sainte. (Ⅱ)
- ὅταν ἀναβοήση̨ς ἐξελέσθωσάν σε ἐν τη̨̃ θλίψει σου τούτους γὰρ πάντας ἄνεμος λήμψεται καὶ ἀποίσει καταιγίς οἱ δὲ ἀντεχόμενοί μου κτήσονται γη̃ν καὶ κληρονομήσουσιν τὸ ὄρος τὸ ἅγιόν μου (Ⅲ)
- Cum clamaveris, liberent te congregati tui,/ et omnes eos auferet ventus,/ tollet aura.]\ [Qui autem fiduciam habet mei, hæreditabit terram,/ et possidebit montem sanctum meum./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 13 ׃57  בזעקך יצילך קבוציך ואת כלם ישא רוח יקח הבל והחוסה בי ינחל ארץ ויירש הר קדשי ‬ (Ⅴ)
57. 14  
And shall say, Cast ye up, cast ye up, prepare the way, take up the stumblingblock out of the way of my people.
- On dira: Frayez, frayez, préparez le chemin, Enlevez tout obstacle du chemin de mon peuple! (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἐρου̃σιν καθαρίσατε ἀπὸ προσώπου αὐτου̃ ὁδοὺς καὶ ἄρατε σκω̃λα ἀπὸ τη̃ς ὁδου̃ του̃ λαου̃ μου (Ⅲ)
- Et dicam : Viam facite, præbete iter ; declinate de semita,/ auferte offendicula de via populi mei./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 14 ׃57  ואמר סלו סלו פנו דרך הרימו מכשול מדרך עמי ס‬ (Ⅴ)
57. 15  
For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
- Car ainsi parle le Très Haut, Dont la demeure est éternelle et dont le nom est saint: J'habite dans les lieux élevés et dans la sainteté; Mais je suis avec l'homme contrit et humilié, Afin de ranimer les esprits humiliés, Afin de ranimer les coeurs contrits. (Ⅱ)
- τάδε λέγει κύριος ὁ ὕψιστος ὁ ἐν ὑψηλοι̃ς κατοικω̃ν τὸν αἰω̃να ἅγιος ἐν ἁγίοις ὄνομα αὐτω̨̃ κύριος ὕψιστος ἐν ἁγίοις ἀναπαυόμενος καὶ ὀλιγοψύχοις διδοὺς μακροθυμίαν καὶ διδοὺς ζωὴν τοι̃ς συντετριμμένοις τὴν καρδίαν (Ⅲ)
- Quia hæc dicit Excelsus,/ et Sublimis, habitans æternitatem, et sanctum nomen ejus :/ in excelso et in sancto habitans,/ et cum contrito et humili spiritu :/ ut vivificet spiritum humilium,/ et vivificet cor contritorum./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 15 ׃57  כי כה אמר רם ונשא שכן עד וקדוש שמו מרום וקדוש אשכון ואת דכא ושפל רוח להחיות רוח שפלים ולהחיות לב נדכאים ‬ (Ⅴ)
57. 16  
For I will not contend for ever, neither will I be always wroth: for the spirit should fail before me, and the souls which I have made.
- Je ne veux pas contester à toujours, Ni garder une éternelle colère, Quand devant moi tombent en défaillance les esprits, Les âmes que j'ai faites. (Ⅱ)
- οὐκ εἰς τὸν αἰω̃να ἐκδικήσω ὑμα̃ς οὐδὲ διὰ παντὸς ὀργισθήσομαι ὑμι̃ν πνευ̃μα γὰρ παρ' ἐμου̃ ἐξελεύσεται καὶ πνοὴν πα̃σαν ἐγὼ ἐποίησα (Ⅲ)
- Non enim in sempiternum litigabo,/ neque usque ad finem irascar,/ quia spiritus a facie mea egredietur,/ et flatus ego faciam./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 16 ׃57  כי לא לעולם אריב ולא לנצח אקצוף כי רוח מלפני יעטוף ונשמות אני עשיתי ‬ (Ⅴ)
57. 17  
For the iniquity of his covetousness was I wroth, and smote him: I hid me, and was wroth, and he went on frowardly in the way of his heart.
- A cause de son avidité coupable, je me suis irrité et je l'ai frappé, Je me suis caché dans mon indignation; Et le rebelle a suivi le chemin de son coeur. (Ⅱ)
- δι' ἁμαρτίαν βραχύ τι ἐλύπησα αὐτὸν καὶ ἐπάταξα αὐτὸν καὶ ἀπέστρεψα τὸ πρόσωπόν μου ἀπ' αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐλυπήθη καὶ ἐπορεύθη στυγνὸς ἐν ται̃ς ὁδοι̃ς αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)
- Propter iniquitatem avaritiæ ejus iratus sum, et percussi eum./ Abscondi a te faciem meam, et indignatus sum ;/ et abiit vagus in via cordis sui./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 17 ׃57  בעון בצעו קצפתי ואכהו הסתר ואקצף וילך שובב בדרך לבו ‬ (Ⅴ)
57. 18  
I have seen his ways, and will heal him: I will lead him also, and restore comforts unto him and to his mourners.
- J'ai vu ses voies, Et je le guérirai; Je lui servirai de guide, Et je le consolerai, lui et ceux qui pleurent avec lui. (Ⅱ)
- τὰς ὁδοὺς αὐτου̃ ἑώρακα καὶ ἰασάμην αὐτὸν καὶ παρεκάλεσα αὐτὸν καὶ ἔδωκα αὐτω̨̃ παράκλησιν ἀληθινήν (Ⅲ)
- Vias ejus vidi, et sanavi eum ;/ et reduxi eum, et reddidi consolationes/ ipsi, et lugentibus ejus./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 18 ׃57  דרכיו ראיתי וארפאהו ואנחהו ואשלם נחמים לו ולאבליו ‬ (Ⅴ)
57. 19  
I create the fruit of the lips; Peace, peace to him that is far off, and to him that is near, saith the LORD; and I will heal him.
- Je mettrai la louange sur les lèvres. Paix, paix à celui qui est loin et à celui qui est près! dit l'Éternel. Je les guérirai. (Ⅱ)
- εἰρήνην ἐπ' εἰρήνην τοι̃ς μακρὰν καὶ τοι̃ς ἐγγὺς οὐ̃σιν καὶ εἰ̃πεν κύριος ἰάσομαι αὐτούς (Ⅲ)
- Creavi fructum labiorum pacem ;/ pacem ei qui longe est et qui prope,/ dixit Dominus, et sanavi eum./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 19 ׃57  בורא *נוב **ניב שפתים שלום שלום לרחוק ולקרוב אמר יהוה ורפאתיו ‬ (Ⅴ)
57. 20  
But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.
- Mais les méchants sont comme la mer agitée, Qui ne peut se calmer, Et dont les eaux soulèvent la vase et le limon. (Ⅱ)
- οἱ δὲ ἄδικοι οὕτως κλυδωνισθήσονται καὶ ἀναπαύσασθαι οὐ δυνήσονται (Ⅲ)
- Impii autem quasi mare fervens,/ quod quiescere non potest,/ et redundant fluctus ejus in conculcationem et lutum./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 20 ׃57  והרשעים כים נגרש כי השקט לא יוכל ויגרשו מימיו רפש וטיט ‬ (Ⅴ)
57. 21  
There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.
- Il n'y a point de paix pour les méchants, dit mon Dieu. (Ⅱ)
- οὐκ ἔστιν χαίρειν τοι̃ς ἀσεβέσιν εἰ̃πεν κύριος ὁ θεός (Ⅲ)
- Non est pax impiis, dicit Dominus Deus.] (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 21 ׃57  אין שלום אמר אלהי לרשעים ס‬ (Ⅴ)
