Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.
- Crie à plein gosier, ne te retiens pas, Élève ta voix comme une trompette, Et annonce à mon peuple ses iniquités, A la maison de Jacob ses péchés! (Ⅱ) - ἀναβόησον ἐν ἰσχύι καὶ μὴ φείση̨ ὡς σάλπιγγα ὕψωσον τὴν φωνήν σου καὶ ἀνάγγειλον τω̨̃ λαω̨̃ μου τὰ ἁμαρτήματα αὐτω̃ν καὶ τω̨̃ οἴκω̨ Ιακωβ τὰς ἀνομίας αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Clama, ne cesses,/ quasi tuba exalta vocem tuam,/ et annuntia populo meo scelera eorum,/ et domui Jacob peccata eorum./ (Ⅳ) - 1 ׃58 קרא בגרון אל תחשך כשופר הרם קולך והגד לעמי פשעם ולבית יעקב חטאתם (Ⅴ)

Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and forsook not the ordinance of their God: they ask of me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching to God.
- Tous les jours ils me cherchent, Ils veulent connaître mes voies; Comme une nation qui aurait pratiqué la justice Et n'aurait pas abandonné la loi de son Dieu, Ils me demandent des arrêts de justice, Ils désirent l'approche de Dieu. - (Ⅱ) - ἐμὲ ἡμέραν ἐξ ἡμέρας ζητου̃σιν καὶ γνω̃ναί μου τὰς ὁδοὺς ἐπιθυμου̃σιν ὡς λαὸς δικαιοσύνην πεποιηκὼς καὶ κρίσιν θεου̃ αὐτου̃ μὴ ἐγκαταλελοιπὼς αἰτου̃σίν με νυ̃ν κρίσιν δικαίαν καὶ ἐγγίζειν θεω̨̃ ἐπιθυμου̃σιν (Ⅲ) - Me etenim de die in diem quærunt,/ et scire vias meas volunt,/ quasi gens quæ justitiam fecerit,/ et judicium Dei sui non dereliquerit./ Rogant me judicia justitiæ ;/ appropinquare Deo volunt./ (Ⅳ) - 2 ׃58 ואותי יום יום ידרשון ודעת דרכי יחפצון כגוי אשר צדקה עשה ומשפט אלהיו לא עזב ישאלוני משפטי צדק קרבת אלהים יחפצון (Ⅴ)

Wherefore have we fasted, say they, and thou seest not? wherefore have we afflicted our soul, and thou takest no knowledge? Behold, in the day of your fast ye find pleasure, and exact all your labours.
- Que nous sert de jeûner, si tu ne le vois pas? De mortifier notre âme, si tu n'y as point égard? -Voici, le jour de votre jeûne, vous vous livrez à vos penchants, Et vous traitez durement tous vos mercenaires. (Ⅱ) - λέγοντες τί ὅτι ἐνηστεύσαμεν καὶ οὐκ εἰ̃δες ἐταπεινώσαμεν τὰς ψυχὰς ἡμω̃ν καὶ οὐκ ἔγνως ἐν γὰρ ται̃ς ἡμέραις τω̃ν νηστειω̃ν ὑμω̃ν εὑρίσκετε τὰ θελήματα ὑμω̃ν καὶ πάντας τοὺς ὑποχειρίους ὑμω̃ν ὑπονύσσετε (Ⅲ) - Quare jejunavimus, et non aspexisti ;/ humiliavimus animas nostras, et nescisti ?/ Ecce in die jejunii vestri invenitur voluntas vestra,/ et omnes debitores vestros repetitis./ (Ⅳ) - 3 ׃58 למה צמנו ולא ראית ענינו נפשנו ולא תדע הן ביום צמכם תמצאו חפץ וכל עצביכם תנגשו (Ⅴ)

Behold, ye fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness: ye shall not fast as ye do this day, to make your voice to be heard on high.
- Voici, vous jeûnez pour disputer et vous quereller, Pour frapper méchamment du poing; Vous ne jeûnez pas comme le veut ce jour, Pour que votre voix soit entendue en haut. (Ⅱ) - εἰ εἰς κρίσεις καὶ μάχας νηστεύετε καὶ τύπτετε πυγμαι̃ς ταπεινόν ἵνα τί μοι νηστεύετε ὡς σήμερον ἀκουσθη̃ναι ἐν κραυγη̨̃ τὴν φωνὴν ὑμω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Ecce ad lites et contentiones jejunatis,/ et percutitis pugno impie./ Nolite jejunare sicut usque ad hanc diem,/ ut audiatur in excelso clamor vester./ (Ⅳ) - 4 ׃58 הן לריב ומצה תצומו ולהכות באגרף רשע לא תצומו כיום להשמיע במרום קולכם (Ⅴ)

Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD?
- Est-ce là le jeûne auquel je prends plaisir, Un jour où l'homme humilie son âme? Courber la tête comme un jonc, Et se coucher sur le sac et la cendre, Est-ce là ce que tu appelleras un jeûne, Un jour agréable à l'Éternel? (Ⅱ) - οὐ ταύτην τὴν νηστείαν ἐξελεξάμην καὶ ἡμέραν ταπεινου̃ν ἄνθρωπον τὴν ψυχὴν αὐτου̃ οὐδ' ἂν κάμψη̨ς ὡς κρίκον τὸν τράχηλόν σου καὶ σάκκον καὶ σποδὸν ὑποστρώση̨ οὐδ' οὕτως καλέσετε νηστείαν δεκτήν (Ⅲ) - Numquid tale est jejunium quod elegi,/ per diem affligere hominem animam suam ?/ numquid contorquere quasi circulum caput suum,/ et saccum et cinerem sternere ?/ numquid istud vocabis jejunium,/ et diem acceptabilem Domino ?]\ (Ⅳ) - 5 ׃58 הכזה יהיה צום אבחרהו יום ענות אדם נפשו הלכף כאגמן ראשו ושק ואפר יציע הלזה תקרא צום ויום רצון ליהוה (Ⅴ)

Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?
- Voici le jeûne auquel je prends plaisir: Détache les chaînes de la méchanceté, Dénoue les liens de la servitude, Renvoie libres les opprimés, Et que l'on rompe toute espèce de joug; (Ⅱ) - οὐχὶ τοιαύτην νηστείαν ἐγὼ ἐξελεξάμην λέγει κύριος ἀλλὰ λυ̃ε πάντα σύνδεσμον ἀδικίας διάλυε στραγγαλιὰς βιαίων συναλλαγμάτων ἀπόστελλε τεθραυσμένους ἐν ἀφέσει καὶ πα̃σαν συγγραφὴν ἄδικον διάσπα (Ⅲ) - Nonne hoc est magis jejunium quod elegi ?/ Dissolve colligationes impietatis,/ solve fasciculos deprimentes,/ dimitte eos qui confracti sunt liberos,/ et omne onus dirumpe ;/ (Ⅳ) - 6 ׃58 הלוא זה צום אבחרהו פתח חרצבות רשע התר אגדות מוטה ושלח רצוצים חפשים וכל מוטה תנתקו (Ⅴ)

Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?
- Partage ton pain avec celui qui a faim, Et fais entrer dans ta maison les malheureux sans asile; Si tu vois un homme nu, couvre-le, Et ne te détourne pas de ton semblable. (Ⅱ) - διάθρυπτε πεινω̃ντι τὸν ἄρτον σου καὶ πτωχοὺς ἀστέγους εἴσαγε εἰς τὸν οἰ̃κόν σου ἐὰν ἴδη̨ς γυμνόν περίβαλε καὶ ἀπὸ τω̃ν οἰκείων του̃ σπέρματός σου οὐχ ὑπερόψη̨ (Ⅲ) - frange esurienti panem tuum,/ et egenos vagosque induc in domum tuam ;/ cum videris nudum, operi eum,/ et carnem tuam ne despexeris./ (Ⅳ) - 7 ׃58 הלוא פרס לרעב לחמך ועניים מרודים תביא בית כי תראה ערם וכסיתו ומבשרך לא תתעלם (Ⅴ)

Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy rereward.
- Alors ta lumière poindra comme l'aurore, Et ta guérison germera promptement; Ta justice marchera devant toi, Et la gloire de l'Éternel t'accompagnera. (Ⅱ) - τότε ῥαγήσεται πρόιμον τὸ φω̃ς σου καὶ τὰ ἰάματά σου ταχὺ ἀνατελει̃ καὶ προπορεύσεται ἔμπροσθέν σου ἡ δικαιοσύνη σου καὶ ἡ δόξα του̃ θεου̃ περιστελει̃ σε (Ⅲ) - Tunc erumpet quasi mane lumen tuum ;/ et sanitas tua citius orietur,/ et anteibit faciem tuam justitia tua,/ et gloria Domini colliget te./ (Ⅳ) - 8 ׃58 אז יבקע כשחר אורך וארכתך מהרה תצמח והלך לפניך צדקך כבוד יהוה יאספך (Ⅴ)

Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity;
- Alors tu appelleras, et l'Éternel répondra; Tu crieras, et il dira: Me voici! Si tu éloignes du milieu de toi le joug, Les gestes menaçants et les discours injurieux, (Ⅱ) - τότε βοήση̨ καὶ ὁ θεὸς εἰσακούσεταί σου ἔτι λαλου̃ντός σου ἐρει̃ ἰδοὺ πάρειμι ἐὰν ἀφέλη̨ς ἀπὸ σου̃ σύνδεσμον καὶ χειροτονίαν καὶ ῥη̃μα γογγυσμου̃ (Ⅲ) - Tunc invocabis, et Dominus exaudiet ;/ clamabis, et dicet : Ecce adsum./ Si abstuleris de medio tui catenam,/ et desieris extendere digitum et loqui quod non prodest ;/ (Ⅳ) - 9 ׃58 אז תקרא ויהוה יענה תשוע ויאמר הנני אם תסיר מתוכך מוטה שלח אצבע ודבר און (Ⅴ)

And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noon day:
- Si tu donnes ta propre subsistance à celui qui a faim, Si tu rassasies l'âme indigente, Ta lumière se lèvera sur l'obscurité, Et tes ténèbres seront comme le midi. (Ⅱ) - καὶ δω̨̃ς πεινω̃ντι τὸν ἄρτον ἐκ ψυχη̃ς σου καὶ ψυχὴν τεταπεινωμένην ἐμπλήση̨ς τότε ἀνατελει̃ ἐν τω̨̃ σκότει τὸ φω̃ς σου καὶ τὸ σκότος σου ὡς μεσημβρία (Ⅲ) - cum effuderis esurienti animam tuam,/ et animam afflictam repleveris,/ orietur in tenebris lux tua,/ et tenebræ tuæ erunt sicut meridies./ (Ⅳ) - 10 ׃58 ותפק לרעב נפשך ונפש נענה תשביע וזרח בחשך אורך ואפלתך כצהרים (Ⅴ)

And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.
- L'Éternel sera toujours ton guide, Il rassasiera ton âme dans les lieux arides, Et il redonnera de la vigueur à tes membres; Tu seras comme un jardin arrosé, Comme une source dont les eaux ne tarissent pas. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔσται ὁ θεός σου μετὰ σου̃ διὰ παντός καὶ ἐμπλησθήση̨ καθάπερ ἐπιθυμει̃ ἡ ψυχή σου καὶ τὰ ὀστα̃ σου πιανθήσεται καὶ ἔση̨ ὡς κη̃πος μεθύων καὶ ὡς πηγὴ ἣν μὴ ἐξέλιπεν ὕδωρ καὶ τὰ ὀστα̃ σου ὡς βοτάνη ἀνατελει̃ καὶ πιανθήσεται καὶ κληρονομήσουσι γενεὰς γενεω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Et requiem tibi dabit Dominus semper,/ et implebit splendoribus animam tuam,/ et ossa tua liberabit ;/ et eris quasi hortus irriguus,/ et sicut fons aquarum/ cujus non deficient aquæ./ (Ⅳ) - 11 ׃58 ונחך יהוה תמיד והשביע בצחצחות נפשך ועצמתיך יחליץ והיית כגן רוה וכמוצא מים אשר לא יכזבו מימיו (Ⅴ)

And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.
- Les tiens rebâtiront sur d'anciennes ruines, Tu relèveras des fondements antiques; On t'appellera réparateur des brèches, Celui qui restaure les chemins, qui rend le pays habitable. (Ⅱ) - καὶ οἰκοδομηθήσονταί σου αἱ ἔρημοι αἰώνιοι καὶ ἔσται σου τὰ θεμέλια αἰώνια γενεω̃ν γενεαι̃ς καὶ κληθήση̨ οἰκοδόμος φραγμω̃ν καὶ τοὺς τρίβους τοὺς ἀνὰ μέσον παύσεις (Ⅲ) - Et ædificabuntur in te deserta sæculorum,/ fundamenta generationis et generationis suscitabis ;/ et vocaberis ædificator sepium,/ avertens semitas in quietem./ (Ⅳ) - 12 ׃58 ובנו ממך חרבות עולם מוסדי דור ודור תקומם וקרא לך גדר פרץ משבב נתיבות לשבת (Ⅴ)

If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:
- Si tu retiens ton pied pendant le sabbat, Pour ne pas faire ta volonté en mon saint jour, Si tu fais du sabbat tes délices, Pour sanctifier l'Éternel en le glorifiant, Et si tu l'honores en ne suivant point tes voies, En ne te livrant pas à tes penchants et à de vains discours, (Ⅱ) - ἐὰν ἀποστρέψη̨ς τὸν πόδα σου ἀπὸ τω̃ν σαββάτων του̃ μὴ ποιει̃ν τὰ θελήματά σου ἐν τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ τη̨̃ ἁγία̨ καὶ καλέσεις τὰ σάββατα τρυφερά ἅγια τω̨̃ θεω̨̃ σου οὐκ ἀρει̃ς τὸν πόδα σου ἐπ' ἔργω̨ οὐδὲ λαλήσεις λόγον ἐν ὀργη̨̃ ἐκ του̃ στόματός σου (Ⅲ) - Si averteris a sabbato pedem tuum/ facere voluntatem tuam in die sancto meo,/ et vocaveris sabbatum delicatum,/ et sanctum Domini gloriosum,/ et glorificaveris eum dum non facis vias tuas,/ et non invenitur voluntas tua, ut loquaris sermonem :/ (Ⅳ) - 13 ׃58 אם תשיב משבת רגלך עשות חפציך ביום קדשי וקראת לשבת ענג לקדוש יהוה מכבד וכבדתו מעשות דרכיך ממצוא חפצך ודבר דבר (Ⅴ)

Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
- Alors tu mettras ton plaisir en l'Éternel, Et je te ferai monter sur les hauteurs du pays, Je te ferai jouir de l'héritage de Jacob, ton père; Car la bouche de l'Éternel a parlé. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔση̨ πεποιθὼς ἐπὶ κύριον καὶ ἀναβιβάσει σε ἐπὶ τὰ ἀγαθὰ τη̃ς γη̃ς καὶ ψωμιει̃ σε τὴν κληρονομίαν Ιακωβ του̃ πατρός σου τὸ γὰρ στόμα κυρίου ἐλάλησεν ταυ̃τα (Ⅲ) - tunc delectaberis super Domino,/ et sustollam te super altitudines terræ,/ et cibabo te hæreditate Jacob patris tui :/ os enim Domini locutum est.] (Ⅳ) - 14 ׃58 אז תתענג על יהוה והרכבתיך על במותי[n][q] ארץ והאכלתיך נחלת יעקב אביך כי פי יהוה דבר ס (Ⅴ)
