Then all the captains of the forces, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and Jezaniah the son of Hoshaiah, and all the people from the least even unto the greatest, came near,
- Tous les chefs des troupes, Jochanan, fils de Karéach, Jezania, fils d'Hosée, et tout le peuple, depuis le plus petit jusqu'au plus grand, s'avancèrent, (Ⅱ) - Et accesserunt omnes principes bellatorum, et Johanan filius Caree, et Jezonias filius Osaiæ, et reliquum vulgus, a parvo usque ad magnum, (Ⅳ) - 1 ׃42 ויגשו כל שרי החילים ויוחנן בן קרח ויזניה בן הושעיה וכל העם מקטן ועד גדול (Ⅴ)

And said unto Jeremiah the prophet, Let, we beseech thee, our supplication be accepted before thee, and pray for us unto the LORD thy God, even for all this remnant; (for we are left but a few of many, as thine eyes do behold us:)
- et dirent à Jérémie, le prophète: Que nos supplications soient favorablement reçues devant toi! Intercède en notre faveur auprès de l'Éternel, ton Dieu, en faveur de tous ceux qui restent, car nous étions beaucoup, et nous restons en petit nombre, comme tes yeux le voient; (Ⅱ) - dixeruntque ad Jeremiam prophetam : Cadat oratio nostra in conspectu tuo, et ora pro nobis ad Dominum Deum tuum, pro universis reliquiis istis, quia derelicti sumus pauci de pluribus, sicut oculi tui nos intuentur : (Ⅳ) - 2 ׃42 ויאמרו אל ירמיהו הנביא תפל נא תחנתנו לפניך והתפלל בעדנו אל יהוה אלהיך בעד כל השארית הזאת כי נשארנו מעט מהרבה כאשר עיניך ראות אתנו (Ⅴ)

That the LORD thy God may shew us the way wherein we may walk, and the thing that we may do.
- et que l'Éternel, ton Dieu, nous montre le chemin que nous devons suivre, et ce que nous avons à faire! (Ⅱ) - et annuntiet nobis Dominus Deus tuus viam per quam pergamus, et verbum quod faciamus. (Ⅳ) - 3 ׃42 ויגד לנו יהוה אלהיך את הדרך אשר נלך בה ואת הדבר אשר נעשה (Ⅴ)

Then Jeremiah the prophet said unto them, I have heard you; behold, I will pray unto the LORD your God according to your words; and it shall come to pass, that whatsoever thing the LORD shall answer you, I will declare it unto you; I will keep nothing back from you.
- Jérémie, le prophète, leur dit: J'entends; voici je vais prier l'Éternel, votre Dieu, selon votre demande; et je vous ferai connaître, sans rien vous cacher, tout ce que l'Éternel vous répondra. (Ⅱ) - Dixit autem ad eos Jeremias propheta : Audivi. Ecce ego oro ad Dominum Deum vestrum secundum verba vestra : omne verbum quodcumque responderit mihi indicabo vobis, nec celabo vos quidquam. (Ⅳ) - 4 ׃42 ויאמר אליהם ירמיהו הנביא שמעתי הנני מתפלל אל יהוה אלהיכם כדבריכם והיה כל הדבר אשר יענה יהוה אתכם אגיד לכם לא אמנע מכם דבר (Ⅴ)

Then they said to Jeremiah, The LORD be a true and faithful witness between us, if we do not even according to all things for the which the LORD thy God shall send thee to us.
- Et ils dirent à Jérémie: Que l'Éternel soit contre nous un témoin véritable et fidèle, si nous ne faisons pas tout ce que l'Éternel, ton Dieu, te chargera de nous dire! (Ⅱ) - Et illi dixerunt ad Jeremiam : Sit Dominus inter nos testis veritatis et fidei, si non juxta omne verbum in quo miserit te Dominus Deus tuus ad nos, sic faciemus : (Ⅳ) - 5 ׃42 והמה אמרו אל ירמיהו יהי יהוה בנו לעד אמת ונאמן אם לא ככל הדבר אשר ישלחך יהוה אלהיך אלינו כן נעשה (Ⅴ)

Whether it be good, or whether it be evil, we will obey the voice of the LORD our God, to whom we send thee; that it may be well with us, when we obey the voice of the LORD our God.
- Que ce soit du bien ou du mal, nous obéirons à la voix de l'Éternel, notre Dieu, vers qui nous t'envoyons, afin que nous soyons heureux, si nous obéissons à la voix de l'Éternel, notre Dieu. (Ⅱ) - sive bonum est, sive malum, voci Domini Dei nostri, ad quem mittimus te, obediemus, ut bene sit nobis cum audierimus vocem Domini Dei nostri. (Ⅳ) - 6 ׃42 אם טוב ואם רע בקול יהוה אלהינו אשר *אנו **אנחנו שלחים אתך אליו נשמע למען אשר ייטב לנו כי נשמע בקול יהוה אלהינו ס (Ⅴ)

And it came to pass after ten days, that the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah.
- Dix jours après, la parole de l'Éternel fut adressée à Jérémie. (Ⅱ) - Cum autem completi essent decem dies, factum est verbum Domini ad Jeremiam, (Ⅳ) - 7 ׃42 ויהי מקץ עשרת ימים ויהי דבר יהוה אל ירמיהו (Ⅴ)

Then called he Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces which were with him, and all the people from the least even to the greatest,
- Et Jérémie appela Jochanan, fils de Karéach, tous les chefs des troupes qui étaient avec lui, et tout le peuple, depuis le plus petit jusqu'au plus grand. (Ⅱ) - vocavitque Johanan filium Caree, et omnes principes bellatorum qui erant cum eo, et universum populum, a minimo usque ad magnum. (Ⅳ) - 8 ׃42 ויקרא אל יוחנן בן קרח ואל כל שרי החילים אשר אתו ולכל העם למקטן ועד גדול (Ⅴ)

And said unto them, Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, unto whom ye sent me to present your supplication before him;
- Il leur dit: Ainsi parle l'Éternel, le Dieu d'Israël, vers qui vous m'avez envoyé, pour que je lui présente vos supplications: (Ⅱ) - Et dixit ad eos : Hæc dicit Dominus Deus Israël, ad quem misistis me ut prosternerem preces vestras in conspectu ejus : (Ⅳ) - 9 ׃42 ויאמר אליהם כה אמר יהוה אלהי ישראל אשר שלחתם אתי אליו להפיל תחנתכם לפניו (Ⅴ)

If ye will still abide in this land, then will I build you, and not pull you down, and I will plant you, and not pluck you up: for I repent me of the evil that I have done unto you.
- Si vous restez dans ce pays, je vous y établirai et je ne vous détruirai pas, je vous planterai et je ne vous arracherai pas; car je me repens du mal que je vous ai fait. (Ⅱ) - Si quiescentes manseritis in terra hac, ædificabo vos, et non destruam : plantabo, et non evellam : jam enim placatus sum super malo quod feci vobis. (Ⅳ) - 10 ׃42 אם שוב תשבו בארץ הזאת ובניתי אתכם ולא אהרס ונטעתי אתכם ולא אתוש כי נחמתי אל הרעה אשר עשיתי לכם (Ⅴ)

Be not afraid of the king of Babylon, of whom ye are afraid; be not afraid of him, saith the LORD: for I am with you to save you, and to deliver you from his hand.
- Ne craignez pas le roi de Babylone, dont vous avez peur; ne le craignez pas, dit l'Éternel, car je suis avec vous pour vous sauver et vous délivrer de sa main; (Ⅱ) - Nolite timere a facie regis Babylonis, quem vos pavidi formidatis : nolite metuere eum, dicit Dominus, quia vobiscum sum ego ut salvos vos faciam, et eruam de manu ejus : (Ⅳ) - 11 ׃42 אל תיראו מפני מלך בבל אשר אתם יראים מפניו אל תיראו ממנו נאם יהוה כי אתכם אני להושיע אתכם ולהציל אתכם מידו (Ⅴ)

And I will shew mercies unto you, that he may have mercy upon you, and cause you to return to your own land.
- je lui inspirerai de la compassion pour vous, et il aura pitié de vous, et il vous laissera demeurer dans votre pays. (Ⅱ) - et dabo vobis misericordias, et miserebor vestri, et habitare vos faciam in terra vestra. (Ⅳ) - 12 ׃42 ואתן לכם רחמים ורחם אתכם והשיב אתכם אל אדמתכם (Ⅴ)

But if ye say, We will not dwell in this land, neither obey the voice of the LORD your God,
- Mais si vous n'obéissez pas à la voix de l'Éternel, votre Dieu, (Ⅱ) - Si autem dixeritis vos : Non habitabimus in terra ista, nec audiemus vocem Domini Dei nostri, (Ⅳ) - 13 ׃42 ואם אמרים אתם לא נשב בארץ הזאת לבלתי שמע בקול יהוה אלהיכם (Ⅴ)

Saying, No; but we will go into the land of Egypt, where we shall see no war, nor hear the sound of the trumpet, nor have hunger of bread; and there will we dwell:
- et si vous dites: Nous ne resterons pas dans ce pays, non, nous irons au pays d'Égypte, où nous ne verrons point de guerre, où nous n'entendrons pas le son de la trompette, où nous ne manquerons pas de pain, et c'est là que nous habiterons, - (Ⅱ) - dicentes : Nequaquam, sed ad terram Ægypti pergemus, ubi non videbimus bellum, et clangorem tubæ non audiemus, et famem non sustinebimus, et ibi habitabimus : (Ⅳ) - 14 ׃42 לאמר לא כי ארץ מצרים נבוא אשר לא נראה מלחמה וקול שופר לא נשמע וללחם לא נרעב ושם נשב (Ⅴ)

And now therefore hear the word of the LORD, ye remnant of Judah; Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; If ye wholly set your faces to enter into Egypt, and go to sojourn there;
- alors écoutez la parole de l'Éternel, restes de Juda! Ainsi parle l'Éternel des armées, le Dieu d'Israël: Si vous tournez le visage pour aller en Égypte, si vous y allez demeurer, (Ⅱ) - propter hoc nunc audite verbum Domini, reliquiæ Juda : Hæc dicit Dominus exercituum, Deus Israël : Si posueritis faciem vestram ut ingrediamini Ægyptum, et intraveritis ut ibi habitetis, (Ⅳ) - 15 ׃42 ועתה לכן שמעו דבר יהוה שארית יהודה כה אמר יהוה צבאות אלהי ישראל אם אתם שום תשמון פניכם לבא מצרים ובאתם לגור שם (Ⅴ)

Then it shall come to pass, that the sword, which ye feared, shall overtake you there in the land of Egypt, and the famine, whereof ye were afraid, shall follow close after you there in Egypt; and there ye shall die.
- l'épée que vous redoutez vous atteindra là au pays d'Égypte, la famine que vous craignez s'attachera à vous là en Égypte, et vous y mourrez. (Ⅱ) - gladius quem vos formidatis ibi comprehendet vos in terra Ægypti : et fames, pro qua estis solliciti, adhærebit vobis in Ægypto, et ibi moriemini. (Ⅳ) - 16 ׃42 והיתה החרב אשר אתם יראים ממנה שם תשיג אתכם בארץ מצרים והרעב אשר אתם דאגים ממנו שם ידבק אחריכם מצרים ושם תמתו (Ⅴ)

So shall it be with all the men that set their faces to go into Egypt to sojourn there; they shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence: and none of them shall remain or escape from the evil that I will bring upon them.
- Tous ceux qui tourneront le visage pour aller en Égypte, afin d'y demeurer, mourront par l'épée, par la famine ou par la peste, et nul n'échappera, ne fuira, devant les malheurs que je ferai venir sur eux. (Ⅱ) - Omnesque viri qui posuerunt faciem suam ut ingrediantur Ægyptum, ut habitent ibi, morientur gladio, et fame, et peste : nullus de eis remanebit, nec effugiet a facie mali quod ego afferam super eos. (Ⅳ) - 17 ׃42 ויהיו כל האנשים אשר שמו את פניהם לבוא מצרים לגור שם ימותו בחרב ברעב ובדבר ולא יהיה להם שריד ופליט מפני הרעה אשר אני מביא עליהם ס (Ⅴ)

For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; As mine anger and my fury hath been poured forth upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem; so shall my fury be poured forth upon you, when ye shall enter into Egypt: and ye shall be an execration, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach; and ye shall see this place no more.
- Car ainsi parle l'Éternel des armées, le Dieu d'Israël: De même que ma colère et ma fureur se sont répandues sur les habitants de Jérusalem, de même ma fureur se répandra sur vous, si vous allez en Égypte; vous serez un sujet d'exécration, d'épouvante, de malédiction et d'opprobre, et vous ne verrez plus ce lieu. (Ⅱ) - Quia hæc dicit Dominus exercituum, Deus Israël : Sicut conflatus est furor meus et indignatio mea super habitatores Jerusalem, sic conflabitur indignatio mea super vos cum ingressi fueritis Ægyptum : et eritis in jusjurandum, et in stuporem, et in maledictum, et in opprobrium, et nequaquam ultra videbitis locum istum. (Ⅳ) - 18 ׃42 כי כה אמר יהוה צבאות אלהי ישראל כאשר נתך אפי וחמתי על ישבי ירושלם כן תתך חמתי עליכם בבאכם מצרים והייתם לאלה ולשמה ולקללה ולחרפה ולא תראו עוד את המקום הזה (Ⅴ)

The LORD hath said concerning you, O ye remnant of Judah; Go ye not into Egypt: know certainly that I have admonished you this day.
- Restes de Juda, l'Éternel vous dit: N'allez pas en Égypte! sachez que je vous le défends aujourd'hui. (Ⅱ) - Verbum Domini super vos, reliquiæ Juda : Nolite intrare Ægyptum : scientes scietis, quia obtestatus sum vos hodie, (Ⅳ) - 19 ׃42 דבר יהוה עליכם שארית יהודה אל תבאו מצרים ידע תדעו כי העידתי בכם היום (Ⅴ)

For ye dissembled in your hearts, when ye sent me unto the LORD your God, saying, Pray for us unto the LORD our God; and according unto all that the LORD our God shall say, so declare unto us, and we will do it.
- Vous vous trompez vous-mêmes, car vous m'avez envoyé vers l'Éternel, votre Dieu, en disant: Intercède en notre faveur auprès de l'Éternel, notre Dieu, fais-nous connaître tout ce que l'Éternel, notre Dieu, dira, et nous le ferons. (Ⅱ) - quia decepistis animas vestras. Vos enim misistis me ad Dominum Deum nostrum, dicentes : Ora pro nobis ad Dominum Deum nostrum, et juxta omnia quæcumque dixerit tibi Dominus Deus noster, sic annuntia nobis, et faciemus. (Ⅳ) - 20 ׃42 כי *התעתים **התעיתם[k] בנפשותיכם כי אתם שלחתם אתי אל יהוה אלהיכם לאמר התפלל בעדנו אל יהוה אלהינו וככל אשר יאמר יהוה אלהינו כן הגד לנו ועשינו (Ⅴ)

And now I have this day declared it to you; but ye have not obeyed the voice of the LORD your God, nor any thing for the which he hath sent me unto you.
- Je vous l'ai déclaré aujourd'hui; mais vous n'écoutez pas la voix de l'Éternel, votre Dieu, ni tout ce qu'il m'a chargé de vous dire. (Ⅱ) - Et annuntiavi vobis hodie, et non audistis vocem Domini Dei vestri super universis pro quibus misit me ad vos. (Ⅳ) - 21 ׃42 ואגד לכם היום ולא שמעתם בקול יהוה אלהיכם ולכל אשר שלחני אליכם (Ⅴ)

Now therefore know certainly that ye shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, in the place whither ye desire to go and to sojourn.
- Sachez maintenant que vous mourrez par l'épée, par la famine ou par la peste, dans le lieu où vous voulez aller pour y demeurer. (Ⅱ) - Nunc ergo scientes scietis quia gladio, et fame, et peste moriemini in loco ad quem voluistis intrare ut habitaretis ibi. (Ⅳ) - 22 ׃42 ועתה ידע תדעו כי בחרב ברעב ובדבר תמותו במקום אשר חפצתם לבוא לגור שם ס (Ⅴ)
