50. 1  
The word that the LORD spake against Babylon and against the land of the Chaldeans by Jeremiah the prophet.
- La parole que l'Éternel prononça sur Babylone, sur le pays des Chaldéens, par Jérémie, le prophète: (Ⅱ)
- Verbum quod locutus est Dominus de Babylone et de terra Chaldæorum, in manu Jeremiæ prophetæ. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 1  ׃50  הדבר אשר דבר יהוה אל בבל אל ארץ כשדים ביד ירמיהו הנביא ‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 2  
Declare ye among the nations, and publish, and set up a standard; publish, and conceal not: say, Babylon is taken, Bel is confounded, Merodach is broken in pieces; her idols are confounded, her images are broken in pieces.
- Annoncez-le parmi les nations, publiez-le, élevez une bannière! Publiez-le, ne cachez rien! Dites: Babylone est prise! Bel est confondu, Merodac est brisé! Ses idoles sont confondues, ses idoles sont brisées! (Ⅱ)
- Annuntiate in gentibus, et auditum facite :/ levate signum, prædicate, et nolite celare :/ dicite : Capta est Babylon,/ confusus est Bel, victus est Merodach,/ confusa sunt sculptilia ejus,/ superata sunt idola eorum./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 2  ׃50  הגידו בגוים והשמיעו ושאו נס השמיעו אל תכחדו אמרו נלכדה בבל הביש בל חת מרדך הבישו עצביה חתו גלוליה ‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 3  
For out of the north there cometh up a nation against her, which shall make her land desolate, and none shall dwell therein: they shall remove, they shall depart, both man and beast.
- Car une nation monte contre elle du septentrion, Elle réduira son pays en désert, Il n'y aura plus d'habitants; Hommes et bêtes fuient, s'en vont. (Ⅱ)
- Quoniam ascendit contra eam gens ab aquilone,/ quæ ponet terram ejus in solitudinem,/ et non erit qui habitet in ea ab homine usque ad pecus :/ et moti sunt, et abierunt./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 3  ׃50  כי עלה עליה גוי מצפון הוא ישית את ארצה לשמה ולא יהיה יושב בה מאדם ועד בהמה נדו הלכו ‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 4  
In those days, and in that time, saith the LORD, the children of Israel shall come, they and the children of Judah together, going and weeping: they shall go, and seek the LORD their God.
- En ces jours, en ce temps-là, dit l'Éternel, Les enfants d'Israël et les enfants de Juda reviendront ensemble; Ils marcheront en pleurant, Et ils chercheront l'Éternel, leur Dieu. (Ⅱ)
- In diebus illis, et in tempore illo, ait Dominus,/ venient filii Israël ipsi et filii Juda simul :/ ambulantes et flentes properabunt,/ et Dominum Deum suum quærent :/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 4  ׃50  בימים ההמה ובעת ההיא נאם יהוה יבאו בני ישראל המה ובני יהודה יחדו הלוך ובכו ילכו ואת יהוה אלהיהם יבקשו ‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 5  
They shall ask the way to Zion with their faces thitherward, saying, Come, and let us join ourselves to the LORD in a perpetual covenant that shall not be forgotten.
- Ils s'informeront du chemin de Sion, Ils tourneront vers elle leurs regards: Venez, attachez-vous à l'Éternel, Par une alliance éternelle qui ne soit jamais oubliée! (Ⅱ)
- in Sion interrogabunt viam, huc facies eorum :/ venient, et apponentur ad Dominum fœdere sempiterno,/ quod nulla oblivione delebitur./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 5  ׃50  ציון ישאלו דרך הנה פניהם באו ונלוו אל יהוה ברית עולם לא תשכח ס‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 6  
My people hath been lost sheep: their shepherds have caused them to go astray, they have turned them away on the mountains: they have gone from mountain to hill, they have forgotten their restingplace.
- Mon peuple était un troupeau de brebis perdues; Leurs bergers les égaraient, les faisaient errer par les montagnes; Elles allaient des montagnes sur les collines, Oubliant leur bercail. (Ⅱ)
- Grex perditus factus est populus meus :/ pastores eorum seduxerunt eos,/ feceruntque vagari in montibus :/ de monte in collem transierunt ;/ obliti sunt cubilis sui./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 6  ׃50  צאן אבדות *היה **היו עמי רעיהם התעום הרים *שובבים **שובבום מהר אל גבעה הלכו שכחו רבצם ‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 7  
All that found them have devoured them: and their adversaries said, We offend not, because they have sinned against the LORD, the habitation of justice, even the LORD, the hope of their fathers.
- Tous ceux qui les trouvaient les dévoraient, Et leurs ennemis disaient: Nous ne sommes point coupables, Puisqu'ils ont péché contre l'Éternel, la demeure de la justice, Contre l'Éternel, l'espérance de leurs pères. (Ⅱ)
- Omnes qui invenerunt comederunt eos,/ et hostes eorum dixerunt : Non peccavimus :/ pro eo quod peccaverunt Domino decori justitiæ,/ et exspectationi patrum eorum Domino./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 7  ׃50  כל מוצאיהם אכלום וצריהם אמרו לא נאשם תחת אשר חטאו ליהוה נוה צדק ומקוה אבותיהם יהוה ס‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 8  
Remove out of the midst of Babylon, and go forth out of the land of the Chaldeans, and be as the he goats before the flocks.
- Fuyez de Babylone, sortez du pays des Chaldéens, Et soyez comme des boucs à la tête du troupeau! (Ⅱ)
- Recedite de medio Babylonis,/ et de terra Chaldæorum egredimini,/ et estote quasi hædi ante gregem./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 8  ׃50  נדו מתוך בבל ומארץ כשדים *יצאו **צאו והיו כעתודים לפני צאן ‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 9  
For, lo, I will raise and cause to come up against Babylon an assembly of great nations from the north country: and they shall set themselves in array against her; from thence she shall be taken: their arrows shall be as of a mighty expert man; none shall return in vain.
- Car voici, je vais susciter et faire monter contre Babylone Une multitude de grandes nations du pays du septentrion; Elles se rangeront en bataille contre elle, et s'en empareront; Leurs flèches sont comme un habile guerrier, Qui ne revient pas à vide. (Ⅱ)
- Quoniam ecce ego suscito,/ et adducam in Babylonem/ congregationem gentium magnarum de terra aquilonis,/ et præparabuntur adversus eam, et inde capietur :/ sagitta ejus quasi viri fortis interfectoris :/ non revertetur vacua./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 9  ׃50  כי הנה אנכי מעיר ומעלה על בבל קהל גוים גדלים מארץ צפון וערכו לה משם תלכד חציו כגבור משכיל לא ישוב ריקם ‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 10  
And Chaldea shall be a spoil: all that spoil her shall be satisfied, saith the LORD.
- Et la Chaldée sera livrée au pillage; Tous ceux qui la pilleront seront rassasiés, dit l'Éternel. (Ⅱ)
- Et erit Chaldæa in prædam :/ omnes vastantes eam replebuntur, ait Dominus./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 10 ׃50  והיתה כשדים לשלל כל שלליה ישבעו נאם יהוה ‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 11  
Because ye were glad, because ye rejoiced, O ye destroyers of mine heritage, because ye are grown fat as the heifer at grass, and bellow as bulls;
- Oui, soyez dans la joie, dans l'allégresse, Vous qui avez pillé mon héritage! Oui, bondissez comme une génisse dans l'herbe, Hennissez comme des chevaux fougueux! (Ⅱ)
- Quoniam exsultatis, et magna loquimini,/ diripientes hæreditatem meam :/ quoniam effusi estis sicut vituli super herbam,/ et mugistis sicut tauri :/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 11 ׃50  כי *תשמחי **תשמחו כי *תעלזי **תעלזו‪[1]‬ שסי נחלתי כי *תפושי **תפושו כעגלה דשה *ותצהלי **ותצהלו כאברים ‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 12  
Your mother shall be sore confounded; she that bare you shall be ashamed: behold, the hindermost of the nations shall be a wilderness, a dry land, and a desert.
- Votre mère est couverte de confusion, Celle qui vous a enfantés rougit de honte; Voici, elle est la dernière des nations, C'est un désert, une terre sèche et aride. (Ⅱ)
- confusa est mater vestra nimis,/ et adæquata pulveri, quæ genuit vos :/ ecce novissima erit in gentibus,/ deserta, invia, et arens./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 12 ׃50  בושה אמכם מאד חפרה יולדתכם הנה אחרית גוים מדבר ציה וערבה ‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 13  
Because of the wrath of the LORD it shall not be inhabited, but it shall be wholly desolate: every one that goeth by Babylon shall be astonished, and hiss at all her plagues.
- A cause de la colère de l'Éternel, elle ne sera plus habitée, Elle ne sera plus qu'une solitude. Tous ceux qui passeront près de Babylone Seront dans l'étonnement et siffleront sur toutes ses plaies. (Ⅱ)
- Ab ira Domini non habitabitur,/ sed redigetur tota in solitudinem :/ omnis qui transibit per Babylonem stupebit,/ et sibilabit super universis plagis ejus./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 13 ׃50  מקצף יהוה לא תשב והיתה שממה כלה כל עבר על בבל ישם וישרק על כל מכותיה ‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 14  
Put yourselves in array against Babylon round about: all ye that bend the bow, shoot at her, spare no arrows: for she hath sinned against the LORD.
- Rangez-vous en bataille autour de Babylone, vous tous, archers! Tirez contre elle, n'épargnez pas les flèches! Car elle a péché contre l'Éternel. (Ⅱ)
- Præparamini contra Babylonem per circuitum,/ omnes qui tenditis arcum :/ debellate eam, non parcatis jaculis,/ quia Domino peccavit./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 14 ׃50  ערכו על בבל סביב כל דרכי קשת ידו אליה אל תחמלו אל חץ כי ליהוה חטאה ‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 15  
Shout against her round about: she hath given her hand: her foundations are fallen, her walls are thrown down: for it is the vengeance of the LORD: take vengeance upon her; as she hath done, do unto her.
- Poussez de tous côtés contre elle un cri de guerre! Elle tend les mains; Ses fondements s'écroulent; Ses murs sont renversés. Car c'est la vengeance de l'Éternel. Vengez-vous sur elle! Faites-lui comme elle a fait! (Ⅱ)
- Clamate adversus eam,/ ubique dedit manum :/ ceciderunt fundamenta ejus,/ destructi sunt muri ejus,/ quoniam ultio Domini est :/ ultionem accipite de ea :/ sicut fecit, facite ei./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 15 ׃50  הריעו עליה סביב נתנה ידה נפלו *אשויתיה **אשיותיה נהרסו חומותיה כי נקמת יהוה היא הנקמו בה כאשר עשתה עשו לה ‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 16  
Cut off the sower from Babylon, and him that handleth the sickle in the time of harvest: for fear of the oppressing sword they shall turn every one to his people, and they shall flee every one to his own land.
- Exterminez de Babylone celui qui sème, Et celui qui manie la faucille au temps de la moisson! Devant le glaive destructeur, Que chacun se tourne vers son peuple, Que chacun fuie vers son pays. (Ⅱ)
- Disperdite satorem de Babylone,/ et tenentem falcem in tempore messis :/ a facie gladii columbæ/ unusquisque ad populum suum convertetur,/ et singuli ad terram suam fugient./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 16 ׃50  כרתו זורע מבבל ותפש מגל בעת קציר מפני חרב היונה איש אל עמו יפנו ואיש לארצו ינסו ס‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 17  
Israel is a scattered sheep; the lions have driven him away: first the king of Assyria hath devoured him; and last this Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath broken his bones.
- Israël est une brebis égarée, que les lions ont chassée; Le roi d'Assyrie l'a dévorée le premier; Et ce dernier lui a brisé les os, Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babylone. (Ⅱ)
- Grex dispersus Israël :/ leones ejecerunt eum./ Primus comedit eum rex Assur :/ iste novissimus exossavit eum/ Nabuchodonosor rex Babylonis./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 17 ׃50  שה פזורה ישראל אריות הדיחו הראשון אכלו מלך אשור וזה האחרון עצמו נבוכדראצר מלך בבל ס‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 18  
Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will punish the king of Babylon and his land, as I have punished the king of Assyria.
- C'est pourquoi ainsi parle l'Éternel des armées, le Dieu d'Israël: Voici, je châtierai le roi de Babylone et son pays, Comme j'ai châtié le roi d'Assyrie. (Ⅱ)
- Propterea hæc dicit Dominus exercituum, Deus Israël :/ Ecce ego visitabo regem Babylonis et terram ejus,/ sicut visitavi regem Assur :/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 18 ׃50  לכן כה אמר יהוה צבאות אלהי ישראל הנני פקד אל מלך בבל ואל ארצו כאשר פקדתי אל מלך אשור ‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 19  
And I will bring Israel again to his habitation, and he shall feed on Carmel and Bashan, and his soul shall be satisfied upon mount Ephraim and Gilead.
- Je ramènerai Israël dans sa demeure; Il aura ses pâturages du Carmel et du Basan, Et son âme se rassasiera sur la montagne d'Éphraïm et dans Galaad. (Ⅱ)
- et reducam Israël ad habitaculum suum :/ et pascetur Carmelum et Basan,/ et in monte Ephraim et Galaad saturabitur anima ejus./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 19 ׃50  ושבבתי את ישראל אל נוהו ורעה הכרמל והבשן ובהר אפרים והגלעד תשבע נפשו ‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 20  
In those days, and in that time, saith the LORD, the iniquity of Israel shall be sought for, and there shall be none; and the sins of Judah, and they shall not be found: for I will pardon them whom I reserve.
- En ces jours, en ce temps-là, dit l'Éternel, On cherchera l'iniquité d'Israël, et elle n'existera plus, Le péché de Juda, et il ne se trouvera plus; Car je pardonnerai au reste que j'aurai laissé. (Ⅱ)
- In diebus illis, et in tempore illo, ait Dominus,/ quæretur iniquitas Israël, et non erit,/ et peccatum Juda, et non invenietur :/ quoniam propitius ero eis quos reliquero./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 20 ׃50  בימים ההם ובעת ההיא נאם יהוה יבקש את עון ישראל ואיננו ואת חטאת יהודה ולא תמצאינה כי אסלח לאשר אשאיר ‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 21  
Go up against the land of Merathaim, even against it, and against the inhabitants of Pekod: waste and utterly destroy after them, saith the LORD, and do according to all that I have commanded thee.
- Monte contre le pays doublement rebelle, Contre ses habitants, et châtie-les! Poursuis, massacre, extermine-les! dit l'Éternel, Exécute entièrement mes ordres! (Ⅱ)
- Super terram dominantium ascende,/ et super habitatores ejus visita :/ dissipa, et interfice quæ post eos sunt, ait Dominus,/ et fac juxta omnia quæ præcepi tibi./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 21 ׃50  על הארץ מרתים עלה עליה ואל יושבי פקוד חרב והחרם אחריהם נאם יהוה ועשה ככל אשר צויתיך ס‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 22  
A sound of battle is in the land, and of great destruction.
- Des cris de guerre retentissent dans le pays, Et le désastre est grand. (Ⅱ)
- Vox belli in terra, et contritio magna./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 22 ׃50  קול מלחמה בארץ ושבר גדול ‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 23  
How is the hammer of the whole earth cut asunder and broken! how is Babylon become a desolation among the nations!
- Eh quoi! il est rompu, brisé, le marteau de toute la terre! Babylone est détruite au milieu des nations! (Ⅱ)
- Quomodo confractus est et contritus malleus universæ terræ ?/ quomodo versa est in desertum Babylon in gentibus ?/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 23 ׃50  איך נגדע וישבר פטיש כל הארץ איך היתה לשמה בבל בגוים ‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 24  
I have laid a snare for thee, and thou art also taken, O Babylon, and thou wast not aware: thou art found, and also caught, because thou hast striven against the LORD.
- Je t'ai tendu un piège, et tu as été prise, Babylone, A l'improviste; Tu as été atteinte, saisie, Parce que tu as lutté contre l'Éternel. (Ⅱ)
- Illaqueavi te, et capta es, Babylon,/ et nesciebas :/ inventa es et apprehensa,/ quoniam Dominum provocasti./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 24 ׃50  יקשתי לך וגם נלכדת בבל ואת לא ידעת נמצאת וגם נתפשת כי ביהוה התגרית ‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 25  
The LORD hath opened his armoury, and hath brought forth the weapons of his indignation: for this is the work of the Lord GOD of hosts in the land of the Chaldeans.
- L'Éternel a ouvert son arsenal, Et il en a tiré les armes de sa colère; Car c'est là une oeuvre du Seigneur, de l'Éternel des armées, Dans le pays des Chaldéens. (Ⅱ)
- Aperuit Dominus thesaurum suum,/ et protulit vasa iræ suæ,/ quoniam opus est Domino Deo exercituum,/ in terra Chaldæorum./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 25 ׃50  פתח יהוה את אוצרו ויוצא את כלי זעמו כי מלאכה היא לאדני יהוה צבאות בארץ כשדים ‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 26  
Come against her from the utmost border, open her storehouses: cast her up as heaps, and destroy her utterly: let nothing of her be left.
- Pénétrez de toutes parts dans Babylone, ouvrez ses greniers, Faites-y des monceaux comme des tas de gerbes, Et détruisez-la! Qu'il ne reste plus rien d'elle! (Ⅱ)
- Venite ad eam ab extremis finibus ;/ aperite ut exeant qui conculcent eam :/ tollite de via lapides, et redigite in acervos :/ et interficite eam, nec sit quidquam reliquum./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 26 ׃50  באו לה מקץ פתחו מאבסיה סלוה כמו ערמים והחרימוה אל תהי לה שארית ‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 27  
Slay all her bullocks; let them go down to the slaughter: woe unto them! for their day is come, the time of their visitation.
- Tuez tous ses taureaux, qu'on les égorge! Malheur à eux! car leur jour est arrivé, Le temps de leur châtiment. (Ⅱ)
- Dissipate universos fortes ejus :/ descendant in occisionem :/ væ eis, quia venit dies eorum,/ tempus visitationis eorum !/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 27 ׃50  חרבו כל פריה ירדו לטבח הוי עליהם כי בא יומם עת פקדתם ס‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 28  
The voice of them that flee and escape out of the land of Babylon, to declare in Zion the vengeance of the LORD our God, the vengeance of his temple.
- Écoutez les cris des fuyards, de ceux qui se sauvent du pays de Babylone Pour annoncer dans Sion la vengeance de l'Éternel, notre Dieu, La vengeance de son temple! (Ⅱ)
- Vox fugientium,/ et eorum qui evaserunt de terra Babylonis,/ ut annuntient in Sion ultionem Domini Dei nostri,/ ultionem templi ejus./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 28 ׃50  קול נסים ופלטים מארץ בבל להגיד בציון את נקמת יהוה אלהינו נקמת היכלו ‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 29  
Call together the archers against Babylon: all ye that bend the bow, camp against it round about; let none thereof escape: recompense her according to her work; according to all that she hath done, do unto her: for she hath been proud against the LORD, against the Holy One of Israel.
- Appelez contre Babylone les archers, vous tous qui maniez l'arc! Campez autour d'elle, que personne n'échappe, Rendez-lui selon ses oeuvres, Faites-lui entièrement comme elle a fait! Car elle s'est élevée avec fierté contre l'Éternel, Contre le Saint d'Israël. (Ⅱ)
- Annuntiate in Babylonem plurimis,/ omnibus qui tendunt arcum :/ consistite adversus eam per gyrum,/ et nullus evadat :/ reddite ei secundum opus suum :/ juxta omnia quæ fecit, facite illi,/ quia contra Dominum erecta est,/ adversum Sanctum Israël./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 29 ׃50  השמיעו אל בבל רבים כל דרכי קשת חנו עליה סביב אל יהי **לה‪[a]‬ פלטה שלמו לה כפעלה ככל אשר עשתה עשו לה כי אל יהוה זדה אל קדוש ישראל ‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 30  
Therefore shall her young men fall in the streets, and all her men of war shall be cut off in that day, saith the LORD.
- C'est pourquoi ses jeunes gens tomberont dans les rues, Et tous ses hommes de guerre périront en ce jour, Dit l'Éternel. (Ⅱ)
- Idcirco cadent juvenes ejus in plateis ejus,/ et omnes viri bellatores ejus conticescent in die illa,/ ait Dominus./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 30 ׃50  לכן יפלו בחוריה ברחבתיה וכל אנשי מלחמתה ידמו ביום ההוא נאם יהוה ס‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 31  
Behold, I am against thee, O thou most proud, saith the Lord GOD of hosts: for thy day is come, the time that I will visit thee.
- Voici, j'en veux à toi, orgueilleuse! Dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel des armées; Car ton jour est arrivé, Le temps de ton châtiment. (Ⅱ)
- Ecce ego ad te, superbe !/ dicit Dominus Deus exercituum :/ quia venit dies tuus,/ tempus visitationis tuæ./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 31 ׃50  הנני אליך זדון נאם אדני יהוה צבאות כי בא יומך עת פקדתיך ‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 32  
And the most proud shall stumble and fall, and none shall raise him up: and I will kindle a fire in his cities, and it shall devour all round about him.
- L'orgueilleuse chancellera et tombera, Et personne ne la relèvera; Je mettrai le feu à ses villes, Et il en dévorera tous les alentours. (Ⅱ)
- Et cadet superbus, et corruet,/ et non erit qui suscitet eum :/ et succendam ignem in urbibus ejus,/ et devorabit omnia in circuitu ejus./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 32 ׃50  וכשל זדון ונפל ואין לו מקים והצתי אש בעריו ואכלה כל סביבתיו ס‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 33  
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The children of Israel and the children of Judah were oppressed together: and all that took them captives held them fast; they refused to let them go.
- Ainsi parle l'Éternel des armées: Les enfants d'Israël et les enfants de Juda sont ensemble opprimés; Tous ceux qui les ont emmenés captifs les retiennent, Et refusent de les relâcher. (Ⅱ)
- Hæc dicit Dominus exercituum :/ Calumniam sustinent filii Israël,/ et filii Juda simul :/ omnes qui ceperunt eos, tenent :/ nolunt dimittere eos./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 33 ׃50  כה אמר יהוה צבאות עשוקים בני ישראל ובני יהודה יחדו וכל שביהם החזיקו בם מאנו שלחם ‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 34  
Their Redeemer is strong; the LORD of hosts is his name: he shall throughly plead their cause, that he may give rest to the land, and disquiet the inhabitants of Babylon.

- ‫ 34 ׃50  גאלם חזק יהוה צבאות שמו ריב יריב את ריבם למען הרגיע את הארץ והרגיז לישבי בבל ‬ (Ⅴ)

A sword is upon the Chaldeans, saith the LORD, and upon the inhabitants of Babylon, and upon her princes, and upon her wise men.
- L'épée contre les Chaldéens! dit l'Éternel, Contre les habitants de Babylone, ses chefs et ses sages! (Ⅱ)
- Gladius ad Chaldæos, ait Dominus,/ et ad habitatores Babylonis,/ et ad principes, et ad sapientes ejus./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 35 ׃50  חרב על כשדים נאם יהוה ואל ישבי בבל ואל שריה ואל חכמיה ‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 36  
A sword is upon the liars; and they shall dote: a sword is upon her mighty men; and they shall be dismayed.
- L'épée contre les prophètes de mensonge! qu'ils soient comme des insensés! L'épée contre ses vaillants hommes! qu'ils soient consternés! (Ⅱ)
- Gladius ad divinos ejus, qui stulti erunt :/ gladius ad fortes illius, qui timebunt./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 36 ׃50  חרב אל הבדים ונאלו חרב אל גבוריה וחתו ‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 37  
A sword is upon their horses, and upon their chariots, and upon all the mingled people that are in the midst of her; and they shall become as women: a sword is upon her treasures; and they shall be robbed.
- L'épée contre ses chevaux et ses chars! Contre les gens de toute espèce qui sont au milieu d'elle! Qu'ils deviennent semblables à des femmes! L'épée contre ses trésors! qu'ils soient pillés! (Ⅱ)
- Gladius ad equos ejus, et ad currus ejus,/ et ad omne vulgus quod est in medio ejus :/ et erunt quasi mulieres :/ gladius ad thesauros ejus, qui diripientur./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 37 ׃50  חרב אל סוסיו ואל רכבו ואל כל הערב אשר בתוכה והיו לנשים חרב אל אוצרתיה ובזזו ‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 38  
A drought is upon her waters; and they shall be dried up: for it is the land of graven images, and they are mad upon their idols.
- La sécheresse contre ses eaux! qu'elles tarissent! Car c'est un pays d'idoles; Ils sont fous de leurs idoles. (Ⅱ)
- Siccitas super aquas ejus erit, et arescent,/ quia terra sculptilium est, et in portentis gloriantur./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 38 ׃50  חרב אל מימיה ויבשו כי ארץ פסלים היא ובאימים יתהללו ‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 39  
Therefore the wild beasts of the desert with the wild beasts of the islands shall dwell there, and the owls shall dwell therein: and it shall be no more inhabited for ever; neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation.
- C'est pourquoi les animaux du désert s'y établiront avec les chacals, Et les autruches y feront leur demeure; Elle ne sera plus jamais habitée, Elle ne sera plus jamais peuplée. (Ⅱ)
- Propterea habitabunt dracones cum faunis ficariis,/ et habitabunt in ea struthiones :/ et non inhabitabitur ultra usque in sempiternum,/ nec exstruetur usque ad generationem et generationem./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 39 ׃50  לכן ישבו ציים את איים וישבו בה בנות יענה ולא תשב עוד לנצח ולא תשכון עד דור ודור ‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 40  
As God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof, saith the LORD; so shall no man abide there, neither shall any son of man dwell therein.
- Comme Sodome et Gomorrhe, et les villes voisines, que Dieu détruisit, Dit l'Éternel, Elle ne sera plus habitée, Elle ne sera le séjour d'aucun homme. (Ⅱ)
- Sicut subvertit Dominus Sodomam et Gomorrham,/ et vicinas ejus, ait Dominus,/ non habitabit ibi vir,/ et non incolet eam filius hominis./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 40 ׃50  כמהפכת אלהים את סדם ואת עמרה ואת שכניה נאם יהוה לא ישב שם איש ולא יגור בה בן אדם ‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 41  
Behold, a people shall come from the north, and a great nation, and many kings shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth.
- Voici, un peuple vient du septentrion, Une grande nation et des rois puissants Se lèvent des extrémités de la terre. (Ⅱ)
- Ecce populus venit ab aquilone,/ et gens magna, et reges multi/ consurgent a finibus terræ./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 41 ׃50  הנה עם בא מצפון וגוי גדול ומלכים רבים יערו מירכתי ארץ ‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 42  
They shall hold the bow and the lance: they are cruel, and will not shew mercy: their voice shall roar like the sea, and they shall ride upon horses, every one put in array, like a man to the battle, against thee, O daughter of Babylon.
- Ils portent l'arc et le javelot; Ils sont cruels, sans miséricorde; Leur voix mugit comme la mer; Ils sont montés sur des chevaux, Prêts à combattre comme un seul homme, Contre toi, fille de Babylone! (Ⅱ)
- Arcum et scutum apprehendent :/ crudeles sunt, et immisericordes :/ vox eorum quasi mare sonabit,/ et super equos ascendent,/ sicut vir paratus ad prælium contra te, filia Babylon./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 42 ׃50  קשת וכידן יחזיקו אכזרי המה ולא ירחמו קולם כים יהמה ועל סוסים ירכבו ערוך כאיש למלחמה עליך בת בבל ‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 43  
The king of Babylon hath heard the report of them, and his hands waxed feeble: anguish took hold of him, and pangs as of a woman in travail.
- Le roi de Babylone apprend la nouvelle, Et ses mains s'affaiblissent, L'angoisse le saisit, Comme la douleur d'une femme qui accouche... (Ⅱ)
- Audivit rex Babylonis famam eorum,/ et dissolutæ sunt manus ejus :/ angustia apprehendit eum,/ dolor quasi parturientem./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 43 ׃50  שמע מלך בבל את שמעם ורפו ידיו צרה החזיקתהו חיל כיולדה ‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 44  
Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of Jordan unto the habitation of the strong: but I will make them suddenly run away from her: and who is a chosen man, that I may appoint over her? for who is like me? and who will appoint me the time? and who is that shepherd that will stand before me?
- Voici, tel qu'un lion, il monte des rives orgueilleuses du Jourdain Contre la demeure forte; Soudain je les en chasserai, Et j'établirai sur elle celui que j'ai choisi. Car qui est semblable à moi? qui me donnera des ordres? Et quel est le chef qui me résistera? (Ⅱ)
- Ecce quasi leo ascendet,/ de superbia Jordanis ad pulchritudinem robustam,/ quia subito currere faciam eum ad illam./ Et quis erit electus, quem præponam ei ?/ quis est enim similis mei ?/ et quis sustinebit me ?/ et quis est iste pastor, qui resistat vultui meo ?/ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 44 ׃50  הנה כאריה יעלה מגאון הירדן אל נוה איתן כי ארגעה *ארוצם **אריצם מעליה ומי בחור אליה אפקד כי מי כמוני ומי יועדני ומי זה רעה אשר יעמד לפני ‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 45  
Therefore hear ye the counsel of the LORD, that he hath taken against Babylon; and his purposes, that he hath purposed against the land of the Chaldeans: Surely the least of the flock shall draw them out: surely he shall make their habitation desolate with them.
- C'est pourquoi écoutez la résolution que l'Éternel a prise contre Babylone, Et les desseins qu'il a conçus contre le pays des Chaldéens! Certainement on les traînera comme de faibles brebis, Certainement on ravagera leur demeure. (Ⅱ)
- Propterea audite consilium Domini/ quod mente concepit adversum Babylonem,/ et cogitationes ejus/ quas cogitavit super terram Chaldæorum :/ nisi detraxerint eos parvuli gregum,/ nisi dissipatum fuerit cum ipsis habitaculum eorum./ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 45 ׃50  לכן שמעו עצת יהוה אשר יעץ אל בבל ומחשבותיו אשר חשב אל ארץ כשדים אם לא יסחבום צעירי הצאן אם לא ישים עליהם נוה ‬ (Ⅴ)
50. 46  
At the noise of the taking of Babylon the earth is moved, and the cry is heard among the nations.
- Au bruit de la prise de Babylone la terre tremble, Et un cri se fait entendre parmi les nations. (Ⅱ)
- A voce captivitatis Babylonis commota est terra,/ et clamor inter gentes auditus est.] (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 46 ׃50  מקול נתפשה בבל נרעשה הארץ וזעקה בגוים נשמע ס‬ (Ⅴ)
