18. 1

The word of the LORD came unto me again, saying,

- La parole de l'Éternel me fut adressée, en ces mots: (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐγένετο λόγος κυρίου πρός με λέγων (Ⅲ)

- Et factus est sermo Domini ad me, dicens : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 1 ׃18 ויהי דבר יהוה אלי לאמר ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 2

What mean ye, that ye use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge?

- Pourquoi dites-vous ce proverbe dans le pays d'Israël: Les pères ont mangé des raisins verts, et les dents des enfants en ont été agacées? (Ⅱ)

- υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου τί ὑμι̃ν ἡ παραβολὴ αὕτη ἐν τοι̃ς υἱοι̃ς Ισραηλ λέγοντες οἱ πατέρες ἔφαγον ὄμφακα καὶ οἱ ὀδόντες τω̃ν τέκνων ἐγομφίασαν (Ⅲ)

- Quid est quod inter vos parabolam vertitis in proverbium istud in terra Israël, dicentes : Patres comederunt uvam acerbam, et dentes filiorum obstupescunt ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 2 ׃18 מה לכם אתם משלים את המשל הזה על אדמת ישראל לאמר אבות יאכלו בסר ושני הבנים תקהינה ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 3

As I live, saith the Lord GOD, ye shall not have occasion any more to use this proverb in Israel.

- Je suis vivant! dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel, vous n'aurez plus lieu de dire ce proverbe en Israël. (Ⅱ)

- ζω̃ ἐγώ λέγει κύριος ἐὰν γένηται ἔτι λεγομένη ἡ παραβολὴ αὕτη ἐν τω̨̃ Ισραηλ (Ⅲ)

- Vivo ego, dicit Dominus Deus, si erit ultra vobis parabola hæc in proverbium in Israël. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 3 ׃18 חי אני נאם אדני יהוה אם יהיה לכם עוד משל המשל הזה בישראל ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 4

Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.

- Voici, toutes les âmes sont à moi; l'âme du fils comme l'âme du père, l'une et l'autre sont à moi; l'âme qui pèche, c'est celle qui mourra. (Ⅱ)

- ὅτι πα̃σαι αἱ ψυχαὶ ἐμαί εἰσιν ὃν τρόπον ἡ ψυχὴ του̃ πατρός οὕτως καὶ ἡ ψυχὴ του̃ υἱου̃ ἐμαί εἰσιν ἡ ψυχὴ ἡ ἁμαρτάνουσα αὕτη ἀποθανει̃ται (Ⅲ)

- Ecce omnes animæ meæ sunt : ut anima patris, ita et anima filii mea est : anima quæ peccaverit, ipsa morietur. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 4 ׃18 הן כל הנפשות לי הנה כנפש האב וכנפש הבן לי הנה הנפש החטאת היא תמות ס‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 5

But if a man be just, and do that which is lawful and right,

- L'homme qui est juste, qui pratique la droiture et la justice, (Ⅱ)

- ὁ δὲ ἄνθρωπος ὃς ἔσται δίκαιος ὁ ποιω̃ν κρίμα καὶ δικαιοσύνην (Ⅲ)

- Et vir si fuerit justus, et fecerit judicium et justitiam, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 5 ׃18 ואיש כי יהיה צדיק ועשה משפט וצדקה ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 6

And hath not eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, neither hath defiled his neighbour's wife, neither hath come near to a menstruous woman,

- qui ne mange pas sur les montagnes et ne lève pas les yeux vers les idoles de la maison d'Israël, qui ne déshonore pas la femme de son prochain et ne s'approche pas d'une femme pendant son impureté, (Ⅱ)

- ἐπὶ τω̃ν ὀρέων οὐ φάγεται καὶ τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτου̃ οὐ μὴ ἐπάρη̨ πρὸς τὰ ἐνθυμήματα οἴκου Ισραηλ καὶ τὴν γυναι̃κα του̃ πλησίον αὐτου̃ οὐ μὴ μιάνη̨ καὶ πρὸς γυναι̃κα ἐν ἀφέδρω̨ οὐ̃σαν οὐ προσεγγιει̃ (Ⅲ)

- in montibus non comederit, et oculos suos non levaverit ad idola domus Israël : et uxorem proximi sui non violaverit, et ad mulierem menstruatam non accesserit : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 6 ׃18 אל ההרים לא אכל ועיניו לא נשא אל גלולי בית ישראל ואת אשת רעהו לא טמא ואל אשה נדה לא יקרב ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 7

And hath not oppressed any, but hath restored to the debtor his pledge, hath spoiled none by violence, hath given his bread to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment;

- qui n'opprime personne, qui rend au débiteur son gage, qui ne commet point de rapines, qui donne son pain à celui qui a faim et couvre d'un vêtement celui qui est nu, (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἄνθρωπον οὐ μὴ καταδυναστεύση̨ ἐνεχυρασμὸν ὀφείλοντος ἀποδώσει καὶ ἅρπαγμα οὐχ ἁρπα̃ται τὸν ἄρτον αὐτου̃ τω̨̃ πεινω̃ντι δώσει καὶ γυμνὸν περιβαλει̃ (Ⅲ)

- et hominem non contristaverit, pignus debitori reddiderit, per vim nihil rapuerit : panem suum esurienti dederit, et nudum operuerit vestimento : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 7 ׃18 ואיש לא יונה חבלתו חוב ישיב גזלה לא יגזל לחמו לרעב יתן ועירם יכסה בגד ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 8

He that hath not given forth upon usury, neither hath taken any increase, that hath withdrawn his hand from iniquity, hath executed true judgment between man and man,

- qui ne prête pas à intérêt et ne tire point d'usure, qui détourne sa main de l'iniquité et juge selon la vérité entre un homme et un autre, (Ⅱ)

- καὶ τὸ ἀργύριον αὐτου̃ ἐπὶ τόκω̨ οὐ δώσει καὶ πλεονασμὸν οὐ λήμψεται καὶ ἐξ ἀδικίας ἀποστρέψει τὴν χει̃ρα αὐτου̃ κρίμα δίκαιον ποιήσει ἀνὰ μέσον ἀνδρὸς καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον του̃ πλησίον αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- ad usuram non commodaverit, et amplius non acceperit : ab iniquitate averterit manum suam, et judicium verum fecerit inter virum et virum : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 8 ׃18 בנשך לא יתן ותרבית לא יקח מעול ישיב ידו משפט אמת יעשה בין איש לאיש ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 9

Hath walked in my statutes, and hath kept my judgments, to deal truly; he is just, he shall surely live, saith the Lord GOD.

- qui suit mes lois et observe mes ordonnances en agissant avec fidélité, celui-là est juste, il vivra, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ τοι̃ς προστάγμασίν μου πεπόρευται καὶ τὰ δικαιώματά μου πεφύλακται του̃ ποιη̃σαι αὐτά δίκαιος οὑ̃τός ἐστιν ζωη̨̃ ζήσεται λέγει κύριος (Ⅲ)

- in præceptis meis ambulaverit, et judicia mea custodierit, ut faciat veritatem : hic justus est ; vita vivet, ait Dominus Deus. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 9 ׃18 בחקותי יהלך ומשפטי שמר לעשות אמת צדיק הוא חיה יחיה נאם אדני יהוה ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 10

If he beget a son that is a robber, a shedder of blood, and that doeth the like to any one of these things,

- S'il a un fils qui soit violent, qui répande le sang, ou qui commette quelque chose de semblable; (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐὰν γεννήση̨ υἱὸν λοιμὸν ἐκχέοντα αἱ̃μα καὶ ποιου̃ντα ἁμαρτήματα (Ⅲ)

- Quod si genuerit filium latronem, effundentem sanguinem, et fecerit unum de istis : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 10 ׃18 והוליד בן פריץ שפך דם ועשה אח מאחד מאלה ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 11

And that doeth not any of those duties, but even hath eaten upon the mountains, and defiled his neighbour's wife,

- si ce fils n'imite en rien la conduite de son père, s'il mange sur les montagnes, s'il déshonore la femme de son prochain, (Ⅱ)

- ἐν τη̨̃ ὁδω̨̃ του̃ πατρὸς αὐτου̃ του̃ δικαίου οὐκ ἐπορεύθη ἀλλὰ καὶ ἐπὶ τω̃ν ὀρέων ἔφαγεν καὶ τὴν γυναι̃κα του̃ πλησίον αὐτου̃ ἐμίανεν (Ⅲ)

- et hæc quidem omnia non facientem, sed in montibus comedentem, et uxorem proximi sui polluentem : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 11 ׃18 והוא את כל אלה לא עשה כי גם אל ההרים אכל ואת אשת רעהו טמא ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 12

Hath oppressed the poor and needy, hath spoiled by violence, hath not restored the pledge, and hath lifted up his eyes to the idols, hath committed abomination,

- s'il opprime le malheureux et l'indigent, s'il commet des rapines, s'il ne rend pas le gage, s'il lève les yeux vers les idoles et fait des abominations, (Ⅱ)

- καὶ πτωχὸν καὶ πένητα κατεδυνάστευσεν καὶ ἅρπαγμα ἥρπασεν καὶ ἐνεχυρασμὸν οὐκ ἀπέδωκεν καὶ εἰς τὰ εἴδωλα ἔθετο τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτου̃ ἀνομίαν πεποίηκεν (Ⅲ)

- egenum et pauperem contristantem, rapientem rapinas, pignus non reddentem, et ad idola levantem oculos suos, abominationem facientem : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 12 ׃18 עני ואביון הונה גזלות גזל חבל לא ישיב ואל הגלולים נשא עיניו תועבה עשה ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 13

Hath given forth upon usury, and hath taken increase: shall he then live? he shall not live: he hath done all these abominations; he shall surely die; his blood shall be upon him.

- S'il prête à intérêt et tire une usure, ce fils-là vivrait! Il ne vivra pas; il a commis toutes ces abominations; qu'il meure! que son sang retombe sur lui! (Ⅱ)

- μετὰ τόκου ἔδωκε καὶ πλεονασμὸν ἔλαβεν οὑ̃τος ζωη̨̃ οὐ ζήσεται πάσας τὰς ἀνομίας ταύτας ἐποίησεν θανάτω̨ θανατωθήσεται τὸ αἱ̃μα αὐτου̃ ἐπ' αὐτὸν ἔσται (Ⅲ)

- ad usuram dantem, et amplius accipientem : numquid vivet ? Non vivet : cum universa hæc detestanda fecerit, morte morietur ; sanguis ejus in ipso erit. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 13 ׃18 בנשך נתן ותרבית לקח וחי לא יחיה את כל התועבות האלה עשה מות יומת דמיו בו יהיה ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 14

Now, lo, if he beget a son, that seeth all his father's sins which he hath done, and considereth, and doeth not such like,

- Mais si un homme a un fils qui voie tous les péchés que commet son père, qui les voie et n'agisse pas de la même manière; (Ⅱ)

- ἐὰν δὲ γεννήση̨ υἱόν καὶ ἴδη̨ πάσας τὰς ἁμαρτίας του̃ πατρὸς αὐτου̃ ἃς ἐποίησεν καὶ φοβηθη̨̃ καὶ μὴ ποιήση̨ κατὰ ταύτας (Ⅲ)

- Quod si genuerit filium, qui videns omnia peccata patris sui quæ fecit, timuerit, et non fecerit simile eis : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 14 ׃18 והנה הוליד בן וירא את כל חטאת אביו אשר עשה ויראה ולא יעשה כהן ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 15

That hath not eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, hath not defiled his neighbour's wife,

- si ce fils ne mange pas sur les montagnes et ne lève pas les yeux vers les idoles de la maison d'Israël, s'il ne déshonore pas la femme de son prochain, (Ⅱ)

- ἐπὶ τω̃ν ὀρέων οὐ βέβρωκεν καὶ τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτου̃ οὐκ ἔθετο εἰς τὰ ἐνθυμήματα οἴκου Ισραηλ καὶ τὴν γυναι̃κα του̃ πλησίον αὐτου̃ οὐκ ἐμίανεν (Ⅲ)

- super montes non comederit, et oculos suos non levaverit ad idola domus Israël, et uxorem proximi sui non violaverit : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 15 ׃18 על ההרים לא אכל ועיניו לא נשא אל גלולי בית ישראל את אשת רעהו לא טמא ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 16

Neither hath oppressed any, hath not withholden the pledge, neither hath spoiled by violence, but hath given his bread to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment,

- et virum non contristaverit, pignus non retinuerit, et rapinam non rapuerit : panem suum esurienti dederit, et nudum operuerit vestimento : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 16 ׃18 ואיש לא הונה חבל לא חבל וגזלה לא גזל לחמו לרעב נתן וערום כסה בגד ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 17

That hath taken off his hand from the poor, that hath not received usury nor increase, hath executed my judgments, hath walked in my statutes; he shall not die for the iniquity of his father, he shall surely live.

- s'il détourne sa main de l'iniquité, s'il n'exige ni intérêt ni usure, s'il observe mes ordonnances et suit mes lois, celui-là ne mourra pas pour l'iniquité de son père; il vivra. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀπ' ἀδικίας ἀπέστρεψε τὴν χει̃ρα αὐτου̃ τόκον οὐδὲ πλεονασμὸν οὐκ ἔλαβεν δικαιοσύνην ἐποίησεν καὶ ἐν τοι̃ς προστάγμασίν μου ἐπορεύθη οὐ τελευτήσει ἐν ἀδικίαις πατρὸς αὐτου̃ ζωη̨̃ ζήσεται (Ⅲ)

- a pauperis injuria averterit manum suam, usuram et superabundantiam non acceperit, judicia mea fecerit, in præceptis meis ambulaverit : hic non morietur in iniquitate patris sui, sed vita vivet. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 17 ׃18 מעני השיב ידו נשך ותרבית לא לקח משפטי עשה בחקותי הלך הוא לא ימות בעון אביו חיה יחיה ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 18

As for his father, because he cruelly oppressed, spoiled his brother by violence, and did that which is not good among his people, lo, even he shall die in his iniquity.

- C'est son père, qui a été un oppresseur, qui a commis des rapines envers les autres, qui a fait au milieu de son peuple ce qui n'est pas bien, c'est lui qui mourra pour son iniquité. (Ⅱ)

- ὁ δὲ πατὴρ αὐτου̃ ἐὰν θλίψει θλίψη̨ καὶ ἁρπάση̨ ἅρπαγμα ἐναντία ἐποίησεν ἐν μέσω̨ του̃ λαου̃ μου καὶ ἀποθανει̃ται ἐν τη̨̃ ἀδικία̨ αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Pater ejus, quia calumniatus est, et vim fecit fratri, et malum operatus est in medio populi sui, ecce mortuus est in iniquitate sua. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 18 ׃18 אביו כי עשק עשק גזל גזל אח ואשר לא טוב עשה בתוך עמיו והנה מת בעונו ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 19

Yet say ye, Why? doth not the son bear the iniquity of the father? When the son hath done that which is lawful and right, and hath kept all my statutes, and hath done them, he shall surely live.

- Vous dites: Pourquoi le fils ne porte-t-il pas l'iniquité de son père? C'est que le fils a agi selon la droiture et la justice, c'est qu'il a observé et mis en pratique toutes mes lois; il vivra. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐρει̃τε τί ὅτι οὐκ ἔλαβεν τὴν ἀδικίαν ὁ υἱὸς του̃ πατρὸς αὐτου̃ ὅτι ὁ υἱὸς δικαιοσύνην καὶ ἔλεος ἐποίησεν πάντα τὰ νόμιμά μου συνετήρησεν καὶ ἐποίησεν αὐτά ζωη̨̃ ζήσεται (Ⅲ)

- Et dicitis : Quare non portavit filius iniquitatem patris ? Videlicet quia filius judicium et justitiam operatus est, omnia præcepta mea custodivit, et fecit illa, vivet vita. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 19 ׃18 ואמרתם מדע לא נשא הבן בעון האב והבן משפט וצדקה עשה את כל חקותי שמר ויעשה אתם חיה יחיה ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 20

The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.

- L'âme qui pèche, c'est celle qui mourra. Le fils ne portera pas l'iniquité de son père, et le père ne portera pas l'iniquité de son fils. La justice du juste sera sur lui, et la méchanceté du méchant sera sur lui. (Ⅱ)

- ἡ δὲ ψυχὴ ἡ ἁμαρτάνουσα ἀποθανει̃ται ὁ δὲ υἱὸς οὐ λήμψεται τὴν ἀδικίαν του̃ πατρὸς αὐτου̃ οὐδὲ ὁ πατὴρ λήμψεται τὴν ἀδικίαν του̃ υἱου̃ αὐτου̃ δικαιοσύνη δικαίου ἐπ' αὐτὸν ἔσται καὶ ἀνομία ἀνόμου ἐπ' αὐτὸν ἔσται (Ⅲ)

- Anima quæ peccaverit, ipsa morietur : filius non portabit iniquitatem patris, et pater non portabit iniquitatem filii : justitia justi super eum erit, et impietas impii erit super eum.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 20 ׃18 הנפש החטאת היא תמות בן לא ישא בעון האב ואב לא ישא בעון הבן צדקת הצדיק עליו תהיה ורשעת *רשע **הרשע עליו תהיה ס‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 21

But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.

- Si le méchant revient de tous les péchés qu'il a commis, s'il observe toutes mes lois et pratique la droiture et la justice, il vivra, il ne mourra pas. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ὁ ἄνομος ἐὰν ἀποστρέψη̨ ἐκ πασω̃ν τω̃ν ἀνομιω̃ν αὐτου̃ ὡ̃ν ἐποίησεν καὶ φυλάξηται πάσας τὰς ἐντολάς μου καὶ ποιήση̨ δικαιοσύνην καὶ ἔλεος ζωη̨̃ ζήσεται οὐ μὴ ἀποθάνη̨ (Ⅲ)

- Si autem impius egerit pœnitentiam ab omnibus peccatis suis quæ operatus est, et custodierit omnia præcepta mea, et fecerit judicium et justitiam, vita vivet, et non morietur. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 21 ׃18 והרשע כי ישוב מכל *חטאתו **חטאתיו אשר עשה ושמר את כל חקותי ועשה משפט וצדקה חיה יחיה לא ימות ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 22

All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live.

- Toutes les transgressions qu'il a commises seront oubliées; il vivra, à cause de la justice qu'il a pratiquée. (Ⅱ)

- πάντα τὰ παραπτώματα αὐτου̃ ὅσα ἐποίησεν οὐ μνησθήσεται ἐν τη̨̃ δικαιοσύνη̨ αὐτου̃ ἡ̨̃ ἐποίησεν ζήσεται (Ⅲ)

- Omnium iniquitatum ejus quas operatus est, non recordabor : in justitia sua quam operatus est, vivet. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 22 ׃18 כל פשעיו אשר עשה לא יזכרו לו בצדקתו אשר עשה יחיה ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 23

Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?

- Ce que je désire, est-ce que le méchant meure? dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel. N'est-ce pas qu'il change de conduite et qu'il vive? (Ⅱ)

- μὴ θελήσει θελήσω τὸν θάνατον του̃ ἀνόμου λέγει κύριος ὡς τὸ ἀποστρέψαι αὐτὸν ἐκ τη̃ς ὁδου̃ τη̃ς πονηρα̃ς καὶ ζη̃ν αὐτόν (Ⅲ)

- Numquid voluntatis meæ est mors impii, dicit Dominus Deus, et non ut convertatur a viis suis, et vivat ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 23 ׃18 החפץ אחפץ מות רשע נאם אדני יהוה הלוא בשובו מדרכיו וחיה ס‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 24

But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.

- Si le juste se détourne de sa justice et commet l'iniquité, s'il imite toutes les abominations du méchant, vivra-t-il? Toute sa justice sera oubliée, parce qu'il s'est livré à l'iniquité et au péché; à cause de cela, il mourra. (Ⅱ)

- ἐν δὲ τω̨̃ ἀποστρέψαι δίκαιον ἐκ τη̃ς δικαιοσύνης αὐτου̃ καὶ ποιήση̨ ἀδικίαν κατὰ πάσας τὰς ἀνομίας ἃς ἐποίησεν ὁ ἄνομος πα̃σαι αἱ δικαιοσύναι αὐτου̃ ἃς ἐποίησεν οὐ μὴ μνησθω̃σιν ἐν τω̨̃ παραπτώματι αὐτου̃ ὡ̨̃ παρέπεσεν καὶ ἐν ται̃ς ἁμαρτίαις αὐτου̃ αἱ̃ς ἥμαρτεν ἐν αὐται̃ς ἀποθανει̃ται (Ⅲ)

- Si autem averterit se justus a justitia sua, et fecerit iniquitatem secundum omnes abominationes quas operari solet impius, numquid vivet ? Omnes justitiæ ejus quas fecerat, non recordabuntur : in prævaricatione qua prævaricatus est, et in peccato suo quod peccavit, in ipsis morietur.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 24 ׃18 ובשוב צדיק מצדקתו ועשה עול ככל התועבות אשר עשה הרשע יעשה וחי כל *צדקתו **צדקתיו אשר עשה לא תזכרנה במעלו אשר מעל ובחטאתו אשר חטא בם ימות ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 25

Yet ye say, The way of the LORD is not equal. Hear now, O house of Israel; Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal?

- Vous dites: La voie du Seigneur n'est pas droite. Écoutez donc, maison d'Israël! Est-ce ma voie qui n'est pas droite? Ne sont-ce pas plutôt vos voies qui ne sont pas droites? (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἴπατε οὐ κατευθύνει ἡ ὁδὸς κυρίου ἀκούσατε δή πα̃ς οἰ̃κος Ισραηλ μὴ ἡ ὁδός μου οὐ κατευθύνει οὐχὶ ἡ ὁδὸς ὑμω̃ν οὐ κατευθύνει (Ⅲ)

- Et dixistis : Non est æqua via Domini ! Audite ergo, domus Israël : numquid via mea non est æqua, et non magis viæ vestræ pravæ sunt ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 25 ׃18 ואמרתם לא יתכן דרך אדני שמעו נא בית ישראל הדרכי לא יתכן הלא דרכיכם לא יתכנו ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 26

When a righteous man turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and dieth in them; for his iniquity that he hath done shall he die.

- Si le juste se détourne de sa justice et commet l'iniquité, et meurt pour cela, il meurt à cause de l'iniquité qu'il a commise. (Ⅱ)

- ἐν τω̨̃ ἀποστρέψαι τὸν δίκαιον ἐκ τη̃ς δικαιοσύνης αὐτου̃ καὶ ποιήση̨ παράπτωμα καὶ ἀποθάνη̨ ἐν τω̨̃ παραπτώματι ὡ̨̃ ἐποίησεν ἐν αὐτω̨̃ ἀποθανει̃ται (Ⅲ)

- Cum enim averterit se justus a justitia sua, et fecerit iniquitatem, morietur in eis : in injustitia quam operatus est morietur. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 26 ׃18 בשוב צדיק מצדקתו ועשה עול ומת עליהם בעולו אשר עשה ימות ס‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 27

Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive.

- Si le méchant revient de sa méchanceté et pratique la droiture et la justice, il fera vivre son âme. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐν τω̨̃ ἀποστρέψαι ἄνομον ἀπὸ τη̃ς ἀνομίας αὐτου̃ ἡ̃ς ἐποίησεν καὶ ποιήση̨ κρίμα καὶ δικαιοσύνην οὑ̃τος τὴν ψυχὴν αὐτου̃ ἐφύλαξεν (Ⅲ)

- Et cum averterit se impius ab impietate sua quam operatus est, et fecerit judicium et justitiam, ipse animam suam vivificabit : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 27 ׃18 ובשוב רשע מרשעתו אשר עשה ויעש משפט וצדקה הוא את נפשו יחיה ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 28

Because he considereth, and turneth away from all his transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die.

- S'il ouvre les yeux et se détourne de toutes les transgressions qu'il a commises, il vivra, il ne mourra pas. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀπέστρεψεν ἐκ πασω̃ν τω̃ν ἀσεβειω̃ν αὐτου̃ ὡ̃ν ἐποίησεν ζωη̨̃ ζήσεται οὐ μὴ ἀποθάνη̨ (Ⅲ)

- considerans enim, et avertens se ab omnibus iniquitatibus suis quas operatus est, vita vivet, et non morietur. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 28 ׃18 ויראה *וישוב **וישב מכל פשעיו אשר עשה חיו יחיה לא ימות ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 29

Yet saith the house of Israel, The way of the LORD is not equal. O house of Israel, are not my ways equal? are not your ways unequal?

- La maison d'Israël dit: La voie du Seigneur n'est pas droite. Est-ce ma voie qui n'est pas droite, maison d'Israël? Ne sont-ce pas plutôt vos voies qui ne sont pas droites? (Ⅱ)

- καὶ λέγουσιν ὁ οἰ̃κος του̃ Ισραηλ οὐ κατορθοι̃ ἡ ὁδὸς κυρίου μὴ ἡ ὁδός μου οὐ κατορθοι̃ οἰ̃κος Ισραηλ οὐχὶ ἡ ὁδὸς ὑμω̃ν οὐ κατορθοι̃ (Ⅲ)

- Et dicunt filii Israël : Non est æqua via Domini ! Numquid viæ meæ non sunt æquæ, domus Israël, et non magis viæ vestræ pravæ ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 29 ׃18 ואמרו בית ישראל לא יתכן דרך אדני הדרכי לא יתכנו‪[1]‬ בית ישראל הלא דרכיכם לא יתכן ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 30

Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord GOD. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin.

- C'est pourquoi je vous jugerai chacun selon ses voies, maison d'Israël, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel. Revenez et détournez-vous de toutes vos transgressions, afin que l'iniquité ne cause pas votre ruine. (Ⅱ)

- ἕκαστον κατὰ τὴν ὁδὸν αὐτου̃ κρινω̃ ὑμα̃ς οἰ̃κος Ισραηλ λέγει κύριος ἐπιστράφητε καὶ ἀποστρέψατε ἐκ πασω̃ν τω̃ν ἀσεβειω̃ν ὑμω̃ν καὶ οὐκ ἔσονται ὑμι̃ν εἰς κόλασιν ἀδικίας (Ⅲ)

- Idcirco unumquemque juxta vias suas judicabo, domus Israël, ait Dominus Deus. Convertimini, et agite pœnitentiam ab omnibus iniquitatibus vestris, et non erit vobis in ruinam iniquitas. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 30 ׃18 לכן איש כדרכיו אשפט אתכם בית ישראל נאם אדני יהוה שובו והשיבו מכל פשעיכם ולא יהיה לכם למכשול עון ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 31

Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel?

- Rejetez loin de vous toutes les transgressions par lesquelles vous avez péché; faites-vous un coeur nouveau et un esprit nouveau. Pourquoi mourriez-vous, maison d'Israël? (Ⅱ)

- ἀπορρίψατε ἀπὸ ἑαυτω̃ν πάσας τὰς ἀσεβείας ὑμω̃ν ἃς ἠσεβήσατε εἰς ἐμέ καὶ ποιήσατε ἑαυτοι̃ς καρδίαν καινὴν καὶ πνευ̃μα καινόν καὶ ἵνα τί ἀποθνή̨σκετε οἰ̃κος Ισραηλ (Ⅲ)

- Projicite a vobis omnes prævaricationes vestras in quibus prævaricati estis, et facite vobis cor novum, et spiritum novum : et quare moriemini, domus Israël ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 31 ׃18 השליכו מעליכם את כל פשעיכם אשר פשעתם בם ועשו לכם לב חדש ורוח חדשה ולמה תמתו בית ישראל ‬ (Ⅴ)

18. 32

For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.

- Car je ne désire pas la mort de celui qui meurt, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel. Convertissez-vous donc, et vivez. (Ⅱ)

- διότι οὐ θέλω τὸν θάνατον του̃ ἀποθνή̨σκοντος λέγει κύριος (Ⅲ)

- Quia nolo mortem morientis, dicit Dominus Deus : revertimini, et vivite. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 32 ׃18 כי לא אחפץ במות המת נאם אדני יהוה והשיבו וחיו פ‬ (Ⅴ)
