8. 1

In the third year of the reign of king Belshazzar a vision appeared unto me, even unto me Daniel, after that which appeared unto me at the first.

- La troisième année du règne du roi Beltschatsar, moi, Daniel, j'eus une vision, outre celle que j'avais eue précédemment. (Ⅱ)

- ἐν ἔτει τρίτω̨ τη̃ς βασιλείας Βαλτασαρ του̃ βασιλέως ὅρασις ὤφθη πρός με ἐγὼ Δανιηλ μετὰ τὴν ὀφθει̃σάν μοι τὴν ἀρχήν (Ⅲ)

- Anno tertio regni Baltassar regis, visio apparuit mihi. Ego Daniel, post id quod videram in principio, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 1 ׃8 בשנת שלוש למלכות בלאשצר המלך חזון נראה אלי אני דניאל אחרי הנראה אלי בתחלה ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 2

And I saw in a vision; and it came to pass, when I saw, that I was at Shushan in the palace, which is in the province of Elam; and I saw in a vision, and I was by the river of Ulai.

- Lorsque j'eus cette vision, il me sembla que j'étais à Suse, la capitale, dans la province d'Élam; et pendant ma vision, je me trouvais près du fleuve d'Ulaï. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἤμην ἐν Σούσοις τη̨̃ βάρει ἥ ἐστιν ἐν χώρα̨ Αιλαμ καὶ εἰ̃δον ἐν ὁράματι καὶ ἤμην ἐπὶ του̃ Ουβαλ (Ⅲ)

- vidi in visione mea, cum essem in Susis castro, quod est in Ælam regione : vidi autem in visione esse me super portam Ulai. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 2 ׃8 ואראה בחזון ויהי בראתי ואני בשושן הבירה אשר בעילם המדינה ואראה בחזון ואני הייתי על אובל אולי ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 3

Then I lifted up mine eyes, and saw, and, behold, there stood before the river a ram which had two horns: and the two horns were high; but one was higher than the other, and the higher came up last.

- Je levai les yeux, je regardai, et voici, un bélier se tenait devant le fleuve, et il avait des cornes; ces cornes étaient hautes, mais l'une était plus haute que l'autre, et elle s'éleva la dernière. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἠ̃ρα τοὺς ὀφθαλμούς μου καὶ εἰ̃δον καὶ ἰδοὺ κριὸς εἱ̃ς ἑστηκὼς πρὸ του̃ Ουβαλ καὶ αὐτω̨̃ κέρατα καὶ τὰ κέρατα ὑψηλά καὶ τὸ ἓν ὑψηλότερον του̃ ἑτέρου καὶ τὸ ὑψηλὸν ἀνέβαινεν ἐπ' ἐσχάτων (Ⅲ)

- Et levavi oculus meos, et vidi : et ecce aries unus stabat ante paludem, habens cornua excelsa, et unum excelsius altero atque succrescens. Postea (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 3 ׃8 ואשא עיני ואראה והנה איל אחד עמד לפני האבל ולו קרנים והקרנים גבהות והאחת גבהה מן השנית והגבהה עלה באחרנה ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 4

I saw the ram pushing westward, and northward, and southward; so that no beasts might stand before him, neither was there any that could deliver out of his hand; but he did according to his will, and became great.

- Je vis le bélier qui frappait de ses cornes à l'occident, au septentrion et au midi; aucun animal ne pouvait lui résister, et il n'y avait personne pour délivrer ses victimes; il faisait ce qu'il voulait, et il devint puissant. (Ⅱ)

- εἰ̃δον τὸν κριὸν κερατίζοντα κατὰ θάλασσαν καὶ βορρα̃ν καὶ νότον καὶ πάντα τὰ θηρία οὐ στήσονται ἐνώπιον αὐτου̃ καὶ οὐκ ἠ̃ν ὁ ἐξαιρούμενος ἐκ χειρὸς αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐποίησεν κατὰ τὸ θέλημα αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐμεγαλύνθη (Ⅲ)

- vidi arietem cornibus ventilantem contra occidentem, et contra aquilonem, et contra meridiem, et omnes bestiæ non poterant resistere ei, neque liberari de manu ejus : fecitque secundum voluntatem suam, et magnificatus est. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 4 ׃8 ראיתי את האיל מנגח ימה וצפונה ונגבה וכל חיות לא יעמדו לפניו ואין מציל מידו ועשה כרצנו והגדיל ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 5

And as I was considering, behold, an he goat came from the west on the face of the whole earth, and touched not the ground: and the goat had a notable horn between his eyes.

- Comme je regardais attentivement, voici, un bouc venait de l'occident, et parcourait toute la terre à sa surface, sans la toucher; ce bouc avait une grande corne entre les yeux. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐγὼ ἤμην συνίων καὶ ἰδοὺ τράγος αἰγω̃ν ἤρχετο ἀπὸ λιβὸς ἐπὶ πρόσωπον πάσης τη̃ς γη̃ς καὶ οὐκ ἠ̃ν ἁπτόμενος τη̃ς γη̃ς καὶ τω̨̃ τράγω̨ κέρας θεωρητὸν ἀνὰ μέσον τω̃ν ὀφθαλμω̃ν αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Et ego intelligebam : ecce autem hircus caprarum veniebat ab occidente super faciem totius terræ, et non tangebat terram : porro hircus habebat cornu insigne inter oculos suos. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 5 ׃8 ואני הייתי מבין והנה צפיר העזים בא מן המערב על פני כל הארץ ואין נוגע בארץ והצפיר קרן חזות בין עיניו ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 6

And he came to the ram that had two horns, which I had seen standing before the river, and ran unto him in the fury of his power.

- Il arriva jusqu'au bélier qui avait des cornes, et que j'avais vu se tenant devant le fleuve, et il courut sur lui dans toute sa fureur. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἠ̃λθεν ἕως του̃ κριου̃ του̃ τὰ κέρατα ἔχοντος οὑ̃ εἰ̃δον ἑστω̃τος ἐνώπιον του̃ Ουβαλ καὶ ἔδραμεν πρὸς αὐτὸν ἐν ὁρμη̨̃ τη̃ς ἰσχύος αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Et venit usque ad arietem illum cornutum, quem videram stantem ante portam, et cucurrit ad eum in impetu fortitudinis suæ. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 6 ׃8 ויבא עד האיל בעל הקרנים אשר ראיתי עמד לפני האבל וירץ אליו בחמת כחו ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 7

And I saw him come close unto the ram, and he was moved with choler against him, and smote the ram, and brake his two horns: and there was no power in the ram to stand before him, but he cast him down to the ground, and stamped upon him: and there was none that could deliver the ram out of his hand.

- Je le vis qui s'approchait du bélier et s'irritait contre lui; il frappa le bélier et lui brisa les deux cornes, sans que le bélier eût la force de lui résister; il le jeta par terre et le foula, et il n'y eut personne pour délivrer le bélier. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃δον αὐτὸν φθάνοντα ἕως του̃ κριου̃ καὶ ἐξηγριάνθη πρὸς αὐτὸν καὶ ἔπαισεν τὸν κριὸν καὶ συνέτριψεν ἀμφότερα τὰ κέρατα αὐτου̃ καὶ οὐκ ἠ̃ν ἰσχὺς τω̨̃ κριω̨̃ του̃ στη̃ναι ἐνώπιον αὐτου̃ καὶ ἔρριψεν αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τὴν γη̃ν καὶ συνεπάτησεν αὐτόν καὶ οὐκ ἠ̃ν ὁ ἐξαιρούμενος τὸν κριὸν ἐκ χειρὸς αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Cumque appropinquasset prope arietem, efferatus est in eum, et percussit arietem : et comminuit duo cornua ejus, et non poterat aries resistere ei : cumque eum misisset in terram, conculcavit, et nemo quibat liberare arietem de manu ejus. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 7 ׃8 וראיתיו מגיע אצל האיל ויתמרמר אליו ויך את האיל וישבר את שתי קרניו ולא היה כח באיל לעמד לפניו וישליכהו ארצה וירמסהו ולא היה מציל לאיל מידו ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 8

Therefore the he goat waxed very great: and when he was strong, the great horn was broken; and for it came up four notable ones toward the four winds of heaven.

- Le bouc devint très puissant; mais lorsqu'il fut puissant, sa grande corne se brisa. Quatre grandes cornes s'élevèrent pour la remplacer, aux quatre vents des cieux. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ὁ τράγος τω̃ν αἰγω̃ν ἐμεγαλύνθη ἕως σφόδρα καὶ ἐν τω̨̃ ἰσχυ̃σαι αὐτὸν συνετρίβη τὸ κέρας αὐτου̃ τὸ μέγα καὶ ἀνέβη κέρατα τέσσαρα ὑποκάτω αὐτου̃ εἰς τοὺς τέσσαρας ἀνέμους του̃ οὐρανου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Hircus autem caprarum magnus factus est nimis : cumque crevisset, fractum est cornu magnum, et orta sunt quatuor cornua subter illud per quatuor ventos cæli. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 8 ׃8 וצפיר העזים הגדיל עד מאד וכעצמו נשברה הקרן הגדולה ותעלנה חזות ארבע תחתיה לארבע רוחות השמים ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 9

And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land.

- De l'une d'elles sortit une petite corne, qui s'agrandit beaucoup vers le midi, vers l'orient, et vers le plus beau des pays. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐκ του̃ ἑνὸς αὐτω̃ν ἐξη̃λθεν κέρας ἓν ἰσχυρὸν καὶ ἐμεγαλύνθη περισσω̃ς πρὸς τὸν νότον καὶ πρὸς ἀνατολὴν καὶ πρὸς τὴν δύναμιν (Ⅲ)

- De uno autem ex eis egressum est cornu unum modicum : et factum est grande contra meridiem, et contra orientem, et contra fortitudinem. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 9 ׃8 ומן האחת מהם יצא קרן אחת מצעירה ותגדל יתר אל הנגב ואל המזרח ואל הצבי ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 10

And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground, and stamped upon them.

- Elle s'éleva jusqu'à l'armée des cieux, elle fit tomber à terre une partie de cette armée et des étoiles, et elle les foula. (Ⅱ)

- ἐμεγαλύνθη ἕως τη̃ς δυνάμεως του̃ οὐρανου̃ καὶ ἔπεσεν ἐπὶ τὴν γη̃ν ἀπὸ τη̃ς δυνάμεως του̃ οὐρανου̃ καὶ ἀπὸ τω̃ν ἄστρων καὶ συνεπάτησεν αὐτά (Ⅲ)

- Et magnificatum est usque ad fortitudinem cæli : et dejecit de fortitudine, et de stellis, et conculcavit eas. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 10 ׃8 ותגדל עד צבא השמים ותפל ארצה מן הצבא ומן הכוכבים ותרמסם ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 11

Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of the sanctuary was cast down.

- Elle s'éleva jusqu'au chef de l'armée, lui enleva le sacrifice perpétuel, et renversa le lieu de son sanctuaire. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἕως οὑ̃ ὁ ἀρχιστράτηγος ῥύσηται τὴν αἰχμαλωσίαν καὶ δι' αὐτὸν θυσία ἐρράχθη καὶ ἐγενήθη καὶ κατευοδώθη αὐτω̨̃ καὶ τὸ ἅγιον ἐρημωθήσεται (Ⅲ)

- Et usque ad principem fortitudinis magnificatum est : et ab eo tulit juge sacrificium, et dejecit locum sanctificationis ejus. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 11 ׃8 ועד שר הצבא הגדיל וממנו *הרים **הורם התמיד והשלך מכון מקדשו ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 12

And an host was given him against the daily sacrifice by reason of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised, and prospered.

- L'armée fut livrée avec le sacrifice perpétuel, à cause du péché; la corne jeta la vérité par terre, et réussit dans ses entreprises. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐδόθη ἐπὶ τὴν θυσίαν ἁμαρτία καὶ ἐρρίφη χαμαὶ ἡ δικαιοσύνη καὶ ἐποίησεν καὶ εὐοδώθη (Ⅲ)

- Robur autem datum est ei contra juge sacrificium propter peccata : et prosternetur veritas in terra, et faciet, et prosperabitur. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 12 ׃8 וצבא תנתן על התמיד בפשע ותשלך אמת ארצה ועשתה והצליחה ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 13

Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?

- J'entendis parler un saint; et un autre saint dit à celui qui parlait: Pendant combien de temps s'accomplira la vision sur le sacrifice perpétuel et sur le péché dévastateur? Jusques à quand le sanctuaire et l'armée seront-ils foulés? (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἤκουσα ἑνὸς ἁγίου λαλου̃ντος καὶ εἰ̃πεν εἱ̃ς ἅγιος τω̨̃ φελμουνι τω̨̃ λαλου̃ντι ἕως πότε ἡ ὅρασις στήσεται ἡ θυσία ἡ ἀρθει̃σα καὶ ἡ ἁμαρτία ἐρημώσεως ἡ δοθει̃σα καὶ τὸ ἅγιον καὶ ἡ δύναμις συμπατηθήσεται (Ⅲ)

- Et audivi unum de sanctis loquentem : et dixit unus sanctus alteri nescio cui loquenti : Usquequo visio, et juge sacrificium, et peccatum desolationis quæ facta est : et sanctuarium, et fortitudo conculcabitur ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 13 ׃8 ואשמעה אחד קדוש מדבר ויאמר אחד קדוש לפלמוני המדבר עד מתי החזון התמיד והפשע שמם תת וקדש וצבא מרמס ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 14

And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.

- Et il me dit: Deux mille trois cents soirs et matins; puis le sanctuaire sera purifié. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν αὐτω̨̃ ἕως ἑσπέρας καὶ πρωὶ ἡμέραι δισχίλιαι καὶ τριακόσιαι καὶ καθαρισθήσεται τὸ ἅγιον (Ⅲ)

- Et dixit ei : Usque ad vesperam et mane, dies duo millia trecenti : et mundabitur sanctuarium.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 14 ׃8 ויאמר אלי עד ערב בקר אלפים ושלש מאות ונצדק קדש ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 15

And it came to pass, when I, even I Daniel, had seen the vision, and sought for the meaning, then, behold, there stood before me as the appearance of a man.

- Tandis que moi, Daniel, j'avais cette vision et que je cherchais à la comprendre, voici, quelqu'un qui avait l'apparence d'un homme se tenait devant moi. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τω̨̃ ἰδει̃ν με ἐγὼ Δανιηλ τὴν ὅρασιν καὶ ἐζήτουν σύνεσιν καὶ ἰδοὺ ἔστη ἐνώπιον ἐμου̃ ὡς ὅρασις ἀνδρός (Ⅲ)

- Factum est autem cum viderem ego Daniel visionem, et quærerem intelligentiam : ecce stetit in conspectu meo quasi species viri. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 15 ׃8 ויהי בראתי אני דניאל את החזון ואבקשה בינה והנה עמד לנגדי כמראה גבר ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 16

And I heard a man's voice between the banks of Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision.

- Et j'entendis la voix d'un homme au milieu de l'Ulaï; il cria et dit: Gabriel, explique-lui la vision. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἤκουσα φωνὴν ἀνδρὸς ἀνὰ μέσον του̃ Ουβαλ καὶ ἐκάλεσεν καὶ εἰ̃πεν Γαβριηλ συνέτισον ἐκει̃νον τὴν ὅρασιν (Ⅲ)

- Et audivi vocem viri inter Ulai : et clamavit, et ait : Gabriel, fac intelligere istam visionem. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 16 ׃8 ואשמע קול אדם בין אולי ויקרא ויאמר גבריאל הבן להלז את המראה ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 17

So he came near where I stood: and when he came, I was afraid, and fell upon my face: but he said unto me, Understand, O son of man: for at the time of the end shall be the vision.

- Il vint alors près du lieu où j'étais; et à son approche, je fus effrayé, et je tombai sur ma face. Il me dit: Sois attentif, fils de l'homme, car la vision concerne un temps qui sera la fin. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἠ̃λθεν καὶ ἔστη ἐχόμενος τη̃ς στάσεώς μου καὶ ἐν τω̨̃ ἐλθει̃ν αὐτὸν ἐθαμβήθην καὶ πίπτω ἐπὶ πρόσωπόν μου καὶ εἰ̃πεν πρός με σύνες υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου ἔτι γὰρ εἰς καιρου̃ πέρας ἡ ὅρασις (Ⅲ)

- Et venit, et stetit juxta ubi ego stabam : cumque venisset, pavens corrui in faciem meam : et ait ad me : Intellige, fili hominis, quoniam in tempore finis complebitur visio. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 17 ׃8 ויבא אצל עמדי ובבאו נבעתי ואפלה על פני ויאמר אלי הבן בן אדם כי לעת קץ החזון ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 18

Now as he was speaking with me, I was in a deep sleep on my face toward the ground: but he touched me, and set me upright.

- Comme il me parlait, je restai frappé d'étourdissement, la face contre terre. Il me toucha, et me fit tenir debout à la place où je me trouvais. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐν τω̨̃ λαλει̃ν αὐτὸν μετ' ἐμου̃ πίπτω ἐπὶ πρόσωπόν μου ἐπὶ τὴν γη̃ν καὶ ἥψατό μου καὶ ἔστησέν με ἐπὶ πόδας (Ⅲ)

- Cumque loqueretur ad me, collapsus sum pronus in terram : et tetigit me, et statuit me in gradu meo, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 18 ׃8 ובדברו עמי נרדמתי על פני ארצה ויגע בי ויעמידני על עמדי ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 19

And he said, Behold, I will make thee know what shall be in the last end of the indignation: for at the time appointed the end shall be.

- Puis il me dit: Je vais t'apprendre, ce qui arrivera au terme de la colère, car il y a un temps marqué pour la fin. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ γνωρίζω σοι τὰ ἐσόμενα ἐπ' ἐσχάτων τη̃ς ὀργη̃ς ἔτι γὰρ εἰς καιρου̃ πέρας ἡ ὅρασις (Ⅲ)

- dixitque mihi : Ego ostendam tibi quæ futura sunt in novissimo maledictionis : quoniam habet tempus finem suum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 19 ׃8 ויאמר הנני מודיעך את אשר יהיה באחרית הזעם כי למועד קץ ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 20

The ram which thou sawest having two horns are the kings of Media and Persia.

- Le bélier que tu as vu, et qui avait des cornes, ce sont les rois des Mèdes et des Perses. (Ⅱ)

- ὁ κριός ὃν εἰ̃δες ὁ ἔχων τὰ κέρατα βασιλεὺς Μήδων καὶ Περσω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Aries, quem vidisti habere cornua, rex Medorum est atque Persarum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 20 ׃8 האיל אשר ראית בעל הקרנים מלכי מדי ופרס ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 21

And the rough goat is the king of Grecia: and the great horn that is between his eyes is the first king.

- Le bouc, c'est le roi de Javan, La grande corne entre ses yeux, c'est le premier roi. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ὁ τράγος τω̃ν αἰγω̃ν βασιλεὺς 'Ελλήνων καὶ τὸ κέρας τὸ μέγα ὃ ἠ̃ν ἀνὰ μέσον τω̃ν ὀφθαλμω̃ν αὐτου̃ αὐτός ἐστιν ὁ βασιλεὺς ὁ πρω̃τος (Ⅲ)

- Porro hircus caprarum, rex Græcorum est ; et cornu grande, quod erat inter oculos ejus, ipse est rex primus. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 21 ׃8 והצפיר השעיר מלך יון והקרן הגדולה אשר בין עיניו הוא המלך הראשון ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 22

Now that being broken, whereas four stood up for it, four kingdoms shall stand up out of the nation, but not in his power.

- Les quatre cornes qui se sont élevées pour remplacer cette corne brisée, ce sont quatre royaumes qui s'élèveront de cette nation, mais qui n'auront pas autant de force. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ του̃ συντριβέντος οὑ̃ ἔστησαν τέσσαρα ὑποκάτω κέρατα τέσσαρες βασιλει̃ς ἐκ του̃ ἔθνους αὐτου̃ ἀναστήσονται καὶ οὐκ ἐν τη̨̃ ἰσχύι αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Quod autem fracto illo surrexerunt quatuor pro eo : quatuor reges de gente ejus consurgent, sed non in fortitudine ejus. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 22 ׃8 והנשברת ותעמדנה ארבע תחתיה ארבע מלכיות מגוי יעמדנה ולא בכחו ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 23

And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up.

- A la fin de leur domination, lorsque les pécheurs seront consumés, il s'élèvera un roi impudent et artificieux. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐπ' ἐσχάτων τη̃ς βασιλείας αὐτω̃ν πληρουμένων τω̃ν ἁμαρτιω̃ν αὐτω̃ν ἀναστήσεται βασιλεὺς ἀναιδὴς προσώπω̨ καὶ συνίων προβλήματα (Ⅲ)

- Et post regnum eorum, cum creverint iniquitates, consurget rex impudens facie, et intelligens propositiones ; (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 23 ׃8 ובאחרית מלכותם כהתם הפשעים יעמד מלך עז פנים ומבין חידות ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 24

And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.

- Sa puissance s'accroîtra, mais non par sa propre force; il fera d'incroyables ravages, il réussira dans ses entreprises, il détruira les puissants et le peuple des saints. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ κραταιὰ ἡ ἰσχὺς αὐτου̃ καὶ οὐκ ἐν τη̨̃ ἰσχύι αὐτου̃ καὶ θαυμαστὰ διαφθερει̃ καὶ κατευθυνει̃ καὶ ποιήσει καὶ διαφθερει̃ ἰσχυροὺς καὶ λαὸν ἅγιον (Ⅲ)

- et roborabitur fortitudo ejus, sed non in viribus suis : et supra quam credi potest, universa vastabit, et prosperabitur, et faciet. Et interficiet robustos, et populum sanctorum (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 24 ׃8 ועצם כחו ולא בכחו ונפלאות ישחית והצליח ועשה והשחית עצומים ועם קדשים ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 25

And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.

- A cause de sa prospérité et du succès de ses ruses, il aura de l'arrogance dans le coeur, il fera périr beaucoup d'hommes qui vivaient paisiblement, et il s'élèvera contre le chef des chefs; mais il sera brisé, sans l'effort d'aucune main. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ὁ ζυγὸς του̃ κλοιου̃ αὐτου̃ κατευθυνει̃ δόλος ἐν τη̨̃ χειρὶ αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐν καρδία̨ αὐτου̃ μεγαλυνθήσεται καὶ δόλω̨ διαφθερει̃ πολλοὺς καὶ ἐπὶ ἀπωλείας πολλω̃ν στήσεται καὶ ὡς ὠ̨ὰ χειρὶ συντρίψει (Ⅲ)

- secundum voluntatem suam, et dirigetur dolus in manu ejus : et cor suum magnificabit, et in copia rerum omnium occidet plurimos : et contra principem principum consurget, et sine manu conteretur. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 25 ׃8 ועל שכלו והצליח מרמה בידו ובלבבו יגדיל ובשלוה ישחית רבים ועל שר שרים יעמד ובאפס יד ישבר ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 26

And the vision of the evening and the morning which was told is true: wherefore shut thou up the vision; for it shall be for many days.

- Et la vision des soirs et des matins, dont il s'agit, est véritable. Pour toi, tiens secrète cette vision, car elle se rapporte à des temps éloignés. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἡ ὅρασις τη̃ς ἑσπέρας καὶ τη̃ς πρωίας τη̃ς ῥηθείσης ἀληθής ἐστιν καὶ σὺ σφράγισον τὴν ὅρασιν ὅτι εἰς ἡμέρας πολλάς (Ⅲ)

- Et visio vespere et mane, quæ dicta est, vera est : tu ergo visionem signa, quia post multos dies erit. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 26 ׃8 ומראה הערב והבקר אשר נאמר אמת הוא ואתה סתם החזון כי לימים רבים ‬ (Ⅴ)

8. 27

And I Daniel fainted, and was sick certain days; afterward I rose up, and did the king's business; and I was astonished at the vision, but none understood it.

- Moi, Daniel, je fus plusieurs jours languissant et malade; puis je me levai, et je m'occupai des affaires du roi. J'étais étonné de la vision, et personne n'en eut connaissance. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐγὼ Δανιηλ ἐκοιμήθην καὶ ἐμαλακίσθην ἡμέρας καὶ ἀνέστην καὶ ἐποίουν τὰ ἔργα του̃ βασιλέως καὶ ἐθαύμαζον τὴν ὅρασιν καὶ οὐκ ἠ̃ν ὁ συνίων (Ⅲ)

- Et ego Daniel langui, et ægrotavi per dies : cumque surrexissem, faciebam opera regis, et stupebam ad visionem, et non erat qui interpretaretur. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 27 ׃8 ואני דניאל נהייתי ונחליתי ימים ואקום ואעשה את מלאכת המלך ואשתומם על המראה ואין מבין פ‬ (Ⅴ)
