When Ephraim spake trembling, he exalted himself in Israel; but when he offended in Baal, he died.
- Lorsqu'Éphraïm parlait, c'était une terreur: Il s'élevait en Israël. Mais il s'est rendu coupable par Baal, et il est mort. (Ⅱ) - κατὰ τὸν λόγον Εφραιμ δικαιώματα αὐτὸς ἔλαβεν ἐν τω̨̃ Ισραηλ καὶ ἔθετο αὐτὰ τη̨̃ Βααλ καὶ ἀπέθανεν (Ⅲ) - Loquente Ephraim, horror invasit Israël ;/ et deliquit in Baal, et mortuus est./ (Ⅳ) - 1 ׃13 כדבר אפרים רתת נשא הוא בישראל ויאשם בבעל וימת (Ⅴ)

And now they sin more and more, and have made them molten images of their silver, and idols according to their own understanding, all of it the work of the craftsmen: they say of them, Let the men that sacrifice kiss the calves.
- Maintenant ils continuent à pécher, Ils se font avec leur argent des images en fonte, Des idoles de leur invention; Toutes sont l'oeuvre des artisans. On dit à leur sujet: Que ceux qui sacrifient baisent les veaux! (Ⅱ) - καὶ προσέθετο του̃ ἁμαρτάνειν ἔτι καὶ ἐποίησαν ἑαυτοι̃ς χώνευμα ἐκ του̃ ἀργυρίου αὐτω̃ν κατ' εἰκόνα εἰδώλων ἔργα τεκτόνων συντετελεσμένα αὐτοι̃ς αὐτοὶ λέγουσιν θύσατε ἀνθρώπους μόσχοι γὰρ ἐκλελοίπασιν (Ⅲ) - Et nunc addiderunt ad peccandum ;/ feceruntque sibi conflatile de argento suo/ quasi similitudinem idolorum :/ factura artificum totum est :/ his ipsi dicunt : Immolate homines, vitulos adorantes./ (Ⅳ) - 2 ׃13 ועתה יוספו לחטא ויעשו להם מסכה מכספם כתבונם עצבים מעשה חרשים כלה להם הם אמרים זבחי אדם עגלים ישקון (Ⅴ)

Therefore they shall be as the morning cloud and as the early dew that passeth away, as the chaff that is driven with the whirlwind out of the floor, and as the smoke out of the chimney.
- C'est pourquoi ils seront comme la nuée du matin, Comme la rosée qui bientôt se dissipe, Comme la balle emportée par le vent hors de l'aire, Comme la fumée qui sort d'une fenêtre. (Ⅱ) - διὰ του̃το ἔσονται ὡς νεφέλη πρωινὴ καὶ ὡς δρόσος ὀρθρινὴ πορευομένη ὥσπερ χνου̃ς ἀποφυσώμενος ἀφ' ἅλωνος καὶ ὡς ἀτμὶς ἀπὸ ἀκρίδων (Ⅲ) - Idcirco erunt quasi nubes matutina,/ et sicut ros matutinus præteriens ;/ sicut pulvis turbine raptus ex area,/ et sicut fumus de fumario./ (Ⅳ) - 3 ׃13 לכן יהיו כענן בקר וכטל משכים הלך כמץ יסער מגרן וכעשן מארבה (Ⅴ)

Yet I am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but me: for there is no saviour beside me.
- Et moi, je suis l'Éternel, ton Dieu, dès le pays d'Égypte. Tu ne connais d'autre Dieu que moi, Et il n'y a de sauveur que moi. (Ⅱ) - ἐγὼ δὲ κύριος ὁ θεός σου στερεω̃ν οὐρανὸν καὶ κτίζων γη̃ν οὑ̃ αἱ χει̃ρες ἔκτισαν πα̃σαν τὴν στρατιὰν του̃ οὐρανου̃ καὶ οὐ παρέδειξά σοι αὐτὰ του̃ πορεύεσθαι ὀπίσω αὐτω̃ν καὶ ἐγὼ ἀνήγαγόν σε ἐκ γη̃ς Αἰγύπτου καὶ θεὸν πλὴν ἐμου̃ οὐ γνώση̨ καὶ σώ̨ζων οὐκ ἔστιν πάρεξ ἐμου̃ (Ⅲ) - Ego autem Dominus Deus tuus, ex terra Ægypti ;/ et Deum absque me nescies,/ et salvator non est præter me./ (Ⅳ) - 4 ׃13 ואנכי יהוה אלהיך מארץ מצרים ואלהים זולתי לא תדע ומושיע אין בלתי (Ⅴ)

I did know thee in the wilderness, in the land of great drought.
- Je t'ai connu dans le désert, Dans une terre aride. (Ⅱ) - ἐγὼ ἐποίμαινόν σε ἐν τη̨̃ ἐρήμω̨ ἐν γη̨̃ ἀοικήτω̨ (Ⅲ) - Ego cognovi te in deserto,/ in terra solitudinis./ (Ⅳ) - 5 ׃13 אני ידעתיך במדבר בארץ תלאבות (Ⅴ)

According to their pasture, so were they filled; they were filled, and their heart was exalted; therefore have they forgotten me.
- Ils se sont rassasiés dans leurs pâturages; Ils se sont rassasiés, et leur coeur s'est enflé; C'est pourquoi ils m'ont oublié. (Ⅱ) - κατὰ τὰς νομὰς αὐτω̃ν καὶ ἐνεπλήσθησαν εἰς πλησμονήν καὶ ὑψώθησαν αἱ καρδίαι αὐτω̃ν ἕνεκα τούτου ἐπελάθοντό μου (Ⅲ) - Juxta pascua sua adimpleti sunt et saturati sunt ;/ et levaverunt cor suum, et obliti sunt mei./ (Ⅳ) - 6 ׃13 כמרעיתם וישבעו שבעו וירם לבם על כן שכחוני (Ⅴ)

Therefore I will be unto them as a lion: as a leopard by the way will I observe them:
- Je serai pour eux comme un lion; Comme une panthère, je les épierai sur la route. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔσομαι αὐτοι̃ς ὡς πανθὴρ καὶ ὡς πάρδαλις κατὰ τὴν ὁδὸν 'Ασσυρίων (Ⅲ) - Et ego ero eis quasi leæna,/ sicut pardus in via Assyriorum./ (Ⅳ) - 7 ׃13 ואהי להם כמו שחל כנמר על דרך אשור (Ⅴ)

I will meet them as a bear that is bereaved of her whelps, and will rend the caul of their heart, and there will I devour them like a lion: the wild beast shall tear them.
- Je les attaquerai, comme une ourse à qui l'on a enlevé ses petits, Et je déchirerai l'enveloppe de leur coeur; Je les dévorerai, comme une lionne; Les bêtes des champs les mettront en pièces. (Ⅱ) - ἀπαντήσομαι αὐτοι̃ς ὡς ἄρκος ἀπορουμένη καὶ διαρρήξω συγκλεισμὸν καρδίας αὐτω̃ν καὶ καταφάγονται αὐτοὺς ἐκει̃ σκύμνοι δρυμου̃ θηρία ἀγρου̃ διασπάσει αὐτούς (Ⅲ) - Occurram eis quasi ursa raptis catulis,/ et dirumpam interiora jecoris eorum,/ et consumam eos ibi quasi leo :/ bestia agri scindet eos./ (Ⅳ) - 8 ׃13 אפגשם כדב שכול ואקרע סגור לבם ואכלם שם כלביא חית השדה תבקעם (Ⅴ)

O Israel, thou hast destroyed thyself; but in me is thine help.
- Ce qui cause ta ruine, Israël, C'est que tu as été contre moi, contre celui qui pouvait te secourir. (Ⅱ) - τη̨̃ διαφθορα̨̃ σου Ισραηλ τίς βοηθήσει (Ⅲ) - Perditio tua, Israël : tantummodo in me auxilium tuum./ (Ⅳ) - 9 ׃13 שחתך ישראל כי בי בעזרך (Ⅴ)

I will be thy king: where is any other that may save thee in all thy cities? and thy judges of whom thou saidst, Give me a king and princes?
- Où donc est ton roi? Qu'il te délivre dans toutes tes villes! Où sont tes juges, au sujet desquels tu disais: Donne-moi un roi et des princes? (Ⅱ) - που̃ ὁ βασιλεύς σου οὑ̃τος καὶ διασωσάτω σε ἐν πάσαις ται̃ς πόλεσίν σου κρινάτω σε ὃν εἰ̃πας δός μοι βασιλέα καὶ ἄρχοντα (Ⅲ) - Ubi est rex tuus ?/ maxime nunc salvet te in omnibus urbibus tuis ;/ et judices tui, de quibus dixisti :/ Da mihi regem et principes./ (Ⅳ) - 10 ׃13 אהי מלכך אפוא ויושיעך בכל עריך ושפטיך אשר אמרת תנה לי מלך ושרים (Ⅴ)

I gave thee a king in mine anger, and took him away in my wrath.
- Je t'ai donné un roi dans ma colère, Je te l'ôterai dans ma fureur. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔδωκά σοι βασιλέα ἐν ὀργη̨̃ μου καὶ ἔσχον ἐν τω̨̃ θυμω̨̃ μου (Ⅲ) - Dabo tibi regem in furore meo,/ et auferam in indignatione mea./ (Ⅳ) - 11 ׃13 אתן לך מלך באפי ואקח בעברתי ס (Ⅴ)

The iniquity of Ephraim is bound up; his sin is hid.
- L'iniquité d'Éphraïm est gardée, Son péché est mis en réserve. (Ⅱ) - συστροφὴν ἀδικίας Εφραιμ ἐγκεκρυμμένη ἡ ἁμαρτία αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - Colligata est iniquitas Ephraim ;/ absconditum peccatum ejus./ (Ⅳ) - 12 ׃13 צרור עון אפרים צפונה חטאתו (Ⅴ)

The sorrows of a travailing woman shall come upon him: he is an unwise son; for he should not stay long in the place of the breaking forth of children.
- Les douleurs de celle qui enfante viendront pour lui; C'est un enfant peu sage, Qui, au terme voulu, ne sort pas du sein maternel. (Ⅱ) - ὠδι̃νες ὡς τικτούσης ἥξουσιν αὐτω̨̃ οὑ̃τος ὁ υἱός σου οὐ φρόνιμος διότι οὐ μὴ ὑποστη̨̃ ἐν συντριβη̨̃ τέκνων (Ⅲ) - Dolores parturientis venient ei :/ ipse filius non sapiens :/ nunc enim non stabit in contritione filiorum./ (Ⅳ) - 13 ׃13 חבלי יולדה יבאו לו הוא בן לא חכם כי עת לא יעמד במשבר בנים (Ⅴ)

I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction: repentance shall be hid from mine eyes.
- Je les rachèterai de la puissance du séjour des morts, Je les délivrerai de la mort. O mort, où est ta peste? Séjour des morts, où est ta destruction? Mais le repentir se dérobe à mes regards! (Ⅱ) - ἐκ χειρὸς ἅ̨δου ῥύσομαι αὐτοὺς καὶ ἐκ θανάτου λυτρώσομαι αὐτούς που̃ ἡ δίκη σου θάνατε που̃ τὸ κέντρον σου ἅ̨δη παράκλησις κέκρυπται ἀπὸ ὀφθαλμω̃ν μου (Ⅲ) - De manu mortis liberabo eos ;/ de morte redimam eos./ Ero mors tua, o mors !/ morsus tuus ero, inferne !/ consolatio abscondita est ab oculis meis./ (Ⅳ) - 14 ׃13 מיד שאול אפדם ממות אגאלם אהי דבריך[U] מות אהי קטבך שאול נחם יסתר מעיני (Ⅴ)

Though he be fruitful among his brethren, an east wind shall come, the wind of the LORD shall come up from the wilderness, and his spring shall become dry, and his fountain shall be dried up: he shall spoil the treasure of all pleasant vessels.
- Éphraïm a beau être fertile au milieu de ses frères, Le vent d'orient viendra, le vent de l'Éternel s'élèvera du désert, Desséchera ses sources, tarira ses fontaines. On pillera le trésor de tous les objets précieux. (Ⅱ) - διότι οὑ̃τος ἀνὰ μέσον ἀδελφω̃ν διαστελει̃ ἐπάξει ἄνεμον καύσωνα κύριος ἐκ τη̃ς ἐρήμου ἐπ' αὐτόν καὶ ἀναξηρανει̃ τὰς φλέβας αὐτου̃ ἐξερημώσει τὰς πηγὰς αὐτου̃ αὐτὸς καταξηρανει̃ τὴν γη̃ν αὐτου̃ καὶ πάντα τὰ σκεύη τὰ ἐπιθυμητὰ αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - Quia ipse inter fratres dividet :/ adducet urentem ventum Dominus de deserto ascendentem,/ et siccabit venas ejus,/ et desolabit fontem ejus :/ et ipse diripiet thesaurum omnis vasis desiderabilis.] (Ⅳ) - 15 ׃13 כי הוא בן[U] אחים יפריא יבוא קדים רוח יהוה ממדבר עלה ויבוש מקורו ויחרב מעינו הוא ישסה אוצר כל כלי חמדה (Ⅴ)

Samaria shall become desolate; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up.
- Samarie sera punie, parce qu'elle s'est révoltée contre son Dieu. Ils tomberont par l'épée; Leurs petits enfants seront écrasés, Et l'on fendra le ventre de leurs femmes enceintes. (Ⅱ) - ἀφανισθήσεται Σαμάρεια ὅτι ἀντέστη πρὸς τὸν θεὸν αὐτη̃ς ἐν ῥομφαία̨ πεσου̃νται αὐτοί καὶ τὰ ὑποτίτθια αὐτω̃ν ἐδαφισθήσονται καὶ αἱ ἐν γαστρὶ ἔχουσαι αὐτω̃ν διαρραγήσονται (Ⅲ) - Pereat Samaria, quoniam ad amaritudinem concitavit Deum suum !/ in gladio pereant,/ parvuli eorum elidantur,/ et fœtæ ejus discindantur !]\ (Ⅳ) - 1 ׃14 תאשם שמרון כי מרתה באלהיה בחרב יפלו עלליהם ירטשו והריותיו יבקעו פ (Ⅴ)
