2. 1

Say ye unto your brethren, Ammi; and to your sisters, Ruhamah.

- Dites à vos frères: Ammi! et à vos soeurs: Ruchama! (Ⅱ)

- εἴπατε τω̨̃ ἀδελφω̨̃ ὑμω̃ν Λαόσ-μου καὶ τη̨̃ ἀδελφη̨̃ ὑμω̃ν 'Ηλεημένη (Ⅲ)

- Dicite fratribus vestris : Populus meus ; et sorori vestræ : Misericordiam consecuta.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 3 ׃2 אמרו לאחיכם עמי ולאחותיכם רחמה ‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 2

Plead with your mother, plead: for she is not my wife, neither am I her husband: let her therefore put away her whoredoms out of her sight, and her adulteries from between her breasts;

- Plaidez, plaidez contre votre mère, car elle n'est point ma femme, et je ne suis point son mari! Qu'elle ôte de sa face ses prostitutions, et de son sein ses adultères! (Ⅱ)

- κρίθητε πρὸς τὴν μητέρα ὑμω̃ν κρίθητε ὅτι αὐτὴ οὐ γυνή μου καὶ ἐγὼ οὐκ ἀνὴρ αὐτη̃ς καὶ ἐξαρω̃ τὴν πορνείαν αὐτη̃ς ἐκ προσώπου μου καὶ τὴν μοιχείαν αὐτη̃ς ἐκ μέσου μαστω̃ν αὐτη̃ς (Ⅲ)

- Judicate matrem vestram, judicate,/ quoniam ipsa non uxor mea,/ et ego non vir ejus./ Auferat fornicationes suas a facie sua,/ et adulteria sua de medio uberum suorum ;/ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 4 ׃2 ריבו באמכם ריבו כי היא לא אשתי ואנכי לא אישה ותסר זנוניה מפניה‪[U]‬ ונאפופיה מבין שדיה ‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 3

Lest I strip her naked, and set her as in the day that she was born, and make her as a wilderness, and set her like a dry land, and slay her with thirst.

- Sinon, je la dépouille à nu, je la mets comme au jour de sa naissance, je la rends semblable à un désert, à une terre aride, et je la fais mourir de soif; (Ⅱ)

- ὅπως ἂν ἐκδύσω αὐτὴν γυμνὴν καὶ ἀποκαταστήσω αὐτὴν καθὼς ἡμέρα̨ γενέσεως αὐτη̃ς καὶ θήσομαι αὐτὴν ὡς ἔρημον καὶ τάξω αὐτὴν ὡς γη̃ν ἄνυδρον καὶ ἀποκτενω̃ αὐτὴν ἐν δίψει (Ⅲ)

- ne forte expoliem eam nudam,/ et statuam eam secundum diem nativitatis suæ,/ et ponam eam quasi solitudinem,/ et statuam eam velut terram inviam,/ et interficiam eam siti./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 5 ׃2 פן אפשיטנה ערמה והצגתיה כיום הולדה ושמתיה כמדבר ושתה כארץ ציה והמתיה בצמא ‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 4

And I will not have mercy upon her children; for they be the children of whoredoms.

- et je n'aurai pas pitié de ses enfants, car ce sont des enfants de prostitution. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ τὰ τέκνα αὐτη̃ς οὐ μὴ ἐλεήσω ὅτι τέκνα πορνείας ἐστίν (Ⅲ)

- Et filiorum illius non miserebor,/ quoniam filii fornicationum sunt./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 6 ׃2 ואת בניה לא ארחם כי בני זנונים המה ‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 5

For their mother hath played the harlot: she that conceived them hath done shamefully: for she said, I will go after my lovers, that give me my bread and my water, my wool and my flax, mine oil and my drink.

- Leur mère s'est prostituée, celle qui les a conçus s'est déshonorée, car elle a dit: J'irai après mes amants, qui me donnent mon pain et mon eau, ma laine et mon lin, mon huile et ma boisson. (Ⅱ)

- ὅτι ἐξεπόρνευσεν ἡ μήτηρ αὐτω̃ν κατή̨σχυνεν ἡ τεκου̃σα αὐτά εἰ̃πεν γάρ ἀκολουθήσω ὀπίσω τω̃ν ἐραστω̃ν μου τω̃ν διδόντων μοι τοὺς ἄρτους μου καὶ τὸ ὕδωρ μου καὶ τὰ ἱμάτιά μου καὶ τὰ ὀθόνιά μου καὶ τὸ ἔλαιόν μου καὶ πάντα ὅσα μοι καθήκει (Ⅲ)

- Quia fornicata est mater eorum,/ confusa est quæ concepit eos ;/ quia dixit : Vadam post amatores meos,/ qui dant panes mihi, et aquas meas,/ lanam meam, et linum meum,/ oleum meum, et potum meum./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 7 ׃2 כי זנתה אמם הבישה הורתם כי אמרה אלכה אחרי מאהבי נתני לחמי ומימי צמרי ופשתי שמני ושקויי ‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 6

Therefore, behold, I will hedge up thy way with thorns, and make a wall, that she shall not find her paths.

- C'est pourquoi voici, je vais fermer son chemin avec des épines et y élever un mur, afin qu'elle ne trouve plus ses sentiers. (Ⅱ)

- διὰ του̃το ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ φράσσω τὴν ὁδὸν αὐτη̃ς ἐν σκόλοψιν καὶ ἀνοικοδομήσω τὰς ὁδοὺς αὐτη̃ς καὶ τὴν τρίβον αὐτη̃ς οὐ μὴ εὕρη̨ (Ⅲ)

- Propter hoc ecce ego sepiam viam tuam spinis,/ et sepiam eam maceria, et semitas suas non inveniet./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 8 ׃2 לכן הנני שך את דרכך בסירים וגדרתי את גדרה ונתיבותיה לא תמצא ‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 7

And she shall follow after her lovers, but she shall not overtake them; and she shall seek them, but shall not find them: then shall she say, I will go and return to my first husband; for then was it better with me than now.

- Elle poursuivra ses amants, et ne les atteindra pas; elle les cherchera, et ne les trouvera pas. Puis elle dira: J'irai, et je retournerai vers mon premier mari, car alors j'étais plus heureuse que maintenant. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ καταδιώξεται τοὺς ἐραστὰς αὐτη̃ς καὶ οὐ μὴ καταλάβη̨ αὐτούς καὶ ζητήσει αὐτοὺς καὶ οὐ μὴ εὕρη̨ αὐτούς καὶ ἐρει̃ πορεύσομαι καὶ ἐπιστρέψω πρὸς τὸν ἄνδρα μου τὸν πρότερον ὅτι καλω̃ς μοι ἠ̃ν τότε ἢ νυ̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Et sequetur amatores suos, et non apprehendet eos ;/ et quæret eos, et non inveniet :/ et dicet : Vadam, et revertar ad virum meum priorem,/ quia bene mihi erat tunc magis quam nunc./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 9 ׃2 ורדפה את מאהביה ולא תשיג אתם ובקשתם ולא תמצא ואמרה אלכה ואשובה אל אישי הראשון כי טוב לי אז מעתה ‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 8

For she did not know that I gave her corn, and wine, and oil, and multiplied her silver and gold, which they prepared for Baal.

- Elle n'a pas reconnu que c'était moi qui lui donnais le blé, le moût et l'huile; et l'on a consacré au service de Baal l'argent et l'or que je lui prodiguais. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ αὐτὴ οὐκ ἔγνω ὅτι ἐγὼ δέδωκα αὐτη̨̃ τὸν σι̃τον καὶ τὸν οἰ̃νον καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον καὶ ἀργύριον ἐπλήθυνα αὐτη̨̃ αὐτὴ δὲ ἀργυρα̃ καὶ χρυσα̃ ἐποίησεν τη̨̃ Βααλ (Ⅲ)

- Et hæc nescivit, quia ego dedi ei frumentum, et vinum, et oleum,/ et argentum multiplicavi ei, et aurum,/ quæ fecerunt Baal./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 10 ׃2 והיא לא ידעה כי אנכי נתתי לה הדגן והתירוש והיצהר וכסף הרביתי לה וזהב עשו לבעל ‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 9

Therefore will I return, and take away my corn in the time thereof, and my wine in the season thereof, and will recover my wool and my flax given to cover her nakedness.

- C'est pourquoi je reprendrai mon blé en son temps et mon moût dans sa saison, et j'enlèverai ma laine et mon lin qui devaient couvrir sa nudité. (Ⅱ)

- διὰ του̃το ἐπιστρέψω καὶ κομιου̃μαι τὸν σι̃τόν μου καθ' ὥραν αὐτου̃ καὶ τὸν οἰ̃νόν μου ἐν καιρω̨̃ αὐτου̃ καὶ ἀφελου̃μαι τὰ ἱμάτιά μου καὶ τὰ ὀθόνιά μου του̃ μὴ καλύπτειν τὴν ἀσχημοσύνην αὐτη̃ς (Ⅲ)

- Idcirco convertar, et sumam frumentum meum in tempore suo,/ et vinum meum in tempore suo./ Et liberabo lanam meam et linum meum,/ quæ operiebant ignominiam ejus./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 11 ׃2 לכן אשוב ולקחתי דגני בעתו ותירושי במועדו והצלתי צמרי ופשתי לכסות את ערותה ‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 10

And now will I discover her lewdness in the sight of her lovers, and none shall deliver her out of mine hand.

- Et maintenant je découvrirai sa honte aux yeux de ses amants, et nul ne la délivrera de ma main. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ νυ̃ν ἀποκαλύψω τὴν ἀκαθαρσίαν αὐτη̃ς ἐνώπιον τω̃ν ἐραστω̃ν αὐτη̃ς καὶ οὐδεὶς οὐ μὴ ἐξέληται αὐτὴν ἐκ χειρός μου (Ⅲ)

- Et nunc revelabo stultitiam ejus in oculis amatorum ejus ;/ et vir non eruet eam de manu mea ;/ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 12 ׃2 ועתה אגלה את נבלתה לעיני מאהביה ואיש לא יצילנה מידי ‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 11

I will also cause all her mirth to cease, her feast days, her new moons, and her sabbaths, and all her solemn feasts.

- Je ferai cesser toute sa joie, ses fêtes, ses nouvelles lunes, ses sabbats et toutes ses solennités. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀποστρέψω πάσας τὰς εὐφροσύνας αὐτη̃ς ἑορτὰς αὐτη̃ς καὶ τὰς νουμηνίας αὐτη̃ς καὶ τὰ σάββατα αὐτη̃ς καὶ πάσας τὰς πανηγύρεις αὐτη̃ς (Ⅲ)

- et cessare faciam omne gaudium ejus,/ solemnitatem ejus, neomeniam ejus, sabbatum ejus,/ et omnia festa tempora ejus./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 13 ׃2 והשבתי כל משושה חגה חדשה ושבתה וכל מועדה ‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 12

And I will destroy her vines and her fig trees, whereof she hath said, These are my rewards that my lovers have given me: and I will make them a forest, and the beasts of the field shall eat them.

- Je ravagerai ses vignes et ses figuiers, dont elle disait: C'est le salaire que m'ont donné mes amants! Je les réduirai en une forêt, et les bêtes des champs les dévoreront. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀφανιω̃ ἄμπελον αὐτη̃ς καὶ τὰς συκα̃ς αὐτη̃ς ὅσα εἰ̃πεν μισθώματά μου ταυ̃τά ἐστιν ἃ ἔδωκάν μοι οἱ ἐρασταί μου καὶ θήσομαι αὐτὰ εἰς μαρτύριον καὶ καταφάγεται αὐτὰ τὰ θηρία του̃ ἀγρου̃ καὶ τὰ πετεινὰ του̃ οὐρανου̃ καὶ τὰ ἑρπετὰ τη̃ς γη̃ς (Ⅲ)

- Et corrumpam vineam ejus, et ficum ejus,/ de quibus dixit : Mercedes hæ meæ sunt,/ quas dederunt mihi amatores mei ;/ et ponam eam in saltum,/ et comedet eam bestia agri./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 14 ׃2 והשמתי גפנה ותאנתה אשר אמרה אתנה המה לי אשר נתנו לי מאהבי ושמתים ליער ואכלתם חית השדה ‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 13

And I will visit upon her the days of Baalim, wherein she burned incense to them, and she decked herself with her earrings and her jewels, and she went after her lovers, and forgat me, saith the LORD.

- Je la châtierai pour les jours où elle encensait les Baals, où elle se paraît de ses anneaux et de ses colliers, allait après ses amants, et m'oubliait, dit l'Éternel. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐκδικήσω ἐπ' αὐτὴν τὰς ἡμέρας τω̃ν Βααλιμ ἐν αἱ̃ς ἐπέθυεν αὐτοι̃ς καὶ περιετίθετο τὰ ἐνώτια αὐτη̃ς καὶ τὰ καθόρμια αὐτη̃ς καὶ ἐπορεύετο ὀπίσω τω̃ν ἐραστω̃ν αὐτη̃ς ἐμου̃ δὲ ἐπελάθετο λέγει κύριος (Ⅲ)

- Et visitabo super eam dies Baalim,/ quibus accendebat incensum,/ et ornabatur in aure sua, et monili suo./ Et ibat post amatores suos,/ et mei obliviscebatur, dicit Dominus./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 15 ׃2 ופקדתי עליה את ימי הבעלים אשר תקטיר להם ותעד נזמה וחליתה ותלך אחרי מאהביה ואתי שכחה נאם יהוה פ‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 14

Therefore, behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak comfortably unto her.

- C'est pourquoi voici, je veux l'attirer et la conduire au désert, et je parlerai à son coeur. (Ⅱ)

- διὰ του̃το ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ πλανω̃ αὐτὴν καὶ τάξω αὐτὴν εἰς ἔρημον καὶ λαλήσω ἐπὶ τὴν καρδίαν αὐτη̃ς (Ⅲ)

- Propter hoc ecce ego lactabo eam,/ et ducam eam in solitudinem,/ et loquar ad cor ejus./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 16 ׃2 לכן הנה אנכי מפתיה והלכתיה המדבר ודברתי על‪[Q]‬‪[n]‬‪[p]‬ לבה ‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 15

And I will give her her vineyards from thence, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope: and she shall sing there, as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt.

- Là, je lui donnerai ses vignes et la vallée d'Acor, comme une porte d'espérance, et là, elle chantera comme au temps de sa jeunesse, et comme au jour où elle remonta du pays d'Égypte. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ δώσω αὐτη̨̃ τὰ κτήματα αὐτη̃ς ἐκει̃θεν καὶ τὴν κοιλάδα Αχωρ διανοι̃ξαι σύνεσιν αὐτη̃ς καὶ ταπεινωθήσεται ἐκει̃ κατὰ τὰς ἡμέρας νηπιότητος αὐτη̃ς καὶ κατὰ τὰς ἡμέρας ἀναβάσεως αὐτη̃ς ἐκ γη̃ς Αἰγύπτου (Ⅲ)

- Et dabo ei vinitores ejus ex eodem loco,/ et vallem Achor, ad aperiendam spem ;/ et canet ibi juxta dies juventutis suæ,/ et juxta dies ascensionis suæ de terra Ægypti./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 17 ׃2 ונתתי לה את כרמיה משם ואת עמק עכור לפתח תקוה וענתה שמה כימי נעוריה וכיום‪[U]‬ עלתה מארץ מצרים ס‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 16

And it shall be at that day, saith the LORD, that thou shalt call me Ishi; and shalt call me no more Baali.

- En ce jour-là, dit l'Éternel, tu m'appelleras: Mon mari! et tu ne m'appelleras plus: Mon maître! (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἔσται ἐν ἐκείνη̨ τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ λέγει κύριος καλέσει με ὁ ἀνήρ μου καὶ οὐ καλέσει με ἔτι Βααλιμ (Ⅲ)

- Et erit in die illa, ait Dominus :/ vocabit me, Vir meus,/ et non vocabit me ultra Baali./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 18 ׃2 והיה ביום ההוא נאם יהוה תקראי אישי ולא תקראי לי עוד בעלי ‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 17

For I will take away the names of Baalim out of her mouth, and they shall no more be remembered by their name.

- J'ôterai de sa bouche les noms des Baals, afin qu'on ne les mentionne plus par leurs noms. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐξαρω̃ τὰ ὀνόματα τω̃ν Βααλιμ ἐκ στόματος αὐτη̃ς καὶ οὐ μὴ μνησθω̃σιν οὐκέτι τὰ ὀνόματα αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Et auferam nomina Baalim de ore ejus,/ et non recordabitur ultra nominis eorum./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 19 ׃2 והסרתי את שמות הבעלים מפיה ולא יזכרו עוד בשמם ‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 18

And in that day will I make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field and with the fowls of heaven, and with the creeping things of the ground: and I will break the bow and the sword and the battle out of the earth, and will make them to lie down safely.

- En ce jour-là, je traiterai pour eux une alliance avec les bêtes des champs, les oiseaux du ciel et les reptiles de la terre, je briserai dans le pays l'arc, l'épée et la guerre, et je les ferai reposer avec sécurité. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ διαθήσομαι αὐτοι̃ς ἐν ἐκείνη̨ τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ διαθήκην μετὰ τω̃ν θηρίων του̃ ἀγρου̃ καὶ μετὰ τω̃ν πετεινω̃ν του̃ οὐρανου̃ καὶ μετὰ τω̃ν ἑρπετω̃ν τη̃ς γη̃ς καὶ τόξον καὶ ῥομφαίαν καὶ πόλεμον συντρίψω ἀπὸ τη̃ς γη̃ς καὶ κατοικιω̃ σε ἐπ' ἐλπίδι (Ⅲ)

- Et percutiam cum eis fœdus in die illa, cum bestia agri,/ et cum volucre cæli, et cum reptili terræ ;/ et arcum, et gladium, et bellum conteram de terra,/ et dormire eos faciam fiducialiter./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 20 ׃2 וכרתי להם ברית ביום ההוא עם חית השדה ועם עוף השמים ורמש האדמה וקשת וחרב ומלחמה אשבור מן הארץ והשכבתים לבטח ‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 19

And I will betroth thee unto me for ever; yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness, and in judgment, and in lovingkindness, and in mercies.

- Je serai ton fiancé pour toujours; je serai ton fiancé par la justice, la droiture, la grâce et la miséricorde; (Ⅱ)

- καὶ μνηστεύσομαί σε ἐμαυτω̨̃ εἰς τὸν αἰω̃να καὶ μνηστεύσομαί σε ἐμαυτω̨̃ ἐν δικαιοσύνη̨ καὶ ἐν κρίματι καὶ ἐν ἐλέει καὶ ἐν οἰκτιρμοι̃ς (Ⅲ)

- Et sponsabo te mihi in sempiternum ;/ et sponsabo te mihi in justitia, et judicio,/ et in misericordia, et in miserationibus./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 21 ׃2 וארשתיך לי לעולם וארשתיך לי בצדק ובמשפט ובחסד וברחמים ‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 20

I will even betroth thee unto me in faithfulness: and thou shalt know the LORD.

- je serai ton fiancé par la fidélité, et tu reconnaîtras l'Éternel. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ μνηστεύσομαί σε ἐμαυτω̨̃ ἐν πίστει καὶ ἐπιγνώση̨ τὸν κύριον (Ⅲ)

- Et sponsabo te mihi in fide ;/ et scies quia ego Dominus./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 22 ׃2 וארשתיך לי באמונה וידעת את יהוה ס‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 21

And it shall come to pass in that day, I will hear, saith the LORD, I will hear the heavens, and they shall hear the earth;

- En ce jour-là, j'exaucerai, dit l'Éternel, j'exaucerai les cieux, et ils exauceront la terre; (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἔσται ἐν ἐκείνη̨ τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ λέγει κύριος ἐπακούσομαι τω̨̃ οὐρανω̨̃ καὶ ὁ οὐρανὸς ἐπακούσεται τη̨̃ γη̨̃ (Ⅲ)

- Et erit in die illa :/ exaudiam, dicit Dominus, exaudiam cælos,/ et illi exaudient terram./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 23 ׃2 והיה ביום ההוא אענה נאם יהוה אענה את השמים והם יענו את הארץ ‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 22

And the earth shall hear the corn, and the wine, and the oil; and they shall hear Jezreel.

- la terre exaucera le blé, le moût et l'huile, et ils exauceront Jizreel. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἡ γη̃ ἐπακούσεται τὸν σι̃τον καὶ τὸν οἰ̃νον καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον καὶ αὐτὰ ἐπακούσεται τω̨̃ Ιεζραελ (Ⅲ)

- Et terra exaudiet triticum, et vinum, et oleum,/ et hæc exaudient Jezrahel./ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 24 ׃2 והארץ תענה את הדגן ואת התירוש ואת היצהר והם יענו את יזרעאל ‬ (Ⅴ)

2. 23

And I will sow her unto me in the earth; and I will have mercy upon her that had not obtained mercy; and I will say to them which were not my people, Thou art my people; and they shall say, Thou art my God.

- Je planterai pour moi Lo Ruchama dans le pays, et je lui ferai miséricorde; je dirai à Lo Ammi: Tu es mon peuple! et il répondra: Mon Dieu! (Ⅱ)

- καὶ σπερω̃ αὐτὴν ἐμαυτω̨̃ ἐπὶ τη̃ς γη̃ς καὶ ἐλεήσω τὴν Οὐκ-ἠλεημένην καὶ ἐρω̃ τω̨̃ Οὐ-λαω̨̃-μου λαός μου εἰ̃ σύ καὶ αὐτὸς ἐρει̃ κύριος ὁ θεός μου εἰ̃ σύ (Ⅲ)

- Et seminabo eam mihi in terra,/ et miserebor ejus quæ fuit Absque misericordia./ (2:24 ) Et dicam Non populo meo : Populus meus es tu ;/ et ipse dicet : Deus meus es tu. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 25 ׃2 וזרעתיה לי בארץ ורחמתי את לא רחמה ואמרתי ללא עמי עמי אתה והוא יאמר אלהי פ‬ (Ⅴ)
