14. 1

And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night.

- Toute l'assemblée éleva la voix et poussa des cris, et le peuple pleura pendant la nuit. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀναλαβου̃σα πα̃σα ἡ συναγωγὴ ἔδωκεν φωνήν καὶ ἔκλαιεν ὁ λαὸς ὅλην τὴν νύκτα ἐκείνην (Ⅲ)

- Igitur vociferans omnis turba flevit nocte illa, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 1 ׃14 ותשא כל העדה ויתנו את קולם ויבכו העם בלילה ההוא ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 2

And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness!

- Tous les enfants d'Israël murmurèrent contre Moïse et Aaron, et toute l'assemblée leur dit: Que ne sommes-nous morts dans le pays d'Égypte, ou que ne sommes-nous morts dans ce désert! (Ⅱ)

- καὶ διεγόγγυζον ἐπὶ Μωυση̃ν καὶ Ααρων πάντες οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ καὶ εἰ̃παν πρὸς αὐτοὺς πα̃σα ἡ συναγωγή ὄφελον ἀπεθάνομεν ἐν γη̨̃ Αἰγύπτω̨ ἢ ἐν τη̨̃ ἐρήμω̨ ταύτη̨ εἰ ἀπεθάνομεν (Ⅲ)

- et murmurati sunt contra Moysen et Aaron cuncti filii Israël, dicentes : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 2 ׃14 וילנו על משה ועל אהרן כל בני ישראל ויאמרו אלהם כל העדה לו מתנו בארץ מצרים או במדבר הזה לו מתנו ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 3

And wherefore hath the LORD brought us unto this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? were it not better for us to return into Egypt?

- Pourquoi l'Éternel nous fait-il aller dans ce pays, où nous tomberons par l'épée, où nos femmes et nos petits enfants deviendront une proie? Ne vaut-il pas mieux pour nous retourner en Égypte? (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἵνα τί κύριος εἰσάγει ἡμα̃ς εἰς τὴν γη̃ν ταύτην πεσει̃ν ἐν πολέμω̨ αἱ γυναι̃κες ἡμω̃ν καὶ τὰ παιδία ἔσονται εἰς διαρπαγήν νυ̃ν οὐ̃ν βέλτιον ἡμι̃ν ἐστιν ἀποστραφη̃ναι εἰς Αἴγυπτον (Ⅲ)

- Utinam mortui essemus in Ægypto : et in hac vasta solitudine utinam pereamus, et non inducat nos Dominus in terram istam, ne cadamus gladio, et uxores ac liberi nostri ducantur captivi. Nonne melius est reverti in Ægyptum ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 3 ׃14 ולמה יהוה מביא אתנו אל הארץ הזאת לנפל בחרב נשינו וטפנו יהיו לבז הלוא טוב לנו שוב מצרימה ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 4

And they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt.

- Et ils se dirent l'un à l'autre: Nommons un chef, et retournons en Égypte. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃παν ἕτερος τω̨̃ ἑτέρω̨ δω̃μεν ἀρχηγὸν καὶ ἀποστρέψωμεν εἰς Αἴγυπτον (Ⅲ)

- Dixeruntque alter ad alterum : Constituamus nobis ducem, et revertamur in Ægyptum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 4 ׃14 ויאמרו איש אל אחיו נתנה ראש ונשובה מצרימה ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 5

Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the children of Israel.

- Moïse et Aaron tombèrent sur leur visage, en présence de toute l'assemblée réunie des enfants d'Israël. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἔπεσεν Μωυση̃ς καὶ Ααρων ἐπὶ πρόσωπον ἐναντίον πάσης συναγωγη̃ς υἱω̃ν Ισραηλ (Ⅲ)

- Quo audito, Moyses et Aaron ceciderunt proni in terram coram omni multitudine filiorum Israël. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 5 ׃14 ויפל משה ואהרן על פניהם לפני כל קהל עדת בני ישראל ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 6

And Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of them that searched the land, rent their clothes:

- Et, parmi ceux qui avaient exploré le pays, Josué, fils de Nun, et Caleb, fils de Jephunné, déchirèrent leurs vêtements, (Ⅱ)

- 'Ιησου̃ς δὲ ὁ του̃ Ναυη καὶ Χαλεβ ὁ του̃ Ιεφοννη τω̃ν κατασκεψαμένων τὴν γη̃ν διέρρηξαν τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- At vero Josue filius Nun et Caleb filius Jephone, qui et ipsi lustraverant terram, sciderunt vestimenta sua, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 6 ׃14 ויהושע בן נון וכלב בן יפנה מן התרים את הארץ קרעו בגדיהם ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 7

And they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land.

- et parlèrent ainsi à toute l'assemblée des enfants d'Israël: Le pays que nous avons parcouru, pour l'explorer, est un pays très bon, excellent. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃παν πρὸς πα̃σαν συναγωγὴν υἱω̃ν Ισραηλ λέγοντες ἡ γη̃ ἣν κατεσκεψάμεθα αὐτήν ἀγαθή ἐστιν σφόδρα σφόδρα (Ⅲ)

- et ad omnem multitudinem filiorum Israël locuti sunt : Terra, quam circuivimus, valde bona est. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 7 ׃14 ויאמרו אל כל עדת בני ישראל לאמר הארץ אשר עברנו בה לתור אתה טובה הארץ מאד מאד ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 8

If the LORD delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey.

- Si l'Éternel nous est favorable, il nous mènera dans ce pays, et nous le donnera: c'est un pays où coulent le lait et le miel. (Ⅱ)

- εἰ αἱρετίζει ἡμα̃ς κύριος εἰσάξει ἡμα̃ς εἰς τὴν γη̃ν ταύτην καὶ δώσει αὐτὴν ἡμι̃ν γη̃ ἥτις ἐστὶν ῥέουσα γάλα καὶ μέλι (Ⅲ)

- Si propitius fuerit Dominus, inducet nos in eam, et tradet humum lacte et melle manantem. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 8 ׃14 אם חפץ בנו יהוה והביא אתנו אל הארץ הזאת ונתנה לנו ארץ אשר הוא זבת חלב ודבש ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 9

Only rebel not ye against the LORD, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defense is departed from them, and the LORD is with us: fear them not.

- Seulement, ne soyez point rebelles contre l'Éternel, et ne craignez point les gens de ce pays, car ils nous serviront de pâture, ils n'ont plus d'ombrage pour les couvrir, l'Éternel est avec nous, ne les craignez point! (Ⅱ)

- ἀλλὰ ἀπὸ του̃ κυρίου μὴ ἀποστάται γίνεσθε ὑμει̃ς δὲ μὴ φοβηθη̃τε τὸν λαὸν τη̃ς γη̃ς ὅτι κατάβρωμα ἡμι̃ν ἐστιν ἀφέστηκεν γὰρ ὁ καιρὸς ἀπ' αὐτω̃ν ὁ δὲ κύριος ἐν ἡμι̃ν μὴ φοβηθη̃τε αὐτούς (Ⅲ)

- Nolite rebelles esse contra Dominum : neque timeatis populum terræ hujus, quia sicut panem ita eos possumus devorare. Recessit ab eis omne præsidium : Dominus nobiscum est, nolite metuere. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 9 ׃14 אך ביהוה אל תמרדו ואתם אל תיראו את עם הארץ כי לחמנו הם סר צלם מעליהם ויהוה אתנו אל תיראם ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 10

But all the congregation bade stone them with stones. And the glory of the LORD appeared in the tabernacle of the congregation before all the children of Israel.

- Toute l'assemblée parlait de les lapider, lorsque la gloire de l'Éternel apparut sur la tente d'assignation, devant tous les enfants d'Israël. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν πα̃σα ἡ συναγωγὴ καταλιθοβολη̃σαι αὐτοὺς ἐν λίθοις καὶ ἡ δόξα κυρίου ὤφθη ἐν νεφέλη̨ ἐπὶ τη̃ς σκηνη̃ς του̃ μαρτυρίου ἐν πα̃σι τοι̃ς υἱοι̃ς Ισραηλ (Ⅲ)

- Cumque clamaret omnis multitudo, et lapidibus eos vellet opprimere, apparuit gloria Domini super tectum fœderis cunctis filiis Israël.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 10 ׃14 ויאמרו כל העדה לרגום אתם באבנים וכבוד יהוה נראה באהל מועד אל כל בני ישראל פ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 11

And the LORD said unto Moses, How long will this people provoke me? and how long will it be ere they believe me, for all the signs which I have showed among them?

- Et l'Éternel dit à Moïse: Jusqu'à quand ce peuple me méprisera-t-il? Jusqu'à quand ne croira-t-il pas en moi, malgré tous les prodiges que j'ai faits au milieu de lui? (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν κύριος πρὸς Μωυση̃ν ἕως τίνος παροξύνει με ὁ λαὸς οὑ̃τος καὶ ἕως τίνος οὐ πιστεύουσίν μοι ἐν πα̃σιν τοι̃ς σημείοις οἱ̃ς ἐποίησα ἐν αὐτοι̃ς (Ⅲ)

- Et dixit Dominus ad Moysen : Usquequo detrahet mihi populus iste ? quousque non credent mihi, in omnibus signis quæ feci coram eis ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 11 ׃14 ויאמר יהוה אל משה עד אנה ינאצני העם הזה ועד אנה לא יאמינו בי בכל האתות אשר עשיתי בקרבו ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 12

I will smite them with the pestilence, and disinherit them, and will make of thee a greater nation and mightier than they.

- Je le frapperai par la peste, et je le détruirai; mais je ferai de toi une nation plus grande et plus puissante que lui. (Ⅱ)

- πατάξω αὐτοὺς θανάτω̨ καὶ ἀπολω̃ αὐτοὺς καὶ ποιήσω σὲ καὶ τὸν οἰ̃κον του̃ πατρός σου εἰς ἔθνος μέγα καὶ πολὺ μα̃λλον ἢ του̃το (Ⅲ)

- Feriam igitur eos pestilentia, atque consumam : te autem faciam principem super gentem magnam, et fortiorem quam hæc est. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 12 ׃14 אכנו בדבר ואורשנו ואעשה אתך לגוי גדול ועצום ממנו ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 13

And Moses said unto the LORD, Then the Egyptians shall hear it, (for thou broughtest up this people in thy might from among them;)

- Moïse dit à l'Éternel: Les Égyptiens l'apprendront, eux du milieu desquels tu as fait monter ce peuple par ta puissance, (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Μωυση̃ς πρὸς κύριον καὶ ἀκούσεται Αἴγυπτος ὅτι ἀνήγαγες τη̨̃ ἰσχύι σου τὸν λαὸν του̃τον ἐξ αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Et ait Moyses ad Dominum : Ut audiant Ægyptii, de quorum medio eduxisti populum istum, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 13 ׃14 ויאמר משה אל יהוה ושמעו מצרים כי העלית בכחך את העם הזה מקרבו ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 14

And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land: for they have heard that thou LORD art among this people, that thou LORD art seen face to face, and that thy cloud standeth over them, and that thou goest before them, by day time in a pillar of a cloud, and in a pillar of fire by night.

- et ils le diront aux habitants de ce pays. Ils savaient que toi, l'Éternel, tu es au milieu de ce peuple; que tu apparais visiblement, toi, l'Éternel; que ta nuée se tient sur lui; que tu marches devant lui le jour dans une colonne de nuée, et la nuit dans une colonne de feu. (Ⅱ)

- ἀλλὰ καὶ πάντες οἱ κατοικου̃ντες ἐπὶ τη̃ς γη̃ς ταύτης ἀκηκόασιν ὅτι σὺ εἰ̃ κύριος ἐν τω̨̃ λαω̨̃ τούτω̨ ὅστις ὀφθαλμοι̃ς κατ' ὀφθαλμοὺς ὀπτάζη̨ κύριε καὶ ἡ νεφέλη σου ἐφέστηκεν ἐπ' αὐτω̃ν καὶ ἐν στύλω̨ νεφέλης σὺ πορεύη̨ πρότερος αὐτω̃ν τὴν ἡμέραν καὶ ἐν στύλω̨ πυρὸς τὴν νύκτα (Ⅲ)

- et habitatores terræ hujus, qui audierunt quod tu, Domine, in populo isto sis, et facie videaris ad faciem, et nubes tua protegat illos, et in columna nubis præcedas eos per diem, et in columna ignis per noctem : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 14 ׃14 ואמרו אל יושב הארץ הזאת שמעו כי אתה יהוה בקרב העם הזה אשר עין בעין נראה אתה יהוה ועננך עמד עלהם ובעמד ענן אתה הלך לפניהם יומם ובעמוד אש לילה ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 15

Now if thou shalt kill all this people as one man, then the nations which have heard the fame of thee will speak, saying,

- Si tu fais mourir ce peuple comme un seul homme, les nations qui ont entendu parler de toi diront: (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐκτρίψεις τὸν λαὸν του̃τον ὡσεὶ ἄνθρωπον ἕνα καὶ ἐρου̃σιν τὰ ἔθνη ὅσοι ἀκηκόασιν τὸ ὄνομά σου λέγοντες (Ⅲ)

- quod occideris tantam multitudinem quasi unum hominem, et dicant : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 15 ׃14 והמתה את העם הזה כאיש אחד ואמרו הגוים אשר שמעו את שמעך לאמר ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 16

Because the LORD was not able to bring this people into the land which he sware unto them, therefore he hath slain them in the wilderness.

- L'Éternel n'avait pas le pouvoir de mener ce peuple dans le pays qu'il avait juré de lui donner: c'est pour cela qu'il l'a égorgé dans le désert. (Ⅱ)

- παρὰ τὸ μὴ δύνασθαι κύριον εἰσαγαγει̃ν τὸν λαὸν του̃τον εἰς τὴν γη̃ν ἣν ὤμοσεν αὐτοι̃ς κατέστρωσεν αὐτοὺς ἐν τη̨̃ ἐρήμω̨ (Ⅲ)

- Non poterat introducere populum in terram pro qua juraverat : idcirco occidit eos in solitudine ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 16 ׃14 מבלתי יכלת יהוה להביא את העם הזה אל הארץ אשר נשבע להם וישחטם במדבר ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 17

And now, I beseech thee, let the power of my Lord be great, according as thou hast spoken, saying,

- Maintenant, que la puissance du Seigneur se montre dans sa grandeur, comme tu l'as déclaré en disant: (Ⅱ)

- καὶ νυ̃ν ὑψωθήτω ἡ ἰσχύς σου κύριε ὃν τρόπον εἰ̃πας λέγων (Ⅲ)

- Magnificetur ergo fortitudo Domini sicut jurasti, dicens : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 17 ׃14 ועתה יגדל נא כח אדני כאשר דברת לאמר ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 18

The LORD is long-suffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation.

- L'Éternel est lent à la colère et riche en bonté, il pardonne l'iniquité et la rébellion; mais il ne tient point le coupable pour innocent, et il punit l'iniquité des pères sur les enfants jusqu'à la troisième et la quatrième génération. (Ⅱ)

- κύριος μακρόθυμος καὶ πολυέλεος καὶ ἀληθινός ἀφαιρω̃ν ἀνομίας καὶ ἀδικίας καὶ ἁμαρτίας καὶ καθαρισμω̨̃ οὐ καθαριει̃ τὸν ἔνοχον ἀποδιδοὺς ἁμαρτίας πατέρων ἐπὶ τέκνα ἕως τρίτης καὶ τετάρτης (Ⅲ)

- Dominus patiens et multæ misericordiæ, auferens iniquitatem et scelera, nullumque innoxium derelinquens, qui visitas peccata patrum in filios in tertiam et quartam generationem. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 18 ׃14 יהוה ארך אפים ורב חסד נשא עון ופשע ונקה לא ינקה פקד עון אבות על בנים על שלשים ועל רבעים ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 19

Pardon, I beseech thee, the iniquity of this people according unto the greatness of thy mercy, and as thou hast forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now.

- Pardonne l'iniquité de ce peuple, selon la grandeur de ta miséricorde, comme tu as pardonné à ce peuple depuis l'Égypte jusqu'ici. (Ⅱ)

- ἄφες τὴν ἁμαρτίαν τω̨̃ λαω̨̃ τούτω̨ κατὰ τὸ μέγα ἔλεός σου καθάπερ ἵλεως αὐτοι̃ς ἐγένου ἀπ' Αἰγύπτου ἕως του̃ νυ̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Dimitte, obsecro, peccatum populi hujus secundum magnitudinem misericordiæ tuæ, sicut propitius fuisti egredientibus de Ægypto usque ad locum istum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 19 ׃14 סלח נא לעון העם הזה כגדל חסדך וכאשר נשאתה לעם הזה ממצרים ועד הנה ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 20

And the LORD said, I have pardoned according to thy word:

- Et l'Éternel dit: Je pardonne, comme tu l'as demandé. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν κύριος πρὸς Μωυση̃ν ἵλεως αὐτοι̃ς εἰμι κατὰ τὸ ῥη̃μά σου (Ⅲ)

- Dixitque Dominus : Dimisi juxta verbum tuum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 20 ׃14 ויאמר יהוה סלחתי כדברך ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 21

But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD.

- Mais, je suis vivant! et la gloire de l'Éternel remplira toute la terre. (Ⅱ)

- ἀλλὰ ζω̃ ἐγὼ καὶ ζω̃ν τὸ ὄνομά μου καὶ ἐμπλήσει ἡ δόξα κυρίου πα̃σαν τὴν γη̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Vivo ego : et implebitur gloria Domini universa terra. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 21 ׃14 ואולם חי אני וימלא כבוד יהוה את כל הארץ ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 22

Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice;

- Tous ceux qui ont vu ma gloire, et les prodiges que j'ai faits en Égypte et dans le désert, qui m'ont tenté déjà dix fois, et qui n'ont point écouté ma voix, (Ⅱ)

- ὅτι πάντες οἱ ἄνδρες οἱ ὁρω̃ντες τὴν δόξαν μου καὶ τὰ σημει̃α ἃ ἐποίησα ἐν Αἰγύπτω̨ καὶ ἐν τη̨̃ ἐρήμω̨ ταύτη̨ καὶ ἐπείρασάν με του̃το δέκατον καὶ οὐκ εἰσήκουσάν μου τη̃ς φωνη̃ς (Ⅲ)

- Attamen omnes homines qui viderunt majestatem meam, et signa quæ feci in Ægypto et in solitudine, et tentaverunt me jam per decem vices, nec obedierunt voci meæ, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 22 ׃14 כי כל האנשים הראים את כבדי ואת אתתי אשר עשיתי במצרים ובמדבר וינסו אתי זה עשר פעמים ולא שמעו בקולי ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 23

Surely they shall not see the land which I sware unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that provoked me see it:

- tous ceux-là ne verront point le pays que j'ai juré à leurs pères de leur donner, tous ceux qui m'ont méprisé ne le verront point. (Ⅱ)

- ἠ̃ μὴν οὐκ ὄψονται τὴν γη̃ν ἣν ὤμοσα τοι̃ς πατράσιν αὐτω̃ν ἀλλ' ἢ τὰ τέκνα αὐτω̃ν ἅ ἐστιν μετ' ἐμου̃ ὡ̃δε ὅσοι οὐκ οἴδασιν ἀγαθὸν οὐδὲ κακόν πα̃ς νεώτερος ἄπειρος τούτοις δώσω τὴν γη̃ν πάντες δὲ οἱ παροξύναντές με οὐκ ὄψονται αὐτήν (Ⅲ)

- non videbunt terram pro qua juravi patribus eorum, nec quisquam ex illis qui detraxit mihi, intuebitur eam. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 23 ׃14 אם יראו את הארץ אשר נשבעתי לאבתם וכל מנאצי לא יראוה ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 24

But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.

- Et parce que mon serviteur Caleb a été animé d'un autre esprit, et qu'il a pleinement suivi ma voie, je le ferai entrer dans le pays où il est allé, et ses descendants le posséderont. (Ⅱ)

- ὁ δὲ παι̃ς μου Χαλεβ ὅτι ἐγενήθη πνευ̃μα ἕτερον ἐν αὐτω̨̃ καὶ ἐπηκολούθησέν μοι εἰσάξω αὐτὸν εἰς τὴν γη̃ν εἰς ἣν εἰση̃λθεν ἐκει̃ καὶ τὸ σπέρμα αὐτου̃ κληρονομήσει αὐτήν (Ⅲ)

- Servum meum Caleb, qui plenus alio spiritu secutus est me, inducam in terram hanc, quam circuivit ; et semen ejus possidebit eam. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 24 ׃14 ועבדי כלב עקב היתה רוח אחרת עמו וימלא אחרי והביאתיו אל הארץ אשר בא שמה וזרעו יורשנה ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 25

(Now the Amalekites and the Canaanites dwelt in the valley.) Tomorrow turn you, and get you into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea.

- Les Amalécites et les Cananéens habitent la vallée: demain, tournez-vous, et partez pour le désert, dans la direction de la mer Rouge. (Ⅱ)

- ὁ δὲ Αμαληκ καὶ ὁ Χαναναι̃ος κατοικου̃σιν ἐν τη̨̃ κοιλάδι αὔριον ἐπιστράφητε ὑμει̃ς καὶ ἀπάρατε εἰς τὴν ἔρημον ὁδὸν θάλασσαν ἐρυθράν (Ⅲ)

- Quoniam Amalecites et Chananæus habitant in vallibus. Cras movete castra, et revertimini in solitudinem per viam maris Rubri. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 25 ׃14 והעמלקי והכנעני יושב בעמק מחר פנו וסעו לכם המדבר דרך ים סוף פ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 26

And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,

- L'Éternel parla à Moïse et à Aaron, et dit: (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν κύριος πρὸς Μωυση̃ν καὶ Ααρων λέγων (Ⅲ)

- Locutusque est Dominus ad Moysen et Aaron, dicens : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 26 ׃14 וידבר יהוה אל משה ואל אהרן לאמר ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 27

How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me.

- Jusqu'à quand laisserai-je cette méchante assemblée murmurer contre moi? J'ai entendu les murmures des enfants d'Israël qui murmuraient contre moi. (Ⅱ)

- ἕως τίνος τὴν συναγωγὴν τὴν πονηρὰν ταύτην ἃ αὐτοὶ γογγύζουσιν ἐναντίον ἐμου̃ τὴν γόγγυσιν τω̃ν υἱω̃ν Ισραηλ ἣν ἐγόγγυσαν περὶ ὑμω̃ν ἀκήκοα (Ⅲ)

- Usquequo multitudo hæc pessima murmurat contra me ? querelas filiorum Israël audivi. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 27 ׃14 עד מתי לעדה הרעה הזאת אשר המה מלינים עלי את תלנות בני ישראל אשר המה מלינים עלי שמעתי ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 28

Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the LORD, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you:

- Dis-leur: Je suis vivant! dit l'Éternel, je vous ferai ainsi que vous avez parlé à mes oreilles. (Ⅱ)

- εἰπὸν αὐτοι̃ς ζω̃ ἐγώ λέγει κύριος ἠ̃ μὴν ὃν τρόπον λελαλήκατε εἰς τὰ ὠ̃τά μου οὕτως ποιήσω ὑμι̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Dic ergo eis : Vivo ego, ait Dominus : sicut locuti estis audiente me, sic faciam vobis. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 28 ׃14 אמר אלהם חי אני נאם יהוה אם לא כאשר דברתם באזני כן אעשה לכם ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 29

Your carcasses shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward which have murmured against me.

- Vos cadavres tomberont dans ce désert. Vous tous, dont on a fait le dénombrement, en vous comptant depuis l'âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, et qui avez murmuré contre moi, (Ⅱ)

- ἐν τη̨̃ ἐρήμω̨ ταύτη̨ πεσει̃ται τὰ κω̃λα ὑμω̃ν καὶ πα̃σα ἡ ἐπισκοπὴ ὑμω̃ν καὶ οἱ κατηριθμημένοι ὑμω̃ν ἀπὸ εἰκοσαετου̃ς καὶ ἐπάνω ὅσοι ἐγόγγυσαν ἐπ' ἐμοί (Ⅲ)

- In solitudine hac jacebunt cadavera vestra. Omnes qui numerati estis a viginti annis et supra, et murmurastis contra me, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 29 ׃14 במדבר הזה יפלו פגריכם וכל פקדיכם לכל מספרכם מבן עשרים שנה ומעלה אשר הלינתם עלי ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 30

Doubtless ye shall not come into the land, concerning which I sware to make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.

- vous n'entrerez point dans le pays que j'avais juré de vous faire habiter, excepté Caleb, fils de Jephunné, et Josué, fils de Nun. (Ⅱ)

- εἰ ὑμει̃ς εἰσελεύσεσθε εἰς τὴν γη̃ν ἐφ' ἣν ἐξέτεινα τὴν χει̃ρά μου κατασκηνω̃σαι ὑμα̃ς ἐπ' αὐτη̃ς ἀλλ' ἢ Χαλεβ υἱὸς Ιεφοννη καὶ 'Ιησου̃ς ὁ του̃ Ναυη (Ⅲ)

- non intrabitis terram, super quam levavi manum meam ut habitare vos facerem, præter Caleb filium Jephone, et Josue filium Nun. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 30 ׃14 אם אתם תבאו אל הארץ אשר נשאתי את ידי לשכן אתכם בה כי אם כלב בן יפנה ויהושע בן נון ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 31

But your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, them will I bring in, and they shall know the land which ye have despised.

- Et vos petits enfants, dont vous avez dit: Ils deviendront une proie! je les y ferai entrer, et ils connaîtront le pays que vous avez dédaigné. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ τὰ παιδία ἃ εἴπατε ἐν διαρπαγη̨̃ ἔσεσθαι εἰσάξω αὐτοὺς εἰς τὴν γη̃ν καὶ κληρονομήσουσιν τὴν γη̃ν ἣν ὑμει̃ς ἀπέστητε ἀπ' αὐτη̃ς (Ⅲ)

- Parvulos autem vestros, de quibus dixistis quod prædæ hostibus forent, introducam, ut videant terram, quæ vobis displicuit. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 31 ׃14 וטפכם אשר אמרתם לבז יהיה והביאתי אתם וידעו את הארץ אשר מאסתם בה ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 32

But as for you, your carcasses, they shall fall in this wilderness.

- Vos cadavres, à vous, tomberont dans le désert; (Ⅱ)

- καὶ τὰ κω̃λα ὑμω̃ν πεσει̃ται ἐν τη̨̃ ἐρήμω̨ ταύτη̨ (Ⅲ)

- Vestra cadavera jacebunt in solitudine. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 32 ׃14 ופגריכם אתם יפלו במדבר הזה ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 33

And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcasses be wasted in the wilderness.

- et vos enfants paîtront quarante années dans le désert, et porteront la peine de vos infidélités, jusqu'à ce que vos cadavres soient tous tombés dans le désert. (Ⅱ)

- οἱ δὲ υἱοὶ ὑμω̃ν ἔσονται νεμόμενοι ἐν τη̨̃ ἐρήμω̨ τεσσαράκοντα ἔτη καὶ ἀνοίσουσιν τὴν πορνείαν ὑμω̃ν ἕως ἂν ἀναλωθη̨̃ τὰ κω̃λα ὑμω̃ν ἐν τη̨̃ ἐρήμω̨ (Ⅲ)

- Filii vestri erunt vagi in deserto annis quadraginta, et portabunt fornicationem vestram, donec consumantur cadavera patrum in deserto, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 33 ׃14 ובניכם יהיו רעים במדבר ארבעים שנה ונשאו את זנותיכם עד תם פגריכם במדבר ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 34

After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise.

- De même que vous avez mis quarante jours à explorer le pays, vous porterez la peine de vos iniquités quarante années, une année pour chaque jour; et vous saurez ce que c'est que d'être privé de ma présence. (Ⅱ)

- κατὰ τὸν ἀριθμὸν τω̃ν ἡμερω̃ν ὅσας κατεσκέψασθε τὴν γη̃ν τεσσαράκοντα ἡμέρας ἡμέραν του̃ ἐνιαυτου̃ λήμψεσθε τὰς ἁμαρτίας ὑμω̃ν τεσσαράκοντα ἔτη καὶ γνώσεσθε τὸν θυμὸν τη̃ς ὀργη̃ς μου (Ⅲ)

- juxta numerum quadraginta dierum, quibus considerastis terram : annus pro die imputabitur. Et quadraginta annis recipietis iniquitates vestras, et scietis ultionem meam : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 34 ׃14 במספר הימים אשר תרתם את הארץ ארבעים יום יום לשנה יום לשנה תשאו את עונתיכם ארבעים שנה וידעתם את תנואתי ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 35

I the LORD have said, I will surely do it unto all this evil congregation, that are gathered together against me: in this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die.

- Moi, l'Éternel, j'ai parlé! et c'est ainsi que je traiterai cette méchante assemblée qui s'est réunie contre moi; ils seront consumés dans ce désert, ils y mourront. (Ⅱ)

- ἐγὼ κύριος ἐλάλησα ἠ̃ μὴν οὕτως ποιήσω τη̨̃ συναγωγη̨̃ τη̨̃ πονηρα̨̃ ταύτη̨ τη̨̃ ἐπισυνεσταμένη̨ ἐπ' ἐμέ ἐν τη̨̃ ἐρήμω̨ ταύτη̨ ἐξαναλωθήσονται καὶ ἐκει̃ ἀποθανου̃νται (Ⅲ)

- quoniam sicut locutus sum, ita faciam omni multitudini huic pessimæ, quæ consurrexit adversum me : in solitudine hac deficiet, et morietur. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 35 ׃14 אני יהוה דברתי אם לא זאת אעשה לכל העדה הרעה הזאת הנועדים עלי במדבר הזה יתמו ושם ימתו ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 36

And the men, which Moses sent to search the land, who returned, and made all the congregation to murmur against him, by bringing up a slander upon the land,

- Les hommes que Moïse avait envoyés pour explorer le pays, et qui, à leur retour, avaient fait murmurer contre lui toute l'assemblée, en décriant le pays; (Ⅱ)

- καὶ οἱ ἄνθρωποι οὓς ἀπέστειλεν Μωυση̃ς κατασκέψασθαι τὴν γη̃ν καὶ παραγενηθέντες διεγόγγυσαν κατ' αὐτη̃ς πρὸς τὴν συναγωγὴν ἐξενέγκαι ῥήματα πονηρὰ περὶ τη̃ς γη̃ς (Ⅲ)

- Igitur omnes viri, quos miserat Moyses ad contemplandam terram, et qui reversi murmurare fecerant contra eum omnem multitudinem, detrahentes terræ quod esset mala, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 36 ׃14 והאנשים אשר שלח משה לתור את הארץ וישבו *וילונו **וילינו עליו את כל העדה להוציא דבה על הארץ ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 37

Even those men that did bring up the evil report upon the land, died by the plague before the LORD.

- ces hommes, qui avaient décrié le pays, moururent frappés d'une plaie devant l'Éternel. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀπέθανον οἱ ἄνθρωποι οἱ κατείπαντες κατὰ τη̃ς γη̃ς πονηρὰ ἐν τη̨̃ πληγη̨̃ ἔναντι κυρίου (Ⅲ)

- mortui sunt atque percussi in conspectu Domini. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 37 ׃14 וימתו האנשים מוצאי דבת הארץ רעה במגפה לפני יהוה ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 38

But Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of the men that went to search the land, lived still.

- Josué, fils de Nun, et Caleb, fils de Jephunné, restèrent seuls vivants parmi ces hommes qui étaient allés pour explorer le pays. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ 'Ιησου̃ς υἱὸς Ναυη καὶ Χαλεβ υἱὸς Ιεφοννη ἔζησαν ἀπὸ τω̃ν ἀνθρώπων ἐκείνων τω̃ν πεπορευμένων κατασκέψασθαι τὴν γη̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Josue autem filius Nun, et Caleb filius Jephone, vixerunt ex omnibus qui perrexerant ad considerandam terram.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 38 ׃14 ויהושע בן נון וכלב בן יפנה חיו מן האנשים ההם ההלכים לתור את הארץ ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 39

And Moses told these sayings unto all the children of Israel: and the people mourned greatly.

- Moïse rapporta ces choses à tous les enfants d'Israël, et le peuple fut dans une grande désolation. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐλάλησεν Μωυση̃ς τὰ ῥήματα ταυ̃τα πρὸς πάντας υἱοὺς Ισραηλ καὶ ἐπένθησεν ὁ λαὸς σφόδρα (Ⅲ)

- Locutusque est Moyses universa verba hæc ad omnes filios Israël, et luxit populus nimis. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 39 ׃14 וידבר משה את הדברים האלה אל כל בני ישראל ויתאבלו העם מאד ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 40

And they rose up early in the morning, and gat them up into the top of the mountain, saying, Lo, we be here, and will go up unto the place which the LORD hath promised: for we have sinned.

- Ils se levèrent de bon matin, et montèrent au sommet de la montagne, en disant: Nous voici! nous monterons au lieu dont a parlé l'Éternel, car nous avons péché. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ὀρθρίσαντες τὸ πρωὶ ἀνέβησαν εἰς τὴν κορυφὴν του̃ ὄρους λέγοντες ἰδοὺ οἵδε ἡμει̃ς ἀναβησόμεθα εἰς τὸν τόπον ὃν εἰ̃πεν κύριος ὅτι ἡμάρτομεν (Ⅲ)

- Et ecce mane primo surgentes ascenderunt verticem montis, atque dixerunt : Parati sumus ascendere ad locum, de quo Dominus locutus est : quia peccavimus. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 40 ׃14 וישכמו בבקר ויעלו אל ראש ההר לאמר הננו ועלינו אל המקום אשר אמר יהוה כי חטאנו ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 41

And Moses said, Wherefore now do ye transgress the commandment of the LORD? but it shall not prosper.

- Moïse dit: Pourquoi transgressez-vous l'ordre de l'Éternel? Cela ne réussira point. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Μωυση̃ς ἵνα τί ὑμει̃ς παραβαίνετε τὸ ῥη̃μα κυρίου οὐκ εὔοδα ἔσται ὑμι̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Quibus Moyses : Cur, inquit, transgredimini verbum Domini, quod vobis non cedet in prosperum ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 41 ׃14 ויאמר משה למה זה אתם עברים את פי יהוה והוא לא תצלח ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 42

Go not up, for the LORD is not among you; that ye be not smitten before your enemies.

- Ne montez pas! car l'Éternel n'est pas au milieu de vous. Ne vous faites pas battre par vos ennemis. (Ⅱ)

- μὴ ἀναβαίνετε οὐ γάρ ἐστιν κύριος μεθ' ὑμω̃ν καὶ πεσει̃σθε πρὸ προσώπου τω̃ν ἐχθρω̃ν ὑμω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- nolite ascendere : non enim est Dominus vobiscum : ne corruatis coram inimicis vestris. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 42 ׃14 אל תעלו כי אין יהוה בקרבכם ולא תנגפו לפני איביכם ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 43

For the Amalekites and the Canaanites are there before you, and ye shall fall by the sword: because ye are turned away from the LORD, therefore the LORD will not be with you.

- Car les Amalécites et les Cananéens sont là devant vous, et vous tomberez par l'épée. Parce que vous vous êtes détournés de l'Éternel, l'Éternel ne sera point avec vous. (Ⅱ)

- ὅτι ὁ Αμαληκ καὶ ὁ Χαναναι̃ος ἐκει̃ ἔμπροσθεν ὑμω̃ν καὶ πεσει̃σθε μαχαίρα̨ οὑ̃ εἵνεκεν ἀπεστράφητε ἀπειθου̃ντες κυρίω̨ καὶ οὐκ ἔσται κύριος ἐν ὑμι̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Amalecites et Chananæus ante vos sunt, quorum gladio corruetis, eo quod nolueritis acquiescere Domino : nec erit Dominus vobiscum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 43 ׃14 כי העמלקי והכנעני שם לפניכם ונפלתם בחרב כי על כן שבתם מאחרי יהוה ולא יהיה יהוה עמכם ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 44

But they presumed to go up unto the hill top: nevertheless the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and Moses, departed not out of the camp.

- Ils s'obstinèrent à monter au sommet de la montagne; mais l'arche de l'alliance et Moïse ne sortirent point du milieu du camp. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ διαβιασάμενοι ἀνέβησαν ἐπὶ τὴν κορυφὴν του̃ ὄρους ἡ δὲ κιβωτὸς τη̃ς διαθήκης κυρίου καὶ Μωυση̃ς οὐκ ἐκινήθησαν ἐκ τη̃ς παρεμβολη̃ς (Ⅲ)

- At illi contenebrati ascenderunt in verticem montis. Arca autem testamenti Domini et Moyses non recesserunt de castris. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 44 ׃14 ויעפלו לעלות אל ראש ההר וארון ברית יהוה ומשה לא משו מקרב המחנה ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 45

Then the Amalekites came down, and the Canaanites which dwelt in that hill, and smote them, and discomfited them, even unto Hormah.

- Alors descendirent les Amalécites et les Cananéens qui habitaient cette montagne; ils les battirent, et les taillèrent en pièces jusqu'à Horma. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ κατέβη ὁ Αμαληκ καὶ ὁ Χαναναι̃ος ὁ ἐγκαθήμενος ἐν τω̨̃ ὄρει ἐκείνω̨ καὶ ἐτρέψαντο αὐτοὺς καὶ κατέκοψαν αὐτοὺς ἕως Ερμαν καὶ ἀπεστράφησαν εἰς τὴν παρεμβολήν (Ⅲ)

- Descenditque Amalecites et Chananæus, qui habitabat in monte : et percutiens eos atque concidens, persecutus est eos usque Horma. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 45 ׃14 וירד העמלקי והכנעני הישב בהר ההוא ויכום ויכתום עד החרמה פ‬ (Ⅴ)
