And he said, Men, brethren, and fathers, hearken; The God of glory appeared unto our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charran,
- Étienne répondit: Hommes frères et pères, écoutez! Le Dieu de gloire apparut à notre père Abraham, lorsqu'il était en Mésopotamie, avant qu'il s'établît à Charran; et il lui dit: (Ⅱ) - ὁ δὲ ἔφη· Ἄνδρες ἀδελφοὶ καὶ πατέρες, ἀκούσατε· Ὁ θεὸς τῆς δόξης ὤφθη τῷ πατρὶ ἡμῶν Ἀβραὰμ ὄντι ἐν τῇ Μεσοποταμίᾳ πρὶν ἢ κατοικῆσαι αὐτὸν ἐν Χαρράν, (Ⅲ) - Qui ait : Viri fratres et patres, audite : Deus gloriæ apparuit patri nostro Abrahæ cum esset in Mesopotamia, priusquam moraretur in Charan, (Ⅳ)

And said unto him, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and come into the land which I shall shew thee.
- Quitte ton pays et ta famille, et va dans le pays que je te montrerai. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτόν· Ἔξελθε ἐκ τῆς γῆς σου καὶ ⸀ἐκ τῆς συγγενείας σου, καὶ δεῦρο εἰς ⸀τὴν γῆν ἣν ἄν σοι δείξω. (Ⅲ) - et dixit ad illum : Exi de terra tua, et de cognatione tua, et veni in terram quam monstravero tibi. (Ⅳ)

Then came he out of the land of the Chaldaeans, and dwelt in Charran: and from thence, when his father was dead, he removed him into this land, wherein ye now dwell.
- Il sortit alors du pays des Chaldéens, et s'établit à Charran. De là, après la mort de son père, Dieu le fit passer dans ce pays que vous habitez maintenant; (Ⅱ) - τότε ἐξελθὼν ἐκ γῆς Χαλδαίων κατῴκησεν ἐν Χαρράν. κἀκεῖθεν μετὰ τὸ ἀποθανεῖν τὸν πατέρα αὐτοῦ μετῴκισεν αὐτὸν εἰς τὴν γῆν ταύτην εἰς ἣν ὑμεῖς νῦν κατοικεῖτε, (Ⅲ) - Tunc exiit de terra Chaldæorum, et habitavit in Charan. Et inde, postquam mortuus est pater ejus, transtulit illum in terram istam, in qua nunc vos habitatis. (Ⅳ)

And he gave him none inheritance in it, no, not so much as to set his foot on: yet he promised that he would give it to him for a possession, and to his seed after him, when as yet he had no child.
- il ne lui donna aucune propriété en ce pays, pas même de quoi poser le pied, mais il promit de lui en donner la possession, et à sa postérité après lui, quoiqu'il n'eût point d'enfant. (Ⅱ) - καὶ οὐκ ἔδωκεν αὐτῷ κληρονομίαν ἐν αὐτῇ οὐδὲ βῆμα ποδός, καὶ ἐπηγγείλατο δοῦναι αὐτῷ εἰς κατάσχεσιν αὐτὴν καὶ τῷ σπέρματι αὐτοῦ μετ’ αὐτόν, οὐκ ὄντος αὐτῷ τέκνου. (Ⅲ) - Et non dedit illi hæreditatem in ea, nec passum pedis : sed repromisit dare illi eam in possessionem, et semini ejus post ipsum, cum non haberet filium. (Ⅳ)

And God spake on this wise, That his seed should sojourn in a strange land; and that they should bring them into bondage, and entreat them evil four hundred years.
- Dieu parla ainsi: Sa postérité séjournera dans un pays étranger; on la réduira en servitude et on la maltraitera pendant quatre cents ans. (Ⅱ) - ἐλάλησεν ⸀δὲ οὕτως ὁ θεὸς ὅτι ἔσται τὸ σπέρμα αὐτοῦ πάροικον ἐν γῇ ἀλλοτρίᾳ, καὶ δουλώσουσιν αὐτὸ καὶ κακώσουσιν ἔτη τετρακόσια· (Ⅲ) - Locutus est autem ei Deus : Quia erit semen ejus accola in terra aliena, et servituti eos subjicient, et male tractabunt eos annis quadringentis : (Ⅳ)

And the nation to whom they shall be in bondage will I judge, said God: and after that shall they come forth, and serve me in this place.
- Mais la nation à laquelle ils auront été asservis, c'est moi qui la jugerai, dit Dieu. Après cela, ils sortiront, et ils me serviront dans ce lieu-ci. (Ⅱ) - καὶ τὸ ἔθνος ᾧ ⸀ἐὰν ⸀δουλεύσουσιν κρινῶ ἐγώ, ⸂ὁ θεὸς εἶπεν⸃, καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα ἐξελεύσονται καὶ λατρεύσουσίν μοι ἐν τῷ τόπῳ τούτῳ. (Ⅲ) - et gentem cui servierint, judicabo ego, dixit Dominus : et post hæc exibunt, et servient mihi in loco isto. (Ⅳ)

And he gave him the covenant of circumcision: and so Abraham begat Isaac, and circumcised him the eighth day; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat the twelve patriarchs.
- Puis Dieu donna à Abraham l'alliance de la circoncision; et ainsi, Abraham, ayant engendré Isaac, le circoncit le huitième jour; Isaac engendra et circoncit Jacob, et Jacob les douze patriarches. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτῷ διαθήκην περιτομῆς· καὶ οὕτως ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἰσαὰκ καὶ περιέτεμεν αὐτὸν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ ὀγδόῃ, ⸀καὶ Ἰσαὰκ τὸν Ἰακώβ, ⸁καὶ Ἰακὼβ τοὺς δώδεκα πατριάρχας. (Ⅲ) - Et dedit illi testamentum circumcisionis : et sic genuit Isaac, et circumcidit eum die octavo : et Isaac, Jacob : et Jacob, duodecim patriarchas. (Ⅳ)

And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt: but God was with him,
- Les patriarches, jaloux de Joseph, le vendirent pour être emmené en Égypte. (Ⅱ) - Καὶ οἱ πατριάρχαι ζηλώσαντες τὸν Ἰωσὴφ ἀπέδοντο εἰς Αἴγυπτον· καὶ ἦν ὁ θεὸς μετ’ αὐτοῦ, (Ⅲ) - Et patriarchæ æmulantes, Joseph vendiderunt in Ægyptum : et erat Deus cum eo, (Ⅳ)

And delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favour and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house.
- Mais Dieu fut avec lui, et le délivra de toutes ses tribulations; il lui donna de la sagesse et lui fit trouver grâce devant Pharaon, roi d'Égypte, qui l'établit gouverneur d'Égypte et de toute sa maison. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐξείλατο αὐτὸν ἐκ πασῶν τῶν θλίψεων αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτῷ χάριν καὶ σοφίαν ἐναντίον Φαραὼ βασιλέως Αἰγύπτου, καὶ κατέστησεν αὐτὸν ἡγούμενον ἐπ’ Αἴγυπτον ⸀καὶ ὅλον τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦ. (Ⅲ) - et eripuit eum ex omnibus tribulationibus ejus, et dedit ei gratiam et sapientiam in conspectu pharaonis regis Ægypti : et constituit eum præpositum super Ægyptum, et super omnem domum suam. (Ⅳ)

Now there came a dearth over all the land of Egypt and Chanaan, and great affliction: and our fathers found no sustenance.
- Il survint une famine dans tout le pays d'Égypte, et dans celui de Canaan. La détresse était grande, et nos pères ne trouvaient pas de quoi se nourrir. (Ⅱ) - ἦλθεν δὲ λιμὸς ἐφ’ ὅλην τὴν ⸀Αἴγυπτον καὶ Χανάαν καὶ θλῖψις μεγάλη, καὶ οὐχ ηὕρισκον χορτάσματα οἱ πατέρες ἡμῶν· (Ⅲ) - Venit autem fames in universam Ægyptum et Chanaan, et tribulatio magna : et non inveniebant cibos patres nostri. (Ⅳ)

But when Jacob heard that there was corn in Egypt, he sent out our fathers first.
- Jacob apprit qu'il y avait du blé en Égypte, et il y envoya nos pères une première fois. (Ⅱ) - ἀκούσας δὲ Ἰακὼβ ὄντα ⸂σιτία εἰς Αἴγυπτον⸃ ἐξαπέστειλεν τοὺς πατέρας ἡμῶν πρῶτον· (Ⅲ) - Cum audisset autem Jacob esse frumentum in Ægypto, misit patres nostros primum : (Ⅳ)

And at the second time Joseph was made known to his brethren; and Joseph's kindred was made known unto Pharaoh.
- Et la seconde fois, Joseph fut reconnu par ses frères, et Pharaon sut de quelle famille il était. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐν τῷ δευτέρῳ ⸀ἀνεγνωρίσθη Ἰωσὴφ τοῖς ἀδελφοῖς αὐτοῦ, καὶ φανερὸν ἐγένετο τῷ Φαραὼ τὸ ⸀γένος Ἰωσήφ. (Ⅲ) - et in secundo cognitus est Joseph a fratribus suis, et manifestatum est Pharaoni genus ejus. (Ⅳ)

Then sent Joseph, and called his father Jacob to him, and all his kindred, threescore and fifteen souls.
- Puis Joseph envoya chercher son père Jacob, et toute sa famille, composée de soixante-quinze personnes. (Ⅱ) - ἀποστείλας δὲ Ἰωσὴφ μετεκαλέσατο ⸂Ἰακὼβ τὸν πατέρα αὐτοῦ⸃ καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν συγγένειαν ἐν ψυχαῖς ἑβδομήκοντα πέντε, (Ⅲ) - Mittens autem Joseph, accersivit Jacob patrem suum et omnem cognationem suam, in animabus septuaginta quinque. (Ⅳ)

So Jacob went down into Egypt, and died, he, and our fathers,
- Jacob descendit en Égypte, où il mourut, ainsi que nos pères; (Ⅱ) - ⸂καὶ κατέβη⸃ Ἰακὼβ εἰς Αἴγυπτον. καὶ ἐτελεύτησεν αὐτὸς καὶ οἱ πατέρες ἡμῶν, (Ⅲ) - Et descendit Jacob in Ægyptum : et defunctus est ipse, et patres nostri. (Ⅳ)

And were carried over into Sychem, and laid in the sepulchre that Abraham bought for a sum of money of the sons of Emmor the father of Sychem.
- et ils furent transportés à Sichem, et déposés dans le sépulcre qu'Abraham avait acheté, à prix d'argent, des fils d'Hémor, père de Sichem. (Ⅱ) - καὶ μετετέθησαν εἰς Συχὲμ καὶ ἐτέθησαν ἐν τῷ μνήματι ⸀ᾧ ὠνήσατο Ἀβραὰμ τιμῆς ἀργυρίου παρὰ τῶν υἱῶν Ἑμμὼρ ⸀ἐν Συχέμ. (Ⅲ) - Et translati sunt in Sichem, et positi sunt in sepulchro, quod emit Abraham pretio argenti a filiis Hemor filii Sichem.\ (Ⅳ)

But when the time of the promise drew nigh, which God had sworn to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt,
- Le temps approchait où devait s'accomplir la promesse que Dieu avait faite à Abraham, et le peuple s'accrut et se multiplia en Égypte, (Ⅱ) - Καθὼς δὲ ἤγγιζεν ὁ χρόνος τῆς ἐπαγγελίας ἧς ⸀ὡμολόγησεν ὁ θεὸς τῷ Ἀβραάμ, ηὔξησεν ὁ λαὸς καὶ ἐπληθύνθη ἐν Αἰγύπτῳ, (Ⅲ) - Cum autem appropinquaret tempus promissionis quam confessus erat Deus Abrahæ, crevit populus, et multiplicatus est in Ægypto, (Ⅳ)

Till another king arose, which knew not Joseph.
- jusqu'à ce que parut un autre roi, qui n'avait pas connu Joseph. (Ⅱ) - ἄχρι οὗ ἀνέστη βασιλεὺς ἕτερος ⸂ἐπ’ Αἴγυπτον⸃, ὃς οὐκ ᾔδει τὸν Ἰωσήφ. (Ⅲ) - quoadusque surrexit alius rex in Ægypto, qui non sciebat Joseph. (Ⅳ)

The same dealt subtilly with our kindred, and evil entreated our fathers, so that they cast out their young children, to the end they might not live.
- Ce roi, usant d'artifice contre notre race, maltraita nos pères, au point de leur faire exposer leurs enfants, pour qu'ils ne vécussent pas. (Ⅱ) - οὗτος κατασοφισάμενος τὸ γένος ἡμῶν ἐκάκωσεν τοὺς ⸀πατέρας τοῦ ποιεῖν ⸂τὰ βρέφη ἔκθετα⸃ αὐτῶν εἰς τὸ μὴ ζῳογονεῖσθαι. (Ⅲ) - Hic circumveniens genus nostrum, afflixit patres nostros ut exponerent infantes suos, ne vivificarentur. (Ⅳ)

In which time Moses was born, and was exceeding fair, and nourished up in his father's house three months:
- A cette époque, naquit Moïse, qui était beau aux yeux de Dieu. Il fut nourri trois mois dans la maison de son père; (Ⅱ) - ἐν ᾧ καιρῷ ἐγεννήθη Μωϋσῆς, καὶ ἦν ἀστεῖος τῷ θεῷ· ὃς ἀνετράφη μῆνας τρεῖς ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ τοῦ πατρός· (Ⅲ) - Eodem tempore natus est Moyses, et fuit gratus Deo : qui nutritus est tribus mensibus in domo patris sui. (Ⅳ)

And when he was cast out, Pharaoh's daughter took him up, and nourished him for her own son.
- et, quand il eut été exposé, la fille de Pharaon le recueillit, et l'éleva comme son fils. (Ⅱ) - ⸂ἐκτεθέντος δὲ αὐτοῦ ἀνείλατο αὐτὸν⸃ ἡ θυγάτηρ Φαραὼ καὶ ἀνεθρέψατο αὐτὸν ἑαυτῇ εἰς υἱόν. (Ⅲ) - Exposito autem illo, sustulit eum filia Pharaonis, et nutrivit eum sibi in filium. (Ⅳ)

And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and in deeds.
- Moïse fut instruit dans toute la sagesse des Égyptiens, et il était puissant en paroles et en oeuvres. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐπαιδεύθη ⸀Μωϋσῆς πάσῃ σοφίᾳ Αἰγυπτίων, ἦν δὲ δυνατὸς ἐν λόγοις καὶ ἔργοις ⸀αὐτοῦ. (Ⅲ) - Et eruditus est Moyses omni sapientia Ægyptiorum, et erat potens in verbis et in operibus suis. (Ⅳ)

And when he was full forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren the children of Israel.
- Il avait quarante ans, lorsqu'il lui vint dans le coeur de visiter ses frères, les fils d'Israël. (Ⅱ) - Ὡς δὲ ἐπληροῦτο αὐτῷ τεσσερακονταετὴς χρόνος, ἀνέβη ἐπὶ τὴν καρδίαν αὐτοῦ ἐπισκέψασθαι τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτοῦ τοὺς υἱοὺς Ἰσραήλ. (Ⅲ) - Cum autem impleretur ei quadraginta annorum tempus, ascendit in cor ejus ut visitaret fratres suos filios Israël. (Ⅳ)

And seeing one of them suffer wrong, he defended him, and avenged him that was oppressed, and smote the Egyptian:
- Il en vit un qu'on outrageait, et, prenant sa défense, il vengea celui qui était maltraité, et frappa l'Égyptien. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἰδών τινα ἀδικούμενον ἠμύνατο καὶ ἐποίησεν ἐκδίκησιν τῷ καταπονουμένῳ πατάξας τὸν Αἰγύπτιον. (Ⅲ) - Et cum vidisset quemdam injuriam patientem, vindicavit illum, et fecit ultionem ei qui injuriam sustinebat, percusso Ægyptio. (Ⅳ)

For he supposed his brethren would have understood how that God by his hand would deliver them: but they understood not.
- Il pensait que ses frères comprendraient que Dieu leur accordait la délivrance par sa main; mais ils ne comprirent pas. (Ⅱ) - ἐνόμιζεν δὲ συνιέναι τοὺς ⸀ἀδελφοὺς ὅτι ὁ θεὸς διὰ χειρὸς αὐτοῦ δίδωσιν ⸂σωτηρίαν αὐτοῖς⸃, οἱ δὲ οὐ συνῆκαν. (Ⅲ) - Existimabat autem intelligere fratres, quoniam Deus per manum ipsius daret salutem illis : at illi non intellexerunt. (Ⅳ)

And the next day he shewed himself unto them as they strove, and would have set them at one again, saying, Sirs, ye are brethren; why do ye wrong one to another?
- Le jour suivant, il parut au milieu d'eux comme ils se battaient, et il les exhorta à la paix: Hommes, dit-il, vous êtes frères; pourquoi vous maltraitez-vous l'un l'autre? (Ⅱ) - τῇ τε ἐπιούσῃ ἡμέρᾳ ὤφθη αὐτοῖς μαχομένοις καὶ ⸀συνήλλασσεν αὐτοὺς εἰς εἰρήνην εἰπών· Ἄνδρες, ἀδελφοί ⸀ἐστε· ἱνατί ἀδικεῖτε ἀλλήλους; (Ⅲ) - Sequenti vero die apparuit illis litigantibus : et reconciliabat eos in pace, dicens : Viri, fratres estis : ut quid nocetis alterutrum ? (Ⅳ)

But he that did his neighbour wrong thrust him away, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge over us?
- Mais celui qui maltraitait son prochain le repoussa, en disant: Qui t'a établi chef et juge sur nous? (Ⅱ) - ὁ δὲ ἀδικῶν τὸν πλησίον ἀπώσατο αὐτὸν εἰπών· Τίς σε κατέστησεν ἄρχοντα καὶ δικαστὴν ἐφ’ ⸀ἡμῶν; (Ⅲ) - Qui autem injuriam faciebat proximo, repulit eum, dicens : Quis te constituit principem et judicem super nos ? (Ⅳ)

Wilt thou kill me, as thou diddest the Egyptian yesterday?
- Veux-tu me tuer, comme tu as tué hier l'Égyptien? (Ⅱ) - μὴ ἀνελεῖν με σὺ θέλεις ὃν τρόπον ἀνεῖλες ⸀ἐχθὲς τὸν Αἰγύπτιον; (Ⅲ) - Numquid interficere me tu vis, quemadmodum interfecisti heri Ægyptium ? (Ⅳ)

Then fled Moses at this saying, and was a stranger in the land of Madian, where he begat two sons.
- A cette parole, Moïse prit la fuite, et il alla séjourner dans le pays de Madian, où il engendra deux fils. (Ⅱ) - ἔφυγεν δὲ Μωϋσῆς ἐν τῷ λόγῳ τούτῳ, καὶ ἐγένετο πάροικος ἐν γῇ Μαδιάμ, οὗ ἐγέννησεν υἱοὺς δύο. (Ⅲ) - Fugit autem Moyses in verbo isto : et factus est advena in terra Madian, ubi generavit filios duos. (Ⅳ)

And when forty years were expired, there appeared to him in the wilderness of mount Sina an angel of the Lord in a flame of fire in a bush.
- Quarante ans plus tard, un ange lui apparut, au désert de la montagne de Sinaï, dans la flamme d'un buisson en feu. (Ⅱ) - Καὶ πληρωθέντων ἐτῶν τεσσεράκοντα ὤφθη αὐτῷ ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ τοῦ ὄρους Σινᾶ ⸀ἄγγελος ἐν φλογὶ πυρὸς βάτου· (Ⅲ) - Et expletis annis quadraginta, apparuit illi in deserto montis Sina angelus in igne flammæ rubi. (Ⅳ)

When Moses saw it, he wondered at the sight: and as he drew near to behold it, the voice of the LORD came unto him,
- Moïse, voyant cela, fut étonné de cette apparition; et, comme il s'approchait pour examiner, la voix du Seigneur se fit entendre: (Ⅱ) - ὁ δὲ Μωϋσῆς ἰδὼν ⸀ἐθαύμασεν τὸ ὅραμα. προσερχομένου δὲ αὐτοῦ κατανοῆσαι ἐγένετο φωνὴ ⸀κυρίου· (Ⅲ) - Moyses autem videns, admiratus est visum. Et accedente illo ut consideraret, facta est ad eum vox Domini, dicens : (Ⅳ)

Saying, I am the God of thy fathers, the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Then Moses trembled, and durst not behold.
- Je suis le Dieu de tes pères, le Dieu d'Abraham, d'Isaac et de Jacob. Et Moïse, tout tremblant, n'osait regarder. (Ⅱ) - Ἐγὼ ὁ θεὸς τῶν πατέρων σου, ὁ θεὸς Ἀβραὰμ ⸀καὶ Ἰσαὰκ ⸁καὶ Ἰακώβ. ἔντρομος δὲ γενόμενος Μωϋσῆς οὐκ ἐτόλμα κατανοῆσαι. (Ⅲ) - Ego sum Deus patrum tuorum, Deus Abraham, Deus Isaac, et Deus Jacob. Tremefactus autem Moyses, non audebat considerare. (Ⅳ)

Then said the Lord to him, Put off thy shoes from thy feet: for the place where thou standest is holy ground.
- Le Seigneur lui dit: Ote tes souliers de tes pieds, car le lieu sur lequel tu te tiens est une terre sainte. (Ⅱ) - εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ ὁ κύριος· Λῦσον τὸ ὑπόδημα τῶν ποδῶν σου, ὁ γὰρ τόπος ⸀ἐφ’ ᾧ ἕστηκας γῆ ἁγία ἐστίν. (Ⅲ) - Dixit autem illi Dominus : Solve calceamentum pedum tuorum : locus enim in quo stas, terra sancta est. (Ⅳ)

I have seen, I have seen the affliction of my people which is in Egypt, and I have heard their groaning, and am come down to deliver them. And now come, I will send thee into Egypt.
- J'ai vu la souffrance de mon peuple qui est en Égypte, j'ai entendu ses gémissements, et je suis descendu pour le délivrer. Maintenant, va, je t'enverrai en Égypte. (Ⅱ) - ἰδὼν εἶδον τὴν κάκωσιν τοῦ λαοῦ μου τοῦ ἐν Αἰγύπτῳ, καὶ τοῦ στεναγμοῦ ⸀αὐτοῦ ἤκουσα, καὶ κατέβην ἐξελέσθαι αὐτούς· καὶ νῦν δεῦρο ⸀ἀποστείλω σε εἰς Αἴγυπτον. (Ⅲ) - Videns vidi afflictionem populi mei qui est in Ægypto, et gemitum eorum audivi, et descendi liberare eos. Et nunc veni, et mittam te in Ægyptum. (Ⅳ)

This Moses whom they refused, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge? the same did God send to be a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush.
- Ce Moïse, qu'ils avaient renié, en disant: Qui t'a établi chef et juge? c'est lui que Dieu envoya comme chef et comme libérateur avec l'aide de l'ange qui lui était apparu dans le buisson. (Ⅱ) - Τοῦτον τὸν Μωϋσῆν, ὃν ἠρνήσαντο εἰπόντες· Τίς σε κατέστησεν ἄρχοντα καὶ δικαστήν, τοῦτον ὁ θεὸς ⸀καὶ ἄρχοντα καὶ λυτρωτὴν ⸂ἀπέσταλκεν σὺν⸃ χειρὶ ἀγγέλου τοῦ ὀφθέντος αὐτῷ ἐν τῇ βάτῳ. (Ⅲ) - Hunc Moysen, quem negaverunt, dicentes : Quis te constituit principem et judicem ? hunc Deus principem et redemptorem misit, cum manu angeli qui apparuit illi in rubo. (Ⅳ)

He brought them out, after that he had shewed wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red sea, and in the wilderness forty years.
- C'est lui qui les fit sortir d'Égypte, en opérant des prodiges et des miracles au pays d'Égypte, au sein de la mer Rouge, et au désert, pendant quarante ans. (Ⅱ) - οὗτος ἐξήγαγεν αὐτοὺς ποιήσας τέρατα καὶ σημεῖα ἐν ⸀γῇ Αἰγύπτῳ καὶ ἐν Ἐρυθρᾷ Θαλάσσῃ καὶ ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ ἔτη τεσσεράκοντα. (Ⅲ) - Hic eduxit illos faciens prodigia et signa in terra Ægypti, et in rubro mari, et in deserto annis quadraginta. (Ⅳ)

This is that Moses, which said unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear.
- C'est ce Moïse qui dit aux fils d'Israël: Dieu vous suscitera d'entre vos frères un prophète comme moi. (Ⅱ) - οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ Μωϋσῆς ὁ ⸀εἴπας τοῖς υἱοῖς Ἰσραήλ· Προφήτην ὑμῖν ἀναστήσει ⸂ὁ θεὸς⸃ ἐκ τῶν ἀδελφῶν ὑμῶν ὡς ἐμέ. (Ⅲ) - Hic est Moyses, qui dixit filiis Israël : Prophetam suscitabit vobis Deus de fratribus vestris, tamquam me : ipsum audietis. (Ⅳ)

This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us:
- C'est lui qui, lors de l'assemblée au désert, étant avec l'ange qui lui parlait sur la montagne de Sinaï et avec nos pères, reçut des oracles vivants, pour nous les donner. (Ⅱ) - οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ γενόμενος ἐν τῇ ἐκκλησίᾳ ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ μετὰ τοῦ ἀγγέλου τοῦ λαλοῦντος αὐτῷ ἐν τῷ ὄρει Σινᾶ καὶ τῶν πατέρων ἡμῶν, ὃς ἐδέξατο ⸀λόγια ζῶντα δοῦναι ⸀ἡμῖν, (Ⅲ) - Hic est qui fuit in ecclesia in solitudine cum angelo, qui loquebatur ei in monte Sina, et cum patribus nostris : qui accepit verba vitæ dare nobis. (Ⅳ)

To whom our fathers would not obey, but thrust him from them, and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt,
- Nos pères ne voulurent pas lui obéir, ils le repoussèrent, et ils tournèrent leur coeur vers l'Égypte, (Ⅱ) - ᾧ οὐκ ἠθέλησαν ὑπήκοοι γενέσθαι οἱ πατέρες ἡμῶν, ἀλλὰ ἀπώσαντο καὶ ἐστράφησαν ⸂ἐν ταῖς καρδίαις⸃ αὐτῶν εἰς Αἴγυπτον, (Ⅲ) - Cui noluerunt obedire patres nostri : sed repulerunt, et aversi sunt cordibus suis in Ægyptum, (Ⅳ)

Saying unto Aaron, Make us gods to go before us: for as for this Moses, which brought us out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.
- en disant à Aaron: Fais-nous des dieux qui marchent devant nous; car ce Moïse qui nous a fait sortir du pays d'Égypte, nous ne savons ce qu'il est devenu. (Ⅱ) - εἰπόντες τῷ Ἀαρών· Ποίησον ἡμῖν θεοὺς οἳ προπορεύσονται ἡμῶν· ὁ γὰρ Μωϋσῆς οὗτος, ὃς ἐξήγαγεν ἡμᾶς ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου, οὐκ οἴδαμεν τί ⸀ἐγένετο αὐτῷ. (Ⅲ) - dicentes ad Aaron : Fac nobis deos qui præcedant nos : Moyses enim hic, qui eduxit nos de terra Ægypti, nescimus quid factum sit ei. (Ⅳ)

And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice unto the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands.

(Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐμοσχοποίησαν ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις ἐκείναις καὶ ἀνήγαγον θυσίαν τῷ εἰδώλῳ, καὶ εὐφραίνοντο ἐν τοῖς ἔργοις τῶν χειρῶν αὐτῶν. (Ⅲ) - Et vitulum fecerunt in diebus illis, et obtulerunt hostiam simulacro, et lætabantur in operibus manuum suarum. (Ⅳ)

Then God turned, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, O ye house of Israel, have ye offered to me slain beasts and sacrifices by the space of forty years in the wilderness?
- Alors Dieu se détourna, et les livra au culte de l'armée du ciel, selon qu'il est écrit dans le livre des prophètes: M'avez-vous offert des victimes et des sacrifices Pendant quarante ans au désert, maison d'Israël?... (Ⅱ) - ἔστρεψεν δὲ ὁ θεὸς καὶ παρέδωκεν αὐτοὺς λατρεύειν τῇ στρατιᾷ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ, καθὼς γέγραπται ἐν βίβλῳ τῶν προφητῶν· Μὴ σφάγια καὶ θυσίας προσηνέγκατέ μοι ἔτη τεσσεράκοντα ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ, οἶκος Ἰσραήλ; (Ⅲ) - Convertit autem Deus, et tradidit eos servire militiæ cæli, sicut scriptum est in libro prophetarum : [Numquid victimas et hostias obtulistis mihi/ annis quadraginta in deserto, domus Israël ?/ (Ⅳ)

Yea, ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your god Remphan, figures which ye made to worship them: and I will carry you away beyond Babylon.
- Vous avez porté la tente de Moloch Et l'étoile du dieu Remphan, Ces images que vous avez faites pour les adorer! Aussi vous transporterai-je au delà de Babylone. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀνελάβετε τὴν σκηνὴν τοῦ Μολὸχ καὶ τὸ ἄστρον τοῦ ⸀θεοῦ ⸀Ῥαιφάν, τοὺς τύπους οὓς ἐποιήσατε προσκυνεῖν αὐτοῖς. καὶ μετοικιῶ ὑμᾶς ἐπέκεινα Βαβυλῶνος. (Ⅲ) - Et suscepistis tabernaculum Moloch,/ et sidus dei vestri Rempham,/ figuras quas fecistis adorare eas :/ et transferam vos trans Babylonem.] (Ⅳ)

Our fathers had the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness, as he had appointed, speaking unto Moses, that he should make it according to the fashion that he had seen.
- Nos pères avaient au désert le tabernacle du témoignage, comme l'avait ordonné celui qui dit à Moïse de le faire d'après le modèle qu'il avait vu. (Ⅱ) - Ἡ σκηνὴ τοῦ μαρτυρίου ἦν τοῖς πατράσιν ἡμῶν ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ, καθὼς διετάξατο ὁ λαλῶν τῷ Μωϋσῇ ποιῆσαι αὐτὴν κατὰ τὸν τύπον ὃν ἑωράκει, (Ⅲ) - Tabernaculum testimonii fuit cum patribus nostris in deserto, sicut disposuit illis Deus loquens ad Moysen, ut faceret illud secundum formam quam viderat. (Ⅳ)

Which also our fathers that came after brought in with Jesus into the possession of the Gentiles, whom God drave out before the face of our fathers, unto the days of David;
- Et nos pères, l'ayant reçu, l'introduisirent, sous la conduite de Josué, dans le pays qui était possédé par les nations que Dieu chassa devant eux, et il y resta jusqu'aux jours de David. (Ⅱ) - ἣν καὶ εἰσήγαγον διαδεξάμενοι οἱ πατέρες ἡμῶν μετὰ Ἰησοῦ ἐν τῇ κατασχέσει τῶν ἐθνῶν ὧν ἐξῶσεν ὁ θεὸς ἀπὸ προσώπου τῶν πατέρων ἡμῶν ἕως τῶν ἡμερῶν Δαυίδ· (Ⅲ) - Quod et induxerunt, suscipientes patres nostri cum Jesu in possessionem gentium quas expulit Deus a facie patrum nostrorum, usque in diebus David, (Ⅳ)

Who found favour before God, and desired to find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.
- David trouva grâce devant Dieu, et demanda d'élever une demeure pour le Dieu de Jacob; (Ⅱ) - ὃς εὗρεν χάριν ἐνώπιον τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ ᾐτήσατο εὑρεῖν σκήνωμα τῷ ⸀θεῷ Ἰακώβ. (Ⅲ) - qui invenit gratiam ante Deum, et petiit ut inveniret tabernaculum Deo Jacob. (Ⅳ)

Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest?
- Le ciel est mon trône, Et la terre mon marchepied. Quelle maison me bâtirez-vous, dit le Seigneur, Ou quel sera le lieu de mon repos? (Ⅱ) - Ὁ οὐρανός μοι θρόνος, ⸂ἡ δὲ⸃ γῆ ὑποπόδιον τῶν ποδῶν μου· ποῖον οἶκον οἰκοδομήσετέ μοι, λέγει κύριος, ἢ τίς τόπος τῆς καταπαύσεώς μου; (Ⅲ) - Cælum mihi sedes est :/ terra autem scabellum pedum meorum./ Quam domum ædificabitis mihi ? dicit Dominus :/ aut quis locus requietionis meæ est ?/ (Ⅳ)
