Théophile, j'ai parlé, dans mon premier livre, de tout ce que Jésus a commencé de faire et d'enseigner dès le commencement
- The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, (Ⅱ)
- Τὸν μὲν πρῶτον λόγον ἐποιησάμην περὶ πάντων, ὦ Θεόφιλε, ὧν ἤρξατο ⸀ὁ Ἰησοῦς ποιεῖν τε καὶ διδάσκειν (Ⅲ)
- Primum quidem sermonem feci de omnibus, o Theophile, quæ cœpit Jesus facere et docere (Ⅳ)

jusqu'au jour où il fut enlevé au ciel, après avoir donné ses ordres, par le Saint Esprit, aux apôtres qu'il avait choisis.
- Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen: (Ⅱ)
- ἄχρι ἧς ἡμέρας ἐντειλάμενος τοῖς ἀποστόλοις διὰ πνεύματος ἁγίου οὓς ἐξελέξατο ἀνελήμφθη· (Ⅲ)
- usque in diem qua præcipiens Apostolis per Spiritum Sanctum, quos elegit, assumptus est : (Ⅳ)

Après qu'il eut souffert, il leur apparut vivant, et leur en donna plusieurs preuves, se montrant à eux pendant quarante jours, et parlant des choses qui concernent le royaume de Dieu.
- To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God: (Ⅱ)
- οἷς καὶ παρέστησεν ἑαυτὸν ζῶντα μετὰ τὸ παθεῖν αὐτὸν ἐν πολλοῖς τεκμηρίοις, δι’ ἡμερῶν τεσσεράκοντα ὀπτανόμενος αὐτοῖς καὶ λέγων τὰ περὶ τῆς βασιλείας τοῦ θεοῦ· (Ⅲ)
- quibus et præbuit seipsum vivum post passionem suam in multis argumentis, per dies quadraginta apparens eis, et loquens de regno Dei.\ (Ⅳ)

Comme il se trouvait avec eux, il leur recommanda de ne pas s'éloigner de Jérusalem, mais d'attendre ce que le Père avait promis, ce que je vous ai annoncé, leur dit-il;
- And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ συναλιζόμενος παρήγγειλεν αὐτοῖς ἀπὸ Ἱεροσολύμων μὴ χωρίζεσθαι, ἀλλὰ περιμένειν τὴν ἐπαγγελίαν τοῦ πατρὸς ἣν ἠκούσατέ μου· (Ⅲ)
- Et convescens, præcepit eis ab Jerosolymis ne discederent, sed exspectarent promissionem Patris, quam audistis (inquit) per os meum : (Ⅳ)

car Jean a baptisé d'eau, mais vous, dans peu de jours, vous serez baptisés du Saint Esprit.
- For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. (Ⅱ)
- ὅτι Ἰωάννης μὲν ἐβάπτισεν ὕδατι, ὑμεῖς δὲ ⸂ἐν πνεύματι βαπτισθήσεσθε⸃ ἁγίῳ οὐ μετὰ πολλὰς ταύτας ἡμέρας. (Ⅲ)
- quia Joannes quidem baptizavit aqua, vos autem baptizabimini Spiritu Sancto non post multos hos dies. (Ⅳ)

Alors les apôtres réunis lui demandèrent: Seigneur, est-ce en ce temps que tu rétabliras le royaume d'Israël?
- When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? (Ⅱ)
- Οἱ μὲν οὖν συνελθόντες ⸀ἠρώτων αὐτὸν λέγοντες· Κύριε, εἰ ἐν τῷ χρόνῳ τούτῳ ἀποκαθιστάνεις τὴν βασιλείαν τῷ Ἰσραήλ; (Ⅲ)
- Igitur qui convenerant, interrogabant eum, dicentes : Domine, si in tempore hoc restitues regnum Israël ? (Ⅳ)

Il leur répondit: Ce n'est pas à vous de connaître les temps ou les moments que le Père a fixés de sa propre autorité.
- And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. (Ⅱ)
- εἶπεν ⸀δὲ πρὸς αὐτούς· Οὐχ ὑμῶν ἐστιν γνῶναι χρόνους ἢ καιροὺς οὓς ὁ πατὴρ ἔθετο ἐν τῇ ἰδίᾳ ἐξουσίᾳ, (Ⅲ)
- Dixit autem eis : Non est vestrum nosse tempora vel momenta quæ Pater posuit in sua potestate : (Ⅳ)

Mais vous recevrez une puissance, le Saint Esprit survenant sur vous, et vous serez mes témoins à Jérusalem, dans toute la Judée, dans la Samarie, et jusqu'aux extrémités de la terre.
- But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. (Ⅱ)
- ἀλλὰ λήμψεσθε δύναμιν ἐπελθόντος τοῦ ἁγίου πνεύματος ἐφ’ ὑμᾶς, καὶ ἔσεσθέ ⸀μου μάρτυρες ἔν τε Ἰερουσαλὴμ καὶ ἐν πάσῃ τῇ Ἰουδαίᾳ καὶ Σαμαρείᾳ καὶ ἕως ἐσχάτου τῆς γῆς. (Ⅲ)
- sed accipietis virtutem supervenientis Spiritus Sancti in vos, et eritis mihi testes in Jerusalem, et in omni Judæa, et Samaria, et usque ad ultimum terræ.\ (Ⅳ)

Après avoir dit cela, il fut élevé pendant qu'ils le regardaient, et une nuée le déroba à leurs yeux.
- And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ταῦτα εἰπὼν βλεπόντων αὐτῶν ἐπήρθη καὶ νεφέλη ὑπέλαβεν αὐτὸν ἀπὸ τῶν ὀφθαλμῶν αὐτῶν. (Ⅲ)
- Et cum hæc dixisset, videntibus illis, elevatus est : et nubes suscepit eum ab oculis eorum. (Ⅳ)

Et comme ils avaient les regards fixés vers le ciel pendant qu'il s'en allait, voici, deux hommes vêtus de blanc leur apparurent,
- And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ὡς ἀτενίζοντες ἦσαν εἰς τὸν οὐρανὸν πορευομένου αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἰδοὺ ἄνδρες δύο παρειστήκεισαν αὐτοῖς ἐν ⸂ἐσθήσεσι λευκαῖς⸃, (Ⅲ)
- Cumque intuerentur in cælum euntem illum, ecce duo viri astiterunt juxta illos in vestibus albis, (Ⅳ)

et dirent: Hommes Galiléens, pourquoi vous arrêtez-vous à regarder au ciel? Ce Jésus, qui a été enlevé au ciel du milieu de vous, viendra de la même manière que vous l'avez vu allant au ciel.
- Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. (Ⅱ)
- οἳ καὶ εἶπαν· Ἄνδρες Γαλιλαῖοι, τί ἑστήκατε ⸀βλέποντες εἰς τὸν οὐρανόν; οὗτος ὁ Ἰησοῦς ὁ ἀναλημφθεὶς ἀφ’ ὑμῶν εἰς τὸν οὐρανὸν οὕτως ἐλεύσεται ὃν τρόπον ἐθεάσασθε αὐτὸν πορευόμενον εἰς τὸν οὐρανόν. (Ⅲ)
- qui et dixerunt : Viri Galilæi, quid statis aspicientes in cælum ? Hic Jesus, qui assumptus est a vobis in cælum, sic veniet quemadmodum vidistis eum euntem in cælum.\ (Ⅳ)

Alors ils retournèrent à Jérusalem, de la montagne appelée des oliviers, qui est près de Jérusalem, à la distance d'un chemin de sabbat.
- Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day's journey. (Ⅱ)
- Τότε ὑπέστρεψαν εἰς Ἰερουσαλὴμ ἀπὸ ὄρους τοῦ καλουμένου Ἐλαιῶνος, ὅ ἐστιν ἐγγὺς Ἰερουσαλὴμ σαββάτου ἔχον ὁδόν. (Ⅲ)
- Tunc reversi sunt Jerosolymam a monte qui vocatur Oliveti, qui est juxta Jerusalem, sabbati habens iter. (Ⅳ)

Quand ils furent arrivés, ils montèrent dans la chambre haute où ils se tenaient d'ordinaire; c'étaient Pierre, Jean, Jacques, André, Philippe, Thomas, Barthélemy, Matthieu, Jacques, fils d'Alphée, Simon le Zélote, et Jude, fils de Jacques.
- And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ὅτε εἰσῆλθον, ⸂εἰς τὸ ὑπερῷον ἀνέβησαν⸃ οὗ ἦσαν καταμένοντες, ὅ τε Πέτρος καὶ ⸂Ἰωάννης καὶ Ἰάκωβος⸃ καὶ Ἀνδρέας, Φίλιππος καὶ Θωμᾶς, Βαρθολομαῖος καὶ Μαθθαῖος, Ἰάκωβος Ἁλφαίου καὶ Σίμων ὁ ζηλωτὴς καὶ Ἰούδας Ἰακώβου. (Ⅲ)
- Et cum introissent in cœnaculum, ascenderunt ubi manebant Petrus, et Joannes, Jacobus, et Andreas, Philippus, et Thomas, Bartholomæus, et Matthæus, Jacobus Alphæi, et Simon Zelotes, et Judas Jacobi. (Ⅳ)

Tous d'un commun accord persévéraient dans la prière, avec les femmes, et Marie, mère de Jésus, et avec les frères de Jésus.
- These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren. (Ⅱ)
- οὗτοι πάντες ἦσαν προσκαρτεροῦντες ὁμοθυμαδὸν τῇ ⸀προσευχῇ σὺν γυναιξὶν καὶ ⸀Μαριὰμ τῇ μητρὶ τοῦ Ἰησοῦ καὶ ⸀σὺν τοῖς ἀδελφοῖς αὐτοῦ. (Ⅲ)
- Hi omnes erant perseverantes unanimiter in oratione cum mulieribus, et Maria matre Jesu, et fratribus ejus.\ (Ⅳ)

En ces jours-là, Pierre se leva au milieu des frères, le nombre des personnes réunies étant d'environ cent vingt. Et il dit:
- And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (the number of names together were about an hundred and twenty,) (Ⅱ)
- Καὶ ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις ταύταις ἀναστὰς Πέτρος ἐν μέσῳ τῶν ⸀ἀδελφῶν εἶπεν (ἦν τε ὄχλος ὀνομάτων ἐπὶ τὸ αὐτὸ ⸀ὡς ἑκατὸν εἴκοσι)· (Ⅲ)
- In diebus illis, exsurgens Petrus in medio fratrum, dixit (erat autem turba hominum simul, fere centum viginti) : (Ⅳ)

Hommes frères, il fallait que s'accomplît ce que le Saint Esprit, dans l'Écriture, a annoncé d'avance, par la bouche de David, au sujet de Judas, qui a été le guide de ceux qui ont saisi Jésus.
- Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus. (Ⅱ)
- Ἄνδρες ἀδελφοί, ἔδει πληρωθῆναι τὴν ⸀γραφὴν ἣν προεῖπε τὸ πνεῦμα τὸ ἅγιον διὰ στόματος Δαυὶδ περὶ Ἰούδα τοῦ γενομένου ὁδηγοῦ τοῖς συλλαβοῦσιν ⸀Ἰησοῦν, (Ⅲ)
- Viri fratres, oportet impleri Scripturam quam prædixit Spiritus Sanctus per os David de Juda, qui fuit dux eorum qui comprehenderunt Jesum : (Ⅳ)

Il était compté parmi nous, et il avait part au même ministère.
- For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry. (Ⅱ)
- ὅτι κατηριθμημένος ἦν ⸀ἐν ἡμῖν καὶ ἔλαχεν τὸν κλῆρον τῆς διακονίας ταύτης.— (Ⅲ)
- qui connumeratus erat in nobis, et sortitus est sortem ministerii hujus. (Ⅳ)

Cet homme, ayant acquis un champ avec le salaire du crime, est tombé, s'est rompu par le milieu du corps, et toutes ses entrailles se sont répandues.
- Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out. (Ⅱ)
- Οὗτος μὲν οὖν ἐκτήσατο χωρίον ἐκ μισθοῦ τῆς ἀδικίας, καὶ πρηνὴς γενόμενος ἐλάκησεν μέσος, καὶ ἐξεχύθη πάντα τὰ σπλάγχνα αὐτοῦ. (Ⅲ)
- Et hic quidem possedit agrum de mercede iniquitatis, et suspensus crepuit medius : et diffusa sunt omnia viscera ejus. (Ⅳ)

La chose a été si connue de tous les habitants de Jérusalem que ce champ a été appelé dans leur langue Hakeldama, c'est-à-dire, champ du sang.
- And it was known unto all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch as that field is called in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say, The field of blood. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ γνωστὸν ἐγένετο πᾶσι τοῖς κατοικοῦσιν Ἰερουσαλήμ, ὥστε κληθῆναι τὸ χωρίον ἐκεῖνο τῇ ⸀ἰδίᾳ διαλέκτῳ αὐτῶν Ἁκελδαμάχ, τοῦτ’ ἔστιν Χωρίον Αἵματος.— (Ⅲ)
- Et notum factum est omnibus habitantibus Jerusalem, ita ut appellaretur ager ille, lingua eorum, Haceldama, hoc est, ager sanguinis. (Ⅳ)

Or, il est écrit dans le livre des Psaumes: Que sa demeure devienne déserte, Et que personne ne l'habite! Et: Qu'un autre prenne sa charge!
- For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell therein: and his bishoprick let another take. (Ⅱ)
- γέγραπται γὰρ ἐν βίβλῳ ψαλμῶν· Γενηθήτω ἡ ἔπαυλις αὐτοῦ ἔρημος καὶ μὴ ἔστω ὁ κατοικῶν ἐν αὐτῇ, καί· Τὴν ἐπισκοπὴν αὐτοῦ ⸀λαβέτω ἕτερος. (Ⅲ)
- Scriptum est enim in libro Psalmorum : Fiat commoratio eorum deserta, et non sit qui inhabitet in ea : et episcopatum ejus accipiat alter. (Ⅳ)

Il faut donc que, parmi ceux qui nous ont accompagnés tout le temps que le Seigneur Jésus a vécu avec nous,
- Wherefore of these men which have companied with us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, (Ⅱ)
- δεῖ οὖν τῶν συνελθόντων ἡμῖν ἀνδρῶν ἐν παντὶ χρόνῳ ⸀ᾧ εἰσῆλθεν καὶ ἐξῆλθεν ἐφ’ ἡμᾶς ὁ κύριος Ἰησοῦς, (Ⅲ)
- Oportet ergo ex his viris qui nobiscum sunt congregati in omni tempore quo intravit et exivit inter nos Dominus Jesus, (Ⅳ)

depuis le baptême de Jean jusqu'au jour où il a été enlevé du milieu de nous, il y en ait un qui nous soit associé comme témoin de sa résurrection.
- Beginning from the baptism of John, unto that same day that he was taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection. (Ⅱ)
- ἀρξάμενος ἀπὸ τοῦ βαπτίσματος Ἰωάννου ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ἧς ἀνελήμφθη ἀφ’ ἡμῶν, μάρτυρα τῆς ἀναστάσεως αὐτοῦ ⸂σὺν ἡμῖν γενέσθαι⸃ ἕνα τούτων. (Ⅲ)
- incipiens a baptismate Joannis usque in diem qua assumptus est a nobis, testem resurrectionis ejus nobiscum fieri unum ex istis. (Ⅳ)

Ils en présentèrent deux: Joseph appelé Barsabbas, surnommé Justus, et Matthias.
- And they appointed two, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἔστησαν δύο, Ἰωσὴφ τὸν καλούμενον Βαρσαββᾶν, ὃς ἐπεκλήθη Ἰοῦστος, καὶ Μαθθίαν. (Ⅲ)
- Et statuerunt duos, Joseph, qui vocabatur Barsabas, qui cognominatus est Justus, et Mathiam. (Ⅳ)

Puis ils firent cette prière: Seigneur, toi qui connais les coeurs de tous, désigne lequel de ces deux tu as choisi,
- And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen, (Ⅱ)
- καὶ προσευξάμενοι εἶπαν Σὺ κύριε καρδιογνῶστα πάντων, ἀνάδειξον ὃν ἐξελέξω, ἐκ τούτων τῶν δύο ἕνα, (Ⅲ)
- Et orantes dixerunt : Tu Domine, qui corda nosti omnium, ostende quem elegeris ex his duobus unum, (Ⅳ)

afin qu'il ait part à ce ministère et à cet apostolat, que Judas a abandonné pour aller en son lieu.
- That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place. (Ⅱ)
- λαβεῖν τὸν ⸀τόπον τῆς διακονίας ταύτης καὶ ἀποστολῆς, ⸀ἀφ’ ἧς παρέβη Ἰούδας πορευθῆναι εἰς τὸν τόπον τὸν ἴδιον. (Ⅲ)
- accipere locum ministerii hujus et apostolatus, de quo prævaricatus est Judas ut abiret in locum suum. (Ⅳ)

Ils tirèrent au sort, et le sort tomba sur Matthias, qui fut associé aux onze apôtres.
- And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἔδωκαν κλήρους ⸀αὐτοῖς, καὶ ἔπεσεν ὁ κλῆρος ἐπὶ Μαθθίαν, καὶ συγκατεψηφίσθη μετὰ τῶν ἕνδεκα ἀποστόλων. (Ⅲ)
- Et dederunt sortes eis, et cecidit sors super Mathiam : et annumeratus est cum undecim Apostolis. (Ⅳ)
